pt25
The three men sat around the table in Zuko’s room, drinking tea and swapping stories. Even though he had heard them a million times before, Zuko asked his friends to recount their adventures with (Y/N), before the two had reconciled. It made him happy to know that she had been taken care of in his absence.
(Y/N) couldn’t contain her nerves. Every inch of her body felt alive, like electricity flowed through her veins. This electricity translated into not being able to sit still, which greatly annoyed the servants that were helping her get ready. She kept having to get up and walk around to stretch her legs, or take a quick trip outside to get some fresh air.
Katara eyed her as (Y/N’s) foot tapped against the marble floors of her bedroom. She had barely spoken all morning, which was very unlike her dear friend. Toph coughed from her spot on (Y/N’s) bed.
“Could you stop doing that?” Toph asked. “I can barely see with all the movement you’re making.” (Y/N) halted her foot immediately.
“Sorry, Toph,” She muttered. She looked down at her hands, which still shook, but she clenched her fists to get them to stop.
“It’s going to be okay,” Katara said, placing her hand atop (Y/N’s). She stared into her friend’s eyes. Katara was always honest, especially with her. (Y/N) let out a small chuckle.
“I don’t know why I’m so jittery,” she admitted. “It’s not like I haven’t known this day would come for the past year.”
It had been almost exactly one year since Zuko had proposed to her on her birthday. She remembered grabbing him by the arms and asking him if he was sure that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. “I’ve never been more sure of anything,” He had said, and the biggest smile appeared on her face as she accepted his offer. He had slid an engagement ring on her finger almost immediately. “I’d been planning on doing this since the first day I saw you after my banishment.”
“Even though I was fighting against you?” Zuko nodded, his eyes crinkling from his own smile.
She stared at the ring now. It never failed to take her breath away. He had it made especially for her. Traditionally, a Fire Lord would propose with his mother’s engagement ring, but Zuko thought that would be a bad omen on their marriage considering how things ended with his parents.
“You’re excited,” Suki said, leaning back into her seat. She and Katara were also being pampered by the servants. They scrubbed at her nails and feet and combed her long brown hair. Toph had opted out of a beauty treatment, considering how she had thrown a woman through a wall the last time someone touched her feet in Ba Sing Se.
“There’s going to be so many people there,” (Y/N) mumbled. Growing up as Fire Nation nobility, she had always been around large crowds of people, but that didn’t mean she liked it. She like to keep her circle small and if it were up to her, she would have had the smallest wedding possible. Maybe Momo as the officiant. But Zuko was the Fire Lord, and with that title came certain expectations. The people of the Fire Nation were invited to watch the ceremony. From what (Y/N) had heard, it was something they all looked forward to, so who was she to deny them of that?
“We’ll be there too,” Katara assured her. “Besides, you only have to focus on one person.” (Y/N) felt butterflies flutter in her stomach. She and Zuko hadn’t been able to see each other at all that day. It was customary for the bride and groom not to see each other until the ceremony, but (Y/N) hated it. She couldn’t run to the one person who gave her comfort and it annoyed her endlessly.
“What kind of food will we have later?” Toph asked. “I’m starving.”
“I can ask the servants to bring you something,” (Y/N) said to her friend. Toph rubbed her hands together as she listed everything she wanted to eat in that moment.
Zuko was in his room on the other side of the castle, with Aang and Sokka. Both had agreed happily to being groomsmen, but Zuko extended the special invitation of best man to Aang. They had been through so much together and they had both changed for the better. If it weren’t for Aang, Zuko might never have reunited with (Y/N) again. Aang graciously accepted his offer. Momo and Appa had been given the titles of honorary groomsmen, but they wouldn’t fit at the altar with the rest of them.
The three men sat around the table in Zuko’s room, drinking tea and swapping stories. Even though he had heard them a million times before, Zuko asked his friends to recount their adventures with (Y/N), before the two had reconciled. It made him happy to know that she had been taken care of in his absence.
“She took care of herself,” Aang said with a laugh. “It was hilarious seeing an enemy’s face once they realized we had a firebender with us.”
“Especially when we were fighting against the Fire Nation,” Sokka chimed in. “You guys were all ‘Who? What?’ and (Y/N) was all ‘Boom, Bang! Fire blast!’“
“She is a strong fighter.” The guys turned to see Iroh standing at the doorway. Zuko stood and smiled, bowing to his uncle.
“I’m so happy you could come,” He said as they hugged. Iroh squeezed him tightly.
“As if I would miss my own nephew’s wedding! The tea shop is busy, but never too busy for you.” Iroh took a seat at the table. “So, have you prepared your vows?”
Zuko’s face paled. “Vows? Vows? No one told me I had to do vows!” He began pacing around the room, scrambling for a piece of paper and a brush.
“Zuko, it’s fine!” Aang assured him. “Just speak from your heart!”
“It took me years to tell her that I loved her and you want me to speak from the heart?” Zuko was spiraling. How could he have forgotten about the vows? He had made sure that everything else was in line except the one thing that he actually needed to do. (Y/N) would be absolutely mortified is she recited her vows to him and he didn’t have any to say back! What kind of husband would he be if he couldn’t prepare vows?
“We only have an hour before the wedding,” Sokka said, pulling Zuko back over to the table and making him take a seat. “So we all need to brainstorm. All of us know (Y/N) and Zuko pretty well. We’ll just give you ideas of what to say and then we’ll write them down!”
Zuko nodded. “Okay, that sounds good.”
Silence fell over the table as they all thought of what Zuko could say for his vows. Each man stared at each other, waiting for someone to speak up. Finally, Iroh spoke:
“Tell her that she is as lovely as freshly brewed tea.”
Zuko sunk into his seat and groaned. This would be a long hour.
In (Y/N’s) room, she and her friends were putting on their dresses. In the Fire Nation, all women wore different variations of white and red to weddings. The bride’s dress was supposed to be the most elegant, so that she would be set apart from the other attendees. Her hair was placed in an intricate updo, with the traditional royal family crown placed on top.
(Y/N) stared at herself in the mirror. She could barely recognize herself, but she felt beautiful. “I look like a princess,” She said to her friends.
“Like a queen.” Ursa stood in the doorway, smiling softly at her future daughter-in-law. (Y/N) smiled widely, running over to embrace her.
“I’m so happy you’re here!” She pulled away from Ursa, her smile faltering just a bit. “Did you...?”
After announcing the engagement to Ursa, she had asked (Y/N) privately if there was anything that she could do to help prepare for the wedding. She had only one request: locating her own mother to see if she would attend the wedding.
(Y/N) and her mother had had their ups and downs throughout her life, but after their moment in her jail cell, she really began to miss her. It was obvious that her mother was under her father’s thumb and had no way of escaping. And while she loved Zuko’s family like her own, the idea of not having members of her family present at her wedding saddened her.
Ursa smiled, stepping to the side to allow (Y/N’s) mother to enter the room. It had been years since they had last seen each other, but the signs of aging were lost on her mother’s beautiful face. Much to (Y/N’s) surprise, her mother’s eyes watered as soon as she saw her.
“You look so beautiful,” She whispered, embracing her daughter in a hug. (Y/N) gripped onto her for dear life. She felt a wave of relief wash over her as her mother held her.
“I’m so happy you could come,” (Y/N) said with a smile. She turned back to her friends. “These are my friends! Katara, Suki, and Toph.”
“You raised a wonderful daughter,” Katara said, but her mother shook her head.
“She did that all by herself.”
“Can you stay for the ceremony?” Her mother’s eyes quickly turned sad.
“Your father forbade me from attending. I had to sneak away just to come here with Ursa.”
“Why would he do that?” Suki asked. (Y/N) sighed.
“Because he disowned me. As far as he sees it, I’m not their child anymore. But Mother, I’m marrying Zuko. You know that if there’s anything you need--” Her mother held up a hand to silence her.
“I am being taken care of, my dear, and you are as well. That is all I could ask for.”
“You’re going to let your stupid husband keep you two apart?” Toph asked. She was always far more blunt than the rest of them.
“It’s complicated,” (Y/N) said quietly, before her mother could say it. “I understand. I suppose he can’t forbid you from coming to a royal summons?” Her mother smiled.
“No, he cannot.” She hugged her daughter tightly. “I love you, and I am so proud of you.”
(Y/N) felt her tears swell, but she forced them down so she wouldn’t ruin her makeup. Ursa led her mother out.
“Are you okay?” Katara asked. (Y/N) nodded.
“She said she loved me and she was proud of me. And I know I don’t need her approval to know that I’ve been doing the right things but...” She took a deep breath. “It still meant a lot.”
Her friends smiled and wrapped her into a big hug. It took Toph a little bit to join, but once she did, they squeezed her tightly. Despite everything, (Y/N) missed her parents a lot. But she knew she had been given an even better family in her friends.
Zuko, Iroh, Aang, and Sokka, had used every minute available to complete Zuko’s wedding vows. It took a lot of trial and error, but Zuko figured they were as good as they were going to get. “Remember,” Aang whispered as they walked to the altar. “If all else fails, speak from the heart.”
Zuko stood at the top of the steps of the palace courtyard, Sokka and Aang standing a step below him. Momo stood at Sokka’s feet at the bottom of the steps. No one was really quite sure how he had acquired a bowtie, but they decided not to question it.
Iroh stood beside Zuko. He and (Y/N) had asked if he could officiate their wedding, and he had graciously accepted. He smiled gently at his nephew before leaning close. “From the time you were small, I could tell that your souls were intertwined. You loved each other in a past life and will love each other in the next. Congratulations, my nephew.”
Zuko smiled at his uncle. His comment made him emotional, but he was trying not to think about it. The idea that he and (Y/N) would always be perfect for each other made his heart swell the biggest it had ever been.
Toph was the first to walk out, guided by Suki. She stood across from Momo while Suki stood across from Katara. Toph raised an eyebrow. “Why’s Momo with the groomsmen?” Suki shushed her as Katara walked out, taking her place across from Aang. They smiled at each other.
“I can’t wait to marry you,” Aang mouthed to Katara, which caused her to blush.
Finally, (Y/N) exited the palace, the long train of her dress flowing behind her. She kept her head down so that she wouldn’t trip, and only looked up when she took her place beside Katara, across from Zuko. When her eyes met his, all of her fear and worry melted away. She smiled at him.
Zuko couldn’t help the few tears escape from his eyes as he stared at (Y/N). She looked absolutely beautiful in her wedding dress. The sheer realization that this was actually happening, that after everything they had been through together and apart, was enough to make him cry.
She reached out and wiped away his tears, her own sliding down her cheeks. They held each other’s hands as Iroh began the ceremony. (Y/N) felt like every word that Iroh was saying went in one ear and out the other. All she could focus on was Zuko.
When it came time for vows, (Y/N) cleared her throat. She had spent weeks memorizing her vows with Katara, to the point where she had them down perfectly. Her only worry was that her emotion would get the best of her as she recited them.
“I wrote and rewrote these vows a thousand times. What can you say to the person who means the world to you? No matter how hard I tried to shake you and shove down how I felt about you, you always came back to remind me how much I loved you. I loved you every single time that we fought against each other and I loved you every time that we fought with each other. I’m not big into the spiritual stuff, as you know, but a very wise old man once said that you and I were connected by an indestructible thread. No matter how hard either of us tried to cut it, it would never break. And I think that’s true, because no matter where I went, I always found you again.” She inhaled a shaky breath. “You are my sun, moon, and stars. You are everything I ever wanted out of life and more. I love you, Zuko, even more than I love the palace’s fruit tarts.”
When she finished, Zuko couldn’t help but press his lips to hers. (Y/N) giggled into the kiss before softly pushing him away. “You weren’t supposed to do that yet.”
“I don’t care,” Zuko said with a smile.
He pulled his piece of paper out of his pocket and inhaled a deep breath. He only hoped that he could do her vows justice. “I’m not good with words. You know this. I shut down and I keep things bottled up a lot. I’ve been like that for as long as I could remember. But you...you wouldn’t let me. Whenever I was upset as a kid, you’d ask me what was wrong and wouldn’t leave me alone until I had an answer to give you. You’re stubborn, and I’m stubborn too, but your stubbornness always wins in the end.” (Y/N) smiled at him.
“For a long time after I was banished, I wouldn’t let myself be happy. I had one main goal in life and would stop at nothing to achieve it. But when I saw you again for the first time in three years, you threw my goals off course. I was trying to hunt the Avatar, but I knew one step closer to him would be another step closer to you. It didn’t matter that you were fighting against me. Seeing your face gave me the spark that I needed to continue another day. Whether I was sad, happy, or angry, I always wanted you at my side. And I want you to be at my side everyday for the rest of our lives. Because when I’m with you, no matter what I’m feeling, I’m still the happiest I’ve ever been.”
(Y/N) was fully crying now, her makeup undoubtedly ruined, but she didn’t care. She loved Zuko with all of her heart. Every bad thing that had ever happened to her, every battle, every tear that she had ever shed, faded into nothingness.
They said their “I do’s,” and before Iroh could get the last few words of the ceremony out, Zuko’s arms wrapped around (Y/N’s) waist and pulled her close. Their kiss sealed their marriage. Neither could believe that after everything that had happened, they were standing together, finally married. It had been a long time coming, full of trials and tribulations and heartache and sadness, but they both wouldn’t change it for a thing.
The couple pulled apart, smiling at each other, before turning to the crowd to present themselves. They waved at the people who watched as Iroh boomed behind them: “I present to you: Fire Lord Zuko and Fire Queen (Y/N)!” Their friends and the people of the Fire Nation cheered for them. She saw Mai and Ty Lee at the front of the crowd, both wearing smiles on their faces as they clapped. Momo leapt into (Y/N’s) arms, giving her a big lick on the cheek.
A dagger flew through the crowd, narrowly missing (Y/N’s) head as it sank into the wooden pillar behind her. Throngs of people dressed in black jumped over the palace wall. The crowd screamed in terror, and (Y/N), Zuko, and their friends watched as the men and women in black began fighting their way toward the palace.
Zuko looked down at (Y/N). “Are you ready?” She nodded.
“It wouldn’t be a party without at least one battle.” Zuko chuckled.
As a team, (Y/N) and her friends sprung into action to fight. As she fought with her firebending, she couldn’t help but think that this was the perfect wedding.

Roses are Red
Book: The Nanny Affair
Pairing: Sam Dalton x Anna Schuyler/Mason & Mickey and Anna Schuyler (friendship)
All characters belong to Pixelberry.
Rating: PG (pure fluff, but it’s Sam, so he makes some allusions to things)
Word Count: 1,161
Notes: I wanted to make a Valentine’s fic. You’d think, with my writing history, I would have written something in the Royal Romance world, but the only inspiration that came to me was this Nanny Affair fluff. I know it’s also weird that it’s fluff and not smut, but fuck it, who am I to conform to expectations? It’s not much, just a little idea that popped into my head last night.
Tags: Got them below! Since my main tag list is for TRR stuff, I’m only tagging my TNA fam (if I missed you, I love you and I’m sorry I’m the worst 😘). If you’d like to be added to any future TNA fics I may (or may not) write, just let me know!
As Anna approached Mason & Mickey’s bedroom door she noticed a sign taped to it ‘Do Not Enter’. She was afraid of what experiments might be waiting for her on the other side, but their grandparents would be by shortly to pick them up for their sleepover, so she was going to need to overlook the prominently displayed new rule. She knocked on the door, and was quickly greeted by Mickey’s head, he made sure to keep the door closed enough that Anna couldn’t see in.
“Hi Anna, what’s up?”
“What are the two of you doing in there?” She eyed him suspiciously.
“Nothing, we’re just working on a...project. Yea, a project.”
The uncertainty in his voice did little to squash the uneasy feeling Anna had. “You know your grandparents are going to be here soon. Did you finish packing your overnight bags?” She tried to peek past Mickey to catch a glimpse of what was happening, with no luck.
“Oh...um, no. We didn’t do it yet, we’ve been really busy with our project.”
“Alright, enough games. Mickey, you need to let me in here to see what you boys are up to.”
“No, not yet we’re almost -“
“It’s ok Mickey, I finished. She can come in!” Mason interrupted his brother from the other side of the door.
Mickey opened the door and stepped aside so Anna could enter. As soon as she crossed the threshold she was greeted by an assault of glitter and construction paper littered all around the room. “Boys, what is all of this? This is one of your messiest experiments yet.”
Anna had known the boys for just about a year, when she came into their lives, she was their nanny. In the months to follow, she entered a whirlwind affair and subsequent romance with their father, Sam Dalton. It had been 6 months since Sam left Sofia at the altar and rushed, with the boys, to the airport to stop her from disappearing from their lives forever. They had been a family ever since. While Anna wasn’t on the payroll anymore, it didn’t seem appropriate once she officially became Sam’s girlfriend, she still took care of the boys just the way she had before. Before Anna had met the twins, she didn’t have much experience with kids. She figured working for the CMO of Dalton Enterprises, in any capacity, would be a foot in the door to her career as a chemist. Then she met Mason and Mickey, and she was so taken by their excitement and enthusiasm to learn and experiment, and she knew that was exactly where she needed to be.
“It’s not an experiment Anna, it’s for you!” Mason took her hand and guided her to the table on the other side of the room, motioning for her to sit. “Ok, now close your eyes”
Anna did as she was instructed and put her hands over her eyes. She could hear some shuffling around, and shook her head, picturing Mickey and Mason shoving each other around trying to get in place.
“Ok, open them!” The twins said in unison.
Anna opened her eyes to see the boys holding up a large piece of red paper covered in glitter and lace and hearts. “What’s all this?”
“Happy Valentine’s Day!” They handed the card to Anna.
She red the card:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
We’re glad our dad loves you
Because we love you too
“Boys. You did this for me?” Anna looked up at them with a bright smile that the boys matched as they nodded their heads. “You didn’t have to do this.”
“Yes we did.” Mason said matter of factly. “Dad says that on Valentine’s Day, you’re supposed to show the special people in your life how important they are to you. Besides dad, you’re the most special person we have.”
Anna’s eyes began to well, a single tear rolling down her cheek.
“We’re sorry Anna, we didn’t mean to make you sad! This was supposed to make you happy!” Mickey was very concerned, and couldn’t understand how their plan could have backfired so spectacularly.
“Yea, if you’re upset about the mess, I promise we will clean it up all by ourselves. You don’t have to do any of it!” Mason added.
Anna laughed as she shook her head and wiped away another tear. “No boys, these are happy tears. I’m so honored that you would work so hard on this just for me. I love you both so much.” She held her arms open and the boys ran straight for her, engulfing her in a hug.
“Well, I guess I’m going to have to up my Valentine’s Day game if I’m going to compete with all of this.” The three of them turned their heads to the doorway and saw Sam leaning against the frame with his arms crossed.
“I don’t know, I’ve already got two guys that want to be my valentine, I might not have room for a third.” She smirked as she rose from her seat and walked toward Sam.
“I’m sure I can convince you.” He put his arms around her waist and pulled her in for a quick kiss before leaning in to whisper in her ear. “After what I plan to do to you tonight, I have a feeling I’ll be able to convince you that the sky is green.”
The warmth of his breath mixed with the feeling of his lips brushing against her ear sent a tingle down Anna’s spine. Sam could tell, and had a sly grin on his face as he pulled back. Winking at her before turning his attention to Mason and Mickey. “Boys, your grandparents just got here. Why don’t you go keep them company while Anna and I get your things together?”
“Sure, dad!” The boys ran out into the living room, leaving Sam and Anna alone.
“You pack for Mason, I’ll get Mickey.” Sam kissed her again and led her into the twin’s room. “Let’s get them out of here so I can finally have you all to myself.”
“We’re going to have to clean up all of this first.” She gestured to the glittery mess that covered the space.
“Says who? The boys can clean all this up when they get home tomorrow.” Sam pulled her close and tucked a stray hair behind her ear. “I don’t want to delay our Valentine’s date a moment longer than I have to.”
“You know, the boys set the bar pretty high with that card.” Anna raised one eyebrow.
“Oh I know, I saw the whole thing. Don’t worry, I’m sure I can rise to the challenge.” He replied with a wink.
She laughed, slapping his chest playfully. “Alright Dalton, enough of that, let’s get the boys packed and out of here.”
They separated and continued to pack for the twin’s overnight trip, so that they could spend the first of many Valentine’s Days together.

