HEHE HAIHAI SMOOCHES ITS ME ANON WHO CANT STOP THINKING ABT FAILURE AND DELTA SEGMENTS SINCE U ASKED SO NICELY U SHALL RECIEVE MORE BRAINROTS thud time a cute little imagine? scenario? (i have no idea hut we roll) with failure segment

Since this segment doesn’t acknowledge anyone other than fragile!reader (and prime i think) i imagine that when the agents are assigned with tasks related to this segment, they feel immense reluctance.. but worry not! fragile!reader to the rescue!

Imagine one of the times where reader is sat on his table, trapped between his arms as he stares at them (this is a regular occurrence atp), an unlucky fatui agent assigned to retrieve something from this segments’ office comes in and asks for said thing, they get ignored as usual, so fragile! reader, being the kind and gentle soul they are take it upon themselves to help them, since theyre the only person this segment would willingly listen to without facing any difficulties.

So the reader repeats the agents’ question but less nervously and in a more softer tone, they stroke his cheeks with their thumbs as he gets lost in the soft glint in their eyes, and almost as if hypnotised, he nods along to the sound of their lovely voice and in a voice so low he answers the reader, then points to the direction of said object the agent was assigned to get. The agent takes it and walks off (almost darts out tbh), and reader just kisses the segment as thank you, i imagine he keeps his half lidded eyes open whenever fragile!reader presses their lips against his, but just for a couple of seconds, i like to think he mainly does this to memorize the feeling of the moment, how soft their lips feel, the way you look so content kissing him, the feeling of your hands on his cheeks (how they’re no longer as cold as he remembers them to be when you were in a comatose state), the feeling of yearning and love in his chest, etc.

And only then does he closes his eyes shut to enjoy the moment even more.

And then when you try to pull away, he doesn’t let you. He lightly places a hand under your chin and a hand on the back of your neck and pulls you back for a peck, a peck turns into two, then he goes in for thirds and fourths and its like he can’t get enough of the sweet taste of your lips (honestly none of the segments nor Dottore himself can get enough). I know it was stated that this segment doesnt initiate physical affection since he’s content with watching you go about your day from afar, but i like to imagine that although occasionally, he sometimes reciprocates double the affection you give him, its like he’s lost control of his own movements and moves in a trance. And then reader can’t take anymore because of how flustered and breathless they feel and immediately bury their face in the crook of his neck, with their arms wrapped tight around him as he sigh in contentment.

Their face burns even more when he absentmindedly murmurs in that voice of his about the feel of their lips as if he was documenting checkup results so close to their ear.

(x) Although being asked to speak to any of the segments is a challenging task for the average person, Zeta is a special case. Each segment is unique in their own way, perhaps loud and crazy, or calm yet intimidating, but at least they can communicate with their underlings. Zeta, on the other hand, has very little contact with the regular Fatuis, only capable of working in solitude considering his state of mind. Most agents are forced to return empty-handed and instead fetch another segment to help. He's not seen very often either - it's either Prime's office, his office, the hallways to and from, and maybe his room. So Zeta certainly isn't a segment one would want to deal with, especially since his ticks and likes are vastly unknown to the general Fatui... (the handbook is severely lacking in this area...)

But despite the air around Zeta, you weren't scared off in the slightest, and of course, found yourself snuggling with him in due time. His general demeanor was far different from the other segments but that wasn't an issue, you found it endearing but also quite sad at how gently he treated you as if you were glass that was just about to break... you wanted to try and show him how you were still stronger than that! (Despite your frail health.)

You didn't expect helping him with his job to be part of spending time with him, but you're not mad. Rather, you find it a bit cute how he's willing to listen and indulge your wishes. (The handbook definitely has a rule like - [Name] 100% has magic powers. Definitely an angel bestowed upon us.) Meanwhile, Zeta has no issue with this, in fact, he finds it reminiscent of all the times you used to ask favors from him, when you used to rely on him for anything and everything. So now that finally you're awake, alive, smiling, he wants you to rely on him again. (Though he does find it a bit annoying how nice you are to these agents, he'd prefer to help you with your own requests...)

You can never really predict when Zeta will have one of those days when he needs to kiss you all over, and although it catches you off guard you will never not reciprocate. You know how long he's had to watch you be motionless, and you need to make up for that time. It's also kind of funny because while all the other segments fluster you on purpose, Zeta doesn't realize it sometimes.

He got ate one day, completely out of the blue, and went to Janine about it later. She just laughed and told him he’s officially be adopted into the idiot squad.

Speaking of Janine, she’s the only one spared from the constant random noms in the firehouse. Not because shes a full Pred or anything but because they’re afraid of her.

The Gho/stbus/ters might not fear ghosts, but they do fear their dear friend and secretary Janine.

She’s got a shot glass of cocktail swords and toothpicks she wields and wields well when small

Has stabbed Peter on multiple occasions for almost setting his hand on her while she was small

Egon is a Pred lean for science, although not against being ate so long as he’s warned and willing

Ray falls to the prey side but is pretty center. Can and has eaten the others

Winston leans Pred, HOWEVER poor dude was stuck getting ate for the first few months after joining the crew

Dana and Janine talk about how stupid they are all the time after work. They think it’s the funniest thing in the world. The boys? Not so much.

