Fifty shades of Kamala Harris: Who is the US Democratic presidential hopeful really?
Tumblr media
When asked by his interviewer at the National Association of Black Journalists convention whether he believes Kamala Harris only got on the presidential ticket because she is a Black woman, Donald Trump replied that Harris previously “was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage.”
"I didn't know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don't know. Is she Indian or is she Black?" Trump said.
While Western mainstream media outlets rushed to discredit Trump’s remarks, evidence shared on social media by concerned users suggests that Harris indeed previously identified as Indian-American. Some even wondered aloud whether Harris can even identify as Black.
Meanwhile, Harris has been “revising” her stance on various poignant issues in what appears to be a bid to score points on the campaign trail. Whereas in 2019 when she was running for president, Harris proclaimed that she favored a fracking ban, her campaign told media last month that Harris – who co-sponsored the so-called New Green Deal five years ago – no longer supports the ban.
“Trump’s false claims about fracking bans are an obvious attempt to distract from his own plans to enrich oil and gas executives at the expense of the middle class,” a spokesperson for her campaign told The Hill after the ex-POTUS said at a rally that Harris “wants no fracking.”
This week, Harris also boasted that she is tougher on border security than Trump: a rather strange claim, considering that she failed to stem the steady flow of illegal migrants across the US southern border despite specifically being tasked by Joe Biden in 2021 to deal with this issue.
"I went after transnational gangs, drug cartels and human traffickers that came into our country illegally. I prosecuted them in case after case, and I won," Harris said, claiming that Trump, on the other hand, has only been “talking big” but “does not walk the walk.”
Tumblr media
Harris also brought flak while trying to fake a Southern drawl during a campaign event in Georgia in an apparent attempt to pander to her audience.
She would be anything you want just to get your vote. 🤔

The Science Museum has been forced to cut ties with oil giant Equinor over its sponsor’s environmental record, the Observer can reveal.
Equinor has sponsored the museum’s interactive “WonderLab” since 2016, but the relationship is now coming to close, a move that will be seen as a major victory for climate change campaigners.
The sponsorship deal had been controversial because of Equinor’s role in Rosebank, the biggest undeveloped oil and gas field in the North Sea, which the government gave the go-ahead to develop last year.
The company also inserted a “gagging clause” in its original deal with the museum, which prevented staff from making comments that could be seen as “discrediting or damaging the goodwill or reputation” of Equinor.
The move has added to pressure on the museum to cut ties with other fossil fuel sponsors, including the oil giant BP and the Indian coal-mining conglomerate Adani.
Last year the Church of England cut its fossil fuel investments after concluding no big oil and gas company was “aligned with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement, as assessed by the Transition Pathway Initiative”.
The move is a major shift in policy by the museum, which has forcefully defended its relationships with oil and gas companies in the past. In 2019, Blatchford told the Financial Times that “even if the Science Museum were lavishly publicly funded I would still want to have sponsorship from the oil companies”.
The move comes after the controversy surrounding investment manager Baillie Gifford and its ties to Israel and fossil fuel companies.
A campaign by Fossil Free Books led to Baillie Gifford ending funding for nine book festivals, including Edinburgh, Cheltenham and the Hay festival, which was the first to decline sponsorship after speakers began to boycott the event.

Always gonna be annoyed by "war for oil memes" which will haunt the US till the end of time I am sure. Has the US ever fought a war for oil? I don't think so, with maybe a few asterisks. Like oh sure the "Tanker War" of the 1980's against Iran was literally over oil, but the term "war" is ill-used here, it was a few naval skirmishes over a blockade zone (And backed by the international community, like almost all sealane security actions). What else, the First Gulf War? I will accept the asterisk but enforcing the no-conquest norm was definitely in the driver's seat (not like Iraq didn't want to sell oil to the US!). Maybe a motive at some point in some of the Indian-American wars?
But yeah in the main the US never had to fight a war for oil since it had/has oil (mainly from a war before anyone cared about oil, coincidentally). Meanwhile a loooot of other militaries have fought wars for oil - it was a bit of big deal in the first half of the 20th century and onwards. I can think of, um, some really huge wars actually, where oil was the key motivation! There are definitely nations & militaries that you could slap the war for oil meme on - the US is just ironically one of the least fitting targets for it.

