Summary:

Silver is braced for the transformation, and so he manages to maintain his composure, though when the pressure of fingers against his skull becomes the sharp flex of talons his knees go weak. Huge, bat-like wings erupt from Flint’s back, and horns sprout above his temples; by the time it's over, he has grown to at least half again his normal size. His face is still more or less his own, but his eyes are decidedly reptilian, and they watch Silver warily.

“Oh, hello,” Silver murmurs, soft and soothing, determined not to be ruled by his fear. “Aren’t you magnificent?”

Flint’s lips pull back to reveal sharp, gleaming teeth; he gives a warning growl.

“None of that now,” Silver says, holding his ground as he would with a skittish animal. “You aren’t going to frighten me away. Did you not think I knew what I was asking for?”

I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT SO SO SO SO FUCKING MUCH whenever like. The idea that kabru can do anything with mithrun is being romantizised. Like... i dunno i really dont like it... i see kabru like oogling on mithrun, and it's seen as "romantic," or when i see kabru do smth thats dubious but its seen as fine bc mithrun doesnt "care"/no reaction" ...

it puts... a really .. sour taste in mouth..... really sour.... like qyite frankly i dont care if mithrun "he doesn't care" or "doesn't know" seriously do you hear yourself.

I really wish we had more than one word for consent because I think differentiating between "wanting and agreeing to participate in something" and "wanting and agreeing to participate that in something that can be consented to while having the capacity to do so" would be so useful.

there are so many applicable cases. like, people should be able to discuss why childhood sexual abuse is going to have a different type of traumatic impact when the victim actively wanted to participate without their word choice implying they were somehow capable of genuine consent

I feel like so often we end up equivocating about consent because one party is stating that a set of actions falls into the "cannot be consented to" category but others are saying that because they were actively desiring the actions, that means there was consent.

If someone goes to a doctor and consents to be blinded, so what??? The doctor is obligated to not go ahead and blind them. I've use the term "meaningful" consent in the past but it really doesn't capture the distinction I want to make.

Eddie was determined to sulk his way through the basketball game.  Just because the kid he used to babysit for was now in the NBA, why did that mean he had to attend these games.
