Do you think twst has any chance to make at least one fan ship canon? Like for example they hint on someone from nrc main cast is dating, or even something deeper with yuu. Or absolutely nothing of that happens because it's a disney game at the end?

No way, absolutely not 😂 They'll always tease it, but never actually commit to it. That's why Ace has an ex and not a current girlfriend (the other part of it is just him being an asshole). That's why Eliza/the Ghost Bride doesn't actually marry Idia; only expresses an interest in him but ultimately settles for someone else. That's why Vil has several adoring fans but those fans are not depicted as gunning for him as their boyfriend/husband (when the most crazed of fans irl would). That's why Lilia confessed to Maleanor but she chose someone else and later died (while the other person Lilia "loves", Raverne, went missing), thus "freeing" Lilia up. That's why Cater always talks about cute girls (and even fellow peers) but doesn't go out of his way to act on those flirtations. This has less to be with "oh, it's Disney" and more to do with the genre of the game (joseimuke). If anything, I feel like people might expect there to be canonized romance because it's Disney--a company closely associated with happily ever afters and fairy tales--not expect no canonized romance. However, a joseimuke game often presents characters in a platonic or questionably platonic light so the players can project whatever relationships with the characters they wish, whether that’s between the character and themselves, between the character and an OC, or between character and character. To canonize a "love interest" for a character hampers the self-insert appeal for fans of that character. There have been multiple instances of gacha fanbases becoming upset when the games try to introduce a "canon" or even a “rival” love interest for a beloved waifu, husbando, etc. because it makes fans of the now "taken" character feel ignored, rejected, or generally (for lack of a better term) "cheated on". That goes for shipping between the player or an OC and the character as well as shipping the characters with one another. This would also potentially upset the fans who headcanon the characters as a certain sexuality and/or with a certain dynamic in mind. I'd imagine Twst would want to avoid this at all costs, as it causes drama in the fandom and could eat into their profit margins.

I'm also very much against the idea that one character will be the romantic "end game" for Yuu. I often see one particular character (who shall not be named, as I do not want to stoke unnecessary discourse) being hawked as "the canon love interest", but if I'm being honest those kinds of claims make me uncomfortable. In stating one character is "the canon love interest" (even as a joke), it unintentionally invalidates those who don't wish to be forced to "be" with that character, and especially if they have a preference for someone else. This would be even worse if ever canonized; fans of that ship will rejoice but everyone else would be dissatisfied. Again, it just hinders the self-insert design of joseimuke games and is extremely counterintuitive in that regard.

Some Crowley and Lilia Parallels(?)

?? am i reaching here but doesn't "Crowley searching for a way for Yuu to go home" similar to "Lilia searching for a way for Malleus to hatch"?lol

like they both travel to far away places to search for clues to solve their younglings' problem and both Malleus/Yuu are frustrated whenever they're gone for their travels, Crowley/Lilia can't find a logical explanation why they're taking so long solving their problem too (like how Lilia foolishly trust wishes to make a dragon egg hatch bcs its just impossible to find another dragon and how Crowley seems like he's being lazy because he truly doesn't know how to transport a human back to another world) even though they're the person best suited to solve Malleus/Yuu's problem (crowley being the manager of orientation so he definitely must know(?) where the students came from and lilia being the only person Meleanor told that he'll hatch Malleus) also both of them are quite detached by how much Malleus/Yuu depends on them (by that i mean they leave them alone too much and lack communication with them even though theyre the person who took them under their wing)

They also have a habit of surprising people by falling from the sky (like Crowley's animation during special lessons and how Lilia always appears upside down to scare people)

and the difference between their serious and goofy personality is striking (like General Lilia with his mean attitude and deep voice vs Peepaw Lilia and then Prologue Crowley w his ominous vibe and again deeper than usual voice vs Weird Headmage Crowley).

Also idk if this means anything but they're also the characters with the most unique voices in-game, and im unsure about this too but i think their speech patterns both uses old english phrases yet still maintaining a modern pattern (to fit with the youths yk) and they both have "groups of bats/crows" surrounding them and serving as their only motif-- which makes me think both of them have familiars????

also both of them have "minimal magic usage"..... Crowley really doesn't casts any magic atleast in-game (but in other TWST media Crowley casts basic magic) and we know how Lilia is losing his magic because he exhausted it for hatching a dragon egg- Both of their (potential) twisted Disney characters (Bat goon and Diablo/Diaval) have a role in searching for Aurora too (I remember the Bat goon and co. was originally the ones tasked to search for Aurora but he failed so the task was passed to Diablo instead, and Diaval bcs he discovered that King Stefan had a daughter which raged Maleficent in the live action-)

I'm pertaining that if Crowley is Levan,,,, then these similarities would point out to the fact that [Lilia and Levan were always together](than Meleanor did) to the point where they kind of adapted each other's qualities, even if centuries pass-- Also TWST likes mirroring the "knights" of this game (i.e Silver and Sebek, Deuce and Ace), Lilia and Levan were Right and Left Generals (knights), so it kinda explains why they're having similar struggles and similar life pattern(?) (like babysitting an unprecedented child amidst their independent life and being hit with an important problem that is "impossible to solve")

so In conclusion?? did Meleanor cursed her generals to be eternally struggle babysitting troubled children?? XD

totally reaching here-- if Crowley is Levan and his life truly is similar to Lilia's,,, then then does that mean he cut his hair like Lilia's ???? 😳 bcs think about it,,,, all the Briar Valley characters we got has long hair (Meleanor, Baul, and Gen. Lilia) so does that mean if we do get a reveal of Crowley/Levan,,, we'll see Crowley with a longer hair as Levan- ✨🙏

If that's true,,, atleast Levan's hairstyle as Crowley wasn't a chaotic job like Lilia's,,,, LOL it kinda matches their description that Levan is more prim and proper KDHWKHD atleast as Crowley, Levan is actually attempting fashion instead of randomly matching whatever like Lilia 😭 also didn't Crowley had a tangent about his very specific food taste when asking for souvenir(GloMas Event)?? which hits the nail about Lilia's complaint about Meleanor and Levan being picky eaters lol

I've mentioned before that the witch that turns your chicken eggs into void eggs is Malleus grandma. That also means the witches hut is also his grandmas house. In that quest line you learn more about Malleus backstory of how he was orphaned and raised by his grandma and Lilia. And how his childhood was all about learning magic and thus he never got used to making friends. That is until he meets Yuu.

When you go down into the mines, the deeper levels have the blot phantoms for you to fight.

Fleur Town is the neighboring town you can take by bus, and there you can meet Rollo and friends. You can buy things off of them there, and yes, like Fellow and Giddel, there is a quest to get him to move to Night Raven.

If you marry Epel, he will occasionally gift you an apple or even an apple sapling.

Marja is kinda like the Evelyn in this au. Your sweet local granny who will occasionally gift you food if you befriend her. Specifically her famous apple pie.

The towns little school house sadly does not have much to offer in terms of arts programs. So Vil has occasionally volunteered to teach the kids about acting and helping them put on small shows for their families for them. Maybe a heart event or quest line for Vil is to help him collect supplies for the kids show. " Farmer, help! I need this amount of wood and this amount of cloth so I we can build the sets and costumes for the children."

In the same vein as the farmer going into Robin and Demetrius room in the game, and finding books about blended families, if you go into Falena and Ashas bedroom, you'll find books about how to recognize being the Golden Child and moving forward from there. One of Falenas friendship heart events is him expressing how he wishes to be closer to his brother and recognizing that their father played favorites and wasn't a good parent to Leona.

