Thank you again Daniel and Kathryn
I was giggling so much
instagram
From Daniel Selon, the costume designer:
"Here’s an origin story for you: Kathryn brilliantly asked me, “where did Agatha’s clothes come from? If I’ve taken over Ralph Bohner‘s house, whose clothes am I wearing?” So we decided that for the lucid version of the interrogation scene, we should see her wearing something that existed in Ralph’s closet. I thought, he’s definitely a graphic t-shirt kind of dude and I bet there’s an old family reunion t-shirt in his dresser drawer. How about a camping theme? Jac and the writers brainstormed some jokes, my team sketched this graphic and here we are! Privately I wondered, are we really going to squeeze a boner joke into this dark and mysterious show about witches? Is this the best job ever? The answer to both questions was YES!"

Kathryn Hahn x female reader
Scene opens with Kathryn Hahn and Y/N sitting side by side in front of a camera for Wired’s Autocomplete Interview. The two are on a press tour for their latest movie together, a dark comedy-thriller with a supernatural twist. Kathryn, with her warm smile and energetic demeanor, contrasts with Y/N’s more stoic, but subtly charming presence. Y/N is 23, tall, and has a masculine-presenting style—she’s often dressed in darker clothes, favoring leather jackets and combat boots, a stark contrast to Kathryn's colorful, quirky outfits.
They both look at the famous whiteboard with Google search questions taped onto it, ready to answer fans' most searched questions.
Kathryn: (grinning at the camera) Hello, Wired! We are here for the Autocomplete Interview! I’m Kathryn Hahn, and this is the incredible Y/N, my co-star, who you probably know from her chilling horror roles or as Knightmare in the Marvel universe.
Y/N: (smiling slightly, a subtle quirk of her lips) Hey.
Kathryn: (playfully nudging Y/N) She’s super talkative, as you can tell. laughs But, seriously, she’s brilliant, so let’s see what people are curious about!
Kathryn peels off the first question.
Kathryn: Alright, first one! reads “Is Kathryn Hahn…”
Y/N: (leaning over to read too, curious) Ooh, let’s see what they wanna know about you.
Kathryn: laughs I’m nervous! “Is Kathryn Hahn…related to Adam Sandler?” Oh, wow. laughs
Y/N: snorts softly What?
Kathryn: Yeah, no. I’ve been in a movie with him, sure. But related? No. That would be an interesting family dynamic, though, wouldn’t it?
Y/N: nodding with mock seriousness Yeah, you guys could have, like, a whole comedic dynasty thing going on.
Kathryn: laughs Right? Imagine family dinners—just bits, all the time. But nope, not related. Alright, next! tears off another strip
“Is Kathryn Hahn…a witch?” laughs loudly Okay, okay, I see where this is coming from.
Y/N: grinning now Agatha Harkness. People loved you in that.
Kathryn: dramatic voice The power of Agatha compels them! laughs But no, I’m not actually a witch in real life. I just play one on TV, and apparently, I’m convincing.
Y/N: smirking Too convincing, maybe.
Kathryn: You know, with all the witchy roles, I might start believing it myself. Alright, next! Y/N, your turn!
Kathryn hands Y/N the board, and Y/N tears off the next strip of questions.
Y/N: reads “Is Y/N…”
Kathryn: leaning in with curiosity Ooooh, I like this.
Y/N: deadpan “Is Y/N a serial killer?”
Kathryn: bursts out laughing Oh my God, of course that’s the first thing people want to know!
Y/N: shrugs with a smirk Can’t really blame them. I’ve, uh, killed a lot of people. Kathryn giggles at that On screen.
Kathryn: Yeah, let’s make that clear! She’s a total sweetheart off-screen, I swear.
Y/N: quirking an eyebrow Thanks. But no, not a serial killer. Just play one in horror movies. turning to the camera with a mock serious tone Don’t worry.
Kathryn: teasing I mean, she is very convincing, though. Sometimes I wonder. laughs You’ve got this whole intense thing going on in your roles. How do you flip the switch between being the killer and just, you know, hanging out?
Y/N: considering for a second Honestly, I just look at it like a job. I step into the character’s head, and then once the scene’s done, I step out. It’s like leaving the mask behind.
Kathryn: nodding That’s cool. And also, the intensity you bring to those characters? Terrifying. You know how many nightmares you’ve given people?
Y/N: smirking Knightmares, you mean?
Kathryn: laughs Yes! Marvel’s very own Knightmare, everyone! Speaking of which… Kathryn rips off the next strip “Is Y/N in Marvel?”
Y/N: nodding slightly Yeah. I play Knightmare. She’s the daughter of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Kathryn: Which is so badass.
Y/N: chuckling softly Yeah, she’s… complicated. A lot of darkness in her, but she’s also figuring out her place in the world. Kind of like me, except I don’t have demon parents.
Kathryn: laughing That we know of!
Y/N: dryly True.
Kathryn: Knightmare is such a cool character, though. Dark, complex, a little terrifying. Very much your brand.
Y/N: nods Yeah, I like playing her. She’s got layers.
Kathryn: You’re amazing in that role. Every time you come on screen, people are like, "Oh no, things are about to get real."
Y/N: smiling a little more now Thanks. It’s fun getting to show up in the Marvel universe and just… bring that intensity. But also not just be, you know, the villain. She’s more than that.
Kathryn: seriously Absolutely. There’s so much more going on with her. I love that Marvel’s giving you that space to explore it.
Y/N nods, visibly comfortable in the conversation, though still measured in her responses. Kathryn peels off the next question.
Kathryn: reads “Can Kathryn Hahn…” pauses “…sing?”
Y/N: grins Can you?
Kathryn: laughs Yes! I mean, I can carry a tune. I did some singing in Central Park and WandaVision, and I love it. But I wouldn’t call myself a full-on singer. You wouldn’t see me in, like, a rock band or anything.
Y/N: teasing I don’t know, I think you could pull it off.
Kathryn: playfully Oh, please. With you on guitar? We could start a band! What would our band name be?
Y/N: deadpan Agatha and the Knightmares.
Kathryn: laughing hysterically YES! That’s it. You’ve just named our band. We’ll tour next year.
Y/N: smiling, slightly amused I’m in.
Kathryn: still chuckling Alright, let’s see what’s next. tears off another strip “Can Y/N…fight?”
Y/N: smirking I hope so.
Kathryn: mocking awe You are so intense. But seriously, you do all your own fight scenes, right?
Y/N: Yeah, mostly. I train a lot for them. It’s important to me that the physicality feels real, especially in the horror stuff and as Knightmare.
