I feel like Star Trek Prodigy is not getting enough attention. It's a great show and a good starting point if you don't know much about Star Trek (it also ties in well with other shows in the franchise). 🖖
And it's a beautifully animated show.
Maybe watch it so we have a chance of getting a third season. 😊

This! The show is picking up a lot of steam on Twitter, which is amazing, but it needs all the views it can get.

First time watching Prodigy with a non Trekkie
Tumblr media
It was really interesting to watch Prodigy with a friend who knows nothing about Star Trek, and to see how well Prodigy introduces a new audience to its themes, concepts, and worlds.
Whenever she had a question, one of the characters would almost immediately ask and answer that same question, which was a huge plus. Great writing there. You don't notice these things until you watch with someone who knows nothing about Trek. A lot of thought and effort went into seamlessly blending the questions and answers into the story.
She said Dal was annoying her, but that's because she realised he's essentially her, in her lack of Trek knowledge, and serves as the audience’s vessel, asking the questions the viewers might not know. Dal's role is absolutely crucial from the audience introduction side of Prodigy.
She really loved Gwyn and ofc Murf (his evolved state as well).
A lot of moments got to her as well. Tears were bent.
It was funny seeing her exhale in frustration during the S1 finale, saying, 'Can anything go right just for once???' xD
We reached and finished S2E5 before she had to go back home (she lives in a different city), and I had to ask her what she thought about the J/C status. She was like, 'Pffffft, they're romantically involved, no question about that.'
Oh, and she asked if all Star Trek was like this because she thought Trek was just a bunch of people in a room talking diplomacy, lol.

Star Trek Prodigy is one of the overall highest rated Star Trek series to date. It was saved by dedicated fans who campaigned hard to get Netflix to pick it up. Everyone who worked on the series has been excited and wanting to do more. Season 2 of Prodigy is one of the current best selling Blu-Ray DVD sets on Amazon. The show has been seen by and reviewed more positively in one month than in the 2 years since it was initially debuted. Like I cannot begin to tell you how hard it was to drum up interest in this show back during Season 1, and now it’s one of the most favorited Trek series in this current batch of Star Trek revitalizations.
Maybe I’m just feeling optimistic in the first time in years but… how could this NOT be a win for Netflix to pick up? This seems like the perfect storm of profitable for them. I really hope Netflix is smart and orders at least one more season. Please! 🙏

Just watched the latest episode of this podcast, and Aaron just said Netflix will be continuing to gather viewer data until December 31st to decide whether or not to order a 3rd season of Prodigy.
If you want to see the show continue, or if you've been meaning to catch up and watch it, now's the time! Stream when you get the chance!

What Star Trek Prodigy Means to Me
October 28th, 2024
Today is the third anniversary of the show premiere of Star Trek Prodigy! It's an exciting day for the fans as we celebrate the show and everything we like about it.
But it's also a day we celebrate our victory over the corporation who tried to axe the series for a tax write off, attempting to delete it from history much like Disney did to 'Infinity Train' - leaving only pirated copies for viewers to enjoy.
Thankfully, Paramount Plus' attempt was futile - because the fans fought like hellcats to save the show. Internet brigades, petitions, gatherings, podcasts, protests and videos… you name it, the fans have made it.
We've even flown planes over Los Angeles twice in the name of the show. We've made fandom history.
So what is it about Star Trek Prodigy that garners such a loyal fan base?
To me, it's simple. It's The entire message of the show.
Hope.
Hope is a weapon. Hope is a key to unlock opportunities and new ideas. Hope is the kind of glue that brings massive amount of people together in dark and trying times.
This show premiered during a very dark time in my life, and it brought in much needed hope. I've made friends for life through Prodigy, and the entire adventure with saving the show has taught me many things.
With a group of former slaves escaping to freedom and finally finding themselves traveling and exploring the stars - to me, Star Trek Prodigy is the core of what makes Star Trek actually Star Trek. Adventure, family, and hope.
Star Trek Prodigy is the hope for Star Trek's future - a show that brings together the old, the young, and the in-between. The fact that the execs wised up and gave it to Netflix means that, even if Paramount sets it's own pants on fire time after time again - our little show will be there in the future.
Not locked away in a vault for a tax write off.
So, Netflix? Don't repeat Paramount's mistake. This is the perfect time to renew the show.
And to the fans - streaming, buying merch, and even just posting about it, all help the show.
Much love! Meg -

"I fully expected for Prodigy to go three, four, five years, just because I knew it was that good. And so, the way it ended our relationship, the JC relationship ended after season 2, I thought was a beautiful lead up to something that could have been really even more beautiful in the coming seasons. Three, four, five, six, or seven.
But I think that what was beautifully established was a respect and a love that could be platonic love, or it could be romantic love. But even at this point between the two series, they haven’t really had a chance to explore a personal relationship in a way where you can really give it time. The writers can take two or three or four episodes and explore maybe a marriage at the end of it, at the end of season seven of Prodigy.
Explore the relationship, the intimacy, which doesn’t have to be sexual, but just the attraction that they had for each other, at the very least an intellectual attraction. But of course, it was much more than that.
It just hasn't had the... At the end of season 2, the relationship grew stronger, and something beautiful can happen in (seasons) three, four, five, and on, but I don’t know if that’ll ever be given a chance because of the nature of the business. But I hope so. I hope they will revive this for a few more seasons." - Robert Beltran

Feeling like Warp-10 addled Tom Paris as I wrap my mind around all the "timey whimey stuff."
If you haven't already...go watch Prodigy on Netflix! It's worth it! I'm hoping for a future where there's a third season. 🖖🏻
