hermit species headcanons: volume… 2!

i made this post two years ago when i was fresh to the series and was just getting to know the hermits. a lot has changed since then, but a lot has also stayed the same! my headcanons are getting refined every single time i talk about them, so chances are, this list won't even be accurate to my thoughts a year later.

with that being said, let's get started! click the cut to read them all

bdubs: glare! small, hates the dark, is a feral creature, will never let go of the moss. he and pungance were born from the same tree in the same patch of moss so they are brothers LMAO

beef: vampire! but not a full one. he was bitten by a bat and gained two vampiric traits exactly: fangs and sensitive skin. beef thinks his tendency to get sunburnt easily is just something in his code or a genetic condition. he never got it checked.

cub: alien shapeshifter! his original form is this shapeless void blob, and he can only copy how other beings look like. his forms were taken from two astronauts he saw in space, an old man and a young man. his void form can be seen slightly on his inner arm, where there is just a sliver of night sky hanging out

cleo: zombie (duh) cleo was permakilled by a witch's curse but when faced with the pearly gates they were like. nah. i'd rather be down there. and just straight up left and came back as a zombie. that's how she met joe. because he was sitting on top of her tombstone eating a sandwich

doc: originally a fae, but now he's super fucked up? what can i even say. he was a fae who got super interested in the sciences and started experimenting on himself just for the hell of it. there was that whole dinnerbone cyborg arm thing but he also managed to make himself a centaur form that he uses for extra storage and height. nobody knows where the creeper came from. was it from his dad's side? did he give it to himself? not even stress, his cousin, can tell you how he came to be. what the hermits DO know however is that he can steal pronouns by asking for them

etho: redstone deity! etho was an ancient builder who was executed for witchcraft upon his discovery of redstone. he was resurrected by the universe as a second chance and to spread his knowledge to the world. you can read more from my fic here ehehehehe

false: human! yes she is 100% human. i just thought it would be funny if such an awesome and skilled fighter was just some normal ass human with a bit of social anxiety

gem: forest spirit! she has nature powers and can change parts of her body to reflect parts of nature. she's a deer? an elf? nope! only sometimes. she can mix and match whatever traits she wants on any given day. but be careful of those deer legs and horns. they Hurt

grian: red macaw avian! he has bird feathers covering his ears, parrot wings, and bird talons! he is also able to mimic voices perfectly (which he uses to play pranks and swear in other hermits’ voices) and is a Hollow Boned Menace. he carries a lot of bird tendencies, like being a piece of shit or preening his friends’ hair when it’s too messy (which is always). in start of seasons, he has x lock away usage of his wings to keep himself from an unfair advantage. he also has stolen powers from the watchers, which he can use to change his wing colors or view the entire map from afar.

npg: ????????????? he’s supposed to be a robot, but he has wings and flies sideways?????? he’s somehow even more fucked up than robot grian. not even grian is sure of what he created tbh. he just knows he did NOT give npg those conure wings to begin with.

ariana griande: galah avian! she is grian's cousin who is a pop star. she has never actually been on hermitcraft before -- that was grian cosplaying as her.

hypno: human warlock! he accidentally made a pact when he replaced his tooth with a piece of cursed gold. jokes on his patron though, his faulty human memory can't even remember how he got his powers! he has lots of inscriptions as tattoos written in galactic just all over his body that he completely forgot how to read at this point and is immortal. maybe that's a bit bad for his sense of self-preservation

impulse: demon/imp! he used to be a gargoyle that dispensed candy, but a wizard passing by granted him life and well. now he's here! demons are actually underworld spirits that punish permadead players who have been genuinely horrible to the players around them, but impulse wanted to build houses and play with redstone instead of stirring the torture soup. so when he met skizz he decided hanging out with the players was the best thing to do. he also used to have larger horns and wings but his time on the surface has made his wings very tiny and unusable without the help of an elytra. skizz always teases him for this.

iskall: cyborg! the hermits don't know if he was fully human before the cyborgification. me, personally? i think it would be funny if she was actually built to protect a village but had too much of a personality so the villages just let him go have fun with the players. not sure if i want to adhere to that though

jevin: slime! certain slimes have evolved to be more like players. jevin is from the blue variety (that's his gender)

joe hills: ???????? void-born universe being??? joe is actually the oldest living being in the universe. he was just popped out of void (even predating the void gods) and spent all this time just doing whatever fuckall was around to do. he looks like a normal human being but just Slightly to the left, like his a bit-too-many teeth or slight lean when he stands. other than that, he acts like any other human!

