#I'm adopting her as my grandma actually

I think of it like an identical twin: Yeah, the cultural/emotional relationship depends on who raises the kid, separate to the DNA. But regardless of who raise(d) us, we are genetic siblings/twins. If I found out tomorrow that my Suspiciously Similar Looking same aged "cousin" was actually my twin separated at birth and raised by my aunt, they'd still be my cousin, but also my genetic twin, and that genetic connection would have meaning. If tomorrow I met a baby one of my siblings was giving up for adoption, that baby would still be my biological nibling, regardless of where it ended up after that.

Like any adoptee, the clone baby's feelings about their biological family (not just me but my parents and siblings, our ancestors, etc) could end up anywhere from "indifferent except for health implications" to "deeply connected". And as with the hypothetical adopted out nibling, I would try and respect the kid's feelings, but on my own part would regardless definitely feel a certain Older Relative affection and responsibility. And as much as I'd respect boundaries (especially on their gender, which would plausibly not match mine) I'd really want to pass on advice on how not to end up as sick as me with a body like ours haha.

Speaking of projecting past regrets my mother would desperately want the kid raised Jewish in a way I wasn't. We have a family Zoom call tomorrow, gonna have to resist asking "So if a baby clone of me appeared tomorrow which of us would raise it".

Scenario: a sample of your DNA was taken, popped into a cell, and cloned into a baby, gestated in a sci-fi artificial womb vat. The first time you or anyone in your family meets this baby is after it has already been born out of said vat. You can hold the newborn if you want, it's up to you, but it is a living breathing baby that was cloned from your DNA and is genetically identical to you.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Jack & Joker (Thai Mon IQIYI) ep 4 of 12 - I love Joke so much! And I love War in this role so much. It’s great. This is a great show it’s such fun. The comedy is somewhat leaving me flat. But that’s normal for me in this kind of Thai BL. I also like Hope. I shouldn’t, but I do. I love the little girl character as well, and I do believe that Joke has found his scion in her.

(As per usual the grandma of this BL speaks for all of us.)

Kidnap (Fri YT) ep 5 of 12 - Coils be coiling. Mummy dearest is v hot. I do like the twist on the henchmen. It would’ve been really gut-wrenching if Q had put the rope around his own wrist the night that he slept by himself (or tried to). And they have now made "the promise that is destined to be broken" waves at trope. Meanwhile, great flirting. Next week being episode six we should be getting our kiss.

(Was GMMTV gently poking at Jack & Joker with that play-within-a-play reference to Jack as Min's stunt part?)

Fourever You (Thai Thurs YT) ep 1 of 16 - Sampler pack university BL from Wabi Sabi that's trying to be a gay Boys Over Flowers (4 older med student hot boys + frosh) and it’s exactly what I want right now. Is it good? No, not really. Do I care? Not at all. It is, in fact, boys over flowers... only boys no flowers. I really couldn’t want anything more than that. What can I say? I’m easy. I love a pining seme. I guess what I am saying is, I am trash for trash. Inject this shit directly into my eyeballs.

Love Sick 2024 (Thai Sun iQIYI) ep 3 of 15 - At least in this version they talk bit more with each other about what’s going on. (Then again in the original we didn't need it, the acting was so good.) Still it’s a lot more modern to see representation of communication, but but the previous version felt more honest to teen behavior. This open communication entirely changes the push pull dynamic of Phun & Noh's whole relationship. I actually LIKE that change because it makes it very different from the original. I’ve been hoping that this one would veer in a different direction. I'm enjoying that they've made it Phun with the long term crush, and that he’s sort of testing himself with heterosexuality. It is selfish, but it is also a very rich kid thing to do. I love the shouted confessions and the decision to not date. This is a really good twist on the original. I’m liking this a hell of a lot more now that it’s substantially changed in direction, if not in tone.

Monster Next Door (Thai Thurs Gaga ) ep 11 of 12 - It’s very sweet and wholesome. And everyone kisses pretty. And I do like the communication and green flag aspects of this show. But I'm also finding it a touch dull. 

Battle of the Writers (Sun YT) ep 9 of 12 - I don’t know. The pretending to be blind thing is weird. This whole show is weird. I’m kinda weirded out by it. I like the two side couples well enough, but we get barely any time with them at all.

I Saw You in My Dream (Weds Gaga) ep 12 fin - I like that they did come around to the dreaming thing as a major plot point in the end. Even though it felt like they forgot about it in the middle. And I liked that it was an inherited family trait. I didn’t expect that (should have, but I didn't). And I thought it suited this kind of drama, even if it was a little pat. The whole family helping at the very end was very sweet and a nice full circle for the narrative. (Like the Ae's family sort of adopting the next-door kids originally. 

Summation

A cute friends to lovers romance, that’s a little bit like the stepbrothers trope since these two grow up next-door to each other and in and out of each other’s lives. The paranormal element is about prophetic dreams, and it is threaded through the narrative even if it gets somewhat lost in the muddy middle. All in all, a sweet fun little series with decent chemistry. 8/10

Addicted Heroin (Thai Tues WeTV) ep 8 of 10 - I've totally forgotten what’s going on. There was another kidnapping. Maybe they’re actually dating now? I don’t know. Honestly, it won’t really matter cause everything will change by the end of this episode... again. That said, I did love the parental confrontation sequence. It’s not as good as in the original because it’s a lot more direct and modernized, but it was pleasingly aggressive. Which I weirdly appreciated for the military angle. The cross-dressing thing was odd. The dolls advertising thing is even odder. Jealous baby on sports day was good though.

Bad Guy My Boss (Thai Sun Gaga) ep 3 of 10 - Why did I feel like I’ve seen this entire episode already. It’s just different characters saying the same thing to the main characters or flirting the same way or whatever. 