Again in the same vein as above, part of Leonas storyline is learning about his childhood and always being ignored by their father, and when he wasn't, being compared to Falena and how that soured his relationship with his brother.

If you marry Leona, The Kingscholars recognize you as a member of the family and make references to it. Like Cheka referring to Farmer Yuu as Auntie/Uncle/etc.

Idia has once, and only once, attempted to go into he mines and considered joining the adventures guild, thinking it would be like one of his fantasy RPGs. He was sorely mistaken and never did it again. He saw one green slime and got the fuck out.

Cater lives in a house with his two sisters and they are almost always arguing over the division of chores.

Once Yuu starts getting close to Riddle, his mother will have a cutscene telling them that Riddle has a bright future ahead of him, and that Yuu should tread lightly around him so as not to ruin anything.

Like Kent in game, you don't meet Lilia until after the first year in game. Baul, Silver, Malleus, and Sebek all mentioned Lilia throughout that first year. From they tell Yuu, Lilia is a veteran and the leader of the adventurers guild and is off on his travels. Hes written to Silver that he will be back soon, and then the mysterious Lilia shows on your doorstep at the start of Spring of year 2 to introduce himself.

Ruggie lives in trailer just outside of town and close to where he works, he mentions he sends money to his grandma back home. Obviously if you marry Ruggie, his financial situation is much better, and he has dialogue about how he can help his granny so much more now thanks to you for it. The house is always in top shape and the animals fed when Ruggie is your husband.

Crowley is always hatching schemes to bring in more tourists and business to town. So he often ropes Farmer into helping him get supplies for whatever event or ideas he has in mind to bring people to Night Raven. That usually includes handing over fliers to Rollo to hang up in Fleur Town. Or gathering wood to build stands for the farmers market he decided to open.

If you marry Jack, his personal add on room and hobby corner in the yard is full of exercise equipment and his cactuses. He has dialogue about how it's great being able to jog around the farm in the morning and how you shouldn't strain yourself and ask him if there's any heavy lifting to be done.

The cave on your farm that lets you either grow mushrooms or collect fruit are two separate offers. Jade will tell you that the cave on your property is a prime spot for growing mushrooms and he can set it up. Or Lilia will come and tell you about the fruit bars in the area and how he can help so bats are more likely to hang out in their and this leaves fruit for you to collect. You can choose to accept one offer over the other, if you reject both at the time, you can tell them you changed your mind later.

Mr. And Mrs. Shroud will ask Yuu about the blot monsters in the mines, and regularly put out commissions on the community board or Guild about the monsters. They are scientists that research them and always welcome whatever info you tell them, or giving them the stone items they drop when you kill them.

Royal Sword Mart Manager, Ambrose has a grandson he mentions if you come over to shop. Eventually said grandson, Arthur, will come to town, stating he's come to live with his grandfather now that he's getting older and Arthur worries for him and his health. Yes Arthur is also a marriage candidate.

Trey works at the local bakery and often gifts Yuu things like cake and bread as they become better friends.

One of Riddles cut scenes is Yuu overhearing a conversation between Riddle and his mother. Mrs. Rosehearts complaining about Riddles friends, Trey and Che'nya. Riddle tries to defend them, but his mother won't hear it. Once she walks away, Riddle notices the farmer, he explains how his mother was always strict and homeschooled him over sending him to the local school house with the other kids. Especially because she didn't approve of the local kids like Trey and Che'nya, who would always sneak Riddle out to play. If you marry Riddle, he has plenty of dialogue about how he's excited to invite Trey and Che'nya over for dinner, what sweets they should serve for dessert, and how much his mother would disapprove.

twst (horror) tober — day 6 (time)

➤ Day 6: Time | “How long has it been?” 

Silver once told him that ever since stepping into the role of caring for Lilia, the concept of time turned meaningless to him.

Silver told him that he can only categorize the days now on a continuum of good and bad.

There were days when his father would wake up with the hint of recognition in his eyes and an agreeable slant to his lips, and Silver needn't coax him out of bed to amuse him with the trinkets and gifts bestowed upon him by well-meaning classmates and a grieving liege. There were even better days when a glimmer of memory not yet lost would surface in the dark and mired deadlands of his father's deteriorating mind, when he'd pat the cushion beside him on the couch and regal Silver with a tale he'd heard at least several times before— each time, he listens just as patiently as if it were the first.

And then there were bad days when the fae that awaited him on the other side of the bedroom door screeched and howled in a long-lost tongue, days when Silver was forced to use the iron bolts that Malleus-sama had pleaded with him to install on the wooden frame if he wouldn't listen to reason and use manacles fixed to the bed instead ("My father isn't a monster, Malleus-sama, I won't humiliate him and strip his dignity away!") to stop those wild, ragged claws from tearing through the wood like paper to scratch out his eyes. Days when it is hard to separate the loving, smiling father from the feral creature caught in a losing battle as it succumbs to a fate inevitable to its kind.

Sebek listens to his friend, remains silent for once— it is unlike Silver to share his burdens, to even talk about the difficulties of caring for a fae so advanced in the decay as Lilia lest he fears that anyone find him complaining. They had all tried to talk him out of it when they had learned that Silver had already rescinded his studies at Night Raven College with the intent to care for his father to the bitter end. Malleus had nearly been beside himself, for safety could not be guaranteed, even for a human as strong and determined as Silver— "He'll overwhelm you," Sebek had watched his prince all but beg the boy to reconsider. "You know naught of what you are consigning yourself to, you have never seen our kind at our most frightful display. He would not wish this upon you, he would want his memory to remain pristine in your mind!"

But Silver had remained steadfast, loyal and devoted to his father beyond all rational persuasion. "I will not allow his last moments to be in suffering and all alone, Malleus-sama. He has sacrificed his life for the country, for you, and for me— I find it hardly equal what meager weeks I can give to him so that he may go in peace."

And so they had left to that cottage in the forest, the only home that both of them had ever known. Sebek had visited only once, the nature of being Malleus-sama's sole guard until Silver's return dictating that he shoulder a more hefty responsibility. They had both appeared rather worn and weary, bags deeper under Silver's eyes than he had ever known them to exist before, but together at least with wan smiles on their faces, as Silver had so desperately wished for them to be.

All the same, Sebek's gaze had keenly noted the presence of thin, crimson lines along Silver's forearms and neck— he found himself too much of a coward to glance at Lilia's hands.

Today, however, he's visiting for a much different reason than merely personal concern. Malleus-sama had bid him to venture out into those isolated, lonely woods, a frown deep and haggard on his perfect face; Sebek knows that if he were to look in a mirror, the same expression would be reflected back at him. For two weeks now, not a single letter delivered to the cottage had returned with correspondence, courtesy of Silver's little feathered friends usually so delighted to concede to his requests. Normally, a week's worth of silence would have jolted the both of them into worry, but with the whirlwind of a recent goodwill trip to the neighboring human countries, Sebek had merely assumed there would be a small pile of daily updates from Silver for them to look forward to reading upon their return. Imagine then, the foreboding that had settled in like an ominous pressure at the lack of any such notes.

That pressure only mounts and builds with a wicked weight upon his shoulders as he approaches the darkened cottage, silent among the stilled trees. A pressure that twists in his stomach like a corkscrew, and grips his throat in a vice, thinning the air he breathes as he stares with dread at the front door swinging off its hinges, and a faint, nauseating smell choking the scent of violets from beneath his feet.