I've only got a couple, and they're pretty Dalia centric, but you can have em

Dalia picked up a bunch of tips and tricks for dealing with kids both from helping raise her siblings and from treating kids as a nurse, uses them all the time, her personal favorite thay she's picked up is doubling bedsheets when kids are sick so that if they get dirty you can just take it off and make it a later problem while you comfort said sick child. Dalia is also very sentimental as a parent, cries at every ceremony and graduation. Sometimes she'll say something that sounds like her mother and she goes quiet for a while after that. I have a feeling that Sabrina and Dalia's house tends to be the designated 'safe house' for Vee and Jasper's friends. Dalia's actually kind of happy about this, in her mind it's confirmation that she's not her mother. (This may or may not be based on the fact that my house irl is the safehouse). All I have rn, sorry

Next up Nyx, my boy. He feels like a walking second place trophy compared to all his siblings. Brushes it off in an Rottmnt Leo sort of way, through humor and a facade of confidence. Desperately wants anyone to be proud of him. Takes his little siblings out crimeing™️ together sometimes, and is like the number one supporter of their shenanigans. Let's them steal his shit, as long as they don't get caught(bc he taught them better than that). The only thing he'd put up a fight against having stolen is his binder, but that's about it.

Oh and Onyx is the one with an ED, she has anorexia specifically. It started with her just trying to lose weight, she's fairly light, but her frame is wide, so she didn't see any results and things got drastic from there, especially when people started making fun of her for her body. She's super sensitive to comments about her body, and the bullying just made it so much worse. She hates looking at herself, in mirrors, in pictures, anything. It's like her eyes pick out the flaws every time and she can't stand it. So she's trying to 'fix' herself, much to the worry of the people around her. She eats in the dream bubbles, but that's only because she knows that it isn't real. Harlow noticed this and has started sneaking food into the dream bubbles just so Onyx eats for once. Onyx still hasn't caught onto this.

Gray has a lot of little interests she keeps hidden. They tend to be niche and geeky, so she hides them to protect her image

Onyx is only ever quiet when she's flustered or thinking about somthing, other than that there's usually at least a dull chatter coming from her

Onyx is very physically affectionate, she straight up tackle hugs people.

Gray was a pageant kid,and his parents were very competitive about it. They still have all their sashes from it too

Onyx doesn't fight for herself, but if you say something bad about someone she cares about that's when she starts a fight. Starting fights like that is what got her thrown through a window that one time

Onyx is the one who started calling Alison peepaw, and it just stuck after that

When Alison sleeps she doesn't snore, she shuffles through radio channels under her breath, kind of like sleeptalking

Speaking of Alison, he's insecure about the radio affect his voice has

mr is mwy’s little brother who he gave a job in his company bc their uncle xzy told him to be nice for once 🙄 and mwy was like fine 🙄 but mr has been doing well and ends up cwn’s subordinate WHICH MAKES MWY SOO BITTER LMFAO

mwy would be such a condescending older brother lol but he’s probably bragged to mr abt the hot guy hes pursuing (cwn) so mr now can shoot back that HES the one cwn spends all his time with since they work together :) which mwy is SO jealous of lol.

mwy also tried to offer cwn a promotion to be his secretary so he can have him around him at all times but cwn rejected him incredulously bc “absolutely not???? im overqualified for that what nonsense are you spouting” so hes still pissed he doesnt get to usually see cwn cuz cwn isnt in the board of directors and just a lower rung manager.

so mwy will go down to the floor cwn and mr work at as a barely disguised way to be around him more, but it mostly results in him and mr making faces at each other and bickering and fighting to get cwn pastries from the break room.

the rest of the workers are absolutely ????? at how NOT intimidating their scary ceo mwy is on their floor and get used to seeing him scolded by cwn to stop disturbing them and sulking in a corner with metaphorical dog ears drooping.

meanwhile mr is cwn’s super eager subordinate, think smth like 0.25 mr who thinks cwn is super cool and pretty and loves him totally 💗 and he keeps trying to ask out cwn and get his attention but cwn always thinks its just for work (which mr finds super cute… hes right)

cwn on the other hand 💗💗💗 he was into mwy when they were students but mwy hated his guts (think 0.5-1.0 mo ran) and was always quite mean to him bc he was so cold towards him (to cover up his crush) and they had a lot of friction so he still thinks mwy hates him now… lmfao.

cwn always admired mwy’s natural charisma and confidence so when he found out he was the ceo of the company he ended up working at (that xzy recommended) he was like.. Oh… well that checks out tbh.

what he didnt expect tho was for mwy to come down to his office so often…??? and always ask him things??? so cwn thought mwy was trying to size him up and catch him being bad at his job/ distracted and use it to fire him so he would often ignore mwy (much to mwy’s chagrin)

(BTW for the ages.. im not sure abt the exacts but mwy and cwn are like the same age at their early thirties ig (31? 32?) and are bachelors. and mr is like, somewhere in his twenties lol. i havent rly decided. but hes not like intern-level, hes a fulltimer. also i have NOT decided abt their family situation and how dyh and (spoiler) managed to fuck twice so she has both mwy and mr at different times... but dont worry abt it hahaha... i just want older brother mwy and younger brother mr catfighting)

Queendom Puzzle ep.7&8 (opinion)

i know ep. 9 is coming out in just a couple of days on viki but just wanted to put out some thoughts about the last episode(s) before that comes out

SPOILER ALERT

there wasn't any like performances in this and it was just like commentary of past performances and episodes

it was cool to see some of the members' faces again before they got eliminated like sangah, seoyeon, chaerin, jooe, and soeun *tears

about the eliminations, here are my thoughts about each member:

sangah: i was so shook that she was eliminated... and the fact that lightsum hasn't had a comeback in a long time especially after the maknae members left i'm quite worried about her future. i hope cube does her a bit better cuz she's got so much talent and her stage presence/facials are soo good. def gonna keep an eye out for her

seoyeon: ik she was out in a lot in the more recent episodes so she didn't get much screentime... i'm not surprised she got eliminated but she's got a lot of talent for being the newest rookie group on the show. def gonna keep looking out for tripleS content

chaerin: i didn't focus on her too much in the show tbh. i feel like she was buried under the other cherry bullet members... she did well in all of her performances but i never saw her as a standout which is unfortunate... cherry bullet songs are pretty good tho so i'll still keep an eye out for the group as a whole, idk abt her individually tho.

