“You said your father’s advisor?”
“Ah, yes, I suppose you’re not very familiar with how things are structured here. Each King has a council of seven other demons that oversee the eight factions of the Devildom. After the King selects the seven advisors and they’re approved by the House of Lords, the previous King assigns them a faction based on traits they share.”
“So, your father assigned each of the brothers to a faction based on their sins?”
“Yes, but he assigned them even before they were approved due to his council being, we’ll say, disbanded. Aeshma was often referred to the demon of wrath before serving on the council. The faction Satan now rules over was once hers.”
“If I remember correctly,” Simeon chimed in from nearby, “Aeshma was never a fan of yours, was she Lucifer?” Ironic, Cass mused to herself.
“No, I suppose she wasn’t,” Lucifer answered. Cass would have expected him to carry some kind of contempt towards a demon that disliked him, but there didn’t seem to be any. In fact, he looked at the portrait with a sense of appreciation and perhaps admiration before turning away.
As she stared at the painting, a feeling of longing washed over her. For the first time in her short memory, Cass felt homesick. Yet, she couldn’t remember that home. Unconsciously, she grabbed her pendant, the only thing that may connect her to that home.
Asmo started unpacking when they got to their assigned room. While he’d claimed he had packed light and wanted to bring more, Cass couldn’t imagine ever needing half the things he unpacked. Simeon seemed to be sharing her sentiment, but quickly changed his expression.
“I’m excited to be sharing a space with the two of you.”
“Yes, you’re quite lucky to be sharing a space with me,” Asmo responded without looking at him. Simeon shot Cass an amused look but didn’t interrupt Asmo’s rant of why they were so lucky. “You know, Simeon, I’ve been wondering lately, what do you really think of me?”
“I still see you like I did when you were in the Celestial Realm.” Simeon rubbed the back of his neck as he thought about it. “Lucifer, the pride of the Celestial Realm was loved by all and there was one angel that he thought was especially beautiful. An angel whom he praised and kept by his side.”
Cass stole a glance at Asmo. For a moment, the demon looked crestfallen. Even Simeon, who had known him for so long and had seen different sides of him, still saw him for his looks. Then she realized that Asmo had always been told he was worthy because of his beauty. Did he think Lucifer only kept him around for that? That if he didn’t keep his looks up, he wouldn’t be worth anyone’s attention, much less the former pride of the Celestial Realm.
“’Twas, Asmodeus, Jewel of the Heavens!” And in a blink, the mask was on. Asmo winked and grinned at the description. “You’re always someone who works hard to uphold their image so other people appreciate him.”
“So, someone who wants to be loved?”
“Yes,” Simeon answered.
No, Cass wanted to say. It’s someone who needs to be loved. Someone who craves love. Someone who needs to be reminded that they are loved. Someone who wants to be desired but, above all else, desires to be loved.
Asmo tilted his head in thought. “I don’t think that’s quite right. I obviously deserve love, everyone knows that. There probably isn’t anyone who doesn’t love me.”
Simeon laughed. “It’d would be quite interesting to see how you would react around someone you couldn’t charm.”
“What about you, Cass? Do you think there’s someone out there who doesn’t love me?”
Cass stared at him before shrugging. “I think you're conflating love and lust. People aren’t worthy of love because of their looks, and they aren’t unworthy because of them either. Besides, it’s not the quantity of people who love you, but the quality of their love, right? The love from the right person can be worth more than the love of a million others.”
Before either of them could respond, Satan popped his head in the doorway to let them know the tour was starting. Simeon followed him out of the room. Asmo pushed past her, grabbing her hand as he did and tugged her along, but she could tell he wasn’t happy about her answer. Did he think she meant he wasn’t worthy of love despite being beautiful?
“I want to go home,” she heard Luke say before they even entered the room. “Levi made some weird alter for some cartoon character and Beel ATE one of the paintings in our room.”
“The painting was too good. I thought the fruit was real.”
“And you didn’t notice it was a painting before finishing it?”
By the time they joined them, Mammon was defending Luke. He was in a surprisingly in a much better mood than he had been when they got room assignments. Which quickly lead to his plan to steal artifacts around the castle with Solomon and Satan later.
Lucifer arrived just as he finished muttering why he was in a better mood, unaware that the eldest brother’s presence. While the others shifted their teasing to Mammon, a small black ghost that looked like a phantom with golden horns appeared.
“Hello, everyone! I’m Little D. No. 2.”
“Is that a tiny demon?” Luke asked, trying to cover his shock. Beel began drooling and at the same time said, “yummy.”
“I wouldn’t, Beel. Little D. No. 2 would probably make you very sick.”
“I’m sure you’ve all met some of the Little Ds before, if you haven’t met No. 2 since they help with different council tasks including those for the exchange program.”
“Yes, I’ve informally adopted them all,” Cass answered, scratching behind Little D. No. 2’s ear. The small demon practically purred in response.
“Barbatos had some–” there was a miniscule pause in his sentence. Cass wasn’t sure if anyone else caught it, but it seemed like he was hiding something “–student council business to attend to, so I asked Little D. No. 2 to be our guide. He’s small, but helpful.”
“Unlike another number 2 I know,” Lucifer smirked.
Mammon was about to defend himself when Little D. No. 2 interrupted. “Let’s begin with this portrait over here!”
Little D. No. 2 proceeded to walk them through the row of portraits of the Demon Kings in Devildom history. Before taking them to a long hallway full of pictures. Everyone spread out, looking at the different paintings. Mammon and Levi began complaining of boredom and Beel’s stomach continued to growl. Cass stopped in front of a portrait that wasn’t particularly special.
The subject of the portrait was looking slightly to the side. Her eyes were closed, and she had a slight smile. As if it had caught her reaction to a loved one being all too excited about the corny joke they just told. The portrait made it look like their long white hair was reflecting a soft blue light from the moon. Below one eye was a dark black mark that looked like a small, tattooed sigil.
There was something familiar about the person in the picture, but Cass couldn’t place it. She didn’t have to look away to tell that Diavolo had joined her to look at the portrait. He didn’t speak right away, as if remembering her.
“Aeshma of the old council. She’s often cited among some of the most powerful demons in Devildom history.”
“She’s beautiful.” Diavolo hummed in agreement. “It’s odd, if Preta was in their full human form, I feel like they’d look like her.”
“It is their aunt, so it’s not too surprising.” Diavolo chuckled.
“Really?” Cass asked, finally tearing her eyes away from the portrait.
“Aeshma was my father’s most trusted advisor, so I spent a lot of time with her growing up. It’s also why I’m so close to Preta.”
“What happened?”
“She was forfeited. It’s actually one of the reasons Preta stays in an in-between state. I suppose it’d be quite upsetting if whenever they saw their reflection and it mirrored their aunt. Presha adored Aeshma and never really recovered after losing her.”
Cass wanted to ask more, but it seemed Diavolo was also still upset about losing someone he was close to.
“Cass, are you okay?” Diavolo asked.
“Yeah, sorry. It must be because she looks so much like Preta, but I weirdly feel like I’ve met her before.”
Diavolo didn’t question her, and for that, Cass was grateful. She’s not sure she could explain the feeling. She knew it wasn’t because of the similar looks. Whatever happened before arriving in the Devildom, she’d met that demon before.
“Hey, it’s the Celestial Realm!” Luke called from the other end of the hall. Luckily, he distracted the others, and Cass was able to wipe the tears from her eyes that threatened to fall.
“Ah, yes. That was painted around the first time I met Lucifer.” Diavolo laughed when he looked at the picture. Lucifer groaned, knowing Diavolo was going to share more. “He was so divine and awe-inspiring that he took my breath away. I couldn’t believe how such a beautiful angel existed.”
“Guess we know why he wanted to share a room with Lucifer so bad,” Cass muttered to Mammon who stifled his laugh when Lucifer shot them a glare.
Diavolo continued, unbothered. “You even refused to shake my hand at first.”
Before they could learn more, a horrible shrieking filled the room. Everyone looked around, trying to figure identify the source. Cass brought her hands up, covering her ears, the shrieking only getting louder.
“HELENE!” Asmo yelled, running towards one of the portraits.
“Helene the witch was once known far and wide by her unparalleled beauty. Then, Asmodeus came along and seduced her. In turn, she betrayed her lover to be with him,” Little D. No. 2 explained.
“All surprised, raise your hands,” Solomon laughed.
“War erupted from the event and destroyed the entire country. Afterwards Helene was described only as a horrible woman who sold her soul to a demon.”
“All because Asmo couldn’t keep it in his pants.” Asmo, completely unaware of Little D. No. 2 and Solomon, started trying to reconnect with the witch. “Is, is he really trying to flirt right now?”
“After Asmodeus, I incurred the wrath of my former lover’s nephew. He was a sorcerer who sealed me in this painting,” the portrait spoke.
“That must have been Demetrios. It’s quite impressive he grew up to be a sorcerer capable of trapping you. I imagine he must’ve been quite the man given how his father was a hunk.” Asmo pouted slightly. “Why didn’t you tell me? I would have come to help.”
Helene continued yelling at Asmo, nothing she said getting through to the demon as he tried to flirt his way out of her anger. Suddenly, Mammon started being pulled towards the painting. He grabbed onto Levi’s arm trying to ground himself.
“Uh-oh. Watch out, she’s known for dragging viewers in, mmmkay,” Little D. No. 2 laughed.
“Why didn’t say something sooner!” Mammon demanded as he disappeared through the portrait.
Levi was quick to follow, complaining about his lack of muscles. Beel, whom nobody had grabbed onto, didn’t even bother fighting the witch, hunger getting the best of him. Solomon latched onto Asmo, scolding him for the turn of events. The last thing Cass heard as Asmo grabbed onto her and she was pulled through the painting was Little D. No. 2 telling them to always listen to the tour guide.
Cass slammed against a concrete floor, groaning from impact. After the room stopped spinning, she took in her surroundings. She was in an old stone hallway that looked like part of the Demon King’s castle. The hall stretched into darkness with no end in sight, just a few doorways along the way.
“Here me, denizens of darkness, you who are born of shadow and you who give birth to it,” Solomon’s voice echoed around her. “Here me and do as I command! I, King Solomon the Wise, call upon you to send forth one of your numbers! I summon Den of Iniquities’ Master Asmodeus, Avatar of Lust!”
“You can summon demons?”
Asmo landed somewhere down the hall from them, rolling on impact. He looked as confused as Cass felt, trying to get his bearings. Upon seeing them, he stood up and brushed any dirt off his clothes before stomping over to yell at Solomon.
“EXCUSE ME!” He yelled. “I told you to be GENTLE when you summoned me.”
“Oh, like your girlfriend was with us?” Solomon retorted before turning to answer Cass. “Yes, you can summon demons through your pact with them. It’d probably be difficult for you to do since you have almost no magical power.”
“I don’t know where we are or what’s going on, but we need to find Beel and get out of here. Otherwise, he’s going to go on a rampage and destroy the castle like he ruined your room, Cass.”
They chose a path and started walking, deciding to not take any turns that weren’t necessary. Solomon marked the walls as they went, in case they got turned around or came to a dead end and needed to backtrack. As much as she wanted to, Cass refrained from complaining when her feet started to get sore, knowing they were all in the same situation.
Asmo, however, didn’t seem to care. “How much longer does this go on? Are you even sure this is the right way?”
“You’re the reason we’re here, Asmo, so suck it up.”
“Excuse me! Cass, tell him I did nothing wrong.”
“Being a catalyst to the Trojan war is definitely not nothing. Why don’t you just apologize for trying to seduce a married woman?”
“Me? Apologize? It didn’t plan for anything to happen. It’s not like I even manipulated her. I simply gave her an opportunity and she grabbed it. Everyone has lust in their heart. No matter how noble or saintly they pretend to be, they’re keeping it locked up in there.”
“Given the spectrum of sexual attraction, not everyone has lust in their hearts. Are you sure you’re not projecting?”
Asmo stopped her, staring down into her eyes. “As hard as you may try to control it, deep inside you wish you could do and have what you want. You’re just fighting to suppress the urge and desire to be free. Aren’t you, Cass?”
Asmo grabbed her chin, forcing her to maintain eye contact as he moved closer, his voice lowering into a deep whisper. “Who is it you desire? What sort of secret shameful thoughts are hidden inside that heart of yours?” His other arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her flush against him. His breath ghosted over her lips. “Why don’t you let me reach inside and unleash it.”
“There’s been a development.”
“We’re having a moment here, Solomon,” Asmo answered, not looking away from Cass.
“Sorry, I just thought you might want to know that Mammon, Levi, and Beel are coming towards us followed by a giant snake.”
Asmo didn’t release her as he looked over Cass’s shoulder to see what Solomon was talking about. He jumped back, finally letting her go, waving his hands frantically as he shouted ew. Cass turned to see Solomon wasn’t joking when he said giant.
“I hate looking at unattractive things. It’s disgusting,” Asmo cringed.
Cass rolled her eyes at his reaction. It was kind of amazing how he could flip that switch so quickly. Mammon reached them first, picking up Cass and giving Asmo a shove. By the time Beel caught up, Solomon had started running in the direction they were going before Asmo distracted them. Cass looked over Mammon’s shoulder to see Levi trailing shortly behind them, the snake getting closer.
They were finally able to lose it and pause to come up with a plan. Mammon set her down with a quick apology, explaining that he figured it be harder for her to keep up being human. They had to figure out something fast. There’s no way the snake was far. Even if it were, Beel’s stomach growling gave their location away to anything in a ten-mile radius.
“Way to go, idiot,” Levi coughed, still trying to breathe.
Asmo, Cass, and Solomon looked around not sure what he meant. “I thought it was a snake’s shed skin that I could take with us and sell. How was I supposed to know it was a friggin’ monster?
“He’s not a monster,” Levi cried, trying to hit Mammon, but not having enough energy. “He’s Henry 1.0. He was down here all along. I never thought I’d see him again.”
“I’m sorry, Henry 1.0?”
“It’s his pet snake. Every time Levi gets a new pet, he names it Henry.”
“You’re onto, what, you’re fourth henry?
“NO! I currently have Henry 2.0. I’m so happy that Henry 1.0 is alive and well! He grew up to be so big. Look at the selfie I took with him!” Levi beamed, turning his phone for them to see.
“You had time to take a fucking selfie? While we were runnin’ for our lives?”
“If he’s your pet, why can’t you pacify him?”
Levi smile fell. “He looked like he’d forgotten about me.”
“Or he’s pissed you replaced him and left him to die.” Levi turned to Cass horrified at even the joke that he would do that.
“Let’s hunt it down, trap it, and eat it,” Beel said, a scary level of determination taking over his features.
“NOOOO,” Levi screamed.
“Plan B?” Mammon asked.
“Well, if it were up to Asmo, he’d be trying to sleep with it.”
“EXCUSE ME?” Asmo yelled at the same time Solomon spoke. “That actually gives me an idea.”
---
After Mammon had distracted the snake, Solomon had been able to amplify Asmo’s powers for him to charm the snake. After being charmed, the snake safely led them to an exit before disappearing down the corridors. Levi’s cries of goodbye following the snake in his tracks.
They’d gotten out in time for Barbatos’s dinner and before Beel’s little remaining self-control left. They had retired earlier, giving Cass some time to unwind after everything happened. That, and time to research the former council.
There had been very little information about them in the final years of their existence. It would have been impossible for her to have met Aeshma, considering she had been forfeited. Not that Cass had been able to figure out what exactly that meant.
With a brief interruption from Mammon trying to start a pillow fight with Asmo, who had been pretending to be asleep, and Lucifer charging into the room, Cass had fallen asleep early. That sleep had gone uninterrupted as Asmo claimed he needed his beauty sleep and Simeon could have been dead with how quiet and unmoving he was once asleep.
Apparently, after being pulled away by Lucifer, Mammon hadn’t gotten much sleep. The following morning, he could barely stand up. His head rested on Beel’s shoulder as he tried to sneak in a quick nap. Levi was live tweeting the conversation, as he had done the day before.
“I’m sure you had a hard time yesterday,” Diavolo laughed, “but it was quite fun to watch.”
“You know,” Asmo started, “I bet–”
Before he had time to continue, both Simeon and Cass rushed to cover Luke’s ears. Cass wasn’t able to catch everything Asmo said, but she was grateful that they’d gotten to Luke before he’d heard any of the vulgarity pouring out of his mouth. Both of them glared at the demon, who shrugged, unbothered.
“Why are you covering my ears? I can’t hear anything,” Luke shouted.
“Why don’t we just get started with the scavenger hunt?” Solomon asked, trying to divert attention away from Asmo.
They divided into teams based on their room pairings. Something seemed off about Asmo, like he was trying to prove something. He kept disappearing during their search and didn’t bother helping. He was being especially aggressive about getting Cass’s attention.
“Did you really hatch a plot to keep us from winning?” Satan demanded, charging up to them.
Simeon and Cass exchanged a look, not sure what he was talking about. “Asmo’s been preventing us from making any progress.”
“He keeps jumpin’ in front of the items when we go to get a picture so we can’t get a clear shot.”
