The one I remember the most, I think the first one in the series, has WWX and LWJ visiting someplace that is very Disney like. However, in the Disney like version, one of them is made into a princess. It’s actually quite hilarious. It literally starts when WWX wakes after a night of party to find there's a baby (4-5 ish) in his apartment. He also spots a bag with all basic baby essentials left in his apartment and a note explaining he (the dad) is leaving the kid (A-Yuan) here for sometime. The baby was very calm indicating it was a common occurence. He phones around and sometime later learns from his sister that the kid's dad is a good for nothing person. In the meantime he decides, he is going to look after the kid.

It's a bit of a slice of life kind fanfic. Where WWX buy toys and things needed for a kid. For the first day, he even takes him to college class and the whole class is enamoured by the kid. Somehow, LWJ also ends up taking care of the kid, and when WWX wants to adopt A-yuan, The only solution (according to the logic that LWJ gave him) is that they should get married, since WWX has a student visa. In a super friendly way of course, just Bros being Bros and all that while they become parents of a little A-yuan

19. Bless you all and your hard work ahead of time: If you are amenable, I am looking for a fic that I read once months ago and foolishly did not bookmark that had the following characteristics:

Yu Ziyuan survived past the Lotus Pier massacre (I cannot recall if Jiang Fengmian did either)

Wei Wuxian returned to Lotus Pier after the Sun Shot Campaign, still having cultivated the ghost path

There is a notable scene about chapter 6-10 (if I remember right) where Wei Wuxian is punished with Zidian by Madame Yu in Lotus Pier after the Sun Shot Campaign, which either Jiang Cheng or Lan Wangji as a witness, and in which Wei Wuxian nearly dies because of his lack of golden core. This scene also had relatively non-graphic art (I think) embedded near the end of the chapter in the text, but was possibly in the footnotes. I for sure remember there being art in that chapter though of Wei Wuxian.

I don't quite remember any specific tags attached, nor do I remember if there was any time travel involved, but obviously it's some kind of canon divergence I just can't for the life of me remember what. I think there was also another pic or two in other chapters, and I believe it was unfinished at the time (and thus probably still unfinished), but it might not be! I hope this isn't too broad. I've been scouring the "Hurt Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian" and "Torture" and "Abuse" tags, making sure that Yu Ziyuan is included in the search, but I've obviously had no luck.

Hello, I was #20 on the Jan 17th fic finder. I come with more info. The fic is mainly focused around Wei Wuxian . They received a letter of help from a small village being attacked by a Yao. This Yao in particular is wearing human skin and taken an interest in Wei Wuxian. The Yao starts tormenting Wei Wuxian though no one ever seems to catch the moments happening, so everyone thinks that Wei Wuxian is losing it. i'm not a huge shipper honestly!

i think it's because i'm somewhere on the aro ace spectrum. definitely ace, probably some variation of aro.

so for me, i respect all ships 'cause i'm like. it's whatever, i don't care, i was in the spn fandom. as long as people tag things and aren't weird to others about it, i don't care.

but as for ships personally? yeah i'm something like you, anon. i have to feel a pretty deep connection to the characters, i'm not really one for toxic ship dynamics, i'm picky i guess? i think the only thing i've ever actively shipped is songxiao because they were so good and so tragic and also so full of hope. i'm sucker for that sort thing.

i don't know, it's never been something i super care about, i do have an extremely small handful of ships i like (think literally just two), but again, i'm weird 'cause affection to me is often deeply platonic so. y'know.

I'm currently writing for Visual Prison and The Untamed/MDZS fandoms, but in the past I've written for Star Wars Rebels, the mcu, Supernatural, and a few others

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Maybe not so accidentally (899 kudos). A kalluzeb (star wars rebels) canon divergence AU

A Blind Goddess (657 kudos). Another kalluzeb fic. The star wars rebels fandom is a big one, so I guess it's not a surprise my top 3 fics with most kudos belong to it. It doesn't necessarily mean they're my best fics, only that more people have read them. But I'm grateful anyway.

The Reasons Why (426 kudos). Also a kalluzeb fic, and the first one I ever posted in English (I had only written in my own language until then). It was nerve-wracking to take that step but everyone's response was so kind it encouraged me to continue.

We Weren't Always Like This (413 kudos). This is a matchablossom fic (SK8 the Infinity), the first of the two fics I've written for that pairing.

