happy three years to @chrysanthemumgames !!!! as always i'm a little biased towards drawing hermes, but i love the entire cast and at least wanted to draw all of them :') and ofc, thank you jess for a game i always love and keep coming back to!!!
#do not be fooled with no speechbubbles in reply to the cast#hermes is yelling hello's and sorry's as he speeds away i promise#asphodelgame#fields of asphodel#foa#my art#hermes#persephone#pyri#alekto#charon#hekate#hades#makaria#have a bunch of doodles and thoughts for foa that i never got around to properly drawing so . perhaps soon!!!!!#also re the new hozier album. first time-hades (i shouldnt have to explain myself it was like it was written FOR him)#who we are- charon and esp with his backstory my knuckles go white with how desperate i am to know more about them#de selby pt1 and 2 for hermes just cause i like the imagery of the songs about descent for the deity that splits his time#unknown is for alekto . lord i love her and again i would like sweet sweet backstory#first light pyri . i enjoy the light-river of fire idea and also its one of the more hopeful songs off the album#and i am struggling with hekate but i do enjoy all things end :)#but particularly 'if there way anyone to ever get through this life with their heart still intact they didn't do it right'#and ofc 'we didn't it right but love we did our best' and that constant forward motion for a deity that has lived so long#seph/pc gets to someone from a warm climate. the adjustment of being in a new place and the love that can come from that new place#and in the end its as easy . natural as another leg around you in the bed frame. ANYONE ELSE A BIT SICK RN?#other songs on the album (FRANCESCA. ICARIAN. DAMAGE GETSDONE!!!!) can be applied to the entire cast#damage gets done has such SUCH a fun beat that makes me think of hermes but that is like. 90% bias#anyways sorry for the hozier-foa tedtalk in the notes. quite deranged about both lately#and as always sorry to the pagans on this site. best wishes <3

There is comfort in the madness - a sort of familiarity. I find myself lost in it sometimes. I allow myself to be whisked away by the winds of the hurricane and embrace its cruelty, as if scratching my skin and breaking my bones was a proper way of showing affection.
I find comfort in the madness, until I don't. Until the pain and fear finally catches up to me, and my mind registers the danger of the situation. The sense of familiarity is comforting, but the winds battering my body and the debris slicing my cheeks pulls me out of the trance-like state I found myself in.
Chaos can be comforting, but recognizing when it's actually needed is an essential skill.

i really like how chapter 23 is titled in Japanese. in English, it's simply "Stargazing with A Free Spirit" but in Japanese, it's called "満天を頂に叶えるは空の願い".
i'm struggling to translate and word it beautifully in English but it's roughly around the line of: What Grants [You] a Sky [Full of Stars] at the Summit was A Wish Upon the Sky or Wish Upon the Sky Blessing You with A Sky [Full of Stars] at the Summit
(i know it's kind of a mouthful / repetitive 😅 sorry, i still have a lot to learn)
why i like it? because of how they made it into a wordplay of Towa's name. Towa's given name is written as 叶空 in Japanese and as you can see here, it's incorporated in the title. i just think it's neat! especially when it's a chapter focusing on him. c:
Tumblr media
funfact: Towa's name is written as 叶空 (叶 = to grant / fulfill, 空 = sky) but "towa" is also another way to read the word 永遠 (eternity / everlasting / forever, etc)!