“Why do you even want a picture of some old boring art. Your camera will thank you for taking a picture with such a beautiful subject.”
“SERIOUSLY?” Luke shouted from around the corner.
“Luke?”
“I tried to take a picture of this statue and Asmodeus went and charmed it.”
“I can’t help that I’m so beautiful and charming, plus the rule didn’t say I couldn’t do that.” Mammon and Satan both starting yelling at him. Asmo waved his hand in a shooing motion at them before turning and walking away. “I’m going somewhere where I don’t have to listen to someone lecturing me.”
The others called after him or complained about his attitude. Cass sighed, handed Simeon the paper with their clues, and followed the drama queen they got for a partner. He was taking selfies when she found the room he’d retreated to.
Asmo looked up at the sound of the door closing. Before she knew it, he had backed her against it, placing a hand on her hip. The other reached down and locked the door. There was something different about him. It reminded her of the maze yesterday and when they’d first met.
“Did you follow me for some alone time?”
The way he spoke reminded her of a hypnotist. Even though it was a question, he said it as a statement. His movements strategic, laying the foundation for whatever his goal was. Even without using his powers, there was something hypnotic about the demon.
But she wasn’t going to let herself get pulled in by cheap tricks. “No. I came to get you so we could finish the game. Also, you should apologize to the others, that wasn’t cool.”
Asmo hummed in fake thought, but Cass could tell he wasn’t considering it. The hand on the door went to cup her cheek. She tried to shift out of his grasp, not recognizing his behavior. Normally, he seemed to exude love, making others feel as good as he did. This was too calculated for Asmo, too harsh. The hand on her hip tightened, as he leaned down to speak in her ear.
“Oh, no? Was I being unfair?” He mocked, pulling her even closer. His grip became painful, but he refused to let go despite how much she struggled. “What an odd behavior. Who would have thought a demon would be unfair or unkind? Did you delude yourself into thinking we aren’t the type of beings to take what we want?”
Cass squeezed her eyes shut, not wanting to look at him. He pulled away as he tsked, hand moving to her chin and squeezing until she looked at him again. She glared back, knowing it would do very little, but wanting him to see how pissed she was.
“I tried charming you yesterday and again today. But you didn’t feel anything, did you? You’re just some human. Why doesn’t my power work on you?” He became enraged at the very notion, but the soon expression shifted to a ruthless, inhuman one. “Don’t worry though, I can convince you in other ways.”
“This is a really ugly side of you,” Cass spit out.
Asmo’s grip became impossibly tight as he pressed her into the door. His horns sprouted at her words, and she knew she had hit a nerve. He grinned. Unlike his normal smile it was sadistic. When they’d first met, his eyes reminded her of a flickering candle, drawing her in. Now, there was nothing behind the pale saffron hue.
"I don’t have any ugly sides, Cass. I’m happy to take my time and show you that.”
“Knock it off, this isn’t funny.”
“Who said I’m joking? I don’t know why you’re fighting me. Things would go a lot smoother for you if you just agreed. Besides, this is what everyone wants, to be with me. You should consider yourself lucky I find you worthy enough.”
“Fuck you.”
“I’m certainly not surprised to hear that from you. That’s what you’re doing, isn’t it? Sleeping your way through my brothers? Or is it just whoever will agree to it? I suppose it was only a matter of time before you tried to trick me into a pact too. Did you think insulting me yesterday would make me want to prove something to you? I’m not going to let that happen, you’re not going to control me.”
Cass blinked rapidly, trying to clear the tears forming in her eyes. She wasn’t sure if it was from the pain of Asmo’s nails digging into her skin or what he was saying. She needed to get away from him somehow otherwise he might let his sin and insecurities take over completely. How had he gotten into a state of such desperation that he couldn’t control himself?
“Cass?”
She heard someone calling her name. She used the brief window of time Asmo was distracted to shove him away from her. He stumbled backwards, falling into the nearby chair. She threw the door open and glanced back. The feral look in his eyes was gone and a mixture of regret and self-hatred took its place. She didn’t care though, she wanted him to feel that way, at least for now.
Cass didn’t stop when she passed Mammon. He called after her, confusion evident in his voice. She didn’t want to talk to him. She didn’t want to talk to anyone right now. By the time she was back to her room, she couldn’t stop the tears. Her anger only made it worse.
She grabbed her keys, leaving the rest of her belongings. Diavolo would probably let her get them later. If not, they really weren’t worth packing. Cass made it to the front door before someone stopped her. She ripped her arm out of their grasp, not wanting anyone to touch her.
“Where do you think you’re going? Lord Diavolo planned this retreat and we’re staying for the weekend.”
“You go right ahead. I’m not staying here any longer.” Lucifer went to stop her again and she shoved him. “Don’t fucking touch me,” she hissed. She knew he was going to scold her, tell her not to risk harming Diavolo’s image. “Don’t worry about threatening me either, your brother already beat you to it this time.”
Lucifer furrowed his eyebrows, only now taking in her tear-stained face. She could hear Mammon calling her name still. There were a few other voices, but it didn’t matter who right now. Cass pulled open the door before Lucifer could stop her and walked out of the castle.
Only after she was alone did she start to calm down. A weird feeling had settled over her after she started the walk towards town. At first, she’d thought it was Lilith. Then she noticed the difference. Whenever Lilith’s presence appeared, it was like a wall between her and whoever was threatening her.
This feeling only came once any threat had passed. Rather than preventing the danger, it was comforting. Like a blanket draped around her shoulders or hug from a best friend. Whatever, or whoever, this was, Cass was glad to have them on her side.
Cass didn’t have a plan once she made it to town. They’d be looking for her at the House of Lamentation, Purgatory Hall, or one of the restaurants she frequented. There weren’t any places Cass could imagine going to that they wouldn’t think to check.
She sank to the ground, sitting on the edge of the sidewalk. There’s nothing she wanted more than her memory back. Or, at the very least, her memory of one person. She just needed one person she could turn to no matter what.
“Isn’t it dangerous for you to be out here?”
Cass looked up at the person who had stopped in front of her. She wore a large black witch’s hat. If Cass were standing, the brim would cover one of her golden amber eyes where it dipped from the weight. An old scar, likely from an animal’s scratch, ran across one side of her face and a maroon rune was on her forehead. Her hair had been pulled back at one point, but now pieces were falling out and the hair tie close to following.
The oddest thing about the witch was the greyish tone to her skin and the vacant look behind her eyes. Cass wasn’t sure why, but the first word that came to her mind was corpse. Her stare seemed to go right through her, like Cass was a ghost.
“I guess it’ll be easier for you to survive since your only half here.”
“What?” Cass blinked up at the witch.
“Has no one told you yet?” She looked to her right, falling silent. Cass looked down the street, but nothing was there. “I don’t know who called me here, but they weren’t very powerful. You’ll need to find someone stronger next time.”
Cass turned back to the stranger, but she was already gone. A single raven’s feather floated to the ground, a small, rolled piece of paper was tied to the quill. Cass unfurled the paper to reveal a single name, Nadia Kyteler.
“Hell to Cass!” Cass jumped at the voice looking up from the card to see Preta leaning over her. “I’ve been calling your name from down the block. What are you doing here?”
“Oh, sorry. I, um, I was supposed to be at the Demon Lord’s castle, but something happened and I kind of ran away?”
“Just when I think you can’t be any more amazing,” Preta laughed. “Do you want to talk about it?” Cass shook her head. “Well, I have to go to some stupid dance in about four hours. Do you want to get drunk and come with me to get ready?”
---
“What’s it like when you get hungry?” Cass asked. Preta gave her a quizzical look. “Obviously I know what it feels like to be hungry. I meant, what does it feel like after you get past the typical feelings, when it starts to take over your thoughts?”
“It’s hard to know when that is, really, because I’m always hungry, I’ve always been hungry. I don’t know what it’s like to not be hungry, just what it’s like to be less hungry. That feeling’s just part of me and it’ll never really be gone.
“It’s like a headache. If it’s not bad, you ignore it. But you can only do that so long before it starts to impact your thoughts and actions. Eventually, it becomes all consuming. Every sound, every movement, every little thing is about the headache. And you’ll do anything to get rid of it, but at some point, it’s not really you making those decisions. Something else takes control because you can’t fight it anymore.”
It made sense, she’d seen all the brothers go through something similar. Countless times Lucifer looked like he wanted to apologize, but couldn’t say the words or when he did, they always came with a warning. Mammon had called her outside of the casino having been ripped away from the table because he couldn’t leave. Levi almost killed her because of it. Satan and Beel had destroyed parts of the house on several occasions. And now, with Asmo.
“You’re really going to go?” Preta asked, when Cass didn’t say anything. After she’d told them about what happened, Preta kept asking her that.
Cass sighed, looking up at the ceiling. The dance Preta had mentioned turned out to be the formal ball Diavolo was hosting for the exchange program. It made sense given their family’s connection to the House of Lords and Royal family. As much as she didn’t want to see Asmo, she knew it wasn’t an option.
“Yeah, it’s not Diavolo’s fault. Regardless of how many times Lucifer threatens me, I don’t want the exchange program to fail either.”
“Alright but say the word and I will break every one of that fucker’s nails and then pull them off one by one.”
Cass, who’d taken a sip of her drink at that moment, started coughing. The image of Asmo having each nail broken made her feel better than it probably should have. The stylist Preta had managed to hire at the last minute looked more concerned about Cass than Preta did. After she made sure Cass was fine, she went back to finishing her hair.
Preta picked up their phone, rolling their eyes at Cass. “Hello?...Do I look like I run a service for runaway humans?...Maybe she doesn’t want to talk to you, and that’s why she’s not answering...I will immediately check on that for you.” They ended the call and set their phone back down.
“What are you checking on?”
“I’m not. He’ll get his answer when you get to the ball, I’m not his secretary.” Before Cass could respond, they changed the subject. “Do you even have something to wear for this?”
Preta groaned as their phone rang again. Cass shook her head in response to the question. “Hey, Dia!...I hung up on him because he’s an arrogant ass...I’d say he should learn some manners, but he doesn’t really need anything else to warrant his ego...Yes, she’ll be at the caste, safe and sound and the envy of all...Goodbye.”
“Good news, a dress will be waiting for you at my apartment. If you hate it, I probably have something you can wear. Bad news, the dress they sent has reds, so those won’t work.”
Cass turned to see the stylist holding flowers with a magenta hue. She hadn’t even realized the stylist was there. Preta took a sip of their drink, already scrolling through their phone. After a beat they held it up to the stylist, showing her some different pictures. The stylist went into the back, returning with gold laurel branches and flowers of a pale azureish seafoam.
“How do you make your freckles glow?”
“My what?”
“When you were sitting outside, your freckles looked like they were almost glowing. Kind of like pact marks in use. Did you make another pact?”
“No,” Cass muttered, staring into the mirror.
She traced over the dusting of freckles on her cheeks. They didn’t look any different than usual. Despite their being black, they were usually easy enough to cover with some light make-up, if she chose to hide them. They couldn’t be a pact mark, right? They weren’t even sigils, just random dots, like stars in a constellation.
“It was probably just my eyes playing tricks or residual magic, I wouldn’t worry about it,” they added after noticing Cass’s reaction. “Just thought it was a cool party trick for a human.”
By the time they made it to Preta’s apartment, they were both tipsy. So much so, that when Cass saw the heels shoes that accompanied the dress, she almost cried. Despite wearing heels most of the time, they weren’t usually this tall. She’d struggle walking in them even if she hadn’t had anything to drink.
It was only after Preta stopped laughing and ate enough food to satisfy a family of four that they announced there was a spell to help. Of course, there was a spell for that. The more time she spent in the Devildom, the more she wished she could perform some magic.
“That bitch! Of all the times Asmo has seen me in heels.”
“Say the word and I’ll do it. One nail at a time.”
Cass laughed, swaying where she stood. Okay, okay, okay, Cass. She thought to herself, or maybe she said the words out loud. Either way, she needed to focus and finish getting ready. She was fortunate enough that liquor in the Devildom didn’t affect her as much as it did demons. It did, however, make her feel cross-faded. By the time she started taking out the dress that had been sent for her, Preta had already changed.
Their hair was pulled back into a slick ponytail making their horns appear even more prominent. They were wearing a formal suit. The fitted, cropped white top contrasting the oversized black jacket and high-rise pants. While it wasn’t unusual for Preta to wear black and white, the whole ensemble showcased how well they could fit in around Diavolo and Mephisto.
“You need to hurry, or we’ll be late,” Preta said, mouth full of the bread they’d taken a bite of.
Moving as fast as she could, Cass started changing. The dress had clearly been designed with her in mind. The dark mahogany lace bodice was so dark that it looked black at certain angles. Sigils of the brothers she’d made pacts with made up the lace design.
Each layer of the gathered skirt was a lighter color. There was a slit in the dress that showed peaks of the bold blood red of the bottom layer when she walked. The heels laced in a way that went all the way up her leg. Even with the heels, the skirt trailed behind her while she walked.
Cass spun once the dress was on, unable to look away. Somehow, the fabric had been embedded with magic to reflect lights like gold sparkles. There was a single elbow length glove that she debated wearing but decided that whoever designed the dress knew best. Mammon and Levi’s pact marks would have been hidden with the matching glove. The gold jewelry included in the package matched the clips in her hair.
“Wow, you look stunning.”
Preta was close enough to examine the details of the dress. Cass, distracted by the sparkles, hadn’t noticed someone entered the apartment. They both jumped at the sound of a throat clearing. Mephisto stood in the doorway looking unamused.
“How many times must I tell you not to eat after you’ve gotten ready?” He grumbled, walking up to Preta to wipe the crumbs off their shirt. “Cass, you look presentable, surprisingly.”
“Did you hear that, Cass? Presentable. He’s absolutely swooning.”
Cass giggled at the impression Preta started doing of the demon, grabbing his arm to keep her balance. Mephisto rolled his eyes, before pausing to appraise both of them. His eyes narrowed after a moment, and he inhaled sharply.
“Did you really get drunk again? As associates of Lord Diavolo, we owe it to him–”
“When did you become such a lame ass, Phitsy?” Preta interrupted, grabbing their keys.
“Excuse me? Do you really think Aeshma would be proud of this behavior? Or that you got one of the guests of honors drunk?”
“Do you really think you’d get away with admonishing Aeshma?” Preta bit out, pushing past him. “Don’t act like you’re above me. Pointy boot shoe bitch.”
Cass watched the interaction with wide eyes, afraid to interrupt or move. Even though this is how the two always interacted, the demonus made her hesitant. After Preta left, Mephisto looked down at her. Only then did she realize she was still holding onto his arm.
Cass let him guide her into the hall so he could close the door. “I am but an inozent human was cor-” she hiccupped “-rupted by a demon.”
---
Luckily, Mephisto’s driver was able to get them there on time. Still affected by the demonus, Cass tried to stay towards the back of the room. Solomon was the first one to approach her, linking arms and pulling her in line with the other exchange students and the student council.
“If you get any more radiant, people are going to start thinking you’re an angel.”
“If you get any creepier, people are going to start thinking you’re a demon,” Cass retorted, trying to appear normal, but the blush that had appeared at his words quickly gave her away.
How long had they been standing there? She knew someone was giving them instructions, but all she could think about was dinner. Solomon was clearly amused by her behavior, probably well aware of her inebriated state.
She jumped when she felt his breath hit her ear, unaware that he’d leaned down to speak. “You’re lucky most demons aren’t familiar of human behavior, or you might have more to worry about than Lucifer knowing you showed up drunk.”
“What’s he going to do kill me?”
Solomon snorted in response, trying not to laugh too loud. “They’re just going to introduce us and then you can go back to hiding in the shadows.”
As they approached the top of the stairs, Cass was able to hear the announcer better. It was the first time she’d heard the brothers’ full titles. Except when Solomon summoned Asmo. As each name was announced, she became more and more excited about what her own would be.
Archdemon Lucifer the Morning Star, Avatar of Pride...Count Mammon of Wealth, Avatar of Greed...Grand Admiral Leviathan, Avatar of Envy...Prince Satan of Darkness, Avatar of Wrath...Den of Iniquities Master Asmodeus, Avatar of Lust...Lord Beelzebub of Flies, Avatar of Gluttony...Chief Demon Belphegor, Avatar of Sloth.
Even the Angels’ and Solomon’s titles were formidable. Archangel Simeon, Principality of Kindness... Angel Luke, Disciple of the Archangel Michael... King Solomon the Wise, Son of David. Which may be why it was so disappointing to hear her introduction as Exchange Student Cass of the Human Realm.
“What a fucking disappointment,” she whispered as Solomon and her stepped to the edge of the stairs.
She didn’t miss the smirk he wore as they waited for the signal they could proceed towards the main floor. Cass thanked whoever was listening that Preta had used that spell on her shoes because she was certain she would have fallen down the stairs without it.
Solomon should have thanked them too because had she been a little more certain of her steps, she probably would have shoved him when he told her to do something more interesting if she wanted a better title.
The ballroom of the Castle was as extraordinary as the rest of the place. Cass had to remind herself to act natural, paranoid someone would wonder why she kept staring at the chandeliers. The jewels that hung from them may be common in the Devildom, but she was certain they weren’t crystal or diamonds, and she couldn’t figure out what they were.