No es la sangre (401 kudos). A thorki AU. This one is in Spanish

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Of course! The comments are a place to fangirl with people who are just as enthusiastic about the OTP as you are, what's not to like? Maybe I don't always reply as fast as I should, but I enjoy doing it.

6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I think most of my fics have a happy ending, I'm a basic bitch and proud of it. The only exception I can recall is It's not over, a destiel fic that was inspired by episode 5x04 of Supernatural and there's no way a story set in that alternate timeline could end well tbh.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

The other 75? XDD. Okay, fine, there are two fics in which the happy ending felt very satisfactory to me because the characters went through quite a lot of angst to get there: Under the Spotlight (songxiao, The Untamed/MDZS) and Take my hand, take my whole life too (sagamist, Visual Prison)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No, I've been really lucky in that regard

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do, but I'm pretty vanilla about it. I think the kinkiest thing I've ever written was some light bondage and very soft dom/sub dynamics.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

El vínculo más profundo. It's more of a fusion than a crossover actually. The characters are from the movie "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" but the story is set in the Pacific Rim universe. It was fun to write

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes, it happened a couple of times with No es la sangre. Someone took it and posted it as their own, first on ffnet and then on wattpad. I don't think it was the same person in both cases. One of the (many) advantages of writing for small fandoms, as I do now, is that the chances of that kind of thing happening are almost zero.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Partially. Someone started translating No es la sangre into English, but they got busy and stopped after a while. I've thought about translating it myself but to be honest, I don't have the energy.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes, a very long time ago, with a very dear friend of mine. It was for the X-Files fandom.

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

This is the most difficult question of this whole meme. I can't choose one, I love my ships dearly. I'd have to name at least five.

15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I only have two wips currently in the works and I intend to finish both of them.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Action scenes, I think. Sometimes dialogue.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Pacing, infodumping, knowing how to let a story breathe and not rushing it. Those are the things I find more difficult to get right.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

If the story needs it, and if it's a language I know well, why not?

19. First fandom you wrote for?

The X-Files. Yeah, it's been a while

20. Favorite fic you've written?

I changed my mind, this one is actually the most difficult question. Aaah, I don't know, I tend to associate my fics with the community I get to enjoy through them, you know? It's not about how proud I am of the fic itself, it's about the whole experience. I am very fond of En la prórroga because I wrote it as a birthday gift for a friend and she loved it. I'll always love Under the Spotlight because it was my doorway to the songxiao fandom, where I have met some of the most amazing people you can find on the Internet. The same for Can't go back anymore, my first visupri fic, because I got to become part of an incredible group of friends thanks to it. And then there's Baby, It's Cold Outside and all the fun we had while I was posting that one. I'm overwhelmed by the response I've received to Maybe not so accidentally and No es la sangre, because I never expected any fic of mine to become so loved by anyone. So how am I going to choose just one?

the character everyone gets wrong

Gonna say a toss-up between Xiao Xingchen and Xue Yang here.Guess it depends on whether you mean in fic or just in The Discourse in general?

I see so so many bad takes on Xue Yang, especially people utterly glossing over his trauma, and... I'm happy for you guys, I guess, who've apparently never known trauma and what it does to a person? It's not a matter of Xue Yang deciding to be a murderous asshole because he broke a finger once. It's that his entire personality and the way his mind works were brutally shaped by severe abuse and trauma at a very young age. You don't have to like him or at all condone his actions, but have a little compassion, for fuck's sake.

As for Xiao Xingchen... I don't know which rubs me the wrong way the most, the "lol XXC can't do math" crowd claiming he's outright stupid, or the "lol XXC was raised by hippies" who utterly disregard his whole cultural context. Personally not at all a fan of mean (dom) Xiao Xingchen either, I just can't see it work with his canon personality, but to each their own, I guess. I won't read it, though.

2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom

Hmmm. That's actually a tough one, because I hc Xue Yang (And Xiao Xingchen for that matter) as rather fluid switches without particular preference as long as things are sexy and feel good.

I guess you could argue that Xue Yang would be wary about who he'd let top him because of his rough and precarious childhood and how badly the world's hurt him, but then, the boy also has a self-destructive high-risk-behaviour streak a mile wide, so.

