Fundip is great because it’s like someone said “Children really just want to shovel sugar straight into their mouths, so let’s let them do that!”
“And what should be the vehicle by which they get the sugar to the mouth?”
“MORE SUGAR.”

Happy Halloween, my dudes!
Meet Paige and Rose, my mom's usual go-to sitters for Rey.
"'Sitters?'" I laughed. "What are you—a loth-cat?"
"Well, they can't be my babysitters, because I'm not a baby!" Rey huffed.
...Anyway. Paige is my age. Rose is eighteen...and also? Weirdly obsessed with me.
"You're Ben Solo!" Rose said when she first laid eyes on me. "The Ben Solo!"
I get that often enough that I kinda like to milk it, just a little bit. I struck a cocky stance. "Yeah, that's me—son of Alderaan's last princess, nephew of the Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker—"
"—and author of Ask Ben Solo. I've read your entire blog. Four times."
Ooh. Oooooh.
Cringe.
Rose spent the entire night glued to my side, asking me questions about things that had happened in my teenage years that even I don't remember—but, hey! I finally found someone who wanted to listen to all 15,000 words of my KOR OC's tragic backstory!
Also—hi, Rose. Since I know now that you're probably reading this.
"Drop the lost Ask Ben Solo files, Ben! Please!"
"The—the what?"
"Your college memoirs! Your fans deserve to know everything that happened in those mysterious five years of silence!" Rose lowered her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "Me. I'm 'your fans.'"
"Uhh...I'll consider it," I chuckled.
...I wonder how many of my anons were literally just Rose Tico.
Paige is much less social than her sister. I tried talking to her a couple of times, and it didn't really go anywhere—you ask Paige something, and she'll answer you with like five words and go silent again. She kinda has the quietness of someone who's been through hell...and, maybe, hasn't quite made it out yet.
Seems nice, though. And like a good big sister. She kept Rey (and Rose) (okay, fine, AND me) from running into traffic like, ten times.
Paige didn't wear a costume. Rose dressed up as Senator Jar-Jar Binks (and now that I'm a Nabooian citizen, I found that sort of...distasteful, but I chose not to comment on it).
I dressed up as my KOR character, Kylo Ren. He has a super-cool scar on his face that is totally not the result of a slippery-bathtub-shaving-accident. Also—he? And the Dark Lady Revan? Are so totally married and in love or whatever.
Not because I’m into that sap, of course. Just because I want Revan and Kylo to have insanely-overpowered evil Sith babies together. (REVLO FOREVER, I will not tolerate anti-Revlo hate on this blog, BYE.)
Rey, as promised, dressed up as Emperor Palpatine, and had a Force-lightning prop she had made out of cellu-board. "Goooood, gooooooood!" she cackled whenever someone filled her bucket with candy. Despite being a wiry little thirteen-year-old girl, the Palpatine character seemed to come really...naturally to her. Weird.
Well, Happy Halloween!! Rey and I are about to have a candy-eating contest—and I have to prove to her that I ain't boring now just because I got old.

Like every Friday night, you and your friends are lounging on the couches in the Common Room, glad that another busy week of school is over and the weekend has finally begun.
Since you are during the Halloween season, the only thing you could steal from the kitchens was candy and treats, not that any of you were complaining, since in addition to those you had a good dose of incendiary whiskey, courtesy of Sirius, who had managed to bribe the Hogsmeade bar and buy a couple.
You are all now more than tipsy, some more than less. Lily and James are making out in the corner, as if they were alone in the world and that all their friends hadn't been gagging at their sappiness. Sirius sat with Mary, Dorcas and his brother Regulus around the fire, and they are discussing the latest Quidditch matches, while still passing the bottle of alcohol around, laughing between sips. Peter is asleep in the armchair, in his mouse form, having drunk almost an entire bottle by himself, while you and your boyfriend Remus are sitting on the couch.
Remus has his legs spread apart, on which yours rest, since you are placed sideways. On your waist lies the last bowl of candy and chocolates that you have, which you and your boyfriend are arranging to disappear, eating them all.
You can't help but stare at it, admiring its beauty in the firelight illuminating the room with an air charged with magic. You watch his scars, his full lips, his unruly hair falling over his forehead, and his hazel eyes examining which dessert to take one after another. Your mind clouded by alcohol cannot help but think of one and only one thing: kiss him until you are out of breath. Could you die? Yes. Would that be the most beautiful way to die? Of course it would. Would you do it a billion more times? Obviously.
He turns, feeling your gaze on him, and looks at you questioningly.
"Am I dirty in the face?" He asks touching his mouth, wiping it clean. You can't help but roll your eyes.
"I wouldn't be surprised if I were you, given the amount of chocolates you're eating."  You say.
"Feel lucky that I share my treats with you." He says before taking another chocolate. "I have to eat if I want to become a big bad wolf, the most I am now is the slim clumsy wolf." He says with his mouth full. You can't help but smile to see that for once he's talking about the other except in a completely negative way, even if it's all just because of the alcohol.
"I left all the chocolate to you." You respond by taking another candy.
He smiles at you, moves closer and kisses you noisily, almost comically.
"That's why I love you." He exclaims, pulling away from the kiss. You don't pull away though, you stay close. You don't know how, probably his intoxicating scent, sugars and alcohol help and you can't help but say whatever is on your mind.
"You look really cute tonight." You whisper looking into his eyes. "In fact, not just cute, awfully sexy, too." You continue, smiling.
"That's funny because I was thinking the same thing about you." He continues before kissing you again as Sirius cries out in despair.
"Guys please don't start making out too that we already have those other two practically about to procreate our nephew and our niece in front of us."
Needless to say, Sirius took two pillows to the face for that sentence: one from Remus and one from Lily, who, however, could not help but laugh.

Lisa (Witch AU!) - Trick-Or-Treat
A/N: Happy pre-Halloween! Enjoy this early Halloween fic (so you have something to return to when you cry your eyes out at the other fic in store for this week.)
TW: Mentions of a haunted house, fluffy fluff, consider this as my apology for what is to come :^)
Tumblr media
“Hey, wait up!” You call after your niece and nephew run ahead to the next house.
“They’ll be fine, babe.” Lisa squeezes your hand as you continue walking down the road.
“Are you sure?” You look at her expectantly, and she gives you a comforting smile.
“Of course. And if they’re not, then you’re in luck because you’ve got a hot witch girlfriend who can save them.” Lisa winks at you, and you give her a teasing shove.
“Hey, I never said that!” A prominent blush arises on your face as you stop and fold your arms across your chest.
“I seem to recall that last night-” Lisa is interrupted by the sounds of excited screaming from your sibling’s kids.
“Whatever, it doesn’t matter.” You let the blush settle onto your face as you continue walking ahead.
“So, does that mean that I won?”
“As if!”
-
“Whoa, Aunt Lisa, look what happened to that house!” Your niece points to an abandoned house that’s slightly down the road.
That house has definitely seen better days.
“No, don’t go in there!” Your nephew blocks the pathway that you all were just walking on. “I heard from the kids at school that someone was murdered in there a couple of years ago, and that their ghost still haunts the house.”
“That’s nonsense.” You wave away your nephew as you lead your niece along. “Don’t let him scare you, honey.”
“But it’s true! The kids at my school say that another ghost lived there, and that the two of them wander the house together, in search of their respective killers.” Your nephew bounces alongside you as he continues walking.
“Another thing that they say is that the person who owned the house saw the original ghost and went crazy, which led them to kill their best friend, who actually befriended the ghost. And now the two of them are in love, plus-”
“That’s enough.” You shush the boy as you turn to your teary-eyed niece. “Ghosts aren’t real, and if they were, Aunt Lisa would protect you. Isn’t that right, babe?”
Lisa hums in response before scooping your niece up in her arms. “You’ve got nothing to be scared of. Most of the creatures that he talks about aren’t even real. How about we go home and eat some of that candy that you got?”
Your niece cheers along with your nephew as you continue walking along. A chill runs down your back as you walk past the decrepit house.
It’s nothing, Y/N. Just walk by, and nothing will happen to you.
-
Your niece and nephew are currently crashed on your couch, burned out from the sugar and all of the walking. You smile at the sight while pulling a blanket over them.
They’re just the cutest things.
“I suppose you’re thinking about kids now, right?” Lisa jokingly says, and you huff in response.
“Not for now. These two are a handful on their own.”
Lisa silently agrees with your statement as she pulls you closer.
“Today was a lot of fun.”
“Do you think the kids had fun?” You turn your head towards Lisa.
“I’m sure they did.” You smile as you both enjoy the adorable sight in front of you.
I love sweet moments like this where we can let the world pass us by.

