The Villains (specifically the Lov) Are Right

Especially about the civilians in Bnha

(2 Part Meta Civilians and Lov) (Warning spoilers and long Meta Post) (Permission given to re-blog)

The Lov, specifically the core League of Villains, don’t owe any consideration, atonement or apologies to the civilians in Bnha. Because since long before the Lov had even become villains, even when they were still children, the civilians decided that they don’t owe them anything at all.

Most people I’ve seen in the fandom say something like “I don’t justify or excuse the villain’s actions.”, when it comes to the destructive/murderous parts of the villain’s deeds, which is very nice and moral of them to say.

But as long as we’re talking about the average Bnha civilian, I definitely justify/excuse the Lov’s actions.

Because the “innocent” people in Bnha are awful.

Part 1 The Civilians

That’s not even an opinion really but rather a fact that’s been presented to us clearly, over and over again, in Bnha’s story.

That’s partially why I believe that, even at their worst, the Lov are still worth more than most of the civilians that we’ve been shown so far.

See Past the Labels

“Heroes”, “Villains”, “Innocent People”. All labels that are used frequently over the course of Bnha, but seeing past these, looking beyond what we’re told by the story and instead seeing what we are shown by the story, that’s where the truth is in what these characters are and the effects their actions have on each other.

In Hero stories, saving the innocent/civilians is pretty much a guarantee at any point in time, it’s a prerequisite.

Where in most of those fiction, the civilians (or any large social group of innocents) are shown to definitely be people that should be saved, that it would be a tragedy if even some of them died, no matter the numbers.

But that’s not the case here, because the civilians in bnha aren’t like what you’d normally find in a hero tale, so much so that they’re nearly incomparable to any other series’ “Innocents”.

Looking at them as a whole, they’re more like what you’d find in a horror story.

Starting with one of the largest by the numbers examples:

They’re personifications of the bystander effect/syndrome, taken to the highest degree.

A truth that’s sometimes overlooked is that, while All for One and the Shimura family played a part in making Tenko Shimura the Tomura Shigaraki that he is today, so did all the civilians above. If even a single one of them had tried to help the child that would become the most dangerous villain, no matter how that would have turned out, the person Shigaraki is now would be different, maybe entirely.

Even just one true attempt to aid the scary looking child, instead of leaving it to the heroes who weren’t there, would have made a lasting impact. Just like the civilians choosing not to lift a finger to help left a lasting impact on Shigaraki in the present.

They condemn people for things that aren’t their fault, even when the individual hasn’t done anything wrong:

These are pretty self-explanatory in the point, but these aren’t just examples of ‘bad luck’, they showcase a callous legal system and civilians willing to throw a 16 year old kid under the bus for something that was in no way his ‘stumble’ or fault.

(First Side Point: Twice didn’t turn to a life of villainy because it was his “choice”. There’s been zero evidence of any social help for victims of hero society’s circumstances, so there’s no reason to assume that Twice had any help in supporting himself after his parents died. Twice then getting fired from his low level Job and having a glaring blemish on his record (as shown above ^) was a death sentence for a normal life right then and there, especially considering the setting in hero society (Japanese culture taken to its most socially merciless), it doesn’t really need to be spelled out any more than that why he turned to a life of crime against a society that screwed him over at every level and left him to rot. Between becoming a tragic statistic that the hero state didn’t (and still doesn’t) care about or becoming a villain for the chance at having some kind of life, it’s not really a choice at all. The saying ‘Cool motive still Murder’ comes up sometimes when taking about specific villains in Bnha and my response to that would be: ‘Then Suffer and Die Nobly.’ There is no ‘being better’ because if they were better in their current circumstances, they’d just quickly become a statistic.)

They’d rather someone, even their own children; suffer in silence than be seen as anything but their “normal”:

Toga’s parents might seem like a more ‘personal’ point but they’re actually a prime example of the standard bnha civilian, caring nothing about their own suffering young and only about their own lives and normalcy. Even when Toga was obviously self-harming due to her quirk, something that couldn’t logically have been hidden from them, there was no real attempts to help her with this other than rejection (as evident by the parents stopping taking her height down on the wall when her quirk presumably manifested, clearly meant to be a hint that it was the point that they stopped caring about her) and sending her to “Quirk Counseling”, taking no responsibility in helping their child and taking none after Toga was broken under the weight of what was normal after struggling to hold back for so many years.

This mentality extends past Toga’s parents to most of bnha’s civilians.

When Dabi revealed himself as Toya and exposed the Todoroki family’s past the world, nobody cared. At least not in any way that could be considered ‘caring’.

Endeavor bought and bred his wife, and it’s very debatable whether or not the later ‘child making’ could be considered consensual.

Rei told endeavor that it was “too much” and “too cruel”, all but saying that she didn’t want to have any more children, and in the anime it’s played even more clearly:

This ^ does not seem like consent.

Also letting his first born son burn himself to his apparent death because he couldn’t be bothered to care enough to prevent it.

Endeavor knew Toya was burning himself and he never got him any psychiatric help, even though Toya was already having extreme signs of mental breaks alongside the burning, he never even thought about it.

Even if this failed in stopping Toya, Endeavor just could have pulled some strings as the number 2 hero and gotten Toya Hero tech/equipment/suits, anything that might have helped.

But all Endeavor did was tell Toya to stop and do “other things” and when that failed he simply ignored him, even though he knew his child was literally burning himself.

(Endeavor could be considered an unreliable narrator, I think other great Meta writers have already called him on that, with him telling Natsuo that he never meant to neglect any of his children, which is evident (by how he treated Toya) as complete Bullshit.)

Now do the civilians know all of this down to a T?

No, but even before the Dabi reveal there was more than enough sketchy events surrounding Endeavor to raise eyebrows on anyone paying attention.

A son burning to death alone on a mountain, another son getting a burn scar on his face and a wife in a Mental Hospital, more than a little suspicious. Nobody ever looked into it.

And after the Dabi reveal, after Endeavor confirmed what Dabi said to everyone, this is the only Civilian backlash he gets:

Nobody cared what happened to the Todoroki family; they only cared about how it affected them. The first half of that anger wasn’t even about the Todoroki drama.

And while the mention of Dabi’s victims and their families might seem like consideration, paired alongside everything else the bnha civilians are/do, I really doubt that the line comes from a genuine place of sympathy.

They have no loyalty to their best Heroes:

After everything Deku did for them, they wouldn’t risk a single thing for him. Most of them don’t even look anxious or afraid, just angry at their lives being disrupted.

Telling the kid who nearly worked himself to death, fighting so that they could have their lives back to piss off, while danger sense was being activated implying that they did mean him very real harm.

 Another big point against the Civilians that’s brought up a lot:

They’re violently racist. (Quirk-ist? Anti-Mutant? Basically against anyone very different in their appearance and/or their quirks.)

Mutants are an obvious Allegory for the racism/minority angle of the story, and it never casts the majority of the civilians in a positive light when it’s touched upon.

(Second Side point: Revisiting the end of ‘Side Point One’ because it pairs perfectly here, Shoji Mezo’s “Answer” to the horrible treatment the Heteromorph/mutants face is the opposite of that, and by that I mean Shoji’s answer is pretty much: Aspects of Uncle Tom’s Cabin Syndrome (an American theory/term but a Universal Theme) mixed with the acceptance of hero martyrdom.

His words to the Heteromorphs are this: “Let’s use that light to change the people who hurt us. So that they’ll feel ashamed to ever raise their fists against us again.”

