I think a lot about Leo’s tendency to push his way into the spotlight despite clearly being a natural in the shadows. Hell, you could argue that his worst moments are when he’s forcing himself onstage, and his best are when he does things no one notices until it’s already been done.

i'm doing very well!! i haven't cut out coffee completely bc i really don't think i can (it's been one of my daily pleasures for SO long), but right now i only have 1-2 espresso shots and i don't even have it every day anymore

also remembering that i used to have 4-6 shots per drink, sometimes multiple times a day, makes me want to throw up now which is probably a good sign ajkdhdsh

There's something really funny about Minos popping out of the flesh prison and talking about wanting to gore Gabriel and then Sisyphus pops out and doesn't even mention Gabriel in specific, just mentions Heaven as a whole. He doesn't even think about him. Gabriel occupies 0 of Sisyphus's thoughts despite Gabriel having killed him which to me is hilarious. Personal headcanon about the "you picked the wrong dellamorte" line, I don't think illario actually likes rook outside the context of them being someone close to lucanis. Like rook on their own isn't much to him, but when they meet it's yet another person talking about his cousin (why isn't he good enough for whatever job they're hiring for?) and on top of that they somehow bring him back from the dead (another whole can of worms for illario). Now he starts turning on the charm, but whether he's actually interested or this is just one more thing his cousin has that he doesn't and it gets under his skin, who knows. Either way, rook ignores illario, the guy who lives off his charm, and is instead interested in the guy who's never even dated before and thinks giving someone a knife is how to flirt. Infuriating

NO THANK YOU !! i am genuinely sorry if i have ever implied illario is into rook like i see some takes about it and unless it like ties into your rook's personal backstory i don't seriously think he's romantically jealous. at all. my enjoyment of that line stems from illario's pathological need to make it about himself and not see his strengths but what lucanis has, and therefore what he doesn't. he's annoyed enough to try and goad you in the middle of a fight about the 'wrong' dellamorte and completely blind to the fact that the venatori are at best, a stupid fucking alliance, and at worst, a cult that will devour the crows from the inside out and illario would have been the one to give them the keys. he sees lucanis make allies, needs his own, and instead of charming the other talons/houses as he should, he (probably spitefully) picks the venatori. or maybe he just thought it would be easier. ugh he makes me want to telekenetically throw him around

Caitlyn's slow but inevitable decline into facism was painful to watch but it's Vi's tacit support of that that REALLY hurts me.

Cait was raised at the top of the hierarchy and it only took her being the one 'in danger' to flip from sympathetic to the undercity to desperately angry and wanting to return to the status quo where she and piltover are in power/control/oppress the weak 'for their own good.' I expected this to happen from the moment her rhetoric began to shift (us vs them, calling Zaunites animals, general dehumanisation.)

Vi knows that the issue is structural and the structure that's used to exercise violence against the oppressed is the enforcers, yet she still joined them anyway. It's excellent writing but the implications that has for her as a character who has been shown to have strong convictions and morals is so heartbreaking. It feels like her years in prison have eroded at the heroic spark in her to the point where she'll justify anything to return to the past. I keep asking myself how Vi could justify using The Grey as a weapon against the undercity, and her parotting what is probably Caitlyn's justification - that they used it to clear the streets and keep as many safe as possible - just rings so hollow. She felt like a lost soul just vaguely drifting through life in Act 1, and of course she did. She has no one left BUT Caitlyn. She has no place in the Undercity because it grew away from her. Her base of motivation as a kid was to fight for and protect the Lanes and now that the Lanes are gone who even is Violet anymore? If only she could rewind time and restore the uncomfortable uneven past.

Vi and Cait are actually the same person, the only difference is that Caitlyn has the power to enact her vision and Vi doesn't. I'm so sore.

i always hate when people say thag the uchihas are more sensitive because theyre predisposed to mental illness as if theyre dramatic or respond disjointedly from their circumstances. im inclined to say theyre some of the only characters who behave believably in accordance with their trauma. like sasuke was literally psychologically tortured when he was 13. do we think thats gonna turn someone into a football loving go getter? they use characters whose trauma barely gets shown as a standard when its not that the uchiha are dramatic but that naruto just doesnt get much focus on the trauma that he should undeniably have.

