CHANI NATTAN PURSUES LOVE IN BOUNCY PUNJABI HIP-HOP RELEASE “BHABI” FEATURING INDERPAL MOGA AND HIMMAT SANDHU
Arriving on the heels of his Spotify charting single “Facetime’ Chani Nattan releases his newest single Bhabi, a playful Punjabi hip-hop vibe featuring Inderpal Moga and Himmat Sandhu.
Nattan’s newest track captures flirtatious moments between love interests, sentiments of indulgence, confidence, and charm in the pursuit of romance fueled by physical attraction. The beat, produced by Greco, showcases a seamless fusion of Punjabi melodies and nostalgic hip-hop rhythms with Himmat Sandhu infusing a powerful energy to the collaboration.
In his signature storytelling approach, Chani sets the scene with ‘Bhabi’ (a best friend’s girlfriend in Punjabi culture) who takes on the role of wingwoman, helping him pursue a woman who’s caught his eye. When writing the song, Nattan recounts penning lyrics that are full of compliments, inviting a love interest on this thrilling ride. “It's a track about confidence, charm, and the fun of pursuing romance with a little help from a friend. Amidst the drama and the haters, you’re unfazed because nothing will stop you”
youtube
‘Bhabi’ follows the Surrey-based artist’s debut release under 91 North Records with "Facetime", a single which has garnered nods from outlets such as Billboard Canada and reached #1 on Spotify Canada's Vancouver Pulse Charts.

Ed Sheeran hints at an epic musical collaboration with King as the former recently visits India for his tour.
Hailed as one of India’s biggest and most loved New Age music artists, King seems to have found love globally as a pop artist over the years. While King enjoys a fandom in millions, popular English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran who recently visited India also showcased his admiration for his colleague. While he has been talking about his musical aspirations and even showed interest in collaborating with Indian artists, among them, Ed Sheeran has also expressed his desire to join forces with King.
Speaking to an entertainment portal, Ed Sheeran showered praise on King and hinted at joining hands with the musician as he said, “It would be King. He has been making waves lately, and he is a very good artist.” Well, here’s wishing that King and Ed Sheeran are reading this and soon surprise us with their collab announcement.
Speaking of King, this will not be his first international collaboration since he has previously joined hands with many of them, including American pop singer Nick Jonas for ‘Maan Meri Jaan (Afterlife)’, Tanzanian artist Rayvanny, American singer-songwriter Julia Michaels, and rapper Gucci Mane for the ‘New Life’ album.

Heyy Do you have some song recommendations in Tamil? I have been learning the language and would love to have some more music in it to listen to Thanks

Aagoozhilae from Radhe Shyam
Siragai from Hey! Sinamika (I like the video for this one too)
Thozi from Hey! Sinamika
Achamillai (also) from Hey! Sinamika

hope you enjoy some of these!
#so some fun facts about this is that i have one friend who sends me sooo many south indian songs which is how i get exposed to them#so like all of the artists associated with these songs also have good music that she (and i) like if you want to explore more#two is bc most of these are in a giant playlist i had to sort out the telugu and malayalam songs#mainly the telugu ones i'd be like oh this is a good one! wait. so if any of these turn out to not be in tamil my bad#third fun fact is that tamil pop was my 5th most popular genre on my spotify wrapped#which i was not expecting at all. filmi was number 2 which was more expected#fourth fun fact is this took so long to get to bc i was traveling and was NOT about to try linking songs on mobile#blue talks#replies

