I know that the fandom loves having the batkids give Bruce Bat/Batman themed gifts. I get it, especially for the punny petty shadowlampy side of it.

Same with other vigilante identity themed gifts for the rest of them.

They are all THAT dramatic and petty. I get it. They take after their grandpa.

BUT.

Hear me out here: Bruce really doesn't like bats. Or Batman, for this case.... (Or any case, depending on the comic and HC) And we're all wasting the opportunity to have him being in the verge of tears just because some of his kids give him some dino-pun mug, or a cute fossil (bonus points if they Digg it off themselves) or restored, vintage Grey Ghost/Zorro merch!! You cannot find that shit anywhere these days. Hell, some of them can make it themselves.

I just think it will be cute and Bruce will be genuinely SO FREAKING HAPPY and smug about it trying to explain to whoever is his current partner or his few friends why it is THE COOLEST gift.

And the gift hunting by itself could be hilarious with all of them fighting on ebay for a gray ghost figurine or having a full off ninja fight because they found out a fossil in a nearby location and they all are trying to avoid the others AND BRUCE to get there because that's Bruce's birthday gift and ain't no time to find another one.

Catwoman can even go to "pay a visit" to a collector and "borrow" some items for their anniversary.

Thalia can make an entire group of assassin's go seek some "old relique" and have them just fossil hunting.

Khoa go to "do justice" to some collector and keeps the whole collection for when it's needed or to rub it in Bruce's face.

Supes can see straight through the layers of the earth looking for something (or scan thrift stores).

Diana may be visiting all the flea markets and using their museum contacts to get some.

Something I find myself wondering a lot is; is it ok to mischaracterize a character from a media?

I am of the opinion "everyone can have the views and headcanons they want on a character", after all, this is harmless, and most people use it as a coping mechanism or for projection. We, other users, don't have to agree with these takes, and can simply ignore it. Ideally, this is how things should be.

But, is there a point where it would go too far?

Let's say: you're not a content creator, you don't know art or don't feel like you can write a piece of fanfiction well enough. But you are really fan of a character, and you wish to find other people to discuss with about them. However, this character is fairly impopular, may it be because of their poor on-screen time or because they are barely relevant to the story. As a result, a lot of people in the fandom are unfamiliar with the character, outside of really surface knowledge.

As you do your desperate search on this character, thirsty for content, you discover a popular artist or writer, who do in fact, make content of this character! ...But you realize that the content they make is really different from the view you had on the character. Heavy headcanons, projections, out of characters memes, biased takes... You clearly don't recognize the character you love and tried to hard to study and understand in the most objective way.

But, this is a popular person - their influence on the fandom is hard to deny. Many of their followers, many which never cared enough of the character, base their opinions on what this content creator spreads. As a result, they end up loving this new, out of character version, and even make content of them, following the headcanons and version of this popular user.

You feel alone. A large majority of the fandom sees the character you love in a false, different version. You can't have a conversation about this character, because you quickly realize that the people you talk to don't understand the character and simply spit back what they learned from the popular views. When you try to share what you believe is objectively the character for what they are, people frown at you. "If you don't like it, then ignore it!", or even worse, they will argue that the version of the fandom is the correct one. You may try to bring proofs from the text, screenshot evidence, you will be seen as evil for trying to "break" their headcanons and not letting them do whatever. You just feel horrible, like you are the one in the wrong, the 'evil' one. You can't create content of your own views, you can't make a fanbase and hope to share this version you love. You may find one or two person who agrees with you, but they are often out of your reach, maybe they don't speak your language and you struggle to communicate with them.

You can't share what you love, because you feel like you're the different one around - maybe even that you're bothering, annoying, just trying to "force your headcanons" into people.

When this happen, can we really say mischaracterization is alright?

I wonder what could be done for such cases to not happen. Outside of reading comprehension, maybe we should be self aware that we are out of character, maybe we should promote other people's opinions rather than try to ignore them or invalidate them. Maybe it's better to say, "my view on this character may be biased, because I tend to project a lot and see them as a comfort character, so please don't use me as a base to build your own beliefs". Maybe, instead of saying "I hate when people think this of that character", we should say "I see people having this opinion on that character, and I see where they come from - it's genuinely good that people can find comfort in the character and love them as much as I do, no matter how different it might be."

Fandoms and other large communities are really difficult to communicate with, myself I tend to despite the "fandom view", the general opinions on characters. I wish more people could understand what the author(s) tried to communicate with the character, and not deny it. If you want a character that fits what you want, why take an already existing one and alter it, when you can build your own?

I can't stop people, I am powerless to do so. I don't want to, to be clear. It's really heavy on my mind, because I genuinely wish I could find more people like me, who agrees with me, with who I can share my ideas. I am lucky to be an artist and a writer, because I can build a fanbase around my views. I wish it was as easy for everyone, though

We should start to give more respect to the different opinions, or accept that ours is not necessarily the closest one to the canon, no matter how much we may be convinced it is.

After listening to Cake by the Ocean nonstop, I changed it to Watch Me (with the one with my favorite Jonas brother, of course 😏), because I wanted to watch the world BURN... Nah, just kidding.

I confess that I was about to draw my baby cosplaying those three instead and them doing a costume swap. until I switched it to do them separately. It was fun and yet stressful not gonna lie, but it was worth it.

I went a bit too frustrated by Lilli's design and I hated it.

God, I forgot my baby's earrings..., but I won't stop now! I'm still happy with the result.

At first I was going to make the two Lilies from below interact and talking about traslating something (possibly to Spanish), until I made up my mind and I separated them in the end. Impopular opinion: I'm happy that creepy green owl is dead.

It's not the first time I drew VOCALOID Lily in my life (I did it in my favorite notebook by trustworth pencil), but it is the first time I make it to digital.

This might be an impopular opinion (?), but I'm kinda of worried about TS mental health.

So what’s your BIGGEST “impopular” opinion about Law Of Assumption?

It's all a big fucking scam that sometimes looks as if it's a real thing because some of its practices can provide certain psychological benefits, but in the long run it's incredibly dangerous because it encourages and amplifies extremely unhealthy ways of thinking.

(I have posts about using these practices within a psychological paradigm here, if anyone's curious.)