Very inspiring…or at least it would be, were his words not disproven by his own backstory. 

Shoji got his Scars ^ after he saved the little girl, in fact him saving her life was literally the cause of it.

There is no greater way to Shine or be heroic than doing what Shoji did, saving the life of a small child from drowning to death, and for that act the “Innocent People” gave him the Joker facial treatment.

Seriously if there’s a group of people who “don’t deserve to be saved” in Bnha; it is civilians like this.

Yet Shoji’s answer is still to “Be better than mere Avengers” and if they don’t the Heteromorph’s “Children will become the next Target!” as if they weren’t already??

None of it makes sense when looking at the whole picture and it’s clearly not a great plan, to draw another American based parallel that fits too well not to be noticed despite it being American; Shoji Mezo is basically Sturdy Harris from the Boondocks TV Series (freedom ride or die episode).

Look up the character’s wiki info or watch the episode, the fact that Shoji is willing to use violence in some extreme instances might seem a difference between them but the fact that he urges the other Heteromorphs to “be better than avengers” and “use their light to change the people who hurt us until they feel ashamed”, giving no thought as to whether or not his fellow Heteromorphs could even survive living by that standard like he can, fits the comparison to a T.)

Back to the final few points about the Bnha Civilians:

Are the Civilians in Bnha conditioned to be this way, products of influence and circumstance much like the heroes and villains are?

Kind of but not really.

While it is true that there are mountains of propaganda in hero society, there’s nothing specific enough to point to and say that this is why the Bnha civilians are this level of callous. They’re conditioned to love heroes and fear the violent villains they’re fighting, not to ignore the suffering of children (even their own) completely, and they’re definitely not compelled through propaganda to reject them or scar them, nothing in the series is evident of that.

And even worse, all of these examples of the people’s flaws/incidents (excluding the Ordinary Woman Heteromorph) happened during Allmight’s “Era of Peace”, so there’s no shifting the blame onto the villain’s current actions and even less excuse for things like these to be happening.

Why should the Bnha civilians have peace or justice if they’re like this?

If they show no more empathy or loyalty than the worst, most unsympathetic villains in the series (Like AFO) then maybe their point of view shouldn’t be considered any more than his. (And even AFO had some truth in his points: Failed social framework and the Quirk Singularity.)

To draw one final example for the Civilians with another Manga series that has pretty awful ‘ordinary people’ in it: Naruto.

But even in Naruto, the Author still showed that there were good people among the Civs. Population that weren’t like that and that did deserve to be protected and live peaceful lives, people who were outside of the Ninja system and just genuinely humane.

Before Naruto became a hero who saved the village multiple times, before he was even a ninja, they treated him like the human child he was.

These characters deserve their own Meta, other Naruto fans have probably written them already.

But suffice to say that the people who treated right the abandoned and hated child, host to a demon Fox that could casually level mountains, Teuchi Ramen (Owner and Daughter), are an excellent example of giving narrative motivation to “protect the people”.

There’s not much of anything like that in Bnha’s story, not anyone to point at and say; “They are worth saving/protecting!” and having it actually be true instead of just ‘What the hero is supposed to say’.

 And if anyone disagrees with this, I’ll ask: Can one instance of goodwill be pointed to for the Bnha civilians? Any act of compassion, bravery or selflessness from someone in Bnha who wasn’t in anyway associated with heroes?

And no, the Civilians letting Deku stay at UA does not count.

It wasn’t even framed as selfless or compassionate anyway:

This ^ is a deal more than anything else.

Because the heroes (Deku) swore they’d fix things and the people practically made him swear it before they were let in.

Kota and the Ordinary Woman running to stand by Deku was a sweet and great moment but considering that he saved them first, it seemed more like a ‘returning the Favor’ sentiment. Same with the rogue Civillian group helping Shindo after he fought Muscular, more a give it back than a gift.

 Part 2 The Lov

Even at their worst, the Lov still display humanity and redeeming qualities more than most of the civilians.

And I believe that this is 100% truth because Actions/Dialogue without reason for deception and inner thoughts, imply genuine Truth.

Actions:

This ^ scene is referred back to a lot because it’s a good showing of Compassion/Bonds, one of the first really, in the League of Villains, in Toga saving Twice from ‘coming apart’.

Toga has no real reason to comfort Twice as much as she does in this series, in this first instance and in later ones, because aside from one time (no matter how cool and heartfelt it was) in MVA when Twice saves her and the rest of the League, Twice kind of messed things up more than a few times for the Lov.

Bringing Overhaul to meet the Lov without precaution resulting in the death of Magne (even though she herself rushed in recklessly), Twice’s personal hang-ups limiting his Quirk lessening his value to operations overall (from a purely strategic standpoint), and trusting Hawks (because he felt bad for him) so much he gave out Info that definitely shouldn’t have been given.

Yet despite having one singular success in MVA that Twice really pulled through among many other shortcomings, Toga still cared about him. Enough to try to help him hold himself together during the Overhaul business and then later go on a violent, rage filled assault toward the Heroes during the MLA raid after Twice was killed, giving little thought to her own safety.

Dialogue without reason for deception:

While Shigaraki is definitely an unreliable narrator, as evident by the monologue ^ in the bottom panel clearly contradicting what actually happened during the death of his family, the middle panel where he states that he only wants “Them” (definitely the Lov) to live as they see fit seems like the truth.

Because why would Shigaraki lie here? In this time or place to Redestro, someone he presently had no reason to manipulate, as they were in a life or death fight?

Shigaraki couldn’t have known Redestro would surrender, at this point he was talking to someone he fully intended to kill, further dissipating any suspect of manipulation.

Shigaraki does care about his comrades, their wishes and while he hasn’t really kept the promise he made as of current Bnha, I think that’s a result of All for One scrambling his Brain so much during the Mental Fusion stuff, the true Shigaraki barely seeming to know what’s going on half the time and only able to think about his past.

Twice and Spinner: Basically everything about them.

They might not think things through that much, but there’s no doubt that Twice and Spinner were and still are devoted to who they care about, true loyalty in all its successes and faults.

Inner Thoughts:

Dabi is…kind of a dick most of the time, even to the Lov, just to a much lesser extent than to everyone else.

It makes sense that he’d act that way though, given what he’s been through and the end goal of his plans, it’s understandable why he’d want to push everyone away in some form and not let them get too close.

But even underneath all of that, Dabi much like the rest of the core Lov never blamed Twice for his mistakes, and since this is an inner thought and thus having no reason for manipulation, it does imply that this is his honest truth.

Knowing that Twice would blame himself, although he never said it out loud, maybe he couldn’t with all of his own personal hang-ups, Dabi inside probably did want to reassure Twice that none of this was his fault.

The Core Lov do have empathy towards others abandoned and hurt by Hero Society like themselves, and they do care about each other, that is as much as they’re able to care about each other while being weighed on by their own individual issues.

 The hero kid’s parents

Lastly for this Meta, there are parts of Hero Society that shouldn’t ever be destroyed, but they fall into small groups and come with their own faults.

The Hero Kid’s parents shouldn’t be destroyed just by virtue of being so close to the better/more heroic characters, but even they aren’t that great with possibly one exception.

Inko Midoriya has technically tried to protect Izuku but she never really helped him. She basically apologies for his existence in the childhood flashback, and until Izuku got a Quirk and became a Hero, she was never really shown to encourage him in anything, even to find happiness in other things.

Despite having doubts herself about saying the wrong thing to her son, Inko later tries to keep him from going back to UA for very good reason from a parent’s point of view.

