i think people tend to conflate character morality/character writing flaws/character likeabilty/creator’s status and while those things can influence each other its not like those are the same thing

i definitely feel like after his revival he became a little bit less interesting, i think ghostbur was kind of unnecessary and i also think his ending was incredibly underwhelming, but the recontextualisation of his character and relationship with quackity with tntduo was an absolutely insane move

honestly i kinda also feel like cc!wilbur being a dick irl makes me kind of reexamine c!wilbur’s character and overall arc in a whole new light, like both within his character flaws and writing flaws — i wouldnt call it wasted potential because i genuinely dont think this could have gone any other way

so...i just watched wicked! here's my review, with the goods and the bads. these are more or less in order. major spoilers for wicked below!!

disclaimer: i watched and am talking about this movie as a person who has not watched the plays or any content related to wicked before, and just knows the story of the wizard of oz. i didn't even know the wicked witch of the west's name was elphaba before this movie came out (it's never generally mentioned okay 😭) so that is how clueless i am. however, im kinda glad about that, because otherwise much of the plot might have been somewhat anticlimatic.

at first, i expected nessarose to be that one person in elphaba's childhood, i was actually really surprised when she wasn't. still, an interesting character who needs more recognition!

the fact that the movie was directed by an asian director has me so happy, because i also saw a lot of representation in the background cast! different skin colors, body types, hair colors (GINGER REPRESENTATION LMFAO), we got them all! and i was SUPER happy about that!

I wanted to know if the Earis has completely accepted the fact that they are going to be the next ruler of Serulla or if they still want to go off and travel like they originally planned? I personally feel like they still aren’t completely content with the idea of it or maybe they’ve brainwashed themself into thinking thats what they want along with the help of their mother (who i still don’t fully trust) and the nobles.

in evo canon, watchers are meant to represent us, the audience. When grian left evo to join the watchers, it was supposed to be that since he was no longer going to be a creator in the series, he would become an audience member, or at least thats how i took it. im gonna be honest i stopped watching evo after grian left but ive heard that the watchers just, like, completely destroyed evo after grian left. im sure that can in some way be again linked back to the audience members?? probably?

now, what the fandom has gone and done is turn the watchers into these super extra evil bad dudes that only inflict pain and suffering. but im pretty sure while the watchers did punish bad behavior, they also rewarded good? but theres many popular headcanons that a lot of ppl accept as canon that the watchers only ever did bad.

i think he's trying to be conscious of everything that comes along with tiktok--safety concerns, privacy concerns, as well as the erasure of the creator and the platforming of The Algorithm.

he doesn't deny there's good content there, he even says in the video if his fyp gave him this content continually, he would use it. but he's all too aware of the advertising and prevalence of the algorithm. and, he's concerned about the amount of time people (cough, phil, cough) put into it.

i think they're valid concerns. i think having good-faith criticism about the things you choose to spend your time on are important. not that having guilt all the time is good, but something doesn't have to be 'perfect' in order for you to interact with it. (see youtube, twitter, and even here with tumblr)

i'll be honest, i'm a gen z who doesn't use tiktok. there's good tiktoks out there, but i prefer a different type of slop (everything is slop don't lie to yourself).

like if it really bothers you that much i suggest you sit with that discomfort and figure out why.

a lot of people older than gen z shit on tiktok because they think it's turning the frogs gay--it's just a title of something they can blame their hatred of everything different from them on, and their disgust for the youth who dare to not live by their morals. it's not about tiktok itself. whereas dan is seeing the flaws and faults of the app and the culture. you don't have to agree with him, but his opinion on it shouldn't ruin your day. he's just a guy.

Here are some things you need to realize:

The main purpose of my art isn't to be educational about healthy relationships and it's not focused on portraying "the right thing" all the time.

I assume enough emotional intelligence in my audience to recognise that the ships that I in fact label as problematic already - are flawed and are not healthy to happen in real life.

I want to explore nuanced or taboo things in my art but I'm also a sucker for lovey-dovey feel-good stories and it's not your business to convince me to draw ships more how you want them just so kids on tumblr can have a good example of what abuse looks like.

I am not encouraging anyone to pursue relationships like these! Real life is much more complex than what a scribble on tumblr can reflect on anyway. The content I make of these ships is purely fictional and isn't safe to enact in the real world.

