once again the Armand/Daniel dynamic lives rent free in my head like
why are his martinis better than Rashid’s?
why did RJ say that he shouldn’t fear Armand but the other one?
why does Armand keep explaining himself directly to Daniel and not Louis?
why can Daniel suddenly see right through his bullshit, like he’s used to it, like he’s slipping back into an old coat?
why is Armand over-policing Daniel now that he’s remembered SF? unless there are more things he doesn’t want him to remember?
why did he make that face at Daniel when he said “I was a coward”?
why does he keep calling him “Mr Molloy”?

In a show where they're very careful about only showing us what exists in a character's perspective... and where earlier in the episode Daniel specifically points out that Armand is powerful and could read any mind he wants...
Why do we hear the telepathic communication between Santiago and Sam before he flies out? We as the audience would only be able to hear that if Armand could too. And Armand is capable of it, as Daniel pointed out. And "I was in love" as a blanket excuse for why he wasn't paying attention to thoughts? Yeah, no, I'm not believing a word of his. Armand was aware of all of this and is again not telling the full truth

The parallels between Armand telling Daniel how horrible his life will be to lure him into a peaceful death in ep 5 just for Daniel to resist him and keep wanting to live and Armand telling Madeleine of all the horrible things she might endure in a life as a vampire in ep 6 just for her to stand her ground and keep wanting to live that life. mmhh...

It's the way Louis ordered Armand to make sure he, Madeleine, and Claudia weren't bothered in 2x06 that gets me. He had been cradling Armand’s face to reassure him that it was okay for Armand to not come watch Madeleine getting turned, and then he slipped from that to grasping Armand's face while he gave him a command.
Tumblr media
I've mentioned this before, but face grabbing is a VERY common kink among those of us who gravitate towards dominance and submission. Mainly used as a method of discipline and control. So Louis grabbing Armand by the face while he gives him an order is so natural to me. And likely kinky people in general.
He also held Armand by the face after they kissed. Which works as well because it can be used as a source of comfort too. Just a reminder of who Armand belongs to. And I can't emphasize enough how meaningful it is for a sub to feel owned.
Tumblr media
And ugh the way Armand's eyes were closed while Louis did that is killing me. His face turned down, Louis' turned up to look down at Armand. Armand might be taller than him, but Louis overcomes that. He just looks SO fucking dominant in this moment, and Armand looks SO fucking submissive. And how it takes a few seconds before Armand is able to look up again after Louis lets him go also kills me.

Perfect scene. A+++

Armand: look at me Louis, look at my big, sad eyes. You wouldn’t want to make me feel bad about all the crimes I did, would you?
Daniel: hey remember how you were gonna KILL ME
Armand: 🥺

madeleine and claudia got it right. in a show, and broadly universe, where we’re kind of conditioned to see everyone as not necessarily a villain but still doing every wrong thing imaginable their relationship is genuinely something right. THEY ARE the “spark in the dark.” yes they’re not both morally virtuous beings we know this but their relationship exists as a kind of hope that vampirism and companionship doesn’t have to mean the toxicity betrayal and deceit of relationships like loustat or loumand (or lesmand). which is SO funny too when u think about how many years those three have on claudeleine and yet, it seems like claudia and madeleine have a far better understanding of how to express and share their love through this paradigm of vampirism than any of the men in this series.
THEY GOT IT RIGHT.

Would the part of me that finds Jacob and Assad attractive have liked to see them fuck nasty on my screen? Well, Yes!
But another part of me finds it interesting that we always find Loumand either before or immediately after they have sex.
As though even when Armand pretends to be above his past and when they’re fighting, Louis and Armand cannot help but WANT to protect each other.
Them not giving us explicit details feels like, to me at least, they are keeping the one part of Armand that has always been forcibly TAKEN, between him and the person he CHOSE to share with.
And, I think, it speaks to the complicated feelings they have in regards to each other. Where there is resentment, anger, blame and guilt but there’s also love, affection, familiarity and a want to shield the other person… Whether they actually achieve the shielding or not is another conversation however there are many conflicting emotions in Louis and Armand‘s relationship and yet keeping sex very private, even from us, to me kills the “Louis never cared about Armand’s trauma” conversation because Louis would have no reason to editorialize their sex life, especially knowing how petty he is and now that he feels betrayed but he still does and what reason other than he knows how Armand feels about sex to a degree, makes sense AND aligns with the compassion we see Louis still carries AND the private nature of Armand?
Whatever, group suicide in 10 minutes Loumanders 🚬😔

the way Daniel shakes his head every time Armand speaks lmao his lying detector is pinging like crazy we can see the physical effort it takes him not to immediately call bullshit
the only time he doesn’t is when Armand says “I was a coward” for some reason that read as the truth to him
also Armand calling him “Mr Molloy” exclusively I see you buddy he’s so salty lmao

“average LGBT member has forgiven the vampire Armand” factoid is actually a statistical error. The gay vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac, who has forgiven Armand 10000 times, is a statistical outlier adn should not have been counted

You know what. I think this comment is neither about Armand nor Louis being more or less dangerous to Daniel but about Marius de Romanus. This is about someone capable (in terms of power and motivation) of tampering with Daniel's memories the same way Daniel had just learnt Armand did, only much more powerful.
Using such a blatant omission and ambiguity to refer to a character that has already showed up makes no sense narratively speaking. Besides, Louis is not a danger to Daniel, not anymore after 2x05. It needs to be someone that hasn't appeared yet. Someone so close to Armand that we don't need to hear his own name in order to understand who he is. And who is closer to Armand than Marius? Armand carries Marius' name in his own
Tumblr media
Past Devil's Minion only makes sense if we are willing to throw Marius de Romanus into the mix as the one that edited Daniel's memories for the second time and assume that Raglan James knows about it somehow . That's why he would say Marius is the one that Daniel should fear now, instead of Armand. If the Talamasca owns these documents, it makes sense for Raglan James to refer to Marius as "the other one" wrt Armand: he is used to reading their names side by side.
The question now is, how does Raglan James know this much about DM? Well, the Talamasca is a resourceful group of sectret agents but the thing is, this theory is not incompatible with the theory that RJ is actually Marius de Romanus. And Marius is tacky enough to refer to himself in third person I'm just saying

Personally, I appreciate that they had Louis grasp Armand by the face. For those of you who don't know, face grabbing is a common kink among those of us who gravitate towards dominance and submission. So the show incorporating that into their relationship indicates a great awareness of BDSM, which I think is awesome. Very few shows that include BDSM bother at all with learning about it. Which is very frustrating for kinky people. So I appreciate this show.