New upcoming pop and rock artist Akshat Prashar from Pune Music Industry Trends
The music industry is constantly evolving, with new artists coming up with their unique styles and sounds. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry continues to thrive. According to a report by IFPI, the global recorded music market grew by 7.4% in 2020.
Streaming platforms are the most popular way to consume music nowadays, with Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube being the top contenders. Listeners can stream their favorite songs from anywhere in the world, making it easier for emerging artists to gain exposure.
Another trend in the music industry is the use of social media to promote and market music. Many artists use platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter to connect with their fans and promote their work. This is especially important for new artists who are looking to break into the industry.
Indian Music Scene
India has a rich and diverse music scene, with a mix of traditional and modern sounds. Bollywood music dominates the charts, but there has been a rise in independent music in recent years.
Emerging artists like Prateek Kuhad, Ritviz, and Naezy have gained popularity with their unique sounds and styles. They have also been successful in reaching a global audience, with streaming platforms like Spotify and YouTube providing a platform for them to showcase their work.
However, the Indian music industry still faces challenges, especially for independent artists. The lack of opportunities, funding, and resources make it difficult for them to make a name for themselves.
New Upcoming Artist - Akshat Prashar
Akshat Prashar is a young and upcoming pop and rock artist from Pune. His music is a perfect blend of catchy pop melodies and gritty rock sounds. He has been making waves in the Indian music scene with his unique sound and style.
Currently he is working upon his first pop single which is about 'men living under fear of being alone for the rest of their lives just because of the way they express their love unconditionally and doesn't get the same reciprocal. The conclusion of this song is to show the world that loving the way you are is what keeps our soul unique, changing yourself just to get loved is just unacceptable.'
"Here are some lines from the song -
In this empty world found my wrist clenched in mist around my face lost my grip there in
Peeling layers, want to disappear Distraction is all I crave for Laugh it off, just hide it there What have I become?"
Akshat's music is perfect for teenagers and young adults who love live music. His energetic stage presence and catchy beats make for an unforgettable experience. He has been performing at various venues across India, gaining a loyal fan base along the way.
You can find him on Instagram- @akshhatp link- https://www.instagram.com/akshhatp/ YouTube- Akshat Prashar Music link- https://www.youtube.com/@akshhatp
In conclusion, the music industry is constantly evolving, and new artists like Akshat Prashar are pushing the boundaries with their unique sounds and styles. The Indian music scene is also evolving, with a rise in independent music and a global audience.

Tarkan - Şıkıdım (Hepsi Senin Mi?) 1999
"Şıkıdım" (Shake) is a song by Turkish singer Tarkan. It was originally released on his 1994 album lending its title to the album's name, Aacayipsin (Hepsi Senin Mi?). It is written by Sezen Aksu, reproduced by Laurent Marimbert and re-mixed by Yves Jaget for the European music market and included in Tarkan's self-titled compilation album in 1998. It was released as a single after the success of his previous single "Şımarık" (poll #94) in 1999.
This song was later released in English as "Shikidim" on Tarkan's 2006 English-language debut, Come Closer. This song has been covered in Persian by a girl group called Silhouettt, with the song re-named "Paeez". It was also covered by British grime artist Skepta, Russian pop singer Philipp Kirkorov, the Israeli duo Datz, Ukrainian singer Viktor Pavlik and Bulgarian singer Georgi Hristov. For the 2004 Indian film Dhoom it was covered in Hindi as "Shikdum", with lyrics penned by Sameer.
"Şıkıdım (Hepsi Senin Mi?)" received a total of 66% yes votes! Previous Tarkan polls: #94 "Şımarık".

DAY 5919
StWork, Mumbai May 2, 2024 Thu 12:49 PM
Birthday - EF - Elena Iankova Friday, 3 May .. and all our wishes for a happy birthday
🌹
Yo !
here before time for a very big change .. haha ..
but at work and got a bit of time and BOOM !
got to say the travel from Juhu home to work Marine Drive in 30 mins .. amazing Coastal Road and the Tunnel emerging on Marine Drive , just before its flyover and simply amazing .. !
Super constructed roads, tunnel, neat clean construct .. no traffic jams .. and done ..
Ok just to change the topic .. here is something to know :
Know what is a "mondegreen?'
MONDEGREENS
If you’ve been listening to rock music, you know it’s often hard to make out the lyrics. They sing it their way and we hear it our way.
Jimi Hendrix famously sang the phrase “While I kiss the sky” which was heard by thousands as “While I kissed this guy.”
CCR’s popular song originally said, “There’s a bad moon on the rise.” Many heard it as “There’s a bathroom on the right.”
Deep Purple’s still-popular chorus (known for its timeless guitar riff) “Smoke on the water/Fire in the sky” was misheard as “Smoke on the water/Fire engine guy.”
Nirvana’s anthem “Smells like Teen Spirit” had the lines, “Here we are now/Entertain us.” They were misheard as, “Here we are now/In containers.”
When Elvis Presley sang, “Everybody in the whole cell block”, many heard it as” Everybody in a wholesale frock”
There’s actually a word for misheard lyrics like these.
Mondegreen.
Some mondegreens became so famous that even artistes like Hendrix and CCR sang the misheard versions in their live concerts in a spirit of fun and tease.
It’s not just in pop songs that mondegreens occur. The US national anthem begins with the lofty words, “Oh say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light.’ Some heard them as “José, can you see…”
Occasionally, mondegreens had an interesting side-effect. Joe Cocker sang of a ‘lovely planet’ which was misheard as ‘lonely planet.’ The latter became the name of a well-known travel guide series of books.
No one knows why we hear the wrong thing although there are theories. It’s akin to the game of Chinese Whispers where the original line gets progressively distorted into some hilarious garbage by the time it reaches the last guy.
Mondegreens are not restricted to English alone. South Indians, with limited knowledge of Hindi, were taught patriotic songs in Hindi by zealous teachers. A popular one had the repeating phrase, “Bara tamata.” School students sang it with great gusto. Years later, some of them realized the actual words were “Bharat Mata.”
A popular line from Qurbani song, “Aap jaisa koi meri/zindagee mein aaye/ toh baat bun jaaye” was understood as “Aap jaisa koi…toh baap bun jaaye.” The defective version made sense to many who saw Zeenat Aman gyrating on those lyrics while gaping at Feroz Khan.
Many who weren’t familiar with the hill station between Bombay and Pune heard the Gulaami song as “Haathi ka andaa la” until they realized it was “Aati kya Khandala”.
I have a friend, her name is Geeta. Her family called her Gitu. Throughout her childhood and youth, she thought Rajesh Khanna was singing for her, when he said, ”Mere sapnon ki raani kab aaye Gitu”.
'Mondegreen' sounds French but isn't. In 1954, a writer at Harper’s Magazine remembered how as a little girl she misheard an old English ballad. The actual words, saluting a dead war hero, were:
𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘭 𝘰' 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯.
She heard them as:
𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘭 𝘰' 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘓𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯.
And thus was born the word ‘mondegreen’ to signify all misheard lyrics from that moment on.
Turns out, mondegreen itself started life as a mondegreen.
sent to me by a friend .. 🤣🤣
More perhaps later .. or perhaps not ..
Amitabh Bachchan
and some more .. a very pertinent article in TOI ..