I keep thinking that Bloodbath would be so different if Lucanis had remembered to look UP. In The Wigmaker Job, after Lucanis successfully kills a bunch of bad guys from his hiding places atop statues, on shadowy rooftops, on the fucking ceiling like an errant moth, Illario jokes that if the Venatori ever learn to look up, Lucanis will be in trouble.

Illario should not have been able to get the literal drop on Lucanis.

I mean, he does have a blindspot when it comes to Illario, and that it's literal in this moment with Zara is pure DA humor. The game thinks it's very funny for Lucanis to constantly break all of his own rules: no talking during combat? Pfft. Try and stop him from snarking and/or cheerleading during a fight.

Lucanis and Spite struggle, argue, when they should be killing Zara. It's Lucanis' attempt to control Spite, to get some answers for his trauma, that gives Illario the opening he needs to drop down and kill Zara himself.

It's such an important moment, why wouldn't he check his corners? Why wouldn't he look up?

A year earlier. Hell, a month earlier, Lucanis probably wouldn't have hesitated. That someone sold him out would matter less than making Zara pay.

Right out of the Ossuary, this man would not forget to look up.

I reckon if Bloodbath happens right out of the Ossuary: --Lucanis and Spite kill Zara without hesitation. (Illario doesn't intervene? but if he does, Lucanis clocks him, maybe literally.) --Lucanis never learns who betrayed him. --Illario kills Caterina, she's too much of a liability. --Lucanis never reunites with his grandmother. --Illario uses Elgar'nan's trinket to control Lucanis and Spite. --Illario takes over the Crows (eventually, a blood-magic-tortured Spite turns Lucanis into a full abomination, and carnage ensues.)

Caterina's loss galvanizes Lucanis, but fulfilling her contract with Rook changes him. He's hurt, damaged, possibly irrevocably, by what happened at the Ossuary. Rook and Co. show him that he can't ignore the very human need to know why someone hurt him, and move past it. The WHY matters a great deal to everyone in the Lighthouse...because HE matters a great deal to them.

Spite doesn't give a shit about any of that. Spite wants what they AGREED on: to kill the Venatori witch. KILL HER. She's right-fucking-there. We have SO MANY KNIVES. She's got nothing but her birthday suit covered in coagulated blood. Fucking. Kill. Her.

So, in their hard-fought moment of vengeance, when Lucanis stands there not killing Zara, holding out for answers instead of being an assassin and fulfilling their pact, Spite goes goblin-mode in a nuclear way.

Spite embodies the person Lucanis was. Of course that guy is at odds with the person Lucanis is becoming. Change is hard. To quote Andrea Gibson,"it hurts to become." Boy howdy, does it ever.

Lucanis says it's throwing off his game. As a professional, he should be able to work, he's shouldn't have missed Ghilan'nain, yadda, yadda. But like, the game has changed. A professional assassin who accepts that his life has changed...that is a whole new kind of Lucanis. Worse...what if that's good?

Of course he doesn't look up.

Some part of him has already decided that he's not that guy anymore.

Hey is there any way to do a sympathetic or even good-aligned Orange Lantern? We’ve had sympathetic/good red lanterns, yellow lanterns, star sapphires…I feel like orange is next, but how can avarice/greed be good? Maybe a character with a god complex is so bad it wraps back around from being a flaw to a virtue—like, maybe they’re so greedy that they think of the entire universe as being part of their possession, so anything that threatens the universe is something they would fight against. Like the same kind of vibe as a dragon that thinks of an entire village as their hoard, so they protect the village. Or maybe their greed manifests itself as greed for knowledge or greed for worship or greed for friends/allies (as, perhaps, types of “power”), so even if they’re not like fully heroic necessarily, they can still be complex and complicated and can play off of the other Lantern Corps in interesting ways.

will never understand why so many sokeefe shippers uphold sokeefe as peak friends to lovers and cite their friendship as why they're such a good couple and such and then turn around and swoon over the fact that keefe has had a crush on sophie since the day they met, or somewhere close to it. does this not ruin the friends to lovers aspect for you . . . ? like you can't combine friends to lovers with love at first sight those two are intrinsically opposed tropes . . . ? keefe doesn't like sophie (romantically) because of their friendship, he just likes her because she's the ~mysterious new girl~ . . . ?