jooe: i feel like ever since momoland's downfall, she hasn't been doing too well... she was her own manager during this entire show since she wasn't under any agency. she did the best she could... i haven't been keeping up with jooe but i saw her on jtbc's second world show (was watching for moonbyul) and i was shook when she was on there cuz i didn't know she was a rapper in momoland... either way, i don't think i'll actively keep up with her future content.

soeun: her only one performance was soo good and the dance battle stuff she really slayed. i lowkey fell for her as the show progressed not as hard as some other members but still. i am definitely gonna keep up with weeekly content after this especially since all the other weeekly members also are members i now have fallen for.

ep7: i wasn't completely shook at the results but i'm so sad that the queen team basically had no chance of winning since these votes are so heavily popularity based...

I'm south asian and it infuriates me that I actually like the sumeru characters 😭 I feel like I'm betraying my own identity and it genuinely pains me to think abt their designs for too long

Tighnari is the worst for me bc he became my favorite character in the whole game personality-of and I've grown to love his design because of it but???? I just feel so guilty for it bc I know it's just not. Correct???? And on top of that the english voice actors being told to pronounce the characters names wrong deliberately to make it easier is just so gross ughhhh. And I feel like I'm a bad person for continuing to play the game and indirectly supporting hyv's colorism as a result but I'm so attached to this game and these characters and im :'(((

omg bro don’t worry at all askdbdjdb ur absolutely allowed to enjoy the game, that’s exactly why we play it in the first place right🥺 like sure genshin gets a lot of stuff wrong but there’s also a lot that it does beautifully e.g. the entire world building in sumeru and the environment design is one of my favourites in the whole game !! for me, i just have lower tolerance and can’t stand hyv’s colourism as well as orientalism

but like… as long as you can acknowledge that the issues exists and don’t pretend like sumeru is just some cutesy exotic place (as i’ve seen a lot of people do 😭) it’s really honestly fine imo

like i agree that tighnari has a very interesting personality, also i’ve seen a lot of people complain abt his design but honestly i think the amazigh inspiration is one of the most obvious in the game and think it’s so wonderful that amazigh people get to be represented through such a cool character🥺 not to mention how much i myself learned abt all these cultures that are usually never talked about in other media, it’s really really cool !!! i also think his design in general is actually very pretty lol i really adore the mesh of colours and how it’s an obvious reference to amazigh clothing,

there’s really no correct and incorrect way to think about it because everything is so meshed together and weirdly structured, we can definitely agree that the colourism and orientalism is very much an issue (as seen with dori and nahida mostly), treating many brown cultures as interchangeable is also really annoying in general because of how much it already has been done in mainstream western media and the effect it already has is amplified, (abt the english translation i don’t even play in english because 💀 i never liked how they translated stuff in general to english tbh even before sumeru)

but at the same time, hyv brought light to so so many under represented cultures and stories, even the music !!! them using actual instruments we hear in our own music like the sitar is so amazing !!!!

don’t feel bad at all for enjoying the game, i always play it to destress and will continue in the future, it’s not like the company will ever listen to complaints or critisisms by boycotting the game anyways so there’s rly no point and u might as well enjoy what u like yknow😭 i only rly have a bone to pick when people are able to just . mindlessly enjoy the game as if it doesn’t have valid issues (which clearly does not apply to you hdfjbdkdf)

i talk too much but also i just wanna mention that… as a southasian the colourism bothers me the most but i feel like a lot of my disappointment in sumeru mostly comes from an aesthetics pov😭 i think in general i just had a different vision for the type of characters we’d be seeing, seeing cultural references in clothing has always w spiked specific joy in me because the history behind all the clothing just makes everything feel much more real and impactful ??? whereas other then tighnari, nilou, kind of layla, candace and maybe cyno (i haven’t read much on his design) everything just looks as if it’s been inspired by some generic anime rpg isekai fantasy game🥲 like kaveh, nahida, dori etc etc ,,, so rather then sumeru being ‘wrong’ moreso what hurts me is the potential is what it could’ve been ?? i think that’s why it bothers me when everyone gets so excited abt kaveh’s design or whatever when i’m just here like wow… another blonde white boy with a feather in his hair 😭😭😭😭 they can use sanskrit language and panipuri as food but not have the southasian inspired archon with hindu motifs wear cultural clothing or have even slightly darker skin as a lot of southasian people do 🤨 ok this is just me venting again LOL but basically . don’t stress at all it’s really really fine to like the characters you do (i can’t support positive opinions abt nahida and dori tho MDBSKXND i may be petty) but u Defo don’t have to feel guilty abt enjoying the game 🥺 most of sumeru characters aren’t even southasian so you’re not betraying ur identity at all !! merely enjoying new cultures :’) just make sure to remain critical and be observant of how the people of those cultures being shown feel abt these things and don’t let your opinions be dictated by whether it’s ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ often times in these situations it’s never that clear cut 😭

ok like major major major trigger warning for below the cut for suicide and self harm but i liek really need advice

so basically i had a really rough start to college ans on the 18th when my parents left me alone at college i was miserable the whole day bc i couldnt make any friends and felt so alone and as a result i relapsed into self harm and cut myself with a razor.

