Sanji and Luffy's Relationship

!ALERT! SPOILERS!

Everywhere I go I always see Luffy and Zoro, Luffy and Zoro, Luffy and Zoro. I have no problem with that but we need more recognition for Luffy's bonds with other members of his crew.

(PAUSE) My top 4 favourite bonds of Luffy is:

Anyways, Today, I want to talk about Luffy's relationship with Sanji. Though it is cook and captain, its something more...(THIS IS NOT A SHIP!) What I really like about these two characters, is how their emotions are portrayed on screen, through facial expressions and just the voice actors themselves. This could be seen where Luffy called out to Sanji, yelling: WITHOUT YOU...WITHOUT YOU..I'LL NEVER BE KING OF THE PIRATES!!

The way the "you" is emphasised by Luffy, shows the amount of emotion the voice actor is putting in and the character himself. And I understand how some people call Luffy stupid, and yes, he is. But luffy can be smarter than everybody else; seeing things not even his crew can. On the case of episode 808, Luffy knew about Sanji's situation. That is why he didn't choose to fight back. (And if Luffy did fight him, Im sure Luffy wouldve won 👀). However, Nami didn't even notice herself until later!

I also like how it's confirmed that Sanji can be kinder than Luffy in some cases and I don't like how people disregard Sanji as a character. I mean, he was kind of a lost cause in Fishman Island, but when Whole Cake Island came along, was a hard slap to silence all the Sanji haters.

In conclusion, Sanji and Luffy's relationship is more than chef and captain. Its a brotherhood bond.

Next, I will look into Luffy and Usopp's relationship! So stay tuned! :)

EP6 ; Final Thoughts - This episode let us truly meet Michael & oh my god it’s almost painful to watch these back to back like- this is a lot to digest holy fuck. When Carmen talked about a temp in a room and how Mikey could feel it then lean into it and manipulate it however he wanted. He did such a good job portraying that. I’d give anything for him to have just called Carmy when he was on that bridge and for him to have answered and for Carmy to change his mind. Oh my god I’m so- like oh my god? This show. I can’t.

EP7 ; Final Thoughts - Another good episode!! Very balanced which I like, the character centered episodes feel very heavy but I still love them. I'm just happy that we got a little bit of a second to breathe!! I think it’s cool how they’re doing the beef on the side, like so cool! I never thought of that as an option. Because it’s true the neighborhood would probably miss their local sandwich spot! I liked this episode a lot :) Carmy can go fuck this episode, though he’s in the dog house and I hope Syd leaves to teach him a lesson! (& it makes him realize he loves her!!!)

arcane is a show that always, always gets facial expressions perfectly. in season one you can see that all of the enforcers and topsiders look down on the zaunites like they're bugs underneath them. treat them like it, too. you can see that this hatred runs deep.

caitlyn, though, has always looked at them like they're actual people. she's always looked them in the eye, looked at them with warmth and care as if she was never raised to think otherwise. she hugs them, thanks them, shows them the same kindness she would anyone despite her wealthy background.

in the "breakup" scene, cait kicks vi down like how you would expect an enforcer to. with no consideration, no remorse. when vi is on the ground caitlyn looks at the poor woman like she's a cockroach that snuck into the kitchen.

something fucking broke in cait after her mom died, and i think that's going to RUIN them for a long time. now that cait is under the control of ambessa she isn't going to be able to see her boo for a while. a long while. she'll just have to sit with the fact that she did the one thing she promised she wouldn't.

and i have something else to say about vi.

vi screamed and grunted way too loud for a hit like that. and we all know it, but i have to point it out, because vi takes metal fists to the face like they're pillows. she's so used to being battered and bruised it's like a game to her.

that jab to the gut hurt her so bad because it was really a stake to the heart.

she fell to the ground not because of physical force- this woman fell down a hundred feet with a deep stab wound and kept walking- it was because she couldn't physically handle how painful it was that cait would treat her like that. cait promised she wouldn't change in the very same episode and she fucking did. there's no coming back from that unless cait somehow manages to perform a fucking miracle and make it up to her.

