i just know that eddie would ruin so many jokes/memes because of how often he'd say them. it would be so bad that you'd have to stop yourself from ripping your hair out with how much annoyance it caused you.

you're lying on your back, the comfort of his mattress pressing into you. eddie is hovering over you, wedged between your legs, as the two of you makeout.

little gasps and moans fill the room, he's grinding into, making you pant even harder. against your wishes, he moves away from your mouth, trailing small kisses down the side of your neck and up to your ear.

removing his mouth from your skin, his mouth is right next to your ear and you can hear and feel him breathing heavily.

"baby," his voice is husky and dripping with desire. after you answer with a small hmm, he goes to talk again. "do you want to know what i think?"

pulling his face back, he's now looking down at you. a millisecond of silence goes by and he's grinning down at you playfully.

"i think," before you know it, he's shouting "LIFE IS ROBLOX."

making the both of you fall into fits of giggles.

it goes on like that for weeks, him saying random dj khalid quotes every time you try to have a conversation. at first it's funny, always making you burst into laughter. but after so many times it genuinely starts becoming blood boiling.

the two of you are in the middle of target, you're crouched down reading the labels between two different face cleansers. your first mistake was leaving your guard down, the second mistake was taking your boyfriend to the store with you. before you know it, Eddie is shouting at the top of his lungs.

"LETS GO SHOPPIN. LETS GO SHOPPIN."

the minute it leaves his lips you drop both bottles and scurry out of the aisle with your basket. when he finally catches up to you at the self checkout, he's laughing so hard he's crying. you're not though, you can feel the burning sensation of embarrassment all through your body as other shoppers stare at the man who caused a disturbance.

it doesn't stop there though, oh no.

you're out at dinner, it's a fancier restaurant, with the rest of the gang. everything is going well, a bottle of wine has been ordered for the table, fancy little appetizers being shared between all of you, when the waiter comes over to take everyone's orders.

you should've known what was coming, really you should've but when you realized what was about to happen it was too late.

the middle age man wearing a white button down shirt and black slacks, stands next to eddie asking him what he would like. it seems like your boyfriend just couldn't help himself because he's shouting out,

"TELL THEM TO BRING OUT THE WHOLE OCEAN!"

immediately you cringe, hiding your face behind your hand as you sink lower into your seat. although you and other patrons don't particularly find it funny, some of the group can't help but find it amusing.

all you want to do is cry when you see the poor waiter's face, scrunched up in confusion, trying to understand whatever joke it is that eddie just said. finally after the most awkward ten seconds of your life, the boy next to you finally has the common sense to order what he really wants at a normal volume.

it's all the time that he does these things. you ask him what he wants to do for the day and he's responding with,

"LETS GO GOLFING."

you're sitting on the couch on a zoom call since it had been a work from home day. while you're trying to talk to everyone in the meeting, eddie walks out of your spare bedroom with his acoustic guitar. he starts playing atrociously like dj khalid did after receiving Bob Marley's guitar. to make matters worse, he can be seen in the background with the way you're sitting. he knows this since he placed the guitar down and starts dancing the same way the celebrity did in multiple videos.

it's exhausting and honestly it's starting to piss you off to no end.

you're in the car with him when you finally break, yelling at him that it's not funny anymore. he's quiet, letting you rip him a new asshole. when you're finally done, all the pent up rage leaving your body, all that can be heard is your hard breathing.

finally, finally you had some peace and silence in the car. you couldn't get too used to it though because before you know it, he's saying something else.

"LETS GO TO THE BEACH! LETS GO SWIMMIN' !"

after that day he seems to quit with all the stupid quotes, giving you a sigh of relief. what you don't realize is that you defeated one beast and woke up another.

one morning you ask him if he can take a look at your car, see what's causing it to make that weird noise. you can't help but feel your heart sink when he answers you.

"i would love to babe, but i'm just ken."

for the next month that's how he's answering all your questions and every shopping trip is stopped short the minute he breaks out into song and dance, singing the popular song from the movie at the top of his lungs.

Without names tell us about this 6 month rp where you had to change your character to fit?

Someone approached me about writing a ship with Faye with the understanding up front that we would first have to see if the potential was even there, that it would be a slowburn, and that Faye was still hung up on her past relationship and would need time before she could be in a semi-healthy relationship. Despite this, I was rushed every step of the way.

There were times we would discuss one thing for an RP idea, start the scene, and then it would be something totally different--i.e. he threw out the idea of a fake dating scenario, and only after we started writing the scene he announced to me OOC, "My character would never settle for fake dating, only the real thing."

He wanted to start new RP threads even though previous ones were unfinished, which created continuity issues where we would have to decide on the outcome of an unfinished scene we would still be writing. It felt like he used this to his advantage, either to retcon to make sure his character did the "perfect" thing, or to make me feel pressured to keep the RP on the "right" course, often adding in surprise caveats for things Faye would have to promise to make that happen.

There was constant pressure from him for Faye to be more lovey-dovey with his character, for her to engage in more PDA with him, for her to always talk about him and inform everyone she was dating him, and for her to act in ways that made her more immature, irrational, airheaded, affectionate, and emotional. He asked me almost daily if Faye loved his character yet, if she was close to saying "I love you," if there was a timeframe, what he could do to make it happen, etc. He brought up marriage and engagement regularly. Remember when I said we agreed to make this a slowburn!

There were multiple instances I told him Faye wouldn't do something he wanted, but he would continue arguing or begging, sometimes even holding stuff over my head (saying that I owed it to him because I had cut into "our" RP time by RPing with someone else, or having to run AFK for RL things mid-RP). There were times he made comments about my glamours for Faye, particularly anything frilly and frou-frou or modest. He only seemed interested in "elegant and sexy" and didn't like anything that didn't give him "easy access" to her. Anytime any sexual situation didn't go perfectly as he envisioned, OOC he blamed it on Faye being "not a real sub" and "bad at BDSM" lol.

He would try to downplay Faye's competence and capabilities so he could be her hero in every situation. His character would speak over Faye or try to speak for her in her own business affairs, including my own FC's RP, an FC he was not even a member of. Every single "flaw" my character had, from her prosthetic hand to her PTSD to her heartbreak over her last relationship, he was insistent his character could "fix" and change her.

He had some "not like other girls" headcanons about Faye being jealous, vindictive of other women, or constantly needing to boast about him and their relationship, and insinuated she wouldn't be into "basic" things. He would send me memes, character inspo, quotes, etc. that I often felt didn't really fit Faye, and he didn't care to listen the few times I mentioned something was not in line with Faye or how I wanted to portray her, often stuff that infantilized her.

And lastly, he had initially discovered me through a mutual friend who I won't name (but hi if you're reading this ily girl lol), but it seemed his character had been hung up on hers, and her character had some similarities to Faye. I had a creeping feeling he really wanted my character to… fit into some mold of what he presumed her character to be like?

She returned to the game and he implied that she contacted him and wanted her character to be with his, but he had chosen Faye (phrased in a context that I was supposed to be grateful to him and indebted to him for making him miss out?). At that point I asked him if he wouldn't rather be RPing with her and told him that he could be up front with me and I would be fine with it, but he insisted that while his character had feelings for her character years ago, his character had changed and matured, her character was no longer his character's type and didn't interest him, and he would rather being RPing with me. I found out that while he was telling me this, he was begging her to ship her character with his, but she wasn't interested, and he continued hounding her as well as doing the same stuff he had to me with trying to push ideas he had about her character onto her to the point she was really uncomfortable. Anyway, there's other stuff that happened, but the rest just doesn't have to do with how he wanted me to play my character so I'll leave it at that haha.

Now, Coach Darnell just wanted a fun little hiking trip for the school. Give the kids some exercise, let the parents be involved. It's free, they get to be in nature, and it's a perfectly lovely laid-back afternoon. Unfortunately for him, the entire Close-Foster-Freeman-Swift-Stephen-Stampler-Marlowe-Swallows-Oak-Garcia-Wilson-Actually-Likely-dear-god-how-many-last-names-do-these-people-have family decided to chaperone.

 Henry: We should go to [fairly far away trail] it's a prefect one for the kids

Carol: How are we going to get there though? The school doesn't have enough minibuses

Darryl: Well, Odessey-san could probably fit about a class and some parents and teachers

Mercedes: And the journey is less than an hour so we can use our no-emission fuel source

Glenn: Guess that means I'm riding with you guys, huh

Darnell, who only knows the Odessey as Darryl's rundown car the kiddads got kidnapped in that one time: Hold on, are you seriously suggesting that we try and fit 30+ people into a 30-something year old minivan that runs on a weird fuel source that you never name and has to be changed every hour, that for some reason only Glenn use?

TJ, completely missing the multiple problems: ... she's bigger on the inside

TJ: She can fit a class

 Sparrow will not stop picking up squirrels. No one knows how he's even able to get that close to them or why they don't freak out when he picks them up (the answer is druid powers). There's a picture of him holding twenty and surrounded by more on the school's socials.

 Grant: This hike will be a great opportunity to spend time with Lincoln's new friends and see what they're like

 At one point, Nicky hurts his ankle (plus his asthma is acting up) so Terry just starts giving him a piggy back unprompted.