Live in Love (Sun Gaga) ep 5 fin - I did not like this ep at all. Fully half of it was evil backstabbing and some bullying and some sort of trying to engender sympathy for a friendship betrayal. And I was not on board. (Wouldn’t mind seen Hali and that cute kid in something together tho.) 

Conclusion

Basically this was a story about online relationships and how they interface with the real world, and in personal friendships, plus bullying of all types and some backstabbing and shipping. The acting was weak, the sound was terrible, and generally it was an old style pulp offering. It tried to deal with some interesting issues, but was awfully clumsy about it. 5/10 

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Sugar Dog Life (Japan Sun grey) ep 9 fin - Such a great confession, so truthful and earnest and honest. And he’s also like that with his friends. And such a nice answer. I love that during the cool off they both realize how very much they both act like are boyfriends to each other all the time. Ooo running of the gays! And we even got a cute little smile kiss!!!! and an adorable boyfriend montage at the end. How unexpectedly satisfying of you, Japan!

Summation 

This is a phenomenally charming and adorable little romance about a forlorn university kid and the police officer who adopts him. They are relentlessly kind to each other, in fact it’s an extremely kindly show over all (everyone in it is so nice to everyone else including us) so there’s very little tension. But what it lacks in drive and complexity it makes up for in earnest acts of service and simple affection. These two are basically boyfriends from the get-go, it’s just one of them acts like it and doesn’t realize it and the other one realizes it and has to figure out how to make it a reality. It’s incredibly sweet and incredibly wholesome, nourishing but delicious. Everybody who can should watch this show. It will make you feel better about life. 

Easy 9/10 on this one from me.

Teenager Judge (Vietnam Sat YT) ep 2 of ? - We have some semblance of a plot! Yay! Our BV tsundere character is secretly an online judge who whistleblows and exposes corruption in the school system. How very Pump Up the Volume. I am not mad about it. Also 2 of the prettiest seme bullies EVER. The epic pout-off with these bad boys. Be still my heart.

Our Golden Times (Hong Knong ??? YT) 1-4 of ? - Billed as a BL from Hong Kong I’m not sure we can trust this one to a get finished or be cohesive or have an HEA. But the optics are good. Everybody’s very pretty. It’s chaotic and clumsy and a little odd. But most of the stuff on my dash is these days, so what the hell? And ya know what, I kinda like it.

Love is Like a Poison AKA Doku Koi: Doku mo Sugireba Koi to Naru (Japan Tues Netflix?) 4 of 10 eps - It remains entertaining but off kilter in that way that indicates 50% chance of ultimate dissatisfaction in the JBL pantheon. 

First Note Of Love (Taiwan Mon Gaga) ep 9 of 12 - I wish we knew a little bit more about Sea's background/family. Neil should just tell him what the hell is going on. Why wouldn’t he? Instead they artificially wedged the main couple apart for most of this episode and Orca wasn’t there at all? = Not a good episode IMHO.

It's airing but...

My Damn Business (Korea Sat ????) 7 eps - supposedly airing on Saturdays starting 10/5 have no roleand I found the trailer but nothing else.

The Hidden Moon (Sat WeTV) ep 1 of 10 - This is a supernatural romance (my ghost boyfriend trope) by Violet Rain (I Feel You Linger). A man is hired to write an article about an old mansion in Chiang Mai being converted into a café. He sees the ghosts of people who died at the mansion, falls in love with one of them. Was substantially recast. I loved IFYLITA except the ending so I think I'll let this one run it's course you can tell me if it's work tracking down... if they managed to land it. I have my doubts.

10/10 Eccentric Romance (Korea Thurs Viki & Gaga) 12 eps - Silkwood’s 2nd Thai/Korean colab, that has been in production since 2022 which is a LONG time in the BL world. I'm worried but I like the concept: friends of 10 years who’ve been hiding feelings for each other enter the same university. Plus MURDER.

10/10 Gangster and His Boyfriend (Korea Thurs ????) 8 eps? - Kim Dong Bin (famous trainee & idol reality competitor, yeah that happens) stars as a fallen idol who unexpectedly becomes entangled in a gangster family. Discovers that his friend’s father is responsible for the murder of his entire family years ago. I don't know much about this one, neither does anyone else and I'm not sure where I got that release date so……

10/21 Love in the Big City (Korea ????) 8 eps - Okay both a movie (already out) and a series. Neither one is likely BL and I can't imagine it will end happily. I'm giving both a pass but here's your synopsis.

Cynical fun loving student Young pinballs from home, to class, to on night stands. He and Jaehee, his female besie and roommate, frequent nearby bars where they push away their worries about life, love, and money with soju and hookups.

10/23 See Your Love (Taiwan Gaga Viki) 10 eps? - Zi Xiong, a third-generation heir, attempting to flee from taking over their family business, meets and falls in love with Shao Peng, who works as a hearing-impaired nurse. From the same production house as Kiseki Dear To Me in partnership with Shinehouse Theatre, funded by Taiwan’s BIGART + Japan's Rakuten (Viki). Show includes Lin Chia Yo (Be Loved in House: I Do). Director Chiang Ping Chen’s childhood experiences with his deaf uncle have inspired the drama.

My Dad can beat up your dad

Imagine if Ellie joined the Teen Titans (Cartoon Version)

When Trigon attacks, everybody is freaking out because how are they going to stop him? Raven is a kid, there are no other magic users around, and the Justice League is off world (idk what the canon reason is)

But Ellie is strangely calm

She mentions that her dad may be able to help, or at least be able to hold him back long enough for them to get help

Robin: How is your Dad going to stop THAT!

Ellie: Well, you know how I'm half ghost?

BB: Yeah?

Ellie: Ans you know how that one time the ghost we fought called me "Princess"?