Cassian was happier than he ever thought he’d be.
Over the past few weeks, he, Nesta, and Nyx had really become their own little family. It seemed that after all the heartache, after all the awkwardness, everything was falling into place.
Since that night they had slept together, again, Cassian had spent every night with Nesta in her bed, and awoken to her face every morning.
Cassian had been training his replacement at the bar, and the opening of his bar in Nesta’s restaurant was quickly approaching.
Perfect.
Everything was going perfectly.
It was a Saturday and both he and Nesta had off, which meant they got the rarity of spending the entire day together, just the three of them.
And it was Halloween.
There was a little Halloween carnival going on downtown, just outside of the Rainbow along the Sidra.
And although Cassian was happier than he ever thought he’d be, he did feel completely and utterly ridiculous as he looked in the mirror and saw his reflection, dressed in the Halloween costume that Nesta had bought for him.
It could have been worse, he decided, donning the floppy hat it had come with. He didn’t have paint all over his face and he wasn’t dressed as a dog, like Rhys had been the year prior. Just a smidge of eyeliner Nesta had coerced him into letting her put on him. And he may only have one hand, thanks to the “hook” he had to wear, but at least he had a bad ass looking sword.
Even if it was plastic.
Nesta appeared in the doorway, wearing a green dress and matching slippers, complete with white balls of fluff adorning the toes. “You about ready to go, Captain Hook?”
He slowly turned to look at her. “Is it the hair? Hmm? Are you one of those girls where long hair automatically means pirate?”
Nesta raised a brow as she crossed her arms. “Are you complaining?”
Cassian blinked. “These leather pants are so tight that I don’t think my balls are going to survive the day.”
Nesta’s grin was feral. “I promise to make it up to the boys once we’re back home.”
Cassian’s eyes narrowed. “Tease.”
“Not a tease,” she crooned. “A promise.”
She gave him a wink before leaving the room and walking down the hall. After a curse about how turned on he now was, Cassian followed.
At the bottom of the stairs in the living room, Nyx was standing up in his little Peter Pan costume. Cassian laughed, quietly. “You put the poor kid in tights.”
“He looks adorable!” Nesta hollered, from where she had disappeared in the kitchen.
Nyx looked at Cassian for a moment, slightly confused, but then recognition lit his eyes and he giggled, reaching up for his uncle. The second Cassian picked him up, Nyx was playing with his floppy hat.
“Pretty damn cute, alright,” Cassian said, chuckling. “Ready, Nes? Bands start playing soon. A couple of local bands I know will be playing, I think you’ll like them.”
Nesta swept out of the kitchen with a tiny cooler bag full of water, juice, and snacks. “Then let’s get going.”
After a short ride and a short walk, they entered the carnival and spotted Elain, Azriel, and Seph sitting in the grass, listening to the music. Azriel was dressed as Tigger, Elain was Pooh, and Seph was the cutest Piglet they had ever seen.
Cassian plopped down by Azriel and chuckled. “And I thought my costume was bad.”
Azriel looked over at him. “Shut up, Captain Jack.”
Cassian gasped indignantly. “I’m Captain Hook, you heathen.” He held up his left hand and shook the cheap, plastic hook in his face. “Get your pirates straight.”
The cousins were instantly squealing at each other, Seph having recently started crawling and Nesta couldn’t help but smile down at them as she sat next to Cassian. He slung an arm around her and pulled her into him, kissing the top of her head.
Nesta looked at Elain and caught her small smile, even though she tried to turn away before her older sister caught her. “What?” She asked, raising an eyebrow.
Elain shook her head, but that smile was still on her face. “Nothing.”
“Tell me,” Nesta said, leaning forward to see her around Cassian and Azriel.
“It’s just…” Elain blinked and Nesta could’ve sworn she saw tears shimmering in her sister’s eyes. “It’s just nice to see you happy.”
Nesta stilled for a moment. Was she happy? She supposed she was. It had all happened so quickly that Nesta hadn’t hardly realized.
She was happy.
Judging from his laughter with Azriel, and the way his fingers brushed along her skin, Nesta assumed that Cassian was happy, too.
“It’s a good thing, you know,” Elain whispered, when Nesta said nothing. “A very good thing.”
Nesta remained quiet, but she leaned into Cassian’s side with a little smile of her own.
The music began to play, and Nyx was having the time of his little life. He stood and danced, having no idea what was going on, but loving every second of it.
There were small tents set up around the carnival, passing out candy and other little toys and treats for the kids. Helion was there, at a tent sponsored by Nesta’s restaurant, handing out cookies and brownies she’d spent the past few days baking. Nesta had always loved Halloween, and having Nyx to enjoy it with made her love it all the more. They walked around while the bands continued to play, Nyx’s little bucket filling up with more candy and treats than the little boy could ever eat. Cassian ensured Nesta that it would not go to waste, but she just rolled her eyes.
“You know, I’ve always been a fan of Tinker Bell,” Cassian said, while they were eating candy apples.
Nesta looked at him, brow raised. “Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for Hook.”
Cassian chuckled, looking at Nyx while he nibbled on some goldfish that Nesta had packed in the cooler bag. “And what about Cassian?” Cassian asked. “Are you a fan of him?”
Nesta laughed, softly. “Are you asking me if I like you, Nazari?”
Cassian’s eyes lit with amusement. “I care about you, Nesta. That’s what I’m saying.”
The words she longed to say got stuck in her throat. The truth she’d wanted to tell him since his birthday over a month ago, when they’d finally succumbed to their desire for each other. But she wouldn’t. She couldn’t, not here, not right now, with strangers around them. Elain and Azriel weren’t far, but…
Something about those words. She wanted it just to be the two of them.
So Nesta chose to smirk instead, reaching over and rubbing caramel off his cheek. “You aren’t half bad, I guess.”
He sighed, dramatically, looking up into the sky. “I knew it, you’re only in it for the sex.”
“Cassian!” She blushed furiously, hoping no one had overheard him.
Grinning, he leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers. Nyx threw a goldfish at them, hitting Cassian in the side of the face.
Nesta couldn’t stop her laughter as she pulled back.
Even after a month, Nyx didn’t like Cassian kissing her. The fit he threw the first time he’d seen them kiss on the couch while he was playing with his toys on the floor and they watched a movie would go down in history as the worst meltdown the two of them had seen.
Nesta thought his continued, but lessening, tantrums were hilarious. Cassian could only roll his eyes.
“Was that necessary?” Cassian asked.
“Da,” Nyx said, popping a goldfish into his mouth. It was the closest thing he’d come to yes thus far.
“He used to like me, you know,” Cassian said, looking at Nesta, “before the two of us were together.”
Nesta shrugged. “He’s protective, what can I say?”
“You can say, to him, that you like it when I kiss you,” Cassian replied.
Nesta laughed as Nyx threw another goldfish at Cassian. “He’s smart, Cass. He may be a baby, but he knows you’re talking smack over here.”
“I would never talk smack about a baby,” Cassian said, taking a bite of his caramel apple. “Even if it’s true.”
It wasn’t too much later that Nyx was falling asleep, his little, green cap long forgotten and tucked into the pocket of Cassian’s obnoxious coat. He gently rubbed Nyx’s back as he slept on the blanket they’d laid out on the lush grass. Footsteps and a groan alerted him to Azriel’s presence as he sat down next to Cassian. Seph, in a carrier strapped to his chest, had been asleep for nearly an hour already. Cassian couldn’t help but smile at his brother and niece.
“So you two are actually making this work, huh,” Azriel said, smiling down at Nyx.
Cassian’s laughter sounded as if even he had a hard time believing it. “I guess so. It’s just…so easy with her.”
“I get it. I completely get it,” Azriel said, looking at something over Cassian’s shoulder, and from the way his eyes softened, he knew his brother’s gaze had found Elain.
“I think she feels the same way,” Cassian said. “She’s hard to read, though. Easier than she used to be - thank the Mother - but sometimes… I just want to grab her by the shoulders and ask her what the hell is on her mind.”
Azriel snorted. “Nesta is…”
When he didn’t complete his sentence, Cassian raised an amused brow.
“An interesting woman,” Azriel finished, at last.
Cassian laughed, quietly. “Yeah, she is. But, that’s what I like about her. She’s not a surface-level person, you know? She’s like an onion.”
Azriel blinked. “An onion?”
Cassian nodded. “A lot of layers.”
Azriel laughed, quietly. “I would keep that one to yourself. Not sure how Nesta would feel about being called a vegetable that makes you cry.”
Cassian chuckled, and shrugged. “I think it sounds nice.”
Azriel grinned and looked down at Seph. “Do you see it working out long term, then?”
“You make it sound like a legal document,” Cassian replied, snorting.
Azriel shook his head. “Fine. I’ll ask it simpler, then. Do you love her?”
He hesitated. “It’s only been a month.”
“And?” Azriel asked. “You’ve lived together for half a year. You've known her for over five years.”
Cassian was quiet. He contemplated Azriel’s question, watching the gentle rise and fall of Nyx’s breathing. “I don’t know.”
“You still think Rhys and Feyre didn’t know what they were doing when they set you up all those years ago?”
Looking up at Azriel, Cassian wasn’t expecting to find him smiling softly. “I still think they were bat shit insane,” he chuckled. “But… No. I get it now. They… They just wanted to give us the chance to be as happy as they were.”
“And are you?” Azriel asked, curiosity on his face.
Cassian looked around, finding Nesta laughing with Elain and Mor and Emerie and Gwyn. The smile as he watched her wasn’t faked. “Yeah. I am.”
Azriel’s smile was as genuine as his own. “Then I think you know.”
*
It had been a good day, and an even better night.
Nyx fell asleep in his carseat on the way home, and Nesta had gotten him out of his costume and into a fresh diaper and pajamas without him hardly stirring. After that, when Nesta meandered into her bedroom, she found a half-dressed pirate with a mischievous glint in his eye. He had made a show of taking Nesta’s costume off with his hook, which had her unable to stop the wide smile, the giggling, that escaped her control.
It was all sweet, adorable play until his lips found her skin, and then Nesta’s giddiness faded away as complete euphoria took control of her body.
They laid together as Halloween faded away and November 1st approached. Nesta’s fingers danced over his bare chest.
“Today was a fun day,” she said, quietly, as she watched her fingers move along his tattoos.
“It was,” he murmured, already half asleep, his arm wrapped around her, tucking her into his side. He had spent most of his day chasing down Nyx, while Nesta had watched, a smile on her face, as Elain took picture after picture. She’d promised to email the best ones to Nesta as soon as she’d edited them.
She could tell Cassian was exhausted as she looked up into his handsome face, the eyeliner still smudged under his eyes. Sensing her gaze on him, he cracked an eye open and looked at her. “What?”
She shook her head, laying it back down on his chest. “You still have make-up on,” she chuckled.
“What?” He asked. “You don’t think I look pretty?”
Snorting, she nestled into his warm body, settling as his calloused fingers scraped over bare waist. She felt his lips press against the top of her head and in that moment, she realized that this was how it was supposed to be. Nothing had ever felt as…right as this did. As being with him did.
“Cass?”
He grunted in answer, and Nesta realized he was just about asleep.
She decided not to reveal the bit of truth she’d been about to, not when he very well might not remember it the next day.
Instead, she settled her head back on his chest, and said, “I had fun today.”
He mumbled something that sounded like me too, but within seconds, his breath had evened out, and he was asleep.
She wouldn’t reveal that bit of herself, not tonight. But tomorrow…
Tomorrow, she would tell him.
And she prayed he felt the same way.
*
It was hardly after eight when Nesta woke up and found Cassian beside her, in bed, with a sleeping Nyx on his chest. He was scrolling through his phone, his back propped up against the headboard, his sweatpants nearly blending into the navy blue comforter.
Nesta blinked a few times before she yawned and said, “Good morning.”
Cassian’s eyes darted away from his phone, to her. He smiled. “Good morning. Little man woke up about an hour ago. Fell asleep again five minutes ago or so. Apparently he got worn out yesterday.”
Nesta chuckled. “I’d say so.”
“I was going to put him in his crib but he seems comfortable,” Cassian said. “I can, though, if you want me to make breakfast.”
Nesta shook her head as she propped herself up on her elbows. “That’s okay. I can make breakfast. I was in a french toast type of mood.”
“Sounds good,” Cassian crooned, and Nesta reached up to kiss him, softly, before dragging herself out of bed. After slipping on some cozy shorts and one of Cassian’s oversized t-shirts, she was headed downstairs.
Sunday mornings were her favorite, nowhere for either of them to be. Just time together and time with Nyx. She was humming quietly to herself after she’d made a pot of coffee, pulling what she needed to make French toast and bacon out of the fridge when there was a sudden knock on the front door.
Nesta froze, listening to ensure she had in fact heard—
Another knock, just as insistent as the first.
“Was that the door?” Cassian was carrying Nyx downstairs, the baby’s pacifier barely staying in his mouth as he sleepily leaned his head on his uncle’s bare shoulder.
“Yeah,” she replied, eyebrows furrowing as she reached the door and opened it.
Nesta froze as she found Alis Birch on the other side.
“Ms. Archeron, good morning,” she said, eyeing her choice of attire.
“Ms. Birch, good morning. What a surprise,” she said, trying not to panic.
“I hope it’s a good time,” she said, looking past Nesta to see what chaos she could find. “This is the last of my surprise visits.”
“I see,” Nesta said, then cleared her throat as she stepped aside. “Come in, please.”
Alis did not need to be told twice. She swept past Nesta and into the foyer, where Cassian caught sight of her. He stopped as their eyes met, and he hesitated.
“Ms. Birch,” he said, as if it were a pleasant surprise. “Nice to see you again.”
“You too,” she said, looking at Nyx. “Big Halloween, was it?”
“Fun Halloween,” Cassian corrected. “We were at the carnival downtown for most of the day. He had a blast.”
Alis nodded, but said no more.
“Have a seat,” Nesta said, gesturing to the living room furniture. “Please.”
Alis sat in a chair while Cassian carefully and slowly sat back on the couch, Nesta sitting beside him.
Before anyone could say anything else, Alis said, “The two of you have become intimate.”
Nesta swallowed roughly while Cassian could only blink. After a moment, she collected herself. “I—We…”
“It’s fairly recent,” Cassian admitted, taking over when it was clear Nesta was floundering.
She wanted to demand how she could tell, but she was very clearly wearing his shirt while he wore nothing at all, aside from his sweats. They were cooking breakfast while the baby dozed. It was all so…domestic.
Alis would have been blind not to notice it.
She hummed once before opening her notebook and scribbling a few notes down. “The two of you have come a long way in a few months then, since you were barely even friends the last time I was here.” She threw Nesta’s own half-drunk words into their faces.
“Things have changed,” she breathed, yearning to reach over and take Cassian’s hand, but not wanting to look weak in front of the woman.
The woman who controlled whether or not they’d be keeping Nyx.
“So, this is not a fling, then?” Alis asked.
Cassian opened his mouth, but it was Nesta who politely said, “I’m sorry, but I’m not sure how our romantic life is an appropriate topic-.”
“Oh, it is most appropriate,” Alis assured them both. “If this is nothing but a fling, it could create a lot of drama in the home, which could in turn affect Nyx’s well being. However, if this is love, something that will become steadier day by day, then I could not be more overjoyed.”
You don’t sound overjoyed, Nesta wanted to say, but didn’t.
“We are aware that everything we do affects Nyx,” Cassian said, not unkindly. “We thought it through before we decided to get together.”
Nesta almost wanted to laugh. Thought it through? They hooked up twice, and the second time it stuck. She wasn’t sure that was exactly thinking it through. In fact, there hadn’t been much thinking at all.
It just kind of...happened.
Nyx had indeed lost his pacifier at some point and patted Cassian on the cheek.
“Babababa,” he chanted, which the two of them had learned meant he wanted his bottle and Cassian stood.
“Excuse me, I’ll be back,” he said, carrying Nyx into the kitchen.
Alis held Nesta’s stare, eventually asking, “Does Nyx have a support system, outside of the home?”
She blinked. “I’m afraid I don’t follow.”
Alis set down her pen and looked at Nesta as if she were the child in this situation. “Let’s say things don’t last. Let’s say whatever is between you and Mr. Nazari isn’t a love match and it falls apart. Aside from the two of you, does Nyx have other people who could step in to take care of him?”
“I don’t see why he would need it,” she replied, her voice cold. “Even if things don’t work out, Cassian and I will still take care of him. Nyx is our responsibility now. We love him.”
“And will you do that from one home?”
“We… I…” Nesta shook her head. “Ma’am, with all due respect, we haven’t even had time to figure out what exactly this is between us.”
Alis scooped up her bag and tucked her notebook against her chest as she stood. “That’s exactly what I’m afraid of. And I’d like the two of you to have that figured out before my next visit. I’ll reach out a few days before, so you can expect me. But I’d like this…” She gestured around her, “situation to be more straightforward before I return.”
She turned and headed for the door.
When Cassian came back, Alis was gone. He blinked, Nyx now awake, downing his milk. “Where’d she go?”
“She left,” Nesta said, quietly. “She’ll let us know when she’s coming next time.”
Cassian’s brows furrowed as he sat next to Nesta on the couch. “What’s wrong?”
Nesta hesitated, then said, “I think she thinks that us getting together is a mistake.”
Cassian looked at Nesta for a moment, then snorted. “She also thought that us living together, unromantically, and raising Nyx was a mistake.”
Nesta said nothing as she watched her hands, quietly.
Cassian’s smile faded away. “What? You don’t think us getting together is a mistake, right?”
“No, of course not,” Nesta said, but it lacked passion.
Cassian watched her. “Nesta.”
“She brings up some good points, Cass,” Nesta breathed.
Cassian’s jaw ticked. “What does that mean?”
Nesta closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “Well, what if we don’t work out? What will happen? We should at least have a plan.”
“You don’t think we’re going to work out?” Cassian asked.
“I don’t even know what we are, Cassian,” she breathed, opening her eyes, but continued staring at her hands. “Am I your girlfriend? Are we exclusive? Is this just what’s convenient for us both?”
Cassian was staring at her, unable to think of anything to say, barely able to understand what had happened in the past thirty minutes since he’d gotten out of bed. “This sure as hell isn’t just about convenience, not for me. But if it is for you, I guess I’d like to know now.”
She still didn’t look at him. “I don’t know, Cass.”
He had no idea what to say, no idea what to do. He shook his head. “I’m going to take Nyx on my jog with me. When we get back, you let me know if this is still convenient for you.”
His voice was colder than she’d heard it in months, barely recognized it as he silently made his way up the stairs. She didn’t move, could hardly think as she heard him get changed and then dress Nyx as well.
Her face fell into her hands.
This isn’t how she wanted the morning to go.
As she laid in bed with him the night before, listening to the steady beating of his heart after he fell asleep, she had a long list of things she wanted to say to him today, had a long list of emotions she wanted him to feel.
Pissed wasn’t one of them.
Unsure wasn’t one of them.
Nothing was going as planned.
It wasn’t until Cassian was carrying a babbling Nyx back down the stairs that Nesta looked up. Cassian wouldn’t meet her eyes.
“Cass-,” she began, but he strode through the living room and out the door, the door closing just a little too hard behind him.
No, this wasn’t how she wanted the day to go.
She didn’t get to tell Nyx goodbye.
She didn’t get to tell Cassian goodbye, or any of the other things she had planned.
But maybe it was for the best. Maybe things would continue to fall into place, just not the place that she had planned.
Nesta sat back on the couch, her face falling back into her hands.
As the first tear fell, she wondered if this was a part of Feyre’s plan.

marauders raising the weasleys part 7 !!!!! (long awaited i’m so sorry but here it is)
- james has gotten each of the kids their own stuffie and they’ve all absolutely adored it , charlie got a dragon (“actually, i think it’s a lizard dad”) percy got a lion, fred and george both got cats, ron got a turtle, and ginny got a giraffe !! they all treasure them, yes even bill, who takes his stuffed cow to hogwarts with him
- lily has a habit of taking pictures and videos of the kids for memories, and so for mother’s day or her birthday, bill takes her camera and films all the kids rambling things about her that they love !!! (ron; “i love mommy’s hair!!” , fred; “mom dances with me around the kitchen!!” )
- when bill was little, he’d get anxious around people and they had to commute to get to his school, so sirius would let him trace words and stars on his arms to help him calm down !! even as a teenager, bill still gets anxious and you can 100% find him seated next to sirius, tracing words and sirius rambling off “did you just trace fuck on my arm you menace”
- the “baby star” charlie has never ever ever been embarrassed of his nickname and one day went to school with tiny star stickers pressed on his cheeks and refused to take them off all day
- ^ he wanted to go as a star for halloween one year but settled on being a cowboy
- percy had to do a project on the solar system one year, but the kids kept bother him when he tried to work on it, so he made them the solar system. charlie was the sun, ron was earth, harry was mercury, ginny was pluto, fred was uranus, george was jupiter, bill was mars! (and yes, the boys joined in james was saturn, sirius was venus, and peter was neptune)
- percy got a 100% simply because remus talked to his teacher before hand and honestly, the project was what was asked of him
- uncle regulus steals a kid for a day !! he does steal one quite often, and they always come back sun kissed and candy filled and they ramble on and on about how “uncle reggie took me to the beach !! we made shell necklaces look mom look !!!”
- speaking of, regulus 100% has pictures of each kid in his wallet because he loves them and shows off his niece and nephews to anyone who listens !! and he takes them whenever he can and teaches them about the stars and wishes and shows them pranks to pull on sirius
- peter got roped into being the parent to go to parent-teacher night for all the kids (bet gone wrong) and he had to explain to fred’s, bills, and ron’s teacher that he was not a single parent and he did not need advice, he was perfectly capable despite the fact that george switched places with fred on the way there
- GEORGE HAS A FLOWER COLLECTION AND A FLOWER FOR EACH OF HIS PARENTS !! everytime he sees that specific flower he has to pick it and rush home to give it to them !! “daddy look look ! i got you a flower!”
- charlie and james do infact what the sunrise every morning because they’re the first people up !!! james makes charlie some hot chocolate (“extra mallows please!!”) and they wrap up in a blanket on the porch !! james tells charlie stories , or sometimes they sit silence, but it’s one of their favorite times of day !! (sometimes remus wakes up and joins them !)
- peter broke his arm once and ginny and percy decorated his cast and would get super mad if anyone else tried to write on it !
- ron really likes to act like he’s a zombie, for some reason (it’s sirius’ fault) ans makes james run around the house so ron can try to catch him
- fred at some point picked up an american accent and talked with it for weeks , lily has no idea where he got it but she 100% joins in because it irritates the boys and puts a huge smile on fred’s face
- JAMES TEACHES BILL AND GINNY HOW TO PLAY THE GUITAR AND GETTS TRHEM GUITARS FOR THEIR BIRTHDAYS AND AT SOME POINT THEY START PLAYING HIM SONGS AND HE DOESNT CRY (yes he does)
- as ron gets older, the nickname “jellybean” doesn’t stick, but lily is the only person that is allowed to call him “bean” ; “bean, come here let me fix your hair” , “james stops thats bean’s book!!”
- ginny takes a little too much after remus , and her “anger issues” are very much present from an early age, so remus himself works with her on how to properly calm down and convey her emotions !! he finds that taking her on broom rides helps a lot, so despite not liking flying, he still does for his little girl !!
- charlie only eats grape flavored candies and so peter has a tiny pouch full of grape flavored suckers and candy labeled with “star’s sweets” that he takes everywhere
- peter is also the one you can see most with the bay carrier, as he almost always has ron or ginny strapped to his chest , and he looks like a suburban dad but he’s the absolute greatest with the babies (better then james and remus atleast)
- the marauders have “dad #1 , #2, #3 , and #4” sweaters that they wear at any school event and when lily can’t make it they look like stressed gay parents trying to cope with 8 kids and they never correct the assumptions

