I’m also going to try out lore stuff in this!!

When the text looks normal (like what you’re reading right now), that is lore canon to my au. Think of it as a TV show’s character/episode summary. When the text is italicized, that is out of canon talk of me explaining my thoughts on canon and au content.

Protagonists——

Kaede Akamatsu:

The Ultimate Pianist

Reputation: 9.5/10

Main Protagonist

Kaede is pretty well respected by the other students and would do almost anything to get her new friends out alive. She is very kind and cares immensely about the other students, though she can be impulsive at times and loses her patience with other certain people. Kaede tries her best to make trials as fair and quick as possible, and attempts to hold no bias though it can be difficult not to slip in a white lie to protect those she cares about most.

Shuichi Saihara:

The Ultimate Detective

Reputation: 8/10

Deuteragonist

Shuichi is an excellent help during investigations and trials despite his anxious exterior and refusal to maintain eye contact (What is up with the hat?). He is very good at putting all the evidence together in a digestible (and unarguable) way, gaining respect from his fellow students, especially Kaede and Kaito. Unbeknownst to him and many others, his success in putting together the culprit during Trial One has gained him an enemy or two…

Antagonists——

Kokichi Ouma:

The Ultimate Supreme Leader

Reputation: 3/10

Main Antagonist

While his personality comes off as childish and annoying, the way Kokichi lies and manipulates his way through trials is extremely helpful to figuring out the identity of the Blackened. To his disadvantage, this does not make him come off as more likable to pretty much anyone who finds themselves on the receiving end of his mischief. Maybe that’s the point? If he told the truth more we could get a better read on him.

Rantaro Amami:

The Ultimate ???

Reputation: 6/10

Accidental Accomplice/Semi-Antagonist

Rantaro is a tougher nut to crack. While he is normally relaxed and friendly, his demeanor changes completely during trials, as he is apparently not afraid to hurt feelings with his cold interrogations, even if it isn’t the intent. Instead of butting heads with Kokichi, he actively goes along with his manipulative tactics to get information out of people. This makes others more wary around him though he insists it isn’t personal. It doesn’t help that he seems to mildly enjoy Kokichi’s company despite his eccentricity.

Ooc Brainstorming Ch 1/DRV3 SPOILERS PAST THIS POINT!!——

So in this au, both Kaede and Rantaro survive through Chapter One. Yay! Sadly, that means that two other characters have to go early. I brainstormed for over an hour to try and choose who to kill early. It was really hard because I love all of the canon executions and murders because of how complicated and fun to pick apart they are and I love most of the characters to death.

(At this point in time, I have only just finished Kaito’s execution, meaning I do not have the full grasp on the lore yet. I do hope this does not have dire consequences in the future.)

So Chapter One’s blackened and victim are Gonta and Keebo. I can tell something is going on with Keebo in canon atm so I cannot wait to write more about him after he dies. I don’t have it fully planned out yet, but Gonta will accidentally kill Keebo and does not know it was him until our wonderful protagonists put it together for him. (Is there something more going on here? Are Gonta’s hands really dirty?) His execution remains pretty much the same. (It was so overkill oml poor guy. Also no incesty pregnancy plot. What the fuck.)

In the actual game Shuichi ditches his hat after the first trial. But as a result of Kaede still being alive and as a person who despises eye contact myself, I have decided to wait a while for him to remove it. It takes a bit of getting used to before you can comfortably!

All of the other murders (2,3+5) will remain the same. I love them too much (although I wish the game had stuck with it’s plot twist of Angie’s killer being a different person and Kiyo remaining alive but I can’t change it without fucking up everything else lol) and I’m honestly too lazy to make up brand new murders for now. Again this may change if Ch 6 turns out to be absolutely abysmal or I decide to kill off Kiyo later than intended.

I’d just like to mention really quick I do know Rantaro’s ultimate. I could go on and on about how much I love how his character design subtly hints it (he is my favorite).

I’m also changing the reward for reaching maximum friendship. I’m sure this is self explanatory because I think it’s weird. I’ll probably make it friendship bracelets or something along those lines.

Keep in mind that this doesn’t take much lore from the anthologies/mangas, but they will be taken into account for possible interactions/relationships between characters that don’t interact much!

Chapter One Written Lore——

Before everything goes haywire in Chapter One, Shuichi and Kaede learn about the door in the library. Rantaro also learns about the door on a separate occasion. During the last ten minutes, Shuichi’s alarm goes off and the two rush down to the library to see if they caught the mastermind.

Instead of finding the orchestrater of the killing game, they find Rantaro, dazed and confused with a camera in his hands and a shot put ball next to his feet. He puts two and two together as Kaede, Shuichi, Kaito and Tenko run over to him. They didn’t hear that the alarm had stopped before they had even entered the basement.

Rantaro quickly figures out that he just had an attempt on his life while he is being crowded with questions by Kaede and Shuichi. Then the body discovery announcement goes off. Good job to our protagonists, they just gave Rantaro an alibi as they have photos of him in a place that is not the crime scene at the time of death. Yay!!

Relationships——

No good story is made without relationships! So we made every main character a classic circle relationship chart! (If these are hard to read or the colors are inconsistent across charts, I can clarify them if you send me an ask or reply about them :D)

All of these relationships are their honest opinions as of Chapter One before Keebo’s death. Don’t mind Kokichi, he kept dancing around the questions so we have no clue if he’s being genuine or not. We made ??? purple for a reason.
