so I haven’t played genshin in like 30 days + ? I’ve been playing ZZZ + HSR (I quit zzz for now bc I got bored lol) but redownloaded genshin bc I rlly want Varesa 😭 she’s really cute

but omg opening it back up felt SO FREAKUNG NOSTALGIC. Like playing genshin over the summer when we just came back from the pool and we are all in our shorts and screaming bc the boss kept killing our chars and we only had one healer and we had popsicles and we played volleyball all day and finally unlocked all of the map and in 30 minutes my dad would be done grilling the hotdogs and hamburgers and aaaaaaaaaaa

sobbing i wanna go back that was so fun 😭 genshin hit so hard during that time!! Like it was so good and Harpy Hare just came out and I associated that with Genshin for some reason (that one house of the hearth kids animatic prob)

excuse the mega long rant in tags bc i geeked out perhaps a lil too much abt pkmn au but ourghghg.... we do not talk abt how i spent at least an hour writing all this out....

hear me out natlan AQ but capitano has more screentime and we see more of his perspective, mavuika's inner thoughts are cutscenes so players don't lose focus and forget they even saw them, we get to see how iansan/xilonen/kinich got their ancient names and found out they were heroes, mualani gets more mad at mavuika because she cant find kachina and mavuika snaps at her because she's stressed and annoyed and human. and iansan and kinich actually get more screentime OR we actually see them/play as them going through with mavuikas orders (personally I think it wouldve been hilarious to stalk ororon as kinich idk). and there's more character development and expansion on relationships before the whole "teamwork beats all" thing because that wouldve made it more emotional.

oh and chasca gets unfairly but also understandably mad at mavuika for not telling her she was a hero because if she did, chuychu wouldnt have had to die. and a cutscene for chuychus death too because girl deserved better

(I so badly wish they did POV switches like they do in HSR because I think it wouldve done the AQ so good 😭😭😭)

like again i rebloged Rhine post because i don’t have anything to add, they said it pretty well. its not the bike or the leather thats the ‘root’ issue its just the fact, its not creative at all, like ? Ok a bike? A leather suite? A flaming hair? You put these three together they don’t automatically become something unique and fun they just be three things that are together, snd thats what i feel with Mavuika, she feel like scraps of design concepts that don’t exactly do much.

my original thought was she would be like the Shiva sisters from FFXIII who are two mechanical sisters that combo attract with you/ heal/ buff then as a final shot they combine to make a bike (vid here) so i thought her bike would be some what sentient but ig not?? Kaveh have a talking flying bag, we had a full adventure with a boat, we fought an evil sword AND give it therapy but a sentient bike is too much ig, the modern motorcycle isn’t a deal breaker it’s giving it history and personality i suppose

and thats just one idea, im not saying they should have made the bike sentient im just saying be a little creative here, a bike AND?? What about the bike??

Now that Mavuika's release is right around the corner, I wonder what Neuvillette has to say about her.

Even though she's still the archon, she's not the "original usurper", having inherited the title. And that's without mentioning how Natlan differs from other regions with their connections to the saurians and dragons.

There's also the whole thing about Mavuika still being a human, and how she sacrificed herself and abandoned her past life, all to protect Natlan in the future. Which could remind him of Furina...

No matter what, we can at least presume that he respects her leadership and conviction.

I can't believe I'm gonna say this but... I'm starting to consider taking a break from Genshin and just go play Wuwa instead for once 😬

i'm not sure how i feel about the archon quest as a whole but one thing that i can say is that i really like mavuika. so far throughout the story we've met archons who are all gods (in the eyes of their people at least) - and godhood, whether it ends up demanding devotion or fear, is something that undeniably seperates these archons from the people of their nations, as there's always this big "something" that people seem to believe makes a god "more" than them, and a lot of the time that seems to boil down to the idea that the gods are without flaws that are inherently human. obviously this is very much not the case in practice - it's arguably one of the main themes of the entire game that these systems of worship are flawed because the gods are inherently human in all the ways that actually matter - but the point is that people believe them to be flawless, so there's always this level of insincerity in their characters, whether they're in their role as a god or pretending to be human.

mavuika, on the other hand, almost seems to be the complete opposite of that - she is so, so sincere, to the point where it makes you suspicious of her intentions, because it's nearly the polar opposite of what we've gotten previously. and maybe she is just an incredibly honest person, which in and of itself is still very refreshing when it comes to archon characters, but i think a lot of it comes down to one thing - she's human, and the people of natlan see her as such. yes, she is still the archon, but she's not a god, and so they don't really revere her or worship her - they just extend the same level of respect to her that you would see people in other nations extend to their human leaders (take ningguang as an example.)

i think that having an archon who is so plainly honest and sincere - not just about their plans but about themselves, too - due to the fact that they are already seen as human and therefore don't need to maintain the perfection of a god is so useful for looking at how the archons are just as flawed and just as human as anyone else, and by extension how these systems of worship are flawed and almost redundant. we got another pretty obvious angle through furina - a human who was forced into the role of a god, and who played it perfectly - but having one who's just obviously human from the get-go is just. so nice.

Genshin opinion to get it off my chest but I saw the leaks on the next upcoming character and dude I truly hate Natlan what the hell......I liked the fantasy vibe of the world, but Natlan is just fucking around and being so modern and unserious and killing the vibe that I specifically enjoyed. I don't find the movement mechanics fun, the Nightsoul mechanic annoys me to death, I struggle to connect to the cast the way I could with the other nations...I'm clinging along for Snezhnaya but I'm very concerned where things will go, the sunk cost fallacy is deep but Natlan is making me consider looking for something else. Maybe Infinity Nikki.

Absolutely insane luck in Genshin tonight - I went from having a c0 Nahida to a c2 Nahida in 50 pulls with my first capturing radiance and a con for dehya thrown in for good measure