All-New Halloween Spooktacular
Wanda x reader x Vision
"Halloween's a magical holiday," Billy told someone unseen as he walked into the kitchen dressed in a cape. "All about family, friends, and the thrill of getting to be someone else for the day."
"Wrong! Halloween's all about candy!" Tommy informed his brother.
"You're both wrong." Luna piped up from where she sat, eating toast. "It's about scaring people."
"That too." Tommy agreed. "But mostly about candy." He added.
"Where's your costume, Tommy?" Billy questioned, pouring himself a bowl of cereal.
"This is my costume. I'm the cool twin." Tommy told him in a matter-of-fact voice.
"Lame." Luna shook her head.
"What does that make me?" Billy asked, tilting his head to the side.
"A dorkasurus rex," Tommy said, smirking as he remembered the time Billy caused himself to fall playing Dance Dance Revolution.
"Not a real dinosaur." Billy rolled his eyes. "What's your costume, Luna?" He asked, glancing over his sister's grey jacket and pink dress.
"I'm a spy," Luna said, pulling on a pair of sunglasses. "Duh." She added, picking up her plate as the three kids moved into the living room.
Quickly the three ten-year-olds noticed their usual seats on the couch were occupied by their uncle, who was fast asleep and snoring loudly.
"Man, he even snores cool." Tommy quietly exclaimed, Pietro on the couch. "I'm gonna wake him up."
"Don't!" Billy snapped, grabbing Tommy's arm.
"You scared?"
"Why would he be scared, Tommy? He's our uncle." Luna asked, tilting her head.
"'Cause it's four o'clock in the afternoon, and Billy's secretly afraid he's a vampire." Tommy teased.
"No, I'm not!" Billy denied.
"Yes, you are!" Tommy smirked.
"Both of you, be quiet!" Luna hissed.
What none of the kids had noticed was that while they were arguing, Pietro had woken up. Pietro watched the three for a second before he flashed in front of his nephews and niece.
"Blood is thicker than water! I show you!" Pietro roared, causing the kids to scream.
Pietro began to chase the still screaming children around the living room before a loud voice interrupted them.
"Oh! Somebody better be bleeding, broken, or on fire." Wanda said as she rushed down the stairs, all dressed for Halloween.
"Whoa, Mama. Are you old Red Riding Hood?" Billy wondered, causing Wanda to frown.
"I'm a Sokovian fortune teller." His mother told him.
"Wow, that is so,"
"Rad!" Tommy exclaimed.
"Lame," Pietro said, causing Tommy to frown.
"Lame." Tommy agreed.
"Well, think it's cool, Mama," Luna said, smiling at the woman.
"Why, thank you, favorite child," Wanda said with a teasing grin to her other children.
"That costume is worse than the ones mom made us the year we got typhus." Pietro grimaced, staring his sister up and down.
"That's not exactly how I remember it." Wanda frowned, recalling a faint memory of herself, her brother, and an old woman with a fish.
"You probably suppressed a lot of the trauma." Pietro guessed.
"Mom has been weird since uncle Pietro got here," Billy announced, once more talking to someone unseen. "I think it's because she hasn't seen him in a long time, and he's what you call 'a man child.'"
"Want to talk about trauma? Someone drank my coffee this morning." Y/N said as she descended the stairs. "I'm looking at you, Pietro."
"What are you dressed as, Mom?" Tommy asked, looking at his mother.
"I'm Artemis," Y/N told him, pulling a fake bow off her caped back. "She's the Greek Goddess of the Hunt."
"Whoa! Sweet costume, bro-ham-in-law!" Pietro cackled as Vision appeared behind Y/N. "Let me guess, traffic light!" He said, causing Vision to sigh. "Half shucked corn! A booger!"
"Yes." Vision sighed, rolling his eyes.
"Yes!" Pietro exclaimed with a grin before making his way over to the couch.
"Well, thank you two for humoring me," Wanda said, giving her partners an apologetic smile.
"I love Halloween. No-one had to ask me to dress up twice." Y/N shrugged, throwing her bow back onto her back.
"At least you got to choose your costume. I simply had no other clothes in my closet." Vision said before grinning at his wives. "You are incorrigible, darling. I know you have a secret thing for Mexican wrestlers." He told Wanda.
"Mi gusta mucho."
"Ellos son bastante buenos."
"Chili con carne." Vision said, causing his wives to laugh. "What do you say, kiddos? Who's ready for that first hit of high fructose corn syrup?" Vision asked, turning to the kids who were playing a video game with Pietro.
"Yes! Headlock!"
"Get out of here! Get out of here!"
"You never really told us anything about your brother," Y/N said, watching the three with a smile. "He's not what I expected."
"Yes. I had no idea that he'd be so,"
"Go!"
"Great with kids." Vision summarised, throwing his thumb up.
"Yeah, he's just full of surprises." Wanda shook her head.
"Well, I hope the two of you have fun tonight, darlings." Vision said, moving towards the door.
"What? What do you mean? You're all dressed and ready to go." Wanda asked, staring at Vision with wide eyes.
"I'm undercover," Vision told her. "Halloween is a bacchanal for adolescent trouble-makers, and the neighborhood watch is the only thing that stands between the trees and toilet paper." He explained.
"Ah yes, the age-old enemy. Children with toilet paper." Y/N teased her husband with a smirk.
"No. That's not what you're supposed to,"
"What?" Vision cut her off, causing Wanda to cross her arms and sigh.
"Well, you didn't tell me you had plans."
"Vis told me last night, Wand," Y/N announced, causing Wanda to narrow her eyes.
"And you're okay with this?"
"Mama, Mom, and Dad have been, well, not fighting, just different," Billy announced to the unseen person.
"Okay with it? Vis is going out with the neighborhood watch. What's there to be okay about?" Y/N wondered.
"It's the kid's first Halloween. We all have to be there with them." Wanda demanded.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. What's the big dealio?" Pietro whispered as he came to stand with the three. "The big guy has conflict. The kids need a father figure for the night. Don't sweat it, guys. I got the old XY chromosome. Uncle P to the rescue! Huh?" He suggested.
"There you go. Problem solved." Vision agreed, lightly punching Pietro in the shoulder. "You have a spooky time tonight, kids."
"Goodnight, Dad!"
"Bye, Dad!"
"Love you, Dad!"
"Sweethearts, be good." He said (mostly to Wanda) as he kissed both women's cheeks. "I smell crime."
"Oh, hang on, I need to put the pumpkin out," Y/N said before Vision left the house.
She grabbed the jack-o-lantern from beside the door and followed Vision outside, shutting the door behind her.
"You understand your part of the plan?" Vision whispered.
"I'll keep Wanda distracted and keep my eyes open," Y/N whispered to her husband. "Be careful?" She asked.
"Always, darling," Vision promised, quickly pulling Y/N into an embrace before taking his leave.
"Where do you keep your water balloons?" Y/N heard as she re-entered the house.
"What? We don't have water balloons." Wanda said as Y/N locked the front door.
"Not anymore. Wanda won't let me keep them in the house." Y/N teased, coming to stand beside her wife.
"Then where are we gonna put all this shaving cream?" Pietro asked, holding up two cans. Cans Y/N had no idea as to where they'd come from. "It was Luna's idea!" Pietro defended himself.
"I'm Tommy," Tommy said, holding a shopping bag in his hands.
"And don't you forget it!"
"You two don't even have costumes," Wanda said, looking between her brother and son.
Pietro let out a scoff as he held a hand out towards Tommy. When the boy took it, Pietro sped the two out of the house, and when they reappeared, they were in matching costumes.
"Okay, but just remember that this is a respectable family." Wanda sighed. "If I see any funny business, I am going to magic you into a pickled herring." She said, causing Pietro to cringe.
"C'mon Billy, Luna, let's get your pillowcases," Y/N said, causing the kids to jump to their feet. "It's T-minus ten to our Halloween spooktacular!" She grinned.
Back at SWORD headquarters, agents were in a flurry after Wanda's appearance.
"I wanna see a full work-up inside the hour," Hayward demanded of the agents examining the missile that was still glowing with Wanda's power.
"Yes, sir."
"Hayward. Hayward! You cut us off at the knees sending in that missile." Monica snapped, rushing after the director.
"Now we know who we're dealing with." He shrugged.
"There he is! The man who almost got murdered by his own team." Clint clapped, causing Hayward to snap around.
"Why are you still here?" He demanded.
"Because that's my family in there," Clint told the man.
"And he's with us," Darcy said, standing beside Clint with Monica on her other side.
"I see, so if he's the struggling father, which of you is the sassy best friend?"
"There is no time for you to diminish your colleagues when you're about to start a war you can't win." Jimmy admonished, standing on Clint's other side.
"Maximoff was never going to negotiate with us." Hayward waved him off. "We take her out, and this whole nightmare ends."
"We don't know that," Monica told him.
"And we're never going to now." Clint scoffed.
"We have no idea what will happen in there or out here if Wanda dies." Monica reasoned.
"So what? We just surrender to that?" Hayward exclaimed, glaring at the red energy field behind him. "Not happening."
"We can't outgun her, and clearly antagonizing her is only making things worse. If Wanda is the problem, then she has to be our solution!"
"Captain Rambeau, Agent Barton, the two of you have become an impediment to this mission," Hayward told the two, causing Monica to sigh heavily.
"Technically, I was never assigned to anything." Clint shrugged.
"Constantly advocating on behalf of super-power-based individuals. Yes, I know your history with Carol Danvers. You know, you people who left still have the luxury of optimism. You have no idea what it was like what it took to keep the lights." Hayward shook his head.
"Monica might not have been around, but I was," Clint spoke up. "I remember what it took, and I can never forget. Wanda dusted. Y/N dusted. The two came back to a world where nothing was the same, and Vision was dead. Vision who had to die by Wanda's own hand."
"That's not an excuse for what Maximoff's doing. And the snap wasn't an excuse for what you did during those five years either." The director said, causing Clint to flinch.
"Don't use the last five years to be a coward, Tyler." Monica snapped, causing Hayward to direct his attention back to her.
"Maybe it's a good thing you weren't here when your mother died. Because clearly, you don't have the stomach for this job." Hayward said, causing the air to knock right out of Monica's lungs. "Get her off my base. Get them all out." He demanded the agents, who immediately surrounded the four.
"Yes, sir. All right, come on. Let's go." One of the agents said, pulling Monica out of the room, the other three not far behind.
"Hayward is way overstepping his provisional authority," Jimmy complained.
"He was looking for a reason to sideline us," Clint commented from his side.
"He's up to something." Monica agreed as they came to a stop at a van.
"Let's go, everybody in." An agent demanded.
With a second's hesitation, Jimmy punched the agent holding him. Monica and Clint quickly followed Jimmy's lead and attacked the guards holding them. Slamming the men into the truck and the ground, the three made quick work of the agents while Darcy watched in shock.
"Why didn't anyone tell me the plan?" Darcy demanded once all the agents were dispatched.
"You okay?" Jimmy asked Clint and Monica.
"Always am," Clint grunted, rolling his shoulder.
"Yeah, let's move." Monica sighed. Quickly the four found themselves SWORD ponchos and dragged the agents into a storage shed, far out of the way.
"This is it. Game time." Tommy told the same unseen person Billy had spoken to.
"It's not a competition, Tommy." Billy sighed.
"Everything can be a competition, Billy," Luna said with a grin.
"Luna's right. It's even better when you're the winner." Tommy said before running off.
"Tommy!" Billy groaned before running after his older brother, with Luna in tow.
"Unleash hell, demon spawn!" Pietro cheered.
"Someone's got to follow after them," Y/N said, pressing a kiss to her wife's cheek. "God knows how many bones they'd break without someone watching." She added, following after the kids.
When Wanda and Pietro were alone, Wanda gave her brother a smile before taking a step towards him.
"Do you remember when we were at the orphanage after Mom and Dad died? What was the name of the kid who was always trying to steal your boots?" Wanda asked him. "You know, he was the one with the. He had the, he had the skin thing."
"You're testing me," Pietro said, pointing at his younger sister.
"No, I'm not." She immediately denied it.
"Hey, it's cool. I know I look different." Pietro said, gesturing to his hair.
"Why do you look different?" Wanda wondered.
"You tell me." Pietro shrugged. "I mean, if I found Shangri-La, I wouldn't wanna be reminded of the past either." He said, causing Wanda to freeze.
"Next house, Mama!" Tommy said as he and his siblings rushed over to the Maximoff siblings with Y/N right behind.
"Junior entrepreneur, over here!" Pietro grinned. "How about you let Uncle P help you maximize your candy acquisition, huh?"
"That'd be so cool!" Luna grinned.
"Yeah! Kick-ass!" Tommy agreed.
"I feel the need," Pietro stated, holding his hand out to Tommy.
"For speed!" Tommy cheered, taking Pietro and Billy's hand. Billy grabbed onto Luna's hand, and with that, the four were off.
Speeding around the neighborhood for candy.
"Kick-ass," Wanda murmured as Y/N chuckled.
"I certainly didn't teach them that word," Y/N said as they began to walk down the street.
"Sweetheart, you swear more than anyone else I've ever met," Wanda told the woman.
"Lies and blasphemy!" Y/N gasped, causing Wanda to giggle.
"Oh! Hey, Herb!" Wanda said upon spotted their neighbor dressed as Frankenstein.
"Hey, guys!" Herb smiled as the two approached.
"How's patrol going?" Wanda asked politely.
"Any trees meet the dreaded toilet paper yet?" Y/N smirked.
"No, not yet." Herb chuckled. "It's been quiet so far." He said before his com began to chatter. "Hold up, will you? Say again?" He asked his com. "All the candy has disappeared?" He asked, causing the two women to freeze.
Behind the man, Wanda and Y/N could vaguely make out the blue blur of Pietro speeding the kids around and causing hijinks.
"And now all the jack-o-lanterns have been smashed?" Herb asked as the kids let out a loud cheer. "And now everyone's covered in silly string?"
"Whoo!" Pietro cheered loudly.
"Sorry, girls, but I gotta bounce." Herb apologized.
"Well, maybe Vision can help you out," Wanda suggested.
"Vision? He's not on duty."
"Oh, isn't he?" Y/N asked, playing along with Wanda's confusion.
"We just thought,"
"Is there something I can do for you, Wanda?" Herb asked, sensing Wanda's confusion. "Do you want something changed?" He questioned, causing Y/N to frown.
"No, it's fine." Wanda shook her head, grabbing Y/N's hand and squeezing it comfortingly. "Never mind."
"All right. Peace." Herb smiled before walking away.
"That was good, sweetheart." Y/N complimented her wife.
"I'm always good." Wanda shrugged, giving Y/N a smile.
Vision was on the other side of town while his family trick-or-treated.
The further away Vision got away from his home and family, the stranger Vision noticed the town's people were.
He had noticed people robotically repeating their actions with blank expressions.
Vision stared at a woman and her husband for several seconds before he had to tear his gaze away when the woman shed a single tear.
Meanwhile, the group of six had made their way to the town's center, where the committee had set up a festival of sorts.
"This is so lame. I can't believe you're making the kids return all the candy." Pietro groaned as Y/N led the kids away.
"I can't believe what a bad influence you are," Wanda said, turning to Pietro with crossed arms.
"Who beefed in your borscht?" Pietro asked, causing Wanda to tilt her head. "I'm just doing my part, okay? Come to town unexpectedly, create tension with the in-laws, stir up trouble with the rugrats and ultimately give you grief. I mean, that's what you wanted, isn't it?" He asked her.
