Little things I, and many others, forget about PJO PT. 3 (This was my sister’s post on Reddit, but since she doesn’t have a Tumblr, I thought I would share)

-When Thalia came back, she looked 15/16 but was still a 12 year old mentally 

-The hippocampi and other sea creatures call Percy Lord 

-Percy only promised Nico to do his best at keeping Biance safe, he didn't directly promise to protect her 

-Percy's a good pitcher 

-Percy wasn't comfortable being one on one with girls 

-At first glance, Aphrodite looked like Annabeth when Percy met her 

-Percy had just realized how cool Bianca was before she died 

-Biance never knew she was a child of Hades (when she was alive) 

-Percy, Thalia, and Grover actually listened to (some of) Annabeths facts about architecture 

-Annabeth talked to her stepmom about Percy

Trials of Apollo

The trials of Apollo reminds me of a game of hot potato.... They just keep passing Apollo along. Percy: Heads up! Leo! Leo: Grover! ... Catch!

to add onto this 100% correct and amazingly articulate post, not only does this completely destroy the development of Leo's character, but it does so for Calypso's as well, since they both function so similarly. Calypso has been stranded on that island alone for years, thinking about Percy. The whole point of the string of broken hearts with her is the fact that she is not over this guy, so her entire arc is formed around receiving love from this person she's idealized. This makes her similar to Leo, the 7th wheel, who is waiting for love and whose anxiety about not getting it consumes him to the point of daily dread. But what is really REALLY important in this parallel is who they are after, and how that mirrors their characters perfectly. Calypso's crush on Percy but his feelings for Annabeth perfectly parallels Leo's crush on Hazel but her feelings towards Frank. They are cast in the same exact position within their respective love triangles. So, by having both characters end up together and "happy," Rick destroys both of their growth by forcing them to find solace in this mindset that is actually very toxic and harmful. While it seems like the message is, "don't worry everyone, you'll find love someday!" it actually is, when you look at Calypso and Leo and how they mirror one another, and the fact they, out of all characters, end up together together, "you will succumb to your greatest character flaw because it is an expectation of you to be in a romantic relationship." And if that doesn't romanticize romance and destroy character development for the sake of yet another hetero ship, I don't know what does.

calypsos reintroduction was meant to show that percy leaves behind a trail of broken hearts wherever he goes with his friends picking up the pieces. First nico with bob and now leo with calypso BUT Nico and Bob and that whole storyline was just so organic and it fit in well and I understood the curses by Akhlys and all of that.

In a GOOD plot, the whole thing with Leo and calypso happens anyway but it doesn’t end the way it does. I’m not imaginative enough to tell you how it ends but Leo would still have built his raft, he would have still stood up to Percy and he would have still tried to find a way to save her WITHOUT FALLING IN LOVE WITH HER

That would have shown character growth from a lonely boy looking for companionship to a self assured boy surrounded by his chosen family striving to save a lonely girl from a fate that should have been fixed. Leo did so much for his friends and the people around him that it was so out of character for him to die? And leave his friends? For some girl???? No bitch he would not have done that!!!!

What’s a better way than for Percy to step back and take stock of the people who have helped him along the way and with the support of his friends, tried to go and help them again? CALEO WAS NOT IT RICK IT DIDNT SOLVE ANYTHING you identified something that was supposed to be character growth or a gotcha moment for Percy and instead butchered Leo’s, Frank’s and Hazel’s characters all at once (and Percys let’s face it I’m still bitter we didn’t get more depth into post Tartarus stress disorder)

(btw all three characters mentioned above are POC is that a coincidence hmmmmmmm????)

Anyways TLDR is that Leo had potential to turn from a young lonely boy thinking he would only be complete if he had a girlfriend into a satisfied content young man surrounded by friends and family who love and cherish him and someone who learns from Percy’s mistakes and thinks deeper about his own actions and consequences. We didn’t get that and that’s not Leo’s fault, it’s Rick’s.

So I just saw the new Percy Jackson movie and I can honestly say I loved it!! IMHO it was well done, or as good as it can get considering the first one was a mess. In any case, considering they had to cut much since they are condensing the books, I thought it was well done. The plot and prophecy have both changed, but it was done in a way that made sense. On top of that the characters were pretty accurate and funny at times; especially mr. D! I don't wanna go too much more into it cause I'm watching iron man right now but it was good. :)

I just finished The Titan's Curse and wow I think that's the only pjo ending so far that nearly made me cry? And Nico is a son of Hades??? I'm so intrigued wow I'm glad I bought Battle of the Labyrinth in advance

I think we can all agree that this scene wasn't okay? OP, while this scene may be funny from your POV, it isn't exactly ok for Leo to get beat by a bunch of people he rarely knew about, had no relationships with, and get the whole thing monetized.