i think cait being so brutal at the end only further solidifies the fact that prejudice and privilege stain the veins of piltover and zaun no matter how hard you try to remove it. even caitlyn, the sapphic golden girl who got to see exactly how hard zaun has it, has that venom in her bones. she couldn't get rid of it even when she literally kissed a zaunite and still ended up looking down on her like she was scum.

maybe they are oil and water, after all. but i baked brownies earlier tonight and the vegetable oil and water mixed together to make the wet ingredients of the batter, and those brownies tasted delicious. they need to learn how to work together despite their differences, their flaws, their impossibilities. even if it means being thrown into an oven together.

the venom in piltover runs deep. and it will probably take war to make it known. war being the oven in this metaphor if it wasn't clear.

okay, so im basically cooking up this au, that at the moment I'm calling Y.'s outerweb (<- yellows outerweb!!)

ultimately, the CG + Darklord are all joyus n happy until Yellow starts getting curious about the things outside of Alan's PC (<- yellow only knows about the outerweb, because of videos on uhh StickTube). Of course the others are curious but unlike Yellow, they don't want to leave.

one day, Yellow decides that he's going to leave Alan's PC to finally explore the outerweb, and decides to tell the others about his plan, because he thinks they'll be accepting of his decision. Spoiler alert, they aren't! Infact their actually kind of angry about Yellow wanting to leave...so they basically try to stop him by tackling him, and holding him back.

Eventually Yellow fights them all off, and sends his own file to the outerwebs, leaving the others shocked and angry.

Anyways, Yellow basically falls into the outerweb, and starts exploring, yadda yadda. He thinks it's all fun in games until he realizes; He can't get back.

So he's basically sad about that, and decides to go to the festival on the exact same day Gold n Mango go, how convenient!

Unlike canon AvM though, the developers realize something is wrong with the machine, and ultimately don't let gold through.

BUTTT, that's when Yellow is important here! Yellow was passing by the area, when he saw the Minecraft experience. He basically got curious about it, because he had seen the icon on Alan's PC before, but he had never actually used it. (CG doesn't play Minecraft in this AU :shrug:)

Yellow decides to check it out, and sees Gold being turned down entrance to the game. Yellow volunteers to help fix the error, and eventually gets the game working and fixed!

Anyways, because Yellow fixed the game, he and Gold become friends-- and eventually family because Mango takes yellow in, hence him having no place to go.

Since the festival ends, and both Gold and Yellow enjoyed Minecraft, Yellow decides to do some coding and eventually manages to get a portal to Minecraft in Mangos basement, so the two can access it whenever :) (Mango was...not very thrilled of the idea at first safe to say)

Eventually the two of them meet Purple, when they find her destroying a village, (she takes her anger out on Minecraft) before befriending her and totally not forcing Mango to take her in as well!

The entirety of AvM would just be the three goofing off with each other, and having fun on Minecraft, with maybe a few antagonist focused episodes

Everything seems to be going good for Yellow... nothing could go wrong right?

Well, it turns out that the rest of the CG learned how to access the outerwebs. And they aren't going back to Alan's PC. Not without finding Yellow first.

..and that's basically the summary of it!!!

also, here are some other things about the AU!!

Darklord is only a member of the CG because instead of betraying Alan in AvA, he betrays Chosen and defeats him.

Dark met the Colorgang before TSC did, when he got curious about the name of their website! Eventually he broke into the house like TSC did, and became friends with them all! :)

..Dark also renamed TSC because the whole "The Chosen Ones return" freaked him and Alan out. So now TSC is known as TFS! (The First Successor)

CG + Dark basically take over Victim and the Mercs role in this AU, except their looking for Yellow instead of Alan :p

Victim and Chosen are okay in this AU, as Victim is still a farmer :]

.. Chosen however is just locked away in a file. He'll meet Yellow and the rest of CG soon though

aw shucks, its tempting, but i don't wanna give ya spoilers. and there are truly things in lost that must be experienced by your own flesh