Today, it seems, is not simply a good or bad day— it is an awful one.

dunmeshi au for my twst ocs bc I fell head first in the dungeon and got brain damage

ok so this is set in the dunmeshi world but it's a separate story, unrelated to the main plot and characters

Shipwreck Cove is a dungeon on a cliff by the sea, near a coastal town. it's impossible to reach it by sea, as it's surrounded by constant whirlpools, the only way to get in is by climbing to the highest point of the cliff

great part of it's inner structure is submerged or surrounded by water, but it's still frequented by many adventurers bc the water that flows to the upper levels seems to have slight curative properties. legend says the water at the heart of the dungeon can heal incurable illnesses or even grant eternal life

🦑 Morgan (gnome) has been lord of the dungeon for something around ten years. his original wish is a secret

he was once an adventurer. he's an experienced mage both at healing magic and offensive spells (and has also studied the darks in secret), but his weak legs slowed down the party, who had no qualms in letting him know so, either by reproaching him or straight up letting him fall behind

one day, angry and frustrated, Morgan abandoned his party and ventured deeper into the dungeon by himself. by the time he noticed, he had reached the deepest level and, well, things happened

Morgan has severe abandonment issues. he created the quaintest little dungeon to lock himself in with his close circle. it was a beautiful and safe place, so that people could come and go at their leisure

soon enough, Morgan started feeling like people went more than they came back, so he started tweaking the dungeon bit by bit to discourage people from roaming. changing pathways, setting traps, creating more monsters. generally making it increasingly harder to navigate, until it became practically inhabitable except for the designated safe area, which was still pretty much a little eden

his resentment was such that he would find a way to make people part of the dungeon itself

at some point, tired of his body and of his lack of power over others, he turned himself into a kraken chimera, sealed his demon in a chest immediately afterwards, and has since then lived locked up with the few people he could trap in a wrecked ship at the deepest point of the dungeon, guarded by an ever larger kraken (that's his pet that he feeds other monsters and hapless adventurers to lol)

[only one person was ever able to escape Morgan's dungeon, an elf that used to be his closest confidant. however, just as they were about to step out, Morgan stole and sealed their magic in a locket that he keeps somewhere in his ship-home

this elf lives in a secluded area further than the outskirts of town, where they welcome adventurers to whom they offer incredible things in exchange of them traveling and conquering the dungeon, with the intention of getting back their powers that way]

🐒 Blake (tallman) and 🎇 Jacob (dwarf) are a pair of adventurers that hate each other yet have been working together for years lmao

they're quite successful in their expeditions but they're insufferable, so they're always looking for new members for their party bc the previous ones got fed up and left sksksk

they arrived at Shipwreck Cove following the legend of the water of life, each of them for their own reasons

(I still haven't decided if monkey Jacob exists in this au)

⚫ Avon and ⚪ Alba are a pair of walking mushrooms that are always together. they're funny to look at from afar, but they have a nasty vibe when you get close so adventurers prefer avoiding them

Morgan enjoys watching them tussle, so when more people started going in the dungeon he made them an area where they can still be seen while being out of reach enough from strangers. they've become some sort of a local attraction

(I originally thought to make them half foot florists, but a friend came up with this idea and I thought it was so funny that I adopted it lol)

🕰️ Eri (elf) is an historian. he feels a fascination for the short lived races, so he moves to different towns for periods at a time to document the daily lives of those who live and pass through there

🌻Lucas (kobold) is more of an explorer than an adventurer. he and 🛰️ Xander (dwarf), an inventor, travel the world together looking for strange materials and objects for Xander's experiments

🐻 Björn (tallman, bear beastkin) is an adventurer from the north that likes showing off his strength. he travels from one place to another looking for new challenges and creatures to beat

⏳ Noya (gnome) a scholar with an expertise in magical artifacts, who also studies the development of magic. since he's not allowed to study the origins of magic, he has had to settle for observing and studying how it evolves in every day contexts. he occasionally crosses paths with Eri

💋 Philly (elf) is a criminal enlisted by the Canaries against his will. his crimes include theft and selling of magical artifacts, arson, and murder, but true cause of his conviction was attempting to use the dark arts to extend his tallman lover's lifespan

(he's a die hard fan of the Daltan Clan novels and all the other prisoners hate him bc it's all he ever talks about sksbsk)

🎶 Aedon (tallman) kabru without the trauma is barkeep by day and singer by night. they like watching people and trying to guess their stories

“Don’t look, darling. Look at me instead. It’ll be okay, just look at me, dear.”

Vil coaxes like everything is just fine, like there isn’t blood splattered over his clothes and the wall behind him. Like the evidence of what he had done wasn’t all over, well, everything.

He frowns when he sees you still drifting in thought, and you wish you had the strength to say that you were anything but scared of him. Seeing him commit such violence without a second thought, straying far from the picture of poise and restraint that he displayed himself as, was fucking terrifying. You desperately wished you could say that he wasn’t pretty like this, but you would be lying. If anything, he looked like he just came from a movie set - a horror movie, granted, but nonetheless. It was just… off putting.

“Poor thing. Too violent for you, hm?”

Faux sympathy laces his tone heavily, and he comes forward to… comfort you? You flinch back no matter what his intentions are, and that just serves to make him frown deeper.

“Mm… I understand, love, you’re just overwhelmed. I know its a bit shocking, dear, but you’ll come to accept my affections. I forgive you.” He sighs, and your eyes grow wide with the realization that’s he’s being serious. This isn’t a ploy to trick you - this is his honest interpretation of the scene. That you’re overwhelmed. Not that he was scaring you, no, but that you couldn’t believe his love confession. Which this… apparently was.

What… What the fuck?

You scramble away from him the best you can, eyebrows heavily furrowed and thoughts racing. You hardly realize that you’re cutting off your own escape, too preoccupied with putting distance in between you and Vil.

He does, though.

The look in his eyes when you realize that you’re trapped is one you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

So I have a shit ton of Twst fankids btw! They kinda swim around in my brain but only a few ppl I know have gotten the info dumps lmao

They’re my older Jamiazu kid, I do have two. The younger one is my octo boy Akram :) he’s funny I wanna pinch his cheeks but he’s not the point here

So Skye! It feels weird publically infodumping abt my OCs like wtf am I even supposed to put here

They’re a half mer, which do work a lil different than normal mers in my lore. Half mers can transform without a potion but it’s still a long and generally painful process, esp going from mer to human. I kind of switch between calling them a snake mer and a naga but there’s lore there- Nagas exist in my lore outside of sea snake mers, there are also fully terrestrial Nagas. So the terrestrial nagas wouldn’t be considered snake mers but the sea snake nagas would be a type of mer while also still being a naga ITS CONFUSING DONT ASK (actually do. Ask everything so I can roll more of my fankids out like marbles)

Skye was created by a spell, I haven’t quite worked the details out 😔 but Jamil is part gorgon in my lore which is why they have the hair snakes which isn’t a typical naga trait. And to elaborate on the hair snakes: they are alive, the one w the bigger stripes is Flora and the smaller stripes is Jett. Skye can communicate w them telepathically and their eyes glow which is kinda neat. They’re kind of Skye’s version of floatsam and jetsam (unless u count Rico (florid) and Lilac (treyjade) which is like their ver of the twins- IDK ITS COMPLICATED)

idk what else to put here so LETS THROW SOME FHARACTER DYNAMICS YEAH and also mentioning some of my other fankids! They all have profiles (except my Malleus kid I’m sorry Aihan I can’t think of a design for you) but I’m probably gonna save those for another post-

So jamiazu in my lore live in the Shaftlands in a beachfront place and also live pretty close to Treyjade, however Florid live in the Queendom. The octatrio and their spouses is a close group so they’re essentially a big family. My treyjade kids are Maren (older) and Lilac, then my Florid kids are Rico (older) and the twins Mary and Eliza.

