I think its wrong to call both Snape and James incels as neither of them express misogyny, I know this op considers snape calling lily a mudblood an example of his suppoused mysogyny, it is a proof snape was a blood purist tho! he dislikes being seen as weak so he tries to place that sense of helplessness on someone lesser than (a mudblood), its his insecurity comming afloat but I dont really see how this extrapolates to a disdain for women as a whole.

I think there is also a misconception from both the person calling james an incel and op in that theres a believe, even if not explicitly said, that incel-ism (lol) is the only way men can express misogyny.

So to point at james being popular or having a good life from birth (plus mandela effect: james is never decribed as handsome in canon, regulus is said to resemble sirius while being significantly less atractive so ppl thinking they are brothers doesnt say anything) as proof of lack of toxic masculity is not that strong. In the same vein that Snape being bullied, having mental illness and a bad life =/= incel

I do think its implied in canon that james asked lily out before swm, since lily doesnt seem surprised or taken aback for his comment and he directly tells lily that he will stop his bad behavior (attacking lily's friend) if she gives in to date him, take also in consideration that a factor in james behavior towards snape was that he suspected romantic interest...thats a yikes and does exhibit certain aspects like cruelty, arrogance and entitlement (were these 2 losers really the only options for lily to date at school, joanne?) But I am not gonna say jily is the worst ship because of this, I'd be an hypocrite, plus I do think ppl change and in fact both snape amd james change for the better during their lives.

James/snape wars are often tiresome because they do end in a "who lily should have chosen" debate when it was never that. Regardless I find the post having some concerning inferences about mental health and misogyny, but eh, I will move along.