I don't appreciate you trying to bring my relatives into this argument, you're being insensitive bringing them up at all. Of course I don't want anyone, not just my family, to stay in an unhealthy relationship. I think most sane people on earth would be against that, no? Do you just assume I'm okay with horrible things happening to people around me because I like to draw unhealthy and toxic ships?

I didn't "adapt" proship beliefs recently. Not harassing people for their fictional ships and stories has always been very easy for me, even if their content makes me uncomfortable. I prefer to block things I don't want to see over acting entitled about what someone draws or writes.

I already state on my page that my blog has sensitive and mature topics and viewer discretion is advised. I could always draw the "worse" aspects of the relationship or more "abusive" side of the ship so you won't have to reach far below the surface to find the problematic side of it, but I get the feeling you don't want me to do that - you just want me to stop drawing a pairing you find icky. I can add an additional disclaimer in my profile if this all wasn't enough for you but I won't stop drawing them holding hands and blushing until I get bored of it.

i have mixed feelings. on 0309. because i think it can be really interesting and cute when done right and when you consider their characters and how they'd interact.

but also, being a popular m/m ship, there is a lot of mischaracterized content out there where people attempt to simply put them into a generic yaoi template. mikoto in particular suffers from this and when paired with fuuta tends to be very... made into some sort of softboy to pair with fuuta's more hotheaded nature. so this makes me kind of side eye it like are you being normal. are we being normal about 0309. or have we forgotten who they are!!! people also often dont play with the fact that they like canonically do not get along at first and i'm like but thats the fun part. guys who dont like each other slowly realizing that oh, oh no, actually everything i thought was annoying about you before has become kind of endearing

i do think they could be a good couple though i don't think they'd get along at first but i really do think they could learn to like each other and work well together... theyd be good at balancing each other out since one of mikoto's biggest flaws is just how willing to sacrifice himself to be liked and successful and normal he is and fuuta doesn't seem to care much about society at large or what it thinks of him. something where fuuta can teach mikoto its ok to prioritize yourself sometimes and mikoto can help fuuta see the value in caring about his life and finding something to do with it a little more. also i love how easily fuuta brings out mikoto teasing him its silly. theyre silly. mikoto deserves to get to relax and banter with someone a little.

tl;dr i enjoy it when its done well some people do it in ways that make me want to eat a brick though god bless them

ok ive finished :) and i do have thoughts. area unknown has been really special. its a rare bird in terms of minecraft content and theres just so many important stories being told there. the way it relates to the wider sunship canon or whatever its called is amazing, and the otehr ppls content like oli's dedicated grinding, moonzy's beautiful buildings or graaavel's awesome lore (HIS LORE VIDEO WAS SO GOOD. IT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD. THE MUSIC????? YEA), was all so amazing to witness.

BUT i do have some criticisms if you dont mind me sharing. none of it is with ill intent and i understand why the decisions that were made happened but i still think its worth pointing out.

im disappointed with how aimsey and scott's arc was left off, because i dont think it reached a satisfying conclusion at all and the loose threads they left didn't feel like a culmination of their relationship. aimsey and scott's conversations are some of my favourite parts of the lore because their relationship is so, SO interesting and really worth exploring. so ending it by saying "scott just got bored and went back to hell" was not a good move i feel. i really wanted to see something more there.

guqqie does touch on hera's influence when she discovers the grave but to be honest i dont understand why she was allowed to get married to aimsey and have a happy ending. hera has made a point of dooming them in every single universe and she just loves torturing her little experiment, and her influence has continued into season two with egging aimsey and oli on with the lab, so i really don't understand why guqqie was able to seperate herself from this and later get married when that has never been allowed before

i guess that everything was intentionally left pretty open ended so things could change in future, guqqie did say she'd write something up later this week which could give answers to what i mentioned above. and who knows, maybe in the years guqqie and aimsey were split hera could have been defeated in some way. maybe guqqie went back and confronted her or something idk. i would really like to see something like that though. and of course that open-endedness leaves room for aimsey and scott to do something which would also be great. but yeah those are my less great thoughts about the finale. but do not be fooled just because it wasnt absolutely perfect didnt mean i didnt enjoy it/think it was bad

