One of my favorite genres of music is folk/country music that is about loving someone till death. They often have the most hauntingly beautiful imagery, and are so excepting of death. This is mainly about "If We Were Vampires" by Jason Isabell and the 400 Units and "In a Week" by Hozier and I highly recommend both. These are honestly some of the most romantic songs I have ever heard because.

I'm sad this evening. Just read that Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires are ending their 11 year marriage. I know they've been struggling the last few years (and have been very forthright about it) but I was really rooting for them. I wish only the best for them and their little girl as they start down different paths in life. Sometimes love just isn't enough. 💔

😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?

Oh, here and there, for sure 😉 (Though I never do it to be mean.) It's fun to write something knowing it's going to elicit a certain reaction from a prospective reader. I can think of meaner examples in unposted stuff, but I guess my go-to mean move is almost kisses. Always fun to build that up! Especially if they get interrupted 😈 (Specific examples I remembered: Christmas dinner, St. Augustine/campaign fic)

🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?

It depends on whether I feel like it or not. It's great to get into certain moods, but it can sometimes feel distracting.

As for the song on loop, it's probably Stick Season by Noah Kahan. Much like with other artists I love and follow, he's come up in playlists in the past and I had a few songs of his saved, but it wasn't until recently that it hit and now I'm a fan. (I've also had GUTS on loop, fwiw.)

This is a song I think anyone who enjoys this post would like.

people like to bring up things like "all your loved ones would die before you" as a concern re: immortality. But the real danger for me would be that i'd literally never get anything done again. I'd adopt the elvish lifestyle immediately. Not doing anything in a week that could be done in a century. Not getting anything done in a century that can be done in 10 centuries. Spending the next 100 years reading 1 book very slowly because i have infinite time and don't care.

Unironically, I have been thinking so hard about the Warden Mahariel/Davrin concept since the first time I mentioned it. Obviously specific to my Warden, but since I'd already headcanoned she'd be working with the Veil Jumpers (thereby putting her in believable vicinity), I have had a GREAT time daydreaming about this because it's like. 40yr-old woman finally has the time and space to go through a proper coming-of-age and figure out what life looks like without the constant burden duty and leadership weighing on her, choosing to leave a decade of grief at the wayside and pursue a new love story for herself. That's not really a plot, that's just vibes and themes, but I'm so into it.

And beyond that, "Davrin gets to bang LEGENDARY Grey Warden hero, who, as it turns out, is also a Dalish hunter with a similar personality, and actually they have a lot in common" is just a top tier concept to me. And they do actually have a lot in common. Like, it always felt like getting Mahariel to move on from Alistair would be hard because there's like no one who has experienced the highly specific set of traumas that they went through together, and I think that would be an impediment for her, but like. Davrin kind of HAS been through some incredibly similar stuff, hasn't he? Which makes the points of connection even more intriguing. What if you're looking in the face of a man who's experience nearly mirrors yours, except that he CHOSE to be a Warden and you didn't, and he got to keep his name while you lost yours, and also he has a predator/prey kink and you two get weird with that while falling in love in the most hostile forest in the world? And also griffons are involved? again, no plot just vibes but tbf MOST of my fic ideas are like that, so this is par for the course