"What happened to your accent?" Wanda questioned, pointing a gloved finger at her brother.
"What happened to yours?" He fired back. "Details are fuzzy, man. I got shot like a chump on the street for no reason at all, and the next thing I know, I heard you calling me. I knew you needed me." Pietro admitted as Y/N came back over.
"Alright, candy is returned, the kids are still being sourballs about it, but it's done." She clapped, standing beside her wife.
"Thank goodness for that." Wanda smiled.
"Uncle P, guess what?" Tommy exclaimed as he and his siblings ran over.
"They've got full-size candy bars a few blocks up! Mama, Mom, can we go?" Billy begged before his brother rushed away.
Tommy rushed away in a blur of blue.
"Next stop, Cavity Town!" Tommy cheered, reappearing with three candy bars in hand.
Everyone turned to stare at Tommy in surprise before Pietro let out a cheer.
"Right on, little dude! Chip off the old Maximoff block! You've got super speed!"
"I do?"
"Yeah!" Pietro grinned, holding a hand out to his nephew, who eagerly jumped to high-five him.
"It's okay, baby. You can take it slow, and you can," Wanda started to tell the boy but was cut off when he sped away.
"That's my boy." Y/N grinned as Tommy cheered loudly.
Wanda allowed Tommy to speed around the five for a few minutes before she threw her hand out and pulled the boy to a stop.
"If you're going to break the sound barrier, please take your siblings with you," Wanda begged.
"Really?" Billy asked excitedly.
"Really?" Tommy asked sadly.
"Really, yeah. And please just remember to-"
"Don't go past Ellis Avenue." The twins chorused in unison.
"And?" Y/N wondered.
"Always stick together." They added.
"We know. We know." Tommy said as Billy took his hand.
"Luna, are you coming?" Billy asked his sister, who shook her head.
"I think I want to look at the stalls," Luna told him, glancing behind her at the stalls that were lined up.
"Oh, good idea. I'll come with you." Y/N said, taking her daughter's hand.
"Hey! be careful!" Wanda called as her family all went their separate ways.
Leaving her with Pietro.
Outside the Hex, Monica, Clint, Jimmy, and Darcy were sneaking their way to an empty tent.
"I'm just trying to do my part, okay? Come to town unexpectedly, create tension with the in-laws,"
"Who is that?" Monica asked, staring at the man on the screen.
"Wanda's brother came to town," Jimmy told the woman.
"That's not the punk I remember," Clint said, staring at the screen in confusion.
"Yeah, he's got a new face." Darcy scoffed.
"Over here." Jimmy quietly called. Monica and Darcy quickly rushed over to Jimmy while Clint continued to stare at the screen.
"What happened to your accent?"
"What happened to yours?"
"We shouldn't stick around here much longer." Clint coughed, pulling his eyes away once his daughter appeared on the screen.
"Give me two seconds. I just need to hack into the secure network on the base." Darcy told everyone as she typed away frantically at the computer. "Donezo! Now, should be able to access the data on Hayward's devices." She said, connecting the USB to her laptop. "Oh, that's interesting. Guys, Hayward figured out a way to look into the boundary."
"And he didn't share with the group." Monica scoffed.
"Is this Wanda, right here?" Jimmy asked, pointing to a glowing dot on Darcy's screen.
"No, the program is tracking the decay signature of vibranium," Darcy told him.
"Vision."
"Why is Hayward tracking Vision?" Clint asked.
"I don't know. This is all I can access so far." Darcy told him.
"These other dots, those are Westview residents?" Jimmy wondered.
"The ones in Vision's immediate vicinity, yeah." Darcy nodded.
"So Hayward must have an accurate headcount by now." Jimmy summarised.
"Hayward's got to have some sense of their well-being. Where would that be?" Clint asked, playing around with the screen.
"Not sure."
"These people near the edge of town, they're bearly moving. Are they even alive?" Jimmy asked, looking over the dulled blue dots.
But Darcy didn't have an answer for that. In fact, she didn't have time to give him one before the laptop dinged, and the map began to move.
This was stranger than strange. Vision noted as he got closer towards the edge of town.
It seemed the closer he got to the edge of town, the less Wanda cared about the people.
The people were not moving about robotically anymore. They were simply still.
There was a blanket of silence covering the street as Vision walked past the countless people on the street.
No-one made even the faintest of sounds, not even when he spoke to them.
"Excuse me, ma'am? Are those your children? Are you waiting for something?" Vision asked, but when no-one responded, he forced himself to move on.
Vision made his way to the end of the street before he decided walking was fruitless.
He dropped his disguise before he took to the skies.
He could hear the sounds of children laughing, people wishing each happy Halloween's and other pleasantries before noticed a car stopped at a stop sign.
Vision flew towards the car and lightly landed before the stopped vehicle.
There, in the driver's seat, Vision found Agnes to be behind the wheel.
"Agnes?" He asked aloud. "What are you doing here?"
"Town Square Scare," Agnes said blankly. "Where is it?"
"Oh, well, the Town Square, I expect." Vision joked, causing Agnes to laugh emotionlessly.
"Took a wrong turn," Agnes admitted, still staring out the front window. "Got lost." She shrugged as her eyes welled with tears.
"In the town, you grew up in?" Vision wondered, staring at his neighbor in confusion.
Agnes didn't respond, causing Vision's worry to grow so that he reached a hand out to her temple.
When Vision broke the wall in her mind, Agnes jolted violently and let out a loud gasp.
"It's all right." Vision soothed.
"You!" Agnes gasped, staring at her neighbor in shock. "You're one of the Avengers. You're Vision. Are you here to help us?" She asked with wide eyes.
"I am Vision, and I do want to help." Vision nodded, gently placing his hand on hers. "But what's an Avenger?" He wondered, causing Agnes to gasp.
"What? Why don't you know?" She demanded, snatching her hand away. "Am I dead?" Agnes asked, pressing her hands to her chest.
"No. No." Vision promised. "Why would you think that?"
"Because you are."
"'Cause I'm what?"
"Dead," Agnes said, causing Vision to freeze. "Dead. Dead! Dead!" She yelled.
"Agnes, it is my intention to reach those outside of Westview and make sense of our situation." Vision explained, gesturing towards the town's end.
"How? No-one leaves." Agnes shook her head. "Wanda won't even let us think about it." She laughed. "All is lost," Agnes added as her laughter began to grow wilder.
"Agnes. Agnes, please calm down." Vision asked but was drowned out by the woman's loud cackling. "Agnes! Please."
Vision knew Agnes was too far gone to hear this conversation, so with a sigh, he pressed his hand to her temple once more.
Agnes snapped upright in her seat as her laughter died in her throat.
"I will fix this, Agnes. I promise."
"Okey-dokey, neighbor." Agnes chirped, smiling widely, as she did a U-turn. "Happy Halloweenie!" She cheered, driving away.
Leaving Vision to stare into the distance, just past Ellis Avenue.
"That's it. My way back into the Hex will be here in an hour. Just got to meet my guy over the ridge. Let's roll." Monica told the group.
"You can't do that," Darcy spoke up.
"Sure we can." Jimmy shrugged. "I'm a wiz at hot-wiring cars."
"No. You can't go back into the Hex." Darcy told Monica.
"Worst case scenario, Wanda removes my free will and puts me in ultra-low-rise jeans." Monica shrugged.
"Hayward has your blood work," Darcy announced. "You've gone through the boundary twice already, Monica. The energy inside has re-written your cells on a molecular level twice. It's changing you."
"Seen enough lab results to last me a lifetime." Monica shrugged. "I've seen cells metastasizing, cells in remission. I know what Wanda's feeling, and I won't stop until I help her."
"Okay."
"Okay."
"Okay."
"But I'm staying here," Darcy told the group.
"You can't stay here. It's not safe." Jimmy told her.
"Why would you want to stay here?" Clint asked.
"Darcy, what are you talkin' about?"
"I haven't made it through Hayward's last firewall. There's something big here, something that can help us. I know it." Darcy said.
"I'll stay," Clint announced. "Just in case you need me."
"Fine." Monica sighed. "I'll drop you the location. You meet us out there as soon as you can." She told the two before she and Jimmy left the tent.
Jimmy and Monica found an abandoned truck which they quickly stole before driving away from the SWORD base.
Leaving Darcy and Clint alone.
"Seems the whole town's out tonight, huh, Luna?" Y/N wondered as she and her daughter strolled through the Town Square.
"There's a lot of people." Luna nodded, staring at the townsfolk curiously.
"Everything okay, sweetheart?" Y/N asked, kneeling in front of the blonde girl. "Are you not feeling well?" She pushed, pressing her hand to Luna's forehead.
"No, I feel fine, Mom," Luna promised, pulling her mother's hand away.
"What's wrong then? You've been acting off all night." Y/N commented, rising to a stand and pulling Luna over to a hay bale to sit.
"I can see things, Mom," Luna admitted, playing with her thumbs.
"Things like what, sweetheart?"
"Emotions, I think," Luna told Y/N. "There are these colors all around everyone. I can see 'em change, Mom."
"That's okay, sweetheart. We can help you find out more about your powers."
"But, Mom, there's something wrong with everyone's colors," Luna said.
"What's wrong with their colors?
"They're all blue, all sad," Luna said, staring at the people who passed her. "And when they pass Mama, they're scared."
"I know, sweetheart." Y/N sighed, pulling her daughter into her side. "But me and your Dad are trying to fix this. We're gonna fix this." She promised the girl.
"Holy shmacaroni," Pietro commented, looking around the Town Square as Wanda laughed. "Wow!"
"Isn't it great?" Wanda asked with a grin.
"Damn it, if Westview, New Jersey isn't charming as hell." Pietro complimented, watching the people mill about.
"Now, I know that you think that I've gone full soccer mom,"
"You have." Pietro cut in.
"But it really is nice, right?" Wanda asked as the two sat down.
"Yeah." Pietro nodded before letting out a sigh. "I think Mom and Dad would have loved it."
"Yeah. I think Mom and Dad would have."
"Where were you hiding these kids up till now?" Pietro asked after a gaggle of children ran past them.
"What?" Wanda asked, snapping her head to face him.
"I assume they were sleeping peacefully in their beds." Pietro theorized. "No need to traumatize beyond the occasional holiday episode cameo, right?" He joked.
"No."
"You were always the empathetic twin," Pietro told her.
"I don't. I didn't."
"Don't get me wrong, you've handled the ethical considerations of this scenario as best you could." Pietro complimented. "Families and couples stay together, most personalities aren't far off from what's underneath, people got better jobs, better haircuts, for sure."
"You don't think it's wrong?" Wanda stuttered.
"What, are you kidding? I'm impressed." Pietro told her. "Seriously. It's a big leap from giving people nightmares and shooting red wiggly-woos out of your hands. How'd you even do all this?" Pietro asked, causing Wanda to fall into silence. "Hey, I'm not some stranger, and I'm not your husband or your wife. You can talk to me."
"I don't know how I did it," Wanda admitted with a sigh, looking down. "I, I only remember feeling scared. Empty." She sniffed. When Wanda finally looked up, she let out a gasp when she saw Pietro grey and full of holes.
Wanda squeezed her eyes shut tightly, and when she opened them, she out out a sigh. For Pietro was no longer grey and was hole-free.
"Are you okay?" Pietro wondered, staring at his sister in worry.
"I'm fine." Wanda smiled, waving him off.
"Sure you are."
"Hayward, you sneaky bastard," Darcy said as she continued to snoop through the director's files.
"You got that right." Clint scoffed, watching over the doctor's shoulder.
Darcy pulled up a new screen that showed Vision's blinking dot moving closer to the border.
"What's he doing?" Clint asked, staring at Vision's dot in confusion.
"I don't know, but we're going to find out," Darcy said, jumping up from her chair.
On the other side of the Hex, Vision had reached the edge of the town.
The closer he got to the town's border, the larger the foreboding feeling in his stomach grew.
But the closer he got, the clearer the energy field became.
Blocked from the outside world. Vision mused as he stood a nose length's away.
Vision pressed his hand onto the field, and it was immediately sucked into the energy.
Vision pushed his way through the energy field to see swarms of people, cars, and helicopters surrounding him.
But Vision could not spare them another thought as the more he tried to pull his body out of the energy field, the more pain he found himself to be in.
"He really does want out, doesn't he?" A man asked as Vision let out a loud yell.
SWORD watched as, before their eyes, Vision began to disintegrate.
"Oh no." Darcy gasped and began to rush forward with Clint right behind her. "Why aren't you helping him?" Darcy screamed, causing all the agents to turn and face the two. "He's coming apart!" She yelled when an agent grabbed her and pushed her away.
"Get your hands off her!" Clint exclaimed when he, too, was restrained.
Billy was alone when his head began to pound.
Billy was alone when he began to have images of his father in pain.
Billy was alone when he began to hear what was happening at the town's edge.
Billy could sense his brother speeding closer, and he held a hand out to stop him.
"Whoa, Billy!" Tommy cheered.
"Shh!" Billy hissed.
"Are you okay?" Tommy asked, watching his brother in concern.
Billy ignored his brother as the screaming in his head grew louder.
"Mama!"
Billy and Tommy rushed into the Town Square to find both mothers, their sister, and their uncle sitting on hay bales.
"Mama! Mom! Mama!"
"What? What is it, Billy?" Wanda asked as she jumped to her feet.
"I hear Dad in my head. He's in trouble." Billy panted.
"What? Where is he?" Y/N asked, rushing to her wife's side.
"Let me go!" Darcy snapped as she was handcuffed to a car. "What are you doing?" She yelled when she saw Clint be smacked across the face with the butt of a gun.
"Help!" Vision yelled, not caring that he was falling apart. "The people need help!" He exclaimed before he fell to the ground.
"I don't understand. What's happening to me?" Billy demanded.
"Where is he? Where's your Dad?" Wanda asked, staring at Billy with urgent eyes.
"Hey, don't sweat it, sis. It's not like your dead husband can die twice." Pietro joked.
"Excuse me?" Y/N asked, staring at Pietro with wide eyes. Before she could further question her brother-in-law, Wanda shot him with a blast of magic and sent him flying through the air. "Wanda!" Y/N exclaimed as the kids stared at their mother in shock.
"Billy, I need you to focus," Wanda demanded, ignoring her wife. Billy nodded at his mother and closed his eyes tightly.
"I can't tell. I see these soldiers." Billy said as the images flooded his mind. "They think he's dying!"
"Wanda, don't," Y/N said as Wanda's hands glowed red. But she couldn't say another word as time froze.
The last thing she saw was Wanda's eyes glowing red.
"Jimmy, do you see that? It's magic." Monica said as she and Jimmy drove away from Westview.
"It's moving!" Jimmy gasped. "Go, Monica! Go!" He exclaimed, causing the woman to press harder on the pedal.
"Go, go, go!" Hayward demanded, running away from the Hex. "Move, move, move!"
The agents began to scatter in a panic as the red energy drew closer to them.
"Are you serious right now?" Darcy growled as she was left alone, handcuffed to the car. "Clint, wake up!" Darcy exclaimed as the Hex swallowed everything around it. "Oh, fudge." Darcy sighed as she was hit.
The Hex swallowed the entirety of the SWORD base. Anything it touched changed to fit Wanda's script.
"Can anyone read me?" Hayward asked as he and three others sped away from Westview. "Can anyone hear my voice?" He demanded once more.
But no-one responded.
They were a part of Westview now.