Skye saw Lilac more as a kid cuz they lived so close together but also saw Rico a lot when flrd would visit or they’d go to visit them. Rico is an agent of chaos and Lilac is Skye’s 2nd in command so their dynamic on a surface level is pretty similar to the octatrio, but there’s still a lot of differences once u get into the meat of it. Tho Lilac and Rico are Skye’s best friends and basically like siblings to them.

Outside of jamiazu Skye is particularly close with Jade, they share a love of tea :) he’s their cool but also slightly unsettling uncle

THEN THERES SHENZI- Shenzi is my younger kaliruggie kid and I am not gonna get into her here bcuz she rlly needs her own post w all her trauma but good lord these two do not like each other. Shenzi’s really nice but she’s not quite as nice as Kalim so after about 5 months of trying and failing to befriend Skye in their freshman year she just gave up and now their relationship is nothing but hostile (which was not helped when Shenzi and lilac started dating)

:D I'm so glad you like clingy, codependent bf Azul!!!! He's so terrifying. I'm relieved those unsettling feelings could be felt because I felt so when typing it. I had actually just finished watching a true crime series when I was writing it. It frightened me to such a degree that I had to put that anxiety into writing and thus clingy, codependent bf Azul was born. <3

Thank you so much for enjoying the trio in my writings!!! I never gave them much thought in the very beginning. They've grown on me. Like pesky barnacles on a whale's back, they are forever stuck. I wouldn't have it any other way hehe.

I will definitely write more for other characters! Actually, when twst got its English release I made a tier list to show my friend how I felt about the characters. Since then, my opinions and tastes have changed. There was a category called "we can get dinner, but that's it" and I put Trey there. It's an inaccurate portrayal now because he has moved up into my favorites, as have many of the others on the list. I want to write more for Vil (starting with the omegaverse fic hehe) and I definitely want to write for Lilia more often!!!! He has a lot of potential... >:)

Aaaaa otome au my beloved!!! I would love to ramble more and brain rot on it! There are so many routes it could go. >w< I hope to make it my next big project after DRU is complete. I just love the idea of a reader who is trying to survive romance rather than fall into it. Reader tries so hard to avoid every situation that may lead to blossoming feelings, hoping to be unlikable and boring enough to avoid raising the affection meters of the main cast. But seeing as Reader is the main character, that's just impossible. orz if Reader encounters more than three romantic events in a single day, they're shuddering and thinking it's an omen for something much worse (the inevitable confession or those horribly cliché moments where they're destined to accidentally kabedon a character or fall into his chest or (worst of all) have a heartfelt, touching moment that establishes a deeper connection).

I have so many ideas for comedic interactions and jokes. I want to make a meta joke at some point in my outline, in which Idia and Reader are talking about video games and reality and Idia says, "Wouldn't it be easier if everyone had likability meters? Then you could just avoid getting caught up in useless quick-time events if you know the people around you hate you." And Reader, without missing a beat, very bluntly says, "Trust me on this. You don't want that. It sucks." On paper, the idea sounds great. In execution... ;;;;; not so much.

Okay, first of all, I'm truly honored you think I could be a full time writer! I told my bff & coworker Emily, who is a professional copywriter, that you sent me this message and she basically told me to never become a full time writer because it sucks all the passion out of writing 😂

That being said, her job as a copywriter is a lot different than the job of like, a novelist or something, and I think writing books could be really fun! I know some fanfics get turned into novels, and that is a very exciting prospect for me, but I'm not sure how I would actually feel about that when it came down to it, or if it something I would want to do.

This year, one of my goals is to write a novel-length fanfic inspired by this idea.

I mostly write in second person, which is apparently not a very marketable perspective for books. One of my greatest joys about what I do here is that I am able to create a story that you all can fully immerse yourselves in and have a deeper connection to. The only reason I started writing in the first place is because I had such an overwhelming love for Malleus and Leona, I needed a medium to express that love through. If I were to actually write a novel length fanfiction that was successful enough to get picked up as a book, I'd have to change so many details to avoid copyright, and I'd have to choose an actual descriptive MC... If it came down to it, I don't know if I would turn down such an offer, but I would certainly have to think through all the pros and cons. The main goal of making profit off of this would be so that I could continue to write fics and pursue other artistic endeavors that would bring me endless joy and fulfillment in my life. Regretfully, I don't have any other book ideas besides things that are inspired by TWST, since MalleLeo occupy too much space in my brain to make room for OCs or other arcs.

Unfortunately, I feel like writing is a lot less profitable than art. I wish I could sell my fanfics in cute lil hardcover books in a similar vein to how artists sell keychains of their faves, but I don't even know if thats something people would want. It would be uncharted territory and D*sney would probably try to take me out.

Another concern is AI and the uncertainty of what the art industry is even going to look like in the next few years... I am lucky that AI writing is not currently very good, but who knows how that is going to change. Before I became a writer and started writing fics, I used to be a lot more concerned for my friend Emily's writing career. However, now that I truly understand what it means to write, I feel a bit more secure against the AI. Line by line, every word I choose to speak, every concept I choose to employ, every direction I send the story in is meticulously crafted... an Erica Original™️. The computers can steal my writing style, but they can't steal my thoughts and my brain... at least not yet (knock on wood). I mean, with writing, there are only so many combinations of words and phrases that you can use. What matters is now is how I, a human, choose to use them. Right now, AI just does what is predictable. I could have a tender moment happening one second, and choose to send Malleus flying off a cliff the next second—and I'd still create a cohesive story that kept y'all on the edges of your seat.

Last but not least, I am a Software Engineer, and I also have a mortgage... the mortgage makes it harder for me to take financial risks, and I would need to make close to how much I'm currently making in my job to feel comfy switching careers... 😅

I’ve Been Reincarnated Into The Male Lead!

Malleus Draconia x Gn!Reader - Isekai AU Based of this idea! (Basically just TWST boy getting reincarnated into the male lead and Y/N is the villainess) TWST boy chosen is Malleus! Before he gets reincarnated his name looks like this: Malleus. Also villainess is being used as a gender neutral term. Good? Good. (why is the banner I made so blurry 😭)

Malleus lived a somewhat ordinary life. Son of some successful business man, forced to live a life of isolation. He read a book: Curing The Crown Prince; the book featured a male lead with features that strangely resembled his own. Dark, almost black, hair with striking green eyes. Both grew up away from a lot of people, unfamiliar with lots of affection from others until later in life. Malleus imagined himself as the main character/male lead. The female lead was a healer, she saved his life after he was poisoned by his fiancé. The female lead is supposed to be his true love. How can she be his true love if she has no good personality? The female lead, Rosette Elrin, was said to be kind and courteous but she seemed strange. She had moments of horrible jealousy that were just said of her being protective of her new fiancé, Malleus Draconia: The Fae Crown Prince, the villainess’ ex-fiancé. Malleus preferred the villainess more, the prologue explained their relationship with the crown prince and they seemed to be a good character. Poisoning the prince didn’t fit with how they acted and Malleus couldn’t help but wish that they were the love interest instead. Nothing I can do about it now though…

He drags himself to bed to make himself stop fretting over a fictional character. Not like he could do anything to change how the story was written. Executed for attempted murder of the crown prince seemed somewhat reasonable. I guess it bothers me since it just didn’t seem like their character. With that thought, he drifted off to sleep.

Malleus was woken up by an unfamiliar voice. As he opened his eyes, the voice got quieter.