In the 19th century, British colonists faced several challenges in India, [...] [including] malaria. [...] The imperialists needed an answer to the problem and they found it in quinine. [...] [T]he British promptly embraced quinine, consuming tonnes of it every year by the mid-1800s. [...] Quinine was so bitter that soldiers and officials began mixing the powder with soda and sugar, unwittingly giving birth to “tonic water”. [...] [I]t prompted Winston Churchill to once proclaim, “The gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen’s lives, and minds, than all the doctors in the Empire.” [...] If by some good fortune malaria did not claim them, plague, cholera, dysentery, enteric fever, hepatitis or the unforgiving sun could. Preserving and protecting the body was [...] crucial to the success of the colonial project. As historian EM Collingham aptly summarised in her study, “The British experience of India was intensely physical.”
One way the colonists tried to deal with this challenge was through food and drinks. “The association between food and the maintenance of health was a concern of Anglo-Indian doctors, dieticians and the British authorities throughout the duration of colonial rule [...],” writes Sam Goodman in Unpalatable Truths: Food and Drink as Medicine in Colonial British India. [...]
---
The Medical Gazette, for instance, recommended treating dysentery with a “low diet” comprising thin chicken soup [...]. Botanist-physician George Watt too extolled the virtues of sago. In A Dictionary of the Economic Products of India (1893), he wrote that sago is “easily digestible and wholly destitute of irritating properties” and in demand [...]. For fever, weakness and sundry ailments, beef tea [...] was considered an ideal remedy. And for cholera, The Seamen’s New Medical Guide (1842) prescribed brandy during the worst of the sickness and half a tumbler of mulled wine with toasted bread and castor oil [...]. Ship masters and pantrymen would stock their vessels with foods with known medicinal benefits such as sago, arrowroot, lime juice, desiccated milk and condensed milk (the iconic Anglo Swiss Condensed Milk tins, later known as Milkmaid, enjoyed a permanent spot on British ships).
---
Businessmen too recognised the precarity of life abroad and realised that therein lay a perfect commercial opportunity. By the 19th century, numerous companies had cropped up across Europe, including in England, that would sell food in hermetically sealed tin containers.
One of these was Messrs Brand & Co. Recommended highly in Culinary Jottings for Madras by Colonel Robert Kenney-Herbert, Messrs Brand & Co had several offerings [...]: essence of beef, concentrated beef tea, beef tea jelly, meat lozenges, [...] potted meat, York and game pie, and A1 sauce [...]. Another company, John Moir & Sons, focused mostly on canned soups [...], selling oxtail, turtle, giblet and hare.
---
By the late 19th century such was the popularity of canned foods that rare would be the pantry in a colonial home that didn’t store them along with medical provisions like opium, quinine, chlorodyne and Fowler’s solution (an arsenic compound). [...] As Flora Steele and Grace Gardiner wrote in The Complete Indian Housekeeper and Cook, “A good mistress will remember the breadwinner requires blood-forming nourishment, and the children whose constitutions are being built up day by day, sickly or healthy, according to the food given them; and bear in mind the fact that in India, especially, half the comfort of life depends on clean, wholesome, digestible food.”
To assist the British woman in this ostensible duty, there were a number of cookbooks and housekeeping manuals [...]. The Englishwoman in India, for instance, published in 1864 under the pseudonym A Lady Resident, had a whole section with recipes for “infants and invalids”. These included carrot pap cooked into a congee with arrowroot [...] and toast water (well-toasted bread soaked in water). Steele and Gardiner too had a few recipe recommendations [...], including champagne jelly (“most useful in excessive vomiting”) and the dangerous-sounding Cannibal Broth (beef essence), which they said should be consumed with cream [...] to treat extreme debility and typhoid. [...]