Peace Treaty, 02
(IMPORTANT) this fanfic was made before Fundy and KSI made their disgusting jokes, but I said it on my Quotev account; I want to go on with this book because I’ve had this planned for weeks, Fundy in this book is NOT AT ALL streamer Fundy but Dream SMP Fundy. I won’t write for him after this fanfic is over. Pairing(s): Fundy x Reader, Sapnap x Reader Pronouns: she/her Pre-picked: LAST NAME, FATHER'S NAME Pervious part , Next part
When [YourName] woke up, she freaked out not remembering anything before her passing out. She was still dressed properly, so she changed, and returned downstairs. Fundy and Wilbur were speaking to Sapnap and [YourName] froze in her place. “[YourName]?” Fundy asked, making everyone’s attention go toward her, [YourName] glared at Fundy who nervously chuckled. “Someone should’ve left a note or something saying Sapnap was here still!” [YourName] said flustering, she was in a nightgown and it embarrassed her to the extreme. Sapnap laughed and shook his head, “Sorry, you’re gonna have to get used to it eventually. I’m staying for the week, after George gets here we’ll be able to get married by next week. Sounds great, right?” he explained walking over and taking [YourName]’s hands into his own. [YourName] glanced over to Fundy who looked away sadly, but she nodded, “Yes, it sounds wonderful..” she replied sadly looking down. Sapnap softly placed her thumb under [YourName]’s chin and gently pushed her head up, “Are you okay?” he whispered softly. [YourName] didn’t like the heat on her cheeks, but she nodded, “Just feeling nervous” she smiled letting go of his other hand, “I’m going to eat and return to bed.” she said walking to the kitchen. Sapnap nodded and returned to the conversation, Fundy would follow after [YourName] though, he was sucking as much alone time with her as he could. He watched as she shuffled around the kitchen, warming up leftovers over the stove, “How’re you really feeling?” Fundy asked, making the poor girl jump. She laughed softly and shook her head, “I’m so tired, I’m scared, I’m going to miss you..” she admitted looking down at her food inside the pan. She quickly moved it over to the plate and looked up toward her boyfriend. He frowned, “It hurts to watch you interact with him,” he says “I know..” she said in the same tone. [YourName] made her way over and hugged Fundy tightly, he placed a hand in her hair. Fundy gently tugged at [YourName]’s roots, placing a hand around her, and hugged her. His ears pressed against his head and his tail relaxed a slight twitch now and then, “It’ll be okay..” Fundy lied, closing his eyes. He pressed a kiss onto her hair, letting her separate and eat her dinner in peace, he just watched carefully, taking in each detail. He took note of her little shift as she admired the kitchen she grew up with as she ate her stew, the way her hair moved as she moved around. Fundy gently placed his arm on his shoulder, “I’ll be up there tonight.” he whispered making her nod. [YourName] placed her dishes away and returned to her room. She laid there staring at her ceiling, she closed her eyes and felt tears form. She’s grown up in L’manberg, never lived outside of it, and never planned to. She expected to live here for the rest of her life, have children, and grow old right in this exact place- but instead, she’s being forced out of the house for the sake of this exact country she thought she’d grow up in. She sat up and threw her pillow on the ground violently just in time for her door to open. [YourName] stood on her knees glancing over quickly, Fundy had taken his jacket off and dressed for the night. They just stared at each other, [YourName] melting right then and there as she let her tears fall. Fundy made his way over, taking his place after shutting the door on her bed and offering his arms. [YourName] fell into his arms, sobbing, she buried her head into his shoulder. She let it all out, letting everything finally set and settle into her heart. She admits many things, her fear of losing Fundy in this mess, how she wanted to be with him forever, and beyond that. She didn’t want any of this and it was clear as day right now. All Fundy could do was hold [YourName] and listen, she had listened to him when he was upset about this- it was his turn to comfort his lover. He ran his fingers through [YourName]’s hair and coaxed her into sleep. He felt bad, he didn’t say anything throughout her whole break down- but it was the fact he sat there with her until she fell asleep that matter, he hoped so at least. “I love you, [YourName]” he whispered to her gently, placing her into her bed properly, he debated on staying but chose not to. He placed a final kiss on her lips, taking in her scent once more, rubbing his forehead against her neck before taking his shirt off and dropping it on her, and leaving. She is his, whether Sapnap knows it or not. George had come into town that week, Dream and him deciding to stay in the same hotel Sapnap had decided to live in. With George, Gregory, Wilbur, and Dream- the wedding should be prepped and ready by next week. Sapnap was excited while [YourName] just smiled and nodded when asked if she was happy, everyone knew it must be awkward being placed into such a situation and Sapnap was being an absolute saint for showing his excitement for both himself and [YourName]. [YourName] sat on the floor with Wilbur at her house, Sapnap, George, and Dream talking next to them. Gregory came down with a brown torn up box and set it on the floor, Wilbur and [YourName] along with Dream, Geroge, and Sapnap all glanced over when Gregory stood up with pride. He dug through the box before offering something to [YourName], Wilbur’s eyes grew wide, “What’s.. this?” [YourName] asked curiously. “These were your mother’s, she wore them to our wedding,” Gregory explained with a smile to his daughter, she shook her head. The glovers were pretty and well kept up with for the amount of time they had spent in their location locked away from daylight. They were fingerless gloves, mesh ribbons at the end to tie around the wrist of their user, they were lace with pearls, rhinestones, and flower designs lining around the top of the hands. [YourName] shook her head again, “No offense Sapnap, but mother would’ve murdered you the second you told us about this marriage.” she confessed scooting them toward her father “She would not want me to wear these.” she said. Sapnap shrugged, no offense was taken. Gregory was offended though “No, you’re wearing these, honor your mother- please.” he begged, Wilbur stepped in “Let [YourName] have one thing for herself.” he told his friend. Gregory sighed, “Fine, alright.” he said tucking them away gently back in their spot. [YourName] focused on what she needed to focus on, the following morning she left and ordered her dress for the wedding. The rest of the day she sat there, not allowed to see Fundy until her wedding day as Wilbur placed him in charge of fixing up the altar and reception area speck and span with a few others like Tommy and Tubbo. [YourName] leaned against Sapnap and fell asleep listening to all the males talk about what colors should be. She didn’t care, she wanted this over, face her demons, marry them, and live with them. Sapnap glanced over to [YourName], noticing she was asleep he softly smiled. He quieted Dream and Geroge and softly asked for a blanket to place around [YourName], “She doesn’t seem happy..” George admitted taking his seat again. “Obviously she isn’t, she’s being forced out of her home and to a stranger.” Sapnap explained with a serious face, “At least you’re aware of how she feels.” Dream said, throwing his hands up and leaning back into his chair. “Doesn’t it feel... Wrong? Like you’re taking a girl away from her home, marrying her as a treaty, for all we know she had her life planned out with her secret lover!” George said joking at the end. Sapnap closed his eyes, shaking his head, “I feel horrible, but I like her.” he said as he wrapped an arm around her sleeping form protectively. Dream and Geroge glanced over to each other, both choosing to drop the subject. ‘Must’ve hit a sensitive spot.’ Dream though watching Sapnap freak out over [YourName], Dream wasn’t stupid- he watched Fundy and [YourName] interact. He walked into the kitchen the other night and watched the way Fundy comforted her, kissed her hair, stood there with her, he had to do something about it. He wanted Sapnap to remain happy and that was because of their friendship, no way was he going to let some random fox hybrid get in the way of this. The following week, it was wedding time. [YourName] stood in front of her mirror, friends had left the room and let her collect her thoughts. Her arms were itchy from the material that was used to create the see-through effect, but so were her corset and skirt which was covered in lace, glitter, jewels, beads, and flower designs. She had to admit, she felt pretty in this dress and preferred to feel pretty and sad on this big day than ugly and sad. Her hair was done nicely, with no loose strands or messy ends, and on top of her head was leaf design Rhinestone headpiece, the wires connected each stone to the next, which added to the mystical feeling she had felt when she looked at herself. Behind her were her boots that she had to lace up, the heels were tinier than she was used to, but she had practiced with them all week. There was a knock on her dressing room door, “Come in” she replied looking over. She expected her father, but instead, it was Fundy. “Hello,” He greeted, his ears perked up and tail wagged with excitement. He missed her dearly and if this was going to be their last moments together he was going to make it work. [YourName] brightened up, “Fundy!” she greeted rushing over bringing him into a hug which he returned. He squeezed her, kissing all over her face. [YourName] giggled nuzzling her nose against his making little squeak noises to be admitted from his mouth. “Gosh, I’m going to miss this,” she said softly pressing her forehead against his. Fundy shook his head, “I’m going to get you out of this marriage, even if it means having to kill later on down the line.” he explained making sure his point was proven. “Let’s not bubble down to murder, maybe there’ll be a new way of peace and I’ll be let go, and then we can live out our lives together within L’manberg,” she said giggling once more hugging him closely. He gently bent down and rubbed his face and head against her neck, [YourName] had no idea what he was doing, but she took it like a champ. “Well then” she chuckled, Fundy flustered but shook it off, “There’s a gift I need to give you personally before you leave, okay? You can’t lose it.” Fundy said seriously, pulling away from [YourName]. She nodded, making a mental note in her head for that, “Alright, I love you, please… be careful.” Fundy said, taking his leave. [YourName] laced her boots up and would meet up with her father in front of the doors of the aisle. She held onto her father’s arm, the bridesmaids and groomsmen along with the flower and ring boys had gone down already and it was her turn. She clung to her father’s arm and stuck a fake smile on as they passed church pews filled with close family friends and friends of Sapnap’s. Gregory let go of his daughter after pressing a kiss to her forehead and returning to his seat in the front row, Wilbur smiled between Sapnap and [YourName]. He proceeded to get both [YourName] and Geroge to say vows, [YourName] held her flower batch close with a soft smile at the faint smell of Fundy on her. She looked at Sapnap making him smile, “If there to be any objections, speak now.” Wilbur said loud and clear. [YourName] hoped someone would say something, that someone would stand up and whisk her away, but she knew better than to hope. She glanced at the crowd, especially at Fundy, but he didn’t act. Wilbur hummed, “Tommy, Tubbo, the rings please.” he asked, making the teenagers squirm and push each other to give [YourName] and Sapnap the rings making the room fill up with laughter. Dream carefully stepped up, removing [YourName]’s engagement necklace and placed it inside a provided glass box, and carried it away, letting the ring vows carry on. Sapnap looked into [YourName]’s eyes with a soft smile “Let this ring be a symbol of my promises to you and a reminder of my devotion to you, [YourName]. I am honored to call you my wife.” he spoke placing the ring onto her finger. “I will wear it. Whenever I look at it, I will remember this day and the vows we’ve made.” [YourName] spoke before she picked up Sapnap’s ring and carefully did the same thing as he had done, “Because this ring is perfectly symmetrical, it signifies our true love. As I place it on your finger, I give you all I am and hope to be” she said looking up at the male. “Because this ring has no end or beginning, it signifies the continuation of true love. I give you all that I am and ever hope to be.” Sapnap replied softly, but loud enough for everyone to hear. “You may now kiss the bride!” Wilbur said, shutting the book loudly, smiling toward [YourName] and Sapnap. The two hadn’t kissed once since they met, Sapnap had kissed [YourName]’s knuckles countless of times but this was different. [YourName] and Sapnap leaned in, placing their lips upon each other. [YourName]’s arms wrapped around Sapnap’s neck while Sapnap placed his hands against her waist. “Congratulations, [YourName] and Sapnap, you are now wedded and now proceed with the reception!” Wilbur said after the two pulled away, despite the hatred [YourName] knew she needed to feel, she quite enjoyed that kiss with Sapnap, and from the smile on her husband’s face-- he enjoyed it too. [YourName] and Sapnap led friends and family to the reception area, taking a seat at the sweetheart table after the food was served. “[YourName]?” An unknown voice spoke, [YourName] glanced around until she noticed a male in a black and red cloak, he had brown hair, his skin was covered in black spots and he wore glasses. “That’s me.” [YourName] said innocently, Sapnap too busy trying to prevent an argument between Geroge and Dream to notice, “I’m Bad, Sapnap’s father, it’s lovely to meet you!” he said with a smile offering his hand. [YourName] took it and shook it, “A shame I never got to meet you before this, but I uh.. I hope to see you around more.” [YourName] said nervously. Sapnap glanced over and smiled, busting into conversation with his father, easily placing Bad’s attention onto himself and not his new wife. Soon, Sapnap and [YourName] were in the middle of the spotlight and softly danced to a disc Tommy had carefully picked out with Wilbur and Fundy, they gently swayed between steps. [YourName]’s hand was placed on Sapnap’s shoulder while the other was being held out, while Sapnap’s hand was placed upon her waist and held [YourName]’s hand out guiding her with each step. The two couldn’t help but smile when they messed up now and then. After their first dance Gregory and [YourName] had the father-daughter dance, which was even more emotional than the first dance. The disc that played was the same one [YourName]’s mother had danced with her father to. [YourName] was soon able to sit back down, which she proceeded to do. At the end of the wedding, [YourName] met up with Fundy where he gave her a final wedding gift. She couldn’t open it until later when Sapnap left their new home and it was just her. [YourName] placed one final kiss against Fundy’s cheek and soon rushed over to Sapnap where they were seen off to spend a few weeks away from Dream SMP and L’manberg. [YourName] hoped nothing bad would happen within these next two weeks.

*3 years later*
"Mom how do I look?" Jiah asked and Jinae turned around to look at her.
"The prettiest baby." Jinae said and Jiah made a sad face.
"I gotta go change quickly." She mumbled and turned around but Seungyoun stopped her.
"What do you mean change? Why?" He asked.
Jiah turned around to look at an equally confused Jinae.
"I can't look prettier than Mom today. It's her day. It's her wedding day." Jiah said and Seungyoun and Jinae burst out laughing.
"Wedding day.." Jinae mumbled happily.
That day when Sejun entered the diner and saw the lady startled and heard a hiccup and saw Jinae, he rushed to her, to comfort her since she was crying. Instead of telling him what was wrong, she kissed him which he pulled back from. Looking at her from that close, teary eyed but red face and trembling lips, he couldn't pull back again when she kissed him. When they pulled back for air, with their foreheads still touching, she couldn't stop saying how much she missed him, how much she hated seeing him with someone else and how sorry she was to turn him down when he asked her. They talked like that, pecking in between conversations and giggling until a loud thud made them look at the table where the diner lady had put their usual order - both pancakes and waffles and they laughed, slightly embarrassed acting like teenagers in love.
After that, they talked and talked almost as if compensating for the 10 years that they missed. Until Seungyoun called her to ask where she got stuck. He sounded really mad and then they looked at the time and she cursed because it was 4am and time really passed away too quickly and they stood up to leave and apologised profusely to the lady because she kept her diner open for them when she closed around 2am. They insisted on helping her close up but she shooed them away and when they left, she shouted,"Get married already!" And they only giggled looking at each other.
The door opened and Seungsik peeked in, "Can I come in?"
She waved him happily inside and he looked at her giving her the biggest smile,"You look absolutely gorgeous! Sejun is going to cry at the altar." And she laughed.
"So he should. If he doesn't, I'm not giving her away to him." Seungyoun said, coming behind Jinae and squeezing her shoulder.
"Like you did?" Jinae asked and Seungsik and she laughed at Seungyoun's pout.
"I still can't believe you said Yes to him when he asked you like that." Seungsik mumbled and they all laughed.
3 months ago, It was a regular night when they all- the boys and Jimin and Seungyoun decided to crash at her house and it was a 'huge sleepover' as Jiah called it.
The reality behind the plan was that Sejun wanted to propose to her and Subin and Seungsik had planned it all out for him. They were all to wake up and have breakfast together. Then Sejun would ask Jinae to go out for a movie and when they'll leave, the rest of them would decorate the house and set up a candlelight dinner for them. They would come to that, enjoy the dinner and then Sejun would ask her to marry him.
But did it go that way?
They all woke up and Jinae and Jimin came out from the room they slept in. All the boys crashed in the living room and they were all in different stages of waking up. She walked out in her cute pyjamas and slept in hair and bare face and he felt something tug at his heart. He looked at her walking to the open kitchen but she came back from half way and gave him a kiss and asked him what he wanted for breakfast.
Instead of answering what he wanted he asked her to marry him.
Everyone froze and turned to stare at him and she said huh.
He said loudly, "Marry me!"
Before she could respond, Subin and Seungsik were shouting at him for ruining their preparations, Jimin was congratulating her and Jiah was asking him if she can call him dad now.
But he had her eyes locked with her's and slowly she smiled and nodded and mouthed 'Yes' to him and he felt like the happiest man on earth.
"How could I have said no to him?" She said and Seungyoun gagged.
"How is he?" She asked Seungsik and he shrugged.
"He's excited and nervous. And dying to see you ofcourse." Seungsik said and she chuckled.
Soon Subin peeked in to tell her that everything was ready and they'll start any moment now. She nodded and Seungsik left after giving her a hug, Jiah with him who was supposed to be the flower girl and the ring bearer.
When seungyoun and Jinae were alone, he hugged her tightly.
"I'm so happy for you Jinae. You deserve this and so much more." He whispered and she heard a sniffle.
"Don't you cry on me now youn or I'll cry too and I don't think the makeup is waterproof." She said and they both shared a laugh, slightly teared up.
They heard a knock on the door and the music for the bride started and he gave her his hand which she took, smiling widely. She had her best man with him and was going to marry the love of her life and nothing could top that feeling.
They exited the small cottage rented and walked down to the beach. They had booked a private beach house for the wedding and only the closest people were to be there - the boys and their Significant others, Seungyoun and his wife, Aerin, and Jimin. Jinae and Sejun had personally invited the dining lady to the wedding but she had some private business to attend to and couldn't make it.
They reached the small way between the seats and everyone was standing and looking at her but her eyes were only for Sejun, her Sejun who was smiling at her with so much love in his eyes and his dimples on display, who was also slightly teary eyed.
"Glad he's crying or else I would have just turned around and dragged you with me." Seungyoun Whispered beside her and she couldn't help but chuckle.
Then there was her excited baby, Jiah, happily waving at her from beside Sejun. She had declared that before the ceremony she'll be from her mother's side but during the ceremony she'll be with Sejun. Jinae was slightly offended but seeing how happy Sejun was and how he almost cried after hearing the news, she might have accepted it. Jiah had been dying to call Sejun dad since the day he proposed to her and she would always get this giddy smile whenever she'd talk about it to Jinae and she couldn't have been happier.
Before reaching Sejun, she thanked her late husband in her heart, he was the reason she had Jiah and she hoped he would be as happy for her as she was feeling in the moment.
And then they had reached the Altar and Seungyoun was passing her hand to an ecstatic but close to crying Sejun who would not stop smiling at her.
The ceremony went too quickly and she felt like it didn't even register to her and then they were saying "I do" and then the priest said, "You may now kiss the bride." And Sejun Lifted the veil and then his hands were on her waist and he bent her down and kissed her and she could feel him smiling in the kiss, couldn't help herself from doing the same and they heard Whooping from among their friends and then he was pulling back, smiling and red faced and whispered to her, "Ready for the future Mrs. Lim?"
All she could do was nod before she felt tiny hands hugging her waist and she looked down to see Jiah and heard her say, "Congratulations Mom and finally, Dad!" And the smile Sejun had when he bent down to hug Jiah made Jinae think that she made the best decision ever.
She looked around at her small group of friends, and how much she adored them all and how happy she was at that exact moment, looking at the love of her life hugging her child with so much love, looking at her best friend standing hand in hand with his wife and all the other friends who have always been there for her whenever she needed.
And she had never thought she could feel so much love and happiness at one moment but here she was, looking forward to more of them with all these people in her life.