Cyborg: yeah...

Ellie: Well the thing is, they weren't lying. My dad is the King of a Dimension called the Infinite Realms, and while he is young for a King he is still powerful.

So she calls in her dad, who is sporting the classic Ghost King Redesign, and he goes to hold Trigon back as the team comes up with a plan.

I don't like the "Insanely OP Danny" stuff too much, so for this let's just say that Danny can grow in size to be comparable to Trigon, and they have a Giant Kaiju battle in the middle of Jump City. He doesn't win, but he manages to hold on long enough for Raven to finish the Job

Also i really want Danny to start doting on Ellie, like really excited that he gets to meet his daughters friends and all that. He even pulls out some embarrassing Baby Photos from that time Ellie was reverted to her actual age.

Once he hears about Raven being Trigons daughter, he adopts her on the spot.

Raven suddenly has a new Dad, Sister, Brother (reformed dan), Aunt, Grandma and Grandpa (good parents jack and maddie) and maybe a new mom (Sam? Val? 3rd person?)

Basically I just wanted a "Kaiju Danny vs Kaiju Trigon" fight

"My dad has the hots for your dad!"

Amity can only stare as Hunter slams his hands down on the table she is working at. He glares at her with narrow eyes and a mouth pressed firmly into a thin line. The perfect picture of determination and confidence. 

"What. Did you just say?" 

He immediately deflates at her pointed and icy tone. His hands leave her table and fidget with his overalls and hair instead while he squirms from side to side, eyes averted and cheeks blushing. 

"I-uhm. I read that in one of Mama Camila's books. It- well, I mean, it means-" 

Amity cuts him off. "I know what it means. Didn't Camila forbid you from reading them?" 

Them being the small paperbacks with the half naked humans on the front. Usually a woman in distress with a very well built male, rescuing her from certain doom with wet hair and big abs. The first time Camila had caught Hunter reading one of them she'd almost burst a blood vessel and ripped it right out of his hands. 

"Nonononono," she had chanted and hugged a perplexed Hunter to her chest, carding a hand through his hair. "Those books are way too spicy for an innocent, cute boy like you!" 

Hunter huffs and puffs. "I'm an adult. She can't tell me what to read." At Amity's raised eyebrow he mutters "And she didn't find the one hidden under my mattress." 

He shakes his head and takes her shoulders to shake her a little. She allows it, 'cause she can see how agitated he is. "But that's not the point! Darius has… he likes your dad. As in like-like! And we gotta figure out how we feel about that." 

Amity thinks about Darius. The dashing rebel, who had been pulling the strings of an uprising in the shadows from the start. A headstrong abomination user. He would definitely be a big step up from Odalia, that's for sure. 

She imagines Darius as her father's new partner and discovers that she is more than okay with that. 

Amity is not naive. She knows her father needs a headstrong partner at his side, someone who is not afraid to take the reins in a relationship. Not like Odalia, who's taken that to mean that she should micromanage every facet of his life and turn him into someone he is not, but someone who reminds her father to eat and to leave work alone every once in a while. 

"I approve." Amity says and seeing Hunter's desolate expression narrows her eyes. "You got a problem with my dad?" 

"What?" Hunter lets her shoulders go as if they have burned him. "No, of course not! He's super cool! I just… Arrrrrg!" He rapidly runs his hands through his hair. "I just don't know if I can handle a second parental figure!"

"Uhhh."

He starts walking up and down in front of her, Waffles flying after him with happy little trills. "Things with Darius are good right now. He told me to call him Dad and it's… It's yeah, you know? But it's also a bit awkward sometimes, you know? The only father figure I ever had before… Well. And we are still trying to find our rhythm, you know? How am I supposed to deal with another parent right now?"

"Hunter!" Amity has to shout to get him to stop. She can't believe she is having this conversation right now. "Hunter. You do know that you have like, four parental adults in your life. Don't you?" 

He blinks at her and his blank face tells her everything she needs to know. She wants to face-palm so bad right now. "What?" 

Amity starts counting on her hand. "You call Camila Mama Camila." 

"Wha- But that's just-", he splutters. Amity talks right over him. 

"Eda calls you her Fledgling at least once a week and she and Raine are kinda a packaged deal. Grandma and Grandpa Clawthorne call you son so often, I don't even know if they know your real name. Every time Lilith fusses over your scars she mutters 'my poor boy' under her breath. And let's not forget Willow's parents who took one look at you and had the adoption papers ready." Amity looks at her hands, which have barely been enough to count on. "Oh look at that. Not four but eight, actually."

Hunter looks gobsmacked and not a little teary eyed. Amity pats his shoulders, just a little relieved that he has apparently forgotten about their parents budding romance over this new revelation. She'd rather not get involved in that for as long as possible. 

"Face it, Hunter. You are pretty much public son number one at this point."

You know how Tim made up an Uncle and hired an actor to play Him to prevent Bruce from adopting Tim?

Like...what if he just went to a Rest Home/Assisted Living/Home Care place instead and found a Grandparent aged adult to be his Grandma/pa? Especially if said person has Alizhmers and so doesn't realize that Tim isn't their actual family member. He just wanders around until someone calls out to him like they know who he is. Where they think he's their son or grandson and after a few test runs of them constantly thinking he's related to them, he just runs with it.

It's not like the courts will care. If he can fake an Uncle he can definitely fake a relationship to Grandma Edna, (married 6 and a half times so she tells the staff with pride) and Tim's like "Oh yes she's the first wife of Grandpa Drake but we don't talk about their explosive marriage." (Grandma Edna ran with the mob after all. Did those nasty heists) and Grandpa Drake divorced her lickety split once he found out (hence why no one remembers she was a Drake -because she never was-) because she wasn't on the up and up and Grandpa Drake married Grandma Drake soon after for the status and Grandma Drake was the mother of Jack Drake, his father. But Edna's still family you know and Tim can visit without reprecussions now since he's the last Drake. Which is great. Tim is happy. Grandma Edna is happy to see (name changes every time she sees him) and it's all going great!