Lark: Hey Teej, can you carry me as well for a bit

Nicky absolutely did not need to be carried the entire rest of the trail, but what was he supposed to do? Tell Terry to put him down? Obviously not an option

(Terry also could easily have carried Lark too, he was just being petty. He also knew he could have stopped carrying Nicky after like, 10 minutes, but hey, Nicky wasn’t complaining, and maybe he liked being able to be this close to him again, sue him)

 They go to a milkshake diner place after the hike (which has vegan options to appease the Swallows-Oak-Garcias). Glenn and Morgan get those couples straws and you know this meme?

They both do the thing in the bottom picture, but they share the glasses that they put the bottom end of the straws into so it still ends up looking like the top picture. Alternatively, they only share one glass, and the other straw is in an individual glass. Which of course means they get into a whole Freddie-esque tangent/rant about why the middle glass needs to be twice as big because it's being consumed at double the rate of the other two

Jodie is not jealous at all as he watches this. Nope. Nuh-uh.

Scam and Mark somehow snuck onto the trip. No one knows how. Terry spends the entire diner celebration shooting the paper coverings that come with straws at takeout places at Mark because he still hasn't forgiven her for upsetting Ron

Poor Darnell just has to keep dealing with this weird-ass blend of 4, maybe 5, different families that just keep on happening. Unfortunate downsides of being Carol’s best friend

Chapter Four

Did I say that this fic was named at the Lord of the Rings quote? This fic's title was yanked from the opening quote of The Fellowship of the Ring, as narrated by Cate Blanchett as Galadriel.

"The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it."

Thank goodness I've gotten marginally better at titles.

That was Dick’s way of helping, the physical presence. The others tried to help in their own ways.

As always, it' a fun challenge to dump the characters out into a pile and try to sort out their defining characteristics and reactions. I don't want to be stereotypical or one-dimensional about it, but I like to figure out what niches they each fill. Dick's physical touch nature was very much a "all the fics say he's like this" thing. I don't think I disagree with that, but I like to think I've gotten more subtle and nuanced in my depictions of him since this fic.

Alfred made all of Tim’s favorite foods, insisted on making sure he had clean sheets every day, and conveniently found many things to clean in Tim’s general presence. It was nice to have the company, especially when Dick was at work. It helped to have that extra heartbeat floating in the silence.

And here we have Alfred, acts of service. Again, it could be one-dimensional if done too heavy-handedly (I refrain from commenting whether this, my second fic ever, qualifies), but I do think the decision fits Alfred. He can't cuddle Tim into happiness but by gum he will not let you malinger in filth.

Stephanie dropped by when she could, but that wasn’t often. Her multiple jobs and school kept her busy, as did helping out her mom. But she made herself present in other ways. Tim grew fond of the meeping ringtone again, as it meant the arrival of another silly meme, viral video, or cute baby animal photo. They were stupid things that fixed nothing, but he enjoyed the escape.

As much as I do not relate to Stephanie in many ways, this is a me trait that I gave to her.

Cass wasn’t much for physical company or communication, but Tim knew she was around. Items would appear on his bed when he wasn’t around, all unbelievably soft. Fuzzy socks. A chenille blanket. A cashmere sweatshirt. Worn-just-right stretch pants. More stuffed animals than his bed could comfortably hold. The texture was her version of a hug and warmed Tim just as thoroughly as Dick’s one-armed embraces and Alfred’s presence.

Something about this felt right and it's continued in my versions of Cass from this point. Cass and Jason are both hyper-picky about soft, luxurious things. Discomfort is not an option when they're in a healthy state of mind, and it makes sense that Cass would transfer that pickiness to how she cares for her family.

Babs also wasn’t around, but she bent her prodigious skill set to helping Tim with the more practical considerations. She dug up the information for his parents’ various estranged relations and let them know about the funeral. Anything he didn’t have the brainpower for, she pitched in. Other than a quick aside the day after his father’s death, Babs didn’t offer her sympathy or condolences. She just worked quickly, pulled details and information into her web, wrapped them up, and handed them to Tim with a neat bow on top.

Also me. Just let me use my skillset to help, dagnab.

He moved his work from WE to the Manor study and circled Tim in a twilight orbit, out of sight but never out of reach. He also checked in with Tim after patrol each night, something that Tim had never seen him do before but that Dick said used to be a regular occurrence in the early days.

This is always a funnnn dynamic of Bruce's to play with, his constant calibrating and recalibrating his interactions with his kids. Not that oblivious or obtuse Bruce can't be interesting in his own way, but I really like the tension that comes from a guy who tries so dang hard and still manages to not quite get it right. But he still keeps trying. He wants to respect his loved ones' boundaries. He wants to be helpful in ways that's genuinely helpful, not just destined to make himself feel better. But relationships are messy and complicated even without trauma involved.

“Still applying your lackluster mind to those reports, I see. Stare at them for too long and you’ll enfeeble your vision, and then what use will Father have for you?” A small hand darted out and snatched the top paper.

He comes across as an awful little child but it does make the payoff of this chapter worth it. 😄 Also, the dialogue can be read in a whole different way, so that's fun too.

Tim’s muscles tensed, on the verge of lunging at the boy, and Damian’s eyes glittered in anticipation as he danced backward.

See? (Also, if I were editing, I'd tighten up that sentence and, at minimum, cut "at the boy." The voice is wrong and the words are unnecessary and it feels weird. There. Your pro tip to make all this yammering worth something.)

“My family is a pack of wolves, and they’re circling the carcass. I don’t know who’ll win out, but they’re already fighting over me, because whoever gets me gets my trust fund. They'll drag me out of Gotham, shove me in a corner with their Tiffany lamp or 17th century burgomaster or whatever they decorate with, and forget about me, but I won't be allowed back here.”

SEO and the way real people google things is fascinating. I'm not sure how accurate I was, but it was fun to consider, especially since the results needed to be realistic, needed to reflect the different angles Damian would have been trying to take, and the results needed to in themselves impart a small story to the readers.

It dealt with manifestations of grief and combatting the more deleterious symptoms—including fatigue, lack of focus, apathy, depression, suicidal ideation, and isolation—with a strict adherence to normal behaviors by those surrounding the subject.

If you squint, you can check off each symptom Damian would have noticed or thought he was noticing. Bless his heart.

This is my “behind the scenes” series where I indulge myself horribly by annotating my fics. Link to the fic itself above. Thoughts below the cut.

As always with multi-chapter fics, I'll start with Chapter One and add subsequent chapters via reblogs.

Chapter One

I'm only tackling one multi-chapter at a time, which is why these end up so wildly out of order with the rest of this tag.

This was the second fic I ever wrote! It spawned directly out of Mother Bruce, which is wild to me because I continued to insist for quite a while that I didn't totally understand or know Tim yet.

Tim had thought becoming an orphan would feel different somehow. Like in the moment his father’s chest fell and failed to rise again, there would be this great rending of reality, forever hewing his life into Before and After. That was how it had worked for Bruce. For Dick. Maybe that was how it worked for him, too, and he was too numb to notice it.

There's always a tension between interior and exterior perspective, one that's both important and fun to play with, because one isn't inherently more true than the other, but they both coexist regarding multiple things at the same time. Here, we're stuck in Tim's perspective about himself and what he's feeling as well as his exterior perspective or assumptions on how a similar experience had worked for both Bruce and Dick, but there's already a signal that the interior perspective, which you might think would be solid and objectively true as a primary witness, may not be at all.

Tim’s fingers ran lightly across the marble table, taking with them a thin layer of dust. The dust and the stale taste in the air were the only change from the last time he had stepped inside the mansion. . . How long had it been?

It took a bit of puzzling to figure out what I thought the Drake home was like, both here and in other fics. Different details could point to different kinds of neglect—neglected and unkempt vs spotless and sterile—complicated by what the house had been vs. what it might have been in the brief window of time before Jack's death.

Bruce had trained all his proteges to walk without a sound, but Tim-who-was-Robin had never needed much practice. He was used to being a ghost in his own home. He made no noise now as he crossed the long entry hall in socked feet, shoes neatly lined by the front door. He walked in the dark, knowing nothing would be out of place. Trusting his feet to guide him safely, the way they always had after his midnight forays after the mysteries next door. In his head, Tim absently counted his steps, as he always did.

Another thing to figure out, how Tim chose to exist in his own home, a place that is undeniably his but also where he is undeniably unwelcome. I built on this more in The Return with the state of his room.

He had clipped the vase with his bag and hadn’t slowed even when the fragile porcelain shattered on the hardwood. He had barely heard it over the rattle of the bottles as he slung the bag over his shoulder. The medicine bottles full of his father’s pills. There hadn’t been time to grab them before Jack Drake had been loaded in the ambulance. Hadn’t been time to load Tim in the ambulance with him before the white doors had slammed shut. So Tim had come after with the medical records and bottles swept from the bedside table into the canvas bag. That was Tim, always following behind.

If this were in a comic, I'd expect to see Present Tim standing at the stares, watching the incorporeal path of Past Him sprinting down the full length of the page.

Also, I don't remember if I gave Jack a specific cause of death (it'll probably pop up later in his fic), but I didn't want to mess with the canon of Captain Kangaroo or whoever it was. No murder needed, just the banal tragedy of human bodies.

Flipping on the lights, he looked around. Here, too, everything was just as he had left it. The overturned chair from his lunge for the alarm. The rumpled bed surrounded by droning machines. The splash of paperwork on the floor. The crumpled plastic debris from the EMTs. Shuffling forward, he nudged the wrappers and disposable medical instruments out of the way, then reconsidered and bent to pick up the trash. Litter was carefully sorted into trash and recycling and disposed of accordingly. The chair was righted. The paperwork was tidied and placed on the dresser. The machines were silenced, then unplugged, the insistent beeps fading into silence and the screens plunging into black.