Goddesses and their Gods (3/3)
Here is the final chapter of my submission for @bonkywobble’s Halfway to 1k challenge. Had fun writing this. Might do some one-shots in the future.
Pairings: Bucky Barnes x Reader; Hephaestus!Bucky x Aphrodite!Reader
Synopsis: the wedding. Just some fluff.
Word count: 2k
Warnings: Fluff, some very slight angst (wedding nerves)
Y/n and Natasha sat on their spot on the beach, drinking some fun drinks and discussed their ideas for the wedding.
“I know pretty much all the gods and goddesses need to be there, but I don’t want to go crazy. Bucky isn’t the biggest fan of crowds and it’s our day, so I want him to be happy with everything, too.”
“Y/n, you know that god will be happy if you are. You could demand that everyone has to wear pink and he’d go along with it,” Natasha pointed out. She knew Y/n wasn’t the type to go overboard, despite what others might think.
“Yeah, I’m not really feeling that. I may be the Goddess of Love, but even I don’t need everything and everyone in one color. What about these two colors for the wedding?” She pushed a couple of swatches towards Natasha. [Pick your two favorite colors]
Natasha really liked the colors together. She could see Bucky being happy with them as well.
“I think they look great. Do you want to use them as accents?”
“Well, I want to use this color for the bridesmaids dresses for you, Wanda, and Pepper. As well as for color accents for the guys,” Y/n said, pointing to one of the colors. “And I want the other color to be used for the flowers.”
Natasha was impressed. “I think that would look really nice. What about your dress?”
“I’m going with non-white. I’m leaning towards a soft champagne or silver color for my dress and my flowers will be a mix of the two colors. I have to run this by Bucky too, to see what he thinks.” Y/n looked thoughtful. “I hope he likes them.”
“I’m certain he will. And I love that you are trying to get him involved. Do you really think he’ll help?”
“Well, we already decided on our cake and the menu for the reception. He’s been pretty involved actually. I love it. Him wanting to be involved makes me feel as if he really is excited for this.”
“Why wouldn’t he be?”
“I know wedding stuff isn’t for everyone. Bucky has made some great suggestions too. This wedding is about both of us, the day we start the rest of our lives together.”
“You really are a romantic.”
“Well, it comes with the job,” Y/n laughed out. “I guess I was made for it.”
“You were. You and Bucky really make the rest of feel love. It’s like you project it out. It’s the best feeling.”
Y/n smiled. “I really lucked out with him.”
Bucky was working in his forge, finishing up some bolts for Tony. He wanted to get a head’s start on some of the projects he agreed to take on before the wedding, so that he and Y/n could have a nice extended honeymoon. He heard a crash from behind him. Bucky quickly turned around to see Steve trying to put the items back on the table he had knocked over.
“Sorry, Buck.”
“Don’t worry about it, Steve. Those are just some toys I’ve been working on. Thankfully nothing dangerous. What brings you by?” Bucky set the bolt in the holder he had created for them and made his way over to where Steve was standing.
“Wedding details. Y/n gave me a list to give to you. You get to make the decisions for these things.” Steve handed over a piece of paper. There were a few things on the list.
“That’s not too much. I think this wedding is pretty much planned out,” Bucky said, looking at the list.
“Big day is in a week, right?”
“Yeah. Y/n mentioned there were a few last minute things that would come up, but we have all the big details down. I can’t wait to see her at the altar.”
“You planned this pretty quickly.”
“Well, we didn’t want to waste time. I knew she was the one for me on our first date. She’s amazing.” Bucky got a happy dazed look in his eyes.
“And you didn’t want Tony to change his mind.” Steve smirked.
“Uh, duh. He can be pretty impulsive.” Bucky laughed. “Honestly, I don’t think he would change his mind on this. He’s getting his bolts back and Y/n is happy, which is what he wants. He wouldn’t do anything to make her sad, not intentionally.”
“True.”
“Any other reason you stopped by?” Bucky knew his friend well enough to know when he needed something more.
“Are we doing a bachelor party? Did you want one?”
“I don’t really care about it. I know Y/n is doing a night in with Pepper, Wanda, Loki, and Natasha. They’re just going to pamper themselves and relax. I’d be okay with doing something low-key like that. Just a night in with some friends.”
Steve nodded. “You, me, Sam, and Thor?”
“Works for me.”
“I’ll let them all know.” Steve moved towards the door to leave. “Any requests for drinks?”
“Just the usual. Let me know where to show up.”
“Will do, Pal.”
Steve left Bucky to finish up his work.
The week went quickly and the last minute preparations were done for the wedding. Y/n and Bucky had their nights with their friends after the rehearsal dinner. Before they knew it, the day of the wedding had arrived. The morning of, Y/n, Loki, and the girls were all in Y/n’s home getting ready. The ceremony was going to take place on Olympus with all the gods and goddesses in attendance. Bucky and his groomsmen were getting ready at Natasha’s home, which was next to Y/n’s. The wedding was set to be in the early afternoon, with the reception planned to go through the night. Since gods and goddesses didn’t really need much sleep (if at all), they figured they would just party and celebrate with their friends until people decided to do something else. Y/n was feeling nervous all morning.
“What if he changes his mind? I can be a lot,” Y/n said, her leg bouncing with nerves.
“He would never. He loves you too much,” Pepper said, rubbing Y/n’s shoulder.
“He’s completely whipped for you,” Loki interjected. “In a good way, of course.”
Y/n couldn’t stop bouncing her leg. “I need to see him. Nat, I need Bucky.”
Natasha hesitated. “What about the tradition of not seeing the bride before the wedding? Isn’t that bad luck?”
“I never agreed with that tradition. I’ve seen plenty of people see each other before the wedding and had perfectly happy marriages. I don’t even know where that stupid tradition started.”
Pepper spoke up, “It emerged from a time when arranged marriages were commonplace, and was practiced to ensure the groom would go through with the marriage regardless of the bride-to-be's identity or appearance. I don’t think it would apply in this case.”
Y/n threw her hands up. “See? Pepper knows about these things. She’s the goddess of marriage. The tradition wouldn’t even apply to us because Bucky has seen me plenty of times. Nat, I need to see him.”
“Okay. I’ll run and get him.”
Natasha rushed out the door and ran next door. She knocked a few times before the door opened, revealing Steve. He looked at her quizzically.
“Aren’t you supposed to be helping the bride get ready?” He leaned against the doorway, his eyebrow quirked up.
“Bride needs to see the groom. She’s kind of freaking out with nerves.”
“She getting cold feet?”
“I think she’s scared of him getting cold feet and needs assurances he still wants her.”
Bucky stuck his head through the doorway. “Why would she think I don’t want to marry her?”
“I think the irrational part of her is taking over. Thoughts of being the jilted lover. She needs you. Come over, please.”
“What about the trad—“ Steve started to ask, but Natasha interrupted him.
“It’s a stupid tradition that wouldn’t apply to you two anyways, since this isn’t an arranged marriage.”
“What?” Bucky and Steve asked together.
“I’ve already lived through this conversation once today. Just get your butt over there and calm her down.” Natasha was getting exasperated. “Your bride needs you.”
Bucky looked at Steve. “Make sure my suit is ready for when I get back.” He made his way out the door. “Let’s go, Nat.”
As soon as Bucky was through the door, Y/n rushed and jumped into his arms. He could feel her heart beating quickly. He tightened his arms around her and moved his mouth close to her ear.
“I’m here, Love.”
“I’m sorry,” she mumbled.
“For what?” Bucky asked, pulling back.
“Making you come over here.” Y/n still wouldn’t look up.
Bucky put his hand under her chin and lifted her face to look at him. “There is nothing to apologize for. Are you okay?”
“I am now. I guess I just got stuck in my head. You sure you wanna marry me?”
“More than ever.” Bucky smiled at her. “I’m so excited to spend the rest of my life with you.”
“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my days with you.”
Bucky started to let go of Y/n but she pulled him back into her. “Not yet. You calm me.”
Bucky tightened his arms around her. “Okay, Love. I got you.”
They stayed holding each other for a few minutes until Natasha, Pepper, Wanda, and Loki came back into the room.
“Alright love birds,” Pepper said, clapping her hands. “Time to break it up. We need to finish getting Y/n ready for the ceremony and Bucky, you need to get dressed yourself.”
Y/n and Bucky reluctantly separated themselves.
“See you at the alter?” Y/n said with a smile.
“I’ll be waiting for you, Love.”
The rest of the morning was spent getting ready for the ceremony. When everyone was ready, they made their way to the park in the center of Olympus. Y/n could barely contain her excitement.
Bucky and his groomsmen were at the altar. Tony, as king of the gods, was presiding. Y/n had decided to walk down the aisle by herself. It took everything in her to not run down the aisle to Bucky.
Steve kept his hand on Bucky’s shoulder to keep in place. Bucky kept trying to move forward to meet her and Steve had to hold him in place. Bucky was in awe of Y/n. Her dress shimmered in the sunlight. When she reached him, Y/n handed her bouquet to Natasha and placed her hand in Bucky’s.
“You put all the stars to shame with your beauty, Love,” Bucky said softly.
“I think I’ve blinded you,” Y/n replied with a light laugh.
Tony smiled at the couple before beginning. “Welcome goddesses and gods. We’re here to witness the marriage between Aphrodite, Goddess of Love, and Hephaestus, God of Metalworking and Fire.”
The rest of the ceremony went in a blur. Y/n and Bucky decided to say their own vows. There was not a dry eye in the crowd. They exchanged rings, with a special one being designed for Bucky’s metal arm that would stay no matter what.
“Alright, now with the exchanging of vows and rings, that means you two are now joined. By the power vested in me by, who else, me, I now declare you married. You may kiss each other, but knowing you two, keep it short. We don’t need a show.”
The crowd laughed and Bucky pulled Y/n into his arms. He dipped her low and gave her a dramatic kiss. Everyone started cheering as they stood up, kissing once more.
“I love you, Husband.”
“I love you, Wife.”
Bucky and Y/n made their way to the reception, where they danced the night away, surrounded by their friends and family. It was the perfect day for both of them.

daddy duties | 24
“Oh-- Jin hyung,” Jimin says, confused when Jin walked in with both his sons, not dressed for the occasion. The group was all at Hoseok’s dance studio, using the white room as a photoshoot area for the kids.
“I had a feeling Haneul would dirty his clothes before we got here so I figured I dress them here instead.” Jimin still looked at him confused as he walked in without anything else. He figured he’d find out on his own and just laughed at him.
“What??” Jin says, confused.
Jungkook was setting up his camera when Jimin walked over to him.
“Why are you smiling like that..” Jungkook says, looking back and forth from his camera to Jimin.
“Jin hyung forgot Minseok and Haneul’s clothes,” he whispered to the younger one. “I think he left noona and Soojin at home too.” Jungkook lets out a small laugh, shaking his head.
“AH!” Jin yells from the back.
“What…” Minseok says, sitting up as he was previously laying on the floor.
“Stay with uncles, I need to go pick up mommy and Soojinie,” Jin says, running out the door, knowing darn well he’s going to get yelled at.
“Daddy’s going to be in trouble,” Minseok tells Haneul. Haneul’s eyebrows raise, putting both his hands on his face.
“Uh oh!”
-
After the picture taking, the girls separated from the boys.
“Come to daddy,” Jimin says, taking Mingyu from you. “Say see you later mommy~” He says to you, moving Mingyu’s little hand side to side. He giggles as you wave back to him. With all the time you two spent with Mingyu together, Jimin has become very comfortable and more confident in taking care of him without you around.
“Mommy, I go with daddy and uncles too right?” Sian says, holding onto Haneul and Minseok’s hand.
“Yes sir,” Rina says with a thumbs up. With that, the three ran off to their dads. Leaving you and the girls with four little princesses.
“Are we going together to get ready?” Hana says, Sohyun nods, reaching out to hold her hand.
“But we’re ready already,” Moonji says, kicking a rock on the ground.
“You’re gonna help the aunties get ready!” Byul says.
“I’m so excited for mommy to get married to daddy!!” Huimang says, jumping up and down. Everyone ‘aww’d’ at her, Sarang leaning down to give her a kiss. Soojin smiles at her unnie, turning around to look at her mom.
“I’m excited for my mommy to marry daddy too!!” She says loudly. Mae couldn’t help but laugh, grabbing her swiftly under her arms and picking her up.
“Silly girl, mommy and daddy got married years ago~” She says, booping her daughter on the nose. Soojin pouts at her, crossing her arms.
“Well how come I wasn’t invited..”
You and the girls laugh at her little comment, shaking your head as you walk to the parking lot. The boys decided to get ready at Jin and Mae’s house while the girls went to Hoseok and Sarang’s.
-
Mingyu was beginning to cry when the eleven of them got to Jin’s place.
“Let’s change you back into some house clothes before you make a mess,” Jin says, carrying Haneul into his room.
“What’s that smell?” Taehyung says, sniffing the air. He then covers his nose, walking away from the area. Jungkook looks like he already got a whiff of it earlier, staying as far as possible from the boys.
“What?” Jimin says.
“Jiminah, I think you should go change Mingyu,” Namjoon says, grimacing.
“Can you not smell it?” Yoongi says, picking up Mingyu’s diaper bag off of the floor and handing it to Jimin.
“N-no,” Jimin says, bending Mingyu over to smell his bottom. “Oh-- okay, I smell it,” he says, scrunching his nose and running to the bathroom.
After he has changed Mingyu, Jimin walks out of the bathroom with Mingyu in only a onesie.
“He ruined his outfit,” he tells the group, sighing. “I’ll change him into his backup wedding outfit later.”
“Understandable,” Jin says, pointing to Haneul, who was running around with nothing but a shirt and a diaper. “I brought out Haneul’s old playpen by the way. Gyu could use it if you want him too.”
“Ah, thanks hyung,” Jimin says, walking over to the playpen Jin set up and putting his son in.
“Okay, so what do we do now,” Hoseok says, sitting down on the couch. “The girls are all fixing their hair and putting on makeup, but ours shouldn’t take that long right?” Namjoon nods, all of them just looking around at each other.
“Should we eat?” Jin says.
“Yeah-- yeah, we shouldn’t get married on an empty stomach,” Jungkook says, running to the kitchen.
-
“It’s almost time,” you say to Sarang, as she looks at the mirror, fixing her hair one final time.
“Do I look okay?” she asks, looking at you and the girls. A nervous look on her face.
“Okay??” Rina says, walking up to her and making her look back at the mirror.
“Sis,, you look WAY more than okay,” Byul says, walking up to her as well.
“Gorgeous would be an understatement,” Mae cuts in.
“Ahh! I’m so excited for Hoseok to see you,” Sohyun says.
Dahee couldn’t say anything as tears began falling from her eyes.
“Ah! Don’t cry aunt Dahee!” Huimang says, pressing a tissue to her cheek. “Your makeup is going to smudge!” Sarang turns and laughs at her daughter, motioning for her to come to her.
“Are you as excited as I am?” She asks. Huimang nods her head quickly.
“Well I guess we should get going huh?” You say. “Don’t wanna keep Hoseok waiting.”
-
The wedding was finally starting, the bridesmaid, groomsmen, the maid of honor, had already walked down the aisle. Hoseok wasn’t in tears just yet but he couldn’t stop smiling as he saw his best friends walking towards him as he stood at the altar. Taehyung was his best man so he stood beside him the whole time. Sarang wasn’t out just yet, but all that was left to walk down were the kids! The four beautiful flower girls started walking down the aisle. Hana led it, smiling at her uncle as she threw the flower petals on the ground. Behind her was Moonji, then Soojin. Hoseok smiled and waved at each of them as they got closer and the tears began to pool his eyes once his eyes fell on his daughter.
“Come here,” he whispered, hugging Huimang right when she got to him. He hugged her tightly, pressing a kiss to her cheek. Huimang giggles, her small hand holding her dad’s cheek, a little thumb wiping away a tear.
“Don’t cry daddy, mommy’s almost here and she looks beautiful,” she tells him, a small laugh coming out of Hoseok’s lips. He nods, letting her go off with the other girls. As he stood straight, he couldn’t help but laugh at the little boys walking down. All his nephews , but Mingyu, was there. Sian and Haneul were holding signs. Sian’s read “Uncle Hobi, here comes your girl!” Hoseok laughs as he reads it, but laughs even harder when Haneul starts running to the altar. You could see how big Minseok’s eyes got when his brother started running, holding the sign tightly in front of him. The sign read: “They didn’t trust me with the rings”
“Aigoo, aigoo,” Jin says, as Haneul runs straight to him. “I’m sorry,” he whispers to Hobi as he picks up his son. He simply laughed it off.
Now that everyone was here, it was just Sarang who’s left to walk. Everybody stood up as they watched her appear at the end of the altar. Hoseok’s expression changed so quickly and he couldn’t help but cry at the sight of his bride walking towards him.
“Why sad,” Haneul says, pointing towards Hobi. Jin quickly shushes him, putting his hand down. Haneul’s eyebrows furrow, his lips turning into a pout.
All the bridesmaids and groomsmen were already tearing up as well. You all were very happy for your two best friends. Especially knowing Hoseok for so long and knowing what he’s been through. You all were very thankful for Sarang and Huimang coming in out of nowhere. Life’s crazy, but it somehow always ends up pretty great.
-
The wedding was now ending and the two were about to kiss as husband and wife. Your favorite part about these weddings were the reaction of your nieces and nephews. You turn to look at them as they announce “You may now kiss the bride.”
Of course, they all cover their eyes, peeking through their little fingers. You looked at Huimang who had the biggest smile you’ve ever seen on her. You felt your heart melt right then and there.
Hoseok was taking his sweet time brushing away Sarang’s hair while you all patiently waited for them to finally kiss. But before he gets the chance to do so, a high pitch scream comes out from the audience. You all were taken aback, looking at where the scream came from. You and Jimin turn red instantly, knowing that it was Mingyu. You felt sorry as your mother in law tries her best to calm him down but you can see him looking towards you as he cried.
“I am so so so sorry,” you say to the newly married couple, running down to your mother in law to get your son.
“Shhh shh, mommy’s here,” you say, taking him into your arms. He quickly quiets down once you hold him. You run back quickly to your place with your girls, telling Hoseok and Sarang to proceed. They laugh at you two, turning back to each other before Hoseok puts his hand on both sides of her face, leaning down to kiss her on the lips.
Everyone clapped as they finally had their first kiss as a married couple.
-
“You really had to go and steal our thunder huh?” Sarang says to Mingyu. You all were now at the reception, Sarang’s favorite music playing in the background as everyone was eating their food.
“I’m so sorry about that,” you say sheepishly. Sarang puts a hand on your shoulder.
“Oh my gosh, I was totally kidding. It was great, the kids really added a comedic touch to our whole wedding,” she says, turning to Haneul as he smiles cheekily at her.
“Is it working?” Taehyung says on stage, tapping on the microphone. You all turn to him and he smiles.
“Good evening everyone. My name’s Kim Taehyung, I’ll be the MC for tonight..Ah… I think I’m going to keep MCing at my friend’s wedding until I have a girlfriend of my own,” he says, getting a laugh from the audience. “The last wedding we had was Jimin and Yn’s,” he says, nodding to you and your husband. “Back then, the MC was me and Hoseok hyung because we were the only ones in the group that didn’t have a kid and were single. And I still can’t believe I’m MCing at his wedding.”
“When Taehyung gets a girlfriend, are we still going to make him MC the next wedding?” Jimin asks the group. Once again, you were all sitting in one huge table. Jungkook nods from across him.
“Him and Jin hyung for my wedding,” he says.
“Yeah, you’re going to be next?” Jimin asks. Jungkook nods.
“Unless one of you beat me to it again,” he says, glaring at Hoseok. Hoseok puts his hand up, walking to hide behind Sarang.
“You’re saying I could’ve been the one getting married right now???” Rina asks, turning to Jungkook. He closes his eyes and nods slowly.
“Blame Hoseok hyung,” he points. Rina turns to Hoseok but both the newly wed couple were gone.
You shake your head at the both of them. A slow song starts to play, you turn to Jimin. He immediately gets up, taking your hand. You hold Mingyu in one arm, and hold his hand with the other. Out of nowhere, your mother in law comes up to the three of you.
“Do you want me to take him so you two can dance?” She says.
“Umm,” you thought, looking to Jimin. He says nothing but smiles at you and you shake your head, turning back to his mom.
“It’s okay mom, thank you, we’re good,” you say, she smiles at the both of you, saying okay. You turn back to your husband and he puts his hands on both sides of your waist. The three of you swaying back and forth to the song.
“Can you believe, and I know all we’ve been doing is mentioning how the last wedding was ours, but I just can’t believe that we have a whole family now,” Jimin says. The two of you look at Mingyu who has been staring at Jimin’s shiny coat the whole time.
“I know, I’m so happy,” you say, leaning up to give him a kiss.
“I know it wasn’t all in our plan to go this fast, and I know how hard it was for us to settle in, but I’m glad everything happened the way they did,” you say, you look down at Mingyu who’s eyelids were getting heavy. “I think we’re getting the hang of things, everything’s going perfectly imperfect.” Jimin smiles down at you bringing a hand up to brush your hair away from your face.
“I’m just thankful that I had you with me and you were patient enough to deal with me being impatient about everything. I’m glad I was able to learn along the way with you and that you helped me realize that not everything has to be perfect the first time. You’re right, it may seem like it’s done wrong at first, but all our mistakes only lead to the right decision.”
“And we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
-
“So where are you going for your honeymoon?” Namjoon asks. The reception had ended. Just like before, the whole group stayed back as everyone had already made their separate ways. Your in-laws had already gone back to your house. They offered to take Mingyu off your hands and put him to bed while you stayed with your friends, but he just looked so peaceful sleeping on Jimin’s chest that you had to pass her offer.
“It’s a surprise for Sarang so I can’t say,” Hoseok says, taking a bite of their wedding cake.
“Oh is Huimang coming with you guys by the way? Or will she be staying here with Dahee?” Mae asks, feeding some cake to Haneul. Unlike the last wedding, he can eat some now.
“Oh I have to go back home tomorrow,” Dahee answers.
“She’ll be staying with us!” Sohyun says excitedly.
“Oh you’re not staying here?” You ask Dahee. She shakes her head no.
“I could only take a quick vacation off from work, I have to get back as soon as possible,” she says, looking at Huimang as she plays with her cousins from the other table. “I’m going to miss my little one though. She used to be at my house all the time and now I rarely see her.”
“Well maybe you’d just have to visit us often,” Sarang says.
“Or we’ll come to you,” says Hoseok.
“Maybe,” Dahee says. “I’m glad she finally has kids her age to play with though.”
“Yeah, Hana’s very excited to have Huimang with us. She’s always wanted her to be her sister,” Yoongi says. “I’m not sure how we’re going to take care of two kids, while working but we’ll figure it out.”
“If anything,” you say, “we’ll all be there to help, so you two won’t have to worry.” Everyone nods, agreeing to you.
“You guys are literally the best,” Sarang says. After that the group was quiet and you all just exchanged looks.
“Sorry I’m waiting for the part where someone announces they’re pregnant.” Taehyung says, making everyone laugh. You roll your eyes at him.
“Would be a big surprise if you had said it was you,” Jungkook says. Taehyung squints at him.
“Well unfortunately I’m not a seahorse, so I can’t get pregnant.” Jungkook’s mouth opens slightly.
“T-that’s not what I meant…” Rina puts an arm over his shoulder.
“It’s okay buddy. Your two brain cells are not working right now. It’s late.”
“He meant if you suddenly announced that you had a kid yourself,” Jin butts in. Jungkook immediately points at him.
“See hyung understood me!” Jin looks over at Jungkook and sends him a wink.
“Um, that’s my story, get your own,” Hoseok says.
“I wasn’t here for your story, what even happened,” Byul says, taking a sip of her drink. Hoseok looks over at Sarang, about to tell their story.
“Well-”
“I knocked on daddy’s door!” Huimang says out of nowhere.
“Then Huimang noona became our cousin!” Sian butts in. It seems like the kids had run out of cake to eat and now they made their way back to the grownups table.
“Long story short, Uncle Hobi had a child he never knew about and fell in love with her mom, the end. Can we go home now?” Hana says, pulling on her dad’s arm.
“The story is a lot more than just that…” Hoseok says, glaring at the kids.
“Daddy, I’m slee--” Soojin says, yawning, reaching her arms up for her dad to pick her up.
“Okay, I guess it’s nearing bedtime,” Namjoon says, picking up Moonji, who was already knocked out on the kids’ table.
“Mine’s been knocked out for a couple hours now,” you say, looking at Mingyu and his waterfall of drool on his dad’s dress shirt.
-
“Other than the scream before the kiss, he did well today,” Jimin says, walking into your room. The long day has made you three very tired. Usually, Mingyu slept between you and Jimin but tonight he seemed to be comfortable and tired enough to sleep in his own crib.
“He did,” you say sleepily. Jimin covers you with the blanket before slipping in next to you.
“He’s growing up fast isn’t he?” He says. “He was just sleeping in our bed last night and now he’s on his own,” Jimin says, laughing. You looked up at him through your sleepy eyes.
“Don’t get used to it, I’m sure he’ll be back in our bed tomorrow..”
“Yeah, probably..” Jimin puts his hand on your head, pushing your hair back, making you even more sleepy.
“Stop trying to stay awake,” he laughs as you try to open your eyes only for it to roll back, sleepiness is quickly flooding your system. “Aigoo~.” He scoots in while pulling you to his chest at the same time. You quickly melt in his arms, rubbing your cheek on his chest.
“I’m sleepy~” You mumble. Jimin laughs at you again.
“I know, I know, just go to sleep, we’ll continue in the morning..” Jimin says, listening to you as you slowly start to softly snore. He presses a kiss to your head, hugging you tightly.
“I love you~~”