“Oh Malleus! I didn’t mean to wake you up.” The person’s looks seemed familiar but the voice was new. Wait….what in the world? Malleus reaches up to touch his head to confirm. Yup, there were horns coming out of his head. “Malleus, are you okay?” He whips his head around to look at the voice that woke him up. It was the villainess from the novel he read. I really am in the book….they’re so much prettier up close. Wait what!?

“Hey [Y/N], please go get Malleus a glass of water.” A second voice requests, it’s not much deeper but it’s definitely a guy. The eyes on the face that the new voice belongs to are magenta, the eyes narrows on Malleus’ sleepy form.

“Yes, Sir Lilia.” [Y/N] hurries out of the room. Then before Malleus can get a word out, a sword is at his neck.

“Now I don’t know who you are or why you look like Malleus, but I suggest you explain yourself.” Lilia’s blade is pressing harder into Malleus’ neck. I didn’t even say anything!

“Whattt? It’s me, Malleus!..” Lilia is not convinced and Malleus caves in. “It’s a bit strange to explain.”

“I don’t care how strange it is, I care how quick it is. Got it?” Lilia states, Malleus nods.

“Well...”

“Well…it’s not the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard.” Malleus wants to question that but he isn’t given a chance. “Now since you’re not really Malleus, I feel more comfortable saying this to you….I don’t like that you referred to [Y/N] as a villainess.” Malleus didn’t tell Lilia that he(Malleus) was supposed to get poisoned in the future. “But you better at least pretend to be nice to [Y/N], they would go to the sky and pick out the stars for you if you asked them to.” Then the person of the minute walks in.

“Oh, your ears must be burning.” Lilia jokes, “We were just talking about you.” The so-called villainess smiled.

“Nothing bad, I hope.” [Y/N] then turns to Malleus, “Here’s your water, I have to go, but I hope you feel better.”

“[Y/N]!”

“Coming Father!” As they leave, [Y/N] turns around and waves, Malleus wants them to say. Wants to keep seeing their smile.

“Looks like you won’t have to pretend.” Lilia comments.

“What?”

“Please, I’ve seen that expression on the Malleus’ face enough to know when he at least has a crush on someone. He used to make those same starry eyes at [Y/N] as well.” Lilia’s expression seems to sadden for a moment. “Now we have to work on making you a convincing prince.”

“Okay, Sir Lilia.”

“Drop the sir.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“But-”

“Just do it.”

“Okay...”

OMG RAVEN YOU’RE INTO EVER AFTER HIGH? I love it but can’t talk about it bc none of my friends have seen it 😭 I wish it was talked about more, especially with how deep their lore runs. I love EAH’s dynamics with the complexities of destiny. If twst followed the same logic as eah’s world it would be so interesting. How would you feel if the worlds were to mesh together and how it would work? You can interpret that in any way you want; the characters meeting or twst being bound to the same rules and societal expectations of eah, or whatnot.

Also who’s your favorite eah character compared to your favorite twst character (Leona)?Jade, right?

And have you read the eah books? I haven’t, but I’m going to try to sometime!

I'm still salty that the Monster High x Ever After High crossover movie never saw the light of day-- Part of the reason why I don't like Disney (I mean the faceless corpo, not all Disney products) is because they have such a strong association with fairy tales that it pushes other interpretations out of the market or it leads to people assuming Disney "owns" those fairy tales. Ever After High's lore and themes run so much deeper than most other fairy tale reimaginings I've seen (and I've seen a lot). It's such a shame it doesn't get the respect and recognition it deserves even though EAH is the one out here challenging the status quo whereas modern Disney is content with mediocrity that appeals to the masses.

I think EAH and TWST, at their cores, share similar ideas so combining them would work well. Friendship, self-identity, defining your own future, questioning what "good" and "evil" truly are... It's all there. I'd imagine that if Twisted Wonderland (or at least NRC) followed the same rules as EAH, then everyone would be descendants of their Disney counterparts. (This is actually a common misperception of what TWST was to new fans; people mistakenly believe the TWST characters are children of the classic Disney villains. This has never been canon.) Unfortunately, I'd have to take away the Disney villains being twisted to be "good" guys in Twisted Wonderland's world in order for this to work by EAH rules, so... There's that to consider. This, in turn, can result in the student body splitting into Royals (pro-following one's destiny) and Rebels (anti-following one's destiny). Perhaps RSA and NRC could be one school in this AU...? Just so we have a mix of "good" and "evil" descended children in the same vicinity as one another. A must-have are the constantly bickering Narrators!! It's only really when Yuu shows up that the majority opinion starts to shift. Maybe then Crowley becomes concerned with students rising up and fighting back against the system that relies on them being complacent to keep the cycle of stories going. I've seen some readings of EAH which theorize that Royals guaranteed a happy ending is a stand-in for privilege, and that interpretation leads into very interesting conflicts when we also consider that magic in Twisted Wonderland is a privilege afforded to few.

To cover just the dorm leaders (because covering all the TWST characters would make this post way longer), I definitely see Riddle, Kalim, Idia, and Malleus as Royals and Leona, Azul, and Vil as Rebels. Here's my thought process:

Riddle is pretty self-explanatory. He comes from a background where he's used to being told what to do by his mother and so he also heavily relies on her strict, unyielding teachings to play by the book when he goes out there in the real world. Riddle is inflexible and hesitant to go against the grain--and, more importantly, he fully believes that following the rules will lead to his happiness... that doing as his fairy tale ordains will lead to a happy ending. What happens to the Queen of Hearts is dubious in the end since it's framed as Alice's dream, so I think that vagueness gives Riddle hope that by behaving himself, he'll earn the happiness he desires.

Leona is a Rebel, and not just because that's the aesthetic of his dorm. Being that he is highly intelligent and demonstrates a lot of foresight, he'd be aware of what future is in store for him and aggressively fighting against that. It would make him more desperate than ever to prove his worth, because not only does everyone see his powers as terrifying, but they also see him as a future brother murderer and dictator that will bleed the land dry of resources. It'd make the situation with his family even more strained than it already is, not to mention the extra jealousy he must feel toward Cheka, who is still too young to understand what's going to happen later.

Azul is someone who acts like a Royal but is actually a Rebel. He acts polite and like he plays by the rules, but clearly he doesn't behind the scenes. I see Azul as the kind of Rebel akin to Duchess Swan... as in, he believes he can steal away someone else's destiny for himself. Azul would constantly be looking for loopholes to save himself. He's put way too much stock into becoming a better, stronger person and he'd want to defend this new life he has made for himself. His obsession with protecting his contracts could translate well here.

Kalim is a Royal because he's mega rich and has been sheltered from the concept of bad things that happen to normal people; he has nothing to worry about. It also helps that Kalim is twisted from a character that doesn't meet a bad ending. I think he'd be aware of Jami's doomed destiny, but Kalim is so ignorant that he thinks it'll just be fine and it'll work itself out. Part of his growth could be being forced to reckon with the reality that Jamil is suffering under the legacy assigned to him and accepting the role that he plays in that by not acting.

Idia is a Royal--or at least pre-book 6 Idia is. He's a very pessimistic guy and repeatedly expresses hopelessness about the future, bemoaning the curse he and his family have to bear. Idia doesn't want to try to fight his fate, he's already accepted that it will happen and so closes himself off from others to save himself that heartbreak. Post-book 6 Idia will have swapped over to the Rebel side thanks to Ortho reviving the hope in him.