enjoy!

Lily and Posy were ecstatic about the upcoming holiday and the fact that it would be at your house. With Oliver being just shy of three months old, you didn’t want to take him out again after the weekend away. You spent the week before the 4th cleaning the house and picking up food from the store.
On Saturday, Ashton and KayKay came over to pick Posy up for her karate lessons. She’s been on a kick watching Kung Fu Panda and would walk around the house ‘karate chopping’ the couch and kicking pillows while shouting ‘HIYAA!’ Ashton suggested taking her, there’s a studio next to his yoga class, and Posy was more than thrilled to be doing karate with her uncle. KayKay went along when she could and cheered Posy on.
You and Luke would alternate every Saturday to go watch her as well so one of you was still at home with Oliver. Sometimes Lily would go but she was always at Cory and Ella’s on the weekends.
“Go have fun and listen to your teacher, okay?” you told her kissing her cheek. You made sure her pigtails were tightened enough.
“‘Kay mama.”
“Is it alright if I take her for lunch afterwards?” Ashton asks, lifting her in his arms.
“Yeah that’d be great, thank you,” Luke says with Oliver in his arms. Ashton’s face lights up at his nephew.
“There’s the little man,” Ashton smiles, reaching forward to stroke his cheek. Oliver stretches his arms up, his little face twisting from the touch. “He’s really getting bigger.”
“Yeah, he eats like his daddy,” you chuckle and poke Luke’s dimpled cheek.
“All right, we should get going, huh little one?” Ashton asks Posy. “See you guys later.”
“Bye daddy!” Posy waves over Ashton’s shoulder.
“Bye Pose!” he waves with a smile and then they’re out the door. He sighs. “Big cleanup day today, lovie.”
“I know. I’ll feed Olly and change him, then we’ll be out to help in the backyard,” you say, taking your son from Luke’s arms. “Hi sweet boy, did you sleep well?”
It was pretty warm out so you made sure Oliver had on a short sleeved onesie. You covered him in a blanket with a hat on and turned the small fan clipped to his carrier as you helped Luke with the pool. You vacuumed while he got  the leaves out from the top. You checked on Oliver multiple times but he seemed pretty content in his carrier.
“I’ll get the tiki torches and line them around the pool,” Luke huffs, tying his hair in a bun. He tugged off his white tank top that had a sweat mark on the chest and tossed it to the grass.
Your eyebrows raise in appreciation as he turns into the shed, his butt looks really nice in his black athletic shorts. Oliver makes some noise so you go to him immediately to see if he’s all right. When you reach in to check his temperature, his little hand grasps onto your finger tightly.
“I’m right here, baby. You’re doing so good out here, yes you are,” you coo at him and kiss his forehead. You sit down in one of the patio chairs when Luke emerges with about a dozen tiki torches.
Watching him twist the torches into the ground, his back muscles flexing and glistening with sweat in the sun and his arms tightening leaves you hot and bothered. You’re transfixed by the power he wields in each one he places around the perimeter of the pool, your eyes moving over the slope of his back and you’re left with a wanting ache for him.
“Are you all right over there?” he asks, strutting his way to you with his tank top in his hand. He just put in the last tiki torch and you shook your head from being frazzled.
“Yeah, you just...you look so sexy right now, that’s all,” you shrug then look down at Olly who’s fast asleep.
“I do?” he snorts resting his tank top around his neck, he uses it like a towel to wipe at his forehead.
“Mhm,” you sigh, eyeing him up without remorse.
His eyebrows raise and he glances at Oliver then back at you. “Care to show me how sexy I am?”
You lay Oliver in his crib so he can continue his midmorning nap and Luke is quick to drag you into your bedroom, his lips on yours. It’s been well over six weeks since your C-Section and you were given the okay to have sex again.
“What time is it?” Luke mumbles, kissing your neck and pushing you to the bed.
“You have somewhere else to be?” you laugh then sigh when he starts to suck in your sweet spot.
“I’m exactly where I need to be,” he groans when you dip your hand in his shorts and start to stroke him. “Ash and Po will be coming back soon.”
“That’s right,” you sigh and plop on the bed. You gaze up at him, his blond hair slipping out from his bun and he’s breathing heavily. You wiggle your fingers between his own and pull him down on top of you. “We’ll have to be quick then.”
He smiles before kissing you, his hand tugs your shorts down and he pulls himself out of his shorts. Your kisses are frantic and just as he pulls your underwear to the side, Oliver lets out a loud wail and Petunia barks at the front door.
You groan at the horrible timing and Luke sighs on top of you.
“We weren’t fast enough,” you sigh, letting him situate yourself and shoves himself back in his pants.
“We’ll have some alone time soon, lovie,” he promises with a smile. He takes your hands pulling you in a sitting position.
“Mama! Daddy!” Posy calls.
You fix your hair and make sure your pants are buttoned and zipped before exiting the room to get back to your responsibilities.
***
It’s the morning of the 4th and you’ve just changed Oliver and put his blue overalls on with a red shirt underneath. Posy is wearing a blue dress with red sandals and you and Luke are matching in a red dress and a red tank top for him. Before your party, you’re all going to the parade in town where Cory and Ella will meet you with Lily and Violetta.
“How hot is it outside?” you ask Luke, settling Oliver in his car seat. Posy is in his arms wearing white sunglasses.
“Not too bad right now. I’ve got extra sunscreen in the bag and water.”
“All right, let’s go!”
Cory, Ella, Violetta, and Lily are already sitting down along the curb in their chairs. Lily springs up in her own blue and white dress to give you a big hug. Her hair is pulled back in a red headband.
“Hi honey!” You hug her the best you can with Oliver in your arms, Luke and Posy are behind you with the stroller. “You did such a good job saving our seats for us!”
“Look at my necklaces!” Lily shows you the red, white, and blue beads around her neck.
“Wow, you have so many! Hi guys,” you smile to Cory and Ella. Cory has Violetta in her arms and she’s in a white dress with a red bow on her head.
“Po, I have some necklaces for you!” Lily runs to her sister and takes off two of her necklaces. “Aren’t they pretty?”
“Pwetty!” Posy gasps, touching the beads lightly with her fingers.
You sit in the chair next to Ella smiling at Violetta, she’s chewing on her teething beads. Luke immediately requests a photo of all of you with Lily and Posy standing in front, their smiles wide and beautiful.
“You need a family photo,” Cory says and takes Luke’s phone.
You stand next to Luke pointing Oliver to the camera and Posy wants to be in Luke’s arms. Lily stands in front and you put your hand on her shoulder, all of you smiling.
“Beautiful,” Cory smiles.
The parade starts and the girls are excited watching the floats and bands go by. They’re especially excited when candy is tossed to them. Oliver does a decent job being content with the loud noise until the firetrucks and ambulances come by.
Lily scrambles into Luke’s lap and he puts on her sound cancelling headphones she’s used since she was a toddler at his shows. Her small hands still hold onto the ear pieces and she watches the trucks drive by. Posy on the other hand is watching in awe and waving to the people inside.
“Lily and I made cupcakes yesterday that we’re going to bring over,” Ella tells you.
“Oh, that’s great. When will you be coming by?”
“After Vi’s nap, she’s been having a hard time sleeping lately. How’s our little man doing? I love his overalls, he looks like a cute old man.”
“I know right?” you laugh stroking over his nose. “He’s doing good, eating a lot and he’s at the weight he should be.”
“Mama look at all my candy!” Posy runs up to you with her candy tucked in her dress like a sack.
“Wow! It’s just like halloween!” you smile.
When the parade is over, Posy is starting to get fussy too because you won’t let her eat her candy because she hasn’t had lunch yet.
“We’ll see you guys later,” Cory laughs watching you all leave. Posy is wriggling in Luke’s arms nearing meltdown mode.
Ever since her birthday she’s been having more meltdowns and you couldn’t agree more that it’s the terrible three’s and not the two’s. She’s learning how to test her limits with you and Luke and when it doesn’t go her way, she screams and does all the dramatics.
Posy is still whining in the car and Oliver starts to whine now too because he’s hungry. Lily is holding her ears because Oliver’s cries increase.
“We’re almost home, sweets,” Luke says and turns into the subdivision.
You’re trying to console Oliver by letting him suck on your knuckle but he just spits it out. You hate hearing your kids be upset. Luke parks in the driveway and you both scramble to get the kids out and your belongings. Luke takes Oliver and you carry a wiggling Posy inside the house.
“I’ll feed him and then we’ll have a quick lunch I made for them this morning,” Luke says, opening the fridge and taking out Oliver’s bottle.
Lily runs to her room to get away from the noise and you set Posy down on the floor. She literally collapses onto the floor, her face red and wet with her tears. You settle next to her letting her get her anger out. In a moment, she’s sniffling and coughs wiping at her cheeks.
“Are you finished?” you ask gently and she nods. “C’mere by mama.”
You help her stand up and wipe at her wet face, brushing her hair away from her forehead.
“Deep breath,” you say inhaling and she follows, then you let it out and Posy does as well. You repeat that three more times until her breathing is back to normal. “After lunch you can have one piece of candy, okay? We can’t eat candy for lunch. How about you go pick one out and I’ll get lunch started.”
“Okay mama.”
You’re gathering the lunches Luke prepared, ham and cheese sandwiches with grapes and applesauce. Lily comes running out and asks if she can help you, she’s always such a big help to you. Posy is playing with her toys in the living room when Luke comes back downstairs.
“Daddy look!” Posy jumps up from her spot holding up the red lollipop she chose to eat after lunch. “I picked this for after lunch!”
“You did! I think that’s a very good choice, do you want me to hold onto it until you’re done?”
“Yeah!” she hands him the lollipop and he pockets it, giving you a wink.
Posy climbs into her chair just as you set her plate of food down. Lily takes her place and the girls start eating.
“Is he down?” you ask Luke moving to pick up the toys Posy was playing with.
“Yup, hopefully he’ll sleep until people start coming.”
***
Your friends arrive right on time and are more than helpful with setting the food up outside and Michael has set up his music stuff in the corner. Lily and Posy are occupied by Calum and Ashton. Posy is showing off all her candy and practicing her karate moves with Ashton while Lily is telling Calum all about the parade.
“You had your headphones on right?” Calum asks and she nods.
“Yeah, they are too loud.”
“Do you have them for the fireworks?”
“In my room!”
Luke and Cory are manning the grill again, you decided on having chicken for dinner. Halfway through the party you go get Oliver and Michael comes over to say hi. You ask him how he and Crystal are doing with trying for a baby and he said they’re taking a break right now. They don’t want to stress about it too much.
When it becomes dusk, Luke lights the tiki torches and the yard is in a fantastical glow. Posy keeps asking when the fireworks will be and you tell her it will be when it’s much darker outside.
“Hey mama,” Luke murmurs in your ear, his hands wrap around your stomach. Ashton and Michael brought out the sparklers and were helping Lily and Posy with them. He kisses your cheek.
“Hey,” you smile leaning into him.
“Want to try and finish what we started yesterday?” his lips move to your shoulder and his kiss makes the strap fall down.
“Right now?”
“I meant later when the kids are asleep but if you want to try when the fireworks are going off...they’d mask how loud you are,” he teases.
“You don’t want to watch the fireworks?”
“You’re the only firework I need,” he squeezes you.
“If Lily and Posy are okay during the show, we can try and sneak away,” you promise and turn around in his arms. His nose and cheeks are a little red and you touch his face lightly. “You got sunburned today.”
“So did you,” he glances at your cleavage where you see a very noticeable line. “I’ll have to rub aloe on you later.”
“Mm, that sounds nice,” you mumble and lean up on your toes to give him a kiss, your fingers tangled in his hair. He tastes like perspiration, a shot of tequila and Luke, your favorite taste. You get lost in his kiss and his arms wrapped around you. “Wanna slip away now?” you whisper, pulling away before you get too carried away.
“I hope we aren’t too late,” a familiar voice says behind Luke.
You both look at each other before turning around to see his parents and brothers standing there. Your mouth opens in a gasp and then Lily and Posy are running to Liz shouting ‘nana!’
“Oh hello my loves!” Liz exclaims hugging them both.
“Mum? What are you doing here?” Luke asks tugging you along.
You’re all giving hugs and kisses and there’s questions about Oliver and why they didn’t tell you they’d be coming.
“Who cares, what a great surprise!” You laugh hugging Liz again. “I’m so glad you’re here, how long are you staying? Where are you staying?”
“We rented a house not too far from here and we’re staying for the whole Summer.”
“The whole Summer?!” Luke’s eyes widen and he hugs his parents again.
Lily and Posy try to get their attention but Jack quickly intercedes and asks them to show him how the sparklers work. The rest of the group come and say high and you gather Oliver in your arms so Liz can get a look at him.
“This is Oliver,” you smile and there’s tears in her eyes.
“Can I?” she asks, holding her arms out.
“Of course!” you hand him over.
“He’s just darling, and he’s so strong! You just couldn’t wait to come into the world, huh handsome boy?” Liz coos rocking him. “He looks just like Luke.”
“I think so, too,” you smile, looping your arm around Luke’s waist. There’s a firework that goes off behind you, a sign from the neighbors that their show will be starting in about ten minutes. Lily clutches to your legs, covering her ears. “It’s okay, honey, we’ll go get your headphones.”
“Already got them,” Calum grins coming out from the house with the headphones in his hands. “Do you want to watch them with me, Lils?”
“Mama can I?” she asks looking up at you.
“Of course you can, go get your blanket to lay in the grass,” you tell her.
“Help me pick a blanket, Cal!” She takes his hand and he follows her inside.
You’re more than happy for Liz to hold onto Oliver while the fireworks go off, Posy is close to her sitting in Ashton’s lap. She’s chattering about her karate class and what happened at Disney World and that nana should come with next time.
“I think that’s a great idea, bug,” Luke pinches at her cheek when he returns with a beer. He points at you. “Stand up.”
“What?”
“Up, lovie,” he smiles, pulling you up himself so he can sit in your chair. You place your hands on your hips. “Okay, sit down.” he pats his thigh and you sit down on his lap happily. “This is your seat for every firework show.”
You press your lips to his balmy forehead, it smells like sunscreen and the hot summer day that was today.
“Guess we can’t sneak away now with your family here,” you mumble.
“It’s okay. If they’re here the whole summer, I’m sure we can go away for a night just the two of us,” he pinches your hip.
“Maybe we could do a whole weekend?” you raise your eyebrows.
“You’ll be okay leaving Olly for a weekend?”
“Apart from me and you, I trust your mom. She had three kids of her own, you know.”
“Oh, I’m aware,” he laughs and gives you a kiss. “It’s a date, we’ll set something up.”
“Your birthday’s coming up,” you trace your finger along his bearded jaw.
“Mm, that’s the best birthday present I could ask for,” he smiles.
The fireworks start to go off and you look in the grass where Calum and Lily are, she’s sitting in his lap gazing up at the sky. He points to the ones way up and her mouth opens at the big ones. Posy is in Ashton’s lap and her commentary makes everyone laugh.
“That’s my favorite! I love that one! Look Unca Ash!”
“I see! These are all my favorites, too,” he comments back.
Then you look over at Oliver in Liz’s lap, she’s kissing his head and rubbing his back talking softly to him. You turn to Luke last who is already looking at you, his face lit up from the colors bursting in the sky.
“I’m so glad I married you,” you tell him, pecking his lips gently.
“I’m glad you married me, too,” he grins.
You relax against him and enjoy the rest of the display. Life is good and full of love.

- “Real question, is there anything in the world that you like more than Halloween?”- (Y/N) asked her boyfriend. She was in the bathroom, getting ready for trick-or-treating, and he was standing in front of the mirror in his old room in his parent's house, putting on his suit.
He gave his answer zero thinking because he really loved Halloween.
- “Compared to any other holiday, nop.”
- “And compared to any other thing in the world?”- Gubler stayed quiet and sighed. He took a look at himself in the mirror and nodded, pleased.
- “Considering most of my favorite things are Halloween related, I’d say no.”
- “That’s what I thought. Ok, I’m ready. What do you think?”
Gubler turned around and looked at his girlfriend standing by the bathroom door.
- “Wow.”
- “Too much?”- (Y/N) bit her lips, nervous, as his boyfriend walked over and took a good look at her.
- “Wow,”- he repeated
- “Really, honey… what do you think?”
- “I think you look so good; you should wear this every day.”
Matthew held her chin and placed a slow and sweet kiss on her lips. (Y/N) blushed and looked at their costumes. He was dressed as Beetlejuice, and she was Lydia in her red wedding gown.
She wouldn’t be as nervous as she was under normal conditions, but that was a special Halloween. It was their first Halloween together as a couple, and they were going to spend it with Matthew’s family in Las Vegas. The whole family. And she had just met them two hours ago. And not only that, but they were also going to take his nephews trick-or-treating.
No pressure.
- “So, ready?”- Matthew smiled and fixed his hair for the hundredth time- “How do I look?”
- “Is it wrong to say even with all that makeup and crazy hair, you are the hottest guy I have ever seen?”- (Y/N) stood in front of her boyfriend and smiled.
- “It’s wrong, very wrong… I might have to teach you a lesson later”- Gubler placed his hands in her waist and pulled her closer- “You are too hot in this dress too. That deserves a punishment.”
- “I’m so sorry, Matthew Gray”- she chuckled and shivered at the sensation of his lips on her neck, tracing kisses from her jaw to her collar bone.
- “You are sorry you are so hot?”
- “No, I’m sorry I can’t fuck with you in your parent’s house.”
(Y/N) thought her boyfriend would stop what he was doing, but it seemed it only encouraged him to continue. His hands moved carefully from her hips to her cheeks, passing painfully slowly upon her breast.
- “I think you can, and you will”- his voice was so low and velvety as he whispered those words, (Y/N) felt her knees weakening.
- “Really?”- even her voice was a little shaky.
- Really.”
- “Why are you so sure?”- she sighed and stared at him. His eyes were darker and filled with lust. But, it all ended in a second.
- “Uncle Matthew!!! Let’s go!!”- his nephews ran into the room in their cute disguises, ready to go.
- “Kids! Hey! you look amazing!! I mean, you look so creepy!! Let’s terrorize the neighborhood!”
(Y/N) smiled and sighed, trying to calm herself down after feeling her boyfriend kissing her skin, teasing her. How could he step from being a teaser boyfriend to a cute uncle in a blink?
- “This ain’t over, by the way.”- he warned her as they walked downstairs and held her hand.
- “That’s what I thought.”
She smiled and felt her cheeks blushing again. Yes, she had been dating that man for eight months, and he could still make her blush. It happened awfully often, according to her, and it was embarrassing. But Matthew loved it. He thought it was adorable how she flushed each time he teased her. It made her look so innocent and naive.
It also made his pants get tighter, but (Y/N) still had no idea about that.
.
Walking around the neighborhood, holding Matthew’s hand while walking his sister’s kids asking candied was like a dream. She knew they weren’t there yet, but something about being like that made her feel so good and calm, she couldn’t stop smiling.
- “Trick or treat!!”- Gubler and his nephews said along, like a hyperventilated Halloween choir.
- “Well, hello!”- an old woman wearing a witch hat opened the door and smiled- “What a scary scarecrow! And a creepy…”- she furrowed her brows, staring at the child.
- “I’m sorry dear, who are you supposed to be?”
- “I’m Darth Vader!”- the kid announced proudly from underneath his black helmet.
- “Oh! Of course!”- the old lady smiled at the boys and gave them candies- “Your kids are adorable.”
- “Thank you.”- Matthew answered without hesitation and gave the woman a big smile. (Y/N) bit her lips and giggled.
- “Why did you tell her your nephews were our kids?”
- “I don’t know. I guess I didn’t bother. It wasn’t a big deal”- she nodded and continued walking.
- “Why? was it wrong?”- Matthew looked at her, and she started shaking her head immediately- “Because I just thought it was cute, and...”·
- “No, no, it wasn't wrong, it was...”- (Y/N) felt her cheeks turning pink as she looked around, avoiding his eyes- “You are right, it was very cute”.
The couple walked in silence for a moment. Matthew tried not to overthink what had just happened. He already knew he wanted (Y/N) to be the mother of his kids, but it was too soon to tell her that. After all, they had been together for only eight months.
.
- “Hey, kids! don’t go too far!”- Gubler yelled as his nephews ran to the next door, ignoring his words.
- “Have you ever lost one of them”- (Y/N) asked him, taking a look around. There were a lot of kids, and it was pretty easy to lose one.
- “Once in the mall. I freaked out. I got the guard to call him on the speakers.”
- “And what happened?”
- “I still can’t find him, so I replaced him with a clone. I still can’t believe my sister hasn’t noticed.”- Gubler answered, and (Y/N) burst out laughing.
- “Just don’t tell her yet. I’m still waiting for the right moment to break the news.”
- “Ok, ok. Your secret is safe with me”- (Y/N) held his hand tight and smiled- “Now, let’s get some candies.”
.
After an hour of trick-or-treating, the kids were fueled with sugar, and there was no way the couple could keep them in place. They were running and jumping and yelling all over the street, playing with some other kids from the neighborhood.
- “Ok, I think it’s time to cut the candies, don’t you think?”- (Y/N) asked her boyfriend as he ate another snicker bar
- “Sorry, what?”
- “Enough sugar for today.”- she said and grabbed the bag from his hands.
- “Oh, come on! just a little more.”
- “No, besides, you have to save some for tonight’s horror movies marathon.”
- “Right! But that’s why the kids are getting us more sweets. That’s their job.”- he moved closer and tried to take the bag from her hands, though all he was really doing was to hold her close and tickle her
- “I don’t think they will share.”- she answered, giggling
- “I’m their favorite uncle. Of course, they’ll share.”
- “Do you wanna bet?”- Matthew looked into her eyes and nodded.
- “Ok, let’s ask them.”
Matthew looked around, searching for them in the crowd.
- “I’ve got one!”- (Y/N) said and held a tiny, cute and cleared tired scarecrow, who wrapped his arms around her neck and sighed, almost ready to nap.
- “Ok, now we need our Darth Vader, and we will ready to go.”
The couple kept on searching, but nothing. No Darth Vader around.
- “Shit!”- Gubler whispered and started calling his nephew’s name. But nothing. (Y/N) wide opened her eyes, feeling her stomach tightening. Losing a kid was the worst way to be introduced to her boyfriend’s family. Of course, it was going to happen to her.
- “I’m gonna go look for him,”- Matthew said, and she nodded- “You should stay here in case he comes back.”
Matthew Gray had never lost one of his nephews. He was joking earlier. And because it had never happened, he was freaking out. What if they never found him? what if he had been kidnapped? He worked on a tv show with the sickest stories about serial killers. He had seen and read enough of that to think the worst.
He walked around, yelling his nephew’s name for about a block until he finally found him and hugged him immediately.
- “Shit! I was so worried. Never do this again, please.”
- “I want my mommy.”- the kid said from inside the helmet, and Gubler nodded.
- “Let’s get your mommy.”
- “I got him!!”- Matthew yelled proudly, walking to (Y/N) holding his nephew in his arms. (Y/N) frowned and looked at him, confused.
- “Who’s that?”
- “What are you talking about?”- Matthew asked- “I know you just met them today, but…”
- “Gubler, I’ve got the kids here.”
And she did. They were both sitting on the sidewalk, eating candies.
- “If they are here… who’s this?”- Matthew asked and took out the helmet of the kid he was holding.
- “I want my mommy”- the boy said and pouted.
- “Shit!!”- Matthew was in shock. He had taken someone’s kid by accident- “Let’s… let’s go look for your mommy, ok?”- he boy nodded, and (Y/N) bit her lips, trying not to laugh.
- “Where did you find him?”- she held Gubler’s little nephew’s hands as Matthew kept the kid in his arms, looking for his mother.
- “Over there… do you see your mommy?”- he asked the boy, who was still pouting and about to start crying.
- “Do you know where you live?”- (Y/N) asked him, and he shook his head- “Do you see any of your friends?”- but nothing.
- “What’s your name, baby?”- Matthew tried to soothe him and gave him a candy bar
- “Andy”
- “Ok, Andy. This is what we are going to do, we are going to call out for your mom, ok?”- (Y/N) looked at her boyfriend and felt her heart was going to explode inside his chest. That man was made to be a father.
- “Are you going to help me look for her?”- Gubler asked, and the little one nodded- “Ok, guys, are you going to help us find Andy’s mom?”- he asked his nephews.
- “Yeah!!!”
- “Ok, so help me out here”- Matthew cleared his throat and started shouting out- “Andy’s mom!! we are looking for Andy’s mom”- (Y/N) smiled and looked around, yelling as well, along with the boys, until a woman appeared running.
- “There you are!!”
- “Mommy!!”- Andy hugged her and held her tight immediately.
- “Thank you for finding him”- Matthew smiled and nodded
- “Not a problem”- (Y/N) looked at him chuckling, and he wrapped an arm around her waist, pinching her waist- “He was very scared”
- “Say thank you to the nice man, Andy”- it was getting harder for (Y/N) not to laugh, but she had to. Besides, Matthew pinched her waist again, nearly making her jump.
The boy thanked and waved, and soon he and his mother were gone. Gubler looked at his girlfriend and smiled, not saying a word. Then, he kneeled and looked at his nephews.
- “Are you ready to go home and watch a scary movie with us?”- the two of them nodded.
- “Can we watch the one with the witches that eat children’s souls?- one of them asked, and Matthew smiled immediately.
- “Hocus Pocus! of course! It’s my favorite! What do you say (Y/N)?”- he looked at her, and she nodded, smiling
- “It’s my favorite too! It has a cat! I love cats!
.
The boys walked a few meters ahead of them, and the couple held hands, not taking their eyes from them for even a second.
- “You are full of it, you know?”- (Y/N) whispered and giggled- “He was very scared”- she said, impersonating Matthew’s voice. And he laughed immediately.
- “You kidnapped a kid and then innocently pretended you had found him!”
- “In my defense, the kid was already lost when I kidnapped him!”- Matthew argued, laughing- “And I was worried he couldn’t find his mother.”
- “Of course”- (Y/N) laughed and looked at him- “Aren’t you nice?”
- “I am nice! I am a nice man”- she nodded and looked ahead. She couldn’t argue with that.
- “So you are gonna protect me from all the monsters that come out on Halloween?”- (Y/N) asked, and Matthew chuckled.
- “I don’t know… maybe”
- “Maybe?! really? are you going to leave me alone to die?”- she pretended to be mad but failed, ‘cos she couldn’t stop smiling. That would always happen when she was with her boyfriend. She was too happy and couldn’t stop smiling.
- “Yeah, maybe, because I could actually turn into a monster tonight and try to eat you.”
He put a hand in the small of her back, making her shiver, even when it was such a little touch.
- “Are you scared?”- he whispered in a lower voice.
- “No”- she answered and smiled at him- “Because we will be in a house full of people. If you turn into a zombie, I will scream until someone comes to rescue me”- (Y/N) turned and stuck out her tongue to him.
- “What if I kiss you so much, you wouldn't be able to scream? “- she bit her lips and blushed immediately.
- “You know I can’t hold myself. I always scream.”
- “I know, I love that”
- “And that’s why we won’t fuck in your parent’s house, Gubler.”
- “Oh, come on!! I will be quiet, I swear!!”- he begged, laughing
- “No! it’s weird!!”
- “It’s not weird!! It’s dirty, and you are dirty”- (Y/N) kept blushing and tried her best not to look at her boyfriend in the eyes.
- “You can’t deny it, Bunny. I’ve seen the things that you do.”
- “But I won’t do any of those things in your parent’s house!”- Gubler sighed and stayed in silence for a while.
- “And in my parent’s garage?”- (Y/N) laughed at her boyfriend’s proposal. He was acting like a horny teenager trying to convince his prom date to have sex.
- “It’s not my room, and technically it’s not my parent’s house.”
- “Hold it until we are back in L.A, Gubler.”
- “But I don’t want to”- he pouted
- “I’ll make it up for you, I promise.”
- “How?”- he stopped walking, holding her hand tight, and forced her to stop too- “This is important.”
- “Remember that thing we saw the other day in that movie?”
- “The thing you said you have never done?”- she nodded, and Matthew’s eyes turned darker in lust in a second- “Really? Can we do it?”
- “Only if you manage to be a good boy until we are not in your parent’s house, ok?”- Gubler nodded frenetically, and (Y/N) smiled, pleased
- “Good, now let’s go. I don’t wanna lose another kid again.”