---
One dish born of this encounter was the pish pash. The pish pash is considered an invention of the colonial cook, who adapted the kedgeree – the colonial cousin of khichdi – into a light nursery food. The famous Hobson-Jobson defined it as “a slop of rice soup with small pieces of meat” [...]. None other than Warren Hastings, the first governor-general of Bengal, gave confirmation of its efficacy when in 1784 he wrote to his wife from the sick bed [...]. There are enough records to show that the imperialists counted marh (starch water from cooked rice) and bael (wood apple) sherbet among their go-to remedies and benefited from the medicinal qualities of chiretta water and ajwain-infused water.

Pitch for a “The Dark Pictures Anthology” game:
1) The title
“The Thrill of the Hunt”
2) Prologue
1920, British-controlled India. Jaspreet Singh and Sameer Patel, Indian rebels who fought against the British Empire (the false protagonists of the prologue), have been captured by the British Army. Although they’ve been sentenced to execution, they learn that they are actually being transferred to the Kingsley Gentlemen’s Society. From what we can tell of the Society, it’s run by the rich and powerful of British society.
Jaspreet and Sameer then learn the reason why they’ve been transferred. Today is the day of “The Hunt” where the Society members work together to take down the prey in the designated game preserve. And Jaspreet and Sameer are the game.
Since this is the prologue, Jaspreet and Sameer unfortunately end up being killed by the Society.
3) Main story
Present day, Falkland Islands. Five strangers have been brought to the mansion of the Kingsley Gentlemen’s Society. Four of the strangers are there after being invited by the Society while the fifth is there because they are dating one of the Society members. For the invitees, they all have the same goal; join the Society and cement their status as part of the upper class.
But, just like with Sameer and Jaspreet, that’s not the case at all. Today is, once again, the day of “The Hunt”. Since the 1920s, the Society has gotten bored of hunting down people who have already been sentenced to death. To get an extra thrill, the Society now targets the hopeful and wealthy.
In the main villain’s words, “it is far more satisfying to tear down people who are happy and actually have something to lose since you know that it is you who caused their despair”.
As the players, it is up to you to determine if the five strangers can work together as a team to either escape or destroy the Kingsley Gentlemen’s Society. Or end up becoming just another trophy on their shelves…
4) Playable cast
a. Desmond Johnson (ADVENTUROUS, RATIONAL): A highly successful American lawyer whose dream is to become a Supreme Court Justice one day. Desmond becomes the de facto leader of the group. He is played by the celebrity guest actor, Michael B. Jordan.
b. Faye Simmons (NAIVE, INQUISITIVE): A biologist from London who was dating one of the Society members. Much to her horror, she learns that the reason why the Society member wanted to date her was so that he could lure her in and force her to participate in The Hunt.
c. Hiroki Akashi (STERN, OVERBEARING): A high-ranking shareholder of a Japanese corporation. Despite coming off as a little vain and arrogant, he does show a willingness to work with the group since he wants to make it home to his children.
d. Omar al-Ghazi (PARANOID, AMBITIOUS): A Saudi Arabian oil tycoon who has trouble trusting other people. His behavior is a result of numerous business deals that went wrong due to people betraying him, as well as his family becoming estranged to him. Despite this, Omar does take pride in his ambitious nature, even if he ended up alienating his loved ones.
e. Adrianna Reyes (ABRASIVE, LONELY): A Mexican billionaire businesswoman who is currently dealing with a scandal. She reveals to the group that even though she’s married, she had an affair with an unnamed Senator in the Mexican Senate. The reason for the affair was that her current marriage is loveless, only done for political reasons.

MINUTAL MATIANUM (ROMAN PORK WITH APPLES, 1st c.)
It's a been a tougher week than usual - my husband broke his leg and had surgery, and I'm dealing with some dental pain - but amongst it all, I thought it would be a good idea to treat ourselves with a Tasting History dish that is especially hearty and comforting: Minutal Matianum (Roman Pork with Apples). From the quintessential Roman source by Apicius from the 1st c., De Re Coquinaria, this meat dish is made using ingredients that would have been available to Roman soldiers in Britain, near forts in the area of Hadrian's Wall. This hearty dish was probably closer to what the officers of the Roman army would have eaten rather than the foot soldiers, however. I decided to make this dish because my husband and I have enjoyed most of the Roman recipes I've made so far, and Max exclaimed this was the best Roman dish even he had made so far. We hope this dish provides us with the fortitude of a Roman soldier on the frontiers! See Max’s video on how to make the dish here or see the ingredients and process at the end of this post, sourced from his website.