I guess the closest I can get is that I don't think Song Lan enjoys the idea of bottoming, partly because of his more ingrained ideas of masculinity and femininity and the power roles he feels are inherent in topping/bottoming, but more importantly because he already struggles with physical touch, and the idea of being held down, touched and "trapped" in any way during sex is a bit scary. Not to say he wouldn't come around to it, but it'd take a lot more mulling over - and gentle experimentation. 😏

I already answered 12, so moving on to 16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)

Oh man, is this my cue to mutter about mean dom Xiao Xingchen again? Like, I get the appeal of exploring characters far outside their canon constraints, I really do, and if mean dom Xiao Xingchen tickles your metaphorical pickle, by all means, have fun! I just personal really dislike it. (I am super grateful to all writers out there who have started tagging for it, though! It makes it easier to avoid - and find, for those who are into it. Everyone wins!)

As for pairings, I just don't like SangCheng or XiCheng, they both feel very pair-the-spares to me, and are just... Mm. Not for me. Honestly, funnily enough, SongXiao goes here, too, 95% of the time. I pretty much only like these two as part of SXX - I don't know if it is because of many SongXiao shippers' way of treating Xue Yang like dirt, or just because the two characters on their own don't interest me much, but yeah. On the whole, I won't read fic for just SongXiao unless recommended by people I trust, and I'll only like/reblog art if it's very pretty and doesn't imply dead Xue Yang.

I also really don't like most modern au BDSM fic? So much of it reads like a wholesome manual - and I'm sure for people in that scene, it's really hot! It just doesn't do anything at all for me, except give me secondhand embarrassment. If sex is going to be a bit painful and having undertones of dominance and submission, i want it to be very, very real, borderline dangerous and not done for play or politely negotiated beforehand. Gimme the hot mess or nothing.

(Mandatory disclaimer that these are just my personal squicks and mehs, not passing any judgment on anyone who does like them! My Kink Is Not Your Kink And That's Okay, and ship and let ship. ✌)

22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores

I think Xue Yang's and a-Qing's relationship is a lot more complicated than a lot of people seem to want to think! Especially for those who've only watched CQL, where a lot of the Yi City arc was either cut or angled to make it into more of a psychological thriller - but they were a family! All three of them, and in the text there is such clear evidence that they all really cared about each other! Even Xue Yang.

A-Qing stole his candy without fear, asked him "why were you like that when you were little??" when he told the first half of the story of his childhood trauma. When she claimed to have been bullied to the point of crying, he protectively told her how to defend herself and made her apple bunnies to cheer her up. Even after Xiao Xingchen's death (and he must have known by then that she was the one who sold him out) one of the things he did while cleaning the house was to make her bed, waiting for her to come back home.

Not least of all, Wang Haoxuan said in his in-character farewell note that Xue Yang would have protected a-Qing as long as their happy 'dream' in Yi City lasted.

They ended horribly, yes, causing each others' deaths, but there was a time where they cared deeply about each other and looked out for each other, and that still matters.

two-shots: I never understand this question but it looks like it means to rec your own two-chapter fics so here we go: Stories More Beautiful Than Answers (CQL, Mianmian gets to meet Jin Ling post-canon) and Rhûnlanders (I published it as a series of 2 separate fics, but it's basically 1 thing: Songxiao in Middle Earth - Xiao Xingchen is an Elf and Song Zichen is a Man, both from Rhûnland so they're still Asian)

most popular multi-chapter fic: Obviously Yunmeng In-Laws (my and @iamwestiec's CQL modern AU groupchat fic which had bafflingly runaway success) has to be the answer to this. But if we're only going by ones written solely by me, it's But, After All, I Am A Wen (incomplete Wen Qing canon divergence wherein she actually takes and uses the comb Jiang Cheng gave her to commit treason and save her family's lives)

actual worst part of writing: having the fucking brain space to fucking write, fuck. it's been really hard bc i have so many other obligations and they eat my brain so even if i have ideas i can't get them to turn into prose :(

how you choose your titles: in order of likelihood: first, quote from the fic itself; joint second place, something kinda descriptive of the fic or lines from a poem or song

do you outline? not generally. I did outline my multichapter Wen Qing fic bc it's so much more ambitious than anything else i've ever worked on and I occasionally do something resembling in an outline in the doc of my one shots when i know what happens in the sections but don't have the prose yet; it's usually, like, a series of bracketed statements.

ideas you probably won't get around to, but wouldn't it be nice? oh god so many lmao. i have an entire channel in my writing discord that is just these ideas. One idea I have is a Songxiao no eye transfer AU because BSSR doesn't open the mountain back up to XXC and how they have to deal with that. Also I have yet to write any Witcher fic but I've been playing Witcher 3 and I really wanna write a Vesemir POV fic that's 5+1 "5 times Geralt sent some random-ass stranger to Kaer Morhen and 1 time he came home" inspired by all the times in Witcher 3 when you can help someone and then be like "Oh yeah you'd be welcome at Kaer Morhen"

Do you think xue yang and xiao xingchen are soulmates, or two lonely people who just found something with each other? Or something else? I know you don't like songxiao but I can see the soulmate thing for them, so I was wondering if you see something similar for xuexiao? (I'm genuinely curious, not trying to be bitchy or convert you or anything! Hope you're having a good day!)