I regretted it by the next day and that afternoon I had a therapy session over zoom with my therapist and told her. she was proud of me for telling her but she seemed kinda rattled, which i thought was weird bc we’ve talked abt my self harm before. the rest of that day wasnt great, still pretty lonely and i sort of panicked over future jobs and majors

the next day, tuesday the 20th, i started classes and i legitimately met some very nice ppl and enjoyed my classes. but rhen when classes were done i spent more time panicking over jobs and started to have this sinking feeling that i am not capable of the basic taska necessary to live on my own or in the world at all. I went to dinner and couldn’t find anyone to sit with so i ate entirely alone and walked back to my dorm room trying not to cry. i burst into tears as soon as i got in and just spiraled and cried over everything, friends, loneliness, and how i felt i wasnt capable of holding a good job or taking care of myself. at which point i started having a massive nosebleed and alone in my dorm room, with blood all over my face, I decided that i should kill myself. as dumb as it sounds, i started googling methods and decided that hanging was the best option. unfortunately/fortunately, i didnt have rope so i took my belt but i could find a place to hang it from that was stable oelr wasnt obvious (ie over the opposite side door handle) but the article i read said rhat all you really needed to hang yourself was leverage, and that holding the belt end thats pulled far above your head would still work. i did that for about 30 seconds, before the tightening arouns my throat started to kinda panic me and i stopped. i tried again but then about 40 seconds in i remembwred that my school has tuition insurance that allows you to not have to continue to pay tuition if an emergency causes you to drop out and that my parents and i had not bought it and as a result if i did die, my parents would have to continue paying tuition (we split tuition but they are in control of most of the money i’ve made cause tbh thats just way easier). the idea of my parents continuing to have to pay tuition kinda pulled me back to earth and i resolved to call my therapist.

unfortunately, ar like that exact moment, one of my suitemates went into oue shared bathroom (you can heat everything in the suite regardless of where you are, its two rooms connected by a bathroom and the noise travels really far). so then i was feaking out cause i couldnt call her because my suitemates wojld hear. i couldnt go somewhere else to call either bc my face was still covered in blood and puffy and swollen from crying for like an hour straight. so then i started crying more bc i didnt know what to do. also then i looked at the clock i realized i had to go to lipsync practice (its a part of our welcome week) and 9 pm and tbh almost started laughing at the absurdity of having to go to fucking lip sync. i desperately wanted to skip and hide forever but i didnt. I waited for my suitemate yo leave the bathroom cleaned myself up and went to lipsync practice.

i came back home after practice and cried more about everything (i had a ton of trouble falling asleep bc my face hurt so much from crying which then made me cry more etc etc). up until this point i had fully intended to call and tell my therapist, honesty between me, her and my parenrs has been massively helpful in my mental health, but then i started to panic bc i remembered that forced paychiatric holds exist ans i was rwally worries that if i told her, i’d have to go to a psych ward, which would be especially bad cause then we are back to the tuition insurance problem that saved my life a little bit.

i finally managed to sleep eventually and throughout the week i took my meds consistently, i made friends and overall felt a lot better. 2 days ago was rhe 29th and i told my parents over a phone call. Im glad i did, but i havent had a therapy seasion since before the attempt so i hadn’t told my therapist yet, and i told my parents i was worried abt hospitalization and they said they didnt think that would happen, but that it might be good.

Its the 31st now and i have therapy this week. i’ve been up all night panicking that my therapist will have to report it and i’ll get put into in patient treatment. i’ve been researching non stop but i cant find an answer on whether aborted suicide attempts within the last two weeks are grounds for hospitalization. i have not been actively suicidal since the day of my attempt and was only passively suicidal like once in befween then and now (which like i have had on and off passive suicidality throughout highschool, just not really in the past year).

SO BASICALLY! i really just need advice on whether i should tell my therapist, have my parents tell her or keep quite about it? could tell her lead to me being hospitalized or would it be okay bc im not presently a danger to myself and i stopped anyway.

Hello there! Thank you for sharing so much amazing information abt Dracula! Tbh your posts are making me nostalgic for literature classes, and that is HIGH praise coming from me (points to blog title).

Anyway, I'm really grappling with Jack Seward's character right now as I (re)read ahead in Dracula. I like him a lot, especially early on, but his treatment of Renfield is, shall we say, not quite up to the ethical standards of the modern day, and the way Jack talks about him gets uhhh, pretty fuckin uncomfy, as I know you're aware ("pet lunatic," indeed)!

In this vein, I'm curious to know more about the history of psychiatry at the time, both the actual practice and the public perception thereof, so I can begin to tease out how much of his behavior was accepted practice, vs how much was Bram Stoker's PERCEPTION of accepted practice, vs how much was, in fact, intended to not look Super Great to contemporary readers (and thus, among other things, contribute to the hints at Jack's own possible mental deterioration, as well as to his rather overly "cerebral" personality).

As far as I can tell, this is something you've studied in some depth, so I was wondering if you could recommend any resources? Preferably free or easily accessible ones, since I don't have logins for any academic institutions or anything.

Please feel free to take your time answering this btw, I know it might be a tall order and I can be patient! I also understand if you just don't have time or energy, so no worries if you can't get to it.

Answering this somewhat late, as I have--in fact--had a lot of things draining my time and energy. As always, I'll open with a caveat that it's been a while since Dracula was my primary research topic, so new and exciting insights into Jack Seward may have cropped up since I was last writing about him.