2021 ANNUAL FAVORITES
Hello, and Happy New Year! Welcome to my favorite thing to do every year, my Annual Favorites List. Looking back, I was surprised at how full of a year 2021 was for new media. As much as it may have felt like a blur or a carry-over from 2020, there was so much that 2021 offered that set it distinctly apart as its own year. Let’s get into it!
As always, any media that was widely released in the calendar year 2021 (that I personally consumed within the calendar year 2021) was eligible. This was ranked on January 7th, 2022, and unchanged since then (no matter what I end up thinking about it in the future.) I gave myself an extra week this year because everything is arbitrary!
Favorite Films
I watched 72 new movies this year that were released in 2021, up from 44 in 2020. I did get to catch pretty much everything I was seriously excited for - the things still on my Watch List, aside from The Beatles: Get Back, are all films I was more mildly interested in. That’s never happened before.
It was difficult to cull my top fifteen favorites down to ten. This year had a lot to offer, from genre blockbusters and indie dramas to lush comedies and a shocking amount of musicals. For more of my thoughts on movies, and to hear in-depth reviews of these ten, listen to my podcast Cinema Bums!
10. A Quiet Place Part II 9. tick, tick... BOOM! 8. Licorice Pizza 7. Judas and the Black Messiah 6. The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun 5. The Harder They Fall 4. In the Heights 3. Drive My Car 2. West Side Story 1. The Green Knight
In 2022, I’m particularly looking forward to The Batman, Bullet Train, Nope, Don't Worry Darling, Mission: Impossible 7, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One.)
Favorite Records
Music was the hardest to whittle down to a short list this year. Recording seems to be the artistic industry least affected by the pandemic (obviously live music is largely off the table,) so it makes sense that music delivered so much more than films, video games, or anything that needs shipping or a computer chip.
Some of the absolute best records I heard all year (Tyler, The Creator; Wet; Arooj Aftab) didn’t make the list simply because I felt I hadn’t taken the proper time to get to know them as fully as I’d like to yet. Other records, like Halsey, Kacey Musgraves, and both K.Flay’s, I adored half of and the other songs didn’t connect with me very much.
It’s not lost on me that two of my favorite records of the year are EPs instead of LPs (and two more were in my top fifteen.) I know that I valued brevity this year, especially spending less time in the car or on my own. Records that were able to deliver a lot in little time really worked for me. Here are my favorites:
10. HEIGHTS - WALK THE MOON 9. Juno - Remi Wolf 8. Different Kinds of Light - Jade Bird 7. In the Meantime - Alessia Cara 6. Blame Game - Beach Bunny 5. Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night - Bleachers 4. Counterparts - Mallory Merk 3. Happier Than Ever - Billie Eilish 2. SOUR - Olivia Rodrigo 1. The House is Burning - Isaiah Rashad
Favorite Songs
As always, any song featured on one of my Favorite Records was not eligible to be one of my Favorite Songs.
10. "Silk Chiffon" - MUNA with Phoebe Bridgers 9. "Please" - Jessie Ware 8. "honey" - Halsey 7. "Altar" - Kehlani 6. "Good Ones" - Charli XCX 5. "Last Day On Earth" - beabadoobee 4. "23" - Sam Hunt 3. "Get into It (Yuh)" - Doja Cat 2. "Little Things" - Big Thief 1. "Rainforest" - Noname
Favorite Video Games
I played much less Nintendo Switch this year than I did in 2020 (and much less than I wanted to.) A lot of what I did play were local multi-player games, which I love but don’t tend to rank here. The two games I played the most were Hades and FUSER, both excellent 2020 releases that I just caught up on this year. Of the five 2021 video games where I did roll credits (I loved the first half of Metroid Dread but it was too difficult for me to beat - yet,) here are my favorites:
3. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury 2. Overboard! 1. Cruis'n Blast
Assorted Favorites
Apple and Onion (Season 2) (TV Show, on HBO Max)
Sex Education (Season 3) (TV Show, on Netflix)
The Exodus (Podcast)
The Review (Podcast)
The House of Gucci Trailer
The Kirby and the Forgotten Land Trailer
Normani and Cardi B's "Wild Side" Music Video
Chloë's "Have Mercy" Music Video (and VMA and Fallon Performances)
Demi Adejuyigbe's "9/21/21" Video
That’s all I got! I hope everyone had a great Holiday Season, and gets to watch, listen to, and play some great new stuff in 2022. Please listen to Cinema Bums! See you next year!

The Altar
Seth x reader: The Altar
WARNING: Sad af.
***
August of 1998—Pre-K
“HEY! Leave him alone!” Y/n pushes Leo, another kid in your grade, off the new kid at school.
“Y/n! What have I said about pushing other students?” Ms. Carmichael says, going up to Y/n.
“But he was hitting him! And no one was stopping it!” You yelled, stating facts to the wretched woman. She shakes her head and reaches to grab the new kid on the ground.
“Are you okay Seth?” The teacher helps the kid up. He nods his head and looks at you with a smile. “Well then, Seth, Y/n, Leo, follow me. The principal waits for you.” We follow the she-beast and you wait for your punishment. As you’re sitting outside waiting for Leo to get done with his lame of excuse, you sneak a conversation with the kid named Seth.
“Hey, Seth, right?” he looks at you with wide eyes and nods his head. “You okay? Fat butt in there is mean to everyone and tends to hurt the smaller kids.” He smiled at the name.
“I’m okay. Thank you…”
“Y/n, Y/n Y/L/n. at your service sir.” I said with a smile with a missing tooth. He smiles back.
“Woah, you already lost a tooth?”
“I lost three. See!” Y/n proceeds to show him your mouth and all your missing teeth.
“Woah…I’ve only lost two. And they’re a pain in the” looks around, “butt.” They both laugh at the word butt.
“Wanna be my best friend?” Y/n ask randomly.
“SURE!” he says with excitement.
“Ms. Y/L/N, Mr. Clearwater! No talking!” Said the receptionist.
“Sorry.” They said in unison, looking at each other trying to not laugh.
October of 2007—7th grade; Halloween
“Oh, come on Seth! Tell me! Please…I’ll be your best friend!” Seth stops, looks at me with a grin and a side-eye.
“Y/n, we’re already best friends. What!?” he laughs, bumping shoulders with you.
“Okay, yes. But come on. Just tell me!”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“…”
“…”
“Vampire.” I look at him with a blank face. Then start laughing.
“Ugh, this is why I didn’t want to tell you.” He starts walking away.
“No, sorry. I wasn’t laughing at that. I was laughing at the fact that we were almost going as the same thing dum-dum.” He stops and smiles.
“Really?” he smiles.
“Yes. I was debating as a witch or a vampire. So, since you’re the vampire, I’ll be a witch.” You smile next to him. You were low-key laughing at it, but seeing as it is Seth, and anytime he looks anything but happy always hurts you, you could never laugh at him for certain things. He wraps his arm around your shoulder and you guys walk home to get ready.
“Bet I can beat you to my house.” He says pulling you down and taking off.
“NO FAIR!” you state chasing after him.
Summer of 2010—Before 10th-grade year.
Nothing. No call, no text, not even visitation. I had gone over to the Clearwater’s house yesterday, only to be turned away by Harry.
“Sorry Y/n, Seth still isn’t well.” Sue standing behind him with a sad look on her face.
“Can you at least tell him I stopped by, and to call me? I’m worried about him.” You say with tears in your eyes. Desperate to hear from your best friend and crush. You had developed hard feelings for the small raven head boy. He was everything to you always but was more before 8th-grade year. You didn’t know or understand what was happening, but you knew your feelings for Seth were nothing but genuine strong feelings.
The funny thing was you knew he felt it back. Those times where you two would get lost in each other’s eyes, the times where a kiss was almost shared but rudely interrupted by the arguments of Leah and Sue over trivial things. The slight touches and spark that flew between the two. Not even a blind person could miss the way you two responded to each other. Hell, your moms would secretly plan your wedding to one another. They even created a budget for the both of you for damn sakes!
But at that moment, it didn’t matter. All that mattered was that boy you’ve always loved was okay. And if you could get one word from him, everything would be fine. You saw Leah coming to the front door about to head off somewhere. She stops and looks at you with a defeated look on her face.
“Y/n/n. I was just heading out. Let me walk you home.” You knew, since childhood, not to question the girl who was, basically, your older sister. She always protected you and, unknowing to her, you idolized her. Her strong will and strength you gained came from watching Leah. You looked down and nodded your head and followed her. At your porch step, she finally said something that broke you to pieces.
“You and Seth are done. I’m sorry Y/n, but…Seth…he’s not the Seth you know. I’m sorry.” She says, running off somewhere. Your eyes followed her until she became blurry with tears. You started to hyperventilate and didn’t want to be home. So, you dropped your bag and ran. You didn’t know where you just ran in the opposite direction and didn’t stop until you were on the edge of the forest. You recall Harry telling you to never step into the forest after a bunch of people from Forks have gone missing. And abiding by his rules, you don’t. You find a spot near the tree line and let it out. You stay there for a while and let all the tears fall as the warm summer rain hits your skin.
May of 2012—Senior year; Graduation day.
After that faithful day where you cried near the forest, you vowed to try to get Seth to talk to you. You were determined to have him to say something, anything, about what the hell was going on. But all you got was the cold shoulder, a growl, or his friends telling you to back off. He wouldn’t even look at you. You became bitter and he became a thing of the past. Your feelings for him came to a halt as you lost touch with the boy you’ve always loved.
It finalized in the middle of the first semester that year. You decided to wait sometime after Harry’s death to return everything. Even at the funeral, he avoided you. It was then, your feelings harden, and everyone could see it. So, it was no shock to Sue when you came by to return his things in exchange for yours. Since he wasn’t home, you took that chance to do so and left without saying a word, a note, or anything. Plus, you doubt he would’ve noticed.
But he did. When he returned home that evening, he instantly knew you were in his room. He could not only feel it, but he smelt your fragrance, he smelt you. He noticed the trinkets, sweaters, and brush all gone. Some clothes you kept in the drawers, gone. Everything was gone. He then saw the box you left on his bed. He lifts the top only to discover everything he’d ever given you. A ring with a wolf on it that you only took off when you washed the dishes, took a shower, or was asleep. His sweaters and shirts he’d leave behind if he slept over. Hair ties you both shared; you guys had to color coordinate occasionally, he had red and you had purple.
On the floor, he noticed a bag of his shoes and clothes that he doubt he could fit any more. He looked at the stuff you returned and just stood there with his eyes closed and let the tears he had been holding in go. He hated everything that he was and everything that had happened. He hated Sam and his gag rule. He hated how because of this, his father died; he never blamed Leah, he blamed his genes. But most of all, he hated how he lost the love of his life, the woman he always saw himself with, who he wanted to marry, to grow old with. He hated how he lost Y/n. He was afraid to look; if she wasn’t his imprint, it would kill him. So, Seth just watched her from afar. He still looked after her when she didn’t notice. But he couldn’t risk it, even when his gut and friends told him to.
He felt two sets of arms wrap around him. Leah and Sue held onto him as he cried all of what he had been holding in. Memories of them since they were kids, those little moments of the almost that they had with one another. The time in 8th grade where he was ready to tell her that he loved her but chickened out when Kyle Graden asked her to the Spring dance.
“She’s gone.” Had been his final words before he broke down and let the pain ooze from him.
December of 2022—Y/n Wedding
“You’re going Seth, and that’s final,” Sue told her youngest cub as he begrudgingly got ready to go to the one celebration he wishes he could run away from. Y/n wedding. When they got the invitation, Seth pulled a Jacob and hightailed out of La Push. It had taken a month or so for him to get back, and when he did, he wasn’t him. He knew he had no right to stop it, he knew he had no say in anything. But it killed him finally having this day to come. A day he knew would come eventually. Her wedding day.
“Come on man. We know it hurts, but you guys haven’t seen each other in, what, 10 years. She’s probably changed! You may realize that she was just a crush and nothing more.” Paul says, attempting to be helpful. Seth cracks a noticeably fake smile and just gets up to go to the ceremony that is being held at the nearby chapel.
Once there, they guys situate in the back and carry on a conversation while Seth looks around the place. He laughed to himself, if he remembered correctly, which he did, he knew this wasn’t Y/n idea of a wedding. It was Christmas themed, with sparkles and fake snow everywhere. You hated the idea of holiday-themed anything (especially Christmas). The overrated holiday, along with Valentine’s Day, bothered you. So seeing this Winter Wonder Land shit, made him realize, this wasn’t you. At all.
“Yeah, Y/n/n did not plan this wedding,” Leah said next to Seth. Only validating what was Seth’s inner monologue. You then herd the music start and the bridesmaid and groomsman walk next to one another towards the front of the church. The groom waiting up there for Y/n; Seth loathed him. A hand was placed on his shoulder by Sam, who made him realize that this isn’t the time nor place. Seth continues to watch the scenery as the flower girls throwing sparkles and peddles on the ground. Leah gagging at the girly-like shit they both knew you hated. Then, the music tempo changed, and the pastor motioned us to rise.
Y/n walked next to her dad down the aisle and from what Seth could see, you were a sight to stare at. Pictures were being taken and smiles were being drawn your way as you continue to the piece of shit you were to marry.
“Yeah, she really had no control. She always hated cake topper dresses.” Everyone nodded at that. You may not have known or met pack, but from what they could tell from the memories Seth and Leah had and when they watched you from afar, they knew you hated the bullshit of the wedding you were having.
The wedding continued, vowels where said, and a kiss was shared. But that’s not what broke Seth, no, out of everything, it's not what killed him. When you turned after being pronounced as Mrs. Forayed, somehow, by the universe screaming, Seth was hit with the realization of his mistake. Air left his body as he fell dead weight to the seat beneath him. The second your eyes locked, everything slowed down, time stopped, even your heart skipped a beat. There was no one in that room except you two and the shadow of regret clouding over him and the love breaking through your heart for the boy you love.
“Seth…Are you-” Jacob said.
“It was her…” Everyone looked at one another, then at you. Your eyes didn’t leave that spot and you felt something stir within you. The arm wrapped around your waist pulled you back to reality as you faked a smile at your husband. Feeling bad that it is not him you want but knowing that you can’t turn back.
Seth left in a hurry, leaving everyone without a second thought. While in the car on her way to the reception, a howl in the distance could be heard.
If only he looked at her once, it would have been them at the altar.