Kathryn: nodding You’re amazing at it. I mean, I’ve seen you fight on set. You’re no joke.
Y/N: modestly Thanks. It’s all choreography, but yeah, I like it. It’s like a dance in a way.
Kathryn: smiling A deadly dance, but yeah, I see it. You’ve got that precision.
Y/N: shrugs Gotta keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
Kathryn: You definitely do. Every time you fight, it’s like, “Oh no, someone’s about to die.” But you also bring this emotion to it, like it’s not just about the violence.
Y/N: nodding Exactly. It’s more than the fighting. There’s always something driving it—whether it’s survival, vengeance, fear, whatever. That’s what makes it interesting.
Kathryn: impressed See? This is why you’re so good at what you do. You put so much thought into it.
They share a smile, and Kathryn reaches for the next question.
Kathryn: reads “Does Kathryn Hahn…”
Y/N: mock suspense Drumroll.
Kathryn: laughs “…have tattoos?”
Y/N: looking at Kathryn, curious Do you?
Kathryn: laughing No, I don’t! I know, shocker, right? I’m like, the most tattoo-less person ever. But I do think about it sometimes. What about you?
Y/N: shrugs A few. Nothing crazy, though.
Kathryn: intrigued Really? Where?
Y/N: teasingly You’ll have to guess.
Kathryn: laughing Ooh, mysterious. Okay, okay
. I’m not gonna push you for details, but I’m now very curious.
Y/N: smirking Good.
Kathryn: shaking her head, smiling Alright, next! “Does Y/N like horror movies?”
Y/N: nods slightly Yeah, I do. It’s weird because I’m in them so much, but I love the tension, the atmosphere. It’s not just about the scares for me. It’s about what horror can say about fear, about people.
Kathryn: thoughtful That makes sense. You don’t just act in them—you kinda live and breathe them. What’s your favorite?
Y/N: pausing to think I’d probably say The Shining. It’s a classic, but it’s more psychological than just jump scares. There’s this creeping dread that sticks with you.
Kathryn: nodding Yeah, that movie is so unsettling. I can totally see why you’d love that. You bring that same kind of dread to your roles.
Y/N: shrugging modestly Thanks.
Kathryn: teasing And yet here you are, the nicest person in real life. It’s wild.
Y/N: smiling slightly Gotta keep people guessing.
Kathryn: laughing You’re good at that.
They both share a relaxed look before Kathryn grabs the final question.
Kathryn: Last one! “Does Y/N have a Marvel future?”
Y/N: glancing at the camera with a slight grin That’s… classified.
Kathryn: laughs Classic Marvel answer! But seriously, people are excited to see more of Knightmare. And I think they should be. You’re fantastic in that role.
Y/N: nodding We’ll see. There’s a lot of potential for where Knightmare can go. I’m just along for the ride.
Kathryn: excited And we can’t wait to see it!
They both look at the camera as Kathryn wraps up.
Kathryn: Alright, that’s it for our Wired Autocomplete Interview! Thanks for hanging out with us and for all the weird, funny, and insightful questions!
Y/N: nodding Yeah, thanks.
Kathryn: grinning And don’t forget to check out our new movie—it’s a wild ride!
Y/N: smirking It’s killer.
Kathryn: laughing Of course you’d say that!
The camera fades out with the two of them laughing together, a perfect blend of Kathryn’s infectious energy and Y/N’s cool, subtle charm.
I tried a bit of a different style with this one, hope that's ok also I did another oneshot since I was away for sometime, I started University like 2 week ago and I'm still getting used to the timetable and that shit

Gorgeous
words: 500ish
warnings: reader is mostly described as gender neutral but is called a mom at some point, fluff, smut allusion in the end, carla might be a little ooc cause im obsessed with agatha
notes: I watched the agatha all along finale and felt like I needed to write something to get rid of the kathryn yearning without writing for agatha and getting depressive so i wrote something shitty for carla because i can
Carla Dunkler was gorgeous, and she knew that. I did too.
I found that woman so unmistakably beautiful. And she knew I did.
My daughter was 12, I would bring her to school every morning and I always saw that gorgeous woman, all by herself, dropping her son, staying there and hitting on numerous men. I sometimes wished she would hit on me too, secretly, of course. I wouldn’t actually tell anyone that, some moms despised the brunette for some reason.
Until one day, she did hit on me:
- Hey, hot stuff! – Carla shouted from across the street as I walked back to my car
-You’ talking to me? – I point at myself, looking around confused
- Of course I am, hun, come here!
I walked over to her in a fluid semblance, trying to not fuck it up.
-Hey… - I spoke softly, feeling too seen
-I always see you dropping your daughter… Y/N, right? – I nodded my head and she continued – I’m Carla.
-Yeah, I know. I’m Y/N… but you already knew that… - I hissed at myself internally and she chuckled shortly
-Yeah, I did… Well, we’re both hot single moms with no apparent potential lovers, I was wondering if you might wanna go out someday, but if you have a partner or sum’…
I smiled softly at her and crook my head a little to the side, suddenly felling confident
-Are you asking me out, Dunkler?
-Don’t make a big deal out off it or I’ll change my mind. – She almost but huffed
-Ok, ok, I won’t! – I giggle for a second – I would really like to go out with you
She nod her head and climbed on her car’s window, picking up a pen, grabbing my hand and writing on the back of it
-My number. Hit me up and we’ll talk about that.
-Yeah, sure… - I look at her like she was the most beautiful creature in the world, somehow
-See ya’ later, gorgeous – she winked at me, hopped inside her car and drove away while I waved back
After that, I texted her, we talked, a lot, until we finally went on that date. Carla was dropping me at my house.
-Thank you, Carla, I had a lot of fun… hope we can do that again soon…- I spoke with a look of endearment, almost staring at her
-You’re staring, hun… - she hummed against my face, smirking
When I looked away and was starting to come up with an excuse, she grabs my chin and presses her lips on mine. Oh, such a sweet kiss, I felt like I could have her lips forever and never get bored. Until the hands started appearing, groping, grabbing and grinding against each other, making out for minutes. I separate from her breathless
-Do you wanna go inside?
- I sure do, hun…
Carla really was gorgeous.