My Year of (Educational) Podcasts
I spent 12,000 minutes this year listening to podcasts according to Spotify. No, I do not listen to alphamale or girlboss or true crime podcasts– I mostly listen to history, philosophy, and literature podcasts i.e. educational podcasts. Here are 12 fun, well-executed podcasts I’d recommend if you’d like to learn more about your favourite (Humanities and Social Sciences) topics.
Betwixt The Sheets: The History of Sex, Scandal & Society. This is a podcast about the history of sex and sexuality. The podcast pays special attention to overlooked aspects of queer history, pop culture, and cultural superstitions. The love life and sex life of historical and artistic figures are also discussed with historians.
Dan Snow's History Hit. This podcasts discusses the most exciting and culturally relevant historical events and figures with expert panel guests. Clears up historical misconceptions and deals with the most interesting topics in an engaging way.
Occult Confessions. This podcast is about the history of the occult, witches, folklore, magicians, and conspiracies. There are discussions of folklore, religious history, and cults. The themes are dark but quite fascinating.
Intelligence Squared. This podcast is centered on cultural and academic debates and deep-dives into polemical topics among top UK experts. I really enjoy their episodes about writers, art, and artists.
The History of Literature. This is about, well, the history of literature i.e. the contexts that created impressive writers, literary movements, and literary works. It also debates and critically discusses classic works.
The Korea File. Y'all know I love kpop and kdramas and by extension, am quite fascinated by Korean culture and society given how much I interact with Korean media. This podcast, produced by a couple of Korean guys, critically explores Korean media, culture, society, and history.
Not Just the Tudors. A fun history podcast that doesn't only cover English Tudor history, but definitely covers a whole damn lot of English Tudor history. Mainly focuses on 13th-17th century global history.
Classical Stuff You Should Know. A podcast about the classical world, the Western Canon, and world philosophy. Discussions of the classics are in conversational layman terms. Topics not restricted to the Graeco-Roman world.
Why Theory. A podcast that uses philosophy and psychological theory to examine culture, history, art and human behavior. Lots of pertinent contemporary social topics are discussed.
Brown History. A podcast about South Asia and "brown" Asian demographics. A wide range of topics, from Pakistani history to the Indian diaspora to Afghan migration to the colonization of India by Great Britain.
Philosophize This!. This podcast covers philosophy, philosophies, and philosophers. I highly recommend listening to the episodes in order as much as possible. Breaks down the complex philosophical ideas using simple terms.
The Thing About Austen. This is a podcast about the world of Jane Austen from the time period to the people to the culture which influenced her big literary hits. Hits that sweet spot between literature and history in a creative way. Recommend for all the Pride and Prejudice (2005) fanatics.
#i could make at least three more of these lmfao#if you have an oddly specific podcast rec request hmu#podcasts#spotify#postcast recs#podcast recommendations#podcast reviews#podcasting#history#literature#books and literature#book blog#nerdy#studyblr#learning#education#light academia#light academia blog#philosophy