Sincerely, Me [Ushijima x Reader]
Note: Sorry, but I really wanted to write something sad :( I'm sorry if you do end up crying? I mean I tried to make it really sad, and I really did start crying towards the end. I'm not good at these, but this was a little experiment. I tried with Ushijima's character, but yeah, I hope I portrayed him somewhat. He's not a crying character, but y'knowwww oh well haha. Please enjoy :)
Summary: All you wanted for Wakatoshi was happiness and so you conveyed them through your letters.
"Wakatoshi, are you sure you don't need help?" Tendou questioned the olive haired man. Wakatoshi looked up from where he sat, a big, wide box in his hands.
"I am fine. This is the last of her stuff," Wakatoshi responded dully. The red haired man nodded and then closed the door to his room. The professional volleyball player stared at the box that he had taken out of the closet. It was hidden well under some blankets, and on the surface was written 'To my darling, Ushijima Wakatoshi <3'. This was strange. Why was this here? Wakatoshi opened the box and he was faced with a bunch of envelopes. They were stacked on top of each other neatly. The first envelope that he saw caught his eyes. Open when you miss me. His big fingers picked up the envelope and read the one beneath it. Open on your 24th birthday. Then another, open when you feel lost. And another, open when you have a girlfriend/lover. Before he knew it, his view became blurry as tear drops fell from his eyes and stained the envelopes in his hands.
-
Dear Toshi,
You miss me? Awh, of course you do :). You know what? I miss you as well, my love. So much. I miss you so much. But, just because you miss me does not mean you make yourself miserable or isolate yourself from others. I will always be there for you, even if one day I am not there physically. I will always be beside you no matter what, Wakatoshi. My beloved. I love you forever <3
Sincerely, [Name]
Wakatoshi's tears fell freely as he re-read the letter you had written. The letter was a little stale, showing that you had been crying as you wrote this letter for him. He could see the dried drops of tears on a few spots and his left hand clenched his chest, the pain becoming unbearable. Since you've been gone, the apartment had felt so much bigger, and so lonely. He very much missed you. If only you were here.
-
Dear Toshi~,
Wow! Happiest Birthday, my love! August 13, the day the love of my life was born into this beautiful world! And you're even 24 years old!!!!! You old man :) I hope your day was the best and that you celebrated with all your friends and family. I am sorry that I will not be spending your 24th birthday with you, but I am, maybe spiritually? haha Just thinking back on your 23rd birthday, it was such a beautiful day. Just like your other birthdays that we celebrated! And, I am sure today is just as beautiful as the last few years. Why you wonder? Well, simply because it is the day you were born and that is beautiful enough. I love you forvever, Toshi <3
Sincerely, [Name]
Wakatoshi smiled to himself. The letters you had written to him always made him happy. Today was August 13, his birthday. He took your advice and made sure he did not isolate himself and he indeed had a great day with everyone he was close to. He even visited you earlier in the morning, updating you on what you missed. It had been a whole two months without you, and it was hard, but he was trying. “Ushiwaka, practice is starting,” Kageyama announced, peeking his head in the men’s locker room. Wakatoshi nodded, not looking back at the black haired setter.
”Okay,” he responded, and neatly folded the letter and shoved it back in its envelope before stuffing it gently in his gym bag. Putting his bag in the locker, he left the locker room and into the gym, where practice with the Schweiden Adler's awaited.
”Happy birthday, Ushiwaka!” His teammates cheered and the olive haired man smiled a little. He could hear your sweet voice wishing him a happy birthday along with his teammates.
-
Dear my Toshi,
Feeling lost? No worries, your light is here :) I don’t know what happened, but guess what? Im right here, and you’ll be okay. You’re Ushijima Wakatoshi, the most powerful spider spiker (ugh I misspelled that. Please ignore that!) that I know! Feeling lost will happen, and it’s okay because nothing is perfect. Im confident that you know what to do and I’m proud of you. Super proud, love. I’ll always be your number one supporter. I hope I was able to help a little. I love you forever, Waka (WAKANDA haha jk ok I’ll stop)
Sincerely, [Name]
Wakatoshi snorted a little, shaking his head side to side. He could hear you reading this in such a goofy voice, and he immediately felt better, the tension in his shoulders disappearing. He didn’t feel so upset anymore. He leaned back in his bed, his right hand holding the letter and his left hand resting on the spot you used to sleep. It felt as if you were right next to him, telling him that everything was going to be okay.
-
Dear Toshi <3,
I’m assuming you have a girlfriend now :) and I hope she is making you happy. Very happy. I’m so happy and proud of you, Toshi. How is she like? Is she treating you well? Are you treating her well? I hope she’s able to understand a blunt man like you. And, don’t worry if I’m depressed about it, because I assure you that I’m the happiest person in the world. You deserve all the happiness in the world and all the love. Writing this, I expected to feel jealous and maybe a little petty, but I'm surprised I am happy. And, I am not crying, I'm serious. I know I said at least once that if you had a gf after I died, I'd haunt you, but I lied. I would never do that to you. I only want the best for you, love. I hope the both of you take care of each other forever and never stop loving each other. Just like how I will never stop loving you forever.
Sincerely, [Name]
Wakatoshi could feel his heart warm, and his thumb gently stroked against the smeared dry tear drop on the letter. You lied. You were crying while writing this and you definitely tried to dry off your tear, but clearly failed. "Ushijima, I finished making our dinner," his girlfriend, Yui, announced, peeking her head out into his room. Her long black hair swayed and her emerald orbs shined. Wakatoshi nodded in response and she smiled, her eyes lingering on the letter before walking back to the kitchen. Wakatoshi stood up from his bed and went to his closet to put the opened envelope inside the box. He looked at the left side, where many unopened envelopes laid, and the right side, where some of the opened envelopes settled. He wondered how much there were, but he decided that he would go through it everyday, picking one to read.
"I miss you," he muttered, stroking the box's surface. After putting the box back into the closet, he left to the kitchen, where someone else waited for him. As he arrived to the kitchen table, where his favorite dish lay, he felt nostalgic. When was the last time someone else cooked for him? Looking at Yui, he imagined her being you, smiling at him and telling him to hurry up and eat. But, Yui was not you. . .and that was okay. No one could be you. Wakatoshi scooped up some rice, sauce, and beef, then he shoved it into his mouth. Yui watched in anticipation, waiting for him to speak. "It's delicious," he spoke after chewing the remains in his mouth and looked at her. She smiled, pink dusting her cheeks.
"I'm glad." Behind Yui's head was a picture frame of you, smiling, throwing leaves in the air. Wakatoshi felt his heart pause for a second, and it felt as if you were cheering him on. Cheering him on to a new beginning. He chuckled, startling Yui, who's eyes grew wide, and lips agape.
"Thank you, Yui," Wakatoshi sincerely said. Yui's eyes softened as she watched him eat.
"Yea. . .any time."

Dear my beloved, Toshi,
Congratulations on your wedding, my beloved! I sincerely wish you and your wife a successful and happy life. You've grown so much, I'm sure. I am so excited for you to start your own family! Your kids will be so cute, and will be super strong! Just like you! Well, I'm sure you looked handsome standing near the altar or will look handsome near the altar. I'm not sure if you're reading this before or after your wedding, but anyways yeah. If only I was able to see that :( But, this isn't about me, so I'll move along haha! Anyways, as you marry your significant other, I hope you love her with all your heart and soul. (You better! >:( better treat your woman well!) And, help around with the house if you can. I know you're a professional athlete, but I'm sure you have time in your hands to help around! Congratulations on your new chapter in life-- building a family <3. The sound of that definitely makes me envious, but oh well :) I love you forever~
Sincerely, [Name]
The olive haired man brought a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose as tears began to well up. You were always cheering him on in the letters, always encouraging him to move along. He felt guilty. Guilty because he was happy, but he knew that you wanted him to be. "Wakatoshi?" Wakatoshi quickly blinked his tears away and looked up from his seat, setting the letter down on the small table in front of him.
"Oh, Tendou."
"You're not even fully dressed. Get dressed," the red head sighed and walked over to the giant. Wakatoshi stood up and began to loop the tie that hung around his neck, while looking in the body mirror. Tendou looked down at the letter and he sighed once again. He knew what they were, since the olive haired man told him. "How many letters did she write?"
"I don't know. I just find one and read it."
"But, it's been a year," Tendou stated, furrowing his brows.
"Yea. . .I know," he muttered, finishing with his tie. "That letter was for my wedding." Tendou lightly patted the man's shoulder, then squeezed it to give him comfort.
"Are you going to keep them forever?"
Wakatoshi didn't answer, and instead, he shrugged on his blazer.
-
Dear Ushijima Wakatoshi,
I'm sure you're wondering why I wrote all these letters. Hmmmm, why? Well, because maybe I didn't want you forgetting me :) haha just kidding. Just cause. I did it just because. I wanted you to know that I will be beside you every step you take throughout your life. I don't mean it in a creepy way, but you know what I mean? No, you don't and I'm sure you're confused by what I'm saying, but whatever! You're probably wondering when I wrote these? Well, surprise surprise, I wrote it secretly. Sometimes I wrote them when you were knocked out, so that I could watch you sleep while I wrote, and the other times, just whenever. I know it's a lot of letters, but I don't care. But, this is the last letter that I will write. Wakatoshi, you've made these past five years the best years in my life. We talked for a year after meeting in our second year, and you finally asked me out during our third year of high school :) Every second--every moment I spent with you was the best. I'm proud to say that I'm happy and that I have no regrets. Just having to be Ushijima Wakatoshi's girlfriend was the best thing ever. But, now, I am just a memory, and someone from the past. You now have a loving family, a successful career, and an amazing life, I'm sure. I can't believe I am crying so hard right now, but let me be selfish for a few sentences, yeah? I wish I was the one married to you and carrying your kids. I wish I was the one taking care of the house as you left to play your games. I wish I was the one being there for your downfalls. I wish I was the one helping and watching our kids grow. I wish I was the one standing physically beside you right now. I wish I was the only woman you ever loved. I wish I was alive. But, I know that it will never happen and that's okay. Because I wouldn't wish for anything better than you being happy and striving. I love you Toshi, very much so. Very, very, very much so. I hope you remember me as someone who loved you so much. If only life wasn't so cruel. And so, here again, I will wish you a happy, happy long life, Toshi. I love you. . .forever.
Sincerely, me, [Name] [Last] <3
The whole letter was covered in dried tear drops that it became stale and some of the words were smeared. Wet drops fell on the paper as Wakatoshi covered his face in his hands, his elbows on either side of the paper. He cried silently, his shoulders shaking. He'd never forget you, a loving and sincere soul, who only wanted happiness for him. His forever love who will never come back. He didn't bother to wipe his tears, and instead, he neatly stuffed it in the envelope and into the box of opened envelopes. He took one more look at the neatly stacked envelopes and then slowly closed the box. He carefully slid it into the closet and he wiped his eyes. It was as if he was finally saying goodbye to [Name].
Then, he closed the closet, leaving the box in the darkness.

{Here’s a taste of the comic I’m working on. Enjoy.} Dawn.
Another morning to wake up in a cold lonely bed. It wasn't always like this. Waking up to a warm loving partner -his arms would always hold her so close to make sure she was safe and state that she was his. The deep growl in his throat from the air he inhaled and exhaled was like music to her ears whilst her head laid upon his expanding chest. The heart beat that sang along with the music was always something she looked forward to when waking up.
"Stacy." called out a voice.
"I'm up, I'm up." She sighs.
Stacy sits up to the sound of her sister and walks out of her room. Her hair is a mess and she looks as though she hadn't gotten proper sleep. Opening the door there are empty whiskey bottles and one half drank from the night before.
"Yes, little sister, how can I help you this fine morning?"
"I'm going to be gone for a couple days, can you please. Please. Stop moping in bed, take care of YOUR kids, and help clean this apartment while I'm away. This whole....scenario you put yourself in, needs to stop. My niece and nephew need their mother. Not just their aunt."
Stacy lets out an annoyed sigh as her sister continues ranting over her. Finally she had enough to listen to and rolls her eyes.
"Fine. I'll get cleaned up and.. Do what I can."
"Not just what you can. Do what needs to get done. You left HIM. You shouldn't even be sobbing over that... loser of a man."
What does she know. She hadn't fallen in love once and just cared about money. Finally, Stacy's sister packs up her bags and leaves to God knows where. Maybe she just needed a vacation from babysitting all the time while Stacy was out of commission to take care of her kids. She isn't wrong though. It was her decision to leave him. Left him because he couldn't even take care of his family and chased a dream that wasn't earning them support. All that exhaustion from fighting just to get him to understand that he should have been working a real job just to take care of his family.
A quick look in the mirror and she's just at fault. She hadn't been there for her kids in almost 2 years. That's not fair to them to lose their father and mother like this. Stacy sets her mind to getting herself cleaned up and into some clean clothes, kicking herself into motivation.
"Ok. Good first step. Let's check on the little ones." She smiles.
It feels like she had been gone for far too long as if returning from her travels where they were out of her reach. She walks upstairs to the lone room where they sleep. She hears giggling. Her heart warms up and she peeks the door open to see them playing with their toys.
"Morning, you two" She sang.
The kids shot up in excitement to see that their mother is doing better.
"Mom!" They both shout and run with a wide open hug to embrace their mother once more. Stacy tears up with joy and feels happy they missed her but sorry for not being around when they needed her.
"Are you feeling better mommy?" the little girl asked with worry.
"I'm feeling much better, darlings. Much much better. I think it's time to get you both ready for school but after school, what do you say we go out for ice cream? A nice treat to make up for me not being around."
"Okay!" They cheered and ran over to grab their backpacks, grab their lunch boxes, and hand them over to get packed for the day.
Stacy had gone to the kitchen to fix up some sandwiches, put grapes in baggies, and pack them all in the lunchboxes along with their favorite juice. All set and they stand at the door awaiting for their kisses goodbye. Her son, however, seeming a little sad.
"Hunter? What's wrong sweetie?"
"I really miss dad.."
"Me too.." the little girl interrupts.
Stacy sighs seeing her kids so heart broken and honestly she misses him too. He may not have been the greatest in supporting them but he was a wonderful father and loving husband. Having each other shouldn't that have been enough?
"I know, darlings.. But this is for the best.."
The children don't answer after that. They take their lunch boxes in silence and leave before they miss their bus leaving Stacy alone in the apartment. Her sigh breaks the silence and she brushes her fingers through her hair pulling it back into a pony tail. She can't lose this motivation now. She has to get better. For them.
Stacy makes her way back to the kitchen to get it cleaned, then came the vacuuming for the carpet, then clearing out some boxes that are in the way. She wiped down the bookshelf that was covered in dust to stack her packed cook books, collected articles, and some romance novels. The last book caught her attention. Her wedding album. Her heart began to race to the sight of it. She couldn't tell if this was her guilty conscience speaking or the love that never left. She sits down at the couch giving the front cover a long look. "Two halves of a heart finally one" it said on the cover.
She bites her lip and finally flips the heavy cover open. It had it all. From the walkway to the altar, from the church to the after party, all adding up to their honeymoon. Each one carried a bright smile that no darkness could hide. It made Stacy smile and hurt all at once. She couldn't help but feel it was all her fault.
"Why did I do this to them?" Her broken voice let out. "All because finance was the upmost importance, did it have to end this way?"
It's at this point tears begin to stream down her face. No matter how many times she wiped her eyes more just seem to escape through her fingers. She gave out a few sniffles before looking over at another opened box. How ironic. It was the box that carried her jewelry with her wedding band inside. As if she needed more of a push in this stressful pressure. She couldn't stand it, it's at this point she's boiling over.
"I have to talk to him. I have to make things right."
Stacy has made up her mind. This whole thing was a mistake and she should have known once she had picked up the first whiskey bottle after her divorce papers were approved. She never thought he would sign them. She had hoped that he had fought harder for them even after his incident. He almost died because of her and her fear just kept her away from him. All she could think of was how she could have put on her 'big boy pants' and walked in that recovery room to give him a piece of her mind for how stupid he was to pull such foolish actions. It tore her apart knowing that he was in his death bed.
Fighting hesitation, Stacy finally pulls through and grabs her phone. She reads over her horrid half ass written replies. She takes a breath and begins her text-
"Chase, I can't do this anymore I -

See you soon."
-send-
She lets out a heavy sigh now thinking 'this was such a bad idea'. After everything why would he want to go anywhere near her, she thought to herself. Her hands now cupped to her face unable to delete the message before he could see it.
Ting- her notification went off. The sound made her heart sink to the pit of her stomach.
-
"I'll come over sooner than 4! It'll be such a great surprise for them! Thank you, babe! Omw!"
-
"Babe.." She read out loud. Her worry suddenly got waved over with some gentle laughs and a smile upon seeing that part of the text. She told him never to call her that again, but this time she's overjoyed to see that he hasn't stopped. Now it is absolute that she has to get everything straightened up. She finished up with the rest of the boxes giving some a quick glance while putting the valuables properly away.
"Now to clean up my bedr-"
CRASH!
Stacy jumps to the sudden unexpected sound. It came from down the hall. Her room. After a few steps to inspect the noise she stops dead in her tracks. Something doesn't feel right. Everything in her gut is telling her to be cautious but she doesn't know why. She's sure she's alone in the apartment. Maybe it was a box that wasn't sat up right in the room.
"H-hello?"
The hall seems much darker than the usual. She could have sworn she left the blinds opened in the rooms to light up the apartment. It's no where close to dusk, why is it so dark?
"Is someone there?" Stacy starts to think she's just overreacting to something that was probably just a natural cause. She starts to relax and walk towards the sound after allowing the silence to verify she was alone. Upon entering the room it looks as though nothing fell over. She reopened the blinds to get a better look -reviewing the room top to bottom. Nothing fell over and she becomes even more confused. She shrugs it off and grabs a trash bag to collect the bottles that she had piled in her room and sits them down to throw them later. She doesn't want to risk Chase catching her in the act of her crimes. She smiles seeing that everything is turning for the better and hopefully her and Chase can make a compromise when he comes over.
Ting- Chase had messaged her again.
Hearing her phone go off she rolls her eyes with a smile wondering what the message says now. He better not be cancelling and chickened out. She turns to exit the room.
CLACK!
She stops right at the door frame. The blinds have shut rapidly putting Stacy back in darkness. She's stuck in place. Too scared to turn. Too scared to move. It's till she felt a cold breath graze at the back of her neck and the strands of her hair brushing loosely against her skin. Shaking, she slowly turns her head seeing an outline of someone right at her back -but it wasn't human. The green glow of its eyes made that perfectly clear to her. It mimicked the face of her ex-husband and she was in pure shock.
Finally, Stacy falls back dragging herself away from this creature trying to let out a scream but the shock has her stuttering.
It takes a step closer, and that alone made Stacy shoot back up on her feet to run but she wasn't fast enough. Its hand caught her from behind, covering over her mouth tightly keeping her in place. She can feel its nails pressing against her cheek while she lets out a whimper followed by muffled pleas. Suddenly, her words couldn't leave her lips. A swift swipe across her throat, and she's reaching for her neck as she struggles to breathe. Her muscles in her throat push up an iron taste to her tongue and she can't hold it in her mouth -the red fluid drips out and down her chin.
The creature lets her go with no care of letting Stacy fall on the floor, bleeding out pathetically at its feet. She crawls for her phone trying to reach for help but is forced onto her back, facing the creature once more. She stares in fear till her twitching body finally lets go and her eyes go dim.
***
Slam.
The car door could give him away easily to announce his arrival. Chase had straightened himself up and had bought Stacy's favorite flowers. One of the things that made him late aside from practicing in his car for 30 minutes on how to talk to his ex-wife after a year and a half. He's nervous like a child going on their first loop on a roller coaster. That argument of 'you can do it' 'no I can't' looping over and over in his head. He's here now and there is no turning back. Chase takes a breath and proceeds to take the stairs till he reaches the floor of Stacy's sister's apartment.
"Ok. Ok.. Here we go.. You can do this, Chase.. Win her back.."
Knock Kno- creeeeek
The door opened. Chase's face immediately furrows with confused. That's not normal, maybe the kids didn't latch the door properly when entering. He pushes the door to further open it, finding it dark inside.
"Stacy? Stacy I'm here." He calls out to her.
Chase doesn't hear anyone answer to him but the deafening sounds of silence. He decides to walk inside and sit his stuff down on the counter. At the corner of his eye he spots a red puddle soaked into the carpet. He felt cold and the color drains from his face once he saw it. He gulps hoping that it wasn't what he thought it was, but to his horror his hope was immediately shattered once he saw Stacy lying lifeless on the floor.
"STACY!!!" He hurries to her side even though it was too late. "Oh God.. No..NO!!" He cries.
Uncontrollable tears pour down his face. Chase holds her tightly rocking back and forth -not giving a damn of getting blood all over him. This had to be a nightmare, a glimpse of his own personal hell, karma striking him where it hurt most.
"AAAAH!"
"Dawn?" Chase snaps out of his grief after hearing his little girl scream. "KIDS!!"
He lays his deceased love down and hurriedly gets himself part way up the stairs to reach his kids.
"Shit.. It's dark.."
He pulls out a lighter and treads carefully not knowing if this monster could be waiting for him around the corner. Chase finally reaches the top, a red light illuminating out of the kids room. He focus' on the figure that stands in the middle of the door way. Chase is struck once he sees its face and its devilish grin.
"Wh-Where are they?! What do you want from me?!!"

It Had To Be You XLIX
Chapter Forty Nine: It Had To Be You
Summary: It’s finally time for you and Tyler to get married. But what’s a wedding without some drama?
Warning: Angst, language, maybe some fluff but not likely, trigger warning for mention of ED
Author’s Note: Y’all I was literally bawling as I wrote this. Like so much so that I had to stop and save it, so I could finish crying and then return to it. I don’t know how many of you saw it coming, but here we are. One chapter left and I can honestly say I didn’t really see it coming. The length of the series that is. I really do appreciate everyone’s love for this series; it’s been up and down for me where some days I love writing it and other days I just can’t bring myself to make these characters co-exist. I wanted there to be closure, because at the very least, it’s what these two deserved but I also needed a good dose of angst to send this series off -- since that’s pretty much what it was built on. So, yes, this chapter is INCREDIBLY, EXCEPTIONALLY, almost OUTRAGEOUSLY long and it took a lot of time to write but it was extremely necessary! Enjoy these last two chapters and thank you again for all your support.