My experience making it:
As usual for me with Roman recipes, I struggled to compile all of the specific listed ingredients, but I did my best! I sourced a pork shoulder from our local butcher, and for the ground meat, I used a mix of 60% beef and 40% pork (a very common mixture here in Germany). For the pork roast rub, I used oil, a bit of salt, lots of pepper, and a tablespoon and a half of linden tree blossom honey. For the meatballs, I didn't use any egg to bind them, as I didn't have any on hand. Instead of garum, I used an Asian fish sauce (which Max suggests as a substitute). For the apples, I used some sweet Pink Lady apples (which I definitely snacked on while I was cooking). Instead of the long pepper Max used, I used the tablespoon of peppercorns. I decided to omit the asafoetida completely, as I couldn't find it at 4 different supermarkets, including the bio-supermarket and the Turkish supermarket. I've recently learned that I should look instead at an Indian supermarket, so now I'm on the hunt for one! I reduced grape juice myself to make defrutum, as Saba seems a little expensive. Instead of starch/cornflour, I used regular white flour, since I think they would function fairly similarly.
First, I set out making the rub for the pork roast. Nice and simple with olive oil, salt, pepper, and honey, I loved that I could customize this part to my tastes (give me that sharp pepper taste!). Next, because I didn't have a roasting rack, I made one myself out of tin foil by taking a large sheet, rolling it into a snake shape, and curving it into a zig-zag pattern on top of a layer of tinfoil at the bottom of my pan. It fit the pork perfectly, and then I added the rub and tossed it in the oven. My pork shoulder was just over 2 pounds, so I roasted it for just over 2 hours. While it was cooking, I rolled my meatballs (sans egg), ground my spices for the sauce in the mortar and pestle (which took awhile), and chopped and portioned the ingredients for the next steps. When the pork was almost done cooking, I began cooking the meatballs in olive oil, also adding in the leeks. I added in the chicken stock and garum, stirring to get any bits from the bottom to release their flavour.
While this cooked on the stovetop, the pork roast was ready to take out of the oven. It looked wonderful and smelled delicious! I let it sit for a little bit, then chopped it into cubes and added them to the pot with the meatballs. I added in the cilantro, then a little bit more chicken stock so the pork and meatballs were 3/4 submerged and sizzling nicely in the juices. I simmered it for 15 minutes, then added the apple chunks. I simmered it further, but for less than the 20 minutes in the recipe (more like 15). I portioned the meat and apples into our serving bowls to cool a little while I prepared the quick sauce, being sure to leave some of the juices in order to provide the base to the sauce. I added the juices, defrutum, white wine vinegar, garum, and honey to a pot, added the crushed spices/herbs, and brought it to a light boil, stirring often. I made a roux with some flour by mixing a bit of water into it, then added it to my sauce to thicken it. By the looks of it, I think I ended up thickening it a decent amount more than Max did, but I like a thicker sauce, so I wasn't too upset about that. I took it off the heat once it was combined and thickened, and drizzled it over the pork, meatballs, and apples. It looked absolutely scrumptious - the sauce added a nice silky shine to the meat, the leeks added a pretty green, the peppercorns some texture, and the apples a beautiful yellow and red pop of colour. I served the Minutal Matianum with a side Greek Salad to balance the heaviness of the meat.