Tim, forever the fixer, the silent tidier who cleans up after disasters.

🧠 a time my muse thought about yours.

Corinthia, the city of wine and prostitutes. It was why Dante had chosen it, getting drunk and whoring around felt like the appropriate way to mend the rift that had formed in his broken heart. He had all this power at his disposal that he did not understand, and worst of all, Dante was alone. But that was his burden to carry now, his family had made it clear that he was no longer welcome among them.

The city wasn’t meant to be anything more than a brief stop, a little fun, a little drink, then the genasi would be on his way. But a few days turned into a week, turned into several, then after a handful of months the genasi decided to make it official. Dante was sat in the chair of the local tattoo parlour when his thoughts wandered towards Anders, he knew the burden that his brother carried was a heavy one, made that much greater now that it was solely shared between him and their sister, Hela. 

“What were you thinking?” The man asked, they were still in the designing stage and truthfully Dante wasn’t sure, just that he wanted something other than the nordic runes he and a few others had drawn into each other’s skin years prior. Norse culture was something that Dante was trying to get away from, yet he knew, even with the severing of his tie to Hel, it was ingrained in him still. 

“I want to start with a wolf, here,” Dante pointed to his left forearm, his heavy Swedish accent still fumbled with the Greek, but the genasi was a fast learner. 

“Aren’t they supposed to be taboo?” The genasi shook his head, Fenrir was mistakenly painted as a monster that was to be thwarted and tamed by Odin, but Hakon was a hero to the Häljesta. Besides, this wasn’t for him.

“Not as much as you might think.”

A sickness had struck the young witch Dante, one that even the Häljesta’s healers could do nothing for but offer simple balms to try and quell the fever that had peaked within the boy. His parents were - who knew where - and Hela was with them. There were rumours of a genasi in the area and it was to deal with the intrusive outsider that the bulk of the coven was called away. Anders should have been as well, he was a dire wolf shifter, young, strong, but he had argued that he should remain. That Dante should not be left alone to battle this ailment. 

It had come as a dream, the sound of his brother as he argued with their parents, in the end they relented, they had more than enough who were able-bodied and ready, and if Anders chose to remain behind then that was his decision. Dante wheezed, still small, and weak, he was delirious as sweat soaked his clothes and sheets. Layered in warm furs, Dante shuttered still, his teeth chattered and anything that the healers gave him was soon in the bucket next to his bed. 

A day passed, then another, and his condition worsened. At midday Dante would awaken to see Anders cleaning out the pale, fetching more tonics, more balms, demanding the healers try again. At nightfall his brother was there, encouraging him to try and eat, to drink, to do what he could to keep his strength up. At night Dante would awaken and see his brother still sat in the chair beside his bed, his loud snoring prominent but comforting at the same time. In the early morning he would see Anders bent over Dante’s sketchbook, the figures that the witch would breathe life into. By the third day his brother acquiesced, and against the healer’s advice, permitted the hounds to join them in Dante’s tent. They slept about them, Dante’s favourites on the bed with him. 

The fourth night Dante awoke to the sound of prayer, to the sound of his brother praying to every God across the nine realms. The witch could hear him weeping through the hymn, and when next Dante awoke, his fever had broken. He ate, and he drank, then after a few days his strength had returned. Anders pretended as if it was nothing, that he knew Dante was going to be fine the whole time, but he knew the truth: they were both scared.

Years had passed, and there was nothing from his family. No word, no letters, no phone calls, no attempt of any kind to make contact. Dante knew that when they cast him out that he would never be allowed to return again, he knew that things had changed. Forever. Still, he had expected someone to reach out, Hela? Anders? But there was nothing but silence. One day they were a family, then after a single decision they had cut him out of his life completely.

Hi<3 I wanted to ask you if new directions were on tumblr, how do you think you would interact with them? And what do you think their blogs would be about?

Santana: Mutuals. It was basically confirmed in canon that this girl had a tumblr with her comment about her having a favorite ‘Rizzoli & Isles’ blog.. if that doesn’t scream a tumblr lesbian idk what does lol!! Her entire blog would mainly be devoted to sapphic ships that she would sob about in the tags (think overuse of emojis and keyboard smashes)! She would have a pretty decent following and get quite a few asks where she would give headcanons and meta on her favorite ships. She also wouldn’t tell a soul that she’s on there but Brittany would find out and lovingly tease her about it.

Tina: I follow her but she doesn’t follow me. She would be on tumblr constantly! She would have one of those super popular multifandom blogs that makes the most crisp gifs and has hundreds of requests waiting in her inbox. At first you’d be a bit intimidated by her until you realize she is the sweetest and is always super nice about giving tips and resources for gif making!

Sam: I don’t follow him but he follows me. His tumblr would consist of almost 100% memes with no organization/tagging system. Instead of tags, he would leave comments under posts like “woah this is sick dude 🤩” or “nice!!! 👍” which would in turn make a good amount of people block him because they would think he’s some bot or sarcastic troll when in reality they are always genuine comments. He would be the king of spam reblogging to the point that if you did follow him he would overwhelm your dash. Though, every once and awhile there would be a very detailed & coherent post by him about ‘True Jackson, VP’ with links to a petition to get it renewed/rebooted.

Blaine: Mutuals. You just know he would make the best tumblr mutual! He would definitely be that one mutual that you can always count on to like and reblog your content and he would leave the most thoughtful tags. His blog would be a variety of all his interests (he originally tried to have separate side blogs but it was too much for him to keep up with!) but it’s extremely well organized and mainly runs on a queue.

Kurt: I follow him but he doesn’t follow me. His tumblr would be very curated and definitely fit a certain aesthetic. I picture it mostly consisting of reblogs of fashion, films, art, food, etc. But multiple times a week he would post blank text posts with super long rants in the tags with a lot of cussing and the last tag would be #delete later.

Brittany: Mutuals. Everything she posts would be super cheerful & colorful (envision loads of rainbows & cats). She is known for sending asks since she absolutely loves sending her mutuals the most offbeat questions. You can also always rely on her if you’re having a bad day to send you a random quote or fact that will make you smile.

Mike: Mutuals. He would truly have the most chill blog and reblog anything that catches his eye but not in a way where it overloads your dash. He also is someone who follows back almost everyone who follows him and sends a lot of kind asks & leaves nice tags on your original content. He would never get involved in any fandom drama and would only have one filtered tag which is ‘Channing Tatum’.

Puck: Mutuals (mostly for entertainment purposes on my end). He’d be the one to act like he’s never even heard of tumblr but secretly runs his own fic blog mainly for the soap opera he compulsively watches with his mom & sister. He also occasionally enjoys posting snippets of the various screenplays he’s working on. He prides himself on staying anonymous so he uses a pen name and changes the names of everyone he writes about but does an awful job at picking out new names (changes Puck to Huck, Finn to Binn, etc)!

Finn: Neither one of us follows one another. Actually didn’t know what tumblr was until he saw the app on Puck’s phone and noticed him spending a lot of time on it so he got curious. Months later he still has no clue on what the point of tumblr is and has pretty much given up on trying to properly use it. He has a few text posts screaming into the void but they have no engagement. Though he did somehow link his instagram so that still updates.

Mercedes: Mutuals. Her tumblr consists mainly of reblogs for her favorite celebrities, tv shows, & movies. She also has gotten into the habit of live blogging for a few of her top shows and her commentary is so good that you wouldn’t dare to unfollow her or filter her tags for it, even for the shows you didn’t have any interest in previously. She’s the mutual that has such great taste that you find her continuing to influence what media you want to consume next!

Quinn: Mutuals. Her blog is a mix of literature, art, philosophy etc which does make it have an overall pretty “classy” feel but the vast majority of it is also just very, very, very, gay.. to the point where half of what she reblogs is of women kissing/being affectionate with one another. She also eventually dabbles in writing some femslash & it’s very good stuff…

Artie: Neither one of us follows one another. Has a decent following due to his film reviews (he also blocks anyone who disagrees with any of his opinions). He’s also heavily involved in various popular fandoms like Star Wars and Marvel which leads to him getting into some very intense discourse which results in more blocking.

Rachel: Mutuals (on thin ice). Posts super nice aesthetics & moodboards. Though unfortunately, she would be that tumblr mutual who gets into heated debates with anons constantly and is such an easy target because she can’t recognize when people are trolling her so she takes the bait every time. But, fairly often it does get to the point where she actually ends up exhausting the anons with her long written responses.

Okay so uh...

let's do this.

I know I've kinda posted quite a bit already, but I really want to do a formal introduction to myself and my Five here, and what imma be up to. I kinda joined to post about my feelings about this good stuff, my fan art, memes, fangirling, all that good stuff. I finished 5k training and I'm just about to start Season 2 so I'm pretty new, but this fandom is literally my everything and ugh I love it so much already. Everyone is so welcoming in this fandom and I have literally seen no hate in here at all, which makes this space feel even more safe and secure. I made this account to join in with y'all in sharing and "bonding" ( I guess??) over memes, fan art, fanfics, quotes, favourite episodes and so much other good stuff. I really love looking through everyone's different posts, and seeing how cool and unique everyone's Five is! I hope y'all come with me while I make my way through this good shit,, and even if not, I'm gonna post on here anyway and continue to follow everyone else's stuff, cause its all amazing! Anyway,, enough ranting from me!