Her paranoia wasn’t helped by the fact everyone seemed to be following her movements. She should have borrowed a different dress from Preta to blend in more. The sparkles only attracted more attention than she wanted.
It wasn’t long before Mammon, Satan, and Levi had found their way to her. Though she’d seen them in their demon forms before, it was rare to see them dressed in formal wear at the same time. Just as Preta seemed transformed, so did the brothers. For the first time, she saw them as others may, imposing members of the ruling council.
Cass was certain Mammon wasn’t acting any different. Try as she might, though, she couldn’t keep up with his stuttering to string together any meaning. Satan and Levi settling into the role of commentators, never ones to pass up the opportunity to poke fun at Mammon.
“You’re talking so fast,” Cass finally said.
She put her hand on his arm, looking up at him with tired eyes. She smiled, waiting for him to continue at a slower rate, but his brain seemed to stop at the action. Mammon was blushing so hard, he could have matched the color of her skirt.
“Cass,” a voice interrupted them. She turned to see Lucifer standing behind her. “Come dance with me.”
Without giving her a chance to respond, he grasped her hand and pulled her to the dance floor. The chandeliers looked even more amazing looking up from the dance floor. It wasn’t until Lucifer squeezed her hand that whatever trance she’d been in snapped.
“What happened with Asmo?” Cass stumbled over her feet at the question. “He hasn’t spoken to anyone since you disappeared earlier. As I’ve said before, I respect my brother’s wishes, but if you ever become a threat–”
“You sound like a broken record,” Cass interrupted. Lucifer clenched his jaw. “I get it, if I ever hurt you or your brothers, you’ll kill me, and no one will find the body.”
Lucifer quickly dipped her before pulling her close. Her head was still spinning as he continued speaking. “You seem to have a hard time remember that.”
“And what makes you so certain your brother was the one in danger earlier?” Lucifer didn’t answer, tension hanging between them as the song came to an end. “If you want to dance with me, you can do that without the threat. I won’t judge you.”
Cass barely caught the slight blush at her words as Lucifer dropped her hands. He stepped back, allowing Solomon to swoop in before the next song started, and she was stuck with Lucifer as her dance partner once again. The sorcerer’s grip on her hand was far gentler than the demon’s.
“How are you holding up?” Cass shrugged, not sure how to answer. “I’m not sure what happened with Asmo earlier, and it may not be my place, but I think you should speak with him once you’re ready.”
“You’re right, it’s not your place.” A sigh quickly followed her words, knowing the anger was misplaced. “Where is he anyways? I’d have thought he’d vying for center of attention.”
Solomon raised his eyebrows, only humming in response. That’s all he needed to do though. If he hadn’t spoken with anyone, he obviously wasn’t in the place to dazzle a crowd. While she felt guilty, she was also relieved Asmo at least realized he’d gone too far.
“You know, I find it a bit odd you haven’t manifested any magic.” Cass glanced at Solomon, wondering where the change of subject was leading. “I’m curious to know what would happen if you could take control command demons with your pacts. How would you feel about borrowing mine?”
Cass stilled. He was going to come up with a reason why he was offering that, because Solomon would never admit the truth. He wanted to lend them to her, so she felt safe enough to approach Asmo now. No matter how he acted, Solomon really did care about him.
“And why would you do that?” Cass asked, playing into it. “Do you have a booty call and want to hide it?”
Solomon laughed, the music loud enough it didn’t draw any attention to their conversation. “You know, if your magic is strong enough, you can make it so demons don’t have that feeling.”
“So why is it that Asmo is so familiar with that feeling when it comes to you?”
“I said you can, not that I did.” Solomon winked like the cheeky bastard he was. “How would you like to experiment a bit and know what it’s like to have magic and possibly control a demon? We wouldn’t want to waste the opportunity since it’s a retreat.”
Once the song ended, Diavolo started introducing her to what felt like everyone. By the time the dance was over, she was ready to spend the next few days in solitude. Before anyone could stop her, Cass slipped away down the first empty hall, wandering the castle for a moment’s peace.
She didn’t have many options. Preta had disappeared halfway through the dance, sending her a text later that an emergency had come up. It was passed the point she felt comfortable venturing down the streets alone.
While there were plenty of rooms at the castle, there’s no telling what hid behind some of the doors. Even with Solomon’s magic, she’d rather avoid being thrown back into the underground labyrinth, especially alone.
Cass debated whether to just find a safe enough area to sleep or risk going to the room she’d been assigned to and coming across Asmo. There was a chance they’d rearranged sleeping arrangements because of this afternoon. Before making up her mind, however, she stumbled across Mammon.
He was pointing at the doors he passed, as if counting them from the corner he’d just rounded. Like her, he was still dressed in his outfit from the dance though his horns and wings were out of sight. It didn’t take a genius to figure out he was doing something he wasn’t supposed to be.
“Whatever you’re planning, I’d reconsider.”
Cass had never seen anyone jump the way did Mammon had. He’s lucky it was her that had come across him, considering he hadn’t been aware of his surroundings. His hand went to his heart to calm down before he started muttering under his breath.
“I’m not doing anything bad,” he whispered once she was close. She glared at him. “Okay, fine. I saw something in Lucifer’s room last night that would be really easy to steal. Nobody will even notice it’s missing. I’ll be so fast, they won’t even know I was here.”
Mammon opened the door, holding his finger to his lips to signal she needed to stay quiet. Mammon didn’t give her an option to follow or not. He grabbed her arm, pulling her into the pitch-black room, letting the door close softly behind them.
Cass squinted trying to adjust to the darkness. Something was wrong, that much was clear. The room was damp, as if someone had been stuck inside panting. A soft breeze blew through the room, but it carried the same warm, damp feeling. There was nothing refreshing about the air or the smell of death it carried.
“Shit,” Mammon whispered, grabbing onto her arm. “There’s something slippery on the floor.”
Before Cass could get more information, a loud grumble echoed around them. The sound was not unlike Beel when he hadn’t eaten enough. Had Mammon got confused and ended up in Beel’s room? Whatever was in the room shifted, and three pairs of eyes narrowed in on Mammon and Cass.
“Aw, it’s just a dog!” Cass practically squealed, rushing forward to pet the multiheaded animal.
The dog growled when Mammon grabbed her arm, pulling her back. “What the hell are you thinking? That’s Cerberus. We’ve got to get the hell out of here.”
“What? No, I think he’s just lonely.”
Mammon released her arm, frantically looking for a door. When he was distracted, Cass reached up, scratching beneath one of the dog’s chins. Even in the dark, she could see his tail wagging. While still loud enough to be terrifying, a deep satisfied rumble came from the dog.
“There’s another door here,” Mammon announced.
He picked her up by the waist, ignoring her protests and ran through the doorway without hesitating. They started falling, surrounded by darkness before crashing onto the stone floor of the labyrinth. Mammon cursed, taking the brunt of the fall since he was still holding Cass. She dusted off her clothes, helping him stand.
“We’re back in the labyrinth,” Cass groaned, stating the obvious.
“Yup.”
“Do you also think that noise is Henry 1.0 making his way towards us?”
“Most likely.”
“Bring it on.”
“We should be fine, Asmo charmed it.”
At the very far end of the corridor, Henry 1.0 started slithering towards them. Whatever charm the snake had been under before, it clearly had been lifted. Mammon was yelling at her to run, but she knew there was no point. If they were going to get out of this, they needed Asmo. As much as she didn't want to summon him, thinking it would only push them further apart, it was a last resort. Hopefully he’d understand.
She really should have paid more attention to Solomon earlier. She fumbled through the words, hoping it was close enough. “Denizens of darkness, those born of shadow and those who birth it. Here me, Cass, as I call to summon Den of Iniquities’ Master Asmodeus, Avatar of Lust!”
Magic swirled around them. This hadn’t happened when Solomon summoned Asmo yesterday. Was she too far off with the words that it went horribly wrong? Before her, Asmo materialized, confusion evident on his features. He started criticizing Solomon before he even saw Mammon or Cass.
Much like Mammon, he was still wearing his formal wear, but no longer had his demon features visible. The static caused by the magic didn’t dissipate. The charge only increased Cass’s adrenaline as the snake was almost too them.
“Cass?” Asmo’s eyes lit up, a mixture of emotion behind the initial relief. “I’m so happy to see you, I really wanted to talk to you abou–”
“And I would love to talk to you too,” Cass interrupted, “but we’ve got a much more pressing matter.”
Asmo pivoted, taking in the snake. Cass repeated the chant to help supplement Asmo’s powers to the best of his ability. Within no time, the snake was once again docile, waiting on Asmo to make a command.
“How? When? You can summon people?” Mammon yelled. “Did you make a pact with Asmo? Is that why you ran off or somethin’?”
“No, we didn’t,” Asmo answered, appraising Cass. “Not only did you summon me, but you drew my power out in a way that Solomon has never been able to. Who exactly are you, Cass?”
---
Lucifer was pacing in front of the three of them. Cass wasn’t sure why Asmo and her were being included in this lecture when they hadn’t done anything but get swept up in Mammon’s plans. Granted, Lucifer did seem to favor collective punishment.
“Why the hell was Cerberus in your room anyways? Huh?” Mammon demanded.
“I cursed the door to prevent a certain someone from stealing any pieces to sell. Anyone who opened the door without knocking first would go to Cerberus’s room.”
“Why are you locking up that precious animal anyways?”
Cass crossed her arms, huffing as she leaned back onto the couch. Several of the brothers exchanged looks while Levi and Mammon stared in disbelief. Lucifer rubbed his temple and muttered something under his breath.
“Precious?” Diavolo asked when nobody continued.
“Yeah! He let me walk right up and pet him. When was the last time you let him out? Or gave him a treat? Or spent time with him?”
“I’ve never heard anyone describe a hellhound, much less Cerberus, as precious,” Diavolo laughed. “And he let you pet him?”
Cass withdrew slightly, wondering why they were acting like the dog was vicious. “It’s not like I was a threat to him, why would he attack me? I obviously don’t know him personally, but in mythology, isn’t he just a guard dog that prevents mortals from entering the underworld and souls from leaving?”
“That’s just mythos though,” Barbatos answered, “those stories were made up. Hellhounds have a variety of skills and duties. One of the few truths about him is that he is a guard dog, though what he guards varies.”
“Maybe you all should try being nicer to him,” Cass shrugged.
“Regardless, it seems someone kindly lent you their powers. Very fortunate you had those when you ran into Henry 1.0 again. Don’t you agree Solomon?”
“What? Someone did that? What a kind and selfless act. Truly a rarity here in the Devildom,” Solomon mused in false sincerity.
Asmo, who had been silent since he charmed the snake apart from sharing directions out of the labyrinth cleared his throat. “May Cass and I be excused? I’d like to speak with her in private.”
Everyone’s eyes were suddenly on her, mostly out of concern. “What’s he going to do kill me?” She laughed but the joke was met with silence. “One of these days, you all will find that funny.”
With that she stood up, brushing off anyone’s concerns and followed Asmo out of the room. They walked in silence for a while, making random turns before Asmo came to a stop. Cass knew he was trying to make sure nobody heard their conversation while also making sure they were in a hallway so she felt like she could escape.
Asmo took a step towards her after a moment, lifting a hand. Cass flinched, withdrawing at the action. His hand tensed before falling back to his side. She crossed her arms, trying to calm down. While she did feel safer knowing she still had Solomon’s powers and could stop him from doing anything, she didn’t want to do that.
Even when she’d summoned him and helped when he’d charmed Henry 1.0, Cass couldn’t help thinking about what he’d said earlier. I’m not going to let that happen, you’re not going to control me. It was the same sentiment Mammon had expressed after they made a pact. Just because may be in control of my body doesn’t mean you own my mind.
“Simeon wondered how I would react if I couldn’t charm someone,” Asmo finally spoke. “I panicked, that’s what happened. You said that was an ugly side of me, but it’s not a side of me. That is me.” His voice fell into a whisper, so quiet she almost missed the next part. “I’m ugly. I’ve been ugly since I fell.”
“No one is one thing and one thing only. Yeah, that was you earlier, you’re right, but that’s not all you are. Just like Satan is so much more than his wrath. It’s a disservice to yourself to think that.”
“I could have hurt you. I kept thinking, if I can’t charm her, there might be others I can’t charm. And if I can’t charm people, they’ll leave me when they see what I really am.”
“Then let them.”
“I can’t live like that, abandoned, alone,” Asmo said, his eyes glassy.
“You won’t be.”
Asmo didn’t answer. He was looking off to the side, as if considering Cass’s words and how to respond. She was finally able to take in his appearance. At first glance, it was likely nobody would notice something was wrong. But the little details that were so important to him were missing. A piece of hair or two in the wrong place, make up not as perfect, wrinkles on his jacket.
“There are a few things I want to say, and I don’t want to be interrupted. Is that okay?” The question was met with another long silence before Asmo nodded.
“I know that whatever happened wasn’t something you could control. It’d be hypocritical of me to hate you for that since I’ve been threatened or attacked by all of your brothers when their sin takes over. That doesn’t mean I have to be okay with it and brush it off though.
“I know you’re a demon and think that because I’m human you can just do whatever. But I’m not letting anyone, demon or not, push me around. You said you didn’t want to be controlled. Neither do I. I can respect your wish if you can respect mine.
“I’m also sorry.” Asmo’s head snapped up at the words. “What I said hurt you, regardless of what I meant, and you had a natural reaction. I don’t want to be the type of person that hurts people, especially people I care about.
“I don’t know what you thought I meant when I said that people aren’t worthy of love because of their looks. But I didn’t mean that you weren’t worthy of love. Anyone who doesn’t love you is a fool, Asmo. That may be because you are incredibly beautiful, but who you are isn’t what you look like.
“Who you are is inside of you, flaws and all. Even that side of you earlier, that’s part of you. Pretending it’s not or hiding that is only going to make it harder for you to love yourself and accept love given to you. But you deserve to be loved and are worthy of that, sin and all. Don’t let anyone make you believe differently.”
“Nobody could love who I was earlier, not even me.”
“We don’t have to love every part of someone to love them, not even ourselves.”
She stayed silent, not sure where to go from here. Regardless of what she said, the only person that could change his mind was him. She just hoped she could help him on his way.
“When you’re ready, if you’re ever ready,” Asmo finally spoke. “I want to make a pact with you.”
“What?”
“I've known Solomon for millennia and I’m not sure he sees me the way you do. I think that’s why you were able to pull such power out of me. You said you didn’t want to control me, and I believe you.” Asmo hadn’t tried to move closer to her since the start of their conversation. Even now, he stayed outside of arms reach. “I’ll spend however long it takes proving that I’m as worthy as you think.”
“You don’t have to prove anything to me,” Cass sighed.
“I know, but I have to prove it to myself.”
---
Cass stared out the window, taking a deep breath. It was surprisingly warm outside compared to how cold it’d been the last few weeks. She let the breeze blow over her, as if blowing away the stress of the day. For some reason, she wasn’t tired, even after everything that had happened.
Asmo had gone to bed after their talk. He seemed lighter when he’d turned to leave. Before he could, Cass had wrapped her arms around him. The demon stiffened for a moment, before placing his hands on top of hers. He glanced over his shoulder at her. She returned the gentle smile before letting him go. One day, they might both be ready to make a pact.
“I think he might.”
Almost out of sight, tucked away in the garden, she saw Lucifer and Diavolo. Their voices were so faint, it’s possible they’d been talking since she sat down. Diavolo, not surprisingly, was smiling. His smiles always seemed more genuine when he was away from the public eye, especially around Lucifer.
“It’s good though, isn’t it? From what I can tell, Cass and your brothers seem to be form real bonds. This was the goal from the beginning.”
“It should be. They trust her and are changing because of it. Yet, there’s something about her that’s not letting me put aside my concerns. What if they get hurt again?”
Diavolo didn’t respond to his question. Cass wondered the same thing. She was only here for a year, really. Lucifer had certainly reminded her of that. The three brothers she had pacts with didn’t have pacts with other humans. What would happen when she left if she couldn’t summon them?
“If she and Asmo do make a pact, that’ll be four in a few months. An average human dropped here with no memory and yet she’s been able to win over almost half your council. It’d be difficult to make that many pacts with lower-tier demons, let alone my brothers.”
“She certainly is an enigma.”
“I can’t say I approve of your eavesdropping, Cass.”
She jumped at the Barbatos’s comment. How long had he been standing there? “Were you not listening also?”
“It’s my job to stay close to Lord Diavolo so I can best serve him.”
“Do you think there’s something else going on? A reason I was chosen for the program or why I have no memory, but have been able to make these pacts?” Cass changed the subject, knowing Barbatos wouldn’t budge.
“There may not even be a greater plan that brought you to us. Perhaps it’s not an accident either. There are things in this world that are inevitable, no matter how much we try to change time.”
Spoken like someone who had tried to change something in the past and failed. “Yesterday, Diavolo said you were running errands for the student council, but I could tell he wasn’t telling the truth. You were looking into my history, weren’t you?”