Part 6: ...and 1 time I did the opposite
I will warn you, this one is bad. If you want to save yourself some pain, don’t read below the cut.
Previous parts: 1 2 3 4 5
The Potters had been cooped up for over a year when they were finally given a break. It was Halloween, the anniversary of their first date, and Sirius and Remus offered to babysit Harry for one night so they could have some alone time. Dumbledore approved the idea and they couldn’t be more pleased. They loved their baby, but they needed a break.
“Don’t let him eat too many sweets,” Lily said, kissing Remus’s cheek.
“Lily,” he said calmly. “You’ve gone over the rules and routine about a hundred times and it’s pinned to the refrigerator. Go, have fun, stop worrying.”
She looked over at Harry, giggling from Sirius’s arms and sighed.
“I hate it when you’re right,” she said, joining James at the car. “I’ll see you three later.”
Remus waved and closed the door before turning back to his boyfriend, who was tickling his godson’s stomach and muttering nonsense at the giggling toddler. He would make a good dad, one day. Remus moved over to the pair and kissed Sirius’s forehead. Sirius handed the toddler over and turned to the kitchen.
“I’ll make us some dinner, you handle the baby,” he called as he walked away.
A few hours later, Remus finished drying the dishes and walked back to the living room where Sirius was with Harry. He was telling his godson about their first Halloween at Hogwarts, casting small pumpkins and bats out of sparks to illustrate the finer points of the story. Harry giggled and tugged at his hair, before swiping at the sparks and causing them to dissolve.
“Stop lurking, Moony,” Sirius said. “Come sit with us.”
He smirked before sitting with the two, joining in on the story telling until a clock somewhere in the house chimed eight times and both men gasped.
“It’s past your bedtime, Haz,” Sirius said, tickling his godson again. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“No!” Harry yelled, barely getting the word out through his giggles.
“Yes,” Sirius said. “Uncle Moony’s gonna take you and get you all snuggled up, okay?”
“Story?” Harry asked, now looking over at Remus earnestly.
“Of course,” Remus answered, dropping his wand on the coffee table.
He took the boy into his arms and started up the stairs. Halfway up, he heard Sirius’s footsteps clunking quickly into the entryway and his blood ran cold.
“Remus! Take Harry and run!” he yelled. “He’s here!”
He heard the front door opening as he entered Harry’s room and barricaded the door. His wand was downstairs on the coffee table. Dumbledore had the invisibility cloak and Sirius had the mirror. He was trapped.
He heard a muffled voice and a flash of green light refracted under the door. There was a loud thud.
“Sirius,” he whispered, falling to his knees. “No.”
He heard footsteps on the stairs, to quiet to come from Sirius’s heavy boots and moved to brace himself against the crib.
“Mooey?” Harry asked, too quietly.
“I’m here, Harry,” he said, barely holding back his tears. “It will be okay.”
The door was blasted off its hinges and Voldemort stepped into the room. Harry started crying. Remus didn’t turn to comfort him – he had to protect him first.
“Please, don’t,” Remus choked out.
Voldemort sighed.
“Black is dead,” he said mildly. “I could use a spare werewolf, Lupin. Step aside and you will be welcomed into my army.”
“I’d rather die,” he spat.
“As you wish.”
A flash of green light illuminated the room. Remus Lupin fell to the ground. Harry continued to cry as Voldemort turned his wand on the boy.
“Avada kedavra!”
The curse rebounded and the room exploded, leaving a crying toddler in the wreckage of his home, alone.
***
Lily was laughing as James drove home. It was the first time she had felt so calm in months. Her laughter died abruptly as they pulled up to their street and she saw flames. She grabbed James’s thigh and he sped up.
Their house was in flames, a hole in the left side where Harry’s room looked into the street. James was out of the car in a second, running to open the front door and falling to his knees as soon as he opened it. Lily was right behind him.
“Pads,” he choked out, sobbing.
Sirius was in the entrance hall, dead. His eyes were wide open, and his wand was nowhere around. Lily thought back to him at Hogwarts, laughing loudly with his arms around James’s shoulders, at their wedding, dancing with Remus, on the battlefield, eyes fierce and wand drawn. It was strange to see him so still.
A baby’s cry drew her attention. She squeezed James’s shoulder before turning to run up the stairs, shaking as she stepped over Sirius’s body.
She found Harry in his cot, the sole survivor in the house. Remus’s body was in front of his crib from where he had clearly tried to protect her son. She picked up the toddler and rocked him gently, willing herself not to collapse next to Remus and sob until she couldn’t breathe.
Remus, who had helped her with Care of Magical Creatures when she was struggling, missing a Hogsmeade weekend with the marauders, who had walked her down the aisle at her wedding, the first person she told she was pregnant, was dead.
She walked back downstairs to find James standing at the door, clutching the frame for support. He turned when he saw her and rushed to take Harry from her, wiping the blood off of his son’s forehead to reveal a curse scar.
“If I ever see Pettigrew again,” he muttered. “I’ll kill him.”
The funeral was a painful affair. Neither Sirius nor Remus had any family beside the Potters. The whole Order attended and praised them as heroes, but it didn’t dull the ache in James’s chest. Sirius, his brother, was killed. Remus, the love of Sirius’s life, had had to listen to his body crumple to the floor before he succumbed to the same fate. It was all Peter’s fault. They had trusted Peter with their lives, with Harry’s life, and he had betrayed them, for what? Power? He couldn’t make sense of it.
He tried to comfort himself that Lily was alive, that Harry was safe, but he couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened if they had been home. He had lost almost everything and gotten so close to losing it all. It was unbearable.
Lily was quiet as they walked home. The house they were renting was empty. They had left Harry with Frank’s mother for the funeral and would pick him up later. For now, they needed a moment alone.
He knew something was wrong when he opened the door, year of war had given him instincts for that sort of thing. He didn’t have time to react before he and Lily were roughly tied up and brought to their knees, their wands taken.
Before them stood Bellatrix Lestrange, flanked by her husband and his brother. Behind them, a young boy stood quietly, thrumming with excitement. Bellatrix pointed her wand at James, one of the brothers pointed his at Lily. White hot pain rolled through James’s body, and he heard Lily cried out next to him. It stopped suddenly.
“The pain stops when you tell us where the Dark Lord is,” Bellatrix said.
Four wands now pointed at the Potters. No one would look for them for hours. They had no way out.
“We don’t know,” Lily panted out.
The pain started again.
James thought of Lily, laughing at Harry smashing the vase Petunia had given to them. He thought of Harry, mesmerised by his father’s animagus form. He thought about Sirius and Remus and his parents and everyone he had ever loved before he blacked out.
***
Petunia Dursley did not like the wizarding hospital – St Muggo’s or whatever it was called. It smelled like a normal hospital, but off – something unidentifiable in the air. Her nephew clutched on to her shirt, especially quiet for a three-year-old. She didn’t like bringing him here, but the letter from Dumbledore had emphasised that she must, and she was rather afraid of the wizard. She couldn’t understand why the Potters were here in the first place, and why they didn’t ever seem to get better; no one had ever explained it to her, and she didn’t bother to ask. She had enough on her plate between Dudley and her nephew.
Lily Potter didn’t recognise them when they walked into the room. Her husband – Jack? – never even acknowledged them, staring out of the window and humming some inane tune. Both of them looked terrible, their skin sunken and grey, their hair dull with premature grey hairs. Both had lost the light in their eyes that Petunia had seen years ago.
Harry babbled at his mother while Petunia read a magazine. Her sister didn’t say a word and didn’t seem to hear her son either. Today, Lily’s husband seemed to be paying attention, his eyes flickering between Harry and Lily with what might be mistaken for interest if he weren’t completely insane
After half and hour she stood up to leave. She stalked into the corridor with Harry holding her hand. He was big enough to walk now, so she ensured he did whenever possible. A sound from behind her made her turn around.
Lily stood in the hallway and reached out to her son. Harry walked wearily over to her. She took his hand and placed and candy wrapper in his palm, squeezing his hand around it, before kissing his head and wondering back into her room, humming.
It was something, Petunia thought with a strange feeling of relief, something that looked like recovery.

For your spooky requests, how about Bucky dating witch!reader, you could have them do whatever. Or Bucky and reader dressing their kids up for Halloween? I think that’d be adorable! Much love 😘🥰💕
ooh yes yes yes oh my goodness i love this! i decided to make the best of both worlds and have a (kind)witch!reader and bucky dressing their kids up for halloween. okay so for this she isn’t so much of a witch, but she has the same powers as wanda and a similar backstory. also after rereading this i realize that this could be a part two that takes place five years from “keeping me warm”, so if you want you can read it like that. i went a little itty bit far with this but i felt the mood for fluffiness so i hope you enjoy<3
-
“Mama, mama, can you help me zip up the back of my dress?” You turned, a three month-old baby on your hip, holding a pair of scissors between your teeth as you looked at your oldest daughter who was impatiently tapping her foot on the ground. The back of her space-princess dress was half-zipped up, both arms reaching behind her head though she couldn’t reach the zipper.
“Yeah, baby, let mama do it.” With one hand you expertly zipped up the back and smoothed down her hair which was in it’s usual Rebecca Barnes mess. Curly locks of chestnut hair fell short above the five year-old’s shoulders, topped with a headband with small planets decorating it. “You’ll be the prettiest space-princess all of New York has ever seen.”
“Not all of New York, mama, the whole wide galaxy!” Nico chimed in. He’d always admired his older sister, despite only being a year younger, and had decided to match with his sister and became one of Rebecca’s royal Martian subjects for the special night.
Halloween was never a stressful holiday before this one, with all of your kids being too young to go out trick-or-treating. You were scared of letting them go out, even if they were with their dad, and you wanted nothing more than to coddle them all in blankets know they were safely tucked in the house with you. However, it was Rebecca’s first year of school, and with relentless begging and pleading you had backed down and allowed them to go.
The school day seemed to have gone by so quickly, with two of your kids at their respective schools, and baby Emma staying home with you. You picked Nico up from preschool, Rebecca up from kindergarten, and by the time they had gotten home, eaten their dinner, played for a bit, and gotten into their costumes it was already six o’clock. Bucky had been at the compound all day; after you gave birth to Rebecca he decided to step down from missions and just trained the recruits, and you were on maternity leave for another good two months before you got back out in the field. Every inch of you was dying to go back on missions, no respect to stay-at-home moms, but you had too much energy and were tired of sitting on your ass all day.
“The great father of this household politely asks her Royal Highness and her subject to please help put the groceries away.” As soon as they heard their father’s voice the two older Barnes children sprinted as fast as they could to embrace him. Bucky stumbled backwards with their arms around his torso, but chuckled at his kid’s silliness and love. “Hey, guys, I missed you a ton.” He kneeled down to their height, cerulean eyes you loved so much filed with nothing but pure happiness. “Can you help me put away the groceries? I got you some broccoli because you need to eat more veggies, Nico, I know you haven’t been eating them.”
The young boy frowned, clearly upset that his dad caught him trying to sneakily avoid his greens, but nonetheless took the small bag of groceries to the kitchen counter. “Hey, baby, how was work?”
Bucky locked the door and sauntered over to you with a smile on his lips. “Boring, I miss having you there.” He pecked a quick kiss on your lips, moving on to the baby girl with the same eyes as him. “Hi, Em, did you miss your dada?” There was a hopeful tilt at the end of his question, waiting for the baby to say something in return
He got nothing but a wide-eyed stare.
With a huff he wrapped an arm around your waist and buried his head into your neck, sweet vanilla and cinnamon invading his senses. “Give it a while, Buck, she’s only three months old.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know.” Nico and Rebecca’s chatter about candy faded in the background as soon as the lock on the knob of the door started rattling again. “Doll, I should probably tell you that I-”
“Guess who’s favorite uncle is here?” Sam yelled through the house, adorning a Mad Hatter costume and large bags that seemed like they were full of-
“Candy!” Both Rebecca and Nico swarmed their “cool” uncle and started to peek in the bags.
“Wilson! I told you you could come over, not feed my kids junk.” Bucky grumbled. He walked to his friend, snatching the bags of candy out of his hands and putting them away, effectively ignoring the cries of his children. “You munchkins are about to go out trick-or-treating, you don’t need any more sugar.”
Sam walked over to you with a kiss on the cheek for cooing at the baby in your arms. “Aw, come on, Barnes, I’m just trying to have some fun. A man’s gotta do something to ensure their place as the favorite.”
An eye roll from Bucky and a wink from Sam, the two men slumped onto the couch where you sat. “Mama, are you gonna come with us? Can you do the magic for us, please?”
The kids were never supposed to know about your past, a past full of darkness and pain until Bucky walked in. It was only a year ago when they had seen footage of you with their Aunt Wanda controlling objects with wisps of glowing red energy. You had cried into Bucky’s arms the whole night after that as he comforted you, knowing how terrifying it was to have your kids know that other side of you. Your kids, the innocent ones they were, thought you were still the most amazing and badass mom who could bake the best cookies and was like a witch. Yeah, they had lots of bragging rights at school.
Bucky pulled Nico into his arms and nuzzled the boys face, letting the little boy squeal at the feeling of stubble on his soft skin. “Not tonight, Nico, your mama needs her rest. I’m gonna take you kiddos tonight.”
The soft “aww” of the kids was silenced by Sam’s proposition. “I can take the kids if you want, Bucky, that’s actually why I came over. You’ve had a long week and I’ve been on bed rest from the leg. You stay home with your wife and start working on my next nephew,” you punched him in the arm, eliciting a wince from the large man, “or niece.”
“I just gave birth three months ago, Sammy, I’m not doing that anytime soon.” A quick look at you husband for confirmation and you turned back to Sam. “Are you really okay with taking Nico and Rebecca?”
“Of course! We’re gonna go tear up the state.” A peck on the cheek from the Falcon, and he took your kids in his arms and slammed the door open. “We’ll be back in two hours! See you later!”
Another thud let you know that Sam had left, little Emma jerking in response to the loud sound. Bucky took this as an opportunity to sprawl out, head coming to rest in your lap as he took a deep sigh. “Just the three of us for Halloween this year, huh, doll?”
“Yeah, Buck, just the three of us.”
It wasn’t anything fun. It was you, Bucky, and Emma passed out on the couch at only six in the evening, exhausted from the days activities. But in the moment, you couldn’t find anything more special to than to share October 31st with two of your loves wrapped around you.