Divine and Draconic Differences
The skies were clear and the weather was pleasant as the heroes congregated outside of Wild and Flora’s Hateno home. It was peaceful, a nice and welcomed reprieve from the era before.
Wind, a still growing teenager, was overflowing with energy, tugging around an equally as eager Hyrule, to explore everything possible. He had his spyglass out, sweeping across the vast land of the Wild Era. Every so often, he’d hand his spyglass over to the traveler to allow him a go.
His telescope was focused on a chasm far out, watching the remaining wisps of gloom fade into the air. Mesmerized by the red-purple, he didn’t fully register the white-blue on the edge until it had blocked his view.
“Wild! What the fuck is that?!” Keeping his focus on the serpentine creature in the sky, he heard Wild approach his side with the familiar sound of him activating his slate’s scope mode.
“That’s Naydra, one of the dragons.”
That… didn’t look like a dragon. Dropping his spyglass from his eye, Wind fixed Wild with a stare. The scarred hero stared back.
“Don’t look at me like that. There’s three dragons, they’re all servants of the springs. Naydra happens to be the servant of the Spring of Wisdom, which is,” he grabbed Wind’s shoulder and spun him around, pointing to a mountain peak covered in snow, “right on that peak over there.” Wind moved his gaze to the mountain peak, following Wild’s finger. He could see the vague shape of pillars.
“Huh… so you have dragons too? They look different from mine.” Wind began walking back to the rest of the group, who had been listening in on the conversation, no matter how hard they tried hiding it. Wild took a few seconds to decipher the information, and ran to catch up with the sailor.
“What do you mean “you too”? I didn’t know anyone else had dragons!” Wind shrugged.
“Like I said, mine are different, like Valoo. He was a sky spirit I met during my first adventure. And the only one that didn’t try to kill me.” He plopped down next to Warriors, who offered the young hero one of the apples he had.
“Still! Does anyone else have dragons?” All hands went up except for the smithy, who looked utterly confused as he mouthed dragons over and over, eyes swirling different colors.
“In my defense, all of my dragons wanted to kill me.” Hyrule exclaimed, being seconded by Time, Twilight, Warriors, and Legend.
The five heroes delved into further conversation about their draconic enemies. Wind wiggled into the group, chattering about the gleeoks he fought. Wild chimed in about having to fight gleeoks as well, explaining about the King Gleeoks residing in hard-to-reach locations.
“The dragons I know serve Hylia.” A few grimaced at the mention of the goddess, but the dislike was outweighed by the curiosity of Sky’s dragons.
“The three of them were assigned to watch over different provinces of the Surface. They also protected the sacred flames, and held parts of the Song of the Hero.”
Wild was immediately upon Sky, spitting out questions with very little breaths between, all centered on what they looked like, if they had any powers, and anything of the sort.
“Of course they have powers, they guard and protect the Triforce. Even the gods wouldn’t be able to reach it with them guarding the key to it.
Gods and Goddesses were a touchy subject. Some were openly hostile towards them, others in the middle, and some revered them. Yet, the topic always raised an interesting thought; just how many are there?
“Do you think there’s more than just Hylia?” Came Four’s voice, eyes shining a curious violet.
“There’s the light spirits in my era,” Twilight rested his chin in his palm, “Ordona, Lanayru, Eldin, and Faron. They protect the regions they share names with.”
“Oh, and the Golden Goddesses! They’re the ones that submerged Hyrule!” Wind piped up, leaning against Warriors, who grimaced as the sailor’s sharp elbow dug into his thigh.
A soft hum emitted from Time, who had been running his fingers along his markings, a pensive look across his face. Wild bounded off of Sky, and settled next to Twilight.
“I know of one! Legends talk about a Fierce Deity… they say that if one dons his armor and mask they gain godlike power.”
Time gave a sharp inhale, and his fingers dropped from his face.
Others shook their heads, either not having any other gods, goddesses, or deities in their time, or having the same ones as someone else.
“Not anymore.”
Eight heads turned towards Sky, who had found a stick and was whittling absentmindedly, a stormy look across his face. They all shared a few glances- curiosity, and a little bit of fear.
‘Not anymore’?
“Oh! There is another- the Deity of War.” Hyrule broke the silence, fingers tying blades of grass into circles while his gaze rested on the other heroes.
“Isn’t that the same as the Fierce Deity?” Twilight cocked his head.
Legend scoffed.
“Many think that, but”, he stood up and turned so he was facing all eight heroes, “they are different. He’s the Deity of War, exactly as his name implies; a powerhouse on the battlefield, calculated and quick. The Fierce Deity doesn’t focus on war, he focuses on ferocity, on power, on courage. It’s in their names, it really is that simple.”
The veteran launched further into an explanation about the two, pointing out the similarities and differences, both surface level and deeper. Pointed ears all upright, revealing without words how invested they were in this newly learned-about deity.
Wild shot up out of his seat and ran to the house, slamming the door open, sounds of rustling and clanging could be heard, and the heroes remaining shared concerned glances. The current era’s hero came racing back out- not bothering to shut the door- with a book in his grasp.
“Legends Throughout the Ages” read the title of the book in intricate gold. The book itself seemed to be in good condition, missing the normal wear and tear they had seen on other things in the champion’s era.
“I know about him! Flora was talking about some books she had found in the castle,” he thumbed through the pages, “and she thought I would like this one… Aha!” Wild smoothed the book to lay flat on pages marked with blue fabric scraps.
On the pages were long paragraphs of stories and legends of the deity, exploring where he originated from and what eras his legends came from. Taking up a sizable portion of the right page was an image.
“Hey, he kind of looks like Warriors!”
Wind grabbed the book from Wild and pranced back over to the captain, who only raised an eyebrow at him, his now finished apple set off to the side. The sailor raised the book next to Warriors and basked in the ‘oohs’ when they realized that their youngest was right.
The picture and the captain looked nearly identical; only differentiated by the gold and blue markings on the deity’s face, blank eyes, and the color of the armor- a vibrant gold- and the tunic- a pale cream.
Snatching the book, Warriors scanned over the page, lingering on the photo a little longer.
“I don’t see it.”
That caused an uproar, as Wind and Wild both pounced on the captain, claiming that he was wrong and everyone could very well see it, while Hyrule just looked at the captain like he had grown a second head. The others groaned quietly.
There goes the relaxing day they were hoping for.