I’m not a particular fan of the framing of “soulmates” in general, and even less of a fan of the idea of a one-true-love or even one-great-love. (Weird fandom to be in with that opinion? Perhaps.) In general that’s just not how I think about pairings or relationships; I’m actually actively averse to it, to a greater or lesser extent, across fandoms. 

Which is to say - I see the songxiao and xuexiao relationships as being very different. And I mean, obviously, if I gotta add this caveat, the latter is based on an extremely unhealthy foundation of a massive lie, but setting that aside I think that...idk, foundationally, in terms of personality only, there’s not necessarily a “one is inevitably ‘truer’ than the other” hierarchy, or that the underlying emotions are more inevitably deep. 

(I’m not talking about “better” here, I do not care about “better.”)

Xiao Xingchen specifically gets something different from both relationships, and I think in both cases it is something that he needs (and in both cases he’s not getting something else that he does); I wrote about this a bit, specifically digging into how Xiao Xingchen relates to his “friend,” here.

(and this is why songxuexiao guys I’m just saying, Xiao Xingchen deserves all the things, he’s got two hands and a big heart)

This is to say that as far as I’m concerned under other circumstances (in another universe, in another life) there’s not necessarily a reason to consider one or the other deeper or more genuine. In canon that’s different, I’d say, by virtue of time and truth and chance (Xue Yang pretty much tanked that relationship before it even started by virtue of his poor life choices), but part of what I love about xuexiao is the missed opportunity of it all. The could-have-been, the disaster of possibility interrupted by circumstance and bad decisions.

If you assume that songxiao is like. soulmate endgame and Xue Yang was just the rebound, you lose that gutpunch. 

I actually really like the idea that, if we’re going to go with any kind of metaphysical bond, these three are like. Cosmically tied together in some tangled destructive mess. 

I’m with Song Jiyang here! If Song Lan and Xue Yang were in the water drowning, they’re all dying together.

I need more people to scream with about this show with. 2) About song lan/xiao xingchen, I thought it's cool that song lan left with xxc's sword (purpose & focus of energy), spiritual power (literal soul), and eyes (literal body). What if someone could use that to resurrect him? Mostly bc i love the idea of them mirroring lwj/wwx's reunion somehow. So many possible parallels.

First of all, VICTORY, everyone should watch the Untamed and scream to me about it.  If anyone wants a rec post, here it is.

Second of all, G O D, I’m so???  I’m so proud of you for being the very first person to send me an ask about Xiao Xingchen/Song Lan, I love them so goddamn much, what a fucking tragedy.  The potential.  The girlfriend got very frustrated with my determination to wallow in the Anguish(TM) and dared me to write a coffee shop AU, so I am doing that.

There is a coffee shop extant in the AU, it exists, the fact that it is also a “Song Lan has wandered the earth for a thousand years waiting for Xiao Xingchen to reincarnate and now he has and he doesn’t know Song Lan” AU is secondary to the fact that THERE IS A COFFEE SHOP IN THIS FIC.

Anyway.  I’m kind of thinking about like...a Galatea kind of situation here?  As long as we’re on the subject of reincarnation AUs and happy endings.  Like, Song Lan sees to it that a memorial is built for Xiao Xingchen, and that’s one thing, but he also creates a statue, and that’s quite another.  It takes him a long time to think of it, and he does it because he wants to be sure that he can remember the shape of his jaw, the bend of his wrist.  Song Lan is the only fierce corpse in the world who’s spent untold decades refining the brute strength of the dead into something that resembles a skilled touch, so that he can use Shuanghua (and Fuxue, but...mostly for Shuanghua) as it deserves, and he puts it to work on clay and then on stone.

It takes him a long time.  That’s okay.  Song Lan has nothing but time.  A-Qing is gone, her spirit healed and free, and he encouraged her to move on, because it would hurt Xiao Xingchen, when he came back, to know that A-Qing lingered as a ghost for his sake.  All Song Lan has left to him is time and Xiao Xingchen’s sight and sword and soul, so he looks on the world and makes sure to find it beautiful, and goes night hunting for anyone who will take a strange mute cultivator’s help, and creates a statue so that the world will remember him.