“Has anyone told you that you may be far too perceptive for your own safety?”
Cass released a breathy laugh. “Usually too nosy.” Barbatos smiled. “Were you able to find anything?”
“Why do you ask?”
“I’m afraid of the same thing Lucifer is, that they’ll get hurt. I don’t know who I was or what will happen at the end of the year, but at least knowing could help prevent that. Or lessen the pain if it is an inevitability.”

I headcannon that humans usually get to choose where the marks go when they make a pact, but MC didn't care so they just let the brothers choose. This is purely for fun, feel free not to read it or take it too seriously.
Mammon went for the back of their right hand. For one, it's a safe option and he felt kind of awkward choosing the place for his own pact mark.
Later, it turned out to be perfect. He's their right-hand demon, always within arm's reach. Anywhere they go together, he holds that hand, and whenever MC meets someone new, they shake hands, that person knows right away that they're his human, and he's their demon.
Leviathan followed the same logic at first, and put his on their left forearm, just under their elbow, because where else would he put it?! He's never picked a pact mark before!
In the end, he likes it because it's not always on display, or always hidden. MC shows it off just enough to assure him that they're proud to have a pact with him, and hides it enough so he's not overwhelmed with the reality that he is theirs, and they are his.
When they dress up, they make sure not to cover their arms, and wear his mark with pride, but it's the quiet moments in his room, when they roll up their sleeve and let him trace the mark with his fingers, or trace it with his tail, that he really likes.
Beelzebub had trouble with picking his place. He's never made a pact before, let alone picked where it's been displayed.
He had no real reason for choosing their right shoulder blade, other than a feeling that that's where it needed to be. MC knows though, it's because of his twin. They knew where Belphie's pact mark would go, directly on their other shoulder.
Twin demons, guarding their human's back.
Asmodeus was a cheeky menace, as soon as he was given the choice, he smacked the mark right on MC's inner thigh. He thought it might fluster the little human, but as it turned out, MC is long past the point of flustering.
That choice turned out to be to Asmo's detriment as MC strategically chose how they displayed it. Hot day? They're wearing shorts and his mark is on clear display, sitting nestled on their soft skin, where no one, not even he can touch.
MC's learned to tug at that mark every now and again, granting him the most delicious teasing grin.
The devildom's greatest tease has met his match.
Satan's choice was a hard one, by the time he agreed to a pact, truly chose MC for a pact, he knew they were going to be someone he cared for deeply.
It took him days to decide where that mark would sit, MC never rushed him, or offered to make the choice for him. That patience was something he admired in someone he knows to have a firecracker of a temper.
In the end, he placed the mark on their collarbone, just above where their heartbeat thrums with life.
He wants them to remember that no matter his wrath, he does have a heart, and he'll always protect theirs.
MC often reaches for the brand when heartache strikes, reminding themselves of their wrathful demon, with a heart of gold.
Belphegor loved Beel's choice and didn't hesitate to put his brand on the opposite shoulder blade.
He falls asleep with his head resting on one of those marks at least twice a week, pinning MC beneath him, willing or otherwise. Any attempted to wake him up just has him switching to the other shoulder and clinging to them tighter.
He loves that a permanent mark of his twin is close enough that he can feel anytime MC summons Beel, and vice versa.
Anytime MC summons one, there's a 50/50 chance that both will come, called by each other's magic.
When the time came for Lucifer to make his choice, MC was sure he wouldn't surprise them, but unbeknownst to them, Lucifer had no intention of making the choice completely by himself.
He's seen them, wearing each and every pact with pride, pride to rival his own, but any human with sense would be proud of forging pacts with 6 of the seven lords of the underworld.
MC is more than proud of the pacts, they're proud to be part of the family. They give everything to that family, time, effort, love, all of it dedicated to those they call family.
In the end, MC had already made the choice a very long time ago, and lifted their chin, breath catching as Lucifer's palm encompassed their throat, placing their life, their breath, in his very hands.
The demon beamed his pride as he painted their throat with his brand, never to be hidden, never to be taken away.
That final mark symbolised more than a pact with the avatar of pride.
It stood for the completion of a family long left lacking their final piece.

Barbatos and Solomon's first meeting and a theory of mine, aka: what if Solomon summoned Barbatos to save his friend?
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR SWD S3 AND NB S1 AHEAD
Okay, so we've had pieces of info about their first meeting for a while now, but after collecting everything I could on these two to make my recent posts I was able to put them together and here it is.
First, there are the two times the story was briefly told in Obey Me! SWD, this one being from lesson 53-16 when Asmo discusses his first meeting with Solomon and then asks Barbatos about his:
And this next one being from lesson 49-A when Asmo asks about it for the first time and Solomon doesn't want to tell him:
And we learn what happened in the aftermath from Thirteen when she tells us about it in Obey Me! NB lesson 11-10:
So Solomon risked his life to summon Barbatos using an incantation and was left on the brink of death because of it, all because he "desperately needed his powers to control time", and after their interaction and whatever happened there, Barbatos took him to the Fountain of Knowledge and declared him the new protector of it.
By the way, they didn't make a pact during their first meeting but later on instead, or at least that's what I got from Barbatos saying:
I'm saying this because "eventually" is vague enough to be open to interpretation and could mean that they did make a pact during their first meeting and that it only took some bargaining for Barbatos to agree. But the way I saw it was that the pact was made later on.
So, the questions left unanswered from this are:
1 ) What made Solomon want to control time badly enough for him to seriously risk his life for it?
2 ) Did Barbatos help Solomon by using his powers to control time like he wanted him to?
Because it never says that Barbatos agreed to Solomon's "desperate need", and it doesn't say why Solomon was so desperate for it in the first place, only telling us that there was something he wanted enough to risk death for it.
But it does answer WHY later.
At first I thought we didn't have more info on their first meeting, but then I remembered this little moment from Obey Me! NB ( that I added to my post afterward and here's the screenshot from the post because I was too lazy to open the game and go to the lesson again ):
So Solomon almost died summoning Barbatos because he desperately needed his powers to control time after causing serious destruction to the Human World with his...?
Well, maybe, the passage does say that Barbatos appeared before him and not that he was purposely summoned by him, but it could be that the book is just depicting what people at the time thought happened, since it makes it sound like that was their first meeting when Barbatos himself said that Solomon summoning him was how they first met.
Anyway, let's assume I'm right and that's what happened and the reason why Solomon needed Barbatos was to fix the damage he did to the Human World unintentionally.
THE MAIN THEORY: Solomon summoned Barbatos to save his childhood friend's life, who was affected by Solomon's powers going out of control.
This is something that Solomon tells us in Obey Me! NB lesson 14-16, that he had a friend while he was locked up in the basement as a kid. He tells us the story of how they met and says that from then on the friend started visiting him regularly and that they would chat through the bars of the window basement and that's how their interactions went for however long. But then while telling us about them he suddenly stops:
And thus this became my current theory.
Solomon's powers, which have always vastly surpassed your usual human's, start getting out of control and becomes a threat to the world, endangering one of his loved ones ( much like MC's in S2 with Lucifer ). And desperate to save their life and out of what to do, he summons a demon he knows can control time to help him.
Judging by how Solomon struggles to tell the story to MC though, we can assume that it didn't end well.
Maybe Barbatos refused to save his friend/had no way to do it ( he can only travel through timelines and not actually go back and change the one where he is ) and Solomon had to accept the fact that they were dying and say goodbye and this was the moment when he made this promise to them to become a good sorcerer, learn how to control his powers and protect humanity.
Or maybe Barbatos did try to save them/told Solomon how to do it but it ended badly somehow and that's what brings Solomon pain when he tries to talk about it.
#I could've stopped at “maybe he summoned him to fix the damage he did to humanity” but hey-- why not go further?#we'll only know the answer when Solomon or Barbatos finally tell us the complete story#I want nb season 3 to come out so bad#obey me nightbringer#obey me shall we date#omnb#omswd#omswd lesson 53#omswd lesson 49#omnb lesson 14#omnb lesson 16#obey me solomon#obey me barbatos#obey me nightbringer spoilers#obey me#//the thoughts#om sol#om barb#om purgatory hall#om demon lord's castle#☙ no creativity for names ✾

omg okay this was originally going to be an ask about what you think the ring of wisdom may look like because i wanted to try and hunt something down that was similar to buy (mc has both the ring of light and ring of wisdom by season three I think, and i own the ring of light irl)
BUT THEN i went on the wiki and found out it's made of brass and iron, and also learned that u treasure created the ring of light look since it never appeared in canon (i can dream of them making the other half but unlikely as Solomon is a side character, sad)
AND THEN i was reminded that Michael gave the ring of wisdom to solomon so he could control demons more easily and not have the giant strain. But why give it to him? Why this specific sorcerer? Why aid in that?
So now I'm in a rabbit hole of wondering WHEN solomon got the ring. And if it was after the brothers fell, did Michael do it on purpose? Was he aiming for solomon to become powerful enough to even control the seven of the brothers? AND HOW DID HE FIND SOLOMON AT ALL? I have so many questions now
- ✨ anon
Hmm well if I remember correctly, Solomon gives MC a ring when they become a full fledged sorcerer, but I didn't think it was the Ring of Wisdom that he gave them? Perhaps I misinterpreted that part??
(Side note, I'm almost glad they aren't like to make Solomon's Ring of Wisdom just because OH THE TEMPTATION.)
Anyway, the question is how the heck did Solomon end up with that ring in the first place??
Oh, friend. You have unlocked a CC Solomon Theory because I've thought about this a lot.
I'm going to put it under a read more because of OG and Nightbringer spoilers!
We know almost nothing about the Ring of Wisdom. I can't remember if it's been mentioned in Nightbringer at all. And there may be more instances of it in OG that I'm not remembering. But here are two of the relevant parts:
This is from Lesson 2-2 of OG. He says he used it to create pacts with the 72 demons. Now, it's obvious that Asmo is one of those 72 demons, which means Solomon wouldn't be able to make a pact with him until after Lucifer & co fell. However, I don't think that means that Solomon didn't start making all his pacts before they fell.
This is from Lesson 29-5 in OG. And he says that Michael gave him the ring at a point in his life when he was lost, etc.
What does that mean? Is that before or after Solomon met Barbatos?
Now, there is also a part in Nightbringer where Solomon says that he met a friend back when he was locked up in the basement. He says that his new friend's family came to get them, but that they would come back from time to time and talk to him. He promise the friend he would be a good sorcerer so he could protect humanity.
What if that was Michael?
If it was, maybe Michael gave him the Ring of Wisdom around this time. Maybe Michael did it because he wanted to help Solomon protect humanity.
But this is also the story Solomon couldn't tell MC entirely. He stops part way and says he doesn't have the courage. Which means something else happened then, too. Probably something bad.
So I dunno, this is just a theory. But it could explain why Michael gave Solomon the ring to begin with. If it happened before the brothers fell, his motivation could have purely been to help Solomon protect humanity.
Of course, it's possible that wasn't Michael at all and was actually someone else. In which case we would be back to square one with the question of why Michael gave Solomon the ring.
It would be rather sinister if Michael gave it to Solomon after the brothers fell for the sole purpose of Solomon being able to control them.
It makes sense that Michael would need a human for this because he can't make pacts with the demons himself. But maybe Solomon didn't want to do what Michael wanted him to do and therefore decided to do his own thing instead. He only has a pact with one of the brothers, so he's not exactly going through with that idea.
If Michael is Nightbringer, this could explain why Solomon said that Nightbringer made him who he is. At the same time, it's pretty clear from Solomon's conversation with Nightbringer that he disagrees with Nightbringer and is kinda defiant.
But if Michael is Nightbringer and he's always wanted to control the brothers, that could explain why Nightbringer wanted MC to make pacts with all of them. Perhaps by creating pacts with the brothers in the past, MC has strengthened their pacts with the brothers in the future, too. That could make it easier for MC to control them, especially to control them all at once.
Which is kinda the point of the Ring of Wisdom. As you said, it's meant to allow someone to control multiple demons without it being as draining on the body.
Unfortunately, I still feel like I don't have enough evidence for any of these theories to say for sure that I think they're right. I kinda always thought Solomon's friend was Michael because to me that seems like the scenario that makes the most sense and fits with the Ring of Wisdom situation.
But in the end, I'm hoping they will reveal more about this part of the backstory. Even if I'm totally wrong, I would still very much like to know why Michael gave Solomon the Ring of Wisdom. Because that feels like a really big deal and so far all they've done is just kinda mention it briefly.
ANYWAY well you see I spend too much time thinking about this stuff. But I also have many questions! Here's hoping we get the answers soon!
#like if they wanna give us more questions that's fine#but they gotta at least answer some of these from freakin' lesson 2 of the OG#because we have been waiting LONG ENOUGH#obey me#obey me nightbringer#obey me solomon#obey me michael#obey me spoilers#✨ anon#misc answers

Hello!! I hope you’re doing well! I was wondering if you could write about touch starved MC x Satan (it’s your choice if you wish to include more brothers!)? I’m not sure if the shivering and tingly effect on the reader is due to being touch starved. So it might be sweet to see Satan figure out how they’re not afraid of him, just sensitive to soft or sudden touches, that’s all! (You could add in that MC hasn’t had their first kiss yet 🤭)
✨First Obey me Request✨
Satan X Touch Starved Innocent MC
Warning
NSFW (a little suggestive nothing too crazy)
Satan
All the brothers thought you were too innocent for the devildom and they thought you will get killed here easily but to their surprise you managed to make pacts with all of them
Satan was surprised you managed to make a pact with Lucifer, you really are one little clever human
He really adored your personality and really wanted to have you just for himself
always looking to get your attention but you usually cut it off before he gets to touch you or even hold you
And now that he really think about it you never liked to hug or hold hands with anyone and whenever Asmo surprise hug you or grab you you just struggle and run away covering your face
Satan was determined to have you and his first thought was to make you comfortable near him
He invited you to spend time in his room saying he wants to discuss a book with you
You arrived at his room and he opened the door, you went straight to his bed and put some books on the floor to make space for yourself to sit down
Satan was studying your every move looking for any signs of discomfort but there were none
You looked perfectly comfortable and happier than usual having this stupid smile on your face
"I wonder what made you so happy MC" Satan asked
You immediately turn red and look away trying to think of an excuse but before you could say anything
His hand was on your chin guiding your eyes to his green orbs
He flet you shudder upon contact and he was happy you didn't push him off yet, he broke the silence saying
"Tell me the truth kitten don't lie to me"
He moved his hand to tuck your hair behind your ear and the words just couldn't come out of your mouth you were shivering none stop every time his hand moved an inch
"I- i love spending time with you Satan" you stutter out
He was happy you said that but that's not the answer he is looking for
"Then why do you push me away when i try and touch you? Are you that afraid of me?" He asked now sitting on the bed near you
"I am not afraid of you Satan... i want you to hold me i am just not used to it that's all" your voice was close to a whisper
And suddenly it hit him you where touch starved never really had an intimate moment with anyone other than him right now
"Answer me this MC... are you comfortable with me touching you like this?" He said getting his face close to yours
"Of course! ...I mean if you want to" you said loosing eye contact
He got close to your ear and you shudder at the feeling of his hot breath on your ear and neck he whispered
"That's the answer i was looking for"
In a split second you felt his soft lips on yours and your eyes shot wide open
You broke the contact and looked away embarrassed on so many levels
"What's wrong kitten want me to stop?" Satan asked
"No i- don't really know how to k- kiss" you said
Satan laid you back on his bed and got on top of you
"First kiss huh?" He asked
You nodded
"Don't be shy just follow my lead and don't be afraid honestly i don't care if you don't know how to kiss"
He said gently rubbing your hips and sides making you feel all kinds of things in your body
He continued getting closer to your face
"just the thought of your lips on mine makes my brain go blank"
You finally look at him realizing he is now in his demon form
You waste no time to grab him by his tie and pull him closer for another kiss.

a/n: so this is totally unrelated to the story and obey me entirely but if any of you are bsd enjoyers did y’all read chapter 107?? y’all almost didn’t get a new chapter of this story bc of that damn chapter. it made me want to jump off the nearest 50ft building. I wanted to die after reading that fr, so bc asagri made me cry we’re getting double angst for this chapter. anyway I’m done with my rant now enjoy!
oh and p.s. I’m putting which perspective you’re reading as since some found it confusing last chapter. the original is og MC, and the wrathful human is wrath! MC just in case it’s confusing!
warnings: slightly longer chapter, lesson 16 spoilers, descriptions of dying, choking, mentions of blood, abuse of pacts (slightly)
a success for one side
The perspective of the original
“Lucifer was there really no other way we could have done that?” Levi asked, struggling to get up off the ground. His whole body ached and blood dripped from his mouth pooling onto the planetarium ground in heavy amounts.
“Levi close yer mouth, you're gonna lose more blood if ya keep it open” Mammon said, making his way over to his younger brother.
“Yeah there could have been a different way of doing this, we’re not all masochists, like you Lucifer” Satan spat. Blood then fell from his nose onto his shirt and he cursed in response.