Here's a description of my Five! (shamelessly self inserting here, but also like a few changed aspects)

On the physical side of things, she's a 5"3, messy haired gal with freckles all over her nose. She's got scars and bruises from MULTIPLE occasions, some from mission runs, others from accidents she'd rather not admit to. Five's small (ish) but strong, with pretty decent sized muscles >:)

She's a clumsy, chaotic dumbass who has has a tendency to make jokes at the wrong moments (dark jokes are her specialty). She's very messy, always loses stuff and forgets things, and is constantly getting bugged by Janine to clean up her dorm area whilst Sam gets the blame for "being a bad influence" on her. She can be fierce but is extremely loyal, and would literally d i e for her friends.

She's sweet on Sam, but would never admit it, despite everyone's growing frustrations as they can all DEFINTLEY. TELL.

Loves the rain, storms, all of it. Often at night time she'll run around Abel, eventually climbing onto the roof of the biggest building and just tipping her head to the sky. She'll sit there for hours on her own. It helps her deal with stuff, and she likes the feeling of being so high.

Five is really helpful and is always known around Abel to be around if anyone needs anything, whether it's help with a chore, a problem, advice, anything! Overtime, it does tend to affect her longterm, although she doesn't like admitting it. Five never puts her mental health first and is constantly having to be reminded to take care of herself, despite her trying her hardest to push it aside to make sure she can help others first. She can get pretty sarcastic, but is a lot of fun and is always up for anything! She usually copes with her trauma or problems using humour, despite the growing concern about it from her friends.

-WILL COMMIT CRIME WHENEVER NECESSARY-

Before the apocalypse, Five had a thing where she never really let people touch her, even just hugging. She didn't know why she did it, but it made her feel really wrong, which caused a lot of issues and isolation from everyone else, especially with family. But after moving to Abel and getting close and comfy with her new family, she finally found that she was really okay being around people again. Play fighting, piggybacks, general touching, hugging, you name it! For the most part, she was good with it again. In fact, the more compressing the hug, the better. (This only goes for her closer friends. She's still not completely used to physical contact, and will often cringe away from people if they try anything) Five doesn't like to admit it, but she sleeps with a "cuddle companion" every night, which she will literally squeeze very tightly to simulate safety in her own bubble 😅 (wow I'm really outing myself rn huh)

THIS BABY CAN FIT SO. MUCH. TRAUMA.

So yeah! Jokes aside, that's my Five so far. As soon as I post this, I'm probably going to realise I forgot something and I'll quickly edit it in later...

But uh, I really appreciate this fandom, and I'm super excited to see where this goes. I'm loving how no one makes fun of anyone for self inserting, their ships or opinions on the app and the missions, because I've always felt so weird about doing it in things I love, but this game is literally MADE around the player, which gives for really good and unique content (sorry I'm mentioning this a lot) I live for everyone's different art styles, memes, and just general support of each other. I really look forward to posting more on here and sharing my things, even though it's probably old news to a lot of you!

As I said before, I'm just starting out season 2, so I know I have a lot more to go to catch up to a lot of y'all, but from some spoilers I couldn't help but read I'm very pumped to keep going!

Shiloh got a tattoo blacked out on her neck, but that would have been $50, but she raised $3,000 then abandoned you guys. Real smart investment on you guys’ part. [Shiloh cheating story, pathological liar.] - Sarah got tens of thousands of dollars from you guys. He has no idea where that went. - He doesn’t blame you guys because he fell for their lies too. When you have someone who pretends to be a victim and they start a gofundme and you never see where the money goes you have to blame yourself for falling for it. He doesn’t know if there was a gofundme for Billie. There was a Venmo for Sarah from what he was told.  - Another person making bank is Regina. Regina is using this drama to get plastic surgery. The motive is obviously money and clout. - Regina was just Kai’s friend when he was 17 or 18. Kai had to stop talking to Regina because they had a huge drug problem. Apparently there is a huge drug epidemic going on but Greg stays in his house a lot so he doesn’t see this. He guesses a lot of people watching are drug addicts and that’s why they are going to dislike the video. People who do drugs are the shittiest. It’s pathetic. He’s not down with the high life or alcoholism. He’s straight edge. - Sarah accused them of getting her drunk. He says that obviously didn’t happen. He questions if she even accused them, says he doesn’t really know what’s going on. If Sarah said something, they got little fireballs for Christmas and she asked if she could have one. Greg told her she’s an adult and he can’t stop her. He thinks she took one. That was in December so they were just friends.  - You guys are so gullible. He doesn’t know why people gave a commentator money who profits off using Greg’s name. He can’t get views when he makes videos on other thinks. You gave him $20,000 on top of everything else he’s earning? You morons. He can’t believe you guys are so retarded. - Every time he goes on twitter he’s called a pedo. Where’s the kids? Pedos are attracted to pre-pubescent children. An 18 1/2 year old on not a pre-pubescent child . [Mind blown gesture.] They can join the military and die for their country. Getting a bullet to your head is more offensive than getting a dick to your butt. None of you are offended by people joining the military because you’re all hypocrites. [Talks about his sex life with Sarah again, NDA, blackmailed, imagine is the roles were reversed] - The other day Billy the Fridge told Greg no one would actually get arrested for selling prescription pills. Greg says people get arrested all the time for doing that. People are selective about what crimes they care about. The only crime Greg ever committed was speeding on the highway. The victims committed crimes, fraud. They are making up stories to take your money. They are making actual victims look worse. The case with Hansen will hurt all actual victims. [Don’t talk about your investigation publicly rant.] He knows how investigations work because he was a cop in the US Air Force.  - He says Chris Hansen wears his gay-ass turtleneck. He apologizes and says he’s gay because he’s married to a trans man. He changes it to straight-ass turtleneck. [He impersonates Chris giving an interview.] Says Chris is in a downward spiral into creepy dead meme status. - [He lists things Shiloh, Billie, and Sarah did that he thinks is illegal. All stuff he’s said multiple times before.] - As far as he knows people aren’t accusing him of sending stuff but they’re accusing Kai. They all say the evidence was conveniently deleted. You fucking idiots gave these people tens of thousands of dollars with no proof. That’s instant karma.

- Greg was told someone quoted Socrates, “when someone loses they resort to slander.” That’s rich coming from somebody accusing him of assaulting 12 women. [He goes into acting out an interview where the interviewer leads the interviewee into admitting they were uncomfortable once so the interviewer could add them to the victims list to fit their agenda.] [You don’t publicly talk about an investigation rant again.] - He calls Chris senile. He tells viewers to go to news.google.com and type in “Chris Hansen” to see his history. [He lists Chris’ financial issues and divorce again.] - [Kai threatened to leave him, he just wants to defend himself.] - Says if you’re paying attention you’re probably horrified by how much of a scumbag Chris Hansen is. There was a person who blacked out their face, but you can brighten it up and see who they are. Greg doesn’t know who they are. He’s seeing people’s faces for the first time in the interviews and he doesn’t know who they are. They sit there and say things happened. It’s horrifying what people do for fame.  - Says Hailee was in her 20′s and she talked about how much she loved Kai. Greg told her he had no problem with her dating Kai and he doesn’t have to be in the relationship. That was the last thing he said to her and she turned it into a whole thing. He never met her, only texted about her dating Kai. Now she’s some kind of super victim. She acted like she was involved in their lives. - People are making the leap that because he dated someone who was 17 1/2, he’s into 6 year olds. They keep using the word pedo like it’s candy. He is disgusted by children and think they have no value, except when it’s a parental role kids are important and you treasure them. He doesn’t want to be around other people’s kids. He doesn’t understand how anyone is attracted to a child. [He compares himself to Jared from subway to prove he’s not a pedo.] - If you’re 13-15 you’re a moron. He doesn’t like 16 and 17 year olds because they make him uncomfortable. 18 and 19 make him a little uncomfortable. The law where he lives the age of consent is 16 but he prefers 18+. He wants to know what it’s like to date someone 35 or older. The poly thing is out the window now so he has to wait until Kai is 35 to find out. There is something attractive with maturity and experience. - When you go on porn sites you see a lot of teenager stuff so there is a huge obsession with people who are least likely to produce down syndrome babies. Tells viewers to google the ages of people who produce down syndrome babies. 18 is the smallest chance and 35 becomes a 50/50 chance as well as other defects. So when someone is attracted to 18 & 19 year olds, they’re attracted to people who are at the premium age for breeding. That is scientific. People like to SJW shame people who are attracted to people who are 18 & 19. If you want to be outraged by science, fine. - He says he’s more of a 19 - 24+ person. He wants to see what it’s like to be with a 50 or 40 year old. [He goes on about what it would be like dating a 40 year old and calling her your “auntie”.] At one point they were thinking about dating a 30-something year old, but it didn’t work out. He regrets it because it would have helped him avoid douchebags. He corrects himself and says just Sarah. He doesn’t think Billie’s a douchebag. He says he only says that because Billie’s so pretty and isn’t mentally disabled like Sarah. - He tells viewers to google Mike Morse on news.google.com. [Vincent fired, outed Chris on FB.] Anon Gene said Greg was a predator then posted address. Greg asks if he’s trying to get someone to murder him. [Chris is a creepy old scumbag. Not a journalist.] Chris was standing uninvited in Greg’s driveway saying Greg was a predator and a sicko while standing next to Mike Morse, who was allegedly accused of groping women last year and was taken to court for it. Greg says Mike is clearly trying to do a redemption story. - Tells viewers to do their own research and stop being lemmings and sheeple.

