valgrace except it’s a modern au and leo is part of a foreign exchange program, majoring in engineering. he travels with piper and will, one majoring in linguistics and the other in medicine, and the next destination for their summer trip is to rome, italy.

their days consist of touring around multiple establishments, attending lectures and most of the time, they eat out and visit popular spots, visiting less known spots—the kind the locals never talk about because it’s almost a secret between them.

but during a weekend a month into the program, saturday, leo was scheduled to visit a workshop and he overslept. piper and will had taken him out the night before, meeting the summer flings and possible beginnings of a relationship of the two—locals by the name of nico and reyna. it became a party soon after because friends of friends joined, sisters of nico and whatnot. needless to say, they partied hard and leo was now paying the price.

he rushed to get ready, throwing on whatever he could find while he brushed his teeth and packed his bag.

and on the way to the workshop after asking around for directions, he bumped into someone. it seemed like he wasn’t the only one who was running late because he felt the heat of the coffee stain his shirt and burn his skin. leo rambled out apologies as he pulled the scorching fabric away from his abdomen.

the other man was just as sorry, offering solutions to make it up to him and took off his button up shirt—a light blue color with cloud patterns that added a pop to his undershirt that was darker in shade.

and there was something about it. something that pulled the two together because before they parted to run off, they made a deal. new coffee in exchange for allowing him to wear and keep the shirt.

leo realized he never got his name once he took his lunch break, meeting piper and will at a little cafe. but he didn’t need to worry about that because it seemed that in rome, everyone knew just about everyone. and if the fates wrote it in stone, he’d see him again.