My experience tasting it:
I made sure my first bite was with pork, apple, and some sauce - it was very tasty! The pork was tender enough, but I might have overcooked it just a little. Luckily, the tougher, hearty texture was balanced by the crisp and light flavour of the apple and the acidity, sweetness, spice-infused, and herbed flavour of the silky gravy-like sauce. Like Max mentioned, the sauce first tastes a bit sour due to the vinegar, but it melts into a sweetness from the defrutum and honey. It is still a very 'Roman' flavour of sauce - I could taste hints of the previous Roman sauces I have made in other dishes in this one, but this one was more like a gravy, and maybe more in line with the modern palate. In terms of herbs and spices, I found that peppercorn and cilantro were the most forward in the sauce - the mint and cumin were just barely there. I decided to make my next bite a meatball with some sauce, apple and leek: an absolute winning combo! I don't always have time to make a pork roast, so I can't see myself making Minutal Matianum often in its complete form, but I will most certainly make the sauce with apples and meatballs again in the future. Like Max, my husband and I both agreed this is our favourite of the Roman dishes I've made so far. This is a great meal for late fall/early winter, and I will probably make it again as the weather gets colder this fall. If you end up making this dish, if you liked it, or if you changed anything from the original recipe, do let me know!

Minutal Matianum (Roman Pork with Apples) original recipe (1st c.)
Sourced from De Re Coquinaria by Apicius, 1st century.
Put oil, garum, stock, chopped leek and cilantro and small ground meatballs in a pot. Chop previously cooked shoulder of pork with skin into cubes. Cook all together. Half-way through cooking add cored and diced Matian apples. While it cooks, grind pepper, cumin, cilantro and coriander seed, mint, and silphium root, pour in vinegar, honey, garum, defrutum, and some of the cooking liquid. Adjust the flavors with vinegar. Bring to a boil. Add broken tracta to thicken. Sprinkle pepper and serve.
Modern Recipe
Based on De Re Coquinaria by Apicius (1st c.) and Max Miller’s version in his Tasting History video.
Ingredients:
Roasted Pork
Pork shoulder
Olive oil
Salt
Pepper
Honey
Pork and Apples
1 tbsp olive oil
3/4 lb (340g) ground pork or beef, shaped into 1” balls
1 cup chopped leek
1 cup (235ml) chicken stock, plus extra as needed
2 teaspoons garum*
Small handful chopped cilantro
1 lb (450g) roasted pork, cut into cubes
1 lb (450g) sweet apples, cored and cut into about 1” pieces
Sauce
1 tsp cumin
2 tsp chopped cilantro
1 tbsp coriander seeds
2 tsp chopped mint
4 long peppers or 1 tbsp of peppercorns
1/2 tsp asafoetida
1/4 cup (60ml) white wine vinegar
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp garum*
1/4 cup (60ml) defrutum**
1/4 cup (60ml) cooking liquid from the pork and apples
2 tsp starch or cornflour
*Garum was a fermented fish sauce that was used in a lot of ancient Roman cooking. You can buy a modern equivalent or use an Asian fish sauce.
**Defrutum was a 1/3 reduction of grape must. Today, Saba is pretty much the same thing. It can be expensive, so you can reduce some grape juice instead.
Method:
For the roasted pork: Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with foil, then place a roasting rack on top of it.
In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, pepper, and honey. There should be enough to coat the pork roast. Adjust the amounts to your liking.
Brush the olive oil mixture onto the pork, then roast for 15 minutes.
Lower the temperature to 275°F (135°C) and cook for about an hour per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches at least 165°F (74°C).
For the pork and apples: Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat, then add the meatballs and leeks and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until they start to brown.
Deglaze the pot with the chicken stock and garum. Toss in the cilantro and roasted pork. Add enough additional chicken stock so that it covers the bottom of the pot.
Simmer for 15 minutes, adding more stock if necessary.
Add the apples, then cook for another 20 minutes or until the meatballs are fully cooked.
For the sauce: Grind the spices and herbs with a mortar and pestle, then put them in a saucepan with the liquid ingredients. Stir together and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
Mix the starch with a little water, then add it to the sauce. Simmer for a couple of minutes until it thickens.
To serve: Dish the pork and apples into a bowl, drizzle with the sauce, and serve it forth.

Russia is recalibrating its balancing act within the RIC triangle.