Utopia/The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords: for me personally, this is where Doctor Who peaked. My absolute favorite storyline and episodes and team-up - my favorite Doctor with BOTH my favorite companions in an episode with my favorite Master as the enemy. Amazing. There was a time when I would regularly rewatch this, just these three

Turn Left/The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End:Suuuch a satisfying conclusion for a four series plotline, all of the companions coming together like that? It was so good

The Lodger & Closing Time: I love Craig and I love how these two episodes switch things up!

Favourite season/book/movie: Rather obviously, series 3 - the return of Jack, the series where Martha is the companion, a series with my favorite Doctor and four of my favorite episodes in it!

Favourite quotes:THE ANGELS HAVE THE PHONE BOX! xD And the wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff! I got that one on a necklace even! *laughs*

Best musical moment: uuurgh the soundtrack of this show is actually so good? I listened to it on a loop for years. Series 3 and 4 being my favorites, they make you feel things, man.

Moment that made you fangirl/boy the hardest: Just this series when Jack returned. And let me elaborate to just convey how hard I fangirled at that, because it wasn’t just “oh a fave!”.

You see, Jack is... kind of why I’m here? I watched the first series with my mother back when it started airing in Germany. But they kind of... stopped dubbing it and it stopped airing in Germany and eh, I was okay with it because this show seemed weird like they just switched out the actor of the MAIN CHARACTER who does that what the fuck and I really liked Jack but he was gone now too so oh well.

However, then I read online about how Jack was in series 3. So... I went online and Doctor Who is genuinely the first TV show I ever watched in English, because I wanted to see Jack but there was no dub.

Then series 3 ended and both Jack and Martha left and I was very meh because I remembered that this is the show that constantly replaces its whole cast.

You can probably guess what happened next, but Jack was in the finale of series 4. So I went back into Doctor Who, rewatched what there has been so far all the way up to the series 4 finale - and that was when I was sold, because holy shit even with the switching of companions, they just bring them back! They just brought them all back! That was such a good pay-off.

Ironically, that was when I actually stuck around and started watching the show in real time instead of waiting for the next Jack appearance to bring me back from hibernation. Ironically because - well, that was the last we saw of anyone. (Aside from 10 in the 50 year special.)

That hard, hard cut from 10 to 11, no return of any companions...

Needless to say that when 12 came and went with no care for anything pre-11, I kind of... came to accept that this was it. Especially when they announced yet another hard cut - as in Moffat would finally be replaced and with the new era, both a new Doctor and new companions - I was so sure we’d never get to see anyone from the old crew again.

So when, after literally ten years, Jack Harkness returned and was so... so... Jack, I made the loudest, most unholy sound and the excitement of them actually acknowledging that he would be back for more and he would be there when the Doctor needs him? Tears of joy.

When it really disappointed you:YOU’RE MAKING A 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL. YOU HAVE SOOO MANY GOOD COMPANIONS. BUT. BUT YOU BRING NONE OF THEM BACK. ONLY ROSE TYLER’S FACE. OF ALL OF THE FACES. Saddest moment: When 10 regenerated

Most well done character death: Surprisingly enough, this show makes me care even about the one episode characters to the degree that I find their deaths frustrating. It’s pretty good at character deaths overall

Favourite guest star: Does Craig Owens count? Because he only had two appearances in total. And the second one was genuinely a surprise to me; I was sure that The Lodger would be a stand-alone, never to be seen again kind of deal

Favourite cast member: John Barrowman! David Tennant! Freema Agyeman! I love all three of them and seeing them in other things always makes me really happy!

Character you wish was still alive: I mean, Bill. Can you imagine if the lesbian companion had gotten to meet 13?? Death :D

One thing you hope really happens: Martha. I mean, come on. Jack is back, Jack warned the Doctor, promised to be there when needed. There’s no way Jack lost contact with Martha and Mickey, even with those two off in space fighting aliens alone. I’d love for this... very, very big plotline that is currently happening to include the Doctor’s old friends coming back once more to help.

Most shocking twist: I mean... I mean it’s gotta be this series’ Surprise Origin Story. Like, I still can’t quite comprehend that one.

When did you start watching/reading?: As mentioned above, when it first started airing in Germany

Best animal/creature: Does the TARDIS count as a creature? Because then Sexy wins!

Favourite location: THE TARDIS. I wish they’d show it more often just casually. I wanna see the companions hang out in there, I wanna see their rooms, see that indoor pool and stuff

Trope you wish they would stop using: "OH NO THE DALEKS ARE STILL ALIVE AFTER THE LAST TIME I TRIED GENOCIDE ON THEM *gasp*”... Like. The very first time they brought them “back from the dead”, it was really cool because as a newbie you never met them before but you get they are important. Then they were wiped out. And then they returned again. And okay, sure. So they were wiped out again. And miraculously survied again.

Look, I get it. Doctor Who has three recurring entities in the villain gallery who are like... obligatory - the Master, the Daleks and the Cybermen. But for the love of everything, stop trying to show it as a “surprise twist” that the bad guy is a Dalek like we all knew they’re coming they’re the cockroaches of the universe, they ALWAYS surprise, stop acting like we should be shocked that they’re back again.

Every time, the Doctor goes Pikachu meme but with sad eyes and like just... have the Doctor groan, kick a Dalek and go “not you again”, instead of “how did you POSSIBLY survive THIS? :O” because after the sixth miracuous survival of a genocide, it stops being a surprise twist... -_-

One thing this show/book/film does better than others: Clearly something, because it has me come back for more like a masochist despite me being a character-driven viewer - me, abandoning the show after the first series was very in character, because I’m attached to characters and if you routinely replace all the characters, that’s... not really my thing. Somehow, this show defies the odds there

Funniest moments: JACK FLIRTING WITH PEOPLE AND THE DOCTOR GOING “NO STOP THAT!” xDDD

Couple you would like to see: NONE. NO ROMANCE. KEEP THAT SHIT OUT OF MY DW!!! Urgh. Just give me fun found family space adventures. Most boring plotline: Boring, huh? There are always a couple stinkers, at least one in each series, but a really boring plotline was... Clara’s post-Impossible-Girl one. I LOVED her as the Impossible Girl, she was so interesting and I think that after she went into the Doctor’s timeline, the character should have been retired. Have her, I don’t know, dissolve there, since she is spread out through time. But that she stuck around was... not good, for her character? Her love drama with Danny was incredibly boring and not fun to watch (especially when she tried to kill the Doctor :D)

Most laughably bad moment: THAT FUCKING MOON EPISODE. THE FUCKING EPISODE WHERE THE FUCKING MOON TURNED INTO A FUCKING EGG AND AN ALIEN HATCHED TO THEN LAY A NEW MOON EGG IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING BORN AND HUMANS JUST FUCKING SHRUGGED THAT SHIT OFF. Urgh. There are a lot of cringey things happening on this show, but this takes by far the crown. It was so stupid, so dumb, so ridiculous

Because the only one ever even mentioned is the Doctor’s granddaughter Susan, but a granddaughter implies one more generation between. WHERE IS JENNY? Coffee mugs I think.  I have a pretty big collection of those.

Hmmmm, I think hardworking and sweet came up a lot?  I was very much a teacher’s pet and the perfectionist anxiety set in early lol so I was a busy, over-achieving bee.

It’s all in the time.  I get attached to people pretty easy as long as they’re nice and we can goof around, have fun, and talk about whatever.  So putting time in to hang out means a lot to me.

Hmmm, being deep in forests feels sacred to me so there are certain waterfall hikes in the smokey mountains and along the blue ridge parkway and in Hawaii that seem very special to me.  And then disney world and disneyland will always have a sacredness to them for me because they’ve meant so much to me and the happiness it brings people is pretty magical.

Some kids in elementary did something weird in the trees behind our school because the teachers weren’t watching them (I never knew exactly what it was but it was Bad tm) but the teachers didn’t know exactly who it was so they punished the whole grade and we were forced to only play kickball during recess for like 7 months and it was the worst.  It’s not exactly weird per say but I always found it wild that the only conceivable thing they could think to do to solve this problem was force a bunch of scrawny, socially awkward, miserable children to play ground baseball with a permanently half-deflated rubber ball.

Fitting everything in.  Days just don’t feel long enough and social situations plus school stuff always get to me but I’m doing okay.

They’re always a bit dry and on the warmish side but they’re pretty good.

Have never had a job job but I volunteered in a library for like three years and it taught me to enjoy the details, slow down and enjoy the quiet, simple tasks, appreciate really excited kids, and try to help people whenever I can.

Aladdin or beauty and the beast I suppose?  I like that there’s multiple ways to interpret those stories and that they can be played with in some fun ways because they’re such interesting concepts by themselves.

How cities all over the world string up lights on things in the winter.  It means something different to everyone and some do it and some don’t which is totally fine, but this idea of lighting up the world during the bleakest month, and how some people go all out with colors and patterns and synced to music, and how everyone does it a bit different, and how entire cities are just smothered in lights means a lot to me.  I think it’s a very cool and very human thing to do.

57. the three biggest struggles you’ve overcome?

The tough year before my family moved, getting through my really intense anxiety years where I couldn’t travel in cars for more than fifteen minutes without throwing up, and my month away at art school.