Sometimes there really are interesting things on Reddit, found this one particular passage on r/DaystromInstitute talking about Starfleet and the Cardassian war, in particular, Miles O'Brien and Kathryn Janeway's experiences in a ground war:
Ground combat was much different. O'Brian's reactions to the Cardassians in 'The Wounded' are clear that ground combat wasn't as clean for the Federation as it was in space. Same with Captain Maxwell. Even Captain Janeway was in ground combat in the Federation/Cardassian war (I think it was the episode 'Prey' where Janeway told Seven of a time during the war when she was only Lt. Janeway). O'Brian carrying anger against the Cardassians for making him into a killer. Maxwell so used to destroying Cardassian ships that a year after the treaty is signed he's still in the habit of blowing up Cardassian ships. Janeway, it's entirely possible that until the war ended she spent her entire Starfleet career in combat, earning battlefield promotions, flying up the chain of command to Commander and with the impossible situation that Voyager was in after her promotion to Captain and first command being Voyager, she found herself trying to balance Starfleet ideologies with her own history of being willing to use violence, or in her case, too willing in a few episodes.
This is an interesting thought, I remember being surprised knowing Janeway actually was in actual ground combat. As we learned from DS9, and Strange New Worlds, ground combat is a lot different from ship-to-ship battle.
Ships can also be dangerous but Starfleet shines with ship battles. Ground combats are harder, and bloodier, and leave long-lasting marks on the soldiers who find themselves in them.
I wonder if Janeway distinguishing herself in the Cardassian war is the reason why Voyager got the assignment to go after the Maquis. But also, Janeway might have wanted to distance herself from the war more and focus on science.
But the Delta Quadrant kept pushing her into that place again.
Like, now I wish Janeway interacted with O'Brien at least, two Cardassian war vets.
ETA:
Another good r/DaystromInstitute post on Janeway:
Janeway is intentionally written as a character who intellectually believes in the ideals of the Federation, but whose actions are not always in line with her stated beliefs. I think this is very human and understandable. Very few real humans are as moral as Picard. This is why Quark's quote:
"Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don't believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes."
rings so true. Janeway is trying hard to not be the type of human Quark describes, but she is failing. She still tries, though, which I think is important.
All this just makes me love Janeway more, also Starfleet is terrible with mental health.

Secret relationship with Alhaitham, but he's jealous.
Hype extroverted reader X Alhaitham
; no warnings(some cuss words), probably not angst just wholesome & HEAD CANNONS ONLY !!
;I'm new to tumblr (not rly!) 😔 I just wanted to express my writing and I CANNOT ASSURE you a perfect grammar yeah, I'm keeping everything simple I'm not good at this ahhaha please bear with me
(DMS are open)
ALHAITHAM is a busy person, everybody knows that and you know it either. To maintain a great relationship with him you have to respect his time and work.
YOU on the other side, is the most available person to hangout with. Your schedules aren't hectic and all you do is help around the city hall, wherein everybody befriends you. Asks for your help all the time, You have a vision which is why it wasn't that hard for you to help others in need. Well sometimes you just have no choice and accept all the unnecessary commissions that were thrown for you.
"Come on Kathryn! You can't make me babysit a child for my commission! I just finished fighting those monsters and my final commission is to babysit??" You sighed as if you had no choice but to accept the most unnecessary commissions that you ever had.
"It's the only commission left, well then I wish you well." Kathryn said, as you went off to the place where you had to babysit a child.
FEW MINUTES had passed you were at a public place yet the child you were babysitting kept bugging you and asking if you're his mom. He wasn't a baby he looked like he was around 5 or 6 years old, he looked like every child that you see in your everyday life around sumeru.
"I'm not your mom, little child." His stares had darkened and was about to throw a fit, but suddenly a man with gray hair came. He didn't look like a local sumeru man for you. He was good looking, really good looking.
You shook your head and removed your own thoughts from flowing even more, but the young kid you were babysitting was getting mad and mad asking if you're his mother, but because of your naughty mind you decided to tell a joke to a kid.
"Hey child, if I'm your mother then that man right there has to be your father!" You chuckled while pointing out the man who had a gray hair, the child unexpectedly ran after the man who you just pointed out while screaming the word 'FATHER'. you realized you fucked up and let your naughty thoughts win.
'Oops, I should've known that young children don't know what being sarcastic is..'
That was the first time you met the busiest man, Alhaitham.
If you're wondering how the babysitting ended up, hmm you can say it did end well, because you're dating the gray haired man who was really good looking. You found out sooner that he was an acting grand sage, alhaitham. But you were lucky enough that he liked you and that you started dating months later, but it wasn't that easy. He was a strict person and he hurt you with his words most of the time before you started dating of course.
But now he just showers you with sweet words, but you know he can't shower you with his full attention. You can't live in the same house as him, you can't hold your hands together when going outside, you can't be lovey-dovey touchy clingy with him but he wasn't mad at all when you shower him with so much affection and too much physical touch he just got used to it.
He still did want to keep your relationship private and secret at all times just because he wanted to protect you, you told him a lot of times that you didn't need that much 'protection' because you can stand at your own feet but oh archons he was just so protective of you, the only time you can meet him alone is when you visit him at the akademiya , everybody knew that you were just his guest and nothing more then there's where you'll be all lovey-dovey because he has his own office. Sometimes you stay for hours sometimes the whole day because you just love him and when he looks at you. You knew he felt the same way too.
At the public when you both see each other, he just takes so many glances at you while you were out there talking to everyone, you were the extroverted type that likes to socialize with just anyone you met or see. One of the reasons why he liked you was because you have the energy that makes him feel energized and cheered up at all times.
YOU felt his stare while you were talking to a man you just met around the sumeru, he was a few meters away but you can FEEL it all.
"Aww really!? It's your first time here then I shall help you to get used to sumeru? What do you think?" You said the words enthusiastically. You smiled at the man you were talking to, the man you were talking to felt really shy and blushed when he heard your offer.
ALHAITHAM on the other hand was annoyed, really annoyed listening to your conversation with the man. He wanted to take your hand and run away and kiss you but he remembered you're keeping the relationship private and secret from everyone.
The man you were talking to was about to speak when you heard alhaitham's voice beside you.
"I apologize for being disruptive, but I don't see a reason why you should accompany this man around Sumeru; I can send an akademiya scholar to accompany this man instead of you." He said in the middle of your conversation
He was definitely jealous! You can feel his glare as if he was about to kill that man you were talking to but you gave him a small smile and turned to look at the man.
"I- umm.. alright sir! Sure I want that." The man said shyly as he looked down, he couldn't look at anyone but the floor.
The man now went with an akademiya scholar to go around the sumeru and you were in public with Alhaitham ALONE for the first time.
"Hmp!, I wanted to stroll around the sumeru." You said with a little disappointment when he took the man away.
"Then let's do that." He said with a sigh then looked at you straight in your eyes. You can feel him looking at your soul.
"you're not busy?" You said excitedly while grabbing his hands, completely forgetting about the fact that you are in a public place.
"Never for you." Finally, he took your hand and gave a small little smile while walking around the sumeru.