I by no means have a comprehensive understanding of nineteenth-century psychiatry, although combing my tags and my website will turn up some of the specific research I did for little details concerning Dracula (I discussed things a little bit here) . However, I will say that one of the better hints--in my opinion--as to Stoker's intentions for Seward and his perceptions of medical ethics is the extent to which Seward (and later Van Helsing) parrot statements made by Bram Stoker's brother William Thornley Stoker, who was--among other things--a brain surgeon, a visiting physician at St. Patrick's Hospital (a public asylum) in Dublin, and the inspector for Ireland under the vivisection act. There are elements of Dracula pretty clearly lifted from Thornley's articles, and without spoiling too much, R. M. Renfield appears to have had several elements of his character borrowed from an actual case study on one of Thornley's patients (available here, but be warned it has a major spoiler for later events).

We have every indication that Stoker was on good terms with Thornley and respected his medical knowledge (Thornley provided Stoker with notes as to medical procedures in the text), and I feel the choicest bit of Thornleyism we get in the text is a later moment where Seward, in what strikes me as an absolutely chilling passage, compares is plans for Renfield to vivisectionist experiments:

It would almost be worth while to complete the experiment. It might be done if there were only a sufficient cause. Men sneered at vivisection, and yet look at its results to-day! Why not advance science in its most difficult and vital aspect – the knowledge of the brain? Had I even the secret of one such mind – did I hold the key to the fancy of even one lunatic – I might advance my own branch of science to a pitch compared with which Burdon-Sanderson's physiology or Ferrier's brain-knowledge would be as nothing. If only there were a sufficient cause!

This echoes Thornley's pro-vivisectionist sentiments in the aforementioned case study, where he says:

To what, I ask, do I owe the knowledge on which this judgement was founded? Largely to the humane and benevolent investigationsof those biologist who weak, credulous, or mistaken people are actively pelting with the verbal filth of prejudice and ignorance--people who would prefer that this man, formed the image of his Maker, should die, rather than their feeble sentiment be offended by a painless experiment on an ape.

HOWEVER, it is also worth noting here that both Seward and Thornley specify the necessity of an overriding cause, and it is highly debatable whether Seward has one. Thornley elsewhere in his writing takes an anti-vivisectionist stance when it comes to procedures he deems to be unnecessary:

"[…] the arguments of want of necessity and cruelty apply to most, or all, of the experiments in illustration of lectures. Such demonstrations cannot but be demoralising to the young men and women who witness their performance. They seem to me an offense against humanity. (from this 1907 report)

The big question I have here, to my mind, is whether we should read Seward's treatment of Renfield as having "a sufficient cause," and I think how you answer this question will inform your understanding as to where Stoker probably stood with regards to Jack's ethics as a character and whether he intended us to read Jack as unnerving (although, as any 21st century literary scholar, I must offer a quick nod to the author being dead and Jack's creepiness not being contingent on Stoker's intentions for him).

If you want to take a deep dive into the sources with which I was most familiar back when I was fiddling with this argument and penning my unified theory of Seward, Renfield, and Dracula, I will link to my own masters thesis on the matter, which should have a pretty decent biography with regards to the works I consulted when I last really thought through this conundrum.

dad was a club owner/sound engineer (with a lame, not super worth mentioning past in a band), so daesung was super exposed to music in his adolescence, esp. rock music -> naturally started dreaming abt becoming a rockstar

dad supported this aspiration, mom not so much??? she watched her husband aspire and fall short of his dreams, didn't really want daesung wasting time doing the same shit which she didn't hesitate to tell him in softer terms, but daesung is nothing if not stubborn

dad suddenly passed away in 2008, which left the family in a rough spot mentally and financially considering daesung's mom is a hairdresser who at that time still hadn't been able to open her own salon ^^ rather than seeking comfort in each other, daesung & his mom drifted apart and never fully got back to where they were before

this is sorta where daesung's escapist tendencies started??? always looking for a distraction, went through a period where he got into many many many fights and was doing drastic things for attention but eventually returned to using music as an outlet -- got into other genres, started learning how to dance

ended up signing to GOLDEN T in 2013, was pretty much immediately thrown into a competition show that he wasn't ready for and was torn to shreds by viewers/judges alike... still ended up debuting 'cause he learned to use humor to cope and turns out people might like you if you're half cute and can make them laugh!

debuted with CAERUS in 2014. target of a lot of criticism and debate for the first couple years of his career, from "does he deserve his spot in the group?" to "he's holding the others back" but he worked extremely hard to improve and get to where he needed to be ^^ eventually grew on the public :~)

TW DISORDERED EATING that said, being a target did fuck with his mentality a lot and certain comments abt his appearance mixed with his own insecurities led to him binging / purging on and off for about a year and a half. did seek help and recovered but still has a weird rs with food because of it, doesn't like to eat in public and won't go on reality shows that make a big deal out of meals END TW

sorry kind of starting off with something a little sad 

i think diluc would have a habit of rubbing his vision 

ok seems kinda dumb at first but let me elaborate: 

after the death of his father, diluc was quite obviously devastated 

he basically withdrew into himself after letting all the grief, pain, and rage flood his senses

i think during this time of grieving, he would’ve developed this habit of running the pads of his fingers across his vision to calm himself down 