...yes im aware of what my blog is like

so i guess i'll give a vague spoiler free overview

so. a group of plane crash survivors find themselves on a mysterious island and have to deal with the strange happenings + their weight of their individual traumas

the show is serialized and one ep more or less flows into another, so literally no ep can be skipped (no matter what anybody says) or else you'll miss something

its a large ensemble cast, ranging from the 13 to 20s range, all in all i think theres like 35 main characters

the show follows a flashback structure, each episode dedicated itself to a main plot on the island intercut with flashbacks to one character. we call these centric episodes. eg. this is a jack centric episode. sometimes an ep will have multiple characters have flashbacks in one ep. while this show didn't originate the concept of a large cast or flashback storytelling, it did popularize it in the early 2000s. so a lot of post 2004 shows wanted to be lost so bad and it shows

at first lost was a survival show but they gloss over this very quickly and its more about the weird shit going on. as time goes on, plots and mysteries stack up. this is to create intrigue, as the shows main focus is an endless parade of character studies. with the added bonus of some cool and twisty shit going on too

but because lost had so much plot, over time it got accused of being confusing and convoluted and Not Answering Questions and well. your mileage may vary. but i think its confusing if you watch it too slowly. like, it aired over a 6 year period, no wonder people got confused. its better to watch nowadays, way easier to handle

the genre of lost is: drama mystery action paranormal sci fi romance with a dash of comedy. lost is full of the saddest fucks you'll ever meet but the show contains enough levity and great colouring to make it not a huge misery fest

pretty decent racial diversity. next to no LGBT rep. more women than the average tv show. then and now

not a single bad actor in this entire show, the performances on display are fucking outstanding. and every emotion is like up to 11, which is great for my autistic brain

for those of you who find sex scenes to be tedious, i have a bit of trivia for ya: all sex in LOST happens off screen. not a single sex scene to be found. pre sex, yes, post sex, yes. making out, yes. but sex itself? footage not found. i'm neutral on the concept, i just thought that was something to point out

i highly recommend lost to, like, anybody. ever. its a masterpiece of television. even the low points are better than most shows. sometimes i take lost for granted and then i watch any other drama series and im like "oh right, lost is incredibly good"

its my third favourite show. and thats only cuz star trek and doctor who exist, and nobody is beating those fuckers

anyways do you like to see beautiful people cry and scream but it isn't cringe?* well, i've got a show for you! *okay there is some cringe. as a treat. the leading man of this show has the social grace of a cold pancake (affectionate)

ashton gave me very manic energy this episode. a lot of emotional distress disguised as an epiphany, but that moment of them telling fcg that they can't afford to be useless explained every second of flustered panic.

My Thoughts on Tower of God Season 2 Episode 6

Finally, FUG is here!! And I believe this is the episode where we meet a certain somebody? :3

WEBTOON SPOILERS WAS TEASED BUT NOT OUTRIGHT STATED

Rating: 7/10

Summary: Music and tension was on point! However, Jinsung's face looked a bit wonky?? Maybe that's just me. I think the stiff movements while they talk is actually making the scenes feel more awkward. Either way, I really liked the pacing for this episode and I hope they COOK for the next!

You know as crazy as Yihwa was for flat out insulting Viole in front of FUG (and insulting FUG to their faces), I feel like people often miss the fact that she was angry for the whole team. She genuinely thought Viole betrayed them. While of course, her assumptions come from the fact that she was always suspicious of him to begin with, I still feel like she was just looking out for the team.

And now we are hearing Viole speak more (with emotion at least)!!! I love this older Bam voice!

Haha I love how Miseng always breaks the ice by being herself! Despite her "crybaby" personality, she genuinely helps the team ease up. The way Jinseng gave her more apples makes me ;-;.

Yea...maybe I'm just looking too deep into it? I don't know, but Jinsung's face looks a bit off??? He looks a bit too young here.

THIS is why I love Team Sweet and Sour. Like Arkraptor said, they're all defective in their own way. They cover eachother's weaknesses and provide comfort when needed. They aren't from rich or well-off families and even if one of them is, she still struggles a lot. It's just the way they're all so casual with eachother that makes me love this team so much! Found family <3.