Vil is a Rebel simply for the fact that he fights social conventions. He's already out here shattering gender roles, but finds it much harder to breach that expectation that villains are just villains and nothing more. Vil keeps getting rejected at every turn, told that it's impossible to rewrite his story, that his frustrations are the natural result of jealousy and an ugly heart that festers in side of him. He steels himself to prove that notion wrong, working himself to the bone to get up on that stage and stay on it, waiting to be lavished with praise that he truly is the fairest one of all. I feel this would be so fascinating for Vil's own arc about self acceptance; maybe he wears himself down emotionally because he HAS to basically be perfect due to his job but also denies himself normal feelings like anger and jealousy because confessing that you have such "ugly" feelings only validates that you're shallow just like the stories say you will be.

Malleus is a tough one, but I settled for Royal in the end. Maleficent is doomed to be slain by a sword, right? So am I saying that THE Malleus Draconia, who is infamously arrogant about his magical abilities, would lie down and take a stab like that? Of course not! However, I do think that Malleus is initially someone who values tradition and living up to noblesse oblige. As the future ruler of a nation, people's stories are relying on him to play his expected role out, which he'd be fully cognizant of. I also think Malleus would be afforded the luxury of not having to face his destiny as soon as his peers are due to his long life span. This is in part because the person destined to slay him doesn't come into his life for literally hundreds of years. Then when book 7 arrives, Malleus has to deal with his loved ones leaving and/or betraying him as well as the realization that this is his destiny: dying alone and unloved. That'd just break him.

EAH has so many good characters and interesting storylines, it's hard for me to pick a favorite! I of course love Apple and Raven's dilemmas, but I feel like it's cheating to pick one of them as my favorite. The whole Wonderland gang is also fantastic... I'm a sucker for their aesthetic, but they're so fun and silly in general. Kitty, Lizzie, and especially Madeline are 👌

Mmm, when I think long and hard about it, I think my favorite EAH character has to be Briar Beauty, daughter of Sleeping Beauty. Firstly, I love all the pink, roses, and bramble in her design. Secondly, I love the layers to why she is the way she is. Briar's a party girl not because "lmao, wouldn't that be a funny haha subversion of Sleeping Beauty" but because she wants to live life up before she falls asleep for 100 years and literally loses all her friends and family to the natural passage of time. That's seriously so smart and such an inventive way to think about the trauma a descendant of Sleeping Beauty might have. Seeing Briar transition from one of Apple's besties and biggest supporters to an outright rebel is satisfying as heck. (Gotta take a moment to shout out this classic moment :3)

I don't know if I would compare Briar to Jade since they're entirely different characters. However, looking at the source material, I'm actually surprised I like Briar as much as I do since I have never cared for the story of Sleeping Beauty. A part of me finds this ironic since Malleus harbors a similar fear as Briar (losing loved ones) yet I see Malleus's desire as way more selfish and self-serving than Briar's. I believe that's because Briar doesn't have the same arrogance as Malleus, so I'm more forgiving with her. EAH's actual equivalent to Malleus is Faybelle, daughter of the Dark Fairy, but I don't like her as much as I do Briar (hence why I'm comparing Malleus and Briar, not Malleus and Faybelle).

I haven't read the EAH books but I want to one day! I'd prefer to borrow them since I don't have enough space in my room for more physical books, so as soon as I find copies at a library or something...

summary: What if yuu wasn’t the first magicless student to come to NRC? Crowley sent the reader back to their home world a while ago despite their protests. Now they’ve finally managed to return, only to find out that things changed and they’d been replaced.

The surface of the mirror was bubbling, almost like boiling water in a pot. It looked as if there was something under the surface of the mirror struggling to get out, making ripples appear all over, almost as if the glass had turned into the sea itself. The floor length mirror took the appearance of an abyss, as the magic affecting the mirror was making it absorb light instead of reflecting it like a regular mirror should. Yet despite all this all was quiet, not even their breath being heard as they stepped through the mirror.

Initially, joy coursed through their veins upon recognising the famed mirror chamber. Even the slight disappointment upon seeing the lack of people in the room hadn’t managed to lower their spirits, if only they knew what was expecting them. They slowly made their way out of the room, traversing the dark hallways of the school, hoping to encounter anybody they might be at the very least acquainted with. Yet nobody appeared as they continued to venture deeper into the school. After a while of wandering around unsuccessfully they decided to go to the mirror chamber, hoping that searching the dorms would leave them with a satisfying result.

The walk back to the chamber was unpleasant due to the less-than-optimal circumstances. Despite not wishing to accept it negative thoughts were clouding their judgment, almost like whispers in their head, reminding them of the worst. Their footsteps resounded along the long and winding corridors, the quiet unbearable, as foul thoughts filled the silence. Perhaps they’d been gone too long, or maybe failed to reach the proper world. Whatever the truth was, they were currently blinded to it as insecurities took over their rationality.

Eventually the mirror chamber was within sight, making the pathways to the dorms visible. Even if it weren’t for their wish to venture to Diasomnia it was as if a force beyond their comprehension was calling them towards the dorm’s entrance. Due to its sheer size, they had to continue to walk before even nearing the actual castle inside of the dorm’s realm, the walkway was long which allowed for more negative thoughts to brew inside their mind. But the distant sound of chatter brought back some hope into their heart.

And so they quickly but quietly made their way into the Diasomnia dorm lounge, only to remain frozen upon lying eyes onto the sight in front of them. Confusion was evident on their features, yet they foolishly remained hopeful for perhaps they’d misunderstood. Maybe a chat with a friend would shed some light into the situation, Lilia always did know everything about any conceivable situation. They reluctantly made their way forward, joining the smaller fae’s side. There was no time to clarify the nature of the situation, as Malleus kissed “his child of man’s” hand while gazing into that person's eyes, the same way he had once done for them. He acted with this person, the same way he was with them, the one who'd been his beloved, now forgotten as he exchanged meaningful glances with the one known as Yuu.

All they could do was turn to Lilia and finally let the sadness in their heart show on their face and ask “How long was I gone?” The only response he uttered was much too heartbreaking for its literal meaning. “Too long.”

TWST Meta-Aware: Several Characters

I've always been really interested in this particular AU, but I really never got around to it because I get caught up in my angst. Well now I get to combine the two [unintentionally, the angst just sprung up from me] into this lovely work of mine.

Disclaimer: I am not the first person or the last to write in this AU with TWST. I am also not the originator of the idea, this is my own interpretation of the AU with the characters requested.

Whatever evil incarnate decided to create a horrendous system like gacha should burn by his dragon flames. Rate-ups? Percentile chances just for you to own his cards? It's preposterous

He enjoys being the one in your homescreen. He enjoys your touches, almost cooing into the feeling of you tapping his cheeks, purring when the touches are felt at his horns

He's sulking the moment you change the homescreen. What did he do wrong?

He doesn't go off-script. If any of the others caught on… it makes him angry just thinking about it

He has no idea when it comes to the code. He found a way to break his scripted lines once, but it's completely different from combining his magic and technology to permanently drag you into Twisted Wonderland

Riddle Rosehearts

He's having a crisis when he finds out. He's… fabricated?! Is he just a toy for you then?

It hit him then. The realisation of it all. He planned to confess after recovering from his Overblot, but when he tried to say any words, it was as if his mouth was glued shut

He's almost pissed every time he sees your player character. He wanted you, not the player that you hid by

Curiouser and curiouser… that was Riddle spending his time figuring out how to change his lines

Riddle hates the gacha with a passion. Why, his sweet YN… why would you risk it all for him? Can't you see him risking it all for you, with how much of his own cards he's ripping apart, just to get to you?