Reuters reported that Russia agreed to supply India with nearly half a million barrels of discounted oil a day for 10 years in a deal that’s worth $13 billion a year at today’s prices and amounts to 0.5% of global supply. It follows Defense Minister Singh’s visit to Moscow where he praised their friendship as "higher than the highest mountain and deeper than the deepest ocean” and precedes Putin’s trip to India next year. This is a historic deal with many implications, the top five most significant of which are as follows:
----------
1. Reliable Revenue & Accelerated Growth
Russia will receive reliable budgetary revenue while India’s growth will accelerate from the large-scale import of discounted oil, thus enabling the first to better manage sanctions pressure while the second will approach its goal of becoming the world’s third-largest economy at a faster pace. This decade-long arrangement also creates a solid basis for diversifying from their strategic partnership’s hitherto military-centricity, and it’s possible that some of Russia’s forthcoming profits could be reinvested inside of India.
2. Russia’s South Asian Energy Pivot
The abovementioned trend is part of Russia’s South Asia energy pivot, which also includes Afghan and Pakistani dimensions that were elaborated on here in terms of the larger context. The Kremlin plans to preemptively avert potentially disproportionate dependence on China by relying on the South Asian market, with India at its core, as a counterbalance. RT importantly informed their audience that “The new deal reportedly accounts for roughly a half of Rosneft’s seaborne oil exports from Russian ports.”

Buy SS 304 Blind Flange | Lowest Price in India
SS 304 Blind Flanges are a vital component for industrial piping systems, known for their durability, corrosion resistance, and strength. These flanges, made from stainless steel grade 304, are designed to seal the ends of pipes or valves, making them ideal for industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, water treatment, and more. For businesses in India, finding SS 304 Blind Flanges at the lowest price is essential for minimizing operational costs while ensuring high-quality performance. With a wide range of suppliers offering competitive pricing, it's easier than ever to source these flanges at the best rates.
What is SS 304 Blind Flange?
SS 304 Blind Flanges are flat, circular components used to close off the ends of pipelines, valves, or pressure vessels. Unlike other flanges, the blind flange does not have a central bore, meaning it completely blocks the flow of liquid or gas through the pipe. This makes it useful for isolating sections of a piping system for maintenance, testing, or system shutdowns.
The material used in these flanges—stainless steel grade 304—is an austenitic alloy with high chromium (18%) and nickel (8%) content. This composition gives SS 304 its excellent corrosion resistance, making it a perfect choice for harsh industrial environments where chemicals, moisture, and high temperatures are present.
Benefits of SS 304 Blind Flange
1. Outstanding Corrosion Resistance: The SS 304 Blind Flange’s high chromium content allows it to form a passive layer of chromium oxide on its surface, which prevents rust and corrosion. This makes it ideal for use in chemical processing, oil refineries, water treatment plants, and other industries that deal with corrosive environments.
2. High Strength and Durability: SS 304 Blind Flanges are designed to withstand extreme pressures and temperatures. This makes them suitable for high-pressure applications, including oil and gas pipelines, steam systems, and heavy-duty processing plants. Their durability ensures long-term performance without frequent replacements, reducing maintenance costs.
3. Low Maintenance: Due to its superior resistance to corrosion and wear, SS 304 Blind Flanges require minimal maintenance compared to other materials. This makes them a cost-effective choice for industries where reliable performance and low upkeep are critical.
4. Versatile Applications: SS 304 Blind Flanges are used across a wide range of industries. They are suitable for temporarily sealing off pipelines during repairs or permanently closing off systems. Their versatility makes them valuable in oil and gas, petrochemical, marine, pharmaceutical, food processing, and water treatment industries.
Why Buy SS 304 Blind Flanges in India?
India is home to a vast array of suppliers and manufacturers offering SS 304 Blind Flanges at competitive prices. Buying locally ensures that you have access to high-quality products that meet Indian and international standards, such as ASTM or ASME certifications. Here are a few reasons why purchasing SS 304 Blind Flanges in India makes sense:

Tips for Finding SS 304 Blind Flanges at the Lowest Price in India
1. Compare Multiple Suppliers: When purchasing SS 304 Blind Flanges in India, it’s important to compare prices from several suppliers. This will allow you to find the most competitive pricing while ensuring the quality of the product.
