something very important that i love about jayvik is that they are explicitly two dudes with serious suicidal ideation that is only ended through love. i feel like this is forgotten often. they both thought that they wanted to die, even for just a brief moment, but lived for each other and their shared dream. am i interrupting something? they want each other to live so god damn much. theyre both so impulsive that after making one mistake their first instinct is to end their life, but both have the same impulse to make sure one another live. they both got there just at the right time, every time. they are the only reason the other is alive. they cannot stop saving each other. can you imagine how much you have to love someone to live for them. and save them and let them save you. its so romantic and beautiful they are there for each other in every conceivable world its killing me

I see a lot of people in the Mouthwashing tag frequently listing 'keeping Curly alive' in the list of crimes Jimmy has done, implying or sometimes outright saying that not mercy-killing Curly was a cruel and unusual act...and would like to caution against that.
There's a long history of abled people deciding someone's quality of life is too horrible to merit letting them live (usually to nonverbal or otherwise 'low functioning' people lacking a clear means to communicate) and condoning the murder of disabled people under the guise of kindness. Curly is an extreme example, and one could argue he might prefer to be 'put out of his misery,' but it's important to note that we don't know, no one asks, and there's no attempt to communicate either which way.
How extreme pain and 'low quality of life' are handled are very nuanced and complicated topics, but you can never decide for someone else what kind of life isn't 'worth living.' Curly is obviously a videogame character, but these attitudes can and do affect the lives of real people & are worth being aware of.

ed is absolutely panicking in 2x7 bc he’s seeing stede having the time of his life being a famous pirate and he’s genuinely happy for stede but also he wants out of this life and he’s afraid stede will choose piracy over him and so he’s leaving first before stede can leave him again, all of which is bc deep down ed still thinks he’s unlovable and he’s scared to get hurt by stede again and he’s handling everything very badly
all that being said
the fact that ed has already decided that he can’t choose piracy for stede’s sake is so important to me
piracy was slowly killing ed long before stede entered the picture. and now that ed’s decided that he wants warmth and food and orgasms and he wants to live he’s not going to force himself to do a job that makes him fucking miserable. he still might not think he’s worth love and not worth choosing, but he’s at least moved past thinking he deserves to die. he’s past making himself so miserable that he wants to die. ed still has a lot of work to do but he’s making good progress and i’m proud of him.

my heart dropped when i read the statement that sm put out re: taeil, genuinely the last thing i expected to read today. i’m shocked, disappointed, but most of all- i’m angry.
angry at what he’s done, angry at seeing some fans defend him, angry at those turning this into a gotcha moment to promote or lift their faves up. please, this isn’t just some discussion on the internet- there is a very real victim, a very real woman at the heart of all this. i hope she gets the justice and healing she deserves.

Every other aspect of Jesse’s trauma makes me go oh no poor blorbo :( but his relationship w his parents and thinking ab it in the context of the series aftermath actually makes me unwell… they never even knew him they only ever saw the worst in him and now they’ve had that validated by his own actions and they’ll never know how sorry he is and that he was a good kid at heart and they didn’t imagine it and they still love him but how can they have loved him if they never even knew him and only ever saw the worst in him *flatlines*

i think something with jily that makes the 5th to 7th year transformation so compelling to me is how *not* ridiculous it is to assume that both of them could have significantly changed during that short time in their life.
it’s not about it being ‘just two years.’ it’s about it being those two years when they are 15, 16, 17 and how we all change so much in that time, but especially james and lily who are on the cusp of fighting in a very personal war. what do you mean it’s unrealistic and boring for james to go from schoolyard bully to head boy? (which i wouldn’t personally classify him as a schoolyard bully, but i am also the last to condone his actions in swm)
do you not remember that age? and how confusing everything was? i think one of the reasons i love exploring jily and the marauders is because this is the age i teach and i see my students walk into my class in august, not even knowing how to properly introduce themself to me while making eye contact…but they leave writing me multi-page letters of appreciation and inviting me to their birthday parties. and it’s not because i’m just a really good teacher…its because they grow up. even the ones that don’t want to! the ones that staunchly resist every temptation to mature. they still grow up, even if it’s for different reasons or at a different rate than their peers.
and so I don’t know. i look at sixteen-year-old lily evans losing her best (only real?) friend and sixteen-year-old james potter impulse reacting to the dude he despises humiliating the girl he’s infatuated with. and then i look at them graduating exactly two years later, hand in hand, only a couple more years away from bringing a child into the world and it just…doesn’t seem like a stretch? it seems completely believable and fun to explore all the potential catalysts that popped up along the way.