(v similar to katara from atla) 

since his father had always been proud of diluc’s vision, the thought of touching something that reminded him of his father has always been able to bring him some sort of relief no matter how short lived

it serves as a constant memory of his dad and i think being able to have that kind of connection - no matter how small would hold a significance to him 

stressed? you’ll see his fingers dance across his vision as the crease between his eyebrows gradually loosens 

ok here’s a bonus habit (bc the previous one was sad) 

whenever he’s bartending at angel’s share, he always flips the bottles in this cool bartending way before pouring the drinks 

like the whole shabang - flips in the air, shakes it in a way that the drink foams just right 

people are usually v surprised when they see this bc woah mans has got some sKILLS 

but also bc he’s known for being pretty serious and reserved so seeing a “trick” is kind of breaking the stoic image they have of him 

after he’s done pouring the drinks he’s also really precise about closing the bottles 

he makes sure that the caps are on tightly and that nothing is leaking (which ig is another reason why he does flips with them so he can make sure that the bottles are tightly closed) 

yes he’s rich but he also wants to make sure the drinks don’t go bad bc 1) kind of a loss if they do and 2) his customers deserve the best

when he’s sitting down at his desk, he brings his legs up so he can sit on his chair criss- cross applesauce 

since he’s in his office and the only other person who’s in there with him is jean, he feels like he can drop the suave, charming cavalry captain facade he puts on when he’s in public and just dial it down slightly to who he really is in that moment 

jean doesn’t say a word the entire time even tho she quite obviously notices 

don’t get me wrong, he’s still the smooth talking kaeya but just,,, more relaxed and comfortable?? if that makes sense 

so since he’s a lot more comfortable in his office, he usually folds his legs into his chair bc damn they hurt from walking around all day

this is kinda dumb but i also think he has a lot of ink stains on his hands from writing so whenever he sees a fresh one he just likes to stamp it onto a piece of paper 

usually that piece of paper ends up being an unimportant report that goes to jean 

dw he also has a bunch of pretty small towels in his bottom drawer that he uses to wipe his hands on bc the public can’t see the pretty cavalry captain w ink stains!! the world would end!! 

oH kind of a side note but i also think he would keep a small folded up picture of something klee drew him in his pocket 

he thinks it’s very sweet and he periodically takes it out just to look at it soft for this man 

last one for kaeya but since he wears boots that have the little lip on the bottom (not really a heel but enough to make some noise) he makes sure to always try his best to walk quietly around the streets of mondstadt at night 

if anyone catches him doing it he’ll wave it off and say something like “oh me? i’m just practicing my stealth - it comes in handy when you have to sneak up on enemies you know?” but in reality that’s just bs 

he really just doesn’t wanna risk waking people up <3

this adorable man is obviously notorious for drinking 

he loves alcohol!! i mean he’s the anemo archon of the city of wine and freedom so is anyone really surprised 💀

anyways venti always jokes abt not having any mora (he really doesn’t he’s not wrong) but he always makes sure to pay his tab at angel’s share 

the only reason diluc lets him drink sm is because at the end of the day, venti always comes through w the mora 

he really is a talented bard so everything he makes in singing and composing music for other people to listen to always goes straight to angel’s share (debatable if that’s for the best or not but i’ll leave that one to you) 

so yeah <3 basically venti pays back his tabs even tho he’s an archon since he doesn’t want people to experience a loss bc of him 

it’s the archon nature coming out but also the venti nature bc he’s a sweet boy 

anyways getting onto the actual habit 🕺

he has a tendency to skip/hop regardless of wherever he’s going 

he uses his anemo elemental skill a lot while doing this just he can feel a light breeze whenever he skips around 

i also think he carries around extra bard strings in his hat bc he thinks it’s a cool party trick to take them out and be like tada i have extra strings no need to worry!!! 

people are usually not that amused but he does it anyway 

also yeah uh those strings sometimes fall out when he’s skipping 💀 

he’ll be hopping and suddenly bOOM they fall out, he loses them, a kitten by the name of prince takes them, and he has to ask for help to find his strings (i believe this is exactly how venti lost his strings to prince during the windblume festival and no i will not take any criticism and if venti says something different he is lying 🔪)

also has a habit of putting his hair into a bun sometimes!!! 

he loves his pigtails but he finds that he gets bored of them occasionally and his hair needs a break from its wavy tresses so he just plops it into a bun instead

albedo

i had a feeling i would kind of have a hard time w albedo since he is a little hard to read so i hope this is ok LMFAO 

he has paint stains. everywhere. no you cannot change my mind. 

they are subtle tho i will give him that 

you can’t notice that anything is amiss until you really pay attention and then you’ll start to see the pretty pastels and greens of the sunset he was painting up on dragonspine softly smeared across his clothes 

very rarely you’ll see a cute swipe of paint across his cheek or neck and it’s honestly adorable 

he was probably pushing his hair out of his face while he was painting and some excess paint on his finger landed on his cheek :,) 

he doesn’t really care tbh he thinks it’s just a part of him and it really isn’t that noticeable so he just leaves it 

also!!! since he is a big alchemist and he’s constantly working on labs and experiments i think he would accidentally misplace a lot of his written work 

he seems very organized but w someone as intellectual as him w his brain running miles a minute, i’m sure he has definitely forgotten where he’s put stuff away 

so!! in order to help him remember, he has little notes across his lab detailing where everything is 

if he was working on something and he immediately has to put it on hold bc something came up (klee came in demanding attention or sucrose needs help) then he’ll quickly jot down a note and stick it to his desk so he’ll remember when he comes back just in case he forgets 

sucrose as a result has noticed A LOT of notes across the lab and it’s simultaneously funny and endearing

final point: he lets klee braid his hair sometimes if she wants to 

she doesn’t really know how given how young she is so she ends up messing up but albedo always walks her patiently through the steps again

And she really doesn't show much Si actually she fits more the Si inf vibe in the form of forgetting about bad memories and her mom until people dig it up and she's like "nooo !" ?? Wooh this might get the anger of some (i have experience with the INFJ typers) but Blake goddamn REEKS of Fi. Less so recently but for the first seasons oh my god. She straights up catch you by the shirt and tells you "I'm doing the right thing"; and said right thing is so heavily dependant on her own subjectives values, which is why Blake can't reconcile with the current White Fang; because she doesn't have a strong Je vision of "what objectively works in the end", she only sees actions in terms of immediate right and wrong, and this b&w dichotomy stems from herself. What the WF is doing is wrong and the circumstances don't matter for judging the morality of their actions (of course I'm not talking about murder here bc that's pretty wrong ALL THE TIME but for example the stealing occuring in V1 bc of the WF is a better example)