2. Look for Bulk Discounts: If your project requires a large quantity of flanges, ask suppliers about bulk pricing. Many manufacturers offer substantial discounts for large orders, helping you reduce the cost per unit.
3. Check for Certifications: Make sure the supplier offers SS 304 Blind Flanges that meet industry standards like ASTM, ASME, or DIN. Certified products provide assurance that the flange will perform under the required conditions.
4. Negotiate for Better Pricing: Negotiation is common in the industrial supply market. If you’re placing a large order or planning a long-term partnership, don’t hesitate to ask for better terms or discounts.
5. Look for Seasonal or Promotional Offers: Some suppliers may offer seasonal discounts or promotional deals on SS 304 Blind Flanges. Stay on the lookout for such opportunities to get the best value for your money.

Note
Benjamin Netanyahu and israeli defense forces and hamas are scum and did to Palestines
You are entitled to have your own opinion. But let me give you a background story and then you decide who is wrong and who is not.I won't defend anyone,I'll just provide you some well established facts that are easily available on the internet, you can cross-check.
After the end of world war 1 ottoman empire(islamic caliphate and present day Turkiye) collapsed at the hands of British Empire. Some arab countries were formed and the rest of the land was colonized by French and British Empire. The same British Empire that was notorious for colonizing and killing native populations of the indian subcontinent, Australia, canada, egypt,Solomon islands, huge parts of Africa.............The British empire ruled the British mandate of palestine for some years then after making deal with zionists from Europe they gave palestine to the zionist jews. After killing lakhs of Palestinians destroying their homes and burning their farms,a new state of israel was found in 1948.With the help of USA, israel defeated every arab country that tried to take back palestine.Israel continued to kill Palestinians for making space for more and more settlers.
I may have ideological differences with hamas but what they did on 7th of october is what resistance groups are doing throughout the world.Hamas got an Intel that Israel is planning to kick out Palestinians from gaza because they have found oil and gas worth hundreds of billions of dollar near gaza strip. And now it is available in public domain that Israel has awarded oil extraction contracts to oil companies.
Most of the Israeli settlers that died on 7th october were mostly dual american/European citizenship holders.A native Palestinian cannot have a citizenship/passport,basic commodities like food and house but a settler from Europe/America has the right to have rave parties on stolen land. What kind of Justice is this???
80% of hamas Fighter are orphans, their parents were killed by Israeli military.Chalo let's assume that hamas is evil then what about the Palestinians who are killed and kicked out of their homes in west bank. There is no hamas or any so-called 'terrorist group'in west bank.Israeli violence became so much in west bank that even america requested israel to stop its new settlements in the west bank.
Armed rebellion is permissible according to the international law.Only America and Europe(I think excluding norway and switzerland) have designated hamas as terror group.Major powers like India,Russia and China do not recognize hamas as terror group. After this october attack Israel urged India,Russia and China to declare hamas as terror group.Russia and China have clearly declined and India has not responded to Israel's request,so you can take that as no.

2024 / 03
Aperçu of the Week:
"Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts."
(Winston Chrchill, former multi- & prime minister of Great Britain, historian and Nobel Prize winner for literature)
Bad News of the Week:
NATO is launching a maneuver in the next days. With 90,000 soldiers, "Steadfast Defender" is the largest since the end of the Cold War. What is being simulated - seriously, according to the official announcement! - is the defense "against an attack by Russia on NATO territory". Ooph... That's how far we've come now. Or again.
At the same time, the Ukrainian government is planning a massive increase in the conscription of its men. Hundred thousands additional soldiers are to go to war. With no combat experience, hardly any training and a faltering supply of equipment. This also acknowledges what observers have long assumed: that Vladimir Putin is relying on a protracted war of attrition. Unfortunately, from a strategic point of view, he is right.
In contrast to Russia's well-oiled arms industry, the West's military support for Ukraine is decreasing. The most important supplier, the USA, in particular, no longer has a budget at its disposal due to the refusal of a group of arch-conservative Republicans. A group that absurdly calls itself the "freedom caucus" - which apparently does not apply to support for a country that has been innocently attacked and is ultimately defending its freedom.