Hmmm, I guess I’m pretty proud of my writing ability, my singing voice, my art skills, and my ability to talk to anyone.

Ok so this is going to be a wildly unpopular opinion that you will wholeheartedly disagree w Anna, but here goes

I kinda hope they phase BC out of the MCU. Im not one of these fans that wants him to fail or to vanish forever or will never see another project until he leaves sophie (i don’t think thats ever going to happen). I just don’t think he fits w the MCU anymore and he is kinda, to me, a bummer stain on an otherwise fun experience.

The actors in the MCU are literally the only actors I’ve ever taken a mild interest in outside of their movie roles. Meaning i won’t immediately change the channel if they are on late night, or I might flip through a mag if they are in there, or im actually interested in their thoughts on their char.

The actors in the MCU, for the most part, are super engaging. They engage the fan base in  a really great way. Now granted, I get it, lots of that is coaching etc, I get that. However, the actors all engage w the material and the fanbase in a really great way. they have lovable personalities, they all seem humble and grateful and excited to be there. Even RDJ who plays on this kinda ego centric char he has is totally endearing and everyone gets it. They make the fan base feel like they are all a part of something, everyone is in it together, they genuinely want everyone to have a great time, they get how much these stories can mean to a lot of people.

Now im sure someone can pull up an anecdote here or there where MCU actors have not been their best selves, but for the most part, MCU actors make the fanbase feel loved and valued. MCU fans are not talked down to by them. Each actor has a unique and lovable personality that is engaging

BC sticks out like a sore thumb. He isn’t delivering DRS and MCU toys to hospitals, he doesn’t have social media, so he isn’t engaging w elements of the fanbase that does charity work. He doesn’t talk excitedly about DRS and MCU projects, he doesn’t comment on fan art and projects in a respectful way (ignoring the freakier ones). Now i know the dusted actors were not doing the rounds media wise, but still

Ben just comes off as someone who thinks he is above all that. All i see and think about when i think about BC and MCU fans is a guy who is just so sick of fans. Fans are all obsessed w him and won’t they go away. anyone who doesn’t worship him and dares to chat in a neg way about what he is putting out is a stalker, florals, they are all so tiring! poor, poor women who lost themselves when he married, your uteruses still have use w out him! he just seems like he doesn’t want to be there and is delusional about how much people care about him beyond gossip and riling each other up for fun

To me BC is in a totally different category from the other main MCU actors. BC is running around to the MET gala acting a fool, Ben is running around too busy trying to sell every single stitch of clothing on his body. ben is too busy branding and selling his family. ben is trying to wring every last red cent out of every move he makes.

And before anyone jumps down my throat w a long list of products MCU actors sell, I KNOW. its about the feel of it.

Ben these days comes off as a stuck up, toffy snob who doesn’t want to be there. Ben comes off as someone who has disdain for his fans, and while he def wants them to keep him and his wife in expensive vegan clothing and millionaire status, they need to just shut the fuck  up and hand over the cash. Ben comes off as someone who is entitled to fame and attention, but on his terms. Ben comes off as someone desperate to merch and brand himself. Ben comes off as someone waaaay more concerned at the moment w selling every single article of clothing he and his wife has, every single life event he can get a sponsor for.

His image is a bummer ink stain on the MCU. He is like the stuck up boring cousin at the fun family reunion who spends his whole time pouting on his phone. the only time he engages is when he is the absolute centre of attention, and he has to be making cash money off of it or he isn’t interested. he is like that one person at school who won’t shut up about how many haters they have and how jealous everyone is of them, and how he just wants to do him, meanwhile no one is actually thinking about him like that.

Think of any MCU actor and you can think of cute, funny, humble, joyful, REAL feeling fan engagement.

W BC you just get a grown ass man whining, pouting, doesn’t want to be there, would rather be selling shoes and shirts and hats

as a fan i have absolutely no interest in him as an MCU actor. Well, you’re right in one regard JT.  I wholeheartedly disagree with all of the above.  Not because I’m contrary and a SkeptoNanny (which of course I am), but because you’re wrong  :P

Ben didn’t do ANY promo for Endgame, so if we’re going to talk about him being a killjoy during promo for MCU projects, we have to revisit what he’s done during Doctor Strange and Infinity War promo.

And while, yes, he did make a faux pas (a pretty major one) with that incredibly stupid quote on his Vanity Fair cover interview where he thought it wise to casually mention his wife and child are not a PR stunt, other than that, his promo tour for Doctor Strange was pretty much the same as any other promo for a standalone superhero movie within the MCU.  

And then there was Infinity War promo, which was more about promoting the MCU than it was about promoting himself.  I would argue that he actually did a stellar job with that.  He even brought quite a bit of DorkyBatch out to play:

So yeah.  If we’re going to have a serious conversation, we have to be very precise about the timing of what Ben says and does; especially when it comes to MCU promo.

Meanwhile, since you brought up charity projects linked to the MCU, let me remind you that Ben has been involved with those multiple times, through Omaze, and he even did it for Endgame (which he supposedly would have no part in and didn’t really have to do, because his character had already been dusted out of existence).

By the way, the shoes he’s selling are not always vegan.  Not the ones he wore to the MET Gala (LINK) anyway  :P

It escaped my corner of pseudonym-based AO3-centric fandom and has made the rounds of the Sherlockian scions on Facebook, as well as being rec’d on non-fannish websites in French, German, and Japanese. For a little while there it was making me anxious with how popular it got -- at the height of its popularity, I was worrying my mom was going to email it to me. After it hit it big I almost completely stopped making things for a while, because I was pretty sure that nothing else I made would be even half that good ever again. Happily, that turned out to be a stupid reason to not make things, and so I started making things again.

Favorite Story You Wrote/Vid You Made: Yeah, sorry, no, my brain burns out on “favorite” questions, especially ones that have no criteria. I’ll just refer you to my Fic/Vid Speed-Dating Score Card, which can be construed as a list of my favorite works on various axes, and is still fairly accurate despite being a year old. (Scariest nowadays is probably “Tea for Two,” a Moriarty-centric story from this last round of Holmestice.)

Story You Were Nervous to Post: “Any Service Required,” which is dark Bush/Hornblower porn. I always feel hideously exposed when publishing porn -- I’m nervous about posting it even in the best of cases. But what with this being dark-fic, I was half-expecting the self-appointed morals police who get prescriptive about “healthy” relationships to show up and make a stink. Or along similar lines, I was fearing that followers who are used to a certain kind of thing from me will look at this one, think it base trash, and lose respect for me over it. I’m happy to say that nothing like that has happened so far, and while readership has been light, I’m fine with that: I’d rather a story have a small readership who is genuinely into it than a large readership who isn’t, and I’d like to believe that this story’s small readership is mostly due to people taking a look at the tags and making good decisions about the kind of thing they enjoy reading. 

How Do You Choose Your Titles: BY ANY MEANS I CAN MAKE WORK. My preference is to grab a meaningful phrase from the text, but I’ll also use quotes and popular phrases, sometimes straight-up and sometimes with a twist, if it seems a decent fit for the story. Ideally, a title will speak to some deeper truth about the story, but when push comes to shove, I’ll settle for a title that is short, clean, and memorable: basically, anything that I and others can remember without having to look it up all the damn time. (This is my main problem with people using lines of poetry or song lyrics as titles: they tend to register in my brain as generic word salad, and in many cases I couldn’t say without looking it up what the title actually was, let alone what it had to do with the story.)

Do You Outline: For long or complex stories, sure, yes. If there are many scenes or multiple chapters, I tend to jot down a few lines listing out the succession of scenes or chapters; for “The Next World,” whose main body is a long and rambly conversation, I had an outline that listed out every twist and turn of that convo. The outline for “Langstroth on Bees” (WIP, currently 58K) is a monster of a thing, listing out the internal timeline (five years of current action plus another ten of backstory), various promises I’ve made that I need to deliver on, assorted events that I want to remember to include, and rough ideas about where chapter breaks should maybe fall. Given that I’ve been working on that story for five years now, often with breaks from it of nearly a year, that outline has saved my ass. I guarantee you that without it, I would have picked up this story at some point, tried to remember where I was going with it, come up with nothing much, and shelved it permanently. If anything, I really should outline more often -- I have a few long-standing drafts in my WIP folder that I just... don’t remember where I was going with that. I remember that I did have a destination in mind, yes, but what exactly? WHO KNOWS. Btw, my outlines are living documents -- I revise them often, as my understanding of the story develops. In fact, revising the outline is one of many tools for understanding where a story is going and what is still needed to bring it together.

Complete: 92 stories or story collections (I have a few AO3 “stories” that are actually collected ficlets from tumblr or Sherlock60), and 26 vids and vidlets, 

In-Progress: Nothing published to AO3 -- it makes me crazy to have a partially-published WIP. My drafts folder has 36 partially completed stories in it, and there are probably a half-dozen vids that I started but haven’t finished.

Coming Soon: Four? For various values of “coming soon.” I have two Hornblower stories that are mostly done (one for the Tegmore verse and another for the Kraken verse), and I’ve been working steadily on “Langstroth on Bees” in the hopes that I’ll finish it this year. And I’m signed up for Remix Revival -- whatever I do for that will probably be the very-most-next thing.