joel: human mage! he actually only has powers of illusion that changes only how he looks. he Really wanted to be an orc but the spell couldnt last forever (as his fae wife lizzie found out after marriage). every day he wishes he had as much swag as shrek did. more on the headcanon here

keralis: weird fucking eldritch cryptid being? except he looks exactly like a human. nothing weird about him, nope. just don't look too closely at his eyes. he promises that he blinks like a normal person and not with his pupils.

mumbo: robot! with a core heart and stretchy limbs, he runs mainly on the consumption of redstone and occasionally typical foodstuffs. he had a creator before the days of hermitcraft (who originally built him as a war machine but something went deeply sideways during construction) that taught him all there is to know about redstone and the outside world. he also inherited the british accent and mustache from his creator. his creator did want him to be free and wiped mumbo's memory of his creation before setting him off into the overworld and letting him roam free. now he's just a silly guy!

grumbot: robot! he was first built to give suggestions on what to do with the mayoral elections but then he developed actual attachments to his horribly neglectant dads </3 but it's alright! he now chills with renbob and goatman up in the hermitheus

pearl: moon spirit! she was the moon from a player's hardcore world. the player used to talk to the moon for fun, but suddenly disappeared from the world one day. now feeling lonely, pearl took a humanoid form and descended to find where her player went, but she ended up discovering the joys of being a player herself. contrary to popular belief, she had no influence on the season 8 moon.

ren: weredog! can shapeshift into a dog form, which he usually uses to either run fast or play fetch. he’s also more prone to change when the moon is larger…. except he just becomes a hyperactive dog who chases his tail all night and is deeply embarrassed by it. he also probably has rabies, but everyone whom he has bitten probably already had something deeply wrong with them to begin with anyway

renbob: human...? he's related to ren from the human side, or at least that what he tells people. but he might as well be 50% weed by now

scar: human(?) wizard! he can fly, subtly change his physical appearance, cast spells, and do all sorts of magical shenanigans! he also can read galactic fluently, which is how he learned that hypno enchanted himself with loyalty at some point. jellie is his beloved familiar. also he's a capitalist. nobody knows where that came from

skizz: angel! why are there angels in minecraft, you might ask? some people are satisfied with their lives and let themselves permadie. skizz, after being born randomly from an angel statue (i wonder if it’s related to the other statue guy) was supposed to be one of the angels who helped escort players to the pearly gates, but he met impulse while his demon clan was taking a field trip to heaven. the two immediately became besties and skizz begged the universe to let him join the players. the universe begrudgingly agreed and now he's here! he hides his many other halos as ring tattoos on his arms as well

stress: fae! she's got fairy powers, magical swag, an affinity for flowers, and will beat you up if you assume she's the resident server cleric.

tango: ex-blazeborn! he saw some yummy packed ice and ate it, which extinguished his internal flame. his blazeborn tribe felt bad for him but knew it would be dangerous if he stayed, so tango just left for the overworld instead. he tries to convince people that he is 100% a human and not suspicious at all because he's embarrassed of having to explain that he lost most of his powers due to eating some yummy ice cream. a more detailed post about my headcanon can be found here

tfc: human! the only non-human aspect of him is a prosthetic leg. contrary to popular belief, he did not lose that leg while mining. it was after fighting a horde of skeletons. (he won)

wels: human. he's just a human. nobody believes him when he tells them because they've seen him accidentally level a building while sparring before. but nope. he's just a human. and a very fucked up one at that

hels: ???? techncially has the traits of wels, beef, and etho????? is there a species for evil clones created by copying machines or

xb: guardian! he was a guardian made to guard the magical treasures of ancient builders, but he got bored of staying in the same spot for centuries and his creators never returning. hypno casted a spell of bipedelity on xb, so now he can walk on land! i wrote a fic about it here too

xisuma: voidwalker! created by the young void gods, he was made from a fucking mspaint file where the void gods dicked around with the program and made a deeply fucked up being (him) on accident. he has no mouth, his hands are as black as the void, and his voice is terrifying without a modulator, which is why he wears a helmet. more about it in my fic here

evil x: also a voidwalker, but this time the void gods pressed random on a picrew and sent him out into an alternate dimension. he grew up in super england until x fished him out of the void. this little rascal has red scleras, ram horns, and a devil tail. he doesn't need to sleep, so he gets all his energy from eating, which is convenient because his sharp teeth can crunch anything and he can digest everything. his hair acts like an enderchest with a portal to the void, where he keeps snacks and various trinkets.