It was your first time holding hands in public and after that rumors started spreading that you're dating the acting grand sage, which you both didn't deny. You feel much happier now that there's no need to hide what you both had.
It's a normal day and you're spending time together at his big office while you're reading books and he's busy working his ass off but it was more than enough for you, you felt at serenity and assured knowing you can kiss, hold his hand and be touchy anytime, anywhere you can !

You know what I want to dig into .... Star Trek Prodigy S2 .... and here is going to be my first post on it. (spoilers under the cut)
As a fan of Star Trek since I could even remember ... I have always been drawn in by the characters of Trek. I could go on and on about the way TNG, its movies, and the TOS movies were there for me in my formative years and helped me throughout my life. Then go on again about how I found the other shows as I got older and did a complete Trek watch in 2012 exposing myself to ALL of Star Trek and finding myself enthralled by the USS Voyager and its Captain Kathryn Janeway.
For me, I was already thrilled when Prodigy was announced because as a kid no show for kids ever really appealed to me but a Star Trek show that would have had me running for the television every single moment it aired (not that I wasn't doing the same for TNG). The announcement that Janeway was going to be in it was honestly just a bonus. Kathryn Janeway was my guide, my beacon in the dark ... and to have her be that for the children made so much sense to me.
Season one dropped and aired in the final weeks of my fathers life, its second half of the season coming in like a beacon in the dark of my grief and depression during that time. Janeway once more was there for me, and along with her were the amazing children leading this show. Each of these children faced their own difficulties and challenges, they grew and learned to become something more than they were at the start of the season. Waiting for season two was difficult but it was easy when I knew that it would be worth it. And it was ...
Since I finished season two the hug between Beverly Crusher and Wesley Crusher has sat with me. Its brought me to tears, to smiles, to feeling as if the world can and will be okay again. I saw the family I viewed as my space family reunited on screen once more and immediately thought of my father ... of my own mother (who is still around and also shares a love a Trek just as my father did). The found family within Prodigy reminds me so much of how I myself found a family within Trek as a child, watching Beverly Crusher and seeing her as a mother on my screen. Watching Wesley and listening as he received guidance from the crew around him, wondering what it would be like to be him. TNG was my space family - Beverly my chosen space mom.
And Prodigy brought the reunion I needed to see before my eyes all while crafting another family on the screen that I - as an adult - adore and love so much that I view them as family once more.
On top of all this ... the show repeatedly gave mention to Picard in various ways (not just the series but also the Captain). I love the way that Admiral Janeway makes a comment about promising Admiral Picard she won't lose Voyager-A. The way that when she talks to Beverly it becomes "Jean-Luc" she asks about, professionalism slipping just a little (something that for Janeway is very integral to her character), and when she is called back to Starfleet because of the Mars attack the first thing she asks is about Admiral Picard.
To me, it is clear that its not just the kids that have a found family and its not just Janeway Voyager crew that is a found family being called back to .... Janeway's devotion and family being Starfleet is being echoed within the way she speaks of Picard. The way that she tells Wesley to go to his mother. I just love the subtle nuances being put into the show centering on the bond of family. Not just those of blood but those you chose. The sheer love, devotion, care, and so much more shown within the characters and between the various characters says so much. I greatly appreciate what Star Trek Prodigy is doing with this particular theme. And I cannot wait to see where it goes from here.

i think you said in response to a previous ask that octavian and antony are a Worse version of the brutus and cassius gladiator-statesman dynamic, and that octavian and agrippa are a different thing that wasn't relevant at the moment. i was wondering if you meant that octavian and agrippa are a thing outside the gladiator statesman dynamic (and if so, any ideas on why that is?) or that they were a different version of that dynamic?
also, this is the same anon who asked about using some of your quotes in a presentation! it ended up going pretty well considering most people there weren't unwell about dead romans!
octavian and agrippa are thing outside of that dynamic! this is, ofc, a YMMV type of thing, this is very much getting into creative/thematic nonsense that I like to play with as someone who makes comics
but basically the cut off for the statesman-gladiator/politician-warrior dynamic is philippi. things get hazy leading up to philippi because julius caesar has already eroded a core element to rome's structure, which is that it's made HIM the focus point of politics. there is no longer room for horizontal alliances of power amongst men vying for prestige, there is only room for vertical loyalty (so like, a more extreme version of patronage and bossism politics) (and disloyalty! because you get stabbed if you make people unhappy!! you make your body one with the state and people will let you know what they think of you. and the state.)
Antony, Fulvia, and the Ghost of Clodius in 47 BC, Kathryn E Welch
so by the time octavian wins, standing on top of everyone else, the general power structure of rome has changed and it's not going back. it looks the same, and people are going 'nooooo it's still a republic, LOOKS like the republic!' while dragging around decayed corpse, but it's different.
Caligula, Aloys Winterling
octavian and agrippa are co regents, with octavian as the clear head of state and agrippa, who is borderline unwell in his devotion to octavian, and somehow it worked for them. like, for them specifically it balanced out into a partnership.
Ancestor Masks and Aristocratic Power in Roman Culture, Harriet I Flower
in theory, this kind of dynamic (with a domestic politician and a general to enact imperialist policy) would be the blue print that would continue down, and boy did they try. tiberius and sejanus. caligula and macro. good grief. the system of relationships and obligations that allowed this kind of dynamic to show up frequently in the republic falls apart here because power corrupts, baby, and with a state assuming a body, there's no way that power is going distribute itself. everyone is going to want to be that body. except agrippa, who was devoted to octavian, but you can't. replicate that kind of intimacy even if you want to.
so it LOOKS like a statesman-gladiator dynamic, but they're really just co regents in practice, but the actual framework is closer to a king and his knight. they are also. incest adjacent. ground zero for the incest circus that happens later? or maybe something else.
basically the logic for that is the way that octavian kept trying to get agrippa into the family tree to make agrippa his heir prompted this kind of. increasingly more insular behavior. AND THIS TOO
Ancestor Masks and Aristocratic Power in Roman Culture, Harriet I Flower
additionally, I think proximity to octavian-imperial rome dooms a lot of people. agrippa dies before octavian, tiberius' character goes on a definitive downward arc. brother-pairs as rulers, caligula's hellenistic tendencies and the incest allegations with his sisters, the twin-ification of pairs--
Tiberius and the Heavenly Twins, Edward Champlin
--agrippina and nero. Everything Nero Was Doing With Masks And Theater Sure Was Weird. there's a kind of house dynamic going on with imperial rome, but the whole thing is a mouth eating itself. rot. pater patriae. in a permanent state of digestion. etc/
that last one is a thought I'm work shopping, but basically to me all of this is a worse version of the statesman/gladiator dynamic because of the concentration of power.