But then she’s pretty easily convinced by a promise from Allmight, that wasn’t in anyway kept. Cut to the Dark Deku stuff later, she never calls Allmight out on this.

It’s the same story with little difference for all the student’s parents, they’ve never been shown to try to protect their children, especially at the UA confrontation with the Civilian Mob.

Inko, Bakugo’s parents, Ochako’s parents, and I’m just assuming the rest of them to cause it makes sense for them to be at the UA shelter, none of them helped.

I know Inko was being held back by Mitsuki because it was dangerous, but couldn’t she have shaken her off?

Kota did and ran to Deku to try to help him, and he was a little kid being held back Pixiebob (a Hero).

That probably wasn’t what Hori was going for or implying but that’s what happened.

Is this an illogical thought process that would be dangerous or harmful for the parents? Definitely.

But that’s the point. The parental instinct that goes beyond self-preservation and logic to protect their children hasn’t been shown for any of them.

Except one.

 Rei Todoroki in the recent chapter stands apart and above in this aspect, although this depends very much on how it’s framed going forward.

A mother fighting to stop her child from killing himself more than trying to stop a Villain from killing. Both true but one has to take front over the other for it to be meaningful, for Rei to show that she will stop Touya from burning himself this time, unlike how she wouldn’t before.

That’s character development, that’s parental instinct.

 The children

Another group that definitely should never destroyed is the Young Children of Bnha, Kota, Eri, the work studies Kid group.

I put them into a separate category than the whole of the Civilians but it would take a lot to explain why that is and why they can be viewed as their own separate group, so I’ll put it in the next Meta and expand on how they relate to the existential parts of Bnha.

Also same for the villains/heroes and finally getting to the Quirk Singularity Theory.

canon dabi is actually so much more unhinged (and more complex tbh) than fanon dabi. as someone who loves unhinged characters this is a positive for me. i've actually enjoyed his fanon portrayal a lot over the years and had trouble adjusting at first when more got revealed about him but now i appreciate both the canon and fanon versions. the way large parts of fandom react to his canon characterization just goes to show that they really cannot handle more than one type of abuse narrative or one type of abuse survivor. Some of the commentary is honestly offensive. Like there's no problem with still enjoying fanon dabi imo as long as you're not massively fucking disrespectful to his canon version (and the people who can relate to him). anyway i can always trust your blog to have the good takes

I genuinely feel canon dabi is more unhinged. Like he's more complex and interesting. But yeah this asks is perfect:

the way large parts of fandom react to his canon characterization just goes to show that they really cannot handle more than one type of abuse narrative or one type of abuse survivor.

This might be the biggest issue here. The story is very much about explaining there's no perfect victims. Our like one "perfect" victim is Eri, but other than that, Horikoshi makes sure to explain that this idea of victim as a virtue is both dehumanizing and harmful in letting people actually get out of victimhood. Because there's an instinct to make people who get harmed seem like they should be saints, and many worldwide religions and culture see suffering as virtue.

You see this in the manga and very much in fandom. It's why anyone saying Rei was culpable until she had to speak HERSELF in the manga, was silenced or told to stop any Endeavor apologia. You see this in the completely lack of nuance when it comes to Twice and Hawks - the unhinged Hawks fans will completely woobify and strip Keigo of agency and accountability, blaming Twice and saying he "needed" to die (which Horikoshi has had to a number of times say no to) but on the other hand you have hardcore villain stans who will completely play stupid when it comes to contemplate the enormity of the institutionalization and grooming Keigo has been subject to as a child born to fugitives, essential homeless, and then as a ward of the state/bought child soldier. Or ask people about Tomura. There's no nuance, there's no desire to understand because even the idea of understanding, not excusing, but understanding is seen as apologetics or "supporting the other side". It fascinates me how much this is clear in both manga and the real world. Some of the biggest lessons in BNHA are clearly missed by its own fandom, and there's a lot of irony in that.

A/N: Okay so, I got a bunch of great ideas that I was going to merge with the request I received from the prompt lists, but I wanted to make them longer than 500+ words. So the prompts are still open, and I have around 3/4 and for my own fics that I recently thought of the list is about 20+ now, a big mix of characters, ones that I haven't done yet like Denki, and Aizawa... I also started an Erwin fic today and it's a spicy one, the first of its kind.

On a side note, This fic I had released a snippet before but I am going to retire this fic, I don't really know where to go with it, as I had written like 2000 words, and I feel like it would be a waste not to release what I have as it kinda has an ending to it.

Summary: Bakugou didn't deserve to be where he was, he didn't deserve his number 1 spot as a pro-hero, he ruined your life and in turn, you will ruin his by taking everything he wanted in his life, a family, a happy omega and a successful rut.

Fury, fury was all you could feel as you used your quirk to save not only yourself, your family but the civilians around you. The shining stars of UA had taken to charts as soon as they graduated, most of your friends were already in the top 10 and you couldn’t be prouder to have trained with them until now. 

Now you were angry, the villains had attacked and the heroes rushed straight into attack, ignoring the building crumbling around them. Typical. You stalked towards the graduates, shoving reporters out of the way, trying to get to them. You could see his blonde hair already and you knew deep down that today would be the day you might possibly kill someone. 

“BAKUGOU KATSUKI” You screamed as you got closer, shoving your hand forward and throwing an air current towards him. Bakugou dodge it just in time and all reporters around him stopped. His eyes met yours and you stood strong staring back at him. 

“Well, well, well, look who appears once again, tck” 

“I would happily never look at your face again Bakugou but somebody had their eye on the fucking top again and neglected to look around at what was happening.” you step closer to him, not backing down. You could feel your quirk under your skin begging to be released. 

“You're just jealous y/n, some wanna be hero drop out just tryna get their 5 minutes of fame.” Bakugou stood forward. 

“As if I would be jealous of the mighty dynamite, who would let civilians die around him.”

“Watch how you speak to me, omega, you have no right.” 

“oh i have every right, as you almost got me and my family killed.” you stepped towards him again, the air around your hands starting to solidify. You could hear little pops coming from Bakugou’s hands. 

“I might be a drop out of UA, an omega but I'll always have one thing you will never have Bakugou.”

“Tck, as if i need to hear this, you're dead to me y/n, live with that.” Bakguou said and stepped away from you. 

“Don't you dare turn your back on me.” You shout and throw your quirk towards him, throwing him forward from the force. 

“Don't make me put you in your place omega.” Bakugou got off the floor, and stalked towards you, releasing his pheromones  in an attempt to break you into submission.

“How dare you use your pheromones against me” You scream, throwing yourself at him, clawing at him. 

“I MAY BE AN OMEGA, BUT I’LL STILL KICK YOUR ASS” You added, Bakugou and you fought without quirks until you could feel yourself being dragged from him by a blur of red. You didn’t even have to look at the person to know who it was. 

“Kirishima let me go, LET ME GO” You shout, trying to wriggle your way out of his arms. 

“Calm down y/n, please this isn't the time or place for this.” He places you away from Bakugou and makes you look in his eyes. You nod and look around him, seeing all of your friends from UA, standing around. 

“What's going on y/n, please tell us.” Mina says as she takes a step forward. You look at Bakugou and see Deku trying to calm him down. 

“Well, it's a funny story actually, here i was just enjoying my day when a villain attacked the street, a lovely hero flew overhead attacking this villains and ignore the space they were in, now this hero had an explosion quirk and next thing you know the building I was under exploded and I had to activate my quirk, saving the civilians.” you say calmly and gesture to the area you came from. All heads turned to look, your quirk of air manipulation - force fields were currently holding massive boulders of concrete in the air and other heroes were pulling civilians from the broken building. 