FORTUNATELY it has given me a great window to start working on that au because i really want to develop scott and aimseys arc, explore aimsey's feelings as a demon and the horror that comes with that, and his relationship to hera because the one time they interacted always gives me chills. so i think the finale was flawed but thats ok because now i can go in and do awesome stuff with my own ideas for a bad ending. because i like hera cannot let the characters rest. ineed to be stopped hehehe

but yeah apart from that i did really enjoy the finale. it did feel like area unknown. the party, never have i ever, michela being hilarious and caitees being weird, and of course heartbreaking sunship lore. it genuinely gave me the same warm feeling as when i was watching through all those vods from 2022 when they were just messing around or screaming at each other in the rain. area unknown needed to end. no one seemed to want or have the time/inspiration/motivation to do stuff on it anymore, and the characters needed a conclusion and to be let go so they could just be in their own right. i'm glad that its done. it was really special. i cant wait to see what everyone does next :3

i agree heavily on the scott and aimsey topic, i wish we could’ve gotten more development of their relationship or seen scott in s2 bc there was a psrt of his house i think somewhere and then he was never mentioned again iirc, but they were probably both too busy or something to do anything which is ok i’ll just make it up in my head :3

and i hope there is a bit more of something w hera and auguqqies whole thing and how hera allowed ausunship to get married, or how all that went. i’m just really curious

it is very hard for me to be nice about this. it really is. I have extensive trauma with Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists, to the point where I have lost almost all pride in my identity as a transfem and to the point where I had to choose between my physical safety and the well-being of my family over my identity. my ma is a trans woman that does advocacy for inmates, particularly lgbt inmates, and shes received death theats from TERF groups on the basis of her being a trans woman. Ive gone back in the closet and pretend to be a genderconforming cis man just to keep selling my art without getting threats from TERFS. they’re very present in our lives. Ive changed the entire way I live in order to survive their presence. 

And when I see posts like this. I know they dont come from a place of understanding this present trauma. These people dont know what its like to have their name and face dragged through the mud on pamphlets and fliers and “feminist” gatherings. they see TERFs as an abstract enemy and not a real one. they see TERFs as a general bad guy to be applied everywhere. and not a specific type of transphobia applied by a specific type of person. they see TERFs as traumatic but they dont see who is traumatized by them. 

a TERF is a Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist. nothing more and nothing less. Trans Exclusionary: they want to exclude trans people, predominantly trans women, from society. they want trans people to cease existing, or if they should insist to exist, that they be content with the bottom of a social ladder. Radical Feminism: liberation of women from the patriarchy in a method that focuses solely on sexism, without regard to other forms of discrimination, creating a new social ladder with cishet white women on top. 

so tell me, where does being against endogenic systems fit into this? what is trans exclusionary about being anti-endo? what is radically feminist about being anti-endo? 

and dont fucking tell me its “rhetoric.” everyone fucking says the rhetoric is the same, but no one explains in a way that matters. “just change trans with endo!” except, when you change the words in an argument, its meaning changes. is it TERF rhetoric for me to say watermelon is the worst fruit, because if we replace watermelon with trans women and fruit with type of human being, it is exactly what a TERF would say? 

honestly. you people only say ideologies you dont agree with are TERF rhetoric because its an emotional appeal, because youre out of strong arguments. everyone agrees TERFs are bad, and so if you can paint the person youre arguing with as a TERF, then you automatically win to people who dont take more than two seconds to think about things. and in this age of low attention spans, thats everyone that fucking sees this! 

listen. I do believe in endogenic systems. despite the url, despite other mods opinions, I believe endogenic systems exist. Ive seen arguments for their existence that make sense. Ive seen arguments against anti-endos that make sense. saying anti-endos are using TERF rhetoric actively degrades those arguments, because flawed logic in one aspect makes the collection of arguments as a whole look flawed. how can I argue for the existence of endogenic systems when the common defense of them is “anti-endos use TERF rhetoric!” my side looks a fool! 

this is why transfems leave system spaces en masse as well. its all “TERFs are bad! TERF rhetoric is everywhere!” but never “how can we help transfems? How can we make transfems feel safe?” 

For YEARS I spoke about being unsafe physically due to TERFs, and I received no help. my family received no help. I have given up being out and proud because of TERFs, and in this depressing fact, instead of getting help from the LGBT community, I am isolated! we are isolated! and yet, and yet, you all simply cry out hatred for TERFs and never love for transfems! 

what good is hating TERFs if you leave transfems for dead? what good is calling out TERF rhetoric if countless transfems have to be closeted to survive? what good it to paint the enemy as TERFs, if you cant even support your own transfems?