#like. octavian augustus is this awful vulture that steals from everything and then gnaws away at it#like. taking the vulture accusations away from pompey. octavian augustus outran ALL of you in the Theft Department#ALSO IM GLAD THAT YOUR PRESENTATION WENT WELL! hell yeah!!!#ask tag#(squints at this) i think i got off track. but my thoughts are rarely linear. so. i tried my best. hopefully it is coherent

When your writing slight Agatha and Rio smut, wondering if it at all any good and then realise…
We haven’t even had a proper photo of Rio, let alone Agatha and Rio together. This whole chapter is about them and I’m proofreading, stressing about accuracy when we don’t even know anything about them. Frankly, we don’t even really know how Agatha acts with her wife/ in real life because everything we saw was an act in WV.
They are so real to me… until I remember we STILL have gotten literally nothing and I’ve made quite a lot of this up based on leaks, comics (which doesn’t help for Rio) and how their Kathryn and Aubrey act usually.
… I genuinely think I’m going insane.
Anyway, it’s a lot of fluff because life is slowly going down the drain and I needed to make myself happy some way. It’s probably not accurate but it will be up tonight. Finally.

Salem Seven will be back, and with some answers
Despite what Jac suggested about Salem Seven being dead, I strongly believe they are important and we will see them again. Their story will not only make a lot of sense, but also tie up quite a few threads - especially the question whether or not Agatha walked the road before.
As explained in episode 5, when Agatha murdered her mother’s coven, she spared their young children. They then became “a feral, hive-minded coven bend on revenge”. Yes, we could easily assume their revenge was for killing their mothers, but I think there is more to it – especially the part on how they became so feral.
We see that there is this maternal/mentor side to Agatha, all the way back to her babysitting the twins in Wandavision. Of course, the kids might have had fathers, but even Kathryn said in her recent interview that the show really doesn’t mention men because witches have been so independent. The theme that a witch needs her coven is strong in the show, so I think it would make sense if Agatha, despite being hurt by her mother and the original witches, still sought to be the head of her own coven.
So whether she took care of the children after the events, or grew up alongside them (she was one of the coven’s kids too, after all), she probably held a prominent role in their lives and used this as an opportunity to manipulate the children so that they became her own coven once they grew up. They probably didn’t even know Agatha was the one who killed their mothers.
Eventually, something made them want to walk the Witches Road. I wonder if it was the death of Nicholas Scratch or maybe something else. But it was enough for them to summon it. I think Rio was in the coven by that time too (my theory she was called to Agatha during her attempted execution, when the witches chanted at her in Latin “Death to unnatural monster”) – which may be why summoning the Witches Road worked. However, it didn’t look like anything like the road we are seeing in the show, because “The road changes for the coven”, reflecting the intentions of the witches that walk it. I would argue there even was a daylight (“our” road is perpetual night because that’s how Billy imagined it, he’s fascinated by the meaning of the moon phases, as seen in his room, spell book and outfit – I think this is also why his tarot card for “what’s missing?” was none other than “The Sun”. I don’t think Billy is knowingly controlling the Road – but we know his intentions are really powerful)
Unfortunately, the Road does not work out for the Salem coven – I think as they go into the first trial, they actually fail it – I would venture a guess it was because Agatha was trying to cut corners as usual. But because Rio was there and she is essentially “a tourist”, she got both her and Agatha out, abandoning the rest of the coven. So the Salem Seven didn’t die but became trapped on the Witches Road because the coven was now incomplete (remember “together or not at all”). That’s what eventually made them so feral and angry at Agatha for all of this.
I think this is exactly why Lilia so pointedly told them in ep.7 “You may not know this about the road, but when you succesfully complete a trial - like I just did - it’s not a good idea to overstay your welcome. Usually, something terrible happens.” I think her message had multiple meanings all at once:
she was telling them they are going to regret pursuing her in her own trial, and
she knew they failed their own trials before, and
a message specifically to Vertigo (cicada) – more on this later.
So then the missing witches become known as this “Salem Seven”, while Agatha perpetuates her half-truth that she survived the Witches Road. And if her intentions for the road really were to bring Nicholas back, that would also explain why she lets people believe that she simply traded her own child for Darkhold. With that lie she can pretend that she had some level of control over the events. But in reality, she failed to save her son because of her own flaws/cowardice and abandoned her own coven in the process.
This brings me back to “our” Witches Road. The Spirit trial has always been a point of contention, particularly because a lot of the trial elements felt inconsistent to the previous one (even to the point where the aspect ratio didn’t change) and the objective of the trial just made no sense. But the road leading to the trial was purple and the blood moon did mean it was a spirit trial (talking to the dead). So in that sense, I think it was Agatha’s trial.
HOWEVER, right before the witches land their broomsticks, Vertigo stands in their way and releases her cicadas onto them. Later on, we see Agatha pulling things out of her hair and I think there must have been cicadas entangled in there. So I believe Vertigo made her way inside. And because technically she was part of Agatha’s coven (just not this coven), the trial was actually hers to pass – that is why the task is to “punish Agatha”. It’s still Agatha’s trial but in that sense where the word “trial” is less about “testing”, but more about “being judged in court”.
Edit as I don't think I made it clear: I believe if Vertigo didn't hijack it, the trial would've been about Agatha communicating with Nicholas and getting her closure that way. Notice how he does appear but only once Alice blasts Evanora
This is also why Agatha doesn’t get her powers at the end of it, even though they passed (and we know they passed because the exit appears and the road colour changes). It was Vertigo who is going to get her wish out of this one – most likely to keep with the theme if imprisoning Agatha on the Road (remember Evanora said “you must finish the witches road without Agatha” – a fitting punishment to someone who did the same to their own coven first).
EDIT: It occurred to me this could have also been a message from Evanora directly to Vertigo - just telling her to finish the road and leave Agatha with her.
That is why I think Lilia meant her message for Vertigo too. I think she probably knows that Vertigo survives (only 5 bodies are impaled at the end, so I think the Owl and Vertigo as cicada escape – this is also shown on the tarot card) and she warns her not to “overstay her welcome” on the Road and leave. I think in the future Vertigo will finally confront Agatha, calling her a coward for leaving them, before trying to imprison her (referenced by Lilia in “when she calls you a coward, hit the deck!”).
What do you think?

Fandom Ask:
Agatha All Allong - 8, 11, 17, 19
Ship: Vidarkness - 11, 19
Character: Rio or Agatha: 1, 8
For the fandom ask game:
8. …a quote from it that means a lot to me.
