Yesterday a baby calf was born a month early, with a twin. The twin died today morning. The calf is very weak, he can't walk, he can't sit, he doesn't really want to drink. He has no strength whatsoever. I spent most of my time today trying to get him to drink. Getting his little head to stay in a comfortable position was a feat, let alone getting him to drink. He doesn't know what to do with his tongue so he bleps. But he's so cute and I like him a lot for some reason. I don't know. He's so pretty and gentle. I really wish he could make it. He probably won't live. Thinking about how he probably won't be there anymore by the time I get there next week makes me very sad

It's been a while since I posted :(

I already finished 8 weeks of my 11 week internship at the Belgian federal tax administration. My team works on appeals made by companies about VAT.

In the beginning I worked on old files that were already closed so I could practise. But now I'm working on current files and it feels nice being needed.

I'm so tired though. I've postponed my thesis to august because I feel dead when I get back home in the evening.

I really have to start writing my thesis report though. I've been procrastinating on that as well lol. I need to submit that at the end of may but my mentor needs to read it first because of confidentiality so I should probably finish writing it a week before the deadline.

I have started applying for jobs already! I applied for 2 jobs at tax administration where I'm doing my internship and maybe I get offered a contract when I'm finished. We'll see what happens

29.05.2023.

What can I say, an eight-hour drive is an eight-hour drive. On the upside, I make awesome progress on my current audiobook (The Strangest Forms by Gregory Ashe). Llelo is a trooper in the backseat, but he does occasionally try to get me to race the other cars. So far, I haven’t let him goad me into it.

The first stop I make is at the Vince Lombardi service station just outside of New York City, on the Jersey side. It’s new! It’s modern! They have a vending machine selling slices of cake from Carlo’s Bake Shop (you know, the one from Cake Boss). I’m tempted, but I’m also not paying nearly $7 for a slice of cake.

After the Vince Lombardy service station is the Alexander Hamilton service station, also in New Jersey (everything is legal in New Jersey). I don’t stop at this one, but a couple of hours later I pull into the Clara Barton service station. This one is markedly less splendid than the one dedicated to the football star. Go figure. There is a pack of feral cats living in the field next to the massive parking lot. Please god, I think to myself, if I ever do something like minister to the wounded on a battlefield, don’t let them name a service station after me.

I arrive in Fredericksburg with a sore tuchus and the need for a shower. Llelo celebrates stopping for the night by sclathing all over the hotel carpet.

I’m so happy! On top of the internship I got the other day, I just got a part time job on top! My year had been going terrible but this is just the perfect ending 💕

It might not be how I wanted my year to end but I’m so grateful for this turn. You don’t understand how emotionally wrecked I’d been. THIS is truly the ending of 2023 that I needed 🥹💕

i havent seen my closest friends in a few weeks and it’s mostly my fault…idk im just really not in a good mental state rn im unfortunately falling back into a depressive/suicidal state again. My most loved and cherished friends are very successful (rightfully so) and though they are extremely supportive, loving, caring, and genuine towards me, i can’t help but think that i bring nothing to the table as of rn. I know that friendship isn’t transactional and that they’d never treat me as someone disposable just because of my shortcomings and will always support me as best as they could, but my insecurities are literally taking over LOL. I just feel really embarrassed bc we all started at the same time and they’re exactly where they should be while I’m still behind, waiting for things to start looking up for me. I don’t have anything new to say like they usually do and I know that I can’t really relate to their experiences. I’m just not on the same page as them. None of them make me feel alienated or isolated by any means, they believe in me more than I believe in myself actually, I just feel like I’m stuck in a rut. I want to be at the same place as they are but I’m not right now and I just feel really embarrassed about it. Forcing myself to stay home on days off is how I’m coping rn.