zedaph: human, but he’s not sane. i mean look at this guy. look at what he’s doing. nobody knows how he became so deeply fucked up but he's truly just Like That. he gave himself sheep features once on accident though

worm man: surprisingly, human. he's lucky to have stayed human for this long with his brother's insane experiments. accurate to popular belief, he has no superpowers.

i just wanna rant about the smp rq

i saw on a post by @give-grian-rights about their feelings for the dsmp video Tommy made, so I was kinda inspired to make this-

Story Time~ 💫

i joined the fandom after it ended. i know, i know, sorry guys, but it's true. I hated the dsmp. I thought it was dumb. I thought it was just another cringey thing online.

then again, I wasn't online that much in COVID. I have strict parents, so I basically spent all my time watching Ihascupquake in secret (yeah that's kinda goofy to look back on lmfao), but that was it. I didn't care, or know about the dsmp.

but then, in 2021-22, my best friend at the time, they loved it. and tried getting me into it. they would constantly text me when someone was streaming and how excited they were.

they would come to school with dsmp merch, and one day they even asked me to draw cc!ranboo. I was happy for them and I tried liking it, but it wasn't the same. I helped comfort them the day techno died (o7), I listened to them ramble about Karl's stream the night before, but I didn't get into it.

In 2023, after it ended, they began slowly drifting away from the fandom, and we slowly drifted away as friends. I joined a new friend group with my boyfriend at the time, and they started talking to some people the year above us.

we aren't friends anymore, but,

in 2023, that Halloween, I went trick or treating, and saw their older friends cosplaying as Techno, Sapnap(?), and Phil(?) (I think, all I know is that Techno was there).

I said their cosplays were great, cause I knew who they were.

which isn't really a lot to care about, but it was a little trailer for what was to come.

then a bunch of shit went down, and I broke up with my boyfriend and wasn't truly friends with anyone.

until, one night, I was watching YouTube on Spotify one night (strict parents 🔥), and there was no more Ryan Trahan to watch.

so, i clicked on a MrBeast video.

"$1 vs $100,000,000 House!"

and I found Karl.

so I continued watching MrBeast, before deciding to search up who Karl on Spotify to see what other videos he did.

and what I found?

his symbol. the little swirly thing.

and my life literally flashed before my eyes.

I remembered the symbol from my old friends sweater.

and I panicked. why? Idk, I overreacted.

I tried fighting the urge to get into the DSMP, but, I failed.

and I watched Quackity's video called:

"I Read The Worst Fanfictions With GeorgeNotFound"

I didn't know about the george drama at the time but,,

I just continued watching.

and I thank the dream smp.

after I got into the actual lore and stuff (thanks EvanMCGaming) I realized that it kinda saved me?

I know so many other people have had similar experiences with being saved by this wonderful creation.

but I have 1 regret

I regret I didn't get into it sooner. being able to watch a DSMP stream, or to talk to the fandom in real life.

looking back on my old friend,

I'm sorry for being too late.

but I am still glad I found the dsmp,, probably something I'll never let go :)

Saw some Grian Cosplays at the con this weekend, and a Limited Life Scar cosplay! Scar had the red/green/yellow hearts on their sleeve and Jellie Paw prints on their shirt and back!

There was a sculk Grian also, but was too far away to get a photo. But I will post the video of the cosplay contest they were in from my seat.

my builds are never too meta, i usually just match my playstyle, ive never gotten out of s/s+ hell ^^ but! i got thermal ink, swim speed and a bit of run speed, bc i.. tend to run in without thinking and i like to be able to get out of tight situations ^^ thermal inks very useful since I use the spread aoe shots a lot n it helps me know where people are on the map :]

idk much about reeflux, I think it’s very different from tristringer? Like it’s a front liner no? I have no idea what build I’d use for it ^^; hope I helped a bit tho!

