#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #jin zixuan #wei wuxian #(Trying to not break my own continuity by showing WWX changing outfits in the middle of a comic...I'm doing my best...)#The original line for the third panel was just 'fuck you' which admittedly is a funnier line.#Wei Wuxian really does call JZX a little pretty boy (not in those words but close enough) and then dramatically one-ups him...#Not only that; he tries to use Lan Wangji's headband as a blindfold. Which I think we need to take a moment to analyze.#It's probably easiest to look at this as ship-tease but I think it's far more in line with how WWX's mask is slipping.#He knows full well how poorly touching LWJ's headband went in the past.#But somehow - in this moment of his anger being targeted at JZX - that crucial information is forgotten.#He's got tunnel vision over something so small...and what do we know about emotions that don't suit the supposed cause?#Why that would be displacement. Something is bothering him and it sure is *not* just Jin Zixuan's fancy ass.#WWX came back but he didn't come back the same. It's rather unsettling how it feels like he's putting on a performance of himself here.

working in a factory has you thinking so much about the insane chain of labor & transport that goes into making literally anything

#like first you realize that You are making & doing things that you previously had thought - if you'd thought abt it at all - were automated #& you become incredibly aware of how all the materials you're working with came from somewhere - these plastic clips are from france; this #fabric is from india etc. and that there are people in factories there making those things and that they are also probably getting their #materials from somewhere #one of the little things that makes me think about this the most is we have these 50m rolls of cotton banding we see onto canvas & nets #and in theory it should be all one piece but sometimes it's actually two pieces which you discover when you get far enough in the roll and #find that there's a join where it's been stitched together by hand (!). which is a little annoying bc we can't use that bit so you have #to cut that but out & stitch it together again on the machine which interrupts what you were sewing before & slows you down But it's so #striking to me bc like it's really easy to look at this banding & it's so exactly the same & obviously machine made it's Really easy to #forget that there are people there running these machines. who notice there's a break & have to stop what they're doing & get a needle &#thread and stitch it together. by hand! like someone somewhere has handled exactly where I'm touching it & i don't even know where in the #world they are!#the other place this happens is often on the selvedge edge of the fabric there's writing in pencil i don't know ye meaning of but evidently #was important to the process somewhere & someone wrote that out #idk like it's really easy to watch those videos of really specific machines in factories & convince yourself that everything is automated #but the truth is the vast majority of stuff is not & is made by people doing that. & even when it is there are people running those machine #<- and i'm not saying this in a soppy way tbc. this whole system is a nightmare of exploitation & to some degree I'm just continually amaze #by how insane this whole process is & also how completely un-transparent it is unless you are made to think abt it #another thing is noticeable when you look at our orders that most of what we sell isn't to customers it's to shops who then sell to custome #which then makes you think like. those plastic clips from france are they actually made in france or are we just buying them from france?#are they actually made by underpaid people in a country the name of which is completely lost to the chain of production at this point #anyways none of this is new it's just when you are working in a factory using this stuff you start wondering like.#what's the factory like that the person who stitched this banding together like. what's their day like there #wish we could talk abt how fucked up this all is - for them especially probably - together #thoughts

#i just came up with this idea and i have to actually think about what would normal people post normally #i don't use social media other than rambling and posting art and screaming in the art reblog tags about how good they are okay i tried #that interface is from bluesky because i just think this kind of interface suits this idea #also i don't have to use come up with unique and funny ids because i can just use the domain name as their id and it wouldn't even be weird #maybe i can use their internal name instead but that wouldnt be a plausible domain name anyways #does anyone remember i made frost a bartender? and grumpy? yeah #umbra is old asf he doesn't know how to use phones #also yes rhino and sevagoth are dating because why not really #should've make sevagoth prime hold chicken cutlet instead. chicken cutlet and boba milk tea are like. Dazai leans over the edge, a strong gust of wind is all it would take to push him over, to send him falling to his sweet, ultimate demise.

Chuuya grabs his arm in a strong grip- but he doesn't pull Dazai away from the edge. Chuuya looks Dazai straight in his eyes. Bright blue eyes meet Dazai's and he says in a firm voice,

"If you jump, you'll kill both of us."

And it's clear, right then, how deeply Chuuya trusts Dazai.

And Dazai doesn't jump.

#the odyssey #odysseus #non mdzs #Worse part of this is that this isn't even the first time he's seen this movie.#I don't think I captured the sheer genuine confusion and distress when the Nobody gambit came up.#Mans had his world upheaved for a moment. Know the risks when you blaze it I suppose.#My dad has great taste in films and I can always count on him recommending something really unique.#We've been going through various Odyssey adaptations and I must say; Odyssey (1997) is a good one.#Telemachus is appropriately a moody and emotional (crybaby) teen boy.#Hermes is the twinkiest little fruit I have every seen. No exaggeration. It is truly a sight to bear witness to.#Athena is sadly a weak point. And while the olive tree is constantly drawn attention to...there's no wedding bed gambit.#Penelope fans will really enjoy how she has lots of good scenes. Her plight runs parallel through the whole movie!#The scene with Anticlea on the beach particularly stands out. 'You'are my mother! You're my father! You are my strength!'#She's losing everything and everyone important to her. She has no control in her life or her home.#All she can do is wait and keep her head high despite the rising waters. God I love her.#All in all; I highly recommend this one as another good adaptation. It rearranges and cuts out some scenes but hits the mark overall.

thank you alex! i finally got the motivation to go back and finish this one up!

I'm cheating a little bit because I was fully in high school when this came out, but none of my other ideas were sparking joy so I went with it. Carmen Sandiego from the 2019 netflix reboot :) The palette ended up working great for her!

I really liked the show, my brother and I watched it together and we enjoyed how complex the story was (even though it was still going for the educational geography angle). And the style it's animated in was really pretty! I love the stylized way they always animate her coat blowing in the wind.