In terms of specific dialogue lines, I seem to keep coming back to Lilia’s observation that “Sad is better than angry” when looking at relationships. It just seems to ring true, and there’s something to be said about how sadness is probably the closest space to acceptance when it comes to grief and loss.
From another perspective, I will forever appreciate the line “If you want a straight answer, ask a straight lady”. Its significance in terms of representation, its delivery, how it’s absolutely a thing a gay person would say, how Schaeffer happily stands behind it — all of it.
11. …what I think of the central character(s).
Isa I’ve written SO MUCH meta already! Get in the tag, people!
17. …the world-building aspect of the story I have the greatest admiration for.
I really admire how with the context of the MCU they really defined and celebrated witches and witchcraft. Like even in Wandavision I really appreciated how they built up the lore around the Scarlet Witch as a mythical figure, not just someone with weird powers.
They made it such that there’s a whole culture and identity, and history and community and tradition around being a witch. Witches can bend reality but also perform small miracles with analogue magic. Magic is intention. Witches are selfish, but they also need a coven.
Witches in the MCU are now a thing to be respected and feared (looking at you MoM Strange). And that’s not even touching on how they defined Death as The Green Witch.
19. …one behind-the-scenes trivia fact I've learned somewhere and my thoughts on it.
I’m tickled by the fact that they had a live tarantula on set and Aubrey Plaza couldn’t handle it. Her end credits frame features a tarantula crawling across the screen too. And this same witchy woman wore a spider-themed outfit to the D23 event.
There’s plenty of symbolism around spiders of course, including ones around death and creation, although I wonder if there’s a specific reference they were going for.
⸻⊱༺ ♰ ༻⊰⸻
11. …how quickly I started shipping them when I got into the fandom.
I started shipping them the moment Rio said the line about being in control and Agatha's brain visibly short-circuited. It was all downhill from there baby.
19. …if this is a ship that's likely to take up room in my heart for years and decades to come or if they're the summer romance that will probably fade into the past with a fond memory.
Honestly no idea! Depends whether we get more content with them, and depends on the fandom and fanworks. The heart goes where the heart goes.
⸻⊱༺ ♰ ༻⊰⸻
1. …why I love them, like them or hate them.
Love, obviously duh, for the both of them.
I mean, everything Kathryn Hahn aside, Agatha’s such a compelling character with seemingly contradictory traits.
She's so smart but also so dumb. She's clever and tactical but also so driven by ego and hubris and has so much trauma she fucks things up. She can be so powerful and commanding but also so shameless when it comes to surviving. She can be so mean and so funny but also so broody and sad.
And she's a witch! Because I like supernatural things.
For Rio, well y'know I have this huge soft spot when it comes to autistic coded characters who aren't quite human. The ones who feel too much but also not enough, who are maybe too honest and direct and weird and lonely.
8. …a headcanon I have about this character.
With all that this show leaves open for interpretation the line between headcanon and canon sure is fuzzy. Hm, I like to think that deep down Agatha does get that the folks of Westview looked after her when they didn't have to, during a period where she was most vulnerable, and she doesn't know what to do with this feeling. But she will be keeping an eye on the town when she can.
As for Rio, my headcanon is that the Snap really pissed her off and potentially fucked her up. What the fuck is this perfect balance bullshit. She would absolutely bring Thanos back just to very painfully kill him again if she could.

2024 Horror Challenge: [1/?]
↳“They say time heals all wounds, but time is the wound.” Lisa Frankenstein (2024) dir. Zelda Williams
Plot: A coming-of-rage love story about a teenager and her crush, who happens to be a corpse. After a set of horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a journey to find love, happiness - and a few missing body parts.
Starring: Kathryn Newton, Cole Sprouse, Liza Soberano, Henry Eikenberry, Joe Chrest & Carla Gugino
Goodness, another horror challenge has officially begun (technically this wasn't my first horror watch of the year, I have a few others I need to make a review for) but it figures this would be the one that convinces me to make the first post for this year's challenge (my 8TH YEAR doing it!) I was excited about it when I first heard it was going to be a thing. It looked like it was gonna be super fun as a concept. Not that it's completely original (reanimating life has been done more than plenty. Case in point - I literally watched Poor Things before this. lmao) but knowing that the script was coming from the zany mind of Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer's Body) I knew to go into this expecting the tone to be at least slightly off. And well, ofc it was. lol I don't know if it ended up being an instant classic as I thought it would be but I honestly don't really care because overall, I did really enjoy it. Kathryn Newton really impressed me once again like she did in Freaky, really owning that scream queen title. I loved her so much. And her chemistry with Cole was rather solid imo, despite his role mostly being silent. I thought Liza Soberano was a definite scene stealer as her step-sister Taffy as well. And ofc I gotta mention the wonderful Carla Gugino who is always good because her character was quite memorable, despite not being in it very long. I'm a sucker for a comedy horror so I'm not surprised I ended up liking it even though I've seen some mixed reactions (tho more good) It probably could have been better but I will say, even the movies from the 80's that you can tell inspired this one even had their flaws so let's not pretend they were perfect. I think this lived up enough to my expectations that I'm gonna say it now, I can see this one making it on the end-of-the-year faves list. Maybe it won't be for everyone but I think it was pretty good, for whatever that's worth. lol

shows that were cancelled
(but were pretty good and should've gotten more seasons)
the society (2019)
synopsis:
a group of teenagers go on a school trip, but are forced to return to their town because of a storm; only to realize that everyone on the town has vanished. the series shows them trying to understand what happened and finding ways to survive on their own.
genre: mystery, teen drama
starring: kathryn newton, gideon adlon, sean berdy, natasha liu bordizzo, jacques colimon, olivia dejonge, alex fitzalan, kristine froseth
platform: netflix
thoughts:
i was so surprised when this show got cancelled. it didn't really have the biggest audience but a little before it got cancelled (if i'm not wrong), its popularity grew. and before it got cancelled, it was already renewed for a s2 but because of covid affecting production (idk how), they had to cancel, and of course i was very pissed bc it's a really good show. it was interesting because you legitimately had no idea why they disappear, you can only assume.
fate: the winx saga (2021-2022)
synopsis:
after causing a fire in her family home, bloom peters is invited to attend alfea college for fairies to work on her skills and learn how to control her magic.