And then met three million Tubbos today when I was out of cosplay bc my bald cap was Gone and I was spending all of like an hour at the con anyway

BANGER Ho16 panel tbh the Wilbur in that panel went SO HARD

Took off my bald cap + mask Saturday night Oracle said it looked like the Ranbutler mask and then with the addition of Floral's Technovest the Fake Bitch pin the hair clip for the little gold things the sword won at an earlier panel and a milk bottle Bam Get Ranbutlered. Floral got together a Billiam too and she looked AMAZING... PEERPRESSURE NEVER LOSES FOR ACTUAL !!

Oracle wore my Ranboo bracelet while I wore my Technoblade bracelet + infosec + they made him in a lab + praxis for my Ranboo YAYYY friendship... Ranbutler wore L, infosec, they made him in a lab, and E

Saw two other Ranboos and a Techno with the exact same crown. I was the only one who modded it though

Nobody's Side from Chess the Musical. This one gives me major Scarian vibes from Double Life...plus the vocals are just AMAZING. I've also related it heavily to an Iron Dad Parent Trap AU my buddy Anya and I created a long time ago, for any Marvel fans, so it's been in my playlists for a few years by now. This is just the latest fandom to steal it away lol. I've been tempted to use it for a cosplay music video too, but - well I'd need a Scar to go with my Grian so. Hah. Maybe not. ^^;

Soulmate Song by Carson James Argenna. If you can't tell, I've been listening to my Traffic Life playlist lately lmao. But really, I hear this song long before I ever saw an episode of 3rd Life or any other season of the game. It's also one I used to skip a lot because I thought the lyrics were going to be sad by hearing the first line, but then I listened to it more recently in an attempt to complete my TNaWY playlist and realized that no, actually, it's a REALLY GOOD SONG and so - hah - rather belated adoration for a song that had a big wave of popularity sometime last summer. Ah well, better late than never!

This Means War by Marianas Trench. I will ALWAYS be a fan of Marianas Trench, and this one has been a recent earworm of mine for some reason lol. It's a bop and it's SUPER fun to sing along to! the big categories of cosplay I saw, in no particular order:

strange, snappily dressed red people that I have no frame of reference for

snappily dressed people in red, white, and black with purposeful checks and stripes contrasting with solid patches

One Piece. so much One Piece. live action, anime, didn't matter, it was a behemoth category. I can now recognize the strange near and the weird reindeer on site.

so much Genshin Impact (Tighnari was most common, Sumeru was the most common region, but Lyney and Lynette repped Fontaine hard, and Dehya looked amazing)

a lot of Star Rail (Imbibitor Lunae was common, but there was a Kafka walking with Blade, a really good Firefly, and a spot-on Caelus. there were a couple of Robins, I'm pretty sure I saw Tingyun)

Cowboy Sailor Moon. there were at least four of them running around, it was delightful and a little strange. (there was a fair amount of normal Sailor Moon too, but that's to be expected)

Delicious in Dungeon was hella popular, there was a Marcille towards the end of the day who's wig was drooping (91% humidity) and she just looked so utterly Done with everything

Pokemon, but like not as much the human characters, the actual pokemon

Trigun, new and old. I'm pretty sure I spotted old school Vash walking arm in arm with new Vash and a Wolfwood nearly concussed me with the gun cross.

cosplay categories that were smaller than expected

Final Fantasy VII. like I went to cons around Advent Children's release and you couldn't walk without tripping over a Reno or Cloud. this time I only saw like 5 Clouds and Aerises total (though like 3 Vincents, Vincents are eternal and a metric of con health istg).

individual cosplays I recognized:

someone from ISAT, they looked amazing and had the biggest safety pins I've ever seen

Utena, even though I referred to her to my sister as "the pink haired rose lesbian" because I blanked on the name and never actually watched Utena

I went to a con today and it was a ton of fun, saw a couple of VAs talk who I like based on their YouTubes, saw a ton of cosplay, and handed out a bunch of glow in the dark resin hearts to people whose cosplays I recognized and liked. of course, now I'm going to sleep ridiculously early because woah that was more physical exertion than I'm used to.

I like Soup Group shenanigans, and I wanted to draw Impulse (in his dwarf skin) as soon as I saw him! He still has his horns.... Because I can’t let go the headcanon of him being a demon, it’s so cool! And also I enjoyed so much drawing Pearl and Gem too!