A colleague told me about his assessment that the election of Donald Jessica Trump at the end of November this year would probably have its good side too. After all, he would strike a deal with Putin on the price he would be willing to pay for an agreement and, of course ("America first"), stop all support for Ukraine at the same time. Which would then have no choice but to hand over Crimea, the Donbas and the territories in between to Russia. Phew...
Good News of the Week:
People are standing up. In sub-zero temperatures, millions of Germans are actually gathering on streets and squares to stand up against right-wing extremists and for democracy. The motto is "Never again is now!". Many are attending a demonstration for the first time, bringing children with them, having painted posters - democracy at work. I have been waiting a long time for the silent majority to finally stop being silent in the face of rising poll figures for the right-wing AfD (Alternative für Deutschland / Alternative for Germany) - currently at 22%.
The trigger was a subversive meeting of right-wing extremists who discussed strategies to deport all non-Germans, to put it simply. Uncovered by investigative journalists. I learned the word "demigration" in the process. Don't get me started on how valuable the so-called guest workers (mainly Turks) were for the German economic miracle back in the 1960s. That care for the elderly in this country would collapse without Eastern Europeans. Or that neither commercial kitchens would be able to survive without Filipinos nor IT departments without Indians. That immigration is necessary to maintain prosperity in our ageing society. And that integration fails more often due to a lack of willingness to accept immigrants than a lack of adaptability of those.
We are all human beings. A species that only exists because it has perfected the principle of cooperation. When one person goes hunting, another has to take care of the fire. Today we call that specialization. Or when was the last time you milked a cow, tilled a field, forged a shovel or prepared a medicine? Exactly. Morally, this becomes a community of solidarity in which not only does everyone do what they do best for everyone else, but the strong also stand up for the weak. You simply can't be blind in the right eye.
It is fitting that last week the Bundestag decided to amend the legislation on citizenship for immigrants. Against the votes of the conservative CDU/CSU and - surprise! - the AfD. In short: it will be easier and quicker than before. Above all because dual citizenship will be possible. It is important to know that in Germany, out of a population of 84 million, at least 12 million do not have a German passport. And are therefore not allowed to vote, for example. This door is now open. For a good 1.5 million Turks. And my wife. I have a strong suspicion that the radical right-wing AfD will not score any points with these citizens with their degenerate values.
Personal happy moment of the week:
We got rid of a monster. Eight years ago, I took over a yucca palm from a friend that was getting too big for his home. And I had a good place for it. And then only problems. The stubborn thing grew in all the wrong directions, attracted vermin and for years dripped a sticky secretion that ruined the sofas next to it, rendered a lamp useless, smeared a window and disfigured a speaker on the surround sound system. Now I've finally got round to getting rid of it. Which was difficult, because I had no room for it. It's now on the patio and dying, because it's still January in the northern hemisphere.
But I got over myself. And then for hours - there were four! - of scrubbing and cleaning to remove the incredibly dirty, sticky corner that had formed behind the sofas over the years. I managed it. And now I enjoy my first espresso in a clean living room every morning. I'm just not allowed to look out of the window to see the slow death of a living thing. Doesn't help.
I couldn't care less...
...that the train drivers' union has announced another complete rail strike. This time for a whole six days, starting last night. Workers' rights with all due respect, but if you no longer show any willingness to negotiate and the action becomes an end in itself, you are taking the population hostage. And you lose all understanding, not to mention sympathy.
It's fine with me...
...that we've had quite a mild winter this year. Because now I can take the bike to get to the station. And I don't feel guilty when my neighbors get up earlier than me to clear snow from our shared yard. And I'm happy about lower heating costs. Nice, actually. If it weren't for the human-induced climate change, what causes this mild winter. Which makes me shiver again.
As I write this...
...I listen to the first live album of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Wow, what a joy these guys bring to the stage. The Boss really knows how to work a crowd. Nice.
Post Scriptum
Gaza is still hell on earth. Unfortunately, that's all I can say at this moment. When are the next elections in Israel again?