genre: teen drama, supernatural, fantasy
starring: abbey cowen, hannah van der westhuysen, precious mustapha, eliot salt, elisha applebaum, danny griffin, sadie soverall
platform: netflix
thoughts:
i love this show so much, i am still very upset that they cancelled it. i understand that at first it got a lot of backlash because they replaced flora with terra and musa was white instead of asian. and people hated the fashion as well. i get all of that. but i also feel like the writers really learned to listen to people more as the show went on because s2 was such a big difference compared to the first one, and that's why the audience grew because the fashion was better, the plot was better, all around it was much better. so i was really looking forward to see how the writers would make the show better than it was, and it surprised me when it got cancelled bc it was pretty popular and it had a lot of potential. i miss the cast so much, and i really wish we could've seen more of them.
grease: rise of the pink ladies (2023)
synopsis:
it's four years before the events of grease and follows the lives of the founding members of the pink ladies. they are four outcasts who decide that they don't want to live up to the expectations of everyone else.
genre: musical, romantic drama
starring: marisa davila, cheyenne isabel wells, ari notartomaso, tricia fukuhara, shanel bailey
platform: paramount+ (they removed it, so you'd have to look for it on the web)
thoughts:
i fear paramount is not seeing the pearly gates for cancelling this show. it was absolute amazing, the chemistry between the main girls and the t birds. the cliffhanger, the music, the plot, the inclusion, it was all wonderful. what pisses me off the most about this cancellation is that they did it a few weeks after the last episode aired, like literally not even a month after. and it sucks because it's been shown time and time again that some shows need time to grow in order to reach more people. an example of this is on my block. barely anyone watched on my block s1, but by the time on my block s2 was released more people were watching, and the same thing happened with each season. same thing happened with fate: the winx saga. so i don't really understand why they didn't give it a chance. plus a lot of these actors are young and this was one of their first acting experiences on tv and they did absolutely amazing. i totally recommend it if you're into musicals.

Happy Threshold.2! And happy 2 days until Prodigy season 2! Let's celebrate with a silly little flash fic, inspired by the prompt "I've made a calculated error."
Jankom Pog CanNOT Fix It
"Jankom! Have you seen this?" Dal exclaimed, crashing through the door of their shared quarters so loudly that Jankom nearly fell out of his chair.
"WHAT?" exclaimed the irritated Tellarite. He was really trying to be on his most agreeable behavior, now that he was an actual Starfleet (warrent) officer… but Dal made it hard sometimes.
Dal waved a PADD in Jankom's face and offered only the sparcest of explanations: "This! How could they not tell us about this?? We could make it to Solum and back in no time!"
"Uh… Jankom has no idea what you are talking about," the engineer stammered unconvincingly. Of course he had learned about the spore drive in his engineering classes, but that technology had been declared unsafe and classified over a century ago. There was no way Dal could have just stumbled upon it on his own.
"Look," Dal insisted, finally holding the PADD still long enough for Jankom to read it.
"WARP TEN?!" Jankom yelped. OK, so not the spore drive then… at least that was a relief. "Warp ten is impossible," he declared, stubbornly crossing his arms over his chest.
"No, it isn't," Dal insisted. "Look, Admiral Janeway herself did it! I wonder why she doesn't just use it now?"
"The Voyager-A is not equipt to handle warp ten. But the original Voyager wasn't either… Hmmm," Jankom skimmed the rest of the article, scratching his head as he thought. "The shuttle modifications don't look all that complicated…"
"So you could do it? We could do it? Go warp ten, find Chakotay, get Gwyn, and be back in time for gamma shift?" Dal begged, his neck appendage swishing excitedly behind him.
"Maaaaybe…" Jankom said reluctantly, but that was all Dal needed to hear.
"Yes! I knew it! Let's go!" Dal exclaimed, already dragging Jankom towards the door.
His enthusiasm was contagious, and Jankom did love a challenge, so he brushed aside his doubts (like why wouldn't Admiral Janeway have just done this to begin with if it's so easy), and gleefully followed Dal to the shuttle bay. 🔟 🦎🦎🦎 🔟
The EMH closed his eyes and rubbed his temples. Holograms don't get headaches, but he had spent enough time with Kathryn Janeway to know when one might be appropriate.
"Let me guess, warp ten?" he asked dryly.
Dal and Jankom Pog sat on biobeds in front of him, nodding miserably.
The change was subtle on Jankom, the all-too-familiar slimy scales largely camoflaged by the Tellarite's thick hide. He probably could have concealed it a bit longer if not for the fact that he was struggling to breathe the ship's air.
Dal, on the other hand, had not only begun to sprout scales and lose the ability to breathe, but the various contributions to his DNA seemed to be evolving at different rates which caused body parts to bulge and change at random. It must have been terribly uncomfortable, and the EMH might even have felt sorry for him if not for the fact that it was the boy's own fault.
"You are very lucky to have me on board. I am the only doctor in the entire fleet who knows how to reverse this, you know," the EMH bragged. He probably could have continued on for quite a while, tooting his own horn, if not for the newest arrival to sickbay.
"Doctor, just get on with it. You can tell them about your endless accomplishments later," Admiral Janeway ordered sternly, adding under her breath, "It can be a part of their punishment."
The EMH busied himself preparing the appropriate treatments while the Admiral marched over to the boys, a stern look plastered on her face. The boys cowered as she laid into them about responsibilities and regulations and punishments.
When she was done, she stood back, put her hands on her hips, and looked them over with a discerning eye. Her voice was gentler when she spoke again, and her eyes glinted with mischief. "Impressive work, boys. Don't do it again. You're just lucky we found you before you finished evolving." She leaned in conspiratorially and added, "I can tell you from experience, being a salamander ain't all it's cracked up to be."
With that, the Admiral turned on her heel and left the boys to the mercies of the EMH.
Dal appeared more confused than ever, but Jankom suddenly remembered something the Admiral had said long ago, when her consciousness was in Dal's body and he shouted, "WHAT?! JANKOM THOUGHT THAT WAS A JOKE!"

There’s a lot of movies I haven’t seen yet this year because going to the cinema is bloody expensive and you can have a couple of months of nothing grabbing your interest and then suddenly 4 movies come out in the same week and somehow I’m meant to choose which movie I want to see the most? Well last month I didn’t pick Abigail and I’ll admit that was solely on the fact the film was by Radio Silence and the focus was on Melissa Barrera. I thought Ready Or Not was a great film but I hated what they did to the Scream franchise. I haven’t really seen Melissa in anything else but I just hate her character in Scream so much it’s hard to separate her right now. So with Abigail hitting streaming services, I finally gave it a viewing.