If you are curious Gem is poisoned, Peal has night vision and Impulse got strength. I had to go to Minecraft to find colors of particles because it was easier than searching on the internet for that information XD.

Like. I’m thinking again. That can be dangerous. But. We’ve talked about merch. We’ve talked about movies of the au. I’m just. Thinking. Of cosplays. Of team scar and Grian and people just… maybe making their own spirits to either cope that they were possessed or because they think it’s cool and wanna look dubiously elderitch. Cosplays of varying qualities too. Like store brand cosplays. Like. Like cosplays you’d order from Amazon. Then flippin homemade cosplays from people who know how to sew. And casual cosplays as well. Also props. Imagine prop making. Also. I’m soft for the idea of little kids in wheelchairs cosplaying Scar’s magickal persona. Or really any folks who are physically impaired. Who do you think would have the most cosplays of themself? Also, on the social media, the Twitter I think it was, do they ever like, like, fan art or fan works or cosplays? Or deep dive analysises? I have another thought but it’s a bit more to the side so I’ll send that in a separate ask. Also I’m hoping to high heavens that tumblr isn’t eating my asks cause I got really excited when talking about the possibilities of spirits the other day and I’m just. A ball of anxiety.

i think scar saw a cosplay of him in magical girl form one time on a like twelve-year-old girl and almost burst into tears, is what i think happens.

i think scar probably has the most cosplays by virtue of being A) the most visible magical girl who is B) not a supervillain - like, grian probably gets people dressing up as him, but it's like, you know there are people who are "fans" of criminals in real life, but they get weird looks, right? and over time blackbird fans get... somewhat less weird looks as she gets less blatantly a supervillain and starts to appear to be helping more often. BIG social media fights on what "villain" even means. and then with the other two - cub mostly sticks to the background except when he does big dramatic chaotic things (and also has not nearly as much of a costume as scar for a while he'd be less fun) and bdubs... bdubs gets a pretty dedicated set of fans too i think but less than just scar.

i think we've made the jokes about fanfiction already (bdubs has it saved on his phone to blackmail scar with as needed lol) but also yeah, that definitely exists. fanart also definitely exists and i think after bdubs joins the team he shows scar and cub how to properly find fanart that isn't being sold as merch when he gets their in-persona social media in order.

as for analysis... i think the local newspaper eventually has to ban op-eds on the local magical girls for like two weeks because they got NOTHING BUT OP-EDS ABOUT THE LOCAL MAGICAL GIRLS and they're like. okay. we need to publish op-eds about other social issues guys. there are probably SO MANY video essays and thinkpieces about "are they good" and "what could they be doing better" and you know, all the stuff i said got talked about, haha. as i said, basically the only taboo here is people who try to do analysis to dig up their real identities, mostly because that gets you cancelled off the internet. which is good for scar, right up until he outright reveals his own identity to the world.

i think a good thing to keep in mind is that they’re basically like... a cross between celebrities and political figures and also sort of fantastical action stars, all at once. they’ve got some weird stuff going on with public relations you know

Finally started watching Yandere Highschool like five years late cause I wanted to understand the Grian Lore.

And, question.

Who on earth decided that yhs/ts Grian being super traumatized was a fanon interpretation???

Like before I watched the series I saw multiple posts complaining about the fandom making Grian look like a Sad Innocent Babie or whatever by painting him as traumatized and as mostly innocent when it comes to the awful things done throughout the majority of the series. I went into watching fully expecting to see chaos gremlin Grian who's a prick for no reason and actively goes out of his way to do crime. I read enough posts complaining about the strictly fanon victim Grian take that you can imagine my shock upon actually starting to watch the series and getting the overwhelming sense that a lot of people who were supposedly making him too sympathetic were actually underplaying the situation.

I mean, hell, most of the time people fixate in on the halloween arc when it comes to Grian Trauma to begin with which is actually being super lenient in ignoring.....well.....everything else Grian got put through afterwards (y'all remember that time sam came into grian's room, forcefully dressed him up in cosplay he didn't want to wear complete with deeply uncomfortable fake boobs, then locked him in the basement for days straight until grian screamed loud enough to get taurtis' attention and even then when he started rambling and screaming about what sam did to him both of the other's brushed it off as a joke and then made him walk around in that outfit all day while making various uncomfortable comments and even offering to give him to a guy that commented on the outfit at one point as part of some sort of deal which probably only didn't happen because they got attacked two seconds later and had to switch their focus to that? just as one example). So the fact that most people who offer up Traumatized Grian only use the halloween arc to begin with is rather minimalistic given everything else he goes through later. Yet ive still seen way too many posts say that even acknowledging that much is super innacurate fanon??

