i'm pretty sure smrpg is the first game that i avidly played as a kid to get a remake (as opposed to a remaster or re-release) so it's probably just nostalgia goggles but wow. i only have maybe an hour and a half playtime on the remake but it's retained so much of the original's verve and quirkiness and warmth. everything's just pulled into sharper focus. god. chicken soup for the soul or something.

i feel like this would be a stickling point for me anywhere else, with any other remake. i'd be mad that they didn't try to change anything but uuuaaagh idk ive been had! ive been taken in by the remake fervor!

but they did change smth yk? one thing that maybe needed to be modified, redone, tooled up. they changed up the battle system a smidge. and im really loving the battle changes. or at least the concept of them since im not too far. i like being able to sweep multiple enemies faster, it really helps the game flow.

in short i had a lot of fun.