“Holy shit y/n, are you still holding that up? Always knew you were a badass” Denki asks looking at you. 

“Yes Denki, I am, I had to train my hardest to keep up with you all this time” you smile at him.

“Too bad, you were good enough to stick around, tck” Bakugou says under his breath.

“Kacchen, that is so uncalled for.” Deku says, hitting him in the arm.

“You wanna say that louder” You take a step away from Kirishima and try to square up to Bakugou. 

“Mom, can I come out of the bubble now?” a little voice could be heard. You instantly switch to parent mode and turn to look at your son. 

“Of course, buddy I was just making sure it was safe, hence why I'm talking to these lovely heroes” you flick your hand and the protective bubble around your son disappears and he runs towards you. You pick him up, throw him in the air and catch him, causing him to giggle. 

“Hold on a minute, there's a little y/n, walking around and I didn’t know” Kirishima asks grinning at the child in your arms. 

“Hey baby look around you, look who's here” you whisper to your son, pointing around you. Your son gasps and points to each of the heroes. 

“Red Rite…..pinky……dekuuuu…..chargy…BOOMBOOM….and SHOTOOOOOO” Your son wriggles out of your arms and runs towards Shoto, who instantly bends down to pick him up. 

“Hey little man, you being good for mommy.” He asks, putting his full attention to your son. You smile looking at the two interacting. 

“WAIT, YOU AND ICYHOT” Bakugou shouts, making his way towards you. 

“IS THAT WHY YOU LEFT, YOU HAD A KID WITH ICYHOT, YOU CHEATED ON ME WITH HIM” He grabs your arms, forcing you to look at him.” 

“Hey Shoto, can you take Akaashi for me for the moment?” you turn your head to look at Shoto who had your son turned away from you with Kirishima distracting him. 

“Of course y/n” 

As Shoto left with your son you turned to look at Bakugou once more. You took a breath and stared into his eyes. 

“No Bakugou, I didn't not have a son with Shoto, if you stopped for a moment and actually looked at the kid you would notice some similarities with someone else present. Or if you used your head for a moment you would observe things around you.” you say calming, shoving his arms off you. 

“What are you talking about?” he asks, looking at you. Not once breaking eye contact. 

“Okay, let's try this again shall we, what age does my son look?” you ask him.

“I don't know, 6 maybe.”

“You haven't seen me in 4 years, how could he be 6?, no hes 3.” Bakugou rolled his eyes. 

“We were meant to go to the dance, but you never showed up and you disappeared y/n, I can't remember what happened the last i saw you.” he said, taking a step back. 

“Okay, next question, what happened when you last saw me?”

“Well, why don't I tell the brilliant Bakugou, you came to me before the dance but not as my caring boyfriend, the love of my life no? What I got when I opened my door was a disgusting alpha full of rut pheromones, and used them against me, forcing me into heat, marking me and making me pregnant.”

“What” was all Bakugou could say and he tried to wrap his head around this new information. 

“Look at him Katsuki, look at my son. Blonde hair and red eyes, sound familiar to you” you shout, tears leaving your eyes. Tears start to fill him also. 

“Kacchan, please say you didn't,” Deku says quietly behind. 

“He did Izuku, he did and left straight afterwards, when I confronted him later that night, he called me liar and claimed i cheated on him, stupid alpha didnt even know his own scent. Shortly afterwards I dropped out and Shoto saw me one day pregnant and has been taking care of us all this time. So although I can never have another alpha in my life, their is a plus, I know you can never have an omega in your life or have a successful rut ever again,” You stand tall as you look at Bakugou who was trying to rack his mind with the truth you had told him. 

In a flash, Bakugou launched for you, grabbing you by the neck. Shoving his mouth onto his mark and bit down. You screamed out, trying to break away. Deku tried his hardest to pull him off you. Bakugou pumped out pheromones to calm you down or throw you into heat you weren't sure. You screamed out again as he bit harder, and a blur of red tackled you both to the ground. Kirishima pulled Bakugou off you, you could hear your son screaming in the background scared that his mother was hurted but you could also hear Shoto calming him down. 

“What the hell Bakugou?” Kirishima shouted as he moved to look at your neck. Blood pooled around your collarbone as you tried to hold the bite tight. 

“I HAD TO, I HAD TO MAKE SURE” He barked as he stood up again, looking at you with teary eyes. 

“My words weren't enough?” You asked as Kirishima pulled you to your feet. 

“Of course they are, I would never doubt you, I was a stupid kid back then so ashamed of what i done I-” Bakugou paused and looked around at all his friends, “..y-You could’ve been a shifter, you could’ve been a phony. No one here can smell you bar me, I had to know y/n it was you,” Bakugou brings his hands to his face and cries. Your friends stand around and watch him, no words are exchanged. 

Paparazzi and news reporters had been cleared out from the area by your friends, giving you all some privacy. As Bakugou cried, you could feel your heart breaking. Yes you were mad and hurt by what had happened but Akaashi was the best thing that ever happened in your life. Yes you would’ve loved to have been a hero but being Akasshi’s mother was a dream come true. Yes there was still time to become a hero as you still had your hero license but right now your life was Akaashi. Tears formed in your eyes and you slowly stepped towards Bakugou. You reached for his arm to try and soothe him but he turned his body from yours. You reach forward again gripping his face and making him look at you. 

“Even though you ruined my life for a time, I have to thank you” you stare into his eyes. He stares right back at you. 

“You gave me two things that day, the most amazing child I will ever have and a glimpse of what my life would’ve been like shackled to your side and you know what I saw?” you ask him, not letting him look away from you. 

“I saw a shitty excuse of an Alpha who has no right to be where he is today” You push his face away from yours and take a deep breath before turning your full attention to your son who was happily giggling in Shoto’s arms. You could hear Deku trying to comfort Bakugou  but he simply shoves him off. 

“Y/n PLEASE, let me know my son, let me make it up to you, let me explain everything” Bakugou runs to you and holds your arm, you refuse to turn and look at him. 

“He is not your son, he will never be your son, you gave up that right all those years ago when you turned on me. Forget about him, he’ll never be yours” You reef your arm out of his hold and make your way towards Shoto and Akashi.  

Once you reach them, Akashi holds out his arms for you to pick him up from Shoto’s arms. “Sho-to prowmised ic- crem” you son says to you. You giggle and reply, “Oh did he now, hmmm-” you look at Shoto who is pretending to look into the sky. “-well you have been a good boy today so okay, just this once” You kiss your son on the head and begin to walk away. 

“Hey I’ve been a good boy too, can I get ice-cream” Denki asks as you begin to walk away, Mina wacks him on the arm and everyone begins to laugh and filter off except Bakugou, he can't move. His eyes are locked on you and his son, walking happily with Shoto. Fuming is brimming and taking over his entire soul. How can this be happening, his whole life and future is walking away from him. The future he gave up, the one he always wanted with you, the one he messed up all because he was a jealous kid who expected greatness without earning it first. There was one thing on Bakugou’s mind, he will get his family, he will get you back, and the truth he’s been hiding from since that night will be revealed. Damn his career, his friend's opinion, there's only one thing now he wants most in his life. That is to have you and Akaashi safe in his arms.

Thank you for giving me a chance to talk about BNHA and my apologies if I’ve erased the link from your post...