This reveal is so well done to me. It's just told in a casual conversation. "Hey, you're very lucky. That guy who was overly friendly with you wanted to kill you all at first!". It shows how, yes, not all FUG members are insane killers. However, they cannot be trusted so easily either.

I genuinely did not like the change season 1 did at the end where Bam stands up on his own. Because it gave the impression to anime-onlies that Bam WILLINGLY joined FUG. Now this scene feels awkward. Because all of a sudden he cannot decide? This is just a nitpick and I'm sure not many people will care. But I feel like it shows how you have to be careful what you choose to change in an adaptation because it may break the immersion later down the road.

Hmm they didn't mention the memorial rings that were used to track down Bam's friends? Well it wasn't mentioned in the first season so it makes sense. I appreciate that they're still following the webtoon this time even if they have to correct some parts in order to make it flow better with season 1's changes.

Hehe Hwaryun munching while Wangnan furious. I do wish they at least showed his face properly or make him stand up in order to show his anger over Viole's situation. Sitting stiff while yelling all that feels awkward at most.

Aww I wish they showed that panel with the two of them and that glowing tower (I forgot its name whoopsie) between them! It was one of my favourite scenes :(

BAHAHAHAH IM SO SORRY BUT THAT ZOOM IN ON KARAKA WAS GENUINELY SO FUNNY AND GOOFY LOOKING. I hope season 2 part 2 has improved camera movements/zoom-ins because these look too strange. It's like the animation cannot keep up with the music.

I love everything about this. Hisoka's VA voicing Urek is so good!! I love the tone of his voice which gives off a threatening vibe.

I always liked this introduction of Urek. He looks and sounds threatening, but the moment he found out that they are Regulars and not Rankers, he was willing to let them go. He isn't a "good guy" in this, but he can definitely be reasoned with. I always loved Tower of God antagonists because of how multi-layered they can be.

And this is the best reason to why Viole is stubborn/ruthless in these tests. It's not cause he's "edgy" now. He literally cannot afford to fail a single test. It's a great motive that can keep the story constantly progressing in my opinion.

Okay so this episode was slightly better but man, the stiffness during talking scenes was pretty obvious here... I really hope they try a bit harder for next cour. But that Urek reveal was so hype!!! I cannot wait! I hope it's episode 1 animation again!!! They have a lot of expectations given the Great Journey OP which had the fight animated for the first time. Hope for the best! P.S. I know my opinions have been very...wishy-washy. So I want to make my stance clear. I am enjoying the anime. But I also acknowledge that it's not a great adaptation. There are very obvious flaws.

OK SO I'VE WATCHED EPISODES 7 AND 8 OF SEASON 2 OF TOTAL DRAMA 2023

SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT AS ALWAYS!!!

So we got our first big gen 1 cameo! That and official canonisation of Owen's win! It was one of the season wins that had a clear better winner but a confirmation is nice! I feel like it fucks the timeline up since they just. reused Owen's design from TDI again. Im not looking into it

The challenges were really fun! I liked how the cooking challenge wasn't all athletisism, and while they've already done a human pinball challenge back in WT, this one was different enough that i didn't care all that much.

I think Damien is the most 6/10 contestant so far? Like he's nice and stuff but he doesn't grab me. Maybe the immunity idol thing can make him more interesting to me? Hope they do something with that! Oh, and Wayne or Raj are SOOOO getting the boot soon. They don't have much to do outside of comic relief and they're not invested in the current drama. Personally i'd prefer if Wayne got the boot over Raj? That or they don't get booted one episode after another. I want interesting conflict damnit!

ok fine i'll get it out of the way: i DONT care for Priyaleb. Like WOW THEY'RE PREDICTABLE. MOVE OUT OF THE WAY ZOKE, PRIYALEB IS THE NEW STANDARD FOR "STRAIGHT SHIP FOR STRAIGHT PEOPLE"! transitionning to the eliminations, Ripaxel getting double elim because "haha gross ass couple" was predictable. I litterally called it twice in a row, they were gonna get eliminated for it and they did! I do think they were great and Ripaxel has legit won me over, sorry, i love Ripper being a gross idiot and Axel liking him for it. They were funny.