He manages to change his lines slightly. He's still in character! What Queen of Hearts wouldn't? When he's alone on the screen, he makes it more romantic, crushing the code that banned him before under his heel as he shows his kinder, romantic side to you

He's bringing you to Twisted Wonderland, especially after you stared at his homescreen sprite longingly, tears brimming at the corners of your eyes

Don't worry. He'll be there for you. He'll keep the farce of a dream around you when you're actually in Wonderland, as you fall deeper, and deeper into him…

Ace Trappola

He had to avoid you for a while. He needed to wrap his head around the fact that you were lying to him the whole time. He believed that the entire story was a lie to his heart and his feelings for you

With time, Ace realised that the value wasn't in besting Deuce in the fake scripts or taking centre stage in stories. It was about being chosen, by you

It was a cruel, twisted world he was in. Waiting to be your favourite, amongst the many, many characters and personalities. He stood out more than others for sure, since his prologue debut

His first act however, is spying on the husk that imitated your actions around them. He snuck in, seeing the truth of the unresting doll on your supposed bed

He pitied you even more, since this worthless doll was taking the life that you escaped to each night you logged in the game!

Through observing your doll character, he found a way to change his 2D Live animations slightly. Soon, he found a way to distort the pre-written script in the text lines. His final victory against this technology he didn't understand was the voiced lines, as he said whatever he wanted to you

One line of comfort from Ace warmed your heart, as you teared up behind the screen, sniffling words of thanks. Oh, you'd have so much to thank him for once you both meet, and he'd finally have the chance to hold you in his arms… so wait for this hero, won't you?

Deuce Spade

Deuce can't comprehend it. He's just entertainment for you? Competing with the other people in the school for your attention? Fine, he'll entertain this comparison game of yours!

It felt poisonous to say the scripts he never meant. Even in casual conversation, his program is designed to eventually leave you alone once you've chatted enough with him

He's delusional. He believes that you really love him once you've placed him on the holy pedestal of your homescreen

He's bitter at the gacha when his cards don't go to their rightful owner. How cruel of a system, denying what was rightfully yours

He has thoughts about leaving this world to go to yours instead. He has nothing to lose, the only thing he really has to lose is you if you ever decide the game too boring or difficult for you

He changes the script, even in the main story. He lost nights worth of sleep figuring out the stupid pattern, but now he can say whatever he wants to you, even during the main story

He enjoys the cards of his. He can show more of his charms, with the new outfits and voiced lines

It may take awhile, but he's willing to wait for you, so please… don't give up on him

Kalim Al-Asim

He isn't as devastated as you might think. He's more on the delusional side, believing your story since you both were literally worlds apart

He just had to find a way to bridge the two worlds and you both will have your happily ever after right?

He clings to the husk of a doll at night, dragging the doll to his bed as he cuddled against you each night, dreaming of what you would actually look like

One thing akin to the story is that Kalim often gets what he wants, and sure enough he gets the chance to change his line because of a little glitch in the game he might've planted

Only you get to hear the special lines from him, and no one else. Any other cards of the students are as stale as ever, but his… His cards were special

Through the glitch, he finally saw you. His eyes filled with need to hold you face to face with him, as he dreams of intertwining his hands in yours

Kalim has to figure out a way soon, before your eyes drift over to anyone else's cards. Soon, you'd be part of a whole new world with him… Just Kalim…

Idia Shroud

He shuts himself away the moment he realises what was truly going on. Fine, if the system really gets in his way then all he has to do is to break the system itself

He'll make a new one, it's alright. One where no stupid code twists his tongue around and controls him like the puppet he was in the story

He manages to rig the gacha system just for you, so that whatever you wish for gets sent to your inbox. He'll dress up just for you, no worries… Just, encourage him won't you?

He concluded early on that Twisted Wonderland was way better than yours. If it weren't… then explain why you confided in his homescreen with your deepest secrets as you cried, being comforted by his voiced lines?

He's so close… He really is. He experiments on the so called technology of the doll you disguise yourself as

Soon, he can hear your real voice and face through the doll with his modifications. He's elated, hugging the doll at night during his anxious episodes

He's nearing the end, at this point feeling your warmth through the doll. One more night, and you'd soon be in his world

Vil Schoenheit

He's horrified that all he dedicated his life for was a waste. Was his suffering a joke to you then, darling? If that's the case, you'll suffer right next to him, serving this envious Queen

He's desperate to find answers really. You don't see much appearance of him in the week, but after that… he's flaunting his all to you as a male peacock would to attract attention

He's not losing to the wretched potatoes who think they even have the slimmest of chances to stay on your homescreen. Why walk the runway when he can run the talking portion of your homescreen?

He gets up early to impress, no doubt. He's delighted whenever you receive a new card for him! It's his chance to dress up!

His plan starts slow, changing the intonations of his voice so that the lines are less cruel than they are meant to be… Then they start to get more comforting, and some borderline romantic

He takes care of the doll you disguise in everyday, even when you possess it. You just don't notice how he pampers you

Vil doesn't try to use or trample others. No one should know his true intentions but you, and he'll rightfully win you in his arms as compensation for the lies he had to live through

After starting the game you were met with your usual home screen. Lilia standing to the left and the menu to the right. What surprised you though was his unusual voiceline. “You seem to have a letter in your mailbox. Why not look what's written inside of it?” And look at that, he was right! There was no indication that it was there, almost as if the game didn't want you to notice. But nah, that could not be the case. As you continued to read through it you started to ask yourself if TWST was some sort of weird yandere dating simulator with horror themes.

ah! When I read your words I thought I had finally passed on and joined you in the world beyond the woven threats. That my fate would ever entail such a thing was something unimaginable for me no matter in which period. As always, you have the best character and story analysis. I agree about every word you said about Jack. I remember the first time I found out about twst, I read only Heartslabyul's story and I thought "What a childish story" and then months later when I read Savannaclaw for the first time my opinion remained the same. It was only in Octavinelle when I started to have more respect for the story telling. And Scarabia of course was the peak to me. Because it felt so realistic in the sense that now we know there is an issue with Kalim and Jamil's relationship and we know what the issue is but it just can't be solved that easily. They're both still searching for healthy ways to cope with an incredibly unfair situation. To express something so complicated. That's good writing. Which takes me back to how weak Savannaclaw and Heartslabyul's stories are in comparison. I even went as far as think that they were weak by design to make it seem like NRC itself is luring Yuu in....first by getting them involved in seemingly shallow issues and then the issues get deeper as Yuu begins to be more involved. You're right that Jack's character feels like wasted potential when it comes to Savannaclaw. Honestly, not just him. Almost every heartslabyul character had their potential wasted in Heartslabyul's story. Trey's incredible capacity for evil hidden behind the kind senpai facade. Cater's desire and ability to make someone do his work for him and his complicated feelings of loneliness beyond the cheerful facade. Deuce got a full on redemption arc in Book 5 when he finally hit puberty (Discovered His Unique Magic) and Ace got his own moment in the Phantom Bride event. If Heartslabyul's story didn't highlight it enough. Phantom Bride showed exactly how highly Ace thinks of himself and how he dares to do a lot of things others won't because it's okay for the main character to reprimand the villain and act all high and mighty with them (like he did with both Riddle and Eliza). I don't know yet what happens in Vargas Camp, but Ruggie was, as you've already pointed out, the Savannaclaw star of the show so I think we already got enough Ruggie to understand his character. I wish we'd also got a proper explanation why Jack's strong sense of justice was deactivated in Savannaclaw's story. He already said he idolized Leona. But maybe there was more to that than simple idolization. Also, maybe there's a trick to Jack's character that deactivates his sense of justice. Like, I have a strong sense of justice unless....