Im gonna need your like, whole musical rec list, bc literally every song you have posted has not flopped once, give me your faves i need to eat them
OUGHHH YOUVE UNLOCKED THE BEAST ARGSHHFHJDF....
in the interest of making this both easily accessible but not stretching the dashboard, im embedding bandcamp links when i can, otherwise linking to youtube when unavailable
in no particular order, inclusion based mostly on what im still actively into LMAO but also just things you should give a go at least once:
list of artist recommendations
zeal and ardor: described as a mix of african-american spirituals and black metal. try devil is fine, you aint coming back, wake of a nation or church burns
bloodywood: indian folk metal, literally nobody is doing it like them. recently featured in monkey man (2024), try chakh le, yaad or dana dan
stromae: if youve never heard any of his songs WHAT ARE YOU DOING..... incredible lyricist, described as a blend of hip hop/electronic. papaoutai made the rounds on tumblr a while back, but you should also try santé and l'enfer
alamat: pinoy pop. a youtube commenter described them as sounding like 2nd gen kpop which probably also explains why i took a shine to them LMAO, notable for the amount of filipino culture on display and the diversity thereof (singing in different languages, themes). first heard them thru kasmala either here or on twitter lmao, try aswang or maharani
andy bull: alt-pop. a lot of poppy and upbeat songs with a melancholic undertone imo. an australian artist, try it's all connected or keep on running
cosmo sheldrake: electronic, wikipedia also lists him as folktronica and baroque pop. you may have heard the song come along on an apple ad - hes known for sampling sounds from nature. pliocene for example features sounds from endangered ecosystems.
if you like cosmo sheldrake, you might like hidden orchestra (electronica, ambient). also making use of field recordings, i really love the archipelago mixtape but its a hard sell at about an hour lmao. if you like the following song then i implore you to give it a go
son lux: experimental, you may have heard from them in the entire soundtrack for everything everywhere all at once (!!!!!). try dangerous, dream state (brighter night) or live another life.
ammar 808: electronic/world fusion, also behind bargou 08 (folk rock you should also listen to). i just cant get ain essouda out of my head, but i also love geeta duniki
miyavi: j-rock, used to be a visual kei artist. these days he might be known more for anime openings like flashback (kokkoku) or other side (id:invaded), or for work like snakes in arcane (or actually inspiring and voicing a character in it), but ive always been partial to his early work like sukkyanen myv or ashita, genki ni naare
songs/albums
'threads' album by now, now (indie rock).
'dream to make believe' or 'what to do when you are dead' by armor for sleep (rock, emo). here's the truth about heaven from the latter album
i already posted about it but denzel curry's 13lood 1n + 13lood out mixx (rap, trap) is extremely good
the guilty gear soundtracks and im so serious im not fucking joking. different kinds of rock and metal and all sorts of influences put in, a genuine labor of love. xrd and earlier games are mainly instrumental with some vocal tracks (try give me a break or big blast sonic), while strive pretty much always includes vocals (of course i need to rec rock parade, but also try requiem. its genuinely hard for me to pick and choose lmao)
not an album and not an artist
coke studio pakistan and coke studio bangla knocking it out of the fucking park, im particularly a fan of harkalay and kotha koiyo na. you could try the other coke studios too (tamil, india, etc)
triple j like a version is when the radio station triple j brings in artists and has them do a cover of a song (artists choice). i liked denzel curry's cover of bulls on parade and flume's shooting stars (video for this one is incredible, man had a vision you just have to stick it out), but you get a lot of interesting interpretations like the wombats' running up that hill, gordi's in the end or, infamously. the wiggles' elephant
ive DEFINITELY missed out some, but thats what my music tag is for LMAO i hope someone discovers something they like here!!!!
#ive tried to include a mix of songs that covers their range..#includes the ones i like but ALSO is easiest on newcomers#particularly with the metal bands LMAO#eg church burns isnt really my favorite on the album but i remember it being the song i started with#specifically because someone in the reviews said it would be the easiest to start with. and they were right#also miyavi HAD to be here ive been a fan since GRADE SCHOOL#if ive recommended an album and not the artist its probably because im not a huge fan of their other stuff LMAO either cos#theyve moved away from what ive recommended stylistically (armor for sleep or now now)#or i havent gotten to a lot of the other stuff/its not my thing (denzel curry. sorry)#i liked the song ricky but a lot of the discography just isnt what i listen to rip#honestly it was so hard to choose AHSDUSDF i tried to choose artists that i really think others should listen to#but yeah obviously some are just there because. /i/ like them lol#wait not me reading the ask properly again and seeing that the focus was MY faves ASHDSDFSDHFBSDf#i got too excited at the prospect of recommending music#sonochinosodomy#ask#Bandcamp#music#obviously this couldnt be Everything... but ive done my best#to pare it down.............#long post