“In my defense I never agreed to this” Asmo yelled. “My whole body is covered in bruises and blood Lucifer! I have a photoshoot on Monday!”
“Belphie’s out cold” Beel said, moving closer to his twin ignoring the blood falling from his face.
“That’s no surprise, Mc really did a number on him. I wouldn't be surprised if he was out for a few hours because of it.” Satan sighed.
“I’ll take him to your room, Beel.” Lucifer said, walking over to pick up the youngest.
“Lucifer ya look like you're gonna fall over” Mammon said watching the oldest slowly walk over to their younger brother.
“I’m fine,” He stated. “For now we should focus on cleaning ourselves up and heading after Mc”
“I doubt Mc wants to see us right now…” Levi sighed.
“Levi, close your mouth” Mammon yelled as blood began to fall on him.
“Ahh!” Levi screamed.
Mammon sighed and helped Levi and the rest of his brothers get up after Lucifer left with Belphie. If he’s being honest he doesn’t remember much of what happened due to blacking out halfway through your wrath episode. After you were done he and his brothers each woke up laying on the floor with pools of blood surrounding them.
He honestly didn’t like Lucifer’s plan of taunting you into a pact, but sacrifices had to be made if they wanted you to stay here.
You needed to stay here.
More often then he and his brothers would like to admit they really did miss their Mc. However they did love and enjoy your company just as much. Their only wish was that their Mc was just like you.
Interacting and having fun with you was always bittersweet in a sense since it reminded them of a time before the incident, a happier time before everything went downhill.
If only you could have forgiven them.
It didn’t matter how much they did miss their own Mc, because they were going to keep you here in their place. You reminded them of the personality they were used to, it was as if this other version of you currently with them had completely forgotten about the incident and moved on with their life.
Sure you had a breakdown or two about your feelings but they sincerely apologized about what happened and you forgave them, causing them to finally be able to move on as well.
They all believed everything was going great, after all you never complained or spoke about anything being wrong with them so they were blind to the truth. You went along with everything and anything they did which made them desire your attention and affection more. These demons were so touch starved for you to the point of it becoming a problem.
However they weren’t going to lie, seeing you that upset really did hurt them. Most of them disagreed with Lucifer’s first plan to make a pact with you, and the second plan made the brothers split in half. The third and last plan was the one they currently just carried out.
It was because Lucifer had the bright idea to upset you so much that you’d finally be willing to make a pact with him for your enjoyment. Belphie also making a pact with you was a bonus, after all the youngest finally got what he wanted, even if it did cost him.
As Mammon finally finished cleaning up Levi and a few more of his brothers he couldn’t help but wonder where you were heading off too. You mentioned you had something to do after you dealt with them, he just couldn’t remember what it was…
After leaving the House of Lamentation you stormed in the direction of the Demon Lord's Castle, with the intent of speaking to the prince and his butler. Nothing but pure rage filled your thoughts as you clenched your bloody fists. You were going to demand them to send you back to your timeline no matter what.
As you reached the door to the castle you prepared to knock, however before you even got the chance the door opened revealing a smiling Barbatos on the other side.
“Good evening Mc, what brings you here? If I’m not mistaken I don’t remember arranging for you to come over.”
“I need to speak with Diavolo.” You simply stated, right now you were not in the mood to make small talk with the butler.
“Ah well we should get you cleaned up first and foremost you appear to be bleeding” Barbatos said reaching for your hand.
Reluctantly you let him take it and examine the condition of your bloodied hands and arms. “Don’t worry about it, it's not my blood anyway.” You said pulling away.
Barbatos’ eyes widened just the slightest as he gave you a surprised look before trying to speak again, only to get cut off by the prince himself.
“Mc are you okay? You’re not hurt, are you?” Diavolo asked, slightly frantically as he made his way over to you pushing his butler aside in the process.
“Like I said previously I’m fine. I’m not the one you should be asking that question too anyway”
Diavolo looked confused then spoke. “What do you mean? Did you happen to get into a fight with some demons? Where are the brothers..?”
“At the House of Lamentation. Listen I didn’t come here to talk about them I came here to ask for help Dia”
“Of course Mc, but first I need to ask, what’s wrong? Are you in any danger of some sorts, if you are I assure you Barbatos and I can take care of it”
You sighed before speaking. How were you to go about telling the demon prince himself that you were from a different timeline? Your Barbatos told you not to mention that detail at all costs because it could somehow affect the future, however you didn’t know how much longer you could stay in a place like this. This timeline was beginning to bring out parts of yourself you tried so hard to keep hidden, who knows what else it could cause you to do if you stayed here any longer…
“I am not your Mc.” You stated.
Diavolo and Barbatos shared a confused glance at each other before you continued.
“I’m from a different timeline where different events have occurred, but somehow I got switched with your Mc from this timeline. I need your help to get back before I cause anymore damage here then I already have.”
It was silent for a few seconds, and the two who were standing in front of you stared at you with blank faces. Seconds soon turned into minutes and you began to get worried since neither of them showed any signs of responding.
Anxious now you prepared to defend your words until Diavolo smiled and walked towards you, with Barbatos soon following behind.
“Oh Mc, don’t worry I believe you, after all I could tell right away that you weren’t from here!” Diavolo laughed.
“Is that so…?” You said awkwardly.
“Of course! You’re much nicer and more understanding than our Mc. Your personality sticks out like a sore thumb in comparison. And it’s a bit suspicious when I get glares and eye rolls one day and a hug and nickname the next. No human I’ve met changes personalities that fast.”
“Ah I see…so then I take it you’ll help me get back?”
“Oh I think you misunderstand, I never said that.” Diavolo smiled.
“What?” You replied, taking a small step back.
“See, with you here the exchange program is producing wonderful results! Better than I expected actually. Well that and everyone here seems to enjoy your presence, including me. So you wouldn’t want to leave us so soon now, would you?” Diavolo said, invading your personal space. The demon prince was speaking with such a friendly tone it was as if you were having tea with him and joking around.
“I have to go home, I need to go home. Please believe me you all are wonderful but this isn’t where I belong. I feel suffocated here, and to be frank I don’t feel the same way I feel about my demons when I’m with you all.”
Diavolo frowned and sighed. “It’s okay, you’ll feel the same in due time, after all we’re all very alike right?”
Your eyebrows furrowed and you glared back at him. “No I won’t. I refuse to stay here because you don’t have a good relationship with your Mc. You need to figure out what the fuck you did wrong and fix it.”
“Don’t drag me here as a replacement to fix all your problems. Because if you do that then you are just like them. You have no concern for our feelings whatsoever.” You spat.
Barbatos then returned your glare and made his way towards you. “I understand you’re upset but I would appreciate it if you didn’t speak to the young master in such a manner. Don’t forget your place Mc.”
“That’s enough Barbatos.” Diavolo said, putting his hand up.
“If Mc won’t comply then we’ll just take them by force.”
“No you won-“
“Please don’t make this any more difficult than it has to be Mc.” Diavolo said, and that was the last thing you heard before blacking out.
_____
The perspective of a wrathful human
You were on top of Belphegor on the floor as he weakly tried to pry your hands from his throat. The demon in front of you was hanging onto what little conscience he had left as he watched your face morph into a smile.
“How does it feel to have your throat crushed by someone you so dearly placed your trust in?”
Belphegor let out a choked noise in response.
“Does it hurt? Finding it hard to breathe? I’m sure it must be very unpleasant” you said, then proceeded to lean down applying more pressure onto his throat.
Belphegor began to bleed from his mouth as you laughed. You kept spitting out nonsense about killing him as he tried to get you off, so in the process you proceeded to get his blood all over your arms.
This scene in general didn’t look too pleasant from afar, so you can believe the brothers utter shock when they busted through the planetarium doors frantic, at the sound of choking and laughing.
At first they feared the worst and thought it to be you choking and being killed again, however nothing could have prepared them upon seeing you bloodied and on top of the youngest brother.
Belphie looked utterly horrible. His complexion was paler than usual and the corners of his mouth began to turn purple and blue accompanied by red blood falling from the side.
When he heard his brothers enter the room his head instantly turned to face them and he unconsciously reached out for them.
After a second of silence due to trying to process the situation Lucifer and Beel were soon darting towards your direction faster than you had ever seen them. In seconds flat they were ripping you off of the youngest who was still out if it.
“Mc what in the Devildom is wrong with you?” Lucifer yelled, grabbing tightly onto one of your arms. He tried his best not to hurt you, but seeing his brother being strangled by you really set him off.
“Mc stop it now” Beel said, slightly raising his voice as he grabbed your other arm. He didn’t want to see you two fight, it broke his heart. The two people he cared about the most were going at it again, he couldn’t lose Belphie, but he didn’t want to let his temper get the best of him and end up hurting you too.
“Get off of me you damn demons” you screamed as they held you up.
“Mc calm down.” Lucifer said, grabbing your arm tighter than before.
“Shut up! I’m going to kill him, he deserves it”
“Mc stop!” Asmo yelled from afar.
“No, you don’t know what it's like, any of you!”
“What in the Devildom are you going on about Mc?” Lucifer said, at this point he was soon reaching a breaking point with you and this tantrum.
“You don’t know what it feels like to be killed do you?”
“To have your throat crushed. Or to feel as if your lungs are on fire from the lack of oxygen in your system. After that is the horrible headache and throbbing pain that consumes your head and your thinking. In a state of panic like that you then feel your limbs become limp as you try and free yourself. However due to the lack of strength you can’t do anything except deal with what fate has in store for you.”
“Dying is absolutely terrifying”
“However what makes everything even worse is the fact that afterwards I have to live in the same house with the same demon who put me through all of that and pretend everything is just fine. When in fact everything is just worse”
Lucifer and Beel’s grip on you had losend the slightest as they watched you squirm. Upon hearing your words they swallowed hard, trying to come up with some type of response, but before any of them could continue you began to speak again.
“If I kill him it will all be over.”
“What will killing Belphie accomplish, Mc.” Beel asked, then tightened his grip on your arm.
“Everything! All the nightmares will finally go away, all the panic attacks and breakdowns will stop. And maybe, just maybe I can have a normal conversation with other demons without my body being terrified for my life. Maybe I can be touched by a demon and not have my skin feel as if it will burn itself. Everything will be better once he’s gone” you screamed, trying your best to get free from the two brothers' hold.
The brothers stared at you in silence as they took in the severity of your words. Had you really suffered this much without them knowing? Had their Mc gone through this as well…? How long before their Mc got over it?
Did they ever get over it? How did their Mc feel about the whole situation, they never got to talk about it after all.
How many nights did they wake up in a cold sweat with tears streaming down their face, or how many nights did they stay up because they couldn’t sleep due to the nightmares?
You went through all this trauma by yourself without any of them being there to comfort you, no wonder you were upset.
However while the brothers were all thinking deeply about your words you were on an adrenaline high with no signs of coming down soon.
“Let go of me and stay out of the way. All six if you” you shouted.
The tone was that of a command, and no later than a second you were free and heading back to the youngest as fast as you could.
Lucifer cursed himself for letting his guard down, their whole purpose was to make sure you didn’t use the pacts but that plan failed.
As you jumped back onto Belphegor you punched him in the face causing blood to spill out the other side of his mouth.
“Mc stop please, don’t hurt Belphie” Beel yelled, trying his best to break free from the pact.
It was no use because his words fell on deaf ears. You were too busy beating the shit out of the demon you were on top of.
Belphie accepted what you were doing with an occasional grunt here and there as you continued to punch his face. He did feel bad, he felt horrible honestly, but if this made you feel better then he was willing to let you get all your anger out. After all he deserved it, is what he believed.
As the youngest brothers face continued to get bloodied, some of his brothers looked away while others tried their best to speak to you, Beel was the only one who was struggling to break free so that he could save Belphegor.
“Mc…” you faintly heard from the demon in front of you.
“What do you want? Don’t tell me you’re giving up already, I’m not done with you yet.”
“Please hear me out really quick, i promise it’ll be fast” he spoke dryly.
You gave him another punch before stopping for a brief moment. “Well get on with it”
Belphegor cleared his throat and tried to sit up the best he could to look you in the eyes. Sighing he then spoke.
“I understand it’s very selfish of me to tell you something like this, but I really want you to hear me out.”
You raised your eyebrows and then he continued.
“Mc I’m so sorry. Truly I really am, I was wrong about humans, I was wrong about everything. After Lilith’s death I was filled with so much anger towards humans. However I realize now that I shouldn’t have taken it out on you because you were only trying to help.”
“I never apologized to you after because I was too scared of what you would say. I was too scared you’d never forgive me so I swept it under the rug and tried to pretend it never happened. I’m just a damn coward. Only now did I realize my brothers and I didn’t ask how you felt. We just went on with life leaving you to deal with all the trauma.”
“I apologize because you should have never had to go through an event as traumatic as dying. I didn’t realize all those things you dealt with were because of me so I want you to know I’ll try my best to fix them now, if you’ll let me. If not then I accept whatever punishment you have in mind. “
“I just want you to know from the bottom of my heart I really am truly sorry. I love you so much Mc and if you forgive me then great, however I don’t expect you to. It’s selfish of me to ask you to make that decision, so I promise to deal with whatever you want to do, if it’ll make you happy”
You felt tears fall from your eyes onto the floor making it a darker color than it previously was. However you couldn’t figure out why you were crying. How long has it been since you actually cried like this?
You hit Belphie again as tears continued to fall, but this time your hits were much lighter and softer so they didn’t actually hurt the seventh born.
“Mc, I-“
“Shut up!”
You screamed. You didn’t want to hear him right now, you didn’t want to face the fact that an apology such as that one actually was sincere and filled with emotion, unlike the halfhearted apologies your demons gave you.
You now had to come to terms with the fact that you had finally gotten an apology from the heart like you had wanted. To you it didn't matter if they were your demons or not, all that matters was that Belphegor had finally apologized.
Belphie opened his arms and smiled, waiting patiently for a hug. Your eyes went wide as you stared at him for a moment, and after what felt like forever you slowly inched closer to him,
Hesitantly you leaned forward slowly into the hug, and once you hit his chest he engulfed you with his arms. You freaked out for a second but he reassured you that he was happy you chose to hug him.
“Mc thank you for trusting me like this.” Belphie said.
You held your head low and sighed before speaking.
“Just because I let you touch me doesn’t mean everything is magically better, you demons are so naive.”
Next part
a/n: so how are we finding about this chapter? there are a few things I do want to ask if you did notice, and a couple questions I have for y’all, you can think about these or just answer in the comments! i just want to understand what y’all think is all!
- first off, what do you think og MC did to the brothers to leave them that beat up?
- can you find the lesson 16 dialogue in the second part of this chapter?
- did you notice how wrath! MC was just happy with heartfelt apology? It didn’t matter if it was from their demons or the ones in the og timeline, unlike the og MC who didn’t quite feel filled with the other brothers apology.
- and lastly would you personally, forgive Belphie after an apology like that?
thanks for reading! <3

It would be hilarious if MC was part of a septet, but never mentioned that they and their six siblings were all identical when inviting the brothers to meet their family in the human world.
When the brothers arrive, all they see is a horde of MCs, and the siblings don't change back into their normal clothes until MC has been picked out of the group.
LMAO this is so chaotic I love it 💀 reader is gender neutral!
We’re they all going insane?
When the brothers took your invitation to finally meet your parents and siblings, it was fair to say that they were both ecstatic and anxious. Lucifer was more tense than usual, Mammon tried to play it cool even though he would stumble every time the thought crossed his mind, Levi refused to leave his room to attempt to the use this time to mentally prepare himself as well as planning what anime merch he was getting and so on- the gist was that the house was in more disarray than before.
But they somehow made it to your home in one piece, gathering in front of your door preparing to knock when you already opened the door. Which would have been fine-
Until they glanced behind you and saw another you.
It was a moment of silence before Mammon let out a laugh, “Good one, MC! Ya been hanging around Solomon too much that you’re starting to act like him, cause this is something that he’ll totally do!”
His laugh died off when another “you” walk up to the door. And then another. And another.
It wasn’t until there was seven of you that crowded the entrance, all with that same familiar smile that they know and love.
The group just stared back with a frozen smile.
“…Huh?”
They remember you saying that you had siblings, but never that you were all identical!
And then the usual chaos commenced in trying to find which one was you.
Satan already pulled out his magnifying glass, setting up a mock interrogation room in the kitchen. Asmo was loving every second of this, already planning each look he was going to try on who and double checking his measurements (in which this just made it easier for him- now he can try all of the outfits he had planned for you and save some time!). Beel began to lift everyone up one by one while Belphie closely inspected them.
Levi tried to calm himself from getting overwhelmed at the new revelation and finally worked up some courage to find his Henry until he was faced with two of you smiling at him- he overloaded and ran to the nearest corner, not knowing whether to consider this a dream or a nightmare.
Lucifer just stared as everything unfolded, feeling a headache coming on. He pinched the bridge of his nose, biting back a sigh while Mammon was…oddly quiet. He glanced at his brother from the corner of his eye, who had a strange focused look on him.
He really didn’t want to know what Mammon was planning, but whatever it was, even he found himself getting curious with how laser-focused he was- especially on one twin.