.... Until Jason catches on.

Until Jason visits the facility where Grandma Edna is while Tim is there.

Until Grandma Edna is like "Oh Mitchy! Look your father is here. Preston dear. You need to bond with your son! Here's some money *pulls out a wad of cash and a switch blade from behind her oxygen tank* He's been missing you something fierce. Go to a ball game okay? Oh! And Stab the umpire for me. He still owes me for the 86th. You tell him that. He'll know what I mean. And buy a chilli dog! Alex is far too skinny! You need to feed him more Victor." And Tim just....has to go along with it.

Because he can't be exposed. He's had Grandma Edna for a year and a half year now and doesn't want to lose her too.

Now if only he can convince Jason that Tim pretending to be Edna's grandson is much better than Bruce having to adopt him out of obligation. He's not Bruce's son after all. Not family. That's for Jason. "See Jason it's fine. I'm not replacing you like this. I have my own family. It's well...it's fake. But she doesn't realize and that's fine. You don't even have to take me anywhere! She won't remember once you leave, just leave. I'll be fine. It's all fi--why in the world are you buying me a chilli dog!?"

AITA for lashing out at my mom?

This is something that happened a while ago (like a couple years) and im moreso just curious what people think.

A little backstory before we get started, I was in high-school during this time and was severely mentally unstable. So unstable that prior to this I had JUST gotten out of the Psyche ward. My mom is notorious for being abusive and neglective, and anyone who knows me well will recognize my mom instantly from this. I also have DID, which can make remembering to do tasks pretty hard. With that out of the way:

I, (17nb), was driving home with my mom (40f) and two sisters (15f) and (16f) from my adoptive dad's house. He isn't important to the story, moreso that we were in the car during this time. I was on my phone which at the time I was punished from but was allowed to have to look at my grades. Because of my frequent hospitalizations (the most recent one had been my 8th) I wasn't doing very well in school on top of my already struggling mental health. (When something reminds me too much of high-school these days I actually pass out.)

I had been working really hard to bring up my grades! They went from straight Fs to Cs in a couple of weeks, and it was very close to the end of the year. I had pulled off what you could honestly call a miracle because if anyone knows the American school system, they know it's INCREDIBLY difficult to raise your grades at the end of the year. I was very excited because of this. I showed my mom the grades because I was so excited, and instead of validating me, she responded "that's great now do better"

I remember it felt like my world went silent, and I remember shouting "why can't you just be proud of me?!" I don't remember a lot of the conversation, but at some point she hit me. She'd hit me a lot in the past, and at this point I was really at my limit and I hit back. This is where I might be tah, because I escalated the fight by hitting back while we were in a moving vehicle, but I did demand she pull over the car shortly after. As soon as she did, I got out the car and ran as far as I could with the thought of going back to my dad's in my mind. However somehow she convinced me to come back and I got in the car. She yelled and berated me a bunch, before calling my grandmother and planning to drop me off with her. She then went back to where we were staying (where her current husband lives) and said husband almost attacked me. Eventually they got my things (some of which he destroyed) and then dropped me at my grandma's house and left me.

At this current point in time, she actually ended up giving up custody of me, and i live with my grandparents nowadays. I'm content here, though I wish I could change some things. Overall, I'm really just curious since my mom paints me as the badguy. Was I the asshole???

Thinking a bit about baseball and how it runs in my family so thoroughly on both sides.

My dad's father was such a good amateur third baseman that he was scouted by the Yankees. We have a letter from the team inviting him to tryouts. But he'd just started a family at the time and the Minor League life is rough, and it was rougher still in the 1950s, so he remained an amateur player who nevertheless had a deep love of the game. He apparently met and played with Willie Mays during the Korean War when he was stationed stateside. He got Mays to etch his name on the strap of his helmet. We still have that, too.

On my mom's side things were entertaining. My mom's grandfather was a New York (later SF) Giants fan. He and his wife had three children, who they raised in the Bronx. The oldest, my grandmother, was a Giants fan like him. The middle child, my great-aunt, decided she had to be different and adopted the Brooklyn Dodgers. The youngest child, my great-uncle, furthered that and became a Yankees fan.

Allegedly, according to my great-aunt, my great-grandfather predicted the Giants, then behind, would win the National League pennant in 1951. She was incredulous because at the time the Dodgers were well in first place. Until they weren't.

This family arrangement continued for a few more years until the Dodgers and Giants left for California in the late 1950s, and the National League members of the family drifted until 1962, when the Mets started playing. My grandmother and great-aunt both picked them up immediately and it's been that way on my mom's side ever since - the people descended from my grandmother and great-aunt are Mets fans, and the people descended from my great-uncle are Yankees fans.

Grandma Dot was a deeply passionate Mets fan and passed that trait to her daughter, who at one point had a huge baseball card collection and knew the Mets's stats better than all the boys in her school. My mom experienced her first World Series win at the age of 10 in 1969 and from there she would be loyal forever. She and my dad were married a few days after the Mets's second World Series win in 1986 and my younger brother and I would be raised on stories of that team during our early years.

Although I get baseball from both sides of my family, the intense passion for National League baseball in New York has been passed down matrilineally, from my grandmother to my mother to me, and I cherish that deeply. I'm the culmination of three generations of baseball-loving women and I think that's actually really cool.

I'm mostly writing this because I don't quite want to let this Mets team go yet. They were so much fun this year and I already miss them so much, and they took us so much farther than anyone expected. 2024 wasn't our year, but it was one hell of a year and I love this cast of characters a lot.