Grian groaned loudly and turned to the other side. His RV bed wasn’t big, but thank god it was big enough to turn and curl up to hide from the outside world.

“Grian, come on, dude, the guys are up to something.” 

He groaned even louder, hoping that whoever’s trying to wake him up will understand that he is not about to move. 

“C’mon, dude, it’s Doc and Scar, they’re doing a thing.” 

Grian moved back to his other side, facing the person speaking. He opened his left eye, just enough to see who it is - it was Ren, his hair tied even messier than usual. His flower crown was still on, which made Grian laugh inside. Of course it was. 

“Finally, dude, you need to move, I can’t handle that, need to go back to the fantasy district and Impulse is busy restocking iTrade.”

“Convince me.” Grian stuck his tongue out a little and closed his eye again.

“Well, I don’t know, they’re doing something around Falsewell…” Ren started. Grian groaned once again, still not convinced to move.

“Dunno, hoped you’d be a good friend and help me check it out?”

“Nope. Not moving.” Grian hid under his covers. There was no way he’s leaving the bed.

“Uh, I don’t know, dude, they both started wearing suits and dark sunglasses?”

Grian opened his eyes again. “Suits?”

“Yeah, they’re like, cosplaying Men In Black or something, I don’t know, Scar’s sniffing around Falsewell and Doc’s working on their security or something, we could split and check them one on one.” Ren rolled his eyes. “Of course they have to be super extra with everything they do.”

Grian finally sat up. “Okay, sure, I can do it. But you owe me. You owe me big time.” 

Ren laughed. “So, helping your friend isn’t enough but seeing Doc and Scar in suits is?”

“Shut up, I have my reasons.” Grian sighed and stood up from his bed and grabbed his pair of jeans and looked around for a fresh shirt. He didn’t feel uncomfortable changing with Ren in the room - he barely felt uncomfortable around Ren, to be honest. They got really close since the whole Hippies thing started.

“Your reasons being… Dudes in suits?” 

“Ren, shut up, I’m only doing this so you’ll let me sleep later.” he said with a smile, grabbing a fresh shirt. 

“Yeah, sure.” Ren laughed and watched Grian try and fix his hair in the RV window. “So, I’ll go to Falsewell and check out what’s Scar’s up to, and you’ll deal with Doc and his things at the entrance?”

Grian froze for a moment. Yeah, he was comfortable around Ren, but explaining to him why he’d prefer to not be one on one with Doc was slightly out of his comfort zone. “Can’t I get Scar? You’d do better with Doc, you two had the whole stock exchange thing going, right?”

“We did, and that’s exactly why I’m taking Scar” 

Grian rolled his eyes. “You do have your own reasons for sending me to Doc, don’t you?”

“You know.” Ren started. “I’ve heard Doc has kind of a, how do I word this, soft spot for you. You could use that to our advandage and get some info on what they’re both up to.”

Grian stiffened up again. “What do you mean?”

“Oh, you’re not really that dumb, I know you know what I mean. You could put that soft cute boy powers of yours to a good use” Ren said, and Grian groaned at his words. “Remember, all is fair in love and war.”

“There’s no love going around, Ren.” Grian scoffed, ignoring Ren’s comment about his supposed powers.

“Sure. I bet you’re just too scared to do it.” Ren winked and left Grian’s van, ending with Grian having no choice but to go check out what’s Doc up to.

Grian walked towards the Area 77 main gate and leaned on one of the walls. Doc still hasn’t noticed him, busy on putting up redstone contraptions. 

“Hi, Doc!” Grian exclaimed, loudly enough for Doc to hear, and hear he did - he immediately bolted up, hitting his head on the block above him. 

“Grian.” he said, smiling. It didn’t feel like a friendly smile. “What do you want?”

“Just passing by.” Grian shot him a wide smile, the kind of smile that makes your eyes crinkle. “Redstone work?”