“Oi Lucifer.”
He hummed, motioning for his brother to continue.
“I know how we can find MC.”
“How so?” Lucifer wasn’t expecting a sound answer of course, but he would humor him for now.
Mammon didn’t answer, only walking forward to the one being held up in Beel’s arms, who had the same concentrated expression on his face. They both shared a look and nodded.
He could feel his pact mark tingling, and from how much the sensation was growing he had no doubt in his mind.
“Ya can’t fool me- you’re our MC!”
Everyone froze, watching on as Mammon pointed at “your” chest.
“Are you sure? Pretty sure you said that about the three over there-“
“No- he’s right.” Beel brought you closer, lightly sniffing. “You still smell the same.”
With the confirmation, the other brothers began to swarm you- prodding and pulling at your cheeks while also claiming that you really are their MC.
“Well, that went quicker than I expected.” The older one spoke up. “That’s a little disappointing, I was definitely hoping to drag it out longer.”
“Still entertaining though.” Your siblings huddled in a corner, letting you and the guys get some space.
“And I can finally get out of these clothes!” One chimed in. “I might take up that guy’s offer on getting some new threads though.”
As they watched on, they couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride for you- your friends now still can’t tell the difference between all of them, but these guys were able to with little to no issue.
When you told them that you were inviting the family that you stayed with during your exchange program, they were excited. As much as you talked about them when you came back, they definitely wanted to see what the big deal was about them- while also having some fun at it.
But they understood now.
As bright of a smile they all had for you, it felt like they never really left you.
Like they were already home.

What always baffles me is when people try to argue that Satan and Mammon are the most ‚innocent‘ of the bunch when it comes to s*xual stuff. Like, bro, it is literally canon that when Lucifer and Satan switched bodies Satan and Mammon organized a big party and invited loads of Succubi which I am pretty sure is just an euphemism for an or/gy just to anger Lucifer. (AND considering Asmo went in their stead and came back VERY satisfied, I am most likely right.)
I think Beel's actually the most innocent considering he didn't know what a threesome was?
But yeah Mammon has fucked before - pretty sure it's canon that he slept with Maddi. He's also the one who Asmo took to a lot of his parties (which yeah I'm pretty sure are orgies).
Satan, I imagine has had sex - he's going through his rebellious phase, he knows a lot of people so it's surely come up at some point, his whole knowledge is power thing means he's definitely at least tried it out. But he's also one of the brothers who gets the most flustered when sex is casually brought up - eg: when Mammon says he's MC's first man (in regards to their pact together) and Satan tells him not to phrase it like that.
Overall,
Mammon's definitely someone who has fucked and slept around a lot but has never being in a romantic relationship which is why he gets so flustered with MC - he's actually in love with them and that's throwing him off. You can even notice in canon how he blushes and stutters more when talking about liking MC or even holding hands with them than he does when they're about to sleep together
Satan's probably had sex but personally I don't see it as being a priority to him, maybe it'd happen more often if he's in a sexual-romantic relationship with someone but outside of that I see it as something he'll indulge in somewhat rarely, once in a while, as a stress relief

For Historia/Christa MC it’s easy for me to see MC’s good girl facade slowly wavering after she released Belphie from the attic & Mammon, Asmo & Levi felt betrayed. Historia in AOT was looking for a heroic way to die which is why she joined the Survey Corps in the first place, & MC knew Belphie was lying since the beginning but went along, in truth she wasn’t trying win Lucifer’s respect. Post-Lesson 16 Belphie is horrified & feels more guilt after recalling how MC just calmly accepted her fate.
Female reader. Does this count as being suicidal? Imma put a warning anyway.
Warning: Suicidal? Reader, Hurt/No comfort, big sad
Lucifer
As he saw you in the grasp of his youngest brother, he wondered why you weren’t fighting back. You fought against Titans, but this is what gets you?? He needs you to fight back. You made him feel appreciated, and he grew to love you. He would not stand to lose you. That is, until he heard you say something.
“The only thing I’ve ever wanted was to die a noble death so that people remember me fondly.”
The one sentence just shattered Lucifer’s heart, and he didn’t even move when Belphegor finished the job and dropped you to the ground. This is what you had wanted. Everything you did up to this point wasn’t really for the livelihood of the Brothers, but rather so that you would be seen in a good light.
However, after the events, he realizes that he can’t do this without you. He begs Barbatos to use his power to bring you back, but it only makes the guilt worse. Every single time you bring him tea in his study, he’s reminded of what you said. So, he keeps a close eye on you to make sure you don’t do something like that again.
Mammon
He is yelling at you to fight back, and he’s yelling at Belphie to let you go. Unfortunately, you didn’t seem to even try to hear him, as you just let Belphie grasp you by the neck and lift you up. With your last breaths of air, you mustered up a sentence.
“I hope dying like this allows others to think of me with fondness”.
Mammon’s entire world came crashing down around him as he saw Belphegor drop you. He dove to catch your lifeless body, and held you in his arms as tears streamed down his face. You really wanted to leave him? The feeling of betrayal was almost too much to bear, especially while holding you.
Out of any of the brothers, he is the one most likely to respect your wish to be left dead. He argues against Lucifer’s decision to ask Barbatos to bring you back, and even offers to select a different exchange student. Every single time he sees you, all he can think of is how truly happy your eyes were as he held you on the day that you were killed.
Leviathan
Along with Mammon, he’s screaming at you to fight back and screaming at Belphie to let you go, but neither of you followed his orders. You actually used your pacts with Beel, Mammon, and Asmo to have them restrain the others from helping you. He felt absolutely distraught.
“My only goal was to die a noble death, and I hope you all remember me.”
He was angry. Henry doesn’t betray the Lord of Shadows like that, and you weren’t supposed to either. Levi was angry at you, and Belphie, and Mammon, and everyone who never did anything to help you. But most importantly, he was angry at himself.
The Avatar of Envy was in support of bringing you back. As much as it pained him, he needed you. He wanted a do-over. This time, he would make sure that you knew he loved you. He would make sure to spend more time with you. He would change himself just for you to not leave him again.
Satan
He is sitting there in shock at what is happening. He already knew something was up, since you always were so kind even though everyone gave you shit in return. He was the closest to you, and felt as though he got to know the Historia behind the Krista (so to speak). But he never expected something like this, or what you’re about to say.
“All I ever wanted was for people to see me in a good way when I die, and I hope I’ve finally achieved that if nothing else.”
Satan remained frozen as his youngest brother dropped your dead body as though it were nothing. But, the freeze only lasted a few seconds, because he immediately attacked Belphie. He was in his demon form, yelling at the Avatar of Sloth while trying to actually kill him.
As angry and upset as he was, he was against bringing you back for fear of this repeating. He doesn’t know if he could handle the pain of 1) seeing you so happy while knowing what was really going on and 2) seeing the tears in your tear ducts as your body went cold for a second time.
Asmodeus
Along with his 2nd and 3rd brothers, he is screaming at you and Belphie. He doesn’t care if it will ruin his vocal chords; for you, he would ruin his ethereal beauty. If it meant that there was even a small chance of you making it out of this unscathed, he would take it.
“This is all I’ve ever wanted: to die knowing I’ll be remembered for the good I’ve done.”
So… this was your plan all along. Mascara was running down his face as tears flowed. He felt betrayed, deceived… why didn’t you tell him anything? He could have helped you. Did your makeup and skincare sessions mean nothing to you? He poured his heart out to you, and you didn’t even bother to do the same.
He is in favor of bringing you back because you were the one person who loved him for him rather than just his physical appearance. Like the others, he feels like shit whenever he sees your smile because now he knows the real reason why you’re being so kind. He doesn’t want to even lay with you at night because he doesn’t want you to see him crying himself to sleep.
Beelzebub
You used your pact with him to make him restrain the others from helping you, so he has every right to feel angry and upset in general. He’s begging you to not do this, but you either don’t hear him or are choosing to not acknowledge him. So, he watched as Belphie asked you for your final words.
“I have but one life, and I want it to end knowing that everyone will think of me with a smile.”
The second he was released from your command was the second he raced to catch your corpse. He didn’t like how you were limp in his arms. He’s not angry, but he is in an excruciating amount of pain. He was torn because he loves both you and Belphegor.
He chooses not to vote in deciding if you should be brought back. Beel will miss you if you remain dead, but it was bound to happen at some point since you were human. However, he doesn’t know if it’s worse than the guilt and grief he would have to go through knowing the reasoning behind your kind acts.
Belphegor
He knew that you knew he was lying, but he was confused as to why you still helped him. It had him go through an entire internal conflict because of it. Besides, you were always so kind towards everyone and you didn’t show anyone any resentment, including him. So, he asked for your final words.
“My wish was to die in a way that had good memories associated with my name, and I hope my wish has been fulfilled.”
The deep breath you took before he finished you off was a happy one, and as he saw his brothers huddling around your lifeless body, he felt an entire tsunami of grief crash onto him. He really didn’t know what to do with himself, since he really never took the chance to get to know you.
When asked, he votes to bring you back, giving the final score of 4-2. But, as he saw your smile once again, his eyes went blurry with tears. He felt ashamed of his actions, but he also knew that he had no excuse for what he had done. But you were willing to forgive him; of course you were, but it’s not for the reason he wanted to be forgiven.

The Bathroom
Asmo
"There you are, MC!" I exclaim, wrapping my arms around them in a hug. "I was wondering where you went."
"Well, I didn't want to get in the middle of your argument with Belphie, so I decided to explore the house a little," they reply. "It really is quite nice."
While I believe that MC initially intended on exploring the house, the fairly strong metallic smell on them tells me that they ended up doing something else.
With a certain brother of mine.
In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't even matter. After all, I was the one to pick them up, meaning that I was the first to see them. I just wish I was also the first to kiss them.
But that's neither here nor there. They're with me now, so it's not like I can't still do something with them, if they so choose.
"Wanna see something really cool?" I ask. MC shrugs.
"Sure." I grab their hand and guide them upstairs.
"So, part of why it's taken us so long to connect with you is because Barbatos was working on creating portals to our rooms at the House of Lamentation. One's difficult enough, let alone seven."
"Not to mention the other rooms you guys like," MC adds. "Like the observatory, or the library."
"Exactly." We stop in front of one of my doors, and I wrap my free hand around the knob. Opening it reveals my private bathroom. "In my case, I still wanted to visit this particular room so that I didn't have to fight with everyone else."
"Makes sense." We step inside the bathroom, and I close the door behind me. "Nothing appears to be out of place, I don't think. Then again, it has been a while since I've been in here, so perhaps things have changed while I was gone."
"Other than me getting more products, everything's stayed pretty much the same." I walk over to one of the benches near the bathtub and sit down, gesturing for MC to join me. "So, do you mind if I ask you a couple questions?"
"About...?"
"You." I briefly pause. "Well, regarding you, anyway. What's the deal with you and Solomon? I know you're his apprentice, but he seemed a bit too comfortable around you for him to just be your teacher. Does that make sense?" MC nods their head.
"He's also my roommate." Well, I didn't expect that response. I figured MC would say that they're dating Solomon--or at least, sleeping with him. Never in a million years would I imagine the two of them living together.
"How long has that been a thing?"
"Ever since we returned to the human world after our last visit to the Devildom. I basically made him move in with me." They look a little sheepish saying that. Was there more involved to that than a simple request?
"You do know about his...curse, don't you?"
"Which one? His immortality, or his cooking?" Well, then. That answers that question. I wonder who told MC about that particular little quirk of his. The immortality, I mean. Everyone knows about his cursed cooking.
"I guess..." MC trails off. "I didn't want Solomon to feel lonely. I know that he'll probably outlive me by a long shot, but I figured that I'd at least try to form a connection with him before I died. I know he has you and the other seventy-odd demons he has a pact with, but it's not the same thing as having another human in your inner circle. Not that your relationship with him isn't meaningless or invalid or anything like that--"
"I understand, MC." I gently pat their knee. "I'm glad he has you. You're one of the sweetest people I've ever known."
There it is again.
The scent from earlier.
It was pretty faint the first time, but now that I'm closer to MC, I can pick up on it more.
And it's familiar. Real familiar. Not nearly as intense as the last time, but there's no denying it.
"What was your second question, Asmo?"
"It's a bit more...personal." I don't want to make them uncomfortable, but at the same time, I have to know how to proceed.
"O-Okay." Good. I wish they were less nervous, but at least I have their permission to continue.
"When I ask this, I am not trying to be arrogant or narcissistic or anything like that. Rather, it's so that I can understand exactly how you're feeling so that I can help you." MC merely nods their head in response.
Here goes nothing.
"Am I turning you on as Azzy?" Their eyes widen, and they quickly cover their face with their hands.
"MC." I place a hand on their shoulder. "Breathe. It's okay." A few moments later, they sigh as they reveal their face again.
"Is it wrong for me to say yes?" they quietly ask. I kinda figured they did based on the way they were looking at me earlier, but I just needed them to confirm it.
What I didn't expect is for them to have reservations about it. They never let who or what they were attracted to stop them before. Is it a human world thing? Given the headlines I've seen, that's definitely a possibility.
"Why would it be wrong?"
"Because...this might sound a bit weird, but..." They pause, taking a deep breath. "I don't want to hurt your feelings."
Okay, now I'm confused. How would them liking me in drag hurt my feelings? I spent a lot of time putting this together, making sure I looked good in all the right places. If they hated me like this, it'd be a different story, but that's not what this is.
So, what is it?
Wait.
I wonder...
"Are you scared that I'm going to be upset because you happen to find this a bit more attractive than how I normally present myself?"
Nod.
Ah. I see.
Humans are weird sometimes. Particularly this one.
"MC, as the Avatar of Lust, part of my job is to figure out how best to charm people. That's resulted in me wearing a lot of different costumes, as not everyone is going to like the same things. But those costumes are all based on who I am as a person. Some may be closer to reality than others, but that doesn't mean they're not me. So, it's totally cool if you like one version of me over another, because at the end of the day, you still like me, and that's all that matters."
"But I know how hard it was for you to get your powers to affect me in any way, and I didn't want you to feel like all that work was for nothing."
"It's not for nothing." I gently grab their hand. "I enjoy learning new things about you, MC. You're a really interesting individual, and I'm grateful that I've gotten the opportunity to get to know you."
They have a weird look on their face. I can't exactly pin down what they're trying to communicate, but whatever it is, it's a little intense.
"There's something that I've wanted to do since you arrived, but I didn't want to do it in front of prying eyes," MC murmurs.
Oh.
Oh.
Just to make sure I'm not mistaken, I lean in slightly. They don't move back.
But they don't remain still, either.
Instead, they close the gap between us by kissing me on the lips.
"I can barely contain myself right now," they whisper.
"Then don't."
Unfortunately, right as we get into the rhythm of our make-out session, there's a rather loud knock on the door.
Of course. It's Satan. He always does this whenever he thinks I'm taking too long in here.

Pretty privilege… no Mc privilege Pt. 3
Diavolo
Mc can make him feel like a normal demon .
He knows that everyone walks around egg shells around him.
Everyone expect Mc.
Mc just see him as a demon trying his best to make everything around him better.
Ever since Mc came to the devildom he feels like a weight has lifted off his shoulders.
He gets to be the child he was forced to leave behind.
Mc wants to go see a concert? He’s making sure they have pit seats.( shout-out Eras tour)
Mc is talking about their childhood and place called Chuck-E-Cheese? He canceled his plans and got stuck trying to go into the play place.
Mc talks about toys they couldn’t get as a child? He buys the toys in bulk then gives them away to donate.
All his life he’s been looking for some sort of normalcy.
With Mc he feels like a regular demon.
No rules, no stress, and no expectations.
He loves Mc plans because they are so spontaneous and wild.
No one has ever took the time to show him a new world.
He hopes one day to be as carefree as Mc.
Barbatos
Mc can make him believe in a different outcome.
He has spent his entire life living up to a certain model.
To be the perfect butler, the perfect demon.
Never out of line and well behaved.
He lives the same life year after year.
But if he’s learned anything from Mc it’s that, it’s okay to see the beauty.
Mc has open his eyes to finding the good in situations or believing there is more to look for.
Considering his is an all knowing being, knowing how situation will end, who will perish, and what will diminish.
He doesn’t believe in lying by having faith.
Not when he knows the stone cold truth.
But it’s different now, with Mc.
He’s thankful that Mc can give him faith .
Mc points out how beautiful death is and will be? He’s always thought of it of something humans are scared of.
Mc rushes over to an old women to help her cross the road? He watches from afar, basking in what humanity means.
He never understood watching that star. Until Mc explained each one of them has a story to tell. He’s asks himself what stories?
He will never truly understand how Mc can think so positively even in bad situations.
Even when all hope seems lost.
But, it isn’t because it’s something they learned.
Rather how they were born.
Finding the beauty is what it means to be human.
Something he’ll never get to be, but he feels close to human with Mc.
Solomon
Mc’s safety is his main priority.
He is a very busy guy that does very dangerous work.
Running errands for his experiments, Missions for Diavolo, partying with Asmo.