Word Count: 800ish
“So what’s your aunt’s name again?” Pippa asked me, as we walked up to my parents house. My family was having a big Halloween party and I brought Pippa, who was my girlfriend. “Her name is Clarissa, she’s the one with all the husbands” I told Pippa.
I had been teaching her everyone’s names on the ride over here, that way she knew who everyone was. “And then your uncle’s name is Clark? And he has three kids? And they’re all little?” Pippa reviewed. “A plus” I told her, smiling as I rung the doorbell.
My mom answered the door. “Hi mom! How are you?” I asked her, as I gave her a quick hug. “I’m doing good, it’s nice to see you again Pippa” she said, smiling. Pippa has already met both my parents and my two siblings. “It’s nice to see you too ma'am” Pippa said, politely.
“I thought I told you to call me mom, none of this ma’am nonsense” my mom said, laughing. Then she welcome us in and I could see that most of the family was already here. There were kids running around everywhere. Cousins and nieces and nephews all running around in their adorable Halloween costumes.
“Y/N” I heard a kid exclaim. I didn’t know who had said it. Then I saw Henry, my nephew, running over to me. I smiled to myself and kneeled on the ground. He came running into my arms.
“Hey Henry, how are you?” I asked him, giving him a hug. “I’m not Henry, I’m Spider-Man” he said, and I looked at his Spider-Man costume. “Oh okay. Hi Spider-Man, are you excited to go trick or treating tonight?” I asked him. “I’m going to get all the candy” he said, giggling.
“I want you to meet somebody, this is Pippa” I said, introducing them. “That’s a fun name” Henry said, still giggling. “It’s nice to meet you Henry” she said, smiling. He frowned at her. “I mean Spider-Man” she corrected.
The smiles on both their faces were precious. Pippa has always been so good with kids and their smiles were just infectious. I couldn’t wait til Pippa and I had our own kids. They would have the best Halloween costumes.
“Dinner time” I heard my mom call from the kitchen. The whole family went and sat down at the long dinner table that had been set up.
I sat with Pippa on my left and Henry was on my right. “Hey Y/N, I missed you when you came in” my sister said. My sister was Henry’s mom and she was sitting across from Henry.
“Hi, how have you been?” I asked her. “I’ve been good, this munchkin started daycare the other day” she said, looking at Henry. My mom brought out all of the food with my two aunts. “Let’s eat” my mom said, as she sat down.
“How can you possibly remember all of these people’s names?” Pippa whispered in my ear. “Well sometimes I don’t” I said, giggling.
“So Pippa, what do you do for a living?” My sister, asked her. “She’s a star. She’s on Broadway” I said, completely bragging about Pippa’s accomplishments. “It’s not that big of a deal” Pippa said, humbly.
“She’s sensational, you should come see Hamilton some time” I told my sister. “That would be amazing, how about that Henry?” She asked him. “What?” He asked. “You want to see Pippa in a show she’s in sometime?” She asked. He started vigorously nodding and smiling.
“So how old are you Henry? You’re like thirty-five, right?” Pippa teased. “Nooo, I’m only four” he said, giggling. “You had me fooled” Pippa said, smiling.
We got through the rest of dinner and then my mom brought out a few pumpkin pies. Henry got very excited when he saw the pies, let’s just say he was known for having a sweet tooth.
My sister cut a piece of pie for Henry and put it on his plate. “But mom, I want a bigger piece. I’m not a baby” he complained. “You’re gonna have candy tonight, you’ll be bouncing off the walls” she said.
I cut myself a bigger piece and then switched my plate with Henry’s. “Shhh, don’t tell your mom” I whispered to him. His eyes widened and then he quickly devoured the pie. My sister made eye contact with me and just laughed to herself.
“I love your family” Pippa told me. “Well I’m pretty sure they all love you too” I told you. We quickly finished dessert and then the kids left with their parents and Pippa and I stayed back with my mom to clean up.
“I had fun tonight. Thanks for inviting me” Pippa told my mom. “Of course, you’re always welcome here” my mom told her. “We got to celebrate the most three important things in life: family, friends, and pie” I said, giggling.

——————————————
“Trick or Treat!” An astronaut and a zombie sang at the front door of the Westergaard household.
“Clever costumes!” Hans said with a smile.
“Thanks, Uncle Hans!” Josef chimed. His astronaut helmet bobbled on his tiny head as he jumped around.
Anna and Kristoff stood behind their enthusiastic son.
“Good to see you again, Hans!” Anna said with a smile and a hug.
Heidi lunged at her uncle, clamping her teeth and growling.
“I’m going to eat your brains!” She shouted.
Hans fell backwards as the toddler climbed atop him. He laughed as she made guttural moaning noises in his ear.
“Alright Heidi, I think Uncle Hans has had enough brain eating.” Kristoff said from the door way. Hans said it was ok, but sometimes Heidi could be a little over enthusiastic.
Elsa came around the corner, her hand on her swollen belly.
“Hi kids! Anna, Kristoff, great to see you!” She said with a smile.
The kids raced to their aunty and cuddled her close.
“Careful guys,” Kristoff warned. “Remember Aunty Elsa has a baby in her belly.”
“You’re getting so big!” Anna remarked.
“Yep! 7 months down.” She said with a weary smile.
Hans reached for the candy bowl and placed fist fulls of candy in his niece and nephews treat bags. He winked at them as he knew this was much more candy than Anna and Kristoff would allow them to eat but he was their uncle after all, and he just had to spoil them.
“Alright kiddos, it’s getting close to dark, I’m afraid we are going to have to get to the other houses before we run out of time.” Anna said. She thanked Hans and Elsa and the family of 4 went on their way to find more candy.
“Alright Els,” Hans said “it’s time for our annual horror-movie-athon.”
Elsa smiled a toothy grin and waddled over to the sofa. Hans sat beside her and put his arm around her while they looked for the perfect horror movie to celebrate Halloween with.
“Let’s see,” Hans began. “We have Nightmare on Elm Street, The Conjuring-“
“Yes!” Elsa shouted. “The Conjuring! Ghost movies are my favorite!”
“Ok,” he said with a chuckle.
After about two minutes, Hans could hear a soft crunching noise coming from beside him. He looked around him inly to find Elsa shoving fist fulls of candy corn in her mouth.
“Ew!” Hans said with disgust. “How can you eat that garbage?”
“It’s delicious!” She said between mouthfuls of candy corn.
Hans made a face suggesting he may puke, but then smiled.
“It’s gross but I’ll love you anyway.”
“Hah. That’s good, cause you don’t have a choice!”
Hans smirked and kissed Elsa on her soft lips. They turned to watch the movie again, only to fall asleep on the couch together, Hans with his arm around Elsa, and Elsa’s hand in the candy corn bowl.

So, it is war between us!
Skiiiiiiin
Hopefully this is good ^^'
“Can we watch Boorhees after?”
“You wanna watch Friday the 13th after this one?”
“Yes!”
Davey gave a nod as he chuckled, sitting in front of his nephew who immediately dropped the topic in question. His attention had soon returned to the items before him: large papers and small tubs of paint that he constantly dipped his little fingers into. He then smeared the paint onto the papers, attempting to paint a tree.
“What kind of a tree is that?”
“A me tree.”
“Me tree?”
“No, me!” Rowan giggled as he pointed to himself, accidentally painting a red dot onto the apron he wore to prevent a big mess.
“A you tree?”
“Nooo, me!” the toddler repeated before Davey gave a laugh.
“Oooh! A rowan tree!”
“Ye.” Rowan nodded as he painted little red dots onto the tree, these resembling the berries on the trees. “What you making?”
“I’m painting a jellyfish. Like the ones your mama Jelly likes.” Davey spoke as he presented his painting, noticing that Rowan hadn’t even looked up from his own art. Davey quietly chuckled to himself before turning his attention to his other nephew who was seated on the couch behind the pair. “How you doing Basil?”
Basil’s eyes were practically glued on the TV screen that was on the other side of Basil and Rowan, Halloween 2 playing on the screen. In his little hand was a stick with cotton candy that he bit into every now and then.
“Oh, I’m fine Uncle Davey. I love the movie and cotton candy my Auntie Ally made.” Davey spoke in a high pitched voice before using his own voice. “Oh that’s so good to know Basil. Nice that you’re having fun.”
Davey looked over at the screen, of course Basil would be so entertained with Michael Myers chasing down his victims.
“Davey? Sweet Cheeks?”
“Y-yes?” Davey’s cheeks slightly flushed at the sound of one of the many nicknames his wife used for him.
“Dinner’s ready! Should I bring the bowls over or could you bring the boys?”
“Um…” Davey glanced over at the toddlers who were each still occupied with their own things, but he knew how to get the attention of at least one of them. “Who’s ready for some pasta?”
“Pasta!?” Rowan piped up, nearly spilling one of the cups of paint as he hopped onto his feet and nearly ran to the kitchen. Davey however caught him mi-air.
“Whoa, whoa. Slow down there.” he laughed as he set the squirming Rowan down, then standing up himself. “We’ll be there in a bit Ally.”
“ ‘Kay!” Ally called back as bowls being moved around were heard, starting to be set up.
Davey picked up the TV remote to pause the movie, receiving a sudden reaction from Basil who whipped his head around, almost offended.
“Relax, we’re just gonna go eat now. It’s dinner time.” Davey assured him, Basil giving him a look before giving in and sliding off the couch. With the hand that didn’t hold onto his cotton candy, he took Davey’s hand as Rowan took the other. Together, they all made their way to the dining room.
“What make Auntie Ally?” Rowan asked his aunt as they saw her setting down the bowls of food.
“I made some pasta with pesto sauce.” Ally described as she handed Rowan a silicone fork after she helped him onto a chair. “And do you know how the pasta is shaped?”
“How?”
“It’s shaped like bunnies!” Ally exclaimed which in turn made Rowan gasp loudly, and he excitedly waved his arms around as he looked down at the bowl of green pasta.
“Yeeesss!” Rowan cheered before digging his fork into the pasta, immediately shoving the gathered pasta in his mouth. “I wuv it!”
“I’m so glad.” Ally giggled before watching Davey help Basil up onto his own chair, the toddler being handed his own silicone spoon much to his dismay. Not even forks were harmless in his tiny 4-year old hands. “Hopefully Basil also likes it.”
“I’m sure he will.” Davey grinned as he pulled a chair out for Ally, hearing her whisper a thank you before he took his own seat.
“It’s sooooo good!” Rowan agreed as he shoved more of the pasta bunnies into his mouth, almost finishing the plate. In turn, he coughed as he choked just a bit. Nothing too bad.
“Whoa, slow down!” Davey laughed as he patted Rowan’s back. “I know it’s good, but take it easy, kay? I need you alive for when she picks you up.”
“Okay!” Rowan happily swung his little legs as he continued to eat his pasta a bit more calmly.
Davey looked over at Basil who scooped up his pasta in a much tranquil manner.
“You enjoying the pasta, Basil? I’m sorry we couldn’t find any shapes you would like.” Davey ruffled his nephew’s hair. “We could try to get you some dinosaur shaped ones. Or maybe Halloween ones with little bats and pumpkins.”
“Pumpkins.”
“Yeah, pumpkins.” Davey nodded before hearing Ally drop her fork on her plate, and he looked up at her, taking notice of her shocked expression. “What?”
Davey blinked as Ally’s eyes peered at Basil who continued on with his pasta business.
“Basil, do you want the Halloween pasta?” Ally asked the toddler who gave a nod.
“Halloween.” he repeated after her, a hint of an Australian accent present.
“Oh my god.” Davey now realized. “I...I have to call my sister!”
“Indeed.” Ally smiled as she gently pinched Basil’s cheek. Basil in turn, only continued to eat his pasta as if nothing grand had ever happened.”
_____________
“Skin. Skiiin. Skiiiiiin.”
“Rowan, why are you saying that?”
“Saying what?”
“Skin. Why are you saying that?” Ally asked as she tucked the boys into her and Davey’s bed, letting them sleep there until their parents came to pick them up.
“Oh. Because I hear it a lot.” Rowan shrugged with a giggle as he snuggled into the blankets and pillows, cuddling with his plush bunny that Ally handed to him.
“Where do you hear it?”
“My room. At night. After mommy and daddies go to sleep.” Rowan smiled as Ally gave him a weird look. “Stops when deer daddy comes.”
“Davey?” Ally called out to her husband that soon came into the bedroom.
“Yeah?”
“Um, I think maybe we should stay in the room with the boys.”
“Oh? Is everything okay?” Davey held Ally’s hand as she stood up and led him a bit away from the boys.
“Rowan was saying he constantly hears something saying ‘skin’ in his room. It is heard when their parents go to sleep.” Ally whispered, filled with concern as Davey looked at the boys for a moment.
“I’m...I’m sure it’s nothing. I know these boys and I know their parents; they would have realized if something was up with their boys. Especially with how talkative Rowan can be.”
“I...I guess that’s true.”
“And look, if anything, I have a feeling it might just be Basil. We just learned he actually speaks, so...I dunno...skin might be a word he really likes and he says it when his parents head off.”
“That would make a bit of sense.” Ally gave a smile as she felt a bit more comfortable. It really did make sense, and had it really called for any concern, Davey would have known. “Okay. Let me just finish tucking them in and I’ll meet you in the living room.”
“Sounds good.” Davey nodded. “You still up for Candyman?”
“Of course.” Ally returned the gesture before speaking in a volume she hoped Rowan wouldn’t hear. “Make sure to get the cheese puffs.”
“On it.” Davey snickered with a grin before making his way out, Ally then returning to the boys.
“Auntie, are you gonna read story?” Rowan sweetly asked before Ally sat at the edge of the bed to ruffle his hair.
“I already read you a story. Two, in fact.”
“I want another oooone.”
“No, no. You have to take a nap. Then I can read you another one.” Ally leaned down to kiss the top of Rowan’s head.
“Okie.”
“Okie.” Ally repeated before turning to Basil. “Don’t think I forgot about you.”
Basil gave Ally a side look before his eyes looked back to the front, soon shutting as he played coy.
“Basil,” Ally laughed before leaning over to now kiss his cheek. “Such a cutie. I also have your little Sin-A-Ma-Jig.~”
Basil now opened his eyes before he turned to his side, being handed his singing toy that he squeezed a few times.
“Skin-na-ma-rink.” Ally sang with the toy before fixing the blankets that covered Basil. “You boys have a good night. Sweet dreams, don’t let the bed bugs bite.”
“Good night Auntie.” Rowan yawned before he hugged his bunny tighter, soon going out as it too Basil a few moments to finally fall asleep too.
Ally smiled at the sight of the peacefully slumbering twins before turning off the lights, making sure to leave on a small projector that made stars on the ceiling. She left the door a little open before walking down the hallway, soon entering the living room where Davey laid on a couch with blankets and a large bowl of cheese puffs.
“How are they?” Davey asked before shifting so that Ally could comfortably lay between his legs.
“Both went out like a light.” she responded as she snuggled against his chest, feeling Davey drape a blanket over the two which already had Ally shutting her eyes.
“It looks like you’re going out too.”
“I’m just very comfortable on my Snuggle Shark.” Ally batted her eyelashes at Davey who looked away rather flustered, watching the movie that had been playing. “I love those boys Davey.”
“Me too.” Davey gave a sigh as he ran his fingers through Ally’s hair.
“You know,” she started. “I can’t wait till we have our own little ones.”
“Yeah.” Davey nodded, but he soon stopped himself once he properly processed the words. He looked down at Ally who only gave him a sly smile, soon burying her face into his chest before watching the movie. Davey, on the other hand, couldn’t help but give a flushed smile as he also turned his attention to the movie.
“Skin.”
“Did you say something?” Davey looked down at Ally again.
“No.” she shook her head.
“Oh. Okay. I must be hearing things with all this…”
“This what?”
“Well, ya know.” Davey made a motion with his hand as Ally looked up at him with a smirk. “Kid talk.”
“Uh huh.~”
“I mean,” Davey shrugged with a shy smile. “I know we’ve briefly mentioned the topic before but...I also...yeah…”
Ally watched Davey fumble with his words a bit, chuckling to herself before she brought herself closer to his face to plant a kiss on his chin.
“We could always start planning to have a little shark of our own.” Ally breathed out before pecking his chin once more.
“Oh, I see.” Davey basically giggled at himself at the suggestion, but the moment was soon ruined by a single word.
“Skiiin.”
“Okay, you had to have heard that.”
“Heard what?” Ally made a weird face.
“Skiiin.”
“Um,” Ally now sat up as she furrowed her brows. “I told you something was wrong!”
“Skiiin.”
“No, no. I think I know where it’s coming from.” Davey reassured her. “Just stay here, I’ll be right back.”
“Skiiin.”
“Are you sure? I can come with you.” “Skiiin.”
“Trust me, it’s all okay. I’ll be right back.” Davey removed himself from the couch before making his way to their bedroom. He immediately turned on the light to look at the sleeping boys, neither one seeming like they had woken up.
Davey gave a “hmm” as he slowly approached the bed, closely examining the two boys.
Rowan was in a deep sleep, arms and legs clearly sprawled under the blankets as his bunny was set on his chest. Meanwhile, Basil slept on his side, hugging his Sing-A-Ma-Jig tightly.
“I know you’re awake.” Davey claimed to the latter of the two, not receiving any response. So, he reached out and took hold of Basil’s toy, immediately feeling a grip from Basil. “I know you’re awake Basil.”
After a few tugs, Basil finally opened his eyes and glanced over at Davey who gave a sigh and chuckle.
“Buddy, come on. You have to go to sleep.” Davey insisted as he ruffled Basil’s hair, then he reached down to poke Basil’s toy. “Was that you, or this little guy?”
Basil looked down at his toy, giving himself a moment before he squeezed its belly.
“Skiiin.”
“Oh my god.” Davey gave a bit of a laugh. “Okay, well...I just need you to go to sleep, okay?”
The toddler stared up at Davey, giving him a single blink of his eyes that looked almost judgemental.
“Look, if you go to sleep, I can ask Ally to fire up her cotton candy machine and I’ll send you home with some cotton candy in some cool shapes.” Davey attempted to bargain as his nephew actually gave the offer thought. “Come on Basil. You really have to sleep, I shouldn’t be bargaining with my 4-year old nephew.”
Basil once again only blinked up at Davey.
“If you won’t sleep for cotton candy, at least sleep for me.” Davey grinned, but Basil only gave him a weird look. “Alright, alright. If not for me, sleep for your mommy. I know she’d be happy if I told her you were being a good boy and went night-night.”
At this, Basil could do nothing but give a sigh before rolling onto his back, toy hugged tight against his chest before he shut his eyes.
“I’m watching you.” Davey joked as he slowly stepped out of the room, finishing the interaction by turning off the light as he officially made his way out and back to the living room where Ally eagerly awaited him.
“So?”
“It was just Basil.”
“Really?”
“Well, not Basil-Basil. He was playing with that toy of his.”
“Skinamarink?”
“Skina-what?”
“Skinamarink, that’s what the toy sings.” Ally explained as Davey as he took a seat beside her. “Skinamarink, a-dink, a-dink. Skinamarink, a-doo, I love you. I love you in the evening underneath the moon.”
“Not ringing a bell.”
“Davey! You’ve babysitted these kids before!” Ally laughed as Davey gave a shrug. “But I don’t understand how the toy would say ‘skin’ and only ‘skin’.”
“Maybe Basil broke it and instead of making such a big deal he decided he liked it that way.”
“Maybe.” Ally gave a bit of a shrug as she resumed snuggling up to Davey, his arms wrapped around her as he nuzzled his nose into her hair. “Are we still watching the movie?”
“Yeah, of course.” Davey nodded as he cuddled with Ally, beginning to feel his eyes grow heavy as they landed on the TV screen.
“Skiiin.”
“God dammit.”
“What?” Ally lifted her head, also having found herself falling asleep.
“Skiiin.”
“Oh dear.” Ally rubbed her eyes as she woke up a bit more. “Davey, just leave him be.”
“Skiiin.”
“I would, but he has to take a nap. Or else he’s not gonna sleep at his own house.” Davey shook his head as Ally carefully removed herself from him. “I’ll be right back.”
“Mmkay.” she gave a disappointed hum as Davey made his way to the bedroom once again, turning on the lights in an instan to see Basil with his toy propped up on his chest.
Basil ever so casually looked at Davey, maintaining eye contact for a few seconds before his attention returned to his toy. Soon enough, he continued pressing the toy’s stomach before that dreaded sound was heard once again.
“Skiiin.”
“So, it is war between us!” Davey claimed, partly as a joke but still a bit serious as he approached the apathetic Basil. The toddler didn’t even bother to look at him as he continued to squeeze his toy. “Basil, come on. We talked about this.”
Finally, Basil looked up at Davey who gave him a semi-stern look.
“Skiiin.”
“Basil.” Davey repeated. “Please, you have to go to sleep buddy. You don’t want your mom to be upset, do you?”
Basil blinked at Davey, then shook his head no.
“Then you have to go to sleep, okay?”
Davey stared down at Basil who only stared back, blinking at him every now and then without any response. It was clear that Basil was just not feeling it; he was only going to continue playing with the toy unless Davey took it away, which Davey was not about to do. Unfortunately for him, there weren’t very many other options to hand to Basil in exchange for the toy.
“Okay, let’s make a deal.” Davey thought. “If I let you watch Candyman with me and Ally, will you go to sleep?”
Almost immediately, Basil gave a nod.
“Yeah, I had a feeling you’d say yes.” Davey helped Basil sit up. “But that just leaves me with the question...what to do with Rowan? I don’t want to leave him alone, but I also don’t want him waking up with the movie…”
“How about, you take Basil with you to the living room, and I take a nap with Rowan?” Davey now heard Ally behind him. “I’m actually getting a bit sleepy.”
“Oh, well that solves that.” Davey grinned as he picked up Basil, his nephew of course not letting go of his toy.
Ally gave a hum before kissing Davey’s lips, and then kissing the top of Basil’s head.
“You two have fun.” she spoke as she climbed into bed with Rowan, hugging the toddler to herself as he unconsciously snuggled back. “Nighty night.~”
“Sleep well.” Davey bid his wife before turning off the lights, soon walking out with Basil in his arms. The two were now in the living room once again, Davey laying on the couch as he let Basil lay on his chest.
“Did you know that the second Candyman movie is named ‘Farewell to the Flesh’?” Davey told Basil who looked over at his toy, giving it a single squeeze. “Yeah, Farewell to the Skiiin.”
Davey chuckled to himself as he fixed Basil’s hair, then giving him a kiss on the forehead.
Basil sprawled out all of his limbs on Davey, all but one that held onto his toy. He set his head down on Davey, eyes beginning to shut as he spoke one last word.
“Skiiin.”
“Yeah, yeah. Skiiin..”