This World Series would have divided my grandmother's family in the 1950s. Not so much today, since the Mets aren't there, but the Dodgers and Yankees haven't played in the WS against each other since 1981, and before their move to LA the Dodgers and Yankees met a few times in the 1950s. I wonder what my grandmother's siblings talked about, or if they trash talked each other, or if they gathered around the radio together for the play by play.

I just love how much this sport is literally in my blood.

I don’t think she was full on related to her, so I’m just going with Jigen adopts Oto and thinks of Chiharu as her grandma in this fic. You had been working at the same school for some time now, and while there were some challenges to working with young children, you loved your job anyway. There were of course a few times when the teachers would start some drama, but overall things had been going pretty smoothly. 

Your morning routine was the same as always: you made yourself breakfast, quickly looked over your lesson plans, and made your way to the school. Even your day teaching your class was pretty typical. It wasn’t until the final bell of the day rang when things would be a little different.

You heard your voice over the intercom being called telling you to report to the principal’s office. You were hoping it wasn’t anything serious as you made your way to her office. When you got there, she was sitting at her desk as usual, but sitting across from her were a guy with a beard and a hat and a little girl.

The principal introduces them to you. The man’s name was Daisuke Jigen and the girl’s name was Oto. You had learned that he adopted her after an evil crime syndicate killed her parents and kidnapped her. After he successfully took down their leader and saved her, the authorities took notice. He apparently used to be a thief alongside the infamous Lupin the Third, but after defeating the group the police had been trying to track down for years, the government decided to pardon him of all his crimes if he agreed never to return to that line of work again. Later on, he would reveal to you that he felt it was about time he retired from that lifestyle anyway.

You wondered how a criminal of all people would actually end up helping to catch other criminals and even end up taking care of a little girl, but you were just glad that it meant that there were still good people in the world and that a child was safe. 

After the principal was done explaining their situation, she had asked if you could take her into your classroom. She let you know that Oto would need to step out of the classroom a few times a week to see a speech therapist and a counselor since she had selective mutism and PTSD, and if she needed additional help, they felt you of all the teachers would be able to provide it. You didn’t hesitate to sign all the paperwork to have her be placed in your class.

Neither Jigen nor Oto talked the entire time, but before you left, you had a chance to hear their voices for the first time.

“Thank you. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.” He turns to Oto who’s hiding behind a pillow and sweetly asks, “what do we say?”

“Thank you,” she says in a whisper.

So much warmth for a guy who used to be a criminal that it was hard to believe he ever was one.

Over the course of the next few months, you found that it was difficult for Oto to interact with the other students. She would spend most of the time at her desk and instead of going to recess, she would always come into your classroom and spend her time reading in the little corner library of your classroom. You tried talking to her in the beginning but she reacted the same as when other students tried talking with her: you were met with silence. 

The reason she didn’t like going to recess was because of a group of girls that would make fun of her for her silence. You tried talking to them but they wouldn’t listen. That’s when you offered to let her come into your classroom instead. You wished that the other students were more understanding and that you didn’t have to feel the need to shelter her like that, but you told yourself this would have to do until you and the counselors figured out a way for her to break out of her shell. 

One night, you decided to watch a movie you’ve never seen before. In the movie, there was a little girl who also had trouble communicating with her peers. She would spend a lot of time drawing which was her outlet to convey how she felt. Although the reason the girl in the movie began to talk more was because she helped the ghosts that would steal all her attention take revenge on the guy who took their lives away, it still gave you an idea on how to catch a glimpse on what Oto was feeling. 

The next day during recess time, Oto came in to sit at her usual spot. You had just finished setting up the new art station in your room. It wasn’t much but it did have plenty of paper, crayons, colored pencils, and paints you got from the art teacher who happened to have extra supplies on hand. You figured that even if Oto didn’t use it, maybe some of the other students would when they had their 30 minutes of free time at the end of the day. 

“Hey, Oto. Hope you’ve had a good day so far. Just so you know, you can come and draw over there in case you want a break from reading. And as always, please let me know if you need anything.” You didn’t want to force her to draw something of course, so you hoped the suggestion was enough to gain her interest.

It looked like she wasn’t interested at all for the next few minutes. Her eyes were seemingly glued to the pages of her book, but eventually you noticed that she began to look over at the little desk equipped with the art supplies. You tried to focus on your paperwork so she wouldn’t feel uncomfortable with you staring at her, but when she put her book down and walked over to the art station, you couldn’t help but feel relieved that you might’ve found a way to finally get through to her.

Sure enough, she began to express her feelings and inner worries in her drawings without her having to say a word. She initially depicted some pretty dark and sad themes in her work, but over time, the number of happier drawings far outnumbered them. You noticed that she drew pictures of her, her grandmother Chiharu, and her father a lot. It was also incredible just how much you learned about her and her family from the pictures alone. 

She drew every day during recess time instead of reading now, and she drew so much that she learned how to draw many different things. Some of the other kids were so impressed by her work that they would ask her to draw things for them. This helped her warm up to them and helped her finally be comfortable enough to speak to you and her classmates. She still couldn’t talk to anyone outside of her family, you, or her class, but you were just happy that she was making progress.

A few more months passed and it was time for parent-teacher conferences. All parents were required to attend, so if they couldn’t make it, they were allowed to reschedule for a different day. You didn’t get any calls from any parents thus far, so you were hopeful that it meant you would see everyone’s parents today. 

Because Oto was the newest student to join the class, the computer system had her name at the very bottom of the roster. That kind of sucked for you since a meeting with her dad made you the most nervous not so much because he used to be a criminal, but because you were hoping that he approved of the way you were teaching her. You didn’t exactly know what kind of person he was yet but from your first impression of him and the way Oto described him both in drawings and in conversation, you hoped that he wouldn’t give you trouble like some parents have in the past.