now for hush, i feel like we’ll guess everything under the sun, from that he’s a sovereign, he’s a shade, he’s a demon shade hybrid whatever, and then come to find out he’s actually david’s left asshole hair but i do have some small theories of my own

i feel like he is genuinely a part of the meridian. like a chunk of it. i don’t know what he looks like, (probably a human like body, obviously, or the listener wouldn’t have tried to help). the only reason i say this is because when he was giving the ‘complicated’ answer of what he was, i couldn’t even begin to tell you what the fuck the visuals might have been. (if there were any) i don’t know what the meridian looks like, but maybe that’s what it sounds like? also he has no core.

i would like to mention when the video might have taken place. we have no clue is what i wanted to point out. this could be before the inversion, the day after, the next decade after, the decade before, hundreds of years before, etc. it has become a bit troublesome in that department as erik likes to drop random time and date drops in his story push videos. (ex; avior and elliot, which is very convient i might add)

i’m scared of hush’s intentions like he tied us up after we saved him and i hate when i like evil kind of guys 😭

hush literally told us straight up ‘i can understand why they think (the articulates, chorus) they have to (send articulates to kill him). oh that’s easy. because they think i’m going to free their god from the prison they’re in. well they think that because that’s *exactly what i’m going to do.*’

UHM OKAY?? huge bomb dropped on us. BUT that solidified to me he was a chunk of meridian. no core, not exactly human, not a demon. (okay thats probably wrong but what the fuck else 😭)

there was definitely a lot happening in one episode. (also i watched it when it was released so my memory of every detail is bit iffy, spare me 🙏) it was like heartbreak all over again, hearing lasko stressed out and all the people screaming and yelling definitely wasn’t pleasant, but it was interesting seeing what else happened on the outside besides what we already know.

also, the inversion has been almost two years ago now. so i really wonder how starlight and avior are doing in present time. i would say ‘hopefully peaceful’ but present time isn’t even peaceful 🙃

honestly its been a while since i’ve watched all avior lore, and i think when the next lore(?) video of him comes out i’ll theorize a bit more, this post is definitely long but i don’t want it to be too extensive. (bullshit)

now he has to do whatever they say to help?? why 😭

and why do the sovereigns need to use blake and bestie(?) i only ask because is hush not going to free them? well to be fair we have no idea when this thing with hush is even taking place, or when bestie is set to die, or what blake is even going to do when he ‘breaks’ to free them.

and what if his will is strong enough and he doesn’t break? or his listener doesn’t die? 🤗 (wishful thinking guys!)

but actually going back to the audio whoever brachium was talking to DID say,

‘He is a tool. One that has to be broken so that it can be refashioned to a new purpose.’

KEY WORD: REFASHIONED. maybe hush is a chunk of meridian, but with blake’s body..? but he has not core. OKAY IDFK BUT he must be related to hush somehow i just don’t know how. i’ll think on it more. but blake is only a seer so i really don’t know what he could do with his current power, but who knows really.

also the entity (that’s just what i’m calling him idk) brachium was talking to said (in response to: ‘Accept a deal that I have no details of?’) ‘You’ve done it before. The blind choice to become a deathwalker.’ that has me so very curious on what the process of becoming a death walker was like. (okay it probably was explained sort of somewhere, but i don’t remember.) the entity also said ‘You say it was in service of lives.’ whose lives? i have no idea! wow great! 😀

but actually i have no ideas so hopefully everything will be explained eventually 😭

WILL IS ACTING FISHY AS FUCK?? he’s hosting the monarchal summit, but he’s just NOT GOING TO BE THERE?? and is leaving everything to vincent?!? how does that even equate?? and then his fishy attitude towards ALEXIS?? that just seems sketch. (i want to get into william more, but talk about porter rq, ig.)

porter solaire. HES BRITISH.(🎊🎉) he’s quite charming, (when he wants to be,) but i can see where vincent and porter’s disagreement came from, but it was semi-resolved (they still have a bit of conflict) so i’m not going to go into and i’m just gonna dissect the summit!