Tyler’s P.O.V.
You woke up in your mom’s guest room and, for a second, thought it was just another day but when your sisters came barrelling into the room to wake you up, you jumped up in excitement.
“YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED TODAY!” Candace shouted
“I KNOW!” you replied. Candace made some joke about how normally she would expect you to stay calm, cool and collected and that it was typically the girl in the relationship who was this excited on their wedding day.
“I mean don’t get me wrong, it’s adorable,” she laughed, “I just didn’t expect it I guess”
“Well what can I say?” you smiled, “I love (Y/N) and I’m so lucky to be the one she chose. The one who gets to marry her.” Candace smiled at you as you cooed over your fiancée just as your mom walked in
“What are you still doing in here?!” she exclaimed
“What?” you answered
“You should be getting ready!”
“I’m getting there, Ma,” you chuckled, “don’t worry!” She huffed as if to say ‘you’re not taking this seriously’ before walking out of the room, throwing her arms up as she did so and your head fell back while Candace followed her out of the room. Shortly after, you made your way to the kitchen for some breakfast
“So...” your mom started, Cassidy and Candace looking at you, “how you feeling?”
“Good,” you smiled, a blush creeping on your cheeks, “really good.”
“Aww” the girls shrieked, making the dogs jump up from where they were sleeping and head to where they were
“You guys are scaring the dogs!” you chirped and they laughed
“You’re just so cute!” Cassidy cooed
“I never thought you’d be getting married...” your mom started to tear up
“Mom...” you started, waving your hands to get her to stop as you walked over to her, “don’t start crying now. Please. There’s so much day left.”
“I’m just so happy,” she sobbed, “that you found the person you want to be with. And I’m so happy she is so amazing to you and to us. I just love you both so much.”
“Okay, mom,” you said, hugging her as she continued to cry into your shoulder, “I have to go take a shower now. I love you. Save the tears for the ceremony okay?” She nodded once and you kissed the top of her head to comfort her before you walked away.
xx
You woke up with a huge grin on your face. Even after seeing Kate on Tyler’s story last night, knowing that she was with him, you had managed to put it out of your mind and you were back to being excited about marrying the man you loved. You rushed into the shower because your day was planned to the last millisecond, from hair and makeup to making sure the catering, décor and everything else was set and ready to go.
“Alright...” Karen said through the door as you showered, “we’ve got your hair and makeup at the same time, Diana is taking care of all the Bridesmaids dresses and their hair and makeup. You’ll be in separate rooms here while you get them done and then we’ll do pictures. Your flowers are on their way from the florist and caterers will be here by the time you're ready to get dressed.” She continued to talk at you but you had to put your head back under the water to wash out the conditioner in your hair that you didn’t hear what she said.
“Okay, I’m going as fast as I can” you laughed as you opened the door, noticing people walking around behind her. Once you had put on some lotion and the silky robe with ‘Bride’ embellished on the back, you followed Karen into the room where you would be getting ready.
“If you need anything, call me,” she said, “but hopefully you won’t need anything. I’ll send the photographer in once the hair and makeup people are here and they’ll kind of just roam around you and take some shots. They’ll do the same outside.”
“Got it.” You smiled, letting out a sigh of relief when she finally walked away. The next two hours were a whirlwind of photos and makeup and hair and gifts for your Bridesmaids before finally getting into your dress so you and Tyler could exchange notes.
“Do you still want to keep everything a secret?” he asked from where he stood behind the door, handing his note to you without looking over the door
“What do you mean?” you smiled to yourself as you handed him your note
“The dress? Is it going to be a surprise until I’m at the altar?” he laughed
“You really think you can handle it right now?” You looked at Jackie who had brought over the photographer to capture the moment that you and Tyler were reading your letters
“Oh I’m ready,” he smirked, “are you?” Jackie seemed to tell the photographer that you two were going to look at each other first before reading the letters and just as you stepped forward he stopped you
“It would be a much better picture if you two revealed yourself to each other after you’d read the letters. Much more romantic.” You nodded and asked if Tyler was ready
“More than you know, babe.” You could hear the smirk on his face and you chuckled to yourself as you opened the envelope and read his note to you, while he stood silently reading your note to him.
(Y/N);
I never thought I’d meet someone who made me reconsider so many of my life choices but from the moment I met you, I knew you were going to change my life forever. From thinking I never wanted to get married to never wanting to let a minute go by that we weren’t with each other, you’re the one for me. You’re it. The sound of your voice over a call when I’m on the road, the smell of your favourite perfume, that little giggle you make when you watch dog videos on Youtube; these are the things that I cherish and crave when we’re apart and when we’re together. I’m so thankful to be part of your life and I feel so immensely lucky to get to call myself your husband, or I will be once the ‘I do’s’ are done. I know we’ve had our ups and downs and I know our life together won’t be without it’s challenges if for no other reason than our schedules but I wouldn’t want to face those challenges with anyone but you.
I love you so much,
Tyler.
xx
Tyler’s P.O.V.
You opened the letter from (Y/N) and took a deep breath before reading it while you listened to her silently sob as she read your letter to her.
My Dearest Tyler,
I’ll admit when I first met you, I didn’t think too much of you. I knew your reputation in Boston and I let that sway a lot of my opinion of you but you soon proved me wrong and I have never been so grateful for anything in my whole life. Because it gave me you. Yes, I ignored my feelings for you because I was with someone else, but for so much of my life, you’ve been one of the only people who have made me feel safe and loved and who I could fully trust. It took us a long time to get where we are today -- bad break ups, family tragedies, things I’d like to never speak of again -- but we’re here, we made it. It’s you and me, babe. And I couldn’t be happier. I know I can be a lot to handle most days and I know that I drive you crazy more than you’d probably like to admit, just know that it’s all done out of love. Because I do love you. No matter what I might say or do, I’ll always love you.
You’ll always be the one who changed everything.
You’ll always be the one I never want to lose.
You’ll always be the one I love the most.
To the sun and the moon and the stars, I love you, baby.
(Y/N), xo
You wiped away a few stray tears as you folded up the piece of paper, your mom soon telling you it was time to reveal yourselves to each other.
“You two ready?” she asked
“Just give me a minute,” you heard (Y/N) laugh, “I think I’ve ruined my makeup!”
“You look great!” your mom replied and (Y/N) laughed again, taking a deep breath before finally agreeing to come out. The photographer clicking photos continuously as both of you stepped out from where you stood, your hand quickly raised to cover your mouth; you couldn’t believe how beautiful she looked and that the day was finally here.
“You look...” you stammered, “gorgeous.” She blushed at your words, the smile on her face growing each second before she took your hands lightly in hers.
“You look so handsome” she smiled, moving closer to you for a kiss which your mom and the photographer both stopped.
“Not until the ‘I Do’s’!” Your mom yelled and (Y/N) laughed
“She’s right.” (Y/N) added, squeezing your hands, “I should probably go check on the girls anyway.” You didn’t want to let her go just yet, so you held onto her hand as she walked away.
“That’s a great shot” you heard the photographer say to your mom and she was quick to agree so you decided to give your opinion on it.
“It looks beautiful,” you said, furrowing your brow as you continued to examine the photo, “but she looks kinda sad doesn’t she? I don’t know... it just looks like she’s leaving me...”
xx
You walked back to find your Bridesmaids getting their finishing touches done before being taken to an area by the lake where the photographer wanted some shots of the entire wedding party as guests made their way into the backyard where the ceremony would be; Tyler gathered his Groomsmen and your Bridesmaids mirrored their positions beside you when the photographer began rearranging everyone. You and Tyler laughed at the commotion surrounding the two of you but were eventually able to reel everyone in for a few good photos.
“Okay,” Tyler breathed, “I think it’s time. I’ll see you up there.” He kissed your hands before walking up the hill toward the house, looking back only once to smile at you and you smiled back before taking a deep breath of your own as your Bridesmaids started their journey to the house
“You coming?” Lucy asked
“Of course. I’ll be there in a second,” you laughed, “I just wanna practice my vows once.” Lucy nodded and continued up the hill with the other girls. You looked out at the horizon, smoothing the front of your dress to calm the nerves you were starting to feel.
“You look beautiful” Chris spoke softly, leading you to look over your shoulder to meet his smile. You slowly turned around to let him see you and dropped your eyes to the ground, catching glimpses of the dress as your eyes scanned the ground.
“Thank you,” you smiled before finally looking up at him, “you look very handsome.”
“Thank you.” he replied and outstretched his hand to you to get you to walk up with him, “It’s time for you to get married.” Just as the two of you reached the front door, Chris said there was something he forgot to give you but it was in his car so he went to grab it, your eyes following him as he ran to where his car was parked; turning around and bumping into someone hastily
“I’m so sorry!” you exclaimed
“No it’s my fault. I must not have...” Kate replied, trailing off when she saw it was you and realizing that you might not have known that she was going to be there
“Kate..?” was all you could muster and she gave you an awkward closed mouth smile before making her way into the backyard to find a seat. You stayed still for a moment, waiting for Chris to come back, until Kate turned around once more
“You look lovely,” she said, “Tyler’s a really lucky guy...” The words sounded sincere so you thanked her and watched as she disappeared around the corner when a sudden rush of doubt washed over you and you ran into your bedroom. You stood in front of the floor length mirror, examining the intricate details of lace and tulle and beading on your custom-made dress, training yourself to look at yourself in the dress. When you finally met your eyes in the mirror, you couldn’t connect the beauty of the dress to the girl you saw wearing it. Your mind kept wandering to what everyone would think when they saw you, or what you convinced yourself they’d think
“Hey,” Chris called, running to find you, “where did you go? I was only gone for a minute and I come back but you’re not...” You turned to him with a slow tear running from the corner of your eye
“Is this a mistake Chris?” you cried and he shook his head
“No.” he stated simply, but sympathetically as he walked slowly toward you, “This is not a mistake.” You dropped your head, shaking it to clear your thoughts, and Chris pulled you in for a hug that you could only melt into. When he pulled away from the hug, he handed you a small box, “this belonged to your dad.” You opened the box to find an old guitar pick
“I didn’t know he played guitar?”
“Oh yeah. He was pretty good too. But this one pick was really special to him. So when he had you and Lucy, he wanted to make sure it would be special to you both as well.” He said and you furrowed your brow when you looked up at him, “turn it over.” You did as he said
“I love you” the words on the pick read, in your dads messy writing and you brought your hand to your mouth to stop from sobbing.
“He would be so proud of you.” Chris said, leading you to look up at him and frown
“I miss them so much” You replied while Chris encouraged you to grab his arm and start to walk to the altar. The two of you stopped just in front of the door before you were met by your bridal party.
“Didn’t think you were gonna make it” Katie joked
“Well I did. I’m here” you smiled
“Alright. Let’s do this” Cassidy exclaimed
“Let’s get you married!” Candace added while the girls lined up with Tyler’s Groomsmen to walk down the aisle. As they made their way two by two to the altar, you took a deep breath before biting your lip
“You ready?” Lucy asked, Jesse trying his best not to butt into the conversation as her arm was interlocked with his
“Yes” you smiled, a small sigh leaving your voice
“We’ll see you up there” Jesse winked as he nodded to Lucy so they could walk down the aisle to meet Tyler at the altar; she mouthed a quick ‘you got this’ before walking down and just like that, the music changed and it was finally your turn. When the door finally opened, you looked up and saw Tyler smiling back to you. And the whole world faded away.
xx
Tyler’s P.O.V.
You had no idea what had taken so long but when you finally saw her standing at the end of the aisle in her dress, about to walk toward you, you didn’t care about anything other than how beautiful she was. And how much you loved her.
“Hi,” you whispered when she finally met you at the altar, “I missed you.” She reciprocated your smile before mouthing ‘I’m sorry’ to which you just shook your head before the ceremony officially started. The two of you gazed at each other while the officiant spoke about marriage and what it meant to make this commitment to each other. Your eyes never left (Y/N)’s, even when she began to blush and press her lips together to stop herself from laughing.
“(Y/N) and Tyler have written their vows today. Have you decided who would like to go first?” The officiant asked
“Ladies first, always.” You chuckled while (Y/N) fumbled with her note card
“I had to bring it with me or I knew I’d forget,” she confessed, “I’m nervous. I didn’t think I’d be this nervous.” She tried to catch her breath and you smiled at her nervousness
“It’s okay, love, take your time.” You said, reassuringly, allowing her to slow down and steady herself and her breathing.
“Tyler; I wrote and rewrote these vows a million times. Trying to make them perfect. Trying to make them the most amazing words you’ll ever hear and the most beautiful vows anyone, anywhere, will ever hear. Which only made them cheesy and full of things like ‘I’ll make you laugh when you’re sad,’ and ‘I’ll walk the dogs when you can’t,’ which is true. I’ll do both of those things, but I would anyway,” the room laughed and she smiled at you before continuing, making sure to look at you as much as she could, “so when it came time for me to really write my vows to you, I scrapped everything and wrote five words.
It Had To Be You.
There was no one else in my life that I would ever find that made me feel the way you do. No matter how many times we fought or disagreed or ignored our feelings for each other, you were always the person I imagined myself with. I never thought that I... I would find someone who looked at me the way I wanted to be looked at, someone who made me feel seen. Until you. You changed everything for me. You changed the way I looked at myself and the way I looked at relationships. You’ve become this amazing person, you’ve grown into such an amazing man and I’m so proud that I’ve gotten to be part of that journey. Through the ups and downs, the fights and the make-ups and everything in between, you’ve been so wonderful to me. And I love you for that. It was never going to be anyone else. I can’t imagine a better person to share my life with, to be in love with. It Had To Be You. I knew it from the second we met, It Had To Be You.” She tilted her head to the side and smiled sheepishly at you before clutching your hands to steady her
“Tyler...” the officiant continued, “it’s your turn.” You laughed at his statement but cleared your throat to say your vows.
“(Y/N)...” you started, “falling in love with you came suddenly and unexpectedly. Loving you, however, was slow and sometimes infuriating.” You smiled as she gasped at your words, jokingly pulling her hands away from yours for a moment, “but I know,” you continued, “that love is worth fighting for. So, I fought. and fought. and begged. and hoped. and wished that I could keep fighting forever. Because I loved you so much it scared me to not have you with me. When the worst would happen and I thought we wouldn’t make it, my heart broke. Only to get put back together again when you showed up at my door and fell into my arms. The place where you fit so perfectly. I loved you before I even knew that I could love again. Before I even knew I wanted to love again. You snuck into my life when I was trying to figure out who I needed to be and how I needed to change and you were like this breath of fresh air. Exactly what I needed. You stayed with me when I lost the people I loved most in the world and you held me when I needed to be held. There’s no one else that I would rather argue with or make-up with or share every moment of my life with. There’s no one else I could ever love more and no one else I could imagine myself with. I love you. Now, yesterday, tomorrow, forever and for always.”
“And with that, I have a few last questions and responsibilities...” the officiant said. You watched (Y/N) look out at the crowd, examining the guests reactions, when she stopped suddenly and you followed her gaze to where Kate sat; solemn look on her face before dropping her head, “so, if no one has anything they’d like to say. No objections...” the officiant added and you smiled, starting to jokingly get him to continue when (Y/N) spoke up quietly
“I’m sorry...” she said and you furrowed your brow at her before she looked up, “I love you, Ty, but I can’t... do this. I can’t marry you. I’m sorry.” You were left in shock, your mouth gaping slightly as she ran down the steps and into the house. You ran after her once you composed yourself, calling out to her but she kept her back turned to you
“What’s going on?!” you yelled
“We can’t get married”
“We can. We almost did. What happened?”
“I’m sorry. I just can’t do this. It’s all too much”
“Too much?”
“I’m sor--”
“STOP!” You yelled, interrupting her apology, “stop apologizing. Stop saying you’re sorry and just help me understand what you’re thinking.” She finally turned around to look at you and you noticed the tears streaming down her face as she tried to get the words out. But she couldn’t seem to make the words leave her throat.
xx
Your eyes burned with tears as you tried to explain why you left the altar. Why you left him standing there alone. Why you couldn’t marry him. All you could do was whimper, all you could say was ‘I’m sorry’ but Tyler wanted more.
“No,” he argued, “tell me what’s going on. Talk to me.”
“I don’t know. I don’t have the answers”
“You’re the only one with the answers right now”
“Tyler please...” you sighed, tears still falling from your eyes
“I love you,” he replied, moving toward you so he could brush his hand along your arm, “I want to be with you. Maybe today isn’t the right day. Maybe we rushed into it. Maybe you’re feeling pressured. Whatever it is, tell me and we can work through it together.”
“I guess...” you sobbed, dropping your head to the ground in defeat, before picking it up to find his eyes again, “I don’t know... I thought if I could be this perfect person for you then all of my... pain, my insecurities would just go away. Because I loved you and I wanted you and I wanted us but from the second I walked into your life, I’ve felt so incredibly out of place. I don’t belong in this life. With the fancy cars and the beautiful people and the big houses. I don’t belong here. I wanted to. I thought I could, despite everything and everyone trying to convince us we weren’t meant for each other. But you can’t tell me you don’t see it. That I grew up in a modest house with a modest family of modest means--”
“I told you that I didn’t grow up with all of this stuff, I worked for it” he interrupted you to argue, furrowing his brow at your confession
“I know! I know,” you sighed, trying to compose your sobs in such a way that your words could be understood and not just heard, “but I can’t get past any of it. I... you deserve someone who can keep up with this life. Who can keep up with you and someone who doesn’t feel... threatened at every turn. I have tried so hard to trust you and honestly, I have trusted you. What I wrote to you was true. You have made me feel so safe and so loved and I have put my entire trust in you. You’ve been as close to perfect as perfect gets. But then something happens, something small, and I lose track of everything. I lose track of how far I’ve come, how far we’ve come and I just... my heart breaks because I have this overwhelming feeling that I don’t belong with you. That, no matter how much I love you or how much you say you love me, we don’t match.”
“Not this again” Tyler dropped his hand from your arm, lobbing his head back and sighed before finally stepping back
“I’ve never loved anyone the way that I love you. So purely and intensely, so all-encompassingly. All I ever wanted was you, even when I was with someone else, even when we were just friends. All I ever wanted was this. Us. But I went through a lot of crap to get you, to lose the old me and find this girl who would be good enough for you. Because, truly, It Had To Be You. It was always going to be you. I just don’t know if I can keep doing this. Keep worrying about the girls you meet here or on the road, the girls that you’re friends with, the girls who are friends with your friends and show up at parties with them. I can’t keep thinking that you’re always keeping me at arms length because you don’t want to give up your old life just yet. I don’t want to feel like I have to be someone else just to be with you. All of our problems, everything that existed before today, will continue to exist. Getting married just means we have more to lose”
“(Y/N)...” He sighed, a look of heartbreak creeping across his face as his eyes began to tear up at your words
“I wish I could say this was just wedding day jitters,” you said as a new batch of tears streamed down your face, “I wish that’s what it was but I don’t think it is. I think that this has been boiling under the surface for a while now and I don’t want you to be the one that suffers when I blow up. Because I will. I’ll cry and scream and blame you for things that aren’t your fault--”
“And we’ll make up like we always do. That’s what love is... It’s staying together through all the shit and the crazy parts and working through it... together.”
“No see...” you sighed, stepping back when he stepped forward, almost tripping on the long train of your dress, “we shouldn’t have to stay together to ‘work out all the shit.’ We should want to see each other through hard times because we want to see each other grow. I want to see you grow. I want to grow with you. But I have too much... shit that I have to work through on my own that you don’t deserve to be dragged down by”
“Don’t do this (Y/N), I love you and I need you to understand that I’ve changed. I’m not the same immature kid I was when we met. You’ve made me a better man”
“And that’s great!” you smiled, tears still cascading down your cheeks, “I know you’ve changed. I see that. And I am so proud of you, Tyler. Uhm...” You hesitated, your voice stabilizing for only a second, “But I haven’t. I’m still closed off and distant and hurt and insecure and... broken because of the things that have happened to me.”
“I want to take your pain from you. You’re not broken, not to me.” He admitted and you squeezed your eyes shut at what his words meant. That he actually loved you as much as you hoped he did
“I can’t keep doing this to you. In time, you’ll see that, you’ll understand,” you tried to recover from everything that you had to say, straightening your posture and wiping away the mess of tears on your face, “I hate that I’m doing this, especially now. But I know I should’ve let you go a long time ago.”
“Is this about--” he started and you shook your head
“It’s not about Kate,” you finished his thought. Even though that may have been the catalyst, it really wasn’t about her, “this is about me. Before you, before James, I was sick. Like really sick--”
“I know... you were in the hospital” you nodded
“But after I got sick, the first time, I met someone. My first boyfriend. He didn’t know about my ED, he didn’t know about me being in the hospital, he didn’t know about my parents. It was a completely blank slate. I could start fresh with him. But after he tried to get me to open up, I shut down again. I had a panic attack thinking about how to tell him everything I thought I’d never have to. He freaked out at me freaking out and I ended up going back to being sick. Back to who I’d always been. And then I was fine, for a bit. Until I met James. And then Marcus happened,” you stopped for only a minute to gather yourself, “and I realized, I never stopped being the girl who would shut down whenever something went wrong. Whenever I had to be honest about who I was or what I was feeling. I have too much baggage”
“I don’t care!” he yelled, his body moving forward but his feet staying put
“But I do!” you shouted in return, the tears brimming your eyes once more, “okay? I do. I can’t ask you to commit to someone who’s scared all the time of you doing something just because you’re living your life. I can’t ask you to change everything just because I love you. Or because I want you to love me back.”
“What if I’m doing it because I love you?”
“You deserve to be loved, Tyler. Truly, honestly, completely, uncompromisingly loved. I want you to have that. Even if that means it’s not with me...”
“It is with you!” He tried
“I’m sorry,” you said, beginning to walk away, “I have loved every minute of my life with you. I wish I didn’t have to hurt you like this. It’s the last thing I want to do”
“Then don’t do it!” he pleaded
“We can’t get married, Ty”
“Fine” he tried, “we don’t have to get married. we’ll call this off, go get some pizza, change out of these clothes and go home. To our home. With our dogs. And our life together. We’ll just be together.” You dropped your head, shaking it as you did so, letting the tears bead off the tulle of your skirt and fall to the ground
“I love you, Tyler, so much you couldn’t possibly know,” your voice hitched as you kept your eyes on the ground, “but I can’t be with you right now”
“Why?!” he shouted, your family and his finally coming around the corner to see the last of the argument, “because you think you’re going to hurt me? like you don’t think this is hurting me?”
“You’ll get past this!” you shouted back, raising your head and catching a glimpse of Chris’ face, his sadness for you clearly evident in his expression, “you will get past this wedding not happening. You will get past me hurting you today. You will move on and be happy and fall in love and have the life you’ve always deserved. But if we get married, if we go through with this now, I will drag you down with me and I can’t allow that”
“You’re not going to drag me down...” he said calmly
“STOP!” you yelled, squeezing your eyes shut in frustration, eliciting a small string of tears from the corner of your eye, “I’m selfish. I’ve been selfish for the past six years. You and me have argued with each other and yelled at each other so many times because of me. Because I can’t let you in. Because I can’t just let myself trust you completely.”
“I’ve--” he stammered, finally taking a step to move closer to you
“No, please” you started, outstretching your hand so he didn’t get too close, “you are so wonderful. and you have been so wonderful to me. You’ve grown so much in these last 10 years and I am so happy that I’ve been able to see that and be there for some of it--”
“I haven’t outgrown you...” he replied, as if those were the words you were going to say next and you tilted your head to the side when you looked at him, following his eyes with yours while you prepared yourself to say goodbye
“Maybe you don’t think you have but we both know that we haven’t been moving together, at the same pace, for a long time. This isn’t your fault, Tyler, please don’t put this on you. Please don’t try to find some mistake that you made -- because you didn’t make one. I’ve chosen person after person because I saw something in them that I didn’t see in myself. Something I thought I could have for myself if I were just close enough to them. But I just-- I can’t... I don’t want to do that to you anymore. I--” you whimpered, trying to keep yourself composed but the rest of the guests beginning to circle and the look in Tyler’s eyes made it impossible for tears not to stream down your face, “I need to choose me this time. I need to find that something in myself that makes everything else worth doing...”
“You’ve said this before. We got through it then, we can get through it now,” he tried, stepping toward you once before you turned to walk away, “please.” His voice was soft now, filled with sadness that made your heart ache, almost too much for you to bear. You turned your head just barely so he could hear your voice one last time
“Goodbye Tyler” you whispered to him, picking the skirt of your dress up as you ran from him, stopping only when Jackie stood in your path. She stared at you, with your mascara staining your cheeks and your eyes still flooding with tears, and you feared what she might do; slap you, curse at you, say she was disappointed.
“You were part of our family” she said, small tears escaping her eyes, “we loved you. Why... how could you do this?” You couldn’t bring yourself to give her an answer because the look on her face said everything her voice couldn’t
“I’m sorry” you managed to mutter before you ran to the car waiting in the driveway. You hoped that someday they would all come to forgive you, and that the pain you’d caused would simply be a memory, but for now you could only watch as Tyler crumbled in his Mother’s arms as the tears he’d been containing were finally set free.

