Tumblr media
Today is the perfect day.
The sun is shining, birds are singing, the stars are aligned — nothing could ruin it, nothing can tarnish the best day of your life.
A beautiful white dress hangs on the wall of the dressing room while friends and family surround you, cleaning up your makeup and ensuring your hair is pristine for the big day. Butterflies fill your stomach as you are left alone to put on your dress, admiring yourself in the mirror. Music flows as you practically float toward the ceremony doors, patiently waiting for the queue to walk down the aisle, the final step before becoming a wife to the man of your dreams.
A voice breaks through your daydream, pulling you back into the reality you've been dreading to confront.
"You okay?" Uraraka's hand is placed gently atop yours on your thigh, a soft reminder of her support. She knows you're struggling to accept today's events and are dying to be anywhere else but here amongst other friends and family. A flicker of bravery allows you to look up at the altar, catching the last half of the vows being exchanged between Bakugo and his soon-to-be wife.
The woman who isn't you.
The one he met after your relationship and downgraded your importance in his life from "girlfriend" to "best friend." He insisted you were better off as friends, no matter how hard you pleaded for him to reconsider. You blame his agent for convincing him that marrying another pro-hero was better for his image than a nameless sidekick at his agency.
As the officiant announces the two of them as husband and wife, Bakugo spots you in the audience. It's impossible to hide your emotions in the moment, tears in your eyes with the fakest smile he's ever seen you wear. His heart sinks to depths he didn't think was possible and time seems to stand still — it distracts him long enough for his wife to snap her fingers in his face to re-direct his attention to her for their first kiss. The audience laughs softly at his distracted nature, but nothing can hide the storm cloud over his head, shoulders drooped and a forced half-smile painted on his face.
For the first time in months, Bakugo is convinced that this betrothal is no longer a dream come true but rather a deal with the devil, signing his name in blood for the money and fame attached to it. Disappointment rushes through his veins, poisoning his outlook on what should be one of the happiest day of his life.
Not much later, the couple is running behind as you're waiting in the reception hall at your assigned seat. Whispers of a fight start making their way through the crowd, gossiping and speculating what could've gone wrong in such a short amount of time. Your phone vibrates in your purse repeatedly, and when you finally decide to check the notifications, your eyes widen at the texts staring back at you.
Katsuki Bakugo: Don't tell anyone where you're going. Katsuki Bakugo: Come outside. Katsuki Bakugo: Now.

I love the idea of Jason deciding to check his grave for whatever reason before Titans Tower and seeing Tim just talking to his grave and showing pictures that Tim really likes that he's taken recently
I like the idea that J didn't think that people cared enough to go to his grave and then checking it and being surprised to find someone there but also pissed off that instead of Bruce or Dick it's the Stalker he saw on patrol sometimes
He isn't pissed off at Tim, actually he is super touched and goes back to watch him and listen to him talk, he's pissed off at Bruce and Dick, he thought he'd see them at some point but he never once does, not in person and not on the cameras he eventually sets up hoping that he just keeps missing them, that they actually care enough to show up
He ends up kind of adopting Tim in his head, like the more he sees Tim and hears Tim ask for advice on how to save Batman, on how to be as good as J, on how to make Nightwing like him instead of reminding him of Jason, his dead brother, J decides that he is gonna do his dramatic reveal plan and then he is gonna move back to the Manor to make sure Bruce isn’t fucking up when it comes to Tim
Tim became his Baby Bird, like he’s Dick’s Little Wing, he is the first one to notice that Tim feels like he is overstaying his welcome, he notices when Tim tries to move back to Drake Manor, he makes sure Tim knows that J came back to the manor for him, stays for him and will leave with him
Can you tell I love J being a good big brother to Tim
Can you tell I’m very fandom heavy with next to no comic knowledge

someone asks me my favorite show and i have to tell them it’s supernatural, much to my chagrin.
we get to talking and they find out that i have a near encyclopedic knowledge of it. i can recite the names of the episodes in the first six seasons from memory. i didn’t even try to learn that for the worlds lamest party trick. i’ve just seen them enough that it’s floating around in my noggin. i have the dialogue for entire scenes memorized. entire episodes, even. yet again, accidentally learned from repeated watchings. i know about the actors. i’ve met the actors. i know about the cast and crew. i know timelines and theories and why this went that way. i have characters and quotes (both from the show and fanfic) tattooed on my body. one of the things i’m best know for to an audience of 370k+ online is my passion surrounding this show and its characters. this hypothetical person says “you must be a real big fan.”
and i am. i love this stupid little show that’s objectively not very good with its silly little characters that i love so much it often keeps me up at night.
and you wanna know what always surprises the hypothetical person in these hypothetical conversations that are an amalgamation of real conversations i’ve had with real people the most? it’s not how much i know about the show or what it represented to me in my adolescence or even my love for the characters.
it’s the fact that i haven’t seen the last five seasons.
that i haven’t finished the show.
i started watching in 2013 and stopped in 2015. i didn’t pick it back up again in earnest until early 2022. i’ve been rewatching since then and despite watching it literally every single day, i’ve only made it to the end of season eight in my rewatch.
there’s always some form of indignation on the other party’s behalf. and they always ask me “why? if you love it so much, why not watch all of it?”
and the answer is simple.
because i don’t want to.
i know what happens. i was online nov 5th 2020. i know how it ends. and i don’t want it to end. i don’t like the ending. so i’m not gonna make myself watch something i know is just going to make me upset.
and does that mean i’m less of a fan?
spoiler alert: the answer is “no.”
despite what other people and fans alike like to say, it doesn’t make me less of a fan. just like watching the show in its entirety doesn’t make them more of a fan.
fandom allows for flexibility of enjoyment. and that’s what i’m in fandom to do.
enjoy.
to enjoy the same thing with people who enjoy the same thing as me. to share my joy with these people.
so no. you’re not less of a fan or more of a fan for consuming media a certain way.
if you enjoy something, you’re a fan.
and if you’re a fan, there’s a place in fandom for you.