SHE HAS THE PERFECT PERSON TO VOICE HER. that is EXACTLY how i’d imagined she’d sound. and honestly how’d she act as well. i didn’t think she’d be nice to darlin, but i was definitely thinking more of a nasty glare, growl, show of teeth or something and not full on banter, and insults, but i guess that’s just how she acts.

WHERE IS WILLIAM SOLAIRE?? WHERE. like there is no way he just was like, ‘yes vincent, take of the entire planning of the summit, that i’m supposed to be hosting. 😊 and also, i’m not even going to tell you why! and the day of i’m not even going to talk to you! let alone on the phone! 🥰’ LIKE?? AND THEN SOMEONE DIES?? (we’ll get to that.) SERIOUSLY?!

and then ‘House of Baz(?) (truly not sure how it’s spelled) starts saying ‘Make sure Quinn burns.’ ‘It’s not only your pack who wants him dead.’ ‘Quinn has friends and you can’t count on William to keep them at bay.’ (not quotes btw just a summary!) EXCUSE ME??? 😭 WHAT DO YOU MEAN?? DROPPING BOMBSHELLS AND WILLIAM ISNT EVEN THERE TO SAY ANYTHING. alexis and sam still must have a small little understanding since she decided to leave darlin alone (as she said at least) but alexis full on said that darlin was dog and he didn’t say anything 😭 i mean i guess he wasn’t trying to argue further but i just took notice.

i was trying to theorize where porters info came from, and all i can think of is a seer. (boring way out ik) now if it was a seer he talked to before the event, (which is why he came back in the first place, possibly, maybe.) he knew they were going to have that conversation, and so he told sweetheart to spy, but then im not sure if he knew that death was going to to happen, but im not sure. or maybe he heard rumors, or overheard them saying they may had that conversation which makes more sense, but hopefully more will be revealed.

WHAT WERE THEY TALKING ABOUT??!

‘If we had waited for you to make decisions two years ago “King” then the entire Inversion would have been for nothings” EXCUSE ME??! okay, okay, i kinda don’t believe this. maybe they had some connection to it. and yes i skipped some so let’s talk about them funding closeknit.

okay so they are funding closeknit because they want to people to join, but the amount of people joining and staying are plummeting because the inversion was two years ago. i have a sneaking suspicion that the reason they were like ‘the inversion was for nothing’ was because closeknit had convinced them somehow that they were the cause, and it would draw people in, and then they’d(house of bennett) would have power. there isn’t a lot of context, but definitely eye openers.

the only thing we have right now to go on is that the sovereigns caused the inversion, (releasing the dead ig? idfk too much shit to keep track of) and i don’t know if they have the power, (or closeknit even) to cause the inversion.

also regarding the timing thing i said about hush earlier, i do believe his whole shabang is in present time because nothing is happening. everything inversion related, sovereigns related, whatever is happening is IN THE PAST. which means in present time blake’s listener could already be dead AND he could have already have ‘broke’ and has something to do with hush (possibly) to help free them.

i was trying to think if closeknit didn’t actually cause the inversion (what i think) but tried to convince the house of bennet to fund them, (if they weren’t already,) it would be showing them the shade. idk bro im grasping onto loose strings here 😭 but PLEASE let me know your theories (that might be the case that blake ‘broke’ in maybe 2022 and he was being kept for a while like the articulate who came to doc’s apartment said.)