Numbers 21:1-22:20, Luke 1:26-56, Psalms 57:1-11, Proverbs 11:9-11
Today is the 14th day of March welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today. Can you believe it? Like a month ago today was Valentine's Day. And if I remember right it was on the…at the beginning of a week just like this. And just like that a month goes by and here we are approaching the center of this third month of the year. Yesterday we…we began the gospel of Luke, the third the gospel and we’ll be camped out in this third gospel for the rest of this third month of the year although we will transition in the Old Testament before this month is out. But I digress. That’s just kind of where we are. That's the lay of the land. Let's move into the Scriptures. We’ll read from the God's Word translation this week, picking up where we left off yesterday. In the book of Numbers the children of Israel are…they’re kinda trapped in the desert at this point and they had asked if they could pass through the country, the nation of Edom, but they were refused. Ironically, the nation of Edom, these are brothers, like this family. Jacob, remember his name was changed to Israel. And, so, his children were the children of Israel. And he had a brother named Esau. And there was a bunch conniving going on and they kind of had a falling out even though they reconciled in the end. The Edomites are the descendants of Esau. So, basically Jacobs descendants are asking Esau's descendants just to be able to pass through and they’re saying “no.” And in yesterday's reading, we concluded with the Edomites bringing out their army, essentially a show of force at the border to say, “you’re not coming through here.” So, that's where we pick up the story. Numbers chapter 21 verse 1 through 22 verse 20.
Prayer:
Father we thank You for Your word and for bringing us safely into this…this brand new shiny sparkly week. And we often…we often think of this at the beginning of the week that it's all out in front of us. We…we haven’t an made any miss steps, we haven't made any mistakes. It’s out there in the future. It has yet to be revealed. It has yet to be created. We have to live into it. And, so, we are here now with grateful hearts looking forward to the adventure that we get to share together walking with You into this new week. Come Holy Spirit. We pray that You would continue to inform and awaken our hearts by…by the Scriptures, and we thank You for binding us together in community as we take this journey come Holy Spirit we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Community Prayer and Praise:
Hi everybody my name is Garrett I'm a long-time listener here I've called in in the past and I try and pray along with you as much as I can did. I've…I've struggled with anxiety and depression for a long time now and today's been honestly extra bad, and I'd really appreciate some prayers to help give me some strength to, you know, get back on the right path and get that passion that I once had back. And I really appreciate it. I love you all and God bless.
Hello this is Gwen, and I am calling in for my friend Kate. She has something called seizures and I am really sad about it. She was my best friend so please pray for her and that she stays safe especially during covid. And I'm going to ask my sister right now if she wants to say something Do you? She said no. But please pray for her and her parents. And also, this little miracle happened when we were there. We were over at Kate’s house praying and her grandma pulled in and said that she was allowed…her dad was allowed to go in the hospital with her and we just prayed that. And also, that her seizures would stop and it did. All they have to figure out is it for it not to come back. So, please pray for her and her family to do very well. Thank you.
Good morning DABbers this is Nancy from Southern Oregon. I've recently retired. So, instead of listening to the Daily Audio Bible on my commute to and from work I'm now listening to it at home on my computer. Well, today's Friday March 11th they were talking about how the bronze censors were so holy when God made them…the people that gathered and God burned those 250 followers, He commanded __ to gather them up because the censors were holy. And he had them hammered out and repurposed into making sheets to overlay the altar to remind everybody that God is holy and only the people of Aaron should bring censors. So, in my mind I’m thinking this is the first time I recall hearing of repurposing by God or recycling. But then I think about how he recycled us, that we were recycled by God from people whose very best was nothing more than filthy rags and how He chose us, and He called us first. And then we set ourselves in His light and we turned away from the world. We have purpose and we gotta hold up and be empowered into something useful to honor the Lord. And it's just a reminder to the world that the living God wants us to enter into a relationship with Him. Those were my thoughts for today. Thinking and applying it. And thank you Brian for this program. God bless you all. Thanks. Bye-bye.
Hi everyone, it's Christy from Kentucky. Oh, I just have such a burden on my heart today and I need to share a couple of things with you that I need prayer for. I haven't called about this because it's been very difficult to talk about, but I lost my second Cousin Morgan to a…what they believe is a heroin fentanyl overdose. And it just…I…I can't even wrap my brain around it because the last time that she and I spoke she seemed to have turned her life around and was telling me about how she'd asked of the Lord to forgive her and I'm so grateful for that message that she sent to me. But I'm kind of kicking myself because I didn't follow up and that was back in September. And, you know, sometimes we take things for granted thinking things are going OK and then this happens. So, if you would please keep my family in your prayers. Also, my sweet friend Barb in Ohio had had a lung transplant several years ago due to a chronic illness and she had new lungs and she was just doing so well and something with this new medication that they put her on in the fall for her immunity…her…her immune system has…has attacked her lungs and now she's only at like 41% lung capacity. Please pray for my friend Bard for healig. Alright everyone. I love you guys so much and I lift you up in prayer. I pray each of you are having a most blessed and lovely day today.
Good morning DAB family this is Minnesota Ruka I just wanted to call in because it is the 12th of March and I heard an amazing young daughter speak at the very end wanting to be anonymous. And I heard your story girl and I just wanna let you know that the Lord is so proud of you and he is so beside you right now. We all make mistakes in life. I'd like to say a lot of us at different times struggle with our own flesh who needs to think that we can do things on our own. But I want to let you know that don't let the guilt or shame hold you back. You are on the right path and the angels are rejoicing that…in this new awareness that you have and that that valley that red sea that you were in where you fell astray, that that sea is being lifted and that the Lord is excited to have you back and is open arms with you right now and is gonna bring you blessings and peace. Keep close to him and know that he loves you and that we love you too dear sister and you are amazing. Have a great one.

Even with no expectations set, this moment exceeded all of them.
When dreaming about this day as the date neared closer and closer, Dazai thought standing at the altar would shred his nerves and ruin his day. He thought the mask he’d forced himself to put on would sour everyone’s mood as they lamented his inability to show his true emotions. But, under the gaze of the Armed Detective Agency- his coworkers- his friends- Dazai didn’t fidget or shy away. When he was joined at the altar by a brightly smiling Atsushi, who’s light rivaled the sun as it filtered through the thin canopy above them, Dazai had no problem returning the gesture and hoping it came close to what he was given.
-
“Are you sure this is what you want, Atsushi?” Dazai asked countless times under the cover of darkness, half-hoping his betrothed would be asleep. He always asked too quickly, as his fear of the answer ate at him too persistently, and Atsushi always answered.
“Of course I’m sure, Dazai-san,” He answered. “Why wouldn’t I want someone as handsome and smart as you?”
These answers did little to calm Dazai’s nerves. “But…there are plenty of other smart and handsome guys out there. You deserve someone who won’t drag you down, someone you don’t have to keep watch over-”
“If my husband starts to fall, I sure hope he’ll try to drag me down so I can use his grip on me to pull him back up,” Atsushi interrupted. “And keeping watch over you just gives me a reason to be closer to you.”
Atsushi often told him that he always knew what to say, Dazai knew it was really the other way around.
-
Dazai hadn’t planned on how fidgety he’d be during the actual ceremony. He wanted to bounce his knees, play with Atsushi’s fingers, or reach out and play with his hair. Ever the one to overthink, Atsushi would most likely think he was nervous, though, or uncomfortable- or worse, having second thoughts. For a brief second, an image of a crestfallen Atsushi as he allowed himself to think Dazai would leave him at the altar flashed through Dazai’s mind. A gentle squeeze at his hands pulled him back in, revealing Atsushi with his head tilted and a confused look on his face. He was still smiling, glowing in a happiness Dazai still couldn’t be convinced was given by him, though the way his eyebrows furrowed asked that one terrifying question: are you okay?
Dazai gulped, a million thoughts flashing through his mind. No, not really. I feel like I’m going to throw up, or ruin this whole ceremony, or fail you and make you regret ever committing yourself to me. Please, please don’t leave me, I- He cut himself off before he could spiral too far and gave Atsushi a slight nod, flashing a smile he hoped looked as genuine as he felt. Those wrinkles on his forehead didn’t smooth out, though, and Dazai detested the thought of Atsushi having his big day sullied by Dazai’s wandering mind. Screw it. It’s my wedding too, he thought before lifting one of Atsushi’s hands to his lips and gently pressing a kiss to his knuckles. From the guests, he could hear Naomi squeal for a split second before a hand smacked over her mouth, most likely Tanizaki’s. When Dazai lowered their hands back between them, brushing his thumb over the spot he kissed, he allowed his smile to soften. That was enough to ease Atsushi, who returned the gesture. God, that was a smile he would gladly-
-live for.
-
Atsushi placed another sticker on the chart hanging on their fridge, an endearing idea he had invented to keep Dazai in line. The rules were simple: every time Dazai got his work done on time (or within an hour of overtime), properly vocalized his feelings, or kept his pestering of Kunikida to a minimum (a much more realistic request than not bothering the man at all, much to Atsushi’s partial dismay), he got a sticker. The more important the task, the bigger and shinier the sticker was. However, every misbehavior got stickers revoked.
Though Dazai would never admit it, he hated watching Atsushi peel the stickers off the paper and flick them off in the trash: whether it was because he somehow got attached to the stickers like a child or because he hated the pensive expression on Atsushi’s face as he did it, he didn’t know.
In a month’s time, he had racked up quite an impressive collection, stars, hearts and smiley faces covering the paper in a testament to his good behavior. Atsushi struggled to fit the next sticker in the collage, the awkward shape and size of the cat’s head overlapping other stickers. His tongue peeked out through his lips as he tried to find a clear space until Dazai got bored of the display.
“Atsushi-kun, I’ve got a much better idea. Why don’t you just put it on my face? Right here,” he suggested, pointing at his nose and going cross-eyed, hoping his mild theatrics would draw Atsushi’s attention. Instead, Atsusi sighed and straightened up, rubbing the bottom of his back.
“No, this one’s important,” Atsushi argued, finally deciding on where to place the sticker. The ear overlapped a star, but he waved his hand to brush it off and walked over to Dazai.
“Oh? What’s it for?” Dazai asked, leaning back in the chair and allowing Atsushi to bend over him instead. He didn’t miss a beat when Atsushi’s lips found his, moving his lips against his eagerly and reaching a hand to his waist. With a little pressure, he eased Atsushi to place his knees beside his hips, holding onto him as if he’d float away. The cheap chair groaned beneath them, and Dazai was glad he’d gotten Atsushi out of the habit of shying away at the slightest sound.
When Atsushi pulled himself away, Dazai fought the urge to chase after him and forget about the rest of their agenda- Kunikida should expect allowing the pair to take a long lunch break would end in a half day of work for them and an extended one for him. He resisted, though, and trailed one hand down Atsushi’s arm, intertwining their fingers once he reached his hand.
“The sticker? Well, uh…” Atsushi’s tongue poked at the side of his cheek as he chose his words. “You’ve just…been much more enthusiastic about being alive. I figured you deserved an extra fancy sticker for that.”
“So my life is only worth a sticker to you, huh?” Atsushi immediately opened his mouth to protest, eyes going wide. He backed himself up so fast he nearly tipped himself off the chair, saved only by Dazai wrapping his arms around him and pulling him back. “I’m messing with you, Atsushi. No need to start a fuss. Still, I wonder what it could be that caused such a drastic change in my behavior, hm?”
He connected their fingers again, this time pulling their hands up to eye-level and twisting their hands this way and that. In the early noon light, a twinkling caught Atsushi’s eye, sunlight reflecting off a small metal band on Dazai’s finger. He smiled, relaxing into Dazai’s hold until he was resting entirely on his body, and placing a kiss right on the ring.
“I’m glad, Osamu,” he muttered softly. “I’m excited, too.”
The two of them sat there, Dazai rubbing absently at Atsushi’s back and relishing in the warmth of his body against his. He never thought he would favor this soothing moment over the exhilarating rush of a new relationship, yet the fulfillment he felt pumping through his veins with each steady beat of his heart proved him wrong yet again. There wasn’t a chance he’d ever grow tired of Atsushi, with his gentle kisses and kind words that pierced through Dazai’s heart every time. Atsushi was an adventure every day: what new way of torturing Dazai would he come up with? What display of affection would he force Dazai to accept, and how long would it be until he brainwashed him into believing he deserved it? The answers were too tempting to know- he couldn’t die until he figured out every answer, and Atsushi always managed to give him a slew of new questions to solve the next day.
After a few moments of sitting against each other, Atsushi pushed against him again and brushed his hair away from his face. “I’m sorry I didn’t let you choose where to put your sticker, Osamu.”
Dazai huffed in faux annoyance. “For such an important one, that should’ve been half the prize!”
“You’re right, you’re right,” Cupping Dazai’s face in both hands, Atsushi pressed a gentle kiss to his nose and chuckled at the heat spreading underneath his fingertips. The smallest kisses always seemed to fluster Dazai- all the more reason to give them to him. “How’s that? Do you forgive me?”
A content hum rumbled deep in Dazai’s chest. “I suppose.”
“Good, because we need to get back to work.”
This earned a sigh. “You are absolutely no fun.”
-
Did wedding ceremonies normally take this long? Dazai felt like he had been standing in front of everyone for hours and they hadn’t even gotten to the vows yet. He felt himself getting antsy again, eager to be able to call Atsushi his husband. The word felt weird on his tongue the first time he said it, and it felt even weirder the thousand times he said it before the day of the wedding as he waited for the last details to be arranged. Kenji had stopped by and asked him why he kept repeating “husband, my husband, I’m Atsushi’s husband and he is my husband, we are husbands,” and left thinking it was some strange tradition for city folk to say the word a thousand times for good luck. Ranpo had fun with that one, and Kunikida prayed the boy would forget that tidbit of knowledge if and when it was his turn to marry. Now, though, he was longing to be able to adjust and to call Atsushi his husband honestly for the first time.
He started stroking Atsushi’s knuckles again, hoping to calm his sudden anxiety. Atsushi squeezed his hands in response, keeping his focus on the officiant so he wouldn’t miss his cue. Were the vows coming soon? Dazai couldn’t care to listen. Instead he marvelled at the sight before him, wondering why he never thought to compare Atsushi to an angel until now. The sunlight seemed to encompass him, providing him with a brilliant aura that only highlighted his soft features. He was stronger than he was before, and had finally put on enough weight that Dazai didn’t worry a particularly strong gust of wind would knock him over. He wouldn’t let Dazai touch his hair yet- he had grown a sort of fondness for it, and Dazai wasn’t putting up much complain at keeping that long strand around for him to tug and twist around his fingers- but he did trim it up to keep out of his face.
Perhaps the best improvements he made were his eyes. They were always beautiful, but now they didn’t seem as cloudy as they used to be. He was more confident, happier, and he had a future and a family to look forward to. Now, as he stole a glance at Dazai, the teasing smirk he gave him lit his eyes up in a way that nearly sent Dazai to tears.
Atsushi was adamant that he owed that light to Dazai, for saving him and taking care of him. Though he was sure the light was all Atsushi’s doing, he didn’t mind taking a little bit of credit, not when it earned him a million thank-you kisses and more. The other parts, he was less lenient on.
-
The dinner had been nice and completely on Atsushi (under the condition he go easy on the sake), which Dazai had no complaints about. Even when Atsushi pointed out that they shared funds, Dazai merely took that as an invitation to drink all the sake he wanted. The restaurant they went to, thankfully, wasn’t too packed- after all, a Wednesday wasn’t much to celebrate. Still, he could tell Atsushi had called ahead when they were led to a nice. semi-private balcony table with only a few other tables around.
That should’ve been a clue as to what was about to happen, but Atsushi had a way of making Dazai feel as if he could let his guard down. He truly didn’t see it coming.
After their pleasant dinner, Dazai was pestering Atsushi for dessert before the sun completely slipped beneath the horizon. A cool breeze blew over them, and Atsushi tucked that strand of hair behind his ear, suddenly bashful. His hands fidgeted in his lap, and he refused to make eye contact with Dazai. What was happening, and what was with that lovesick grin on his face?
“Actually, Osamu, I was hoping I could talk to you first,” Atsushi said, still avoiding his gaze. Dazai tilted his head and shut up, something Atsushi had a talent for making him do and often used at the request of Kunikida at the office. “I wanted to invite you to dinner because I wanted to thank you.”
“Thank me?” Dazai asked. Did he do something out of the ordinary recently?
Atsushi blushed a deeper red. “Yes. For taking such good care of me. I know you’ve always said I didn’t, or shouldn’t, thank you, but I can’t agree…and…well, I’m about to ask something extremely selfish.”
At some point, Atsushi had brought his hands up to grip at the table, so Dazai reached over and grabbed one of them. “I would do anything for my Atsushi-kun! Ask away!”
Pulling his hand away, Atsushi gave him a smile and reached into his pocket. Dazai watched as he slid a small box over to him, checking out of the corner of his eye to see if anybody was watching. “Really? Would you continue to take care of me…forever? I’d do my best every day to take care of you, too. I mean…if you’d like that, that is.”
For a man who prided himself on being on top of every situation, Dazai stared in disbelief at the box for a long time before slowly picking it up. He should’ve seen this coming, really- yet he never allowed himself to hope that Atsushi might want to keep him around for the rest of their lives. Even with the solid proof right in front of him, he still couldn’t believe that Atsushi meant it.
He only remembered that he was keeping Atsushi waiting when he saw panic start to flutter in his eyes. He opened the box and couldn’t help the small gasp when he saw the ring: tiny blue gems on a thin silver band. When he looked back at Atsushi, the panic had subsided, though he was still gritting his teeth as if he had done something wrong.
Hadn’t he learned by now that he could do wrong in Dazai’s eyes?
“I…I’d be honored, Atsushi,” Dazai answered. As if the weight of the world had been lifted off his shoulders, Atsushi grinned and drew his hands back to clutch at his chest. Carefully taking the ring out of the box, Dazai examined it, watching it sparkled as he twisted it in the sunset. “I-If you really think I’m up for the job…”
“I do! Think you’re up for the job, I mean,” he responded, watching Dazai slip the ring on his finger and inspect it again. “And even if you weren’t…I’d still want to take care of you.”
There was no need to ask him why. Just as Dazai helped build Atsushi up and helped him to believe in his own worth, Atsushi helped Dazai too. Dazai wasn’t a savior like Atsushi used to see him as. After all, Atsushi was the one to pull him out of the river that day, so he was the one who started the chain. They used to spend hours on end debating, trying to call the other the hero of the relationship. Though it took an embarrassingly long time, they eventually realized the truth.
There was no one savior. They saved each other, and they took care of each other. It had always been that way, and Dazai wouldn’t want any part of that to change.
-
It took Dazai a moment to realize what was happening until finally he processed the word he had been waiting to hear. Atsushi’s attention was now completely on him, a warm spotlight he wasn’t sure he’d ever want to leave. A list of promises the two of them already made a thousand times over prattled on in the space between them, until the officiant paused his rant. Atsushi showed Dazai the biggest grin he had ever seen; Dazai’s heart fluttered up to his throat. Words he didn’t think anybody would dare to say with him in mind filled the air; somebody sniffled in the crowd.
“I do,” Atsushi said. A jolt went through Dazai’s body, as if he could feel as Atsushi official promise and entrust his heart to him. Dazai suddenly felt unsure on his feet, and his knees trembled.
Another reassuring squeeze, Dazai watched Atsushi switch their hands so he could run a thumb over Dazai’s knuckles. There was a sudden pressure behind Dazai’s eyes threatening to leak out, along with the overwhelming fear that when he opened his mouth his heart would jump out. He spent so much time trying to force it back in its place he almost missed his cue.
He caught the tail end of his half of the vows, and cleared his throat. His voice as unwavering as his faith in the man before him, Dazai nodded. “I do.”
Neither of them needed permission to meet. Dazai wrapped one arm around Atsushi’s waist securely before placing one hand on his cheek and pulling him in. Atsushi could barely return the favor with his grin in the way, and Dazai couldn’t fight his own smile from breaking them apart too soon either. To compensate, he placed kiss after kiss on Atsushi’s face, making sure to cover every inch in his affection before pulling away for a moment.
“You’re sure?” Dazai asked tentatively. “I-If not, I’m sure we could make something up-”
“I’m absolutely sure, Osamu. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
A sudden burst of happiness exploded within Dazai, finally let free at the prospect of sharing his life with someone who could treat him so delicately. He wasn’t too fond of sobbing in front of Kunikida, so Dazai took that energy and dipped Atsushi down, giving him one final kiss to seal their fate together. Atsushi clutched onto Dazai’s jacket, close enough to his heart Dazai was sure he was able to feel it beating erratically. There was a pink painting Atsushi’s face when he finally lifted him up, and Dazai couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled up from his chest. He pressed Atsushi’s hand to his lips before leading him down the aisle with their hands linked, where their friends- no, their family- cheered them on, welcoming them in their new life together.

