i have so many thoughts about scorpys chronicals of benry. there is something there that i am constantly trying and failing to capture in my art. something something absurdism and horror are next to eachother in the animal kingdom of media genres. i cannot put into human words what those 14 minutes make me feel.

Ive seen every tmnt show. Here are my awards (because i like making lists but ranking them was too hard with such a variety of tones)

Best turtles personalities/ brotherhood dynamic:

Rise (im sorry, but Leo getting to be the fun, laid-back guy was such a shift i actually felt sorry for the other Leo’s for having to be so serious. And Mikey getting to be a sweet innocent lamb instead of just a lovable idiot made him so precious to me)

Best April:

-Rise (she’s so weird and so fun and i love her)

Best Casey Jones:

-2012 (chaos loving little freak lol)

Best Splinter:

-2012 (i liked his full story and that he got to have some humor too. Plus that ep with all the baby turtles was cute)

Best use of Shredder:

-2003 (a solid villain. I prefer the backstory and motivation of ‘12 tbh, but overall i think he was best utilized in ‘03)

Best animation:

-Rise (i love, love, love that they’re all different types of turtles. Donnie covering his soft shell with his tech??? Genius)

Best overall plot structure:

-2003 (good pace, plus Usagi was fantastic)

Best theme:

-1987 (its iconic for a reason.)

Best sarcasm/ ha ha’s:

-1987 (that is the humor of the show. They perfected it haha and i need season 3 ROTTMNT so Raphael can really come into his sarcastic roots, thank you)

TMNT wasn’t a part of my childhood because it would’ve been the serious ‘03 one and i liked the haha’s. But im glad i watched it now. ROTTMNT is probably my turtles (they are all so precious) but the new Mutant Mayhem was a delight. I really hope we can get more of both.

KLYDE!!! I'll be honest when I first got this ask I got intimidated because the design is already very good but designing Klyde to my style, I decided to emphasis her cowboy fashion because I loved the hat.

hello everyone! a quick break from your scheduled art posting to talk about this incredible fic i think ever bloodweave enjoyer should read.

i know it'a already very popular, but imo it's a must-read. i could not praise this fic enough for what it is, the amazing ideas it brings to the table, the incredible execution of the timeloop trope. it's by far the fic i look forward to seeing in my inbox the most (not that other fics aren't absolutely gorgeous), because every chapter is just. a delight to read. it's got angst, fluff, and an amazing romance, but the plot is what really makes it stand out. it's tight, packed with great characterisation and has perfect pacing. please give it a shot if that sounds at all interesting to you. oh yeah, and did i mention that it's got art for every single chapter? yeah, read it. bask in its genius.

saw a post w an excerpt of tgcf where the scene of the townspeople forcibly gagging xl in order to keep him quiet while they stabbed him is compared to hc being like 'if it hurts it's okay to say so!' while removing like...a needle or smt? from xl's foot and while I see the appeal of the contrast etc. I just grimaced a little at how clumsy and unsubtle that was compared to other themes in tgcf 😭 like okay hc just go out and just say it. let's not worry about inplications or parallels, complex and nuanced writing is reserved for side characters and the main character's internal journey ONLY

i'm pretty sure smrpg is the first game that i avidly played as a kid to get a remake (as opposed to a remaster or re-release) so it's probably just nostalgia goggles but wow. i only have maybe an hour and a half playtime on the remake but it's retained so much of the original's verve and quirkiness and warmth. everything's just pulled into sharper focus. god. chicken soup for the soul or something.

i feel like this would be a stickling point for me anywhere else, with any other remake. i'd be mad that they didn't try to change anything but uuuaaagh idk ive been had! ive been taken in by the remake fervor!

but they did change smth yk? one thing that maybe needed to be modified, redone, tooled up. they changed up the battle system a smidge. and im really loving the battle changes. or at least the concept of them since im not too far. i like being able to sweep multiple enemies faster, it really helps the game flow.

in short i had a lot of fun.