Now we all know what this movie is about thanks to the trailer: a little girl comes home from what is presumedly a ballet class, is kidnapped by a group of criminals and she turns out to be a vampire. That is basically the extent of the entire plot. Six completely random crims, where none of them look like the type capable of pulling off something of this magnitude even if it is just glorified babysitting, but it only takes Joey (Melissa Barrera) 30 seconds to prove she’s incompetent for the job when she believes everything Abigail tells her. The second hand embarrassment was real when Joey did this not once, but twice, then stands there saying how smart Abigail is for manipulating them. I feel like Joey would be really susceptible to TV advertising. The kind of person to believe something on wikipedia because nothing on wikipedia is ever wrong – and it is, you should look up the plot to Robert the Doll on there. It’s hilarious but oh so wrong! They all realise this little girl is a vampire and stand around discussing the ways to kill a vamp. Of course, Twilight is mentioned. Garlic, sunlight and holy water are the obvious answers, 2 of which are useless to them at 3:30am barricaded inside a large house but the dumb got dumber when Sammy (Kathryn Newton) runs out of the kitchen with a bag of garlic and she gets a quick lesson on what an onion looks like. I wish I could say the movie gets better, but for me, it didn’t.
Early on with teaser trailers, people were very quick to make comparisons to M3GAN – all because of a young girl and a dance routine – and that’s not much of a comparison. Honestly it’s kind of insulting to compare a Tiktok dance to ballet. Though for a kid that’s been around for a few centuries, I’ll guess ballet is a relatively new hobby for her but her ballet skills are better than whoever was in charge of giving Sammy tattoos. I don’t know what is going on in Hollywood right now where every ‘edgy’ character that exists in a movie must have some of the absolute shittest tattoos that ever existed. The kind of tattoos that look like they were done in your mates crack den with the tattoo gun he bought from Temu. Harry Styles is not the poster boy for how to look cool with tattoos, okay? Just employ someone from Ink Master, they could draw you up something real nice compared to the random black drawings that look like were done with a felt tip pen.
Plot wise I was mostly pretty bored to the point where I started wondering if I should count how many times the word FUCK was said in the movie, because that one word is definitely like 30% of the script. Total overkill, just like that time someone let Chris Rock near a Saw film. Even the way some of them were dying – just fully exploding bloody messes – was straight out of Ready Or Not and didn’t feel very imaginative.
I’m sure to have no fans with this but Melissa Barrera’s acting just doesn’t do it for me. This was just another character I couldn’t stand where she was gullible at every turn while also being holier than thou. Can we normalise not praising a movie just because some actor/actress you’re fangirling over is in it? Let’s raise the bar a little!
Any rating I give this movie is going to Alisha Weir. She pulled off playing a terrified and vulnerable little girl, a vampire child who likes to play with her food and she was definitely the smartest person in the room. Her ability to switch between meek child to ruthless killer and back again makes her someone to watch – I’ll be interested to see what she does in the future!
Lastly, I’m saddened that after hearing ‘Tiny Dancer’ a few times in the beginning, not once was Elton John played in the movie. What a missed opportunity.

Why bisexual people identify as gay - in their own words
Because identifying as gay is in some way preferable to identifying as bisexual:
"I felt at home as a gay man. It was an identity that felt solid and all-encompassing." - Simon Eilbeck
"Jeremiah and Sierra felt that openly identifying as gay and queer, respectively, was much easier than identifying as bisexual." - Jayna Tavarez
Because of a commitment to a gay "lifestyle":
"I am still gay. If I have relationships with women they will be nearer to gay relationships with women than heterosexist ones." - 'Andy'
"'Bisexual' always felt like I still belonged at least somewhat to the heteronormative world... 'Gay' meant I was setting myself apart from every lie I'd told myself growing up." - Kathryn Lesko
"Identifying as a lesbian is more than who is sleeping in your bed, as any unpartnered lesbian can tell you... It’s not a simple matter for her of “exchanging lesbian oppression for heterosexual privilege.” It is an enormous trauma to be forced... to choose." - 'Dajenya'
Because of a commitment to gay rights activism:
"As the oppression of gay people and homosexuality surges all around us in increasing waves, I feel I want to assert my gayness all the more... While the fence is there I want to stand on the gay side of it." - David Burkle
“Even though I do see myself as bisexual, I decided to go to the other side of the spectrum because I feel that the oppression is really coming from there. It’s really easy for people to ignore that side of me. So in order for that not to happen I have chosen to define myself as a gay activist, even though in reality I know that there is always another part of me." - Billy Jones
“I made a decision fairly early in my public coming out to frequently use the word gay when speaking to the mainstream heterosexual community. I did not want to have my bisexuality seen as minimising the side of me that is gay." - Dave Matteson
“There is a strong element among bisexual political activists of people who work hard within lesbian and gay campaigns and actively identify with the lesbian and gay movement, even though lesbians and gays may not always realise that there are bisexuals in their midst.” - Sharon Rose
Because of fear of rejection from the gay community:
“If a person has come to identify as lesbian or gay and become a part of lesbian or gay communities, she or he has probably undergone a grieving of heterosexual models and quite possibly has experienced the loss of support from some friends and relatives in the heterosexual community. If he or she then recognizes heterosexual attractions, coming out as bisexual to gay or lesbian friends may involve new rejections and new grief." - Dave Matteson
“Many people privately identify as bisexual but, to avoid conflict and preserve their ties to a treasured community, choose to label themselves publicly as lesbian, gay, or straight, further contributing to bisexual invisibility. These women and men feel terror at the thought of being cast out or ostracized from the community from which they derive their support, nourishment, and sense of self." - Robyn Ochs
“There are women who would no longer approve of me if they knew I was bisexual. I would hate to lose my good name in the lesbian community." - Judy Freespirit
"To be totally honest, I did briefly give up and let mysellf 'gay-pass'... The less I corrected assumptions, the more I was welcomed (and hired) by the lesbian and gay community." - Sandra Alland
Because of external pressure:
"It seems that the hardest part about owning one’s bisexuality is resisting the pressure to choose one label over the other. Everyone wants you to do that." - Betsey Ringel and Ann Lewis
"People with bisexual desires have often thought that they were bad, confused and greedy, or have repressed their feelings. They begin to wonder why they cannot choose one sex over another - what is wrong with them." - Sue George
They don't identify as gay, but are assumed to be anyway:
"You are bisexual, but everyone who knows you assumes you are a lesbian and those who don't assume you are straight." - Chitra Ramaswamy
“Reviewers called my bisexual book a lesbian book, and it stuck. They assumed the poems about men were from before I came out.” - Sandra Alland
"I always felt a fraud when I spent a lot of time with lesbians: perhaps if I’d had a big ‘B’ stamped on my forehead I would have felt more comfortable, and not as though I was unintentionally deceiving people." - Anonymous, quoted by Sue George