He’s sorry, when the statue is finally finished.  It’s nowhere in particular.  It’s somewhere important.  Song Lan doesn’t know where the celestial mountain is, relative to anything in particular, but he has a--painfully clear memory, of opening his new eyes for the first time, and knows the Nowhere In Particular crossroad in question down to the blades of grass.  The statue raises its blindfolded face toward the sunrise, with a small smile on its lips and a hand held out as if in benediction or aid.  It’s tall and handsome, delicate-boned and long-haired, dressed in flowing robes and bearing a whisk in the crook of its folded arm.  It holds no sword--of course.  Song Lan couldn’t bring himself to give it a facsimile of Shuanghua, not while he holds out hope that the real thing might someday see its owner again.

Song Lan lets his fingers linger on the palm of the uplifted hand before he steels himself to step away.

The statue stirs, and reaches after him.

The premise is Wei Wuxian is asked to watch a class of baby Lan junior disciples when the teacher is pulled away, much to Lan Qiren's dismay. He's left watching them for much longer than Lan Qiren intended and ends up really helping the students, particularly one little kid who hadn't been able to develop his core very well yet. 6. I am back again, please, you are wonderful, i need help finding another fic. (One day i will start logging the titles of fics I love.) I know the plot, but all my keyword/tag searches have been unsuccessful. So, For a Fic Finder: It's a modern (no magic) fic set just as we went into full pandemic lock down. (It may have been set in Canada - but I'm not positive on that detail.) Wei Ying is an artist--a painter, and he lives with Lan Zhan, who (i think) teaches music. They are friends but not yet a couple at the fic's start. A big plot point is Wei Ying has a setious unspecified auto-immune disease (i recall one symptom was painfully swollen joints) that is debilitating when it flares up. It also means he has to stay strictly home due to his immune system being compromised. Let's see...Lan Zhan has bunnies and as he gets really depressed during lock down, he uses his hefty trust fund to shop online for increasingly ridiculous/expensive stuff (think stuff like jeweled bunny water bowls from Tiffany and Cartier). Eventually, Wei Ying and Lan Zhan confess & get together. The only thing after that, that is sad, is how much they both miss LZ's son, A-Yuan. A-Yuan & Jingyi are at university and initially stay with Jiang Yanli when campus shuts down. Wei Ying thinks that they won't be able to come home for break as planned, because they don't want to risk Wri Ying getting covid. But the ending of the fic is both boys secretly super quarantine themselves and then borrow a car and drive the long road home. A-Yuan was adopted by Lan Zhan and at the very end he calls Wei Ying "Dad," which is a huge deal to Wei Ying.

About the fic:

It's been a long time since I read this one, so it's an older fic (at least more than 3-4 years ago). It was centred around MDZS as a story with Jiang Wanyin as the MC and YLZ as the villain. Our main characters had a whole fandom around it, where LWJ is a famous author and WWX a not-very-popular artist who drew fanart of the most hated character in the book "Yiling Laozu" (I think he was an artist, could also be a fellow writer).

I remember there was lot of fandom discourse about WWX and his choice of character to support and how YLZ was always jealous of JWY and did actually maliciously cause everything he was accused of in this alternate MDZS canon. Then, suddenly, LWJ + WWX end up pairing up for a fandom event (a big bang or smth similar), and WWX has the idea of a story where canon divergence occurs and YLZ is a good person instead (like actual canon) and LWJ agrees to write for it.

This was as far as I had read for it. From I remember it was a WIP. Thanks <3 @indelibleme

I LOVE this one. Xiyao. It's Explict so you're forewarned. Modern AU

Probably the best, most well known Songxuexiao fic out there. Ongoing. Updates every other week usually. Rated Mature. Divergent canonverse.

Modern AU Songxue (implied xuexiao and songxiao). Explict. I love all I've read of saturnalyia's song/xue/xiao stuff. Another fav is their fic Once More With Feeling - Xuexiao Reincarnation AU rated Mature.

As for a few actual books (though not actively reading and if I were to list all the one's I'm partly through, the list would be 20+ long), I've still got a few MDZS chapters to go, started Faraway Wanderers, and switched to Ursula K. Le Guin's translation of the Tao Te Ching after I was all ??? with the one I already owned.