Last, i want to point out that even though he's one of the most popular characters and despite getting one of the best Overblot designs, Leona is one of the characters that weren't really done justice in the story. Savannaclaw's story was overall weak (Exactly like Lion King's story, not much creativity involved) and his supposed redemption arc in Fairy Gala wasn't that satisfying. The only thing I found out about Leona is that he's much more of an attention whore than he comes off as. But I wish we would go deeper into Leona's feelings of inferiority. Leona has a very good base for a very interesting and complicated character. He feels inferior, yet he loves to act superior. He always trash talks his nephew but in a "blink and you'll miss it" moment, he showed concerns for his safety. He made it look like he only helped Yuu in Octavinelle's story because he was scared of them making noise outside his bedroom and because he had issues with Azul of course. But this is Leona, he could scare Yuu and Grim off amd not have them make noise if he wanted to. Azul may have held something against him, but Azul was a brilliant strategist, he wouldn't risk Leona's wrath. Leona helped Yuu because he wanted to help Yuu. Finishing his troubles with Azul was only a bonus. Or that's how I saw it. Anyways, I think Leona is a very fascinating character who's yet to get his moment to shine. I started out TWST all over Vil, but now that Book 5 is over. I think Leona grew on me more. And I wonder if what Azul held over him was the potion Ruggie drank at the Magift Tournament or was it something else. It actually felt that Leona's contract held a shameful secret that he wouldn't want revealed. But it could be me reading too much into it. After all he could have just been concerned about word getting out, he hurt some of his colleaugues and intended to hurt others as well. He's a prince after all. One thing I've been interested in as well, was relationship dynamics in Sunset Savannah and how women are more dominant and physically stronger. Imagine this but Leona is maybe concerned about being a useless prince consort to a woman he doesn't care for. Adding more to his tragedy of never being king, yet not free from royal obligations.

Sorry for the long rant. It's just there's not many people in the twst fandom I feel like I can share my thoughts with easily. But I love your thought process and I like sharing my thoughts with you and your followers.

The whole time I was reading this i though I'd posted the entirety of my take on Savanaclaw and how to fix it...

Like, near word for word, bar for bar from how I felt about Jack and Leona, using Scarabia, Heartslabyul, and the other dorm characters compared to the Savanaclaw trio. Especially the useless conort who gets washed away by the sands of time, barely remembered. Because second heirs are never free from Royal obligations, hell, they even have to overpreform in place of their sibling so Leona was right to say "you shouldn't give this rug to me, give it to a neighboring kingdom as a symbol of friendship" bc second heirs end up prone to more public scrutiny.

And you're right! Ruggie does get more characterization than Leona and Jack do, Leona is someone you have to read in between to get him which makes sense because he's spent the past 20 years of his life playing second fiddle and spare heir to his brother and he can't even be a spare heir because he has a nephew (who loves him very much)

Heartslabyul is a solid chapter especially when you have the Prologue leading into it makes it better. But I do think it focused on the first years rather than Riddle, Trey, and Cater, two of which have more characterization in Savanaclaw (later chapters too) and one of which you have to read personal stories and events to understand..

The thing is, Savanaclaw is based off of one of the most iconic movies ever, with a broadway show grossing 9 billion and making 1.6 mil a week, a. Week. Not to mention the Lion King topped Jurassic Park in 1994 and was the highest grossing film of that time, people think of iconic Disney movies and you best believe Lion King is up there no doubt.

Which is why I'm still trying to figure out how that bag was fumbled. There are so many directions you could've went with Leona in terms of being a "what if" Scar, especially if they played up the love Cheka has for his Uncle, how bout Cheka visiting the Dorm because he's one of the vip guests who are vetting out Magift players (bc Leona does say that Magift is the biggest sport in Twst and that winning means career options, scholarships, internships)

Bc in one of his Vignettes/ Personal Story the students do come to him when they need a problem solves bc he's well liked, why not use that as a way for him to infiltrate dorms? Especially if he's trying to pin the blame on Diasomnia. I'm sure they have friends, albeit a small group of them, and I'm sure there are Beastmen/Human/Mermen in Diasomnia.

Not to mention, bc he oversees Magift Practice, he should've definitely got into the "why" of his players getting harmed considering this could throw the Investigation squad off his tail.

Leona is literally stated to play chess by himself and is a top student at NRC, who, despite wanting to not be bothered with anything, is charismatic and pragmatic enough to have students rely on him (kinda like Trey) and you're gonna tell me he couldn't've pulled the wool over the Investigation Squad at least 10x over? At least?

This is SCAR we're talking about. Ursula swindled one girl, The Queen of Hearts got bullied by one girl and chased her back awake, Jafar is the only one I can see competing with Scar because he snatched up a genie, manipulated the Sultan had Jasmine and Aladdin on their knees so yeah... The Evil Queen is barely memorable (to me) it's the poison apple and Snow Whute that beat her out her own movie. Maleficent goes crazy, so a pass.

Jack, what Yana did to Jack is one thing I cannot forgive. Because he's the one character that's not apart of the Disney ensemble making him a whole clean slate, an Original Character, an OC if you will. White Fang starts off with sled dogs getting picked off, one by one, and a man fearing for his life because it's the Wild that runs the show, he's just living in it.

The thing about White Fang is that he was abused by his previous owner and through patience and compassion he became domesticated, protecting the protagonist's father when a criminal ran up, vowing to protect the protagonist's bloodline with his life. Idk how you get justice out of that entire book, but Jack protecting the weak does fall in line with White Fang's character arc.

Jack's justice and subsequent boldness that I mentioned in another post being turned off in the face of Leona's might and Overblot could've made sense, here's why:

Jack admires Leona, he grew up watching his Tournaments (implying Leona's been doing Magift on the side for a couple years, NRC just scooped him up) being assigned the same dorm as his idol was probably the greatest moment of his life (Vil and Leona are two sides of the same coin actually) so I can get behind him believing he knows his Dorm Leader as much as he does, enough to reprimand him in an effort to show him the right path.

Thing is, Jack doesn't know Leona like he thinks he does, and Farena doesn't know Leona as much as he thinks he does (I'd even argue that he was separated from Leona because of how dangerous his UM was, doesn't help that they're born a decade apart)

So they both come off tone deaf even when they're trying to be well meaning, Jack more so since he's a first year who beefed with his dorm because they were doing something that didn't align with his values.

I wanna reiterate that Jack is a bold person when he believes he's in the right.

Liek he walks right up to the tweels, demands they show him the contents of their suitcase and doesn't even wait for them to do that (they weren't, they were going to fight him) and still snatches the suitcase out of their hands. Leona and Jack's entire dynamic was formed through him beefing with his seniors, Jack fought Deuce because he though Yuu was a coward.

But I can get behind Jack not wanting to truly fight his Dorm Leader because 1: he admires him. 2: he knows the power Leona holds.

Idk if yall know but Leona's UM, King's Roar can turn anything into sand, people, objects, and PLACES fucking PLACES INTO SAND ARE U FUCKING KIDDING ME??????

And it isn't like he needed to learn how use this ability like Riddle (who holds the record for developing a UM at 10) or Azul (whose UM is literally a forbidden art that needed to be honed) no. No. This man was just born with it. BORN WITH IT. Evicted straight out the womb with violence on the brain.

Jack wouldn't touch Leona with a ten foot pole bc the pole would be a clump of sand by then. Because before he's bold, before Justice, there's still the basic instinct to live after watching someone you believe is your vice dorm leader get strangled and the skin of his neck turn to sand to a point where you have to fight Leona off.

So I can get behind being afraid, since I'd like to reiterate that Jack was alone when he spoke up against Leona and Ruggie, you really think he could take them?