...but to me it wouldn’t feel fair to discuss another person’s post on my blog, if it’s not from me directly reblogging said post and therefore engaging into discussion with the original owner who can therefore see the reblog and decide to answer back.

I also can’t offer opinions on why a person says something. The best way to know why they do so is to ask them.

I can however offer info and opinions on the over mentioned canon. As usual, for the part regarding the opinions, people’s thoughts might differ from mine. I’m not Horikoshi nor Japanese and I don’t pretend to know ‘the truth’. Also, aspects of Japanese culture will be mentioned because relevant to the discussion. Again, I do document myself about them but as I’m not Japanese I might fail to understand something important. If this will be the case, I apologize.

Said all this, let’s start.

Was Rei a minor when she was married?

As far as I know we don’t know Rei’s age so we can’t answer this one. Back when BNHA started women could, however, marry at 16 if the family gave permission (recently the law had been changed so she would need to be 18) and age of majority in Japan was 20 (again the law has changed and now it’s 18).

Enji is 20/21 when he gets married. Considering Horikoshi’s liking for married couples to be 4 years apart it’s possible she was 16/17 and, for her to marry at that age back then, was perfectly legal EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS A MINOR by Japan’s law.

Currently Japanese law doesn’t allow a minor to marry so, if BNHA has started now, we wouldn’t have this discussion… unless one were to come from a country were age of majority is, let’s say, 25, and were to try to force its country’s view on what constitute age of majority on a Japanese character.

Still, even if it’s possible Rei married as a minor… the truth is we don’t know. For all we know she could be the one 4 years older than Enji… or she could have his same age. Until Horikoshi releases her profile with her age we’ll never know.

I like to headcanon her as 4 years younger than Enji because it adds to the drama and fits with what looked like her social role in the family (sacrifice herself to either continue the Himura family or to economically save it) so I don’t think she would have waited a lot before getting married.

It’s worth to remember in Japan, women had traditionally been expected to marry at a young age, and those who were unmarried after the age of 25 were metaphorically referred to as "(unsold) Christmas cakes" (クリスマスケーキ) in reference to items which are still unsold after the 25th.

So really, I don’t expect Rei to be older than Enji.

On the other side, since Rei’s age at the time of her marriage has zero relevance in the story, in the beginning Horikoshi might have planned to have her marry at 16/17 but, if he’ll ever release Rei’s profile he might retcon it to 18 so as to abide to the actual Japanese law and save himself from discussions and complains.

We’ll see if we’ll ever get Rei’s profile.

Should Touya’s siblings be blamed for not adequately supporting Touya?

So let’s start with Touya’s siblings’ ages as it’s often a point that gets discussed.

Fuyumi is born 11 months after Touya, which makes her basically almost a year younger.

Natsuo is born 4 years and 6 months after Touya.

Shouto is born 7 days before Touya will turn 8.

Since Touya ‘dies’ in winter when he’s about to turn 14, Fuyumi has just turned 13, Natsuo is 8, Shouto is about to turn 6. They’re clearly all very young and, in addition to this, Shouto is forbidden from interacting with them.

Would I hold accountable children so young for failing to support their sibling?

Nope, in my culture a minor isn’t expected to do such job, that’s what we consider a parent’s job. A child will be educated into the idea he has to try to support his siblings (when he’ll be older) by teaching him or her to be nice and helpful to his siblings, and he might be scolded if he doesn’t but, if something were to go wrong with a sibling, not only we wouldn’t hold the kid to be accountable for failing to support their sibling but we don’t even think it would make that big of a difference the fact he failed to do so. The entirety of the responsibility falls on the parents, the siblings can help or not but they won’t be held accountable.

Also, for me it's not just culture, what I studied about psychology and children's development influences me into thinking that kids shouldn’t be held accountable.

Would I expect children to feel guilty for failing to support their siblings, regardless of me not blaming them?

It’s something they might feel, especially if they loved their brother and believed they could make a difference (it doesn’t matter if this was true or not). Humans can feel guilty they couldn’t help someone they love even if it wasn’t their place to help that person and they truly couldn’t help.

Is my view of siblings’ dynamics universal (as in shared by everyone across the planet)? Does it applies to the story?

Skipping that there’s no such a thing as an universal view, my view is also clearly influenced by my culture. I was taught not to hold children accountable for such things. I’m not Japanese though, and Japan has some very different views on family dynamics from my home country.

So next I’ll toss in some Japanese cultural expectations for siblings.

In Japan siblings are expected to have a strong sense of loyalty and duty towards each other and towards their parents. Respect for elders and hierarchy within the family are also important aspects of Japanese family dynamics. Traditionally, the eldest child in a family holds a special position and is often expected to take on a leadership role within the family. Younger siblings are expected to show deference and respect towards their older siblings. Sibling relationships are often characterized by a sense of closeness and loyalty. Siblings are expected to support and help each other, especially in times of need. It is common for siblings to maintain strong bonds throughout their lives and to provide emotional and practical support for each other.

Of course, in real life, things vary from family to family, but this is a general outline of the common societal expectations pushed on siblings.

Also, in Japan, if one of the family members commits a crime, all the family will be held accountable, regardless of the age of the family members and their possibility to stop that person from committing a crime.

How all this applies to the story?

You might remember at first Rei was okay with having more children because ‘they would support each other’. It was more than just a passing thought or wishful thinking.

However Fuyumi and Natsuo couldn’t support Touya, nor could Shouto who wasn’t even allowed to spend time with him.

The story makes clear that getting support or not can do a lot of difference.

While the story pins most of the blame on Enji and part of the blame on Rei, it still holds accountable all the siblings (except for maybe Shouto) as well for their failure to support their sibling when they were supposed to.

That’s also due to how while in the west we tend to see someone to blame if he intentionally did something wrong, in many Japanese stories someone is held accountable for merely triggering without even knowing or meaning to, something wrong.

There’s more of a cause-effect mentality that comes to play in Japanese stories while in western stories we tend to focus more on intentions.

In Japanese stories you can find often people being held accountable for things that in my culture would be completely excusable or not even considered a possible source of blame, merely because said things triggered something bad.

So should people hold Touya’s siblings accountable?

As I said before I do not hold them accountable. They were too young in a situation too complex and too heavy for such young kids and, anyway, the ones who should be hold accountable for kids for me are the parents, not the siblings.

I however think the story does hold them accountable, possibly even more than it would in real life because, in addition to the cultural context, the story is also meant to teach people the importance of supporting loved ones, so it’s going to hammer on how Touya’s siblings should have supported him and how this would have made a difference and how their failure to do so is to blame.

Each reader is free to come to the conclusion he prefers in this regard because I really don’t know the culture of each reader and what it teaches them.

Also a story is often a medium to teach something and not a perfect mirror of real life and this story is aimed at teens so it’s going to push an abnormal amount of responsibility in young generations as they’re the main focus. In fact comparatively there’s more teenagers fighting All for One than adult Heroes and everyone relied on Midoriya, a teen, way too much, but this is done merely because the story is aimed at young audience and so it makes them the main characters and heroes.

Horikoshi, by sending so many teens on the battleground, likely isn’t trying to say Japan should start using child soldiers, it’s just making characters who’re of the same age of his intended audience be the heroes for the sake of entertaining said young audience.

In the same way, by pointing out how Touya’s siblings should have supported him, it’s possible he’s not telling the readers children should be held accountable for failing to support their brother but that it’s important for them to try to support their siblings because otherwise consequences might be bad and they might suffer them.

It’s less accusatory toward Touya’s siblings and more message oriented… or at least that’s how I interpret it.