“You know, I feel like you came here to figure out my redstone to break in later.” Doc said, completely ignoring Grian’s words; Grian shook his head and laughed. Ren said he couldn’t do it, so there’s no way in hell he’s failing - he will come back to the hippie camp with all the info he could get. He just has to prove Ren wrong, especially now that he basically challenged him.

“Nah, too lazy to pay attention. There’s something else distracting me. Or someone, more like it.” he winked, the smiled not leaving his face. He still wasn’t fully comfortable saying things like that, but well, he can’t lose the challenge Ren gave him. 

Doc shook his head. “Grian, come on, what do you want?”

Grian blinked twice, the smile slightly fading for a moment. It was a perfect opportunity to mess with Doc a little more, but he had to think about it for a split second. He decided to screw it. “Oh, I don’t know. You, maybe?”

Doc furrowed his brows and shook the redstone off of his hands. He didn’t understand what’s going on with Grian, maybe the weird mushrooms that grow around the hippie camp got to him? Unless… Oh. Oh. He smiled. He understood what’s going on now, and no matter that every single part of him told him to not do it, he decided to join Grian’s game.

“Oh, okay.” he smiled widely, leaning back and looking Grian in the eyes, making the shorter guy shift his weight. Perfect. “My rates start at a hundred diamonds per hour, depending what you need done it will probably go up. Also, let me know what it is, I have policies on what’s not acceptable.”

Grian laughed. That wasn’t quite the response he expected. He pushed himself off the wall and took few steps forwards. “Well, inform me on what your offer is first?” he asked, tilting his head slightly.

“Well.” Doc started, acting like he’s thinking heavily and also stepped towards Grian, opening up the top of his coat slightly, makign it look like an accident. Two can play that game, he thought. “The offers pretty wide, so I’m pretty sure whatever your needs are I’ll be able to give you satisfaction.”

Against his will, Grian carefully watched Doc’s fingers play with the buttons of his clothes. He swallowed heavily. Crap. Not what I expected. He couldn’t complain, though. He had to get over his feelings. “Soo…” he said, playing with his hair. “You guys wearing suits now, huh?”

Doc laughed. “What, you wanted to see me in it for long?”

“Not really, no.” Grian said and looked Doc down from head to toe, stopping his gaze in stragetical places for just a split second too long to be considered casual and stepped even closer. He was just outside the Area 77 border, leaning forwardson his elbows on the barrier. “Would prefer you without it.” 

Walking even closer to Grian, he leaned on the barrier from the other side. “Well, I don’t think that’s impossible to arrange.” he said, smirking.

“Oh.” Grian let out on accident. He considered bailing, abandoning the mission, telling Ren he couldn’t, but he didn’t. He’s come this far, he might as well dig his grave even deeper. He walked under the barrier and stood right in front of Doc and looked up to see his face. “Let’s make the arrangement, then.” 

Grian could see Doc looking around, and he thought he took it too far. But then he heard Doc say “Oh, fuck it.”, and then he felt Doc’s hand on the back of his head grabbing his hair oh so very lightly, and then Doc’s lips were on his, and he was too taken aback to kiss back, and then it was over. 

“I’m, uh-” Doc stumbled on his words and straightened up. “I’m sorry-”

“No.” Grian interrupted. “No sorries.” he said, standing on his tip toes to reach Doc and kiss him back. “No sorries.” he repeated.

Doc laughed awkwardly. “We really shouldn’t be doing this, should we?” 

“Oh, who cares.” Grian said. “So…” he looked up at Doc with the best attempt at puppy eyes he could do. “About the Area info?”

Grian felt Doc’s hand in his hair again, this time ruffling it up. “God, you really need to get what you want, don’t you?”

Grian smiled widely. “What can I say, I’m kind of a needy guy.”

When he came back, he saw Ren sitting near the campfire. 

“Took you long enough, huh?” Ren said, his eyes sparkling. “Did you at least get any info?”

Grian smiled. “Yup. I did.” he sat next to Ren. “Also, you might’ve been right.”

“Oh?” Ren raised his eyebrow. “What was it this time?”

“Shut up.” Grian punched him in the arm and chuckled. “Uhm, there might be some love going around.”

“Wow.” Ren said, making the “o” long. “Who could’ve ever guessed.”

Grian rolled his eyes in response; he couldn’t give Ren the satisfaction of being right, now, could he?
