#OnThisDay [May 17] in 1954, the U.S Supreme Court ruled in Brown v. Board of Education that school segregation was declared unconstitutional. However, after southern states moved slow to enforce, the federal government enacted legislation requiring school busing to achieve diversity. This was not a popular measure and protests were held around the country. #APeoplesJourney #ANationsStory