Do You Accept Prompts: Yes! Although I have only a 1/3 to 1/2 completion rate on prompts -- I do hope that no one minds that too terribly! But I’ll actively solicit prompts from time to time -- to celebrate something, or if I’m having a shit day and want to turn it around -- and some of my best stuff has come from prompts people have given me. I never ever guarantee filling them (see my above mentioned completion rate), but if someone wants to prompt me something, my ask box is open. Even if the prompt never gets filled, I still get a warm flutter of “They want to play with me!” from it.

Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: “Langstroth on Bees,” a 58K-and-counting Holmes/Watson retirement fic that I’ve been working for five years. I added a solid 13K to it this month, and have maybe 20K left to go -- I’m hope-hope-hoping to have it done this year. But I’ve gotten far enough into it that “Langstroth” has finally begun overlapping the territory covered in “From Allegany,” and by the end of this chapter I’ll have passed it entirely. Then I’ll be in unwritten territory, wheee! (Speaking of titles, I never really intended to call this thing “Langstroth on Bees” -- that’s just a working title for my drafts folder. But enough of you now know it by that name that I think I’m going to have to stick with it? So I’m desperately trying to figure out how to justify it. ONE OF MANY THINGS TO DO IN THIS DRAFT.)

Live-blogging The Hobbit

Since I said I’d talk about how much I love Bilbo.

Also, live-blogging might be a generous description. A report from the brim every few chapters, maybe.

Might be annoying to my current followers, but they’d do well to remember this is how I got most of them, even if the live-blogging was for a different fandom. 

Now, to start! The first two chapters!

An Unexpected Party

The very first page, with the description of Bag End, had me doing a lot of double takes, mostly because of things I already thought I knew because of, you know, osmosis, so it went a bit like:

 “the hobbit was fond of visitors” ????? Didn’t Bilbo use the One Ring specifically to avoid unwanted visitors? 

However big you thought Bag End was, you’ll have to guess again. The most generous illustration probably got the size wrong. It not only has multiple bedrooms (not enough for all of the dwarves, though), it has wardrobes (rooms dedicated to clothes), and kitchens, and dining rooms.

“most Bagginses were rich” Clearly the best use for their money would have been to redistribute it, but are you trying to tell me some of them weren’t and the rest just said it was none of their business?

The fact that the Bagginses are described as reliable/predictable and Bungo doesn’t get much personal description while Belladonna, of the Took clan, outstanding/odd, does get further insight into her place in her family and is described as both famous and remarkable? *kisses fingers like chef*

Like, up till now, the only description he personally gets is, like, “Bungo, that was Bilbo’s father, built the most luxurious hobbit-hole for her (and partly with her money)” and it’s still a description of Belladonna because the paragraph’s about her still, you can tell because, even though in the last sentence Bungo was the subject, Bilbo is still referred as “her” son.

Also fitting because Bilbo’s arc is about accepting his heritage from both parts of his family, and we’re about to get into how much of a Baggins he is, so extra emphasis into the Took side will be good for the next few chapters.

So, it says Gandalf last visited before the Old Took died, which was in S.R. 1320, when Bilbo was 30, a.k.a. 20 years before. While Gandalf is definitely remarkable enough, given the time lapse, I can forgive Bilbo for forgetting about his appearance. My reasons are that my own memory begins to get blurry about faces some five minutes after someone’s gone out of my sight.

“‘Good Morning!’ said Bilbo, and he meant it.” [to Gandalf]“‘All of them at once,” said Bilbo. “[...] If you have a pipe about you, sit down and have a fill of mine! [tobacco]’” and I’m going to skip a bit here, [to Dwalin] “‘I am just about to take tea; pray come and have some with me.’ A little stiff perhaps, but he meant it kindly.” Just... he’s so nice? Often in interpretations of the Shire and of Bilbo himself, when hobbits are nice it’s a matter of politeness for its own sake, as a ritual, but he’s so earnest? It’s really politeness as a kindness, as it should be. The only times this isn’t the case is when, after Gandalf reveals he’s looking for a fellow adventurer, when he just shit-talks adventures and looks at his mail hoping Gandalf will just go away instead of telling him himself... until he gets tired and does so. Then later when he gathers from Balin that a lot of people might be showing up and you can sense some reluctance in his decision to go without, and a focus on duty. And last as the night goes on and the dwarves keep being rude af. 

Also, I once saw someone wonder why Gandalf would mention Belladonna in the movie when he supposedly knew the Old Took, and someone said it was just to make the connection more direct, son->mother, instead of son->mother->grandfather. Well,

Read ‘em and weep.

A funny thing about the book is the narration. It’s supposed to be Bilbo’s account, just compiled by Tolkien, right? So, Bilbo’s descriptions, meaning how he is described, are noteworthy. Admittedly, I don’t read autobiographies, so I don’t know what’s a common way to describe yourself in third person, but this narrator is kinda... distant from Bilbo? In that you don’t get the sense he’s writing the story. He’s at once roasted relentlessly and praised, mocked and defended. All in all it’s an affectionate voice, although one that feels the need to go “listen, I know how this all looks and that you doubt him now (and honestly? same), but he’s a pretty cool guy, once you get to know him.”

“Bless me, life used to be quite inter-- I mean, you used to upset things badly in these parts once upon a time.” Lmao

“Very amusing for me, very good for you” - Gandalf about sending Bilbo to his death.

Bilbo, to Gandalf: “Come tomorrow!”

Bilbo, to himself: “what”

Himself, to Bilbo: “I also don’t want me to be doing what I’m doing.”

Strange dwarf (with a blue beard?): *basically pushes his way into Bilbo’s house*. Bilbo: ............... wanna eat?

“The poor little hobbit sat down in the hall and put his head in his hands, and wondered what had happened, and what was going to happen, and whether they would all stay to supper.” Hero. Those are appropriate priorities. Meanwhile, there’s people waiting for him to open the door lmao.

*banging at Bag End’s door with a stick instead of ringing the bell* 

Bilbo: who’s the fucking beast.

“Bilbo sat on a stool by the fireside, nibbling at a biscuit (his appetite was quite taken away), trying to look as if this was all perfectly ordinary and not in the least an adventure.” They [the Valar] can’t see you if you don’t move.

I like how “Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold” is about both the gold and treasure and the sheer history, represented by song. Yes, the lyrics are mostly about the treasure, but the book itself says it can barely be called a song without the music. The dwarves’ work is talked about without equating it with their craft, but more as a cultural activity that builds identity, again, like songs. They’re mentioned both in the context of being sung deep in the mountain, only for dwarves ears. This comes to a head later, when the last line says “to win our harps and gold from him!” From this, I’ve reached the conclusion that dwarves don’t just want the Mountain for the economic benefits, but because of the sense of cultural identity, represented by songs and harps, that they lost along with Erebor. I’m sure this isn’t surprising in general, or a new reading of dwarves in general, or even a new reading of the song in particular, but I just wanted to put it out there.

I like how immersed in, well, everything Bilbo has been up to now. I get this feeling of constant movement in the inside from him. Every smoke ring fascinates him, and every suggestion of adventure appalls him, and everything that happens is the best and worst thing that’s ever happened to him, not (just) because of his (sometimes, this doesn’t happen that much) exaggerated reactions, but the time he takes to tell us his feelings and thoughts about things. 

Also, him being snapped out of his adventurous daze by a sudden fear for his home (comfort), A+ Baggins/Took conflict.

“I want these dwarves to think I could fuck someone up, which is made all the easier by my desire to fuck them up”

“As soon as I saw your funny faces in the door-step, I had my doubts.” Bilbo that’s racist.

Gandalf is like that meme of the driver who’s threatening to turn the car around because his children are being rowdy, only instead he insists he will not turn the car around no matter how much they beg.

I don’t know if this is the I’ve Watched The Movie Where He Was A Main Character Syndrome talking, but I’m feeling much more compassionate towards Thotin this time around.

I noticed what I’d written the moment I finished the word, but this is too fucking hilarious to correct.

Bilbo: “uhh, five feet high is pretty noticeable for a door”

Tolkien: you’ll have to forgive him, he was born with dumb bitch disease. The buffoon. The absolute animal.

Also, “He loved maps, and in his hall, there hung a large one of the Country Round with all his favourite walks marked in it with red ink.” In this house we love one (1) nerd.

Kinda reminds me of that post about the fae who’ve learned how to tell the truth in a very specific way so it will be misunderstood being flabbergasted by someone who just comes up to them and lies.

I love how Sting is supposed to be just as special as Orcrist and Glamdring, yet the narration makes such a small deal of it. It’s clear from the start it’s of the same make as them because, although it’s not mentioned along with them at first (which makes sense, since it’s sheath’s not as pretty, Thorin and Gandalf’s taking of the swords isn’t even separated from Bilbo’s by a stop, just a semicolon, yet it doesn’t get a second though.

I like how in the movie it’s all Gandalf: “Imladris” Bilbo: *delighted gasp* “Rivendell” while in the book it’s Gandalf: “Rivendell” Bilbo: “Where’s that?” Gandalf: “Don’t interrupt!”

So that’s that! Don’t know if I should stick to doing it like this, every two or so chapters, or every chapter as soon as I finish, or try to do my impressions as I go and then publish them when I’m done, because this actually took me longer than I thought it would.

01) favorite game of the series?

Inquisition. I hadn't played Origins or DA2 in so long, I had practically forgotten they existed. I had gotten out of gaming for a long time, until I finally caved when I moved away, and got into Skyrim. I played so much I literally maxed out my levelling, and was starting to get bored...which made me sad. Inquisition not only rekindled my love for Dragon Age, it brought out more fresh inspiration to my creativity overall, and that in turn has improved my life,

02) how did you discover Dragon Age?