It was almost ten minutes past Mr. Jigen’s scheduled time when he finally arrived. You were worried he wasn’t going to show up for a second, but were glad that he was there even if it was a little late.

“Um, hello. Sorry. I’m still trying to learn how to navigate this part of town and my stupid GPS stopped working in the middle of my drive here.”

“Oh, no worries. I don’t have to clock out for another hour and a half, so you’re still on time. Please have a seat.” You point to the chair in front of your desk and he takes off his hat as he sits down.

“Thank you, and sorry, I smell like cigarette smoke. I’m trying to quit but I’m kind of nervous to be completely honest with you.”

“You’re good. From what I understand, you adopted Oto pretty suddenly, no? I don’t have children but I can’t imagine what it must be like to be a new parent. And especially after everything you, and Oto have been through, it must be tough. She’s told me so much about what happened.”

“Wait, she talks to you?”

“Has she not told you? She’s started speaking to me and some of the other students. Well, it first started out with her drawing things but once she became comfortable around me and the other students, she’s been telling me about all sorts of things.”

“I see, so you’re the one who got her drawing pictures.” he chuckles. “Is that also how you got her talking to you all?”

“Yup. It’s only me and the students in this class, though. I think it will take a little longer for her to feel at ease talking to someone she’s never met.”

“You’re a miracle worker, you know that?”

“Huh?”

“I’ve been trying to get her to say more than one word to anyone other than me and her grandmother. Is it really all from the drawing?”

“Well no, not entirely. The whole reason I suggested doing some art to her was so that she could have a way of expressing herself and for me to get to know her a little more. The majority of it came from the other students warming up to her. I think a lot of them thought she was a bit odd at first due to her quietness, but when the other students started asking her to draw stuff for them, they realized just how amazing she really was. Time was also a big factor, perhaps because she’s gotten used to and is more familiar in this new environment. And I understand, after all that she went through, it must be tough to trust anyone.”

“And yet, you somehow managed to get her to trust you all. I really can’t thank you enough.”

“Oh, it’s nothing. I just want the best for my students.”

“No, really. I- I sometimes feel like I’m not doing enough to help her, or that someone like me doesn’t deserve to be a parent, you know? What does an ex-thief and gunman know about taking care of a child anyway? Sure, I have help from Chiharu sometimes but she’s already done so much for me and I feel like I need to repay her in some way.” He sighs and rubs the bridge of his nose. “I’m sorry, I know we’re here to talk about her grades. I just… I want a bit of guidance on how to take care of a little girl who’s been through things no other little girl should have to go through. You don’t have to, but since you’re a teacher and already helped Oto a lot in such a short time, I’m not sure if it would be too much to ask if you could tell me how you approach things with her?”

You were slightly taken aback by the contrast between his appearance and past to the love and concern he had for his child. He had a gruff voice, a thick beard, hair that nearly covered his eyes, scars all over his hands and neck, and yet, his eyes were soft. Just who was this man and what had happened that allowed him to open up his heart? 

You had to put your curiosity off to the side for now and proceeded with the meeting. You gave him suggestions and discussed Oto’s strengths and opportunities to grow. You also agreed to meet with him once a month to update him on her progress and help him learn how to communicate with her better.

At this moment, he was just another parent of one of your many students that you had to maintain a professional relationship with, but little did you know, that would not be the case in the foreseeable future. For now though, it just made your heart happy to know that you were helping out a family and that a young girl who suffered so much was now able to live in a home with a loving new father.

I... did thought of and angsty little moment of G!P Clarke and pregnant Lexa letting her know that the baby is not hers... but we are NOT going down that path... this is still a little angsty but not too much.

This entire universe is planned out ln my head but as a fic I've only ever imagined small scenes (and posted some) but can't seem to settle down on a way to write it. One heavy thing about this story is that Lexa deals with depression, anxiety, and both a sleeping and an eating disorder bc of her job, and it actually takes a while for her to get out of the environment causing it and even longer to heal from it all. One random fact about this universe though is that Lexa adopts a dog. I imagine she does the buzzfee puppy interview and there's this one little guy that consistently pushed her or jumps at her before drifting away and coming back again. She's like a month and a half away from finishing her contact with her current oppressing (homofobic) label, and she just needs to take him home with her.

"I'm gonna have to take you home. And that's not good budy. Nono, I'm a busy woman. Im gonna have to call my dad and you and I are gonna be in trouble" is what she keeps telling the dog while the cameras still roll.

She ends up naming him krasha (wave in trigedasleng (or at least that's what i remember it meant))

At this point on the timeline, her and Clarke have been dating for two and a half years, privately and secret to the public eye. When she goes to Clarke's and introduces Krasha and her plan to have her dad baby(doggy?)sit until she's done with work, she keeps trying to say it can be their dog and Clarke keeps making sure Lexa knows it's her dog. Not a malicious way, not mean or afraid of commitment, just reminding her that it was her decision and thus her son. (I used to have a fake twitter thread of them earlier that same year joking that they would get a dog, but i can't find it now, it even involves their mothers saying they were to young to be grandmas)

Clarke keeps going with little jokes like "your dog peed inside" or "your dog kept me up all night howling at nothing" (she was the one who thought him how to howl but she changes the subject every time is bought up)

Is years down the line, on a random bad day for Lexa that Clarke tells her she can take care of Krasha while she takes her of herself that Lexa snaps a little, Clarke didn't call krasha hers or implied it really, but Lexa is upset and she needs a distraction.

"He's not yours, Clarke. Isn't that what you're always saying?" She sounds more defeated than she would like, and it all takes Clarke by surprise, she paused, unsure of where the conversation is going.