Everyone can think differently.

As said before I’m not Japanese and I’m clearly not Horikoshi so I can’t really say what he’s thinking, just trying to guess it.

What about extenuating circumstances that stopped his family members from supporting Touya? Is one of them more excusable than the others?

So… each one of Touya’s family members had reasons to fail to support Touya.

If you ask me, the more powerless a character was to support him, the more said character is excusable, so of course, if I were to rate them, we would go from the most excusable of all, Shouto (too young, completely powerless, not allowed to interact with him, completely unable to understand what went with him), to Natsuo (very young, not fully able to understand his problems, completely unable to help him in certain important matters), to Fuyumi (young, technically barely able to understand his problems, unable to help him in certain important matters), to Rei (likely raised to sacrifice for the family and obey to the Himura family head first, to her husband after, extremely busy taking care of 4 children of different ages, 3 of them all younger than Touya, one of whom was forced to undergo through abusive training, eventually also so psychologically unwell to the point she had a paranoid episode, exchanged Shouto for Enji and attacked him in misplaced self defense before ending up hospitalized), to the one I view more culpable, Enji (blinded by his negative sides to the point of obsession, probably psychologically damaged, raised in a culture that enabled him to do many things that I do believe are wrong, his culture selling them as okay instead).

Enji and Rei also are less excusable than the kids as they’re Touya’s parents and therefore I view taking care of Touya as THEIR JOB, my country’s law establishing also they’ve to do it according to certain standards, while I can’t say the same Fuyumi, Natsuo and Shouto.

Of course mine is a subjective rating and people can disagree with it for the more assorted reasons… after all Enji and Rei fail to follow the acceptable standards for parenting in my country but Japanese law and manga tropes disagrees with my country’s law on such standards so who am I to judge?

Something else I find of relevance is I don’t think the story is trying hard to make a rating of who’s more culpable and who’s less culpable because for assorted reasons they all failed and so they all had to pay consequences and that’s why the story has all the Todorokis go stop Touya and get burned in attempting to do so.

As I said many Japanese stories have a cause-effect kind of narrative (you do something, this something ends up hurting someone, you pay consequences for it) more than a ‘evil person gets punished’ narrative.

It’s karma (the sum of a person's actions, good and bad, which leads to future consequences), it’s hitsuzen (必然 “the inevitable consequences of something”), more than some god deciding you need to be punished for your evil deeds.

At least to me it feels like this is the point the story is making. Again, I’m not Japanese, I might be wrong.

There are so many cultural things tied in this story that it’s very easy to misunderstand something as many things that for me are normal, aren’t normal in Japan and vice versa. So yeah, my understanding might be flawed.

Said all this I apologize if this wasn’t the kind of reply you were hoping for.

I do enjoy talking about BNHA a lot and I’m grateful to you for offering me the chance to talk about it… but if you want to know why someone in the net said something about it, the best source to whom to ask that information is the person making the post.

I can only offer my opinion on the topics you mentioned and my opinion on them is as good as the one of the next guy. I’m not Horikoshi, I sadly don’t know ‘the truth’.

Summary: Bakugou managed to avoid the attack made by Jinx, but will he be able to change her heart?

★☽A/N: WE DOING IT AGAIN!! I honestly love making this, I haven't had this much fun writing something in a long time!! I'm actually considering making a series (With my own BNHA oc) and will be posting it on Wattpad and maybe Tumblr! Enough of this, let's get into it! ENJOY!!!!

Contents: Angst - a few breakdowns - death(?)

Y/N’s quirk: Arcanna (Allows the user to create crystal-like balls that can be used to boost the user’s stats, power up weapons (Like guns), and can be used as explosives when crushed.)

Wait.. How? Bakugou was still alive..

Bakugou managed to dodge the shot but caused himself to fall down on his side, still tied onto the chair. “Y/N, YOU REALLY NEED HELP!” Bakugou angrily said. “WHY CAN’T YOU JUST– DIE?!” Y/N cried, her face was twisted with anger and sadness. She has been tormented by the memories, almost becoming deaf, almost dying from drowning and from his Quirk, and she hated it. Her breakdown was worse this time. She was yelling, trashing her surroundings while Bakugou tried his best to get out of his restraints. “Why can’t you leave me alone? I hate you! Stop! Shut up!!” She said to herself, her hands gripping her hair hard.

Bakugou managed to get out of the restraints and quickly walked towards Y/N. “Y/N, calm down.” He said in a stern voice, almost demanding. Y/N just looked at him with her E/C eyes that glowed a pink glow. “Leave me ALONE!” She screamed, pushing him away.

“Y/N, listen to me. I know I haven’t been the nicest to you in the past but what I know, I can change. Someone showed me that I could change to be a better person, a better hero. I hate that I couldn’t mend things with you but this is my chance to mend things with you if you let me help you. You can become the hero you always dreamed of with Deku.” Bakugou softly said, extending both his hands out as he walked slowly towards Jinx who was looking at him with widened eyes, her hands fidgeting.

“I don’t need your pity.” She spat with venom. “I’m not pitying you, I’m trying to help you.” Bakugou replied, getting close to her by the second. “I don’t need anyone’s help. I’m hopeless! I’m a freak case! What makes you think you could fix me?!” Jinx asked, her body was in an unstable, angered, and vulnerable state. She was shaking as she heard the voices messing with her head.

By now, Bakugou was standing close to her, looking straight at her but she was standing on her left side, not noticing Bakugou as she held her head in a tight grip. Bakugou felt guilty, how is that possible? He feels no quilty over bullying Deku but he felt the guilt twist his guts when it came to remembering his torment on Jinx. If he wanted to be a hero, he needed to make some changes. His hands reach towards Jinx’s trying to get her attention. But as his hands reached closer, she turned her head to look at him with frightened eyes as she looked at his hands that were reaching for hers.

She couldn’t help but sob more as she pounced on him, crying hysterically. Bakugou was stunned but soon hugged her back, combing her hair to soothe her. “I don’t think I can fix you.. But I can help you.” Was all Katsuki said.

She lifted her head to look him in the eyes. “Do..Do you think I can be a.. Hero too..?” She asked in soft hiccups. Katsuki had a small smile on and nodded, “Yes.” He answered.

Jinx couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief? Of what? Oh… Relieved that she could change paths, that she could follow her dreams instead of following her nightmares. Relieved that she could make new friends, friends with the same goal.

That all faded away when she saw someone behind Katsuki. Toga, and she looked furious. Furious that one of her close friends in the League was hugging a hero course student, the League’s target no less! She grabbed her knife and swung it towards Bakugou’s back. Jinx’s eyes widened and quickly hugged Katsuki tight which shocked him. What shocked him more was when she quickly turned around, swapping their places when she was stabbed by the thrown knife, its very tip grazing her heart.

“Y/N!” He called out. He was furious, blasting Toga away from them. Katsuki didn’t pull the knife out since it was impaled in her and would only cause her to bleed out if he were to take it out. “Why the fuck would you do that?!” He angrily asked. Y/N just smiled. “A hero would do that… Right?” She asked with a smile. Katsuki couldn’t stop the water from pouring out of his eyes. “...Right.” He grinned.

“Shit- I’m always a jinx so I guess I deserve this fate.” She chuckled. Katsuki couldn’t help but tear up a bit. He quickly grabbed her to try to pick her up to bring her to the hospital– But she stopped him. “You won’t be fast enough.” She protested. “I will be fast enough!” Bakugou protested back, picking her up and ran as fast as he could to bring her to the hospital.