-OCD is not a synonym for neat or preoccupied with tidiness. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is all about distressing intrusive thoughts and rituals (compulsions) used to combat those thoughts.
-Intrusive thoughts are not synonymous with silly things I want to do. They're deeply upsetting, often taboo mental apparitions. Letting them win is the last thing anyone wants, and nobody is immoral for having them. (See 'impulsive thoughts' if you need a term.)
-Anorexic is not a synonym for thin or emaciated. The majority of anorexic people have OSFED atypical anorexia – that is, their BMI is above 18.5. You cannot judge the severity of someone's illness by their appearance. (If you're worried about someone, look out more for rapid weight loss than thinness, even when it's occurring in someone in a larger body. 10kg in 10 weeks is never a good thing.)
-Eating disorders are not synonymous with just anorexia and bulimia. Anorexia is an ED, but it's nowhere near the most common. Bulimia is an ED, but again, not the most common. Together, they do not constitute the most common. The most common ED is binge-eating disorder, and the second most common is atypical anorexia, which is one of many, many OSFED categories. Those living with ARFID, pica, night-eating syndrome, rumination disorder, subthreshold BN, subthreshold BED, and orthorexia all deserve dignity, compassion, and acknowledgement. Remember: EDs are not necessarily thin, and never glamorous.
-Schizophrenic is not a synonym of all over the place, abnormal, unpredictable, dangerous, or crazy. Nor is schizoid or schizotypal. Folks with schizophrenia spectrum disorders live with hallucinations, delusions, disorganised thoughts/behaviour, and/or catatonia. They are far more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators, and go to huge lengths to act okay even when distressed by symptoms.
-Schizophrenic is also not a synonym of multiple personalities/volatile. For the disorder involving having different facets of personality that are generally unaware of each other, see Dissociative Identity Disorder, and even then, don't assume it's a) dramatic as it is in the movies; b) evil; or c) trivial. DID is a trauma disorder.
-Delusional is not a synonym of wrong. Nor is it the same as this politician/friend is saying something I do not like/that is potentially dangerous. Delusions are false, fixed beliefs held despite evidence. And generally, folks with delusions don't tend to proselytise them. I know that certain politicians have beliefs that seem to persist in the face of evidence, but nevertheless, we don't need to stigmatise mental illness further to call out poor political/social behaviour. If you need a word for the pundit spewing potentially dangerous content, use 'dangerous' or 'wrong', but don't call them delusional.
-Bipolar is not a synonym of all over the place or fluctuating results. Bipolar disorder involves mood states that, even in the rapid cycling form, tend to last at least 3-4 days (mania) and weeks (depression). If you need a word for the weather, use 'British' instead.
-Psychotic is not a synonym of evil. Psychosis is losing touch with reality, whether it be through hallucinations or delusions. It doesn't make a person bad or violent. It's just a neurological phenomenon that may be distressing. It's also relatively common: 6-15% of people will hallucinate in their lifetime.
-ADHD is not a synonym of just quirky/scattered/forgetful/unfocussed/lazy/careless. ADHD is fundamentally a disorder of being able to choose where to direct attention, rather than of just I can't focus. If someone can't tune out the noise of the crowd, but can't prevent themself focussing on something trivial because their brain is wired that way, it's not laziness or just being quirky/scattered.
-Autistic meltdown is not a synonym of temper tantrum.
-Borderline is not a synonym of harridan.
-Narcissist is not a synonym of abuser.
-Mentally ill is not a synonym of volatile or bad person. This doesn't mean we have to make something artificially positive out of mental disorders. If there is good to be found in certain disorders, great; if there is nothing positive about living with certain others, that doesn't make you any less real or resilient than anyone else. It's okay to have complex feelings about your own disorders. It's okay to feel exhausted or frustrated by a disorder. But never should anyone have to face stigma.