Obsessed with the way Evadne's relationship with Apollo is described. Obsessed with the way Apollo was especially gentle with her because she was sheltered, hidden away and hadn't had any sort of experience with love prior to Apollo (and due to it being described as her 'first learning Aphrodite's joy' through Apollo', it was probably her first time even being attracted to someone). Obsessed with the way when she runs away, she stops in a violet patch to give birth. Y'know, violets, very famously the flower so strongly associated with Aphrodite that they were used in love potions? Those violets. Obsessed with the way that when Apollo realised his lover was going to have to deliver their child alone, he sent BOTH the goddess of childbirth and ALL THREE OF THE FATES to help and support her. Obsessed with the way that Apollo sends snakes to feed his baby honey straight from their fangs because Evadne abandons their son out of straight primal fear when her stepfather finds her and how the description of that honey is 'sweet venom' [ἰός] of the bees and is DEFINITELY a poetic pair/pun with [ἴον] aka violets and that every single thing about this relationship, conception and birth is a complete and utter fairytale down to Evadne's insanely overprotective stepfather having an immediate change of heart when he learned Evadne's child was an actual, legitimate Son of Apollo and the babe, after being cared for by his dad's honey-fanged snake buddies, was found perfectly healthy five days later swaddled in a blanket of violets (y'know the flowers so strongly associated with Aphrodite that they were used for lo-) and they called him Iamus aka Boy of the Violets which is AAAAAARRRR I AM GNAWING AT MY ENCLOSURE
Iamus was made of love. Everything about him was surrounded by deep and profound love and like, let's not even talk about his whole Thing of when he came of age and was like "I need to find out what my purpose is" and he literally had a Disney Protagonist moment where he ran out into the wilds and was like "Father!! Grandfather!! Tell me what I'm supposed to doooo!!" and then APOLLO FUCKING ANSWERED AND LED HIM TO ONE HIS TEMPLES ENTIRELY BY TALKING WITH IAMUS AND LETTING HIM FOLLOW HIS VOICE FOR THE WHOLE JOURNEY LIKE -
What do y'all know about the kind of SSS tier romantic escapades Apollo had fr?
#ginger rambles#NO BECAUSE WHAT DO Y'ALL KNOW ABOUT APOLLO AND EVADNE FR#They're a MAD underrated couple and their story is what everyone wishes Hades/Persephone was#Evadne actually WAS sheltered and overprotected because she was a daughter of Poseidon explicitly given to Aepytus to watch over#And Aepytus to his credit wasn't actually a bad man or anything he just took his job very very seriously#Super pious guy - even though he was positively incandescent when he found out Evadne was pregnant he didn't hit her or anything#He just was like “Get me my HORSE I am going to consult the GODS about my DAUGHTER'S HARLOTRY”#Evadne was fucking terrified of him though she hid that pregnancy like her life depended on it#And the minute she heard horse hooves even though she had just finished giving birth she dropped Iamus like he was molten and fucking ran#I could only imagine Aepytus having set up a baby shower or something cause he was overjoyed by the oracle and Evadne gets home thinking#she's going to get Dungeon'd only for Aepytus to hug her and be like “You should've told me you were seeing Apollo sob emoji sob emoji”#God I'm sure Evadne had a bunch of trauma to work through with her stepfather changing his whole entire attitude on a complete#Apollo doesn't directly interfere with their lives after Iamus is born up until Iamus comes looking for him but he was definitely keeping#a very close eye on them all through their lives#Ugh I'm sick I'm so sick in the head thinking about them#apollo#evadne#iamus#greek mythology#ginger chats about greek myths

Zooble's issue basically being that body parts which feel right for them don't exist feels... Familiar. It's kinda liberating, seeing such a thing explored. I haven't seen it addressed with any nb character before.

i should know better than to wade into any political discourse on reddit, but lately i just haven't been able to stop myself because it's so obvious that the various canadian subreddits are being overrun with paid actors and bots. so when i spot what looks like a genuine post from someone who is trying in good faith to find out information (usually about emigrating to canada), i try to chime in with my two cents as an american who's been living here for a decade now
i'm not going to waste any energy being shocked over how lots of terminally online canadian redditors are responding to americans immigrants right now (because it is absolutely nothing compared to the flaming vitriolic shitshow immigrants from india and china specifically have been dealing with for years [to say nothing of anti-indigenous racism]), but i do have to say this kind of shit is actually pretty funny to me
crucial context: OP of this post (a gay american man) was just asking whether fluency in french was required for getting a job in canada (it isn't)--and the vast majority of the responses were just a bunch of people angrily saying "no, if you're american, we don't want you." in a move that even i now recognize as being a huge waste of my time and energy, i remarked that OP should ignore all the dingdongs telling them not to come here, because by and large most canadians he'll encounter in his day to day life will be perfectly nice and kind and won't have a problem with him. and then there's just. these guys.

answer me, reddit user barneyblasto, before i have no choice but to share the follow-up response i have prepared for you with a niche subset of a single danmei fandom on tumblr dot com instead

Can I say though Yi Sang and Aeng-du's instant connection and solidarity is one of my favorite things about this event, it's just so sweet and also so special how they find that feeling of safety just from also knowing someone from the homeland they have left behind while they remain so out of place in The City. It stands out so much when the general mentality of the world is "everyone for themselves" but S Corp's people and those who had to leave it behind seem to have found so much understanding and sympathy with each other.
Overall I find it so interesting and unique that more than any other District in The City the people of District 19 feel such genuine attachment to the land and its heritage, not just with Aeung-du, Kim and the rest of the Blade Lineage but going back to Dongbaek and Dongrang's EGOs too, it's just so special to see that very united sense of culture and heritage in a world that despite being multicultural and multilingual seems to have largely left such notions behind
