omg my wedding was literally a year ago today 😭😭😭 i mean we've actually been legally married for 3 cus of covid restrictions n stuff (couldn’t do the whole wedding + ceremony thang that we wanted to w/friends n fam at the time), so we just did it through the courthouse cus ya girl needed medical/dental insurance STAT LMFAO but it gave us plenty of time to plan the whole shindig and save up cus holy shit it was quite literally SO EXPENSIVE so anyway it all worked out in the end hehe but anyways look at these pictures!!! :') and look how hot we look omg ugh

Rejection #7 (This was the version before the last edit, so... fair.)

My biggest issue is that I still don't understand why a story needs to be twice as long to say half as much, particularly when I see so many complaints about plots dragging on.

Like I'm not asking for more of Mice and Men (30,000 words, I'm 7,000 over it). I'm 14,000 words away from the Great Gatsby, y'know? (I get it's a genre difference but still, in genre there's been Thornhedge and What Moves the Dead)

And people read the shit out of those.

But I also understand that my manuscript size makes me hard to market (with no promise of a strong profit margin). I am also aware, however, that there is a market for it.

...Idunno. It's one of those, "I know the rules but since I think it's stupid I've elected to ignore it" things.

Which will, of course, make attempts at publication more difficult than it would be otherwise. But putting useless filler in a tight narrative for the sake of a word count cannot be the answer.

Still, it is cool that if I somehow double the length of the story she'd be willing to give it another go.

seeing ppl in the tags super used to the j/apperwock(y) in b/urton's alice and then getting mad at how 'ugly' the s/yfy version is is absolutely hilarious to me bc the s/yfy version is literally just lifted from the original illustrations