Tumblr media
Summary: It's Halloween, everyone's entitled to one good scare. Being blind, Marnie McClane considers herself scared of very little. Few things worse than the polite pity she gets from the neighborhood. A misunderstanding leads to a conversation she’ll never forget while she recalls an old friend.
A/N: I’m not back, I might return Monday but idk I guess when I’m down, I write things for slashers that interest very few in my circle. Posting anyways :( I made this in 2 hrs lol
Hope this is enjoyed either way, just trying to get my drive back. Thanks all!! ((TW: Shockingly none!!! Light threats of danger maybe?? No smut sorry)) Let me know what you think and I promise to reply when I return to tumblr for good. xoxo
Halloween, 1963
   “Trick-or-treat!”
Always followed with shy giggles and little, outstretched hands.
“Take as many as you like.” A bowl was pushed forward with a colorful selection. Marnie McClane tilted her head to hear the rustling. Parents chided so ‘thank yous’ followed.
   “You’re all very welcome.”
“Richie, don’t take that many!” A voice sparked.
“Ah, mom, she said to take a bunch. She can’t see me!”
  “Richie!”
“It’s alright, we bought too much this year.” Marnie listened to footsteps across cobblestone.
“Richie, don’t run too far, young man!”
  “I won’t!”
“Sorry about him. Just at that age. You know?” Mrs. Castle approached the porch Marnie had seated herself on.
  “Kids.” A light shrug followed.
  “Who did your decorating?”
“Dad and I before they left for my Aunt’s.” Eerie blue eyes shifted a few directions. No focused on any impossible blur in the black.
  “And...you’re alright here by yourself?”
Marnie tried not to sour. The nosy neighbors meant well.
“Yes. Get around fine same as always.” She plucked up a cane next to her and tapped the ground.
“Oh, well, that’s good. Pretty costume.”
“Mom said Red Riding Hood was in this year so I let her dress me. Honestly, I think she just wanted me to stand out in the bright red cape if I decided to wander.” Marnie paused to greet another small round of kids. Smiling to offer the packed bowl.
“My, ah, nephew is visiting. He’s smart. So handsome. Studying to be a lawyer. You’ll like him. I’ll send him by. Just some good company.”
Marnie twitched a smile. Story of her life. Everyone trying to set her up with nice, young men. Pity dates for the blind girl.
“Great.” She replied flatter. “So nice.”
“You two will hit it off, I just know it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have an impatient boy gesturing- I’m coming, Richie! ...Enjoy your Halloween dear.”
“You too, Mrs. Castle.” Marnie heard the wind rustling.
Chatter and footsteps. Distantly, birds flapped overhead. It was easier to greet trick-or-treaters from the porch steps. Cold didn’t bug her during long autumn days. Always nice to feel wind on her face.
Not like she could watch much on television.
The night lingered and candy ran low.
Marnie picked up her thin cane and tapped around. Heard some animal rustle violently in the bushes. Probably a raccoon, they loved to eat the pumpkins. She moved back up the steps so she could put the bowl inside and shut the porch light off after feeling for the switch. When her parents weren’t home, she kept the house pitch black.
  She didn’t need the lights.
Shifting back to the porch stairs, Marnie crouched down and reached about for the pumpkin sitting there. Lifting it poised to blow out the candle. The flicker of warmth touched her expression
A ragged breath cut into the space. Near the open gate. Made her perk. Dark hair fell over her shoulders and she exhaled. Leaving the candle on to bathe her face.
“Hello?” Feet shifted over concrete, making a slow scrape. She pressed her lips together. “I suppose you’re here to tell me it’s against the rules to snuff the lights in a pumpkin before Halloween ends.”
  No reply.
“Well, I suppose I can leave them on just this once. Can’t upset the Halloween spirits.”
  Nothingness.
“Are you Mrs. Castle’s lawyer nephew? Forgive me, she didn’t tell me your name.” Marnie sat there on the porch. Heard the steps get closer. “Silent type.”
The Shape stood over her in darkness. Figured the nephew was the man he’d left in the bushes a few moments ago. The street around them hushed as more houses turned off their porch lights. Marnie stood with the pumpkin under one arm. Face glowing.
“Name’s Margaret. McClane. Marnie for short. How do you do?” She extended one hand out into the wind. Felt the cool breeze kiss it. A broad palm lifted, decided against it, and dropped.
All she heard was the tapered breathing. Even like a heartbeat.
“Shy sort.” She tucked hair away and sat down to put the carved face aside. “Well, you walked all this way. I didn’t hear a car. You can sit if you like.” Bright eyes stared ahead into nothingness. The Shape moved finally. Sat upon the creaking porch steps. “Studying to be a lawyer. I thought you’d talk my ear off. It’s okay, I can talk enough for both of us. Like a guessing game, I like those. Probably my condition. Most of my life is a guessing game.”
She tilted her head to laugh softer. A too sweet sound.
“It’s alright to laugh with me.” She clutched her cane in one hand and placed the other on her knee. “Good sense of humor makes the day a little easier.”
He might of grunted but she couldn’t quite tell.
“You’re already thinking I talk too much. I get it a lot.” Marnie swallowed. Sounded a little harder. “We can get one thing straight. I’m blind. I’m not shy. Not helpless. If I need help, I have a perfectly good voice and I use it. I know it annoys people, but they’re too polite. So, if you’re the polite, pitying type, I think it’s best you continue on elsewhere.”
He didn’t move. She inhaled the air. Metal. Grass. Dirt. Earthy-like.
“Very well.” Marnie’s lips lifted again. They sat there together. A dark fall night with a glow from the moon and stars twinkling.
Marnie could imagine them. Although she figured the stars were multi-colored like Christmas lights and the moon was a blob of a shape. Moving as a lava lamp would.
“I lost it when I was young. My eyesight. I have these memories like maybe I saw what a cat looked like or my mother’s face. But, it’s probably all wrong now.” She leaned back like she was admiring the moon. Basking in its light. Thoughtfully, she recalled something else. “You remind me of a friend I had. He was quiet too. We fit together. He spoke very little and I too much. He didn’t seem to mind. Like you.”
A head turned finally to study her behind a rubber mask.
“You know, that old stereotype, that all blind people wanna do is touch faces...it’s all wrong. Everyone thinks I want to, I hate it when they force my hand up without asking.”
  He puffed.
“Exactly, it’s so rude. I don’t often touch faces. I don’t like to.” She placed her cane’s handle under her chin to hum. “But, this boy I knew...I asked to touch his face. Everyone used to call him angelic-like. Said he had the face of an angel. I wanted to know what an angel’s face felt like.”
Marnie laughed again like it was silly.
“Though, I suppose I had nothing to compare it to.” She paused and he felt for a moment that she was looking through him. Burning into the chill of stone and black. Slowly, Marnie scooted closer. Not enough to touch him, but enough to feel body heat vibrate. Her chest shuddered.
He didn’t move. Hard and rigid like marble.
“Can I touch your face?” She lifted one hand. “I just want to know if you’re smiling or frowning. Trying to figure out if I should shut my damn mouth.” Extending as steady as she could. A slash cut through the air.
  Marnie gasped out.
Fingers curled firm around her wrist. Another shaky breath. One they shared.
“Sorry, if I offended you.” Softening, she stayed there. Heard his lungs vibrate.
A rustle followed. Knuckles twitched as he closed the distance. Let her draw lines up his jaw that was smooth and angled carefully. Face sculpture just so. Maybe by angels.
When he couldn’t handle more. He pushed up from Marnie. Pulled his mask down. Felt the warmth of her touch trapped under it.
“Leaving?” She jumped up, dropping her cane aside. A hand went out and missed it. The footsteps stopped at her gate. Returned before her cane was pushed aimlessly at her palms. She paused. “Thank you.”
A glint of a blade met the moonlight. He pointed it at her heart while she stood oblivious. One plunge, it would have eased into her like butter. A stray, dark lock shifted over her eye.
“Maybe you’ll tell me your name next time we meet. I hope.” Marnie hushed. Unaware. Unafraid. One finger awkwardly shifted the hair from her face, tracing the line of her cheekbone in the process. She leaned into it and remembered something else. “Michael.”
He froze. Blade still poised. Tremoring, he pulled back from her face.
“That was my friend’s name.” She sounded out the syllables mournfully. “He changed. Went away. That’s what they told me. I always wished he grew comfortable enough to speak his thoughts. That’s why I’m not shy. No use hiding behind masks. Except on Halloween, I suppose. I’ve never touched an angel before, but maybe you’re close. It can be another guessing game.”
Marnie smiled kindly down the blade, chest sinking.
“If not, that’s fine too.” She said, catching his hand when it came down. Both their palms were chilled. He thought to slash forward. To crush her. Whatever was left of the boy with a face of an angel turned him back to marble. Delicately, Marnie placed one careful kiss upon his knuckles. Burned it there for the rest of his life.
There was a pause while he slipped away.
Before she heard the steps retreating.
“Will I see you again?” She chuckled at herself. Touching her lips. “Sorry, the phrase always makes me laugh.” Marnie went up her porch, cane clicking as she felt for the doorknob. Michael Myers stopped at the gate. Saw her shifting in shadows to open the door. “Will you come back?
Lips opened to sound out a single word against the cool, night air. Neither of them heard what is was. Just the breath that cast with it. Marnie’s lips pressed simply.
She bid The Shape a lovely goodnight and went inside. Left him there. Taking what lingered of the past with her. Leaving him the burn of a kiss he would never forget.