I played Origins and DA2 at friends' houses when I was in school, but while I enjoyed them, I wasn't in a place in my life where I could appreciate them. Then I was telling my amazing baby-brother-in-law about how sad I was that Skyrim was feeling stale to me, and he told me to play Inquisition. I was speculative at first, because I was so in love with Skyrim's open-world format and lack of any real Good +/- Evil alignment...but once I got past the Intro, I felt so immersed and so connected to the characters, that now Skyrim feels a little empty in comparison (though I do still love it)

03) how many times you’ve played the games?

Origins and DA2, only once each. Inquisition & its DLCs, 6 times all the way through.

04) favorite race to play as?

Elves. It's a bit embarrassing, but I'm an Elf Person. Though I'm sure it hasn't been obvious at all.

05) favorite class?

ROGUE!!! Especially dual-weild 😍 Mage is super fun too, though, ngl

06) do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time.

NGL It depends on which character I'm playing as, mostly. I also base new decisions based on the effects of decisions in past play thrus and how they played out. If I'm contented with the results in respect to the character, I'll make the same decisions 😂

07) go-to adventuring group?

Solas, Iron Bull, and Dorian, though I rotate Varric and Cassandra in and out a lot, too.

08) which of your characters did you put the most thought into?

09) favorite romance?

Solas, because I enjoy torturing myself. Sera was cute, too. Cullen was fluffy and sweet, and was good for me after my first play thru with Solas. I was in a bad place after the first Solavellan go 'round, cried for weeks. It was not pretty 😂

10) have you read any of the comics/books?

First Flight and Masked Empire

11) if you read them, which was your favorite book?

Masked Empire, hands down. I don't know why, but I couldn't really get into First Flight? But Felassan in Masked Empire, are you kidding?! SWOON.

12) favorite DLCs?

Trespasser. I also love the Descent, especially for the lore! But the Deep Roads scare the ever-loving shit out of me, so I have to psych myself up before I can play it 😅 While I am hot for Ameridan, Jaws of Hakkon didn't really grab me.

13) things that annoy you?

To steal Gala's answer: "Not much. Mostly I get annoyed when parts of the fandom fixate on things that annoy them. That annoys me, because I’m here for the positive vibes, not the negative."

14) Orlais or Ferelden?

Ferelden for the people and culture, Orlais for the varying environments and the history.

16) if you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?

Halesta + Laleal Verse is technically the same Verse as Camber + Somber, since their stories converge, but their timelines are a little different. Ghani is Omniversal. She's in any and every Verse. She's in your Verse right now, and you don't even know it 🤫

17) what did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)

The dogs in Origins and DA2 were Bryna and Nilo, respectively. Halesta's horse is Da'assan and her little fox is Ghestlin ("lil monster")

18) have you installed any mods?

No...PS4 😟

19) did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?

Noooooo.

20) Hawke’s personality?

She's a spiteful, sarcastic bitch and I love her so much I can't even.

21) did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition?

Ahahaha, God no. I made armor for each companion that I thought fit their personalities.

22) if your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?

Oh God, uhh, I have no idea.

23) do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?

SO MANY. Felassan doesn't die, Halies's father is an Ancient Elvhen Sentinel, she is sent by Fel to kill Solas before he can get the Orb to Corypheus (she doesn't), she knows Solas is Fen'Harel, she saves the Orb from breaking but won't give it to Solas, is able to master the Orb and use the power of the Anchor without losing her arm (though it is severely scarred), etc. etc. ad nauseum.

Also, @galadrieljones , about the barefoot elves: I kinda like that they're barefooted! Though probably because I'm always barefooted 😅

24) are any of your character(s) based on someone?

Halesta's personality is based loosely on my mother combined with certain self-insert aspects of my bipolar disorder. Laleal is pretty much based on a combo of my best friend and my husband. Camber's personality is based a little more accurately on my Momma, and her relationship with Somber is based on mine with my own brother (though we're not twins) when we were younger (we're still close, but you know how things change sometimes with age and distance). And Ghani is just a straight-up personification of my depression and anxiety 😂

25) who did you leave in the Fade?

Stroud. I couldn't live with an alternative.

26) favorite mount?

While Halie has a horse she's very attached to in my fic/hc, I don't use mounts in-game. To quote Gala: "My party and I run around on foot like children and get eaten by bears like men."

4: how do you take your coffee/tea?

According to the coffee machine at work, I take my coffee as strong as possible and then add Irish Cream coffee creamer to it at about a 60:40 Coffee to Creamer ratio.

8: what artistic medium do you use to express your feelings?

I’ve... never been good at art. I can’t draw, I have limited vocal range, and my sculpting skills are still in progress. But I can write. I can write very well according to quite a few people. So I guess my skill at prose is what I use to express my feelings when I put it into art.

12: what’s your favorite planet?

Kepler-442b - an exo planet that might even be habitable! My favorite planets are the ones that we can feasibly possibly terraform and colonize as we look towards the long distance future of our species. 

16: what’s your favorite pasta dish?

Give me some crab ravioli with a butternut squash vodka sauce any day of the week. 

20: what’s your favorite eye color?

I don’t particularly have a favorite. Everyone has wonderful eyes. 

24: is there someone out there you would trust with every single one of your secrets?

Multiple people in fact. @catacombhecatomb and @why-the-nightingale-sings come to mind first. 

28: sunrise or sunset?

Answered already - but Sunset. 

32: tell us a story of something that happened to you after 3AM when you were with friends.

Do you know what it’s like to wind up at Denny’s at 4 AM challenging your friends to do shots of maple syrup because you’ve lost all sense of reality? I do. 

36: which band’s sound would fit your mood right now?

I’ve been listening to a lot of Cryonic Temple recently which can loosely be described as uplifting power metal. Which is helpful in bolstering the spirits, and I’m feeling plenty bolstered right now.

40: think of a piece of jewelry you own: what’s it’s story? does it have any meaning to you?

I have a ring that I had inscribed with my astrological sign and a phrase I was told as a kid, so it’d be a constant reminder. The phrase was pretty simple - “Rise from every Fall” because I’ve had a rollercoaster of a life and every setback I’ve faced, I have to keep rising above. 

I don’t wear it anymore because it doesn’t fit, but it’s a good thing to keep a hold of. 

44: when was the last time you remember feeling completely serene and at peace with everything?

I thought about this one for a WHILE and I’m... not entirely sure I’ve ever felt completely serene. One of my good friends once called me out - “You don’t have a martyr complex, you have an Atlas complex.” referencing the Greek Titan holding up the world. And she’s right, I always am looking to do what I can to support others regardless of where my own emotional state is at. So I can’t ever be completely serene and at peace while people close to me that I care about aren’t. 

48: what was your biggest fear as a kid? is it the same today?

My biggest fear as a kid was heights. They were legitimately paralyzing. 

Now? Not so much. Still terrifying though, but I can override it and do stupid shit sometimes. That doesn’t stop those videos of people climbing sky scrapers and construction cranes with selfie sticks from causing the butthole to clench however.

52: what are your favorite memes of the year so far?

I’m torn between “Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.” because it can be applied to so many stupid things and the sort of “This meme is that meme which is really just THIS meme” thing people have been doing with the car swerving to a different lane and on the sign is the guy looking at some girl while his presumably girlfriend is going WTF, which is pasted into the Drake face which is pasted into John Mulaney going “No!” and “Yeah!” respectively. 

56: what are some things you find endearing in people?

If someone ever starts gushing about their favorite things and you see them go from “I’m being reserved about it” to “Listen did you know this and also this and what do you think about this?” as their eyes light up? That’s the best sort of thing.

60: do you like poetry? what are some of your faves?

I’ve always been partial to Matsuo Basho. But my favorite is “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night” by Dylan Thomas.

64: what color is the sky where you are right now?

Cloudy, inky blackness. It’s night time where I’m at and I’m in a city with lots of light pollution.

68: what’s winter like where you live?

Just the right temperature but not snowy enough. 

72: are you a person who needs to note everything down or else you’ll forget it?

I tend to be reliant on my memory to a fault, because I can and will forget things that I really shouldn’t forget.

76: is there anything you should be doing right now but aren’t?

Oh definitely but fuck it tonight is relaxing time by order of “My commute was hell and I need to unwind”. 

80: what color are your bedroom walls? did you choose that color? if so, why?

The ones here are off white because I’m not allowed to paint the apartment.

84: are you planning on getting tattoos? which ones?

Oh plenty. But the first one I’m gonna get is going to be my own personal coat of arms on my left shoulder that will form the basis of a sleeve that goes all the way down to my wrist. Over time, as I accomplish things, I’ll add more to it, till it’s a living tapestry of my life. 

88: are there any artistic movements you particularly enjoy?

I tend to be picky with my likes, so I tend not to keep to overarching movements.

92: are you a person who drowns their pasta in cheese or a person who barely sprinkles a pinch?

To quote one of my favorite characters from anything ever,

96: do you install your computer updates really quickly or do you procrastinate on them a lot?

I update at my own convenience but I never procrastinate. Updates tend to contain bugfixes, which are exceptionally important. 

100: if you were presented with two buttons, one that allows you to go 5 years into the past, the other 5 years into the future, which one would you press? why?

Neither. I am right where I need to be. There’s nothing that I’d want to change because I like where I’m at, and if I leave to go forward I’d miss on the times with the people I care about.