I would personally call him an INFJ. I... never really got INTP vibes from him ? I don't see the Fe inf work out with his interactions : he's always rather at ease, he knows how to navigate around people... His focus inherently lies on doing what's best for the "group", the people, humanity. Fx functions are both concerned with ethics, in different ways, and I think Oz reflects that well. He IS concerned with the moral weight of his actions, but it's a more adaptable and unpersonnal concern than Fi people. He regards Ironwood's soul machines as something wrong, but can still agree to use it if the situations demand it for example. So... if the INFJ + 5 makes sense to you, well that's what I'm typing him personally. I also feel like Ni fits him more than Ne. Ozpin has a very linear way of planning, he does use his fair share of symbolism in every day conversation... Even when taking decisions, he... kind of cares about the meaning of things a lot ? It's hard to explain but like; the way he highlights the difference between an army and a guardian, and the emotionnal response it brings. I don't know it feels like there's some Ni vibes in there x)

Might be weird if you think he was a dictator from the start, but I kind of entertained the idea of Ironwood being Fe dom ? From his very first interaction it was very clear that he was a Je dom to me; he's all about objective results; he doesn't give off the "internal framework" or "personnal values" vibe AT ALL; so it was more a matter of picking Te or Fe. He LOOKS super Te don't get me wrong; but he also has an enneagram tritype that is very common amongst XXTJs (and TJs stereotypes thus derive from it). And just like Oz, his focus at all time seemed to be the greater good and doing what's best for the people still. So I was like... Eh, a "harsh" ENFJ I think that's interesting ? Plus Fe ethics actually derive from their environment, kinda like "everyone agrees that Y is wrong", and if you consider that James is from Atlas... Well his way of thinking and ethics align pretty well with the military.

His character took a turn for the worse in V8 (whether too quick or not depends on who you ask) and past that point he's a clear ENTJ; but I feel like it was more debatable before that. Idk though I might be overthinking this in the hope of making more interesting combinations xD

THOUGHTS ON NIE MINGJUE

HHHHHHHH OKAY NIE MINGJUE I HAVE MANY THOUGHTS ON NIE MINGJUE! most of them are just I LOVE HIM and he deserved BETTER and the rest of them is just kind of incoherent screaming in my brain BUT I shall try 2 make words out of them

OKAY SO tbh I don’t know when my brain decided to get on the love for da-ge train but it did and oh boy it’s not getting off any time soon. I think I watched fatal journey and vaguely considered nielan for A Bit Too Long one time and now I’m just kinda stuck here. 

I honestly didn’t really give Nie Mingjue that much thought at all until I watched fatal journey and then the thoughts came through with reckless abandon. in fatal journey you certainly see NMJ in a very different light compared to what you see in CQL. you see his raw emotion and his thought process, his tactics as a leader and first and foremost you see how he functions as an elder brother. BUT this is bearing in mind all of this is while he is heavily under the influence of Jin Guangyao’s version of the song of clarity. you see much more of how much JGY’s remix is actually changing him and how different he has become in comparison to the Nie Mingjue you see in the earlier episodes of CQL. it is much clearer that it wasn’t just enhancing the resentment of the sword spirit within him. it was enhancing every little feeling and emotion tenfold.

you see this probably the most clearly with the different way he interacts with Nie Huaisang from the start of CQL to the start of fatal journey. when you’re first introduced to NMJ in CQL you see that he is annoyed and frustrated at NHS when he finally returns from galivanting around with WWX, yet it is no more than a sharp look and a sigh, mostly coming from the worry that NHS didn’t come straight home when he said he would. when Nie Huaisang’s actions frustrate him again at the start of fatal journey (when under the influence of the JGY remix) he lashes out at NHS so much that he nearly physically hurts him. of course, he never does because he cares for him so much and not matter how much the song of clarity enhances his rage and frustration, it also enhances how much he would never want to hurt his little brother and its why he never does, because he can’t. when he’s almost completely taken over by it and kills Zonghui and the rest of the disciples, he can’t hurt Huaisang. and even when he is dying he can still fight through it when he sees his little brother. 

NMJ is fiercely protective of his loved ones and his little brother is clearly at the top of that list. I’m pretty sure that his overprotectiveness - particularly for Nie Huaisang - stemmed from his father’s death. when his father received a severe injury from taking NMJ on a night hunt and later died as a result, it left Nie Mingjue - only a teenager – with the responsibility to step up as sect leader, to raise his little brother and to carry the burden of the soul spirit and the curse of the Nie sect. all this as well is weighed down by the fact that NMJ would undoubtedly blame himself for his father’s death and the fact that he was unable to prevent it. this is what shapes him into a strong willed and determined sect leader, strict with rules and discipline. he uses the guilt he feels over his father’s death and channels in into running the Nie sect. determined to keep the Nie sect as strong as possible, he follows the same routes his father and ancestors did; running it in a military like style and continuing to allow sacrifices to be made to the sword spirit. Nie Mingjue knows what his sword spirit will eventually do to him, that he will not be around to pass it on to another generation and the fate will befall to his younger brother. so, when it comes to Nie Huaisang, all NMJ wants for him is to do well within the cultivation world, for him to be able to grow into a strong sect leader in the way he knows he himself will never live to become. he is strict with him because he wants his little brother to be able to be strong enough to never have to burden himself with the sword spirit. and it’s the knowledge that one day NHS may have to that ignites his frustration with him when Nie Huaisang shows so little interest in following in what he wants for him. because all he ever wants is for Nie Huaisang to be able to do better than he has done in his life. he wants to be able to always protect him and it kills him that he will one day be no longer able to do that. so, when Nie Mingjue is dying, when he is qi deviating, the need to protect his little brother is still there, in fact it so strong that it breaks through everything else. the need for NMJ to still be there to protect NHS is stronger than his rage and hate for JGY. in that moment, if JGY hadn’t intervened further NMJ could have most likely been pulled back from that edge. Jin Guangyao pulled every string in NMJ’s brain and increased every little thing he was feeling until he was nothing but a ball of rage and hurt and sadness and a tremendous amount of love and protection for his brother and the others he cared about. it’s why in the end, it didn’t work. JGY still had to have Xue yang cut NMJ’s head off to kill him. he never considered the other parts of Nie Mingjue he was changing when he put his little plan into action, the things that would still anchor him down and keep him human. and in the end, his cruel way of revenge and killing NMJ for his own gain ultimately backfired on him and led him to his own downfall.

