everytime i’m faced with wild overt misogyny that’s just platformed like it’s nothing i remind myself that people don’t actually have to feel this way about women. men are fully capable of treating women like human beings and viewing them as such. “but socialization but male fantasies but patriatchy speaks through us even when we don’t recognize it” sure but actually regardless there exist men who are fundamentally not raging misogynists and they generally seem happier and better adjusted. misogyny to me isn’t disappointing because “oh i can’t believe Men, as an essentialized category of person, are like this” it’s disappointing because people make the choice to be like this. “it’s my biological imperative as a man to dominate you” okay well it’s my biological imperative as a freaky bitch to dominate you so what now. what biological imperative is making you comment “onlyfans detected opinion rejected” on every picture of any attractive woman. i think i will always be understood by most people as a woman and i’m learning to accept that and trying to like it but misogyny makes me feel very trapped of course. but misogyny is a choice. which means some people make the choice to be misogynistic which is profoundly frustrating. but many other people choose not to be actively misogynistic and i believe anyone could choose not to be actively misogynistic if they wanted. so it’s a whole thing

So sick and tired of other peoples notions about what constitutes a platonic or romantic relationship dictating the level of closeness I can have with other people. Not even talking about physical closeness… like even just the degree to which I hang out with someone, or how I behave around them has been enough for people around me to insist I’m “acting like a couple” with someone and just push that narrative on me absolutely constantly despite me being in a pretty long term relationship with someone else. It’s absolutely infuriating because having that narrative projected onto me and thus having to avoid it and reject it constantly puts up so many barriers to my ability to form close connections with people and strong friendships. I just want to be able to connect with people in the way that feels natural and comfortable for me without being constantly questioned about my intentions or having to question my own intentions because of what other people are projecting onto me. I know what is platonic and what is romantic to me, even when to other people that line looks blurry. I wish people would just listen to me and let me be.

When I say that syscourse is “petty meaningless shit,” it’s because the majority of syscourse isn’t productive. The majority of *the tag* is filled with people flinging hatred at each other with nothing productive — and most posts complaining about this are nothing more than the same. It’s putting all those who dare to associate with the filthy sysmeds(!!!) as somehow not caring or taking the lives of endogenic systems seriously.

You don’t have to be friends with those of us who try to see beyond something like a syscourse label. Nobody is forcing you to. But people like me are begging others to understand that anti-endo isn’t a label that inherently means they don’t believe endogenic systems exist; it’s a label that is so misunderstood and misused at this point that it has lost meaning. The same has occurred with pro-endo. This is because people are making these labels some sort of moral statement instead of what they originally were. And most discourse labels fall into this territory.

Genuinely, your trauma matters. This discourse clearly impacts people —I’m certainly not going to say it doesn’t, as someone who has been incredibly hurt in syscourse spaces. But many of you also have to gain the perspective that there are people out there, real life people, who don’t even know the word “endogenic.” There is an entire real world out there that doesn’t know what a systemscringe is or why it matters. Is that somehow morally wrong for them to not care? Is it somehow morally wrong for me to care more about my DID and surviving it than I do about shitty assholes’ opinions on Reddit? I deal with real visceral to-my-face-hatered in real life; I don’t have time to mountain the mole-hill that is a fakeclaiming subreddit.
