Here’s a thing, he doesn’t realise that, but treating him like anything than just his present person (like an idol, someone from the past, some imaginary personality) turns him sour, big time.

Aggressiveness, even positive, scares him.

Just to be clear, Cy has completely disassociated himself from Sidestep and perceives himself as almost entirely different being.

Cy mourns naive little Sidestep, who genuinely started to believe his masters’ goal was just to help people. And that he was doing a good job of it himself, being a good dog. Only to be put down like a rabid one when they got their hands on him.

He IS nostalgic of that delusion of hope and self-assuredness Sidestep had. But it’s really hard to recall feeling like that over the cold anger he feels for what was done to Sidestep and will keep happening to others…

Actually I’m already so frustrated at all the anime dudes saying Suzume is “the same as Shinkai’s last two movies” “It’s just another girl meets boy romance” or that “Shinkai only does one thing”.

First of all, his last three movies could not be more different thematically, and all of them feature very different relationships and characters. Just because they feature romances and weather phenomena does not mean the content or the narrative arc of these films are the same.

Second of all, even if they were, the people I’ve heard say this keep up with things like marvel, dragon ball, and each new battle shonen of the season. Clearly Shinkai being “repetitive” is not even an issue even if he was. Y’all like the same thing when it’s action or adventure media.

Which brings me to third of all, the way these fans inherently value action media and take time to analyze each corporately churned out film in intense detail but write off Shinkai just comes across as being unaware of their own preferences. Just say you don’t personally like romance films, there’s nothing wrong with that, I promise. It doesn’t mean it is a bad film. They’re trying to critique art but being completely informed by their own personal bias. Imo a personal bias which, once one tries to intellectualize it, reveals itself as a personal bias which on some level subconsciously is informed by the patriarchal background noise of our society which insists stereotypically masculine interests/media/art be taken seriously, while stereotypically feminine interests/media/art (here the romance genre) are more easily written off.

Fourth of all, you are not cooler for disliking a popular director.

Them: We get such weird requests when people are privately insured.

Me: I appreciate that. In this case, though, it's just printing something from a patient file that should be there regardless of insurance status. So if you could please just--

Them: We already gave one when we sent out the bill, it goes automatic.

Me: Yessss... The patient lost theirs. This invoice says you have one on file. Would it be at all possible to give them a copy, please?

Them: It's right here on file. I promise you, we didn't forget to send it.

Me: I'm not suggesting that. I'm just asking if you could please print out another copy and give it to the patient, whose medical information this is.

Them: But we already gave it.

Me: And they lost it and now can't get this invoice reimbursed. Could you find it in your heart to check the file and press print, please?

Them: I'm not sure what that would help if we already sent one.

Me: It got lost. Without it, they can't get the fifteen hundred euros you billed reimbursed to continue to keep using your service with that money. I'm trying to help fix that and would appreciate your help in this matter.

Me: They have looked everywhere and can't find it. They've been calling everywhere for days and this one is unknown to all their doctors. Them: That went out months ago.

Me: If you still have it on file, can you reprint it?

Them: I mean, we could, but what good will it do to the patient to have two copies?

Me: ... It's a private insurance thing.

Them: Oh. How weird. Sure, I'll send another copy.

The client tried to explain to me for twenty minutes that they couldn't get a copy from their service provider, but couldn't explain why. Said admin had gotten so difficult since the accident. I thought this was long-term post-anesthesia brain fog. They thought this was long-term post-anesthesia brain fog.

After that fifteen minute call to explain the concept of losing things to a trained medical care provider, I'm no longer convinced this is long-term post-anesthesia brain fog.

So the most recent one is a kind-of-crack-fic-treated-seriously Trigun fic starring Wolfwood post trimax

He gets resurrected Lazurus style, crawls out of his own grave and everything, and when he finally hits sunlight he sees… Knives. Just. chilling there

APPARENTLY, Knives like accidentally created an apple tree then decided to fuck off into the desert for like a year instead of dying (I need him alive for this), then happened upon Wolfwood’s grave, where said priest drags himself out. I’m thinking this probably takes place about hmmmm a year? 2 years? After trimax

Idk if I would do too much with this one since it’s mostly me being like,, wouldn’t it be fucked up if the guy you used to work for was the first guy you see upon coming back from the dead? But now he’s just kinda mildly sad and has been knocked down from his pedestal so you’re kinda on equal footing for the first time in your lives? (yeah this is what I mean when I said it was kind of serious lol). It’s mostly for me to daydream about what shenanigans they would get up to while looking for Vash, and also like,, we saw Vash and Wolfwood’s clashing worldviews all of trimax, and Wolfwood is sort of the middle ground between Kni and Vash’s philosophies, so what if he’s paired up with Knives now?

I also had the idea that maybe they’d pick Livio/Razlo up along the way too, just to make things more awkward. Also I think his reaction to seeing WW alive would make me cry lol

This is also an excuse for me to stick Knives in cowboy aesthetics bc of that one line in Stampede where he claimed to love those movies. Let this stabby man wear a cowboy hat and bandana I’m begging

…There was also an alternative idea for this one where it took place two centuries after the events of trimax. Knives would be recently returned from being an apple tree and Wolfwood was resurrected by some plants and together they have to navigate a modern world neither of them recognize to find Vash but… mmmm I don’t like the modern fics for trigun very much, so I’m keeping it still in the trimax-timeline yknow? I love the cowboy aesthetic too much to drop it