He helps himself over anyone else, except for Mc.
He feels sane with Mc.
Not like he is a powerful sorcerer with 72 pacts, but like a teenager talking with his crush.
Mc makes him feel seen.
So in exchange, he’ll protect them until he can’t.
Mc needs help from a creep following them but he’s currently trying to tame an experiment that went wrong? He was playing a round before but now you need to go.
Mc’s found themselves lost on the streets of devildom? Just say on the phone with him I til he finds you.
Mc is going to the human world on a mission? He’s going to join Mc just to make sure their safe.
He see Mc as an extension of himself.
So full of life.
He may be existing forever but with Mc he is alive.
Hes going to protect the nature of their relationship before anything else.
Wishing that one day they’ll see him the same way.
Simeon
He will always understand.
Mc is a very important person that’s mending the 3 worlds.
He understands the stress of it all.
Mc didn’t choose to be picked for the exchange program .
He will always listen with no judgment.
He only ever wishing for peace in your life.
Mc is feeling lost? He’s right there to remind you of your meaning.
Mc gets upset about how different their life could’ve been? He agrees and tells you it unfair.
Mc is scared of what happens from here on out? He’ll be there every step of the way.
No matter how many times Mc chooses the brothers over him, he’ll always welcome them back home.
Because, he knows what you mean to everyone.
He will spend his time trying to give Mc the pieces of their life back that they lost due to the Devildom.
He makes sure Mc knows their work isn’t for nothing.
He’ll tell stories to the children in the Celestial Realm about Mc and all they achieved.
He only hopes one day Mc will pick him over his former brothers.
Luke
Mc can change his mind.
He views Mc as an equal.
Someone worth his respect. Unlike the nasty demons.
He listens very closely to Mc’s words.
Always trying to stand out amongst the demons.
He cares and wants to see Mc happy.
Even if it means playing nice.
Mc tells him to stop fighting around with Mammon? He looks at Mammon and tells him he’s s lucky Mc is here.
Mc wants him to try a dessert he isn’t fond of? He chugs it down with the biggest smile.
Mc needs to stop by store that’s said to be haunted by ghost? What, ofc he’s not staying outside!!! It’s not too scary, he needs to be there to protect Mc.
Don’t get it wrong though, as soon as Mc turns their back he sticks his tongue at Mammon.
He also spitting the dessert out. (He feels so sorry about it)
As soon has he gets to Purgatory Hall, he’s telling Simeon how creepy the store was.
Yes, he’s an angel but very more of an angel with Mc.
He stand by Mc and believes they do no wrong.
A/n: i honestly hate this sm especially Simeon’s part. I might redo this.
As for the other undateables, I’m only on lesson 30. It might be months before I meet them😭.
Ik i said i hate this, but don’t bash me. 🙏

MC had been in the Devildom for about three years. She loved being there, truly, living there was probably her most cherished experience. Learning about everything magic was so fascinating. She knew she could never go back to the human world without longing for the Devildom and specifically for a few of its residents. Well, not exactly few but seven, seven demons who were so beloved to her. She never wanted to think about how her life will be once she goes back to the human world for good. Of course, she was friends with the others involved in the exchange program but the human is much, much closer to the seven brothers; after all they were her housemates and she also had pacts with them. She wanted to stay permanently but she knew convincing Diavolo would be hard. Even so, she wanted to give it a try anyway.
She waited for the RAD council meeting to end to talk to him again.
"Hey, can I talk to you in private for a little bit?", she whispered to him.
The prince nodded and immediately she grabbed him by the arm and pulled him into a spare classroom.
"Diavolo, I wanted to ask if you could reconsider about me going back to the human world. Please, I can't go back…", she pleaded.
The truth is she didn't have a home to go back to. Ever since her first stay in the Devildom as an exchange student, she knew she never wanted to go back. Her house wasn't home anymore, she felt suffocated there. The only person she could go back to was terrible to her, it was her brother who would create hostile situations out of nowhere. And despite certain situations she went through during her first year in the Devildom, she still thought she was better off there.
"I suppose I should think this through better. Even if I send you back, you'll be back again soon, so sending you there in the first place would be for nothing… Barbatos won't like this but then again he's not the prince right?", he joked.
"Thank you!", she said before pulling him in a bear hug.
——————————
MC was hanging out with Levi in his room when she got a message from Diavolo. He was just making small talk but she just knew he wanted to tell her something else.
Do you want to stay over at the castle tonight?
She was surprised at first but she ended up saying yes. She didn't know what to think about it but knew it would be fun. Plus she wanted to get over the feelings she had for the brothers; having feelings for all of them and wanting to be with all of them was just unrealistic. She hoped that as long as she got over them, things could still work out. After all, she loves and cares about them either way. She thought maybe Diavolo could help her get rid of those feelings.
As she was getting ready to leave Levi's room, she gave him a kiss on the cheek to tease him. She always does that and yet he always acts surprised.
"Hey, normie! Don't do stuff like that out of the blue…", he yelled at her while trying to hide his obvious flushed face.
She chuckled and walked away. She went over to Asmo's room, she wanted to ask if he could do her makeup. She might have feelings for him right now, and it does make her feel bad asking him to help her with her date, but he is an expert and she knows the demon loves doing her makeup.
The makeup he did on the human wasn't heavy at all, the Avatar of Lust just made sure to accentuate her beautiful features. How he longed to kiss that face… For the very first time someone he's attracted to has managed to make him so flustered he's unsure of what to do. Most humans seem to lose their minds over him and yet this one is different, she treats him differently. Not like someone that is put on display for everyone to objectify, but as an actual person. Sure, physical affection was his thing but it was nice to be heard. Being with her felt more intimate than most - if not all - his other physical relationships. Sure, he'd love to get physical with her too but that's for her to decide. Besides, he can tell there's something between her and his brothers as well.
——————————
MC went to Lucifer's office to let him know she's staying at the castle for the night.
"Hey, Luci. I'm going to the castle. Don't wait for me, I'll stay there. We're having a slumber party with Diavolo!", she said while smiling at him.
He was expecting something like this to happen, but the reason why he wouldn't just talk to her about his feelings wasn't just his pride. During her first year in the Devildom, with him, she never listened to him even if he was right and since then she got into numerous dangerous situations which has made him worried and hesitant about telling her how he feels. Wouldn't him being the Avatar of Pride make her even more of a target? He keeps replaying scenarios in his head, thinking about how to make things work with her. He knows she cares about him just as much as he does for her but to him her safety is more important than his feelings. He has done the same with Lilith and his brothers. Which is why her potentially dating the prince feels off to him. He's worried, he's always worried but at the same time he wants what's best for her…
"Wait, come here, I have something for you", he motioned her to get in the room. MC sat on his desk and waited for him to respond. He started chanting something in the demon language.
"It's a little protection charm. I know you think it's unnecessary but-", before he managed to finish his sentence she cut him off.
"I think it's really sweet, thank you Lucifer!"
He was glad she appreciated his gesture without asking too much about it.
"The castle is twenty minutes away, are you sure you want to go on your own? I can drive you there if you want, I'd prefer that if we're being honest", the demon said.
"I guess you're right, it's always dark and I'm human…", she played along with him. He knows this human isn't weak, but he also loves pampering her and keeping her safe.
She got on the passenger seat next to him. They didn't say much but she had had her eyes locked onto him during the entire ride. He was looking on the road, so beautiful like always. All she wanted to do was kiss him but she knew things could never work out; she doesn't have feelings just for him. If she ever got into a relationship with one of the brothers, her feelings for the others would interfere with it.
Lucifer knew Diavolo had feelings for her. He never actually told him but he could just tell. He was sure the prince knew about his feelings for MC too. It was like they had an unspoken agreement to never talk about it. Diavolo is his boss and more importantly the future king of the Devildom. He is used to getting what he wants, so addressing it would be pointless. And it seems like he's finally getting what he wants…
They finally arrived, he parked near the castle entrance, they both got out of the car. Lucifer obviously wanted to stay with her as long as he could.
"You don't have to do this", she looked up at him while telling him.
"It's okay, I want to see you getting inside and then I'll go home", he said while giving her a pat on the head.
A guard opened the gate. Once Lucifer saw Barbatos waiting there, he told her goodnight but before he was able to leave, she pulled him in a hug, thanking him.
——————————
MC had stayed in the castle a few times before this but this time it was her first time staying there without any of the brothers.
"The Young Lord is having dinner, you should too", Barbatos said as he was extending his arm for her to grab on while escorting her to the dining room.
The human had visited the castle many times but going there alone really made her take a look around; she would just pay attention to the seven brothers, so she never actually saw what was around her there. Once MC arrived at the dining room, Diavolo dismissed everyone so they could hang out in private.
There were only two chairs in the room, one was the one the prince was sitting on and the other one was across from him. She moved the chair next to him, then her plate and finally sat down.
"So what's the plan for tonight?" She didn't really think about what the two would do once she got there; usually they just hang out at RAD so she didn't have anything in mind.
"Oh, I was thinking we could sneak out to the amusement park! Barbatos doesn't really like when I sneak out but that just makes it even more fun to me.", he answered.
"Won't you be recognized? You're basically a celebrity you know"
The demon is really recognizable. Ever since he became in charge of the Devildom, everyone knew who he was. There's no demon that doesn't know what the prince looks like.
"You have a point but I can just use glamor. To you I'll look the same but to everyone else I won't. We have to go MC! Ever since the new attractions were brought in I've been itching to go but I was always too busy..."
"That's handy. Well, we should finish dinner so we can stay there for longer!", MC said while stuffing her mouth with food, signaling him to do the same.
The two finished their dinner within ten minutes and went to the movie room to "watch a movie"; they were actually planning how to sneak out. Barbatos usually tails the prince so sneaking out isn't as easy as it sounds. The butler hates when the prince sneaks out; he believes that if he uses his time more efficiently, he won't have to sneak out but no, the prince has to have it his way.
The best plan they could come up with was to just go to Diavolo's room and then sneak out from the balcony. The prince has wings so he could just fly up with MC to avoid Barbatos and the other servants until they're out of their sight.
"So that's what we're doing?", he asked one more to make sure.
"You bet we are!"
He switched to his demon form and picked her up. He's way too strong to find her heavy so she didn't impact his flying at all. After a little while, Diavolo stopped at an alley and did the glamor spell on himself. He wanted to do it just before they arrived at the amusement park to get the most out of it.
The two went on all the rides, tried every snack available and got so many prizes from the mini games there. MC was having so much fun, she had so much more than she expected. He was nothing like he was at RAD or the castle. Could she really have been that oblivious?
——————————
After that unofficial amusement park date, Diavolo confessed his feelings to the human. They began dating despite her still not being completely over the demon brothers. She thought that in time she'd get over them for sure. And Diavolo is her friend so their relationship is going pretty smoothly. It's been about three months now since they began dating. She still lives at the House of Lamentation but she stays over at the castle a lot.
MC still mostly hangs out with the brothers as her boyfriend is a lot busier than them. He doesn't want her to be alone so it works out. However, ever since she announced her relationship to the brothers, they haven't been as rowdy as they used to be. For example, Belphie and Satan toned it down with their pranks on Lucifer and Mammon has managed to slightly reduce his expenses. What happened?, she wondered. Even Levi attends more RAD classes compared to before, when he would just do online classes instead…
She wanted to ask but wasn't sure the answer she would get would be one she'd like hearing. Tonight, she's having a sleepover with the twins so she'll get a chance to observe them more closely…
Currently she had to make a potion with Levi and Satan. Things were all going smoothly until Mammon's potion exploded in his face. Lucifer, who was the one actually in charge of making that potion, scolded Mammon for not being careful enough with it. At least these two seem normal, she thought.
After their classes were over, MC headed back to the House of Lamentation with the brothers. She went to her room, which had been her room ever since she first arrived in the Devildom, to see none of her things were where they're supposed to be; in fact everything hers was missing. The door was locked when she first came in and her room doesn't have a window so there's no reason to believe she was robbed.
She went to check the other rooms only to find out her room was the only one with practically nothing in it. The human looked for Satan, she wanted to ask him if there's a chance she touched something she shouldn't or is cursed…
"MC, I don't sense any magic on you… Whatever happened must've been done either by someone powerful or it wasn't magical to begin with", he told her, disappointed that he couldn't help.
"It's okay, I'll figure out what happened!", she reassured him.
"I'm sorry I couldn't be of help to you, I could help you look though"
"It's fine really. I might have an idea of what happened but I'm not too sure yet. I'll go investigate more", she said as she was walking away but before she did, she gave him a small peck on the lips. Both of them looked at each other shocked. She ran away immediately, her heart was pounding. Why do I do this to myself?
She practically ran to Lucifer's office to ask him what had happened; he has to know right? As she opened the door, she found Diavolo there talking to the Avatar of Pride. She greeted both and asked what happened.
"Ah, you saw my surprise. I was hoping I'd be there but you came here early… I suppose I'll have to do something even better next time!", he said.
"This was a surprise? Where are my things? I'm supposed to stay here tonight…", the human was furious to say the least but she remained seemingly calm. Lucifer didn't look much better than her either but as she did, he didn't react to the prince's actions in a negative way.
"I had your things moved at the castle so you can stay with me full time. You can still have your little sleepovers but tonight I want you to stay with me…", the prince looked at her as if he was begging.
"Dia, I would've canceled my plans if you had asked me to and now I will. But next time please talk to me…"
She left the office to tell the twins she couldn’t stay with them for the night. The human was so conflicted; on one hand, her boyfriend had her things moved so they can spend more time together, but on the other hand, she won't be able to spend as much time with the brothers. At this point she wanted to disappear just for a little while just so her feelings would finally deflate, just so she's not so confused…
——————————
She arrived at the castle with Diavolo, the servants looking at them as if they had never seen them together before. After they reached the hall, Barbatos showed up.
"MC, you should come check your new room. You could also inform the staff of any changes you might need for it.", Barbatos signaled at his hand so she could get a hold of it while he showed her where it was.
"My room? Won't I be sharing a room with Diavolo? He's been my boyfriend for a while you know…", she complained.
"Ah yes, the Young Lord is pretty busy. So we figured a room of your own would be a better fit. Plus it's royal protocol, you can't share a room with him at the castle unless you want to marry him but it's way too early for that", he explained.
When she finally arrived at her room, which was on an entirely different floor from his, she couldn't help but be disappointed. What was his plan? He's too busy most of the time, that's why she spends more time with the brothers, that's why she only used to come over at the castle and that's also probably why she was even able to stay with him in his room…
She changed into different clothes as she was still wearing her RAD uniform and went to the dining room as it was about time for dinner. Already prepared food was something she loved about the Demon Lord's Castle, but then again she also loved cooking for the brothers…
She once again noticed that her chair was too far from Diavolo's as it was on their first date. She moved it once again and sat next to him. The food was exquisite as it always is but she felt like something was off…
"Can we hang out in your room after this? We could watch a movie or play a game or something", she suggested.
"I'm sorry, my darling, I'm pretty busy tonight. Tomorrow I'm yours though…", the demon promised.
Disappointed, she finished her food and headed back to her room. Why would he do all this and then not even spend time with her? There's always tomorrow, she thought.
The next day passed quickly, Diavolo was busy at RAD again for some new event this time. Luckily the brothers were there so she wasn't alone. She and Satan acted like everything was normal but both knew something was up, neither of them said anything though…
She headed to the dining room but Diavolo wasn't there this time. She looked around to see Barbatos.
"MC, the Young Lord had an emergency meeting with the House of Lords. It was something about feral demons on the southern part of the Devildom if I'm not mistaken. He won't be home until late. The Lords always keep him there for a ridiculous amount of time", the butler informed her.
"Well, can you have dinner with me then? I'm not used to having dinner alone…", she pleaded.
The demon stayed with her until she finished her, the two didn't say much but this made her realize something; her relationship with Diavolo wasn't one that would last…
After she headed back to her room, alone once again she remembered that Diavolo is fine with her sleepovers. Immediately she thought which of the brothers would drop everything immediately to be with her; the truth is all of them would. So she just called the ones that would be awake or not busy at this hour.
Immediately she sent a message to Mammon and Levi, the second and third eldest brothers arrived at the castle so fast that she wondered if they teleported. She let them into her room. Levi had brought with him a USB stick containing a few of his favorite anime for them to watch. Mammon had no preference on what they'd watch as long as he sat next to the human so it all worked out.
The Avatar of Envy plugged in the USB stick and selected one of the anime on it. He was happy he could spend some time with her, and his older brother but you'd never catch him say it outloud. The three used to spend a lot of time together in the House of Lamentation before she started dating the prince. Could things have played out differently if he was just a little bit more confident?, the demon was overthinking, not paying attention to an anime was rare for him. All he could think was what could've happened…
MC could sense something was off with Levi, Mammon too, but she could feel Levi was on the verge of a rampage… She paused the anime to see if the demon would react.
She waved her hands in front of his face with not much of a reaction…
He started transforming to his demon form when she grabbed his face and asked him what happened, reducing him to a sobbing mess in the process.