"I am perfectly capable of taking care of my dog" Lexa continues "He's not yours Clarke, so don't worry, ill figure it out"

"Hey. Okay, wait" Clarke shakes her head with a little frown and her eyes closed, catching up on Lexa's mood, and knowing exactly how to handle the situation.

"First of all, I never said you weren't capable, neither was i complaining about taking care of him, i was offering. Second, i am aware he's not mine, but you are my girlfriend, taking care of you is my thing, one i do happily. Okay?" Clenched jaw and hardening eyes stared at her, but ultimately Lexa nodded.

"Now, krasha being yours and not ours or mine has never been about me not wanting him, Lex. I love the little shit so much and i have since the moment you got him. And I love even more what he represents to you and your healing process" at this Lexa's eyes soften a little, a pause, a willingness to understand what Clarke is telling her.

"The decision you made? When you adopted him? That was the first time since you signed the contract with flamekeepers that you made a decision all on your own and all for yourself. You weren't thinking about me when you picked him, you weren't thinking about what anyone would tell you, you wanted him and you got him. Lexa krasha was the first step into your freedom from the dickhead of your manager, he was the first selfish decision you took since telling me the truth about the closeting, since we first kissed. The fact that it was all you was so important to me, for you to see, for you to own it. For him to be yours and solely yours." Tears began streaming down Lexa's cheeks and Clarke calmly wiped them away, unbothered by the show of emotions, and satisfied that Lexa understands.

"I'm sorry if it even came across differently, and I'm sorry I've never said it before"

I've done some research for how i imagine him and I've come down to say he's a husky and German shepherd and pitbull/boxer/bulldog (some smaller dog) mix, i don't think I'll ever truly specify it bc i actually down know if the pictures i have match too well BUT the point is that when he eventually grows up, he's not too big, but has that beautiful face of a husky AND a German shepherd (and the terrible need to howls all the time).

Sure, she could simply be adopted, but i remember the first time i saw her grandma, back when Descendants premiered (holy sh*t, i just realised it has been TEN FREAKING YEARS 😱), and i thought... "Girl, where's the melanin? WHERE'S THE TEXTURED HAIR?!" 😂

Definitely! I know it bugs me when I see POC characters stripped of their features in fanart, so I knew wanted to nod to Audrey/Sarah Jeffrey's ethnicity, even if that series is my personal interpretation of the characters' looks (like they're definitely not modelled to look like the likeness of the actors)

WIP game! HOW TO KILL YOUR DRAGON!!

Ooh, another ask for this.

Refer to the first part, otherwise this post may not make a lot of sense.

Dragon Stephen actually ends up adopting two orphaned human kids along the way, who are none other than Peter and America. He has a pet (wild)cat who he calls Levi cause she can make impressive jumps, looking like she's levitating on air. His pack's head is The Ancient One, who is an Omega, and this is super unconventional from normal society because normally, Alphas are the head of a pack.

You can probably tell that I'm leaning on the whole Omega Empowerment with this fic.

Bonus: Stephen thinks he's so damn good at hiding the fact that he's a dragon, but in reality everyone and their grandmas know of his identity as a dragon XD (ok not really, it's a maybe thing rn, like I haven't fully decided if I want the entire Kamar-Taj village to know his identity or just his pack).

By some luck, nobody would notice that he’d been gone the entire evening.

Levi meowed loudly, and Tony turned to see that the cat was waiting for him, expecting him to still follow.

“Yes, thank you for leading me back to the village.” He couldn’t believe he was thanking a cat. “I know my way from here.” He wiggled his hands in a shooing gesture towards the cat. “Now go and do.. whatever it is that cats do at night.”

Levi meowed again, decidedly not moving.

Tony sighed. She wasn’t even leading him towards his guest house anymore. “Where are you taking me?” He grumbled but followed her anyway. She had safely led him through a dangerous forest. Surely all of that wasn’t just to lure him into some cult ritual of cats to sacrifice him or something.

The cat’s steps quickened, and Tony sped his own steps to keep up with her. She took a turn by a house. He followed, turning—

And almost collided with a tall figure that stood there.

Tony blinked up at the blue eyes that were glaring down at him with hands crossed. Ah, the hot Healer.

“What were you thinking,” Strange snapped harshly, making Tony flinch a little, “Going into the forest all by yourself at night!?”

“First off, I never went into the forest, second off, I didn’t go there at night.”

“Right,” Strange said dryly. “And that’s why you have a beast claw mark leaking blood into your sleeve.”

Tony looked down at the sleeve in question.

Well, shit. He should’ve probably taken care of that first.

“It wasn’t a beast,” Tony automatically said. “It was.. It was your cat!” He pointed a finger at Levi who had jumped up a tree by now. “She’s got terrible manners. I wonder who she takes after.”

Strange rolled his eyes. “Please. Falsely accusing my cat? She doesn’t even have such large claws. Very unbecoming of you to make false accusations, Your Highness.” He turned around. “Unless you want to soil more clothes, I suggest you come with me.”

Well, Tony had few options at this point.

He followed the Healer into the house.

“Shirt off,” Strange ordered as he fetched some medical supplies.

Tony raised an eyebrow dramatically. “Whoa there, trying to seduce your Prince, witchdoctor?”

In response, Strange threw a rag on his face. “Clean the excess blood.”

Tony huffed and did as he was instructed.

Once some of the blood had been wiped, Strange sat down next to him and summoned magical sutures, stitching his skin back together with the warm orange light that felt soothing on his skin.

It was also the first time Tony had had a close look at the Healer’s hands. There were.. lines. Lines of magic, faintly glowing light blue. They looked like scars, though they weren’t visible like this unless glowing with.. whatever magic thing the Healer did. Tony wasn’t sure if the scar-lines were visible because of the magic, or if the magic was used as a way to hid them.