DEATH OR MURDER??

okay so the obvious suspect is sweetheart right? king of bennett and prince(?) of bennett having a VERY interesting and PRIVATE conversation, sweetheart goes in to spy on said conversation, those two hear a sound, it wasn’t just a mouse, and then the king of bennett is dead. i think it’s easiest to assume murder. and what could have naturally killed him…? nothing. to my knowledge. 😊

MURDER ( only viable option..?)

first i want to quickly talk about porter and vincent’s interaction before i talk about how the king may have died. porter tried to start a fight with vincent which i assume was for one of two reasons. one, to make a distraction so people would pay attention to them and sweetheart had a chance to leave, OR because he had something to do with the murder and maybe a distraction was apart of the plan. i think the latter.

i don’t think alexis is the killer. ‘but she knew he was dead before anyone!’ what motive did she have? none that i know of, and neither did porter(well maybe he knew that conversation was happening could be one but whatever.)

BUT i guess sweetheart may have had a tiny ass motive as they might have been angry at what they heard, (after all milo went through) BUT i don’t think they would do that. and even if they got caught they would have to murder both of them for them not to get in trouble. now my tiny theory is that sweetheart DID get caught spying and maybe the prince thought the king sent someone to assassinate him and then yk but whatever (far fetched 😔) IDFK we don’t even know the cause of death. 😭 Alexis just said he’s dead, not ‘the king of Bennett was killed’ or some shit so we don’t even know. and as a vampire, how many causes of death could he really have? does garlic and wooden stakes apply?? can he get murdered in regular human fashion?? WAS HE EVEN MURDERED??

as you can tell this post has many questions and zero fucking answers. like could he have been poisoned?? what can vampires be killed by in the redacted universe?? i’m guessing the number one suspect is the person who was in the room with him ‘alone’, but i feel that’s too obvious. and i mean we don’t know the exact time jump from when the king was killed, from when porter was trying to instigate a reaction from vincent, from when alexis found the body, when sweetheart went to spy, etc. we don’t even know exactly where the body was found. 😭 so i’m not going to settle on any one person being ‘the killer’ for now until another video is released but i have a feeling it won’t be like an exact continuation of the summit and maybe like an aftermath type video. idk but we’ll wait and see i guess.

Lets talk about The Elusive Samurai and, more importantly, Cloverworks (the production company)

Because by god Cloverworks youve done it again!! (Rant incoming, spoiler-free)

Like the anime community is always talking about Mappa and Ufotable and Studio Bones (mostly for MP100) but no one ever talks about Cloverworks

Cloverworks, in some works more than others for sure, is excelling in both the big battles and the little moments, the cinematography and colors, mood and lighting, evidenced not just by The Elusive Samurai but in The Promised Neverland S1, Wonder Egg Priority, Spy x Family, and Windbreaker. Like hello people it should be up there in terms of visuals, mixture of CGI and hand-drawn animation, and fight choreography?

Of course there is plenty to critique, like its struggle with properly adapting and ending its stories (im looking at you TPN and WEP), its rough scheduling and production issues with projects like WEP, but the animation studio itself is COOKING for some of its shows

The reason i bring up Elusive Samurai is because from the start and to its current point not once have i ever thought "eh i could look out the window right about now" because every MOMENT there is something visually stunning, funny, or horrifying happening on screen. I genuinely think i wouldnt enjoy the show as much if the show wasnt so gorgeous. Not because the story is bad, but because the beauty of animation as a medium elevates the show so much.

And im also just grateful for the fact that im watching a show with more stylization, like it has a recognizable style in its coloring, character design, visual gags, etc. This is part of why I love Demon Slayer so much. You can recognize each character easily by their eyes alone!! And the show isnt trying to be hyperrealistic, and its more beautiful because of it (its a bit more complicated than this but thats a different discussion)

And its always consistent in every show of theirs Ive watched !! There has yet to be a moment where i realize "oh they had budget for this scene" or "oh they really didnt care about this scene". There is differing levels of details, but nothing feels out of the realm of previous episodes, and this is true for a lot of Cloverwork shows!! Just look at Windbreaker, with all its fight scenes, or better yet, S1 of The Promised Neverland, which I believe to be a great example of using good animation to make simple scenes feel the high-quality as pivotal scenes!!

Anyway

I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate Cloverworks, and I would probably had made a post like this for Studio Trigger if it wouldnt just be me pointing to Dungeon Meshi, Little Witch Academia, Kill La Kill, and just posting a bunch of gifs