Consciousness is alluring. The truth and the core self are like a lover undressed; you know only you will see them this way, and that when the world looks on they will see creases in fabric and face, a friend, an option. But you, when you trace your hands upon that true reflection, will know the rawness of skin and the taste of flesh that will linger through every moment you are away, and your internal eyes will forever be imprinted with their sweet perfume that only you know they wear in bed.

A Deity’s Call
“Kin… Kin… Kin…”
Time had quite the selection of strange artifacts and items on hand, most tucked away in an enchanted pocket in his pack, charmed to answer to his magical signature, and his alone. Even when seeing no use, they required maintenance, a bit of polishing here and there. His repertoire also brought about memories and questions he could never dream of answering.
So here he was on watch, cradling the one item he swore to never use- or touch- again. A smooth wooden copy of his face stared back at him, even with the lack of eyes, he felt the weight of the stare. The mask buzzed and hummed with magic, the deity behind it desperate to reach out.
“Kin… Kin… Kin…”
The Fierce Deity mask nearly felt like it was vibrating from the sheer amount of magic waves crashing about inside it, the deity of its supply chanting a single word like a mantra in his head.
Kin.
This was not the first time the deity had reacted like this. Far from it, actually. He remembers, decades back, when he was plucked from his timeline to fight in a mutli-dimensional and multi-era war, to provide aid to the Hyrulian Army and other time-displaced people to bring down an obsessive sorceress.
Back then, the Fierce Deity’s mantra had been constant, a humming magic in the back of his mind from sunrise to sunset. For being trapped in a mask, the emotions of the deity bled through, dowsing its words in what could only be classified as a feeling of completeness.
“Kin… Kin…. Kin….”
What was curious, is how the mantra calmed down when around the captain. Any time the hero was in his line of sight, the deity’s words would fade and its magic would bubble with something safe.
He remembers vividly, when Warriors had been locked in a room and trapped on the battlefield by Cia- her desire to claim the era’s hero as hers fulfilled- the roar the Fierce Deity had let out, the raw, divinely ancient magic ricocheting through his skull; it sounded almost primal, in a sense.
Time doesn’t startle- he doesn’t- when a hand rests on his shoulder, his hands clench around the mask, only loosening when the magic warms up to an unbearable degree.
“Hyrule to Old Man, are you in there?”
Warriors. The captain’s voice was thick with sleep, a yawn breaking through his sentence. Time shifted to face the younger hero.
“Yes, I was just… thinking.” Warriors snorted.
“Don’t hurt yourself.” Time, unable to resist, flicked the captain’s arm, a small smile of triumph on his face when he heard the responding squeak.
“Kin… Kin… Kin…”
Scooting over, he patted the log; an offering. By the looks of it, Warriors would not be getting any more rest. Being plagued by nightmares was nothing new to any of the heroes, neither was staying awake from them.
The captain took the offer, settling down next to Time and leaning against him, head settling on his shoulder. He reached a careful hand out to brush the mask Time still held.
“I remember that mask. You never let it out of your sight, even slept with it under your pillow.” Warriors leaned heavily into Time, who was preparing a retort about how the captain couldn’t judge when he slept with a dagger.
“Kin…”
The thrumming magic turned into steady pulses, washing over the magic resting inside the two heroes. Time, long since used to the deity’s magic, did not lull. A sigh ghosted over his arm. Craning his neck, he watched Warriors’ eyes flutter shut, peace sprouting across his features.
Time’s ears flicked, honing in on the sudden deep, steady breathing of the man next to him. Gently, he eased the captain to lay flat with his head resting in his lap, the mask set on the other side of him.
“You put him to sleep, didn’t you?” A whisper.
Only the content hum of magic answered.