what hurts so fucking much about what JGY did to NMJ is that it wouldn’t have worked it NMJ didn’t let it. obviously he had no idea what JGY was doing to him but he allowed him to be close enough for it to work. ultimately NMJ tried to work with JGY as best he could. he was devastated abt what meng yao did and that he had to banish him. he still worries about what became of him after he left and inquires after his wellbeing when he thinks he went to Jinlintai. his true distrust in JGY only starts – quite rightly so - after the events during the Sunshot campaign. and imagine how NMJ must have felt when he saw what JGY was capable of during Sunshot? NMJ saw meng yao, an outcast bullied by his peers and degraded for his parentage. so, he gave him a chance, stood up for him when everyone else was kicking him (literally) to the curb. all JGY wanted was the recognition of his father and NMJ figured he deserved the chance to get that. he built him up and gave him a strong position of power, even wrote to Jin Guangshan to persuade him to recognise his son. but then when JGY turns around and abuses that power he gives him and uses it to get away with literal murder and to crawl his way up the ranks, NMJ would’ve felt responsible for JGY actions because he was the one who enabled him to be in that position in the first place. NMJ had very strong, very rightful doubts about JGY after he killed his captain and his disciples during Sunshot, yet he cared about him in the past and he saw that some of JGY’s actions benefitted the good, and he saw how much trust LXC has in him and he allowed it to sway his gut feelings. you can see as they become sworn brothers that the distrust is still there quite strongly so I like to think that initially NMJ agreed to become sworn brothers with JGY as a way of “keeping the enemy close”. he would’ve wanted to keep a close eye on him, protect LXC if necessary, and partly because he still wanted to see if the good he once saw in him was still there. he wanted to believe that he was wrong and that JGY wasn’t lying. LXC suggested the sworn brotherhood as a way to build a bridge between NMJ and JGY, and honestly? it worked. but only on one half. and that half is Nie Mingjue, not Jin Guangyao.

in order for NMJ to let JGY play him the song of clarity in the first place, the trust he originally lost in him, he must have started to regain again over the years as his sworn brother. he would’ve seen JGY do good work and rise up the ranks, step ‘humbly’ into Jin Zixuan’s place and he would’ve seen how much trust LXC had in JGY. each little thing lessened that distrust to the extent he allowed JGY to know of how the sword spirit resentment affected him, and to trust him enough to let him try heal him. his distrust in JGY clearly never went away completely, but during those 16 years, NMJ trusted him enough to put his life in JGY’s hands and ultimately paid the price for it. 

but this is where I think Jin Guangyao went wrong. he never saw past the rage and distrust NMJ had in him at the start and instead used it as another excuse for his actions. he never considered the fact in allowing JGY to get so close that he could try kill him in such a way, that that was the very reason not to. and even if he did realise that NMJ trusted him again, he was too far in his grab for power to stop. instead, Jin Guangyao took the small amount of distrust that NMJ still had in him, and then increased it and made him feel it ten times worse over and over and over, until NMJ finally snapped with him. JGY made NMJ resentment for him ten times worse for himself to finally give him more means to justify killing him than it simply being that NMJ stood in the way when it came to his grasp for power. but in the end, all JGY was doing was sowing the seeds of his own destruction.

putting aside all the depressing plot stuff for a minute bc if I think abt it any harder for any longer I think I’m gonna combust SO I’m gonna jump back to just how much I LOVE HIM and I just DO I don’t fucking know why, I suppose I have a lil bit of a thing for tragedy and oh boy is the life of Nie Mingjue a tragedy, and I guess I have a soft spot for the “guy with a tough exterior is in reality really soft and goofy around those he loves and cares abt” trope. I guess what I also love abt him is that not many people see it. yes, he has an incredibly tough exterior that many people find it difficult to see past, but NMJ is soft, he is kind and he cares so very deeply about the people he loves. you see him so different once you go back and watch CQL from the beginning knowing the plot and having seen NMJ screaming and sobbing in his brother’s arms, his death looming ever so close on the horizon. You can see past his exterior and realise that he isn’t just Nie Huaisang’s angry older brother. you see him kind and eager and teasing with Lan Xichen and what can be first seen as anger with NHS is really just worry. and… it just makes everything just so much more heart-breaking. Because you realise what’s going to happen to him, what he is going to go through and you realise just how much he never fucking deserved it.

and now I’m very sad and feel like I should go write smthn abt him retiring with LXC and taking up beekeeping or smthn idk I just want him to be HAPPY :(