Just as they were a mile away from the hospital, someone yelled from a distance. “IT’S NOT OVER YET!” Bakugou didn’t look but he knew it was a member from the LOV. Shigaraki was furious that he lost his little play toy. Using two of his fingers, he grabbed a crystal that was long ago made by Y/N. He smashed it to the ground, inches away from Y/N and Katsuki.

Bakugou managed to blast away before it exploded, creating a hole in the city’s ground but only caused the knife to slip even deeper by the impact. “You’ll make it.” He promised to the girl who had fallen unconscious, running as fast as he could.

The hospital’s walls were white and clean, the air was fresh, and patients and medical staff crowded the halls and rooms.

In one of the rooms, Katsuki Bakugou held the hands of Y/N L/N who lay unconscious on a hospital bed. He hoped for the best for her.

Slowly, she opened her eyes to the bright light of the hospital room, taking quick glances around the room before her eyes landed on Katsuki’s figure. He felt eyes on him and looked up to see her looking at him. He couldn’t help but show a small smile before hugging her softly.

Jinx was no more… It was just.. Y/N. A soon to be hero.

Genetics, A Primer

(Because I Can’t Just Assume You All Know This Sh!t)

I’m going to kick things off on my new BNHA blog with a short series exploring Quirk science, for several reasons:

A) Quirks are the defining element of this franchise;

B) my brain arbitrarily decided to hyperfixate on Quirk science while I was world-building for the fic that I’m working on in my creative writing class;

C) canon Quirk science is, in my humble opinion, a travesty; and

D) since I’m doing all this research and overthinking anyway, I might as well inflict it on the unsuspecting public share it.

Unfortunately, as I was writing what I wanted to be the first post in this series, it quickly became apparent that I was assuming my readers would have a basic understanding of genetics and inheritance, which might not be true. $@&#!!! So here I am, backing up the info dump truck.

Honestly, I’m not expecting a lot of traction on this post, but whatever. I thought I should be considerate and make this information readily accessible for people who might need to brush up on the basics (or learn them in the first place) before jumping into the actual Quirk science with me. Whether I got any personal benefit out of writing this is entirely beside the point. -coughs- It’s not like high school biology is several decades in my past or anything.

Annnnnywaaaaaay, here we go! A crash course in beginner-level genetics and inheritance.

All living things, or organisms, have observable characteristics (also called traits).

Collectively, all of the traits that make up a specific organism—be it Kohei Horikoshi, or your favourite childhood pet, or that scraggly-looking tree at the end of your street, etc—belong to that organism’s phenotype. And within its phenotype, that organism has a variety of both monomorphic (one form) and polymorphic (multiple form) traits.

In the case of humans, our baseline is to have a torso with one head on top, two arms on the sides, and two legs on the bottom. There are no standard variations, for example, where humans have two heads, or where the legs present on the sides of the torso instead of the bottom. We all have skin, not scales or bark. We grow hair, not feathers or fur. We all have a spinal column, and a brain, and one heart. (Did you know some animals have more than one heart? I sure didn’t until today.) Anyway, these are all examples of monomorphic traits.

Where things get really interesting are the polymorphic traits. Yes, we all have skin, but it comes in a wide range of colours. (And wow, the problems that has caused over the centuries. Mind-boggling! It’s just melanin, folks!) We all grow hair, but it can be straight, or wavy, or curly; its texture can be fine, or medium, or coarse; it comes in a full spectrum of ‘natural’ colours; it covers varying amounts of our bodies; and so on. We all have a spinal column, but the coccyx (tailbone) portion may be fused into two to five segments. We all have a brain, but we might be right-handed or left-handed or mixed-handed or even ambidextrous. We all have one heart, but only one of many different blood types.

The specific versions of polymorphic traits displayed (expressed) by a particular organism depends primarily on their own unique biological blueprint, or genotype.

A human genotype is made up of an estimated 21,000 genes, which are the basic units of heredity: the biological inheritance of traits from parents to their offspring. Genes consist of strands of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), which we are absolutely not going to go into the nitty-gritty details of here, because that’s not important for this TedTalk. The important thing is that the DNA in an organism’s genotype biologically encodes all of the information needed for an itty-bitty one cell fertilized egg (or egg equivalent) to become a fully-grown, functional member of that particular species.

Chromosomes are long DNA molecules, each containing hundreds to thousands of genes. This means each chromosome can store part, or all, of an organism’s genetic blueprint.

In humans, there are 23 pairs of chromosomes in every single normal cell—can you even imagine how small that would all have to be to fit?!??—for a total of 46 chromosomes. One half of each pair is inherited from the person’s mother and the other half from the person’s father. This means people inherit two copies of every single gene in their genotype, but they might get different versions of any gene which encodes for a polymorphic trait. These different versions are called alleles.

Now, what happens when a person inherits two different alleles for the same polymorphic trait? Can our hapless sample person actually have both straight and curly hair at the same time?!?? Tch! Of course not. (At least, not without access to hair-styling equipment, but that’s not relevant to the genetics here.) Anyway, I don’t know about you, but my high school tackled the ‘different alleles’ question using the example of eye colour—which, incidentally, is actually a terrible choice for teaching this concept, but it seems to be one of the ‘industry standards’, per se, and who am I to question decades of teaching expertise???—so, onwards!

With polymorphic traits, one allele is typically more dominant than the other and is the version of the trait that ends up being expressed in the organism’s phenotype. The allele that gets ‘overridden’ (or, more accurately, ‘masked’) is called the recessive trait.

Back to our example of human eye colour, brown is the dominant allele (indicated with an uppercase letter) and blue is the recessive allele (indicated with a lowercase letter), and they combine like this:

b - blue B - Brown bB - Brown

b - blue b - blue bb - blue

As you can see, the child will only express the recessive variant of the trait (blue eyes) if they inherit the recessive allele from both parents. Any other combination results in the dominant trait being expressed.

Pretty straightforward, right? So simple. Easy peasy. Go ahead and just… ignore… any obvious, glaring issues that might be coming to mind when looking at this examp—

One last thing that is incredibly important, given that we’re talking about genetics and inheritance within the context of BNHA: genes are not always copied correctly when cells are dividing and combining and multiplying. Genes can also get damaged in various ways. These errors are random mutations and may become new alleles, which might be dominant or recessive, and can be passed down to future offspring.

These mutations can result in genetic disorders, where physiological processes ‘break’ (like hemophilia and diabetes) or where people are born with unusual physical characteristics (like extra toes or a cleft palate). Mutations are not always bad, though; in fact, mutations resulting in new traits and trait variations are a key feature in the process of evolution. If a new mutation provides an advantage to the biological success of an organism, that mutation is more likely to be passed down to subsequent generations and may eventually become a standard variant in the genome (the complete set of all possible genes) for that species.

Anyway, I think that about covers it for the important basics of genetics and inheritance before I dive into Quirk science in my next post. I hope it was helpful!

hello im a new fan of touya.. maybe not yet a bnha fan but definitelly touya. i have been avoiding bnha for the longest time and now i feel like i've opened up a treasure chest filled with diamond when i found touya.. i instanly fell in love with him. with tears filled my eyes and sobbing really really hard cause unfortunately i fell in love with him right after watching an edit of him fighting with his family.. watching him dying and in the most vulnerable states. but i guess its better late than never. I love talking about my beloved tragic beautiful Dabi... and have been thinking about him so much since the recent episodes. He's so painfully soft behind the hurt and revenge...