OK so I saw this post (about the woman who kissed a stranger in front of the Eiffel tower and other places) and really REALLY needed to write up a rom-com plot for it. At first I thought I was going to actually make a heterosexual romance happen, but it became immediately clear that I am fully incapable of that. This is long, but if you love romantic comedies I think it’s a fucking delight.
If someone out there makes movies and wants to make this, lmk. I’ll say yes.
So we start out in flashback with the woman waiting at the airport with her group of friends. They’re headed on a trip to Europe to celebrate graduation, and they’re all talking about what a great time they’re going to have but they’ll miss their boyfriends etc, except for one girl who’s like “Well I don’t have anyone to miss, so :P” and her friends are like OK FINE, we dare you to find a guy to kiss you every city we visit in Europe. She sort of shrugs bc that’s not really so interesting, but then one of her friends offers that she should find a guy to kiss her in front of a bunch of famous places, super romantically, while her friends take a picture. She’s in.
We zoom through the trip with the focus on her taking on this dare. She immediately has a lot of success in asking, and it definitely makes her bolder. She shares her first kiss with someone with Big Ben in the background. Then Stonehenge. The Eiffel Tower. etc etc. They’re back on the plane and she’s looking at photos on her friend’s camera. Her friend is next to her and remarks that she can’t believe the girl actually went through with all those kisses from strangers. She asks if the girl is glad it’s over, says something like, “I just bet when we get home you’ll find Mr. Right.” The girl gets a far off look in her eyes, says, “maybe so.”
Jump forward to present day with a X number of years later, probably 13 years bc 35 is that kind of age, but honestly more would be better. The scene is a wedding, and a woman who looks a lot like the girl is standing at an outdoor altar with candles all around and a flower arch. It’s dusk. She’s being asked if she takes this man when someone yells “FIRE” and the flower arch is burning and there’s screaming and you can hear the sirens of the firetrucks off in the distance. They put the fire out, and we see an older woman (who’s actually our girl) approach one of them. Her friend stands behind her with her camera ready. She taps a fire fighter on the shoulder and asks if he’ll kiss her through the window of the fire truck. He looks bashful and first but accepts, and the friend gets the picture. The woman who’s getting married sees it and storms over and is like, “Cousin protag, if you staged a fire so you could get one of your stupid kisses I’m going to jail for murder on my wedding day and I won’t even care.” (She did NOT stage it, but she takes her opportunities when they come)
So this woman comes over and is like...excuse me, what the fuck was she talking about? I didn’t mean to eavesdrop but she was yelling and accusing you of setting her wedding on fire and you didn’t think that was weird. So they + her friend leave the wedding and go to a diner where they sit in their fancy dresses and talk about the project that’s defined this woman’s life. She’s kissed hundreds of guys now. Her friend still documents most of them, but she’s had stand ins over the years. The new woman is scrolling through all these pictures and is like, where are all these guys now? What are they doing? Do you talk to them? Do you ever think about them?
And the protag kind of shrugs, bc...no? Not really? But her friend is like, “you would think she’d have found The One, right? After kissing all these guys? But it’s just-- kiss, NOTHING, kiss, NOTHING.” And she’s clearly sad about it, she really wanted her friend to have a magical moment where she kissed a stranger and fell right in love. But the new woman is like, that’s not how love really works though, it takes time, getting to know someone, etc. And what if one of them is thinking of you?
They get to talking more and the new woman is an editor (or reality tv producer?) and she thinks this could be a great book, especially if they can use social media to launch it. She’s very convincing and the protag decides to go along.
So they’re working together-- the friend is helping too --posting the photos one by one and tagging them and getting them noticed. It actually doesn’t take long before the story kind of blows up, and that’s when she gets the first message from one of her kisses. The editor is like, “this is our angle--you meet them again, all of them at once. At a big party like an old romantic royal ball. And you talk with them and then get to know them and maybe you really do find someone you’re excited about.”
She starts getting more responses, enough that someone actually has to help her go through everything. Some people are just trying to get famous, since this is taking off media-wise. She finds that she can often recognize them even if they only did share one kiss years ago. There’s something comforting about it, like maybe she WILL fall for one of them if they meant enough for her to remember them. But as the number of guys found grows, she gets less and less hopeful. If anything, she’s filled with dread. She liked collecting their kisses like souvenirs more than she liked the idea of falling for one of them.
She has a heart to heart with her friend where she kind of laments not feeling anything, and the friend asks her how the kisses compared with guys she’s kissed while dating, and she confesses that it’s the same level of heat, the same non-spark. She liked those guys as people, and she doesn’t regret any of her relationships, but there’s not really anything huge that she feels. Her friend has a lot of sympathy but not a ton of empathy; she’s never been in this kind of situation. She asks if protag was attracted to any of the guys, like physically, and protag says “they were all really attractive,” like she’s stating a fact. Because they were conventionally handsome and she’s conventionally pretty and that’s what works, right? Her friend gives a sort of half-hearted yeah, because...not really? But she doesn’t know how to put it.
Friend talks to new woman about the talk she’s just had with protag, and we see a light go on in her head. Like something is clicking into place. And she has a hunch about it but she can’t really spill it to friend. She drives to protag’s house and they go sit on the couch and protag is confused about why new woman is there and looking kind of upset. They’re good friends now and it worries her. Protag doesn’t expect it when the woman asks her if she’s ever kissed a woman. She says no, then as she’s asking why the woman asks if they could kiss. Just to see something. And protag has never been asked if she wants to be kissed, let alone by another woman-- that just doesn’t happen to her.
They kiss and it’s immediately clear that there’s something different about it for protag. Her body language shifts; she’s somehow less comfortable with this kiss and more at home with it. When they break the kiss she looks dazed, opening her eyes (she usually keeps them open? but they just closed on their own this time) and staring back at the woman who kissed her, looking at her lips, thinking about doing it again but surprised that she’s thinking it. The woman asks her how it was. “Different.” Asks her if she wants to do it again. “Definitely.” Protag initiates it this time.
So the next day protag is freaking out big time. Because maybe she’s gay? Apparently? She’s always thought other women just exaggerated their feelings for their boyfriends. But it turns out no, they were being real. And she’s just never felt that before. She’s kinda worried it’s all tied up with this new woman, though, so she calls her friend and convinces her to go along to a gay bar that night. She’s never had trouble finding someone to kiss in any other circumstance; she figures she’ll just kiss a few women and make sure this isn’t a fluke.
The gay bar is 1) mostly gay men and 2) nothing like her vacation experiences. She tries walking up to the first woman she sees and gets a dirty look followed by “I’m with my girlfriend.” It takes her several tries before she finds someone to kiss, and when she does she finds that she does like it more, but not as much as she liked her kiss the previous night. Her friend takes a picture anyway (since that’s what she always does) and the woman protag has just kissed gets upset and offended, accusing protag of being a straight woman kissing a lesbian for attention.
Protag leaves with friend and drops her off, friend apologizing a lot. Protag drives to editor’s house and knocks on her door and when she opens it she just asks “Can I?” and editor nods and they’re kissing and it’s a lot but it’s exciting, she’s totally wrapped up in it. Editor slows her down, tries to say she wasn’t trying to start something with the kiss. Protag is hurt and feels rejected. She leaves without hearing anything else. Decides to try to avoid editor as much as possible and go on with the stupid fancy party with all the men she’s kissed. Maybe she was wrong anyway. Maybe she just needs to try harder.
Editor knows she fucked up and calls the friend to tell her everything. Friend realizes that Protag was trying to see if she was into the editor and says she has a plan. They’re gonna make this work.
So it’s the party and the whole thing is gorgeous. The place is set up with photo areas that look like famous locations that you can kiss in front of. Plus everyone who’s single is wearing a kissy lip pin on their outfit so you know they would like to be kissed. The protag looks great but she’s also kind of grim, just there to get it done. She gets to the party and everyone cheers, she’s going to give a toast later and talk about a release date for her book etc etc, but first she’s supposed to mingle and do some kisses. A few men come up to her right away. She remembers most of them, and it’s weird seeing them but kind of fun too? She didn’t think they’d ever really meet again.
She sees one of her first kisses and he’s really excited and asks if they can kiss again, says he’s always wondered if she was “the one who got away” and she feels excited about it, like maybe it’s fate and this is it and he’s the one. They go to the spot that looks like where they kissed and just go for it. It’s everything a good kiss should be, by looks. When they break apart, the guy has this hopeful look in his eye and Protag justs puts her hand on his shoulder and thanks him and shakes her head very gently before walking off. Because he did feel something and she didn’t.
Protag isn’t thinking about where she’s going, just walking away, when a hand on her shoulder stops her. She turns and there’s the editor, looking amazing and smiling at her and she’s confused for a half second before the editor takes her hand and leads her over to one of the kiss areas. The friend is waiting with the camera. Editor leans in and kisses Protag and it’s fireworks all over again. Such a good kiss. When they pull apart Protag looks in Editor’s eyes and waits for confirmation that this is what they really both want. Editor moves both of them slowly into the next backdrop. “I want to be one who kisses you in front of monuments. I want to replace every photo you have with one of us kissing if we can. Can we?” Protag says yes and everyone cheers because it’s really sweet and beautiful!! Friend snaps pictures.
This time when we flash forward to a wedding, it’s for the Protag and Editor. They’re standing in front of (dramatic monument) as they say I do.
Author’s note: the more I think about it the more I realize the editor should be a producer (maybe) who wants the protag to do a reality show. Or basically just something else (literary agent? promoter? IDK)
#romantic comedies#romantic comedy#it could obviously be straight really easily but that would be so predictable#my writing#also i didn't think this could make a good fic but#i was wrong#halfway through i realized it could be a great girl direction AU#so you're welcome to imagine Harry as protag and Louis as editor#and...Niall as the friend maybe?#anywayyyy if you read this and like it please tell me#and if you read it and hate it please don't

Hey! Not sure if you made one but can I ask for head cannons for Arthur Morgan (or any of the cowboys really) on their wedding day? I don’t see very much of these and I just love the idea of the boys being happy! 😳
thanks for sending this! I rlly enjoyed writing this, i think leaving most of the character spots empty was rlly fun, i like working with rarer characters!
i’m just now realizing you were asking for happy chars, and like i wrote arthur as more nervous/frazzled but that’s what i feel is accurate
female reader!
Arthur
this man is alll jitters
he’s frankly a bit of a mess leading up to the wedding
engagements are very much not his thing, alright?
but mostly he can push past that by focusing on doing chores, distracting himself
and you can come over and remind him, when he gets a little too lost in his head, of how much you love him, how excited you are to be his wife
that this is real, it’s happening
on the day of, however?
dutch got it in his head that this needs to be something of a ‘proper wedding’, with a cake and flowers and the whole tradition
which means he can’t see you until the ceremony
and he can’t get himself dirty lifting hay bales or going hunting
he just has to sit there, letting susan clean him up and getting himself dressed
he has to wait, and stew in his anxiety
despite the very rational side telling him otherwise, he can’t help but think that you’re desperately trying to find a last-minute way out of this
that you’re going to leave, coming to your senses at the last moment and realizing what a mistake it would be to marry a fool like him
he thinks so little of himself, sees himself as such a hopeless brute, there’s no way you could really want him
even if it’s very much the opposite for you, even if you tell him just about every chance he gets
so when it’s time for the wedding itself, he’s more than a little nervous
despite himself, he finds the ceremony charming. he’s a bit of a hopeless romantic, so the flowers and decorations all look wonderful
still, he’s worried about how much of this is you bending to his wants, because he’s not exactly subtle that he wants a wedding so. damn. bad
but he forces himself to stay put, wait this out
and then, as he’s waiting for hosea to come lead you down the line of chairs and crates they have set up as seating, something in him calms
it’s hard to explain, but it’s like it all clicks into place for him
you’re here
you want this
you’re ready, just as much as he is
he gives a small sigh, shoulders relaxing, and then you appear from behind the young tree branches someone’s bent into an arch
you’re beautiful, dressed up perfectly in the closest thing to a white dress you could get your hands on
you give him a warm smile and he just melts into place
Kieran
surprisingly he’s very lax when it comes to the idea of weddings
you want something big and fancy? he can do that, even if means waiting a bit
you want it to be something small and personal, little more than just the two of you? he’s fine with that too
the only things he really needs are that it’s a wedding, and you’re there
the rest is just window dressing to him
that being said, getting him ready for a wedding is a bit of a hassle
you send him into town with charles and arthur, to get a bath and get himself ready for the ceremony
you hang back in camp, taking a day off with karen and mary-beth and abigail, just enjoying yourself while you let them play around with putting up your hair
you go to molly for help with your make-up, after you’ve put on the nicest dress you own
everything feels… jittery, but welcoming
like the few seconds between the crack of thunder and the first droplets of rain
dutch is charged with keeping the Reverend at least a little sober, and there’s not really much more you want, in the way of ceremony
and then before you know it, the boys are coming back from town,
there’s a flush to kieran’s cheeks, excitement and pride and perhaps just a bit of alcohol
but he’s there, and you’re there, and that makes it perfect
Simon
okay so little known fact about simon
he is 100% a worrywort and will start fussing if things are even a little out-of-plan
like he's the guy on vacation that has to have things planned down to the rest stops
so he's pacing the entire time waiting for the ceremony
asking people to check on the food, the cake, the altar, the decorations
asking if you're okay to go, really, wanting to go out and look for himself
he might just slip off to go check on things if he can, take care of something himself
simon's a man of ritual, i feel like he'd definitely want a 'real' wedding with all of the bells and whistles
probably the closest to wanting what we in the modern age would want, given that he grew up in something of a high society (i think??)
so he wants something big, official
he also has a history of being taken advantage of in situations like this
personally i see his first wife/fiancee as a very quick/ thing, with dutch offering to take care of the problem and ensure that the wedding doesn't count, legally
and maybe dipping into his funds a little? idk
so he doesn't really trust all that well, at least with 'official' things like this
you've definitely been dating a few years before he'll ask, and it'll definitely be something planned, something he's deliberated over for a while
it feels almost… overdue, when he asks, like you should've done this a long time ago
so on the day of, he's more stressed than nervous
everything will work out, he just has to have everything perfect
i'm assuming this takes place a little bit after the gang falls apart, the two of you heading off to live in rhodes together, a somewhat cramped apartment above the store
so the ceremony is smaller, more personal, with only a few friends the two of you have gotten close to in town
you can hear him bullying someone about the flowers from where you're getting ready, letting one of the girls from town put your hair together
there's something reassuring about it you can't trace
and when it comes time to go down the aisle, everything looks perfect, the decorations are pristine, the flowers are bright and cheerful
you're alone, without anyone to guide you down the aisle, and it's a little sad that there's no one from your former life to see you through it
but there's something almost freeing about it too
this is a new start for you both, and you're going to go through it together
Mary-Beth
mary-beth is a bit of a romantic at heart, in my eyes
she doesn't need a big ceremony, or any overly fancy
she just takes you and swanson out to a scenic spot under a very big, old magnolia tree, deep in the woods
(we're ignoring the fact that he probably wouldn't be nice about the two of you because fiction can be catharsis and all that)
tilly and karen are there as witnesses, bridesmaids, and hosea offers to lead you through the wood in place of your father
it's quiet and scenic; something you'll think about for the rest of your life
she has her vows planned out, flowery poetry and gushing prose
next to it yours feel a little overdone and stiff, but you say them anyway
she's sweet and honest and perfect and even if you're not 'really' married you'll love her until the day you die
