James slithered inside the compartment, slipping down on the spare seats.

“Hello, gents,” He nodded, putting his arm up on the headrest and grinning. “Sirius’ll be shortly, he got, ah, caught up with Mary, if you know what I mean.”

Next to Remus, Peter rolled his eyes. Remus chuckled; he knew what he meant by that gesture, but Sirius and James didn’t; it was their little thing, one of the few they had in the sea of secrets that the other two harboured.

“Blimey, Pete, you’ve grown.”

Remus turned his head around, then probably had to pick up his jaw from the floor. Sirius had shot up by at least ten centimetres over the summer, his hair had grown longer, brushing past his shoulders, and a silver hoop pierced through his nose. He had wearing large jeans and a t-shirt, boots on his feet, and his lips split into one of those mischievous grins. Something stirred in Remus’ stomach; mother of Merlin and Morgana, Sirius looked good.

“Oi, Moony, you alright?” Remus had been so impolitely out of it by Peter, who had an amused twinkle playing in his eyes. “Evans is waiting for you.”

That was true; Sirius had, in the meantime, sat down and now Lily Evans was standing in the doorway. She had feathered her hair into a hairstyle that resembled Farrah Fawcett’s, and she had already gotten dressed into her uniform, her skirt brushing just above her knees.

“Alright, Evans?” James asked, his hand reaching instinctively to ruffle his hair; Sirius smacked him over the head.

She looked for a second at him. “Alright, Potter,” She nodded. “Come on, Remus, we have to talk to the junior Prefects.”

Remus sat up quickly and promptly exited the compartment, feeling his cheeks and ears heat up.

“Black’s changed a lot over the summer, hasn’t he?” Lily asked jovially, her heels clicking against the floor as she made her way, along him, to the Prefects’ compartment.

“Uh-huh,” Remus uttered. Well, he was properly fucked.