Congrats on coming over to the Touya side! Absolutely better late than never and there is still plenty of Touya left to love. The Todorokis have the most interesting plot line in bnha in my opinion. I really love this story in spite of it's end, so I hope you find time to consume it fully. Since you're not a bnha fan yet I assume you haven't consumed the anime or manga content either.. but if I can say, he does not die in battle. And in my opinion, it's clear he lives on even post-war even if I wished to have seen a more concrete happiness for him! 😭

The best way to enjoy your favorite character is always to consume all the content for them lol. If I may, might I introduce you to the other half of my love that will always go hand in hand with Touya for me... Takami Keigo/Hawks? 👀 They are basically two sides of the same coin.. constantly in parallel and Hawks is yet another tragic beautiful character. I particularly enjoy his interactions with Dabi in canon, but the fandom world for them together is endless and I could talk forever and absolutely rec some amazing fics if you decide that is also your cup of tea. 🤣

Oh plushie Dabi's yes! I want them all as well but have found them harder to come by than plushie Hawks so I am also still looking for him. (he is also sometimes quite deformed 😭 so it's hard to find good ones!) 🥲 But 'Banpresto' has released a few plushies of him in various sizes from mini keychain types to a medium more firm size and it depends which but some you can find online or others you'll have to import from Japan. I've used 'AitaiKuji' for a good place to browse in the past. There's also a 'Mochibi Dabi' which is more like a tsum tsum shape (relatively easy & affordable to buy). There's also some round ball plushies of him like from Fuwakororin and I've seen some custom fanmade kitty versions of him 🥺 like the one from AgiJagi. Beyond that he has a selection of figures, where his face looks better than others 🤣 so choose wisely (his nendo is super cute tho!). There's also been some collectible very expensive custom ones of him like the one from 'weareanimecollectors'. Anyways, happy merch collecting, I've only had the luxury to start doing more of this in the past few years so I'm no expert! But I can take some pics of the ones I have if you want to see mines. 😉

My hobbies:

reading!! I love to read, and I can often be found in my cozy nest of blankets and stuffies on my bed, reading or curled up on the ground with some blankets in a corner of a room just enjoying a book.

Drawing is another hobbie of mine! I draw all the time when I am big or If I am little and I love trying new and fun types of art and love to be as creative as possible! I also draw when I am feeling sad or depressed as it helps me put things down in a drawing if I can't find the right words or I am to upset to speak and also helps me vent too. I also Journal.

Watching cartoons and anime is also something I do often too. My favorite cartoons to watch when little are wild kratts,mlp,bluey,pokemon,Danny Phantom,winx,carebears, the cuphead show,httyd, mighty magiswords and a bunch of others but those are my favorite!

As for anime I love to watch one piece,naruto,demon slayer,bleach,heaven's official blessing,bnha,black butler,blue exorcist,fairy tail,soul eater,assassination classroom,kuroko no basket and a bunch more but then I would be putting a lot of anime!

My age regression:

For my age regression I do regress from my past trauma that I experienced when I was younger and couldn't really have the best childhood. And I do sometimes regress non-voluntary but that Is when I am overwhelmed or verrrrry stressed.

My little ages are 1-6 and but I am usually on the younger side. So I usually enjoy watching cartoons, art and crafts!,playing with stuffies and toys,fun games and playing on my switch.

My favorite games on my switch are animal crossing,slime rancher,minecraft and sky: children of light! I have other ones I really like too and if curious you can ask.

Things that make me feel small! : drinking from sippy cups and bottles and using my paci! Cuddling my stuffies and using my agere dishes and utensils.

Favorite food and drink: hot chocolate,apple juice and angel milk are my favorite drinks and Mac & cheese with chicken nuggets or Mashed potatoes with corn and hot dogs are my favorite meals! Also love snacks! :3

I am always happy to be friends with other littles but I am kinda shy but I would love to talk of anyone wanted 😊

Hi, I love your blog and I TOTALLY agree with you. I think bnha works well in theory but the author just can’t make anything complex, it’s always so one-sided and boring. Izuku as a mc has potential, but he’s shafted halfway through for the villains and sits around doing nothing, besides giving Naruto speeches from time to time. He doesn’t do anything, it isn’t even him fighting Shigaraki, now All Might is doing it for him. Why is the supposed main character so useless to his overall story? Like, yes, they’re kids, but they’re heroes, why is he not more involved? First arcs author remembered he existed, but recently he’s just been thrown aside. Izuku really should have been a side character, the author seems to barely remember he exists most of the time, he lets him get his bones broken, but nothing else happens. Now, my biggest conflict with the series is that no one dies. This is a WAR they are fighting, yet no big, major characters besides a few teachers die. Even Bakugou is going to get to come back. Why haven’t the Todorokis died? Plot armor. Why haven’t the main characters’ classmates died, to bring a sense of urgency or terribleness about war to the story? Plot armor. The author is too afraid to do anything too “real”, so he avoids any characters who are mains dying, they get injured and miraculously heal. If Hawks, Uraraka, any of them actually died, it would bring more tragedy and more conflict to the story, like Izuku would have to struggle with losing friends, and feeling powerless. Naruto and One Piece do this in their narrative, people die throughout it regardless of what the protagonist does. The author doesn’t believe in letting characters naturally die, so he creates implausible contrivances so they survive for no reason. Letting Endeavor or Dabi die would have been a great way to show the tragedy of the character and their fate from anger and hatred, except…bam, he’s magically alive but not dead. Lolwut. HK is incapable of even killing off any character or letting anything realistic happen to them, that’s why no one suffers realistic consequences, or actions. It’s a war that affects no one but civilians. All the major heroes are still alive because plot. Izuku is unrealistic because he’s not only never given a chance to grow and fight, he’s never even allowed to suffer death and loss. If All Might dies, at least it will help him grow, but this is a little too late for that. Izuku has been held back this whole entire time, and the rest of his classmates as well…because plot armor is used to ridiculous extremes in this series. Fucking hell. It’s that way for other characters, too, like Togata. He magically has his quirk back because we say so. What.

And you DO bring up a good point. Other than the big fights he partook in (The Yakuza Raid, saving Kota from Muscular, and Stain) What has he truly done in the plot? Because even if he wins, there's always some drawback to it that he might as well lost.

And other than seeing him again after how many chapters have been put out, what presence or impact does he bring other than being the main character to move the plot along?

Izuku has the building blocks for the main character, but he doesn't do anything significant nor is he allowed to have a victory that sticks. So it all undermines his actions and what he contributes to the plot, making him a set piece for other characters to get where they need to go in their arcs at the cost of his in the process.

Now for the second part of your ask. The War arc is where things started to go downhill, and I will die standing on that hill. But as you said before, people die in wars. So why haven't there been any major deaths to really raise the stakes and get through how serious things gotten.

Sure there WAS some pro heroes who met their deaths, but they were off screen and only mentioned through dialogue. The only major loss we had during that was Midnight, but that was ruined by the fact that we barely got to spend any time with her to really get to know her character.

And considering the narrative wants to convince us that she was a good person and establish a connection between her and Mina, when have we seen the two talk or hang out to prove it? Where are the scenes of Midnight being a good teacher and not making lewd comments about them?

Show me Horikoshi! FUCKING SHOW ME!!

He WANTS the illusion of raising the stakes but doesn't want to get rid of anyone cause he feels they might be useful later on, but we hardly got to see any of that being utilized because he's so busy on making Bakugou, Aizawa, and Endeavor look good that the other characters get shelved in the process.