His eyes traced up the Healer’s face.

The eyes looked a little green in the dim light. They were fully-focused on one task that was fixing Tony’s arm. The candles cast light on his face in just the right way to make his cheekbones even more prominent.

Tony had to admit, he was really pretty. Not only that, he was a reputed Healer.

His eyes automatically fell on the Healer’s neck, searching for a bond mark. There was none, of course. The Healer’s scent itself gave away that he was unbonded.

Whoever managed to win this Omega would be a very fortunate person.

Tony blinked when he saw a.. mark — a scar — on Strange’s throat, a clean line slicing right over the jugular.

“Who did that to you?” Tony asked before he had realized, his unwounded hand coming up to hover near Strange’s neck.

Strange flinched away, then stood up, putting distance between them. He quickly realized his mistake and tired to cover it up like he was reaching for something on the shelves.

“None of your business,” he said sharply.

Touchy subject, huh?

Tony probably shouldn’t bring it up again.

He turned towards the window that looked out at the mountains, and his mind wandered to the Dragon whose throat he had managed to slice. He’d been so sure that it would be enough to kill it. He should have sliced its head clean off when he’d had the chance.

Maybe if he had, his mother would still be here.

Okay, a few years ago, my mind played with some crazy and unique ways to explore or rewrite H2O characters (at most: Lyla being Dr. Denman's adoptive daughter and healthily researching mermaid magic.)

But I've cooled down over the years and settled on a few that make sense (Charlotte being a mermaid again under dubious circumstances - being one of them and Kim actually being smart and figuring out the Secret using photocopies of Cleo's diary before it was destroyed).

Or maybe I'm not above writing stories with second chances, but not without taking liberties such as avoiding dumbing someone down or giving credit where it's due.

So, I had this idea for a story I attempted but didn't quite publish. The context: What if Charlotte, Miriam, and Sophie were mermaids?

Considering I go back and forth between Reddit and Tumblr, I was surprised (and not) by the Antis and the ones willing to indulge in the characters - I ended up joining in too. But this idea was me really pushing the envelope, so to speak, and thinking outside the box. And another thing, I'm kind of not afraid to go into mature themes that exist in real life.

So why these three? Because everyone hates them, and the exact challenge of making them worth reading about is what I strive for. And since I do believe being in the Moon Pool alone is why Charlotte got three powers, then making her part of a group & dividing said powers avoids some problems.

Charlotte is the easiest of the three, she deserved better in character development and writing (and I'm not above laying blame on the girls for creating her antagonism, to begin with). If H2O had started off with the story of a girl finding out her grandma was a mermaid, it would have felt fitting as it would involve her meeting Louise and doing the supposed job of tying both generations of mermaids together. Essentially doing what S2 chose not to due when introducing a former mermaid having left a legacy behind. On that note, Charlotte is Cleo's foil, so she does get Hydrokinesis.

Miriam is...so fascinating! Between her and Sophie, it's so easy to imagine Miriam disliking having a tail to begin with. At best, she's unilaterally Emma and Rikki's foil (everything Emma's not and Rikki hates). With the Mean Girl/Ice Queen persona she had going on, I'm not too against the trope of her using being a mermaid for popularity but I imagine having Charlotte involved means the worst gets curbed. However, I do imagine the "One Drop" policy getting old pretty fast, and sick of it as well. It was actually pretty difficult (and felt generic), but in the end - I settled for Miriam getting Hydro-cryokinesis.

Sophie, Sophie, Sophie...Not gonna lie, getting the one who destroyed the moon pool for financial gain (and more of a villain than the other two) was when I knew I had my hands full! Not to mention, she's an ADULT! Not an elderly or a parent - an adult with bills to pay and a brother to take care of. And that's where I feel her arc should be (adulting and a caregiver who now has to deal with a tail). But because I don't mind taking liberties, I traced her actress back to her previous role (Rachel Samuels of Blue Water High) and that's where things came together! Overall, she does have hints of Emma but could be more dangerous than Rikki. So hydro-thermokinesis for her.

There's so much to this dynamic of the 2000s mermaids not being like anyone expected and the potential. Charlotte is the first to embrace being a mermaid while Miriam fights it every second she can (Sophie being between the two). Given what happened in Red Herring, I'm particularly fond of the idea both Miriam and Sophie have dyes in their hair and the transformation reveals their natural brunette and blonde tones. As an anti of Will Benjamin and his behavior with Bella in canon, perhaps exposure and learning how NOT to treat a mermaid from the source could go a long way. I'm definitely LIVING for Louise adoring Charlotte yet meeting Miriam and Sophie and having difficulty adjusting to someone like them being mermaids & far removed from what she, Gracie, and Julia were. How Zane fits into this as without Rikki, Miriam's all that ties him to her. Sophie's past and why teenage drama dictates Miriam be such a bitch (as well as whether Tiffany has a place in her life). Or better yet, Lewis was the researcher, so is he obsolete from this AU or can he be brought in? Does Miriam have an Elsa episode where she freezes everything?

I can't promise Linda Denman or other likes in canon, but like lightning - some things don't happen twice without reason.

But main question: Why would these three meet? Charlotte and Miriam make sense, Charlotte moving a year early isn't hard to do as well as placing Miriam with Zane & Nate and having her steal the spark plug. Given the lack of background on their folks, Sophie and Will moving to Queensland is easy to arrange with the right backstory. So in the end, it all goes straight to the beginning - the Pilot.

(And where are the original girls? Given the effect this AU would cause, a lot gets undone. Cleo and Emma were already friends, just not likely to meet Rikki - whose actions triggered the events of canon to begin with! So at best, side characters who interact but don't influence the narrative as much...possibly.)
