thinking about the period of time between the mechanisms performing DTTM and their deaths actually occurring...

thinking about how the mechanisms know how they die but they might not know when they die or in what order.

thinking about them trying to prevent each other's deaths. none of them wants to be the last to go.

raphaella begs the others not to leave marius alone on the ship. tim refuses to leave ashes's side in the hopes he can stop the accident from happening. brian pilots them around pockets of temporal instability and away from backwater asteroids. marius pleads with ivy not to retire. nobody talks about how they die in front of the toy soldier. they don't want to make it sad.

jonny selfishly seeks out bar fights, hoping this time it will finally be the one, and he won't have to watch his friends disappear one by one until a milllenia has passed since the last time he laughed. even if the others mourn him, he doesn't want to still be alive when the rest of his crew are all gone.

none of them know for sure who dies first, but they all know who they don't want it to be, and they all hope it's themselves instead.

I know it might be a big request, but can you talk about heaven's hyerarchy in JTTW?? And explain some titles like boddisahtiva (sorry for any typos, english isn't my native language)

I'm a little busy at the moment, but I can give a brief overview as I see it.

The Jade Emperor (JE) is the boss of the universe, but he still has deities over him, such as the Three Pure Ones, of which Laozi (LZ) is an incarnation (of sorts). The novel even describes LZ as the "Patriarch who separated Heaven from Earth"--i.e. the creator of the universe. While technically subordinate to the JE, the Buddha and the Bodhisattvas are the true shepherds of the JTTW cosmos. (In traditional Buddhism, gods are still subject to the illusory world of Samsara, while the Buddha is beyond reality since they have achieved nirvana and broken free from the endless rounds of rebirth. In addition, the JTTW universe is patterned after the Buddhist disc-world system, and the Daoist heavens take the place of the Buddhist heavens in the traditional cosmology.) Despite this, Buddhist deities still act ritually differential to the gods. For example, the Patriarch of Earthbound Immortals (ch. 24-26) is so high-ranking that Guanyin mentions that even she has to be respectful towards him.

The gods of heaven are considered superior to those of the earth. Local gods of the soil and mountains, as well hell judges and their spirit-soldiers, are looked upon as "ghost immortals," the lowest rank. Celestials above are "spirit immortals," the highest rank. "Human" and "Earthbound Immortals" in the middle ranks can become heavenly beings if they are given an official post. But heavenly beings can be demoted to lower ranks for messing up. For example, one of Laozi's fire-tenders in the 33rd Heaven is demoted to a local god of the soil below for failing to help capture Monkey when he escaped from the Eight Trigrams Furnace in chapter 7. And a different local god of the soil in another chapter worries that two mountain gods will be beaten and further demoted to small, out of way shrines for unknowingly dropping their mountains on the Great Sage.

Yooo, I haven’t done a double fix in one day for some time .

It’s been a week since someone commented on your body figure and the scars among your arms , you were lucky to survive the abundance war .

You weren’t a local , but you still enlisted because you wanted to help , what idiotic actions ….

When you came back from your expedition, you were in one piece , but you felt like you were in two because your soul and your body were not coordinated.

At times you seemed lost and others too alert, whipping your head around at the slightest sound or movements.

It was a wonder that you got over the worst of your trauma and continued, but you never expected a male , never less a handsome one, to love you now .

However , it took a lot of coaxing from him to feel confident and comfortable in your own skin with all the scars along your body .

So when a child and women commented on them , your self esteem plummeted and you hid yourself in your house from the remainder of the week , texting Argenti to come over before you start hyperventilating.

You stayed bundled up in the duvets covers before you poked your head out because you heard the door creak open .

You slipped out the covers before timidly opening the bedroom door and peeking out, when you did you were met with the knights fist about to knock on the door .

You stared at Argenti’s hand before looking up to see his face , his eyes soften when he sees your eyes water , opening the door wider and then closing the door when he’s inside the bedroom.

Soon , you’re in bed with him cradling your figure as if your porcelain. His armor is off and neatly placed on a stand you got for him . His lacy white shirt and brown trousers felt soft against your skin .

He whispers sweet nothings to you , reassuring you that your perfect and the scars you have are proof of how strong you are .

He knows what happened , and how people seem to judge you for it , he also knows how sensitive you are to noises and stares thanks to your training .

He continues to soothe your nerves and you continue to ramble on and on how insecure you are and how utterly pathetic you look .

He just reassures you how lovely you are and kisses the so called imperfections. To him , they’re nothing less then beautiful marks .

Soon your eyes begin to tire , and you start to go limp , he smiles and then kisses your forehead leading you to a dreamless sleep where nothing can touch you .

Except Argenti .

He’ll keep you safe and warm and he’ll always be by your side and love you until time forbids him . He won’t ever leave you .

He stares at your sleeping figure and then pulls the covers over both of you , luring you into an even deeper sleep .

He looks at you for a little longer before supping your cheek and putting his forehead against yours , mumbling.

“ My dear rose…. Oh how I love you”

lol @ series 1 jack being like "i demand your complete trust" *tells his team nothing, pretends to be a hero and doesn't allow them to see his vulnerability so then they hate him when he makes painful/unpleasant decisions, orders someone to do something and then gets angry when they do it, drops hints like mad about how he's different from 21st century humans but doesn't actually reveal anything making them question everything about him in secret, poorly manages his team's various individual breakdowns, kills or otherwise causes the death of at least one of every team member's lovers, goads and personally insults them all when they're all terrified and upset and then is surprised when they mutiny and kill him*

On the assumption that any lost body parts of the mechs still exist after removal and don't, like, disintegrate or something:

Note: since the fictions talk about all brains being rounded up and put to work no matter how small or unusable, this poll does not require that the mechs had to have their brains harvested as a whole for a brain to be counted (aka brains collected by a death from head explosion, for example, still count).

The Toy Soldier and Drumbot Brian are not included for obvious reasons, but the idea of ferrymen looking really hard to try and find their brains after they "die" and being confused is very funny to me.
