ok i know i said i wasnt gonna post about movie but i do have one thing to say

one thing i reaaally thought was interesting was the springlock scene, when he put the head back on. in the game, we see him putting the whole suit on, and head, before the springlocks kick in. he was using the costume to scare/intimidate the kids. creation turns on creator and all that.

but in the movie, the springlocks have already kicked in BEFORE he can put the head back on. it wasn’t going to make a difference what he did, there was nothing he COULD do to stop it.

i think him putting the head on was him accepting that fate. it was him knowing he was going to be killed, knowing he couldnt escape, but accepting to seal himself to his favourite yellow rabbit for the rest of his ghostly existence. in fact- not just accepting it. but choosing it. look how smug he is! he even says the so iconic “i always come back” AS he’s putting it on! he KNOWS he wont really be killed, not permanently, not while he’s springtrap.

i just think its such a cool difference from the game. where originally it was an accident, wasn’t meant to happen. this time, it was a choice. originally, it was almost a tragedy- forced to live on forever alongside his victims. we had no way to know if thats what he even would’ve wanted. but this time, it was a CHOICE.

as we enter the start of a semester and the dreaded Hour of Making Friends us upon us... if ur ever at a loss for what to say in one of those weird social situations where you only vaguely-know people, one of my favorite questions to ask is "what is your favorite food crime." a food crime is like the food combination that you love that other people find revolting. press them to take it further than pineapple on pizza, that's rote. food crimes is a good topic that has many benefits as it turns out all people are degenerates and also it will give you some cool ideas to try out later in the privacy of your own degenerate kitchen

the other good thing to ask is "okay but has anyone here ever been someplace haunted" bc it turns out if you ask most people directly they don't believe in ghosts, but many people are like "oh yeah i lived in a haunted house. ghosts aren't real tho"

I apologize if this is too direct, but I'm hoping you'll consider clarifying the trigger warnings on the itch page into "pet death" rather than just "animal death" ;; I thought it was gonna be a random animal... “jaime did it mostly for self preservation” “he did it bc he was ordered to kill his father” are not only blatantly incorrect and borderline illiterate reads of what is in the text but idk why people find it unfathomable that someone like jaime would want to prevent thousands of people from violently burning alive. like it is not actually a difficult moral equation which is why it is at the center of jaime’s arc and his relationship to his society because he realizes that the ethical constructs of westeros seem to be in opposition to this very obvious moral choice as seen by how the situation could even escalate to the point that it does through the enablement of the tyrant by the respected institution of the kingsguard and the uncritical upholding of the honor system over an actual coherent moral code. same with the scorn he receives for killing what everybody acknowledges as an objectively horrid tyrant who harmed innocents and violated law that knights are also sworn to protect and uphold and actually contradict by not acting against.

okay but the entire concept of saints in the silt verses is so immensely fucked up. like. it sets up this entire class/caste system of people whose purpose is to grease the wheels that keep the rest of society running by being tortured until their bodies are twisted and reshaped into tools of forced labour. and this conscription explicitly targets some of the most marginalised and vulnerable groups as a punishment for their perceived failure to perform an adequate or useful role in society. there doesn't even appear to be a limit - as long as the gods are fed, saints can be mass-produced and reproduced to meet whatever quota is drawn up. their dehumanisation is absolute; VAL is almost certainly not the only saint to ever retain her sapience, she's just the first where it was considered an asset - how many saints were purged shortly after their birth because they were too aware of the horror of their own existence? even progressives like shrue refer to them as "it"s, emphasising the pronoun to give weight to the point that saints are generally considered to be too divorced from their own humanity to be worth advocating for. they're just an unfortunate part of life! we have to keep our infrastructure running somehow! and when we hear from some of the legislatures who do use their (presumably) preferred pronouns as identity markers, like carson with VAL and the timothy the inspiration saint, well, that's somehow even worse, because it shows that they either see them as fundamentally disposable people who deserve what happens to them (as implied by the joke about having shrue hallowed for being too outspoken about their reservations), and/or they know that they're committing human rights violations, and they know they can get away with it.