Casually plotting behind the scenes and all I can think about is Celestia and the creation of the current ("?") seats of the Seven. All I can think about is how it meant and caused the death of so many of their own, and of the life known as humanity that they created? Why would they do this? Why initiate a war that was as horrendously tragic, and noted by Zhongli himself to have been 'cruel in the extreme', where no God could ever out-run the death that would inevitably come for them, because only one per nation could remain. Why? Why?
#[ honestly-- celestia; you suck. i've been thinking about the chenyu vale theory that silicon posted. where guizhong is... ]#[ heavily rumored to have been the god that the three adepti there called their master. ]#[ and it's substantiated left and right due to the unknown liyue architecture of cuijue slope that likely is where guizhong perished. ]#[ due to the dust cloud overhead. but the architecture is /so common/ in chenyu vale. ]#[ etc. etc. etc. etc. any way-- the theory 'ends' with her death at the hands of morax and yet no one can explain a motivation for it. ]#[ and then dearest beloved ashikai says what i also think; a self-sacrifice. morax /and/ her couldn't both have lived. ]#[ there was only one gnosis. and guizhong didn't possess the power to defend their people. she knew this. /she knew this/. ]#[ it's literally the first thing they pledge themselves to: the protection of their people under which they could thrive. ]#[ if it had to come to sacrificing herself for her people in the end; her entire story backs up the fact that she would do just that. ]#[ she would force morax' hand if need be. but i just. I JUST. ]#[ i look at that scene in the havria sq and i just am so tragically saddened. and then fujin literally also says-- ]#[ 'the true evil was the archon war'. yeah. because the gods were left no choice but to fall to either greed or sheer survival. ]#[ and the ones who were screwed over alongside of them were the humans. ]#[ all of these deities and humans were created /by celestia/. WHY DO THIS. ]#[ i just. they really suck actually. ]#[ ooc. ] wherever her spirit may be among the countless grains of sand and specks of dust between the harbor and the mountains…

i havent seen my closest friends in a few weeks and it’s mostly my fault…idk im just really not in a good mental state rn im unfortunately falling back into a depressive/suicidal state again. My most loved and cherished friends are very successful (rightfully so) and though they are extremely supportive, loving, caring, and genuine towards me, i can’t help but think that i bring nothing to the table as of rn. I know that friendship isn’t transactional and that they’d never treat me as someone disposable just because of my shortcomings and will always support me as best as they could, but my insecurities are literally taking over LOL. I just feel really embarrassed bc we all started at the same time and they’re exactly where they should be while I’m still behind, waiting for things to start looking up for me. I don’t have anything new to say like they usually do and I know that I can’t really relate to their experiences. I’m just not on the same page as them. None of them make me feel alienated or isolated by any means, they believe in me more than I believe in myself actually, I just feel like I’m stuck in a rut. I want to be at the same place as they are but I’m not right now and I just feel really embarrassed about it. Forcing myself to stay home on days off is how I’m coping rn.