"It's just that you started dating Diavolo and now you moved out too and we don't spend as much time together anymore… I don't like that you're dating him…", Levi sobbed as he was trying to hide his face, Mammon looked as if he agreed too.
The human didn't know how to respond but this did further solidify her realization about her relationship with the prince. Instead of saying something, she pulled both of them in a warm hug. After this heart-to-heart, none of them wanted to watch the anime Levi put on, rather they spent the whole night talking each other’s ear out.
Eventually the three fell asleep in MC's bed. When it was finally time for them to wake up, she found herself right between Levi and Mammon, cuddled by both. Almost like their bodies longed for her, just as she did…
——————————
A week went by and Diavolo was still just as busy, the feral demons issue has to be what's keeping him away from her. By the looks of it, the prince has to find a way to put a stop to this soon or someone might get hurt. Well, even more seriously hurt than before.
Once again she went to the dining room and once again she was disappointed to see she would be dining alone. That was until Barbatos came in and informed her that the young prince had a surprise for her in his room. She headed there immediately. Diavolo wasn't busy. He would finally spend time with her after a while. She was so excited…
He was there, he had a table full of her favorite food set up for her, candles lit up and flowers scattered all over the room.
"I had all this prepared for my favorite human, I hope you're hungry", he told her as he was pulling the chair behind so she could sit.
"Starving!", she told him excitedly.
There was even human world alcohol there. He really did put an effort into this. Human world products weren't all that common as not every demon can teleport freely there. The only ones allowed to go there without permission are Barbatos, Lucifer and himself. He's also far too strict with the permit, so chances are it was either the Avatar of Pride or the butler that bought it since he couldn't be the one to get it, he's far too busy to go grocery shopping…
Thinking one of her beloved demons could've helped with this surprise made her a little uneasy, her appetite was affected too. She forced some food down so she could drink some of that alcohol. It had been a while since she drank alcohol from the human world and she kind of missed the feeling of being numb from the alcohol. Demonus tasted good but had absolutely no effect on her, so it was rendered useless.
Diavolo picked up on her wanting the alcohol, he poured some for her and then poured a little demonus for himself as well, careful to not get drunk as he tends to get drunk easily. She missed it but because she hadn't had a drink in a while her tolerance was basically non existent.
Soon enough, both of them were drunk and started getting touchy with each other. The human started caressing the prince's chest as if she's inviting him to do the same and he did. The prince laid her on the bed, bodies grinding on each other. This was a mistake and she knew it but it felt too good to stop. His kisses were hot and passionate, he needed this. Soon after he moved lower to her neck, kissing the sensitive skin over and over… Then he started moving lower and lower…
——————————
MC woke up naked and alone. She felt as if her head was going to split apart and once again he wasn't there. She has to put an end to this. This relationship is only causing her harm. Disappointed, she got up, put her clothes on and went to her room. She took a warm bath as if to wash away the touch of the prince, got dressed and headed to the library. She wanted some time away from everyone, including her thoughts, so she picked up a few books Satan had recommended to her a while ago.
She spent her whole day in the library, so focused on her books she failed to notice the time or her growling stomach. She went over to the dining room once again ready to dine alone but to her surprise Diavolo was there. The two made small talk and ate until she received a message from Belphie, the youngest of the brothers just told her that Beel had an accident during his fangol practice. Immediately she got up, let Diavolo know she's leaving and teleported to the House of Lamentation.
She showed up inside the house right next to Asmodeus.
"I came as soon as I found out, how is he?", the human asked the fifth of the brothers.
"He's alright now. Really, you worry too much. He's been through this before. His ankle is wrapped up and Satan just gave him a pain relief potion so he should be fine for the next few hours…", the demon updated her on his brother's condition.
She nodded and got in the twins' room to check on Beelzebub.
"Hey, Beel", she greeted him and looked at him almost as if she was examining him herself. She sat right next to him and gave him a snack she sneaked out from the castle.
"I know you'll ask so I'll just tell you what happened. I was on defense and this other demon launched himself at me and I guess I put too much pressure on this leg… So yeah, I'm fine though, this will be fully healed in like two weeks. I'm not human, remember? I heal faster!", he reassured her.
"Beel, can I do anything for you?", she asked.
"Can you just stay with us? I- We all need you here. And I can tell you need to be here too… MC, please tell me what happened. I might be quiet but I'm not oblivious. I can tell something has been bothering you for a while. I promise I won't judge you. Just please, talk to someone. It's like this thing has been eating you alive…", the Avatar of Gluttony expressed his concern for the human.
She explained everything to him, he listened without saying anything. His face showed nothing but concern.
"And there's also this thing-", she said but before she could finish her sentence Belphegor and Satan stormed into the room.
"MC, go on, we've been eavesdropping the whole time", said the youngest. Satan nodded to reassure her.
Here goes nothing, she thought. She took a deep breath before mouthing the words.
"I've had feelings for all of you for the past couple years and I have no idea what to do. Because if I only date one of you, then my feelings for the rest would destroy that relationship, just like what happened to my current one. Diavolo isn't the only one to blame… But I used him to hopefully get over all of you, which didn't work and now everything is a mess…", she said while trying not to start sobbing uncontrollably.
"I knew it! So that's why you kissed me the other day?", Satan asked, the twins looked at each other and then their older brother in shock.
"Well, I think I speak for everyone when I say that we would rather see you happy than not.", he exclaimed, while looking at his younger brothers for confirmation, both of which simply nodded.
"I mean, if I had to choose between causing Lucifer slight inconveniences and keeping you happy, I'd choose the second option in a heartbeat", said Belphie in a cheeky tone.
"Do you have a plan about what to do? How to break things off with Diavolo?", asked the Avatar of Wrath, his mind running in circles, trying to help his beloved.
"I'll do that tomorrow. Now I just want to stay here, with you all…", the human said.
Satan looked at Belphie's bed and signaled him to help him push it next to Beelzebub's. After both beds were pushed together, MC made herself comfortable on Beel's chest leaving a little bit of space between them for Belphie who would in turn make himself comfortable on the human's chest, ready to fall asleep. Next to her lay Satan who instead of sleeping played with her hair and looked at her, his eyes focusing on her face, almost like he's lost in thought.
This was the best sleep she had in a while, she almost didn't want to wake up but she knew she had to.
"Good morning", she said to Beelzebub as she gave him a quick kiss on the lips, the demon not being fully awake yet smiling at the feeling.
"Good morning to you too", she said to Belphie who was already puckering his lips in his sleep.
"Good morning MC", Satan smiled at her as he was the one to kiss her this time.
She stayed for a little bit in bed with the demons, until she had to get up. Didn't Beel need to take another dose of the potion? She thought she could just bring it to him and also get him breakfast. As she was heading to the kitchen, she went into her room out of habit to notice her things were back. Did Diavolo realize what happened? She should probably explain herself to him…
"Lucifer, where's that potion Beel is supposed to get for the pain? I'll give it to him", she asked as she was preparing breakfast for the three demons she spent the night with.
"Oh, he drank the last dose earlier. He should be free of pain by the afternoon, no need to worry, MC", she just smiled at him.
"Also you should probably talk to Diavolo, I saw your belongings were returned and you spent the night with Beel, Belphie and Satan so-", the human interrupted him by kissing him. Finally, he thought to himself.
"MC, I…", the man was left speechless.
After briefly explaining everything, Lucifer agreed with what Satan told her, that all brothers just want her to be happy.
She gave him another kiss as she took a tray full of food back to the twins' bedroom. Immediately Beel was wide awake, already salivating. Belphie, Satan and the human took their usual portions and left everything else to be devoured by the Avatar of Gluttony.
"I missed your food, MC", said Beel. She wasn't even gone that long from the House of Lamentation but her absence really impacted the brothers.
"Ah, here you are, darling! Come on now, we have skincare to do~", Asmodeus stormed and practically picked MC up. He took her to his room, so he could spend some time alone with her.
"So, MC, you're back, right?", he asked, anxious for her response. He took some face creams and masks out of a mini fridge he keeps in his room, picking and choosing which one is the best.
"Yeah, I missed you and well, I guess Diavolo no longer wants me in the castle…"
Asmo's eyes lit up, ignoring the second part of her answer completely.
"You didn't miss just me though, right?", the demon asked. "What? You thought I wouldn't know? I can feel the lust you feel through the pact, especially when we're close. I can tell something is going on, and you can tell me. Hey, I'm like the least judgemental out of all the demons living here!", he reassured her.
She proceeded to explain everything once again. Asmo might look superficial but he's actually a great listener. He really made her feel understood and well, everything felt more possible…
After her talk with the Avatar of Lust, she went to the Demon Lord's Castle. She felt bad but she also knew she wasn't the only one to blame. Luckily, this time, Diavolo wasn't busy, he was just having tea in the garden. She practically stormed there, wanting to talk and apologize.
The atmosphere was awkward to say the least. The human and the prince avoided looking at each other.
"I'm sorry, Diavolo, for everything. It wasn't my intention to hurt you, but I'm sorry that I did. I used you and it wasn't fair"
"It's alright, I apologize too, I guess I didn't think of your needs and wasn't communicating enough. I hope we can eventually put this whole thing behind us and stay friends and I have arranged for you to stay here permanently if that's what you still want…", the prince said, anyone could tell he really was sorry as she was.
"Yes, I'd love that, thank you. I should go but it was great that we were able to talk about this…", she said and soon enough left the castle.
She was officially dating five out of the seven brothers now, which meant she would be even busier than before; but all she ever wanted was to be busy with the brothers so it all worked out. Leviathan and Mammon were the ones she couldn't do anything with yet. It makes sense though. One is the physical embodiment of envy and the other wants her all to himself. Luckily she was optimistic since they seem to get along just fine when she's around…

Random Obey Me! Headcanons Part 3
Asmo collects plushies, he finds the little things absolutely adorable and has tons of them in his room. And yes, you'll see Asmo's eyes lit up like a kid if you ask him about them and their individual names. He will also be glad to explain each one's little story and how he got them, and you would be endeared to find that a good portion of the plushies were given by the other brothers themselves, who have known about his love for collecting for a long time now.
Belphie is one of those people who when you ask them for something will ALWAYS blatantly say no at first but then proceed to nonchalantly do the exact thing you asked with no ounce of shame whatsoever, maybe even smirk a little as they finish doing whatever it is you asked. It's a little annoying at first, but you eventually get used to it. He's just likes being a brat, really.
Satan had an emo phase as a teenager, he would dye his hair black, only wear dark clothes, paint his nails regularly ( with the help of Asmo ), listen to typical emo music, the whole nine yards. And of course, he was more rebellious than ever, refusing to listen to his brothers and just any authority figures in general. He's ashamed of it now and cringes hard seeing pictures of himself back then. As any good father older brother would though, Lucifer always manages to embarrass him by bringing up that phase and even showing the "cursed pictures" to friends/potencial partners Satan brings home.
Levi likes to hide in small spaces when he's anxious, overwhelmed, or just doesn't wanna deal with something ( social interactions more often than not ). Oh, you're at a party and you can't find Levi anywhere? Check the less crowded room, more specifically under the tables, he's probably there playing games on his phone. Hm, it's lunch break at RAD and the third born is nowhere to be seen? Inside his locker, or maybe the janitor's closet. He doesn't know exactly why he does it, but it's a habit that's been with him ever since he was a small angel. Those places just comfort him, somehow. And don't worry, he's pretty flexible so it works out just fine. I mean, why else would he be okay sleeping in a bathtub?
MC and Mephisto didn't meet for the first during S4. In fact, these two first met only a week into the exchange program, with Mephisto interviewing MC for the RAD Newspaper. Because of course, the public was dying to know more about the newest exchange student who had just entered the academy, and multiple news outlets were covering MC's arrival and curious situation, given that they had been placed with the seven brothers at HoL, and had gotten into a pact with Mammon so quickly. Being aware of all of this, Mephisto knew that an exclusive interview with MC would give everyone in the kingdom something to talk about, and so he sought to be the first one to get his hands on one. ( Also he was very intrigued and eager to known more about MC, but of course he'd never admit that. )
Belphie and Mammon both have piercings around their bodies. Mammon especially likes the golden and grey ones that match his rings, while Belphie prefers them black ( because of course he would ).
For the first 2-3 months of the exchange program, MC genuinely thought Diavolo and Lucifer were a couple. This happened because ever since day 1 they were hearing "funny comments" about the two of them and just assumed they were in an actual relationship. And no one ever bothered to correct them because they found it hilarious, and wanted to see how long it'd take for them to find out the truth. Some of the brothers even went as far as purposely making up stories to lead MC to believe that Lucifer was out on dates with Diavolo when he wasn't at home and they came looking for him ( and the bastards would immediately start laughing the moment MC left the room ). MC only found out the truth when they were talking to Lucifer about Diavolo one day and casually replied to something he said with "But that's not really surprising since he's your boyfriend" and Lucifer just went ???? "Excuse me?? What did you just say?" and proceeded to explain that he and Diavolo were in fact not in a relationship. ( the punishment he gave his brothers after finding out about this "little prank" of theirs was no joke, but none of them regretted it, it was "just too funny", in their own words )
Lucifer's voice changes DRASTICALLY depending on his mood. Like, the more serious/stressed he is, the deeper it goes, and the more relaxed/content he is, the softer it becomes. You can hear it cleary when you compare the way he sounds on a regular basis when lecturing the others, speaking about work, giving speeches as RAD's vice president, etc, to rare occasions when he's talking about music and art, playfully teasing the others, or recalling a nice moment from the past. It's like there are 3 stages to his voice: usual deep, furiously deep ( that iconic "Mammooon" ), and ACTUALLY SOFT. The ones who get to hear his "nice voice" the most are MC, Diavolo, Barbatos, Luke, and Beel.
One that's already been discussed by other players but that I'd like to add on: demons ( and angels as well ) give humans "uncanny valley feeling" and MC could tell there was something ""wrong"" with brothers ( they aren't humans ) the moment they first laid their eyes on them in the council room. And my addition to this is: although the brothers all give off this feeling, it's to varying degrees that depend on how much they can blend in as a human. And Satan is the only who can bypass this "filter" almost completely, because remember when Lucifer first introduced him by saying something along the lines of "He might look nice but don't fall for it because it's an act"? Well, I like to think that Satan also looks the most "normal" out of his brothers when it comes to the "uncanny valley feeling" because of this too, since he has pretty much mastered the art of appearing trusting to deceive humans back in the day and is still the best at disguising himself as human to not to scare people away when visiting the human world and such.
Solomon has a hobby of solving jigsaw puzzles, like, you know those huge ones that take over the entire table or floor? He absolutely loves them and will gladly spend a whole day focused on completing them if needed. And if you offer to solve one with him? Oh, he'll get so excited it's actually kind of adorable. So do it, it's the road to his heart, even if you find it boring.
Lucifer leaves Beel on charge whenever he has a work-related trip, or simply intends on spending more time out of the house than usual. It's easy, as long as the second youngest keeps everything in order, Lucifer promises to take him to any restaurant he wants ( no matter how expensive ), and to let him eat to his heart's content when he comes back. Oh, Mammon is trying to sneak out of the house to gamble all their money away? Nuh-uh, Beel's not letting him leave through that door! Asmo's planning to take advantage of the fact that Lucifer is out to throw a party? Nope, Beel's stopping him. Satan & Belphie are trying to get into Lucifer's room to prank him? Yeah nah, Beel's dragging them back to their own rooms. Really, it works wonders, not only because Beel has the most physical strength out of everyone and can overpower them, but also because none of them have the heart to actually argue with him.

Thoughts on Nightbringer (minor spoilers)
Description: What it says on the tin.
TW: None. Minors DNI.
Thoughts on game mechanics:
- Ruri Tunes is so much fun! And I'm loving the remixes of all the characters' songs.
- The difficulty spikes after lesson 4. I went from getting S-ranks to D's in the span of a single lesson. :(
- The hardest part of the game is leveling up cards/drawing the right cards in nightmare. Nightbringer makes me wish I had my old cards from the base game.
- The backgrounds, enemies, etc. are nods to the anime/past events (like Beel's carrot curry and the masked bats). Which is super cute!
-Extreme mode is INSANE.
- It's far easier to get devil points. In daily rewards, you can earn up to twenty points per day.
Lore!
- The game takes place a year after the celestial war ends. The brothers have been under house arrest staying with Diavolo while the HoL was reconstructed.
- The brothers are constantly surprised by Beel's appetite. Which tells me that their sins have been slowly infecting them over the past year.
- Solomon fought off the entire devildom at once??? AND WON???
- Finally, we have more of Luke's backstory! Apparently he was born sometime after the celestial war ended and Nightbringer begins. He could be anywhere from a year to literally like a month old lol.
- Barbatos hates Solomon for some reason. Their conversations are comedy gold. Solomon "can't" remember why his friend hates him because his memories from this time are "foggy." (I call bs)
- Guess who makes the first pact in the game? It's not you - it's Solomon. He forges a pact with Asmo when you're stuck in the maze under Diavolo's castle...which effectively rewrites how the two originally made a pact! Two lessons later, he warns you not to mess with the timeline. Pick a lane.
- Nightbringer (let's be honest, it's Barbatos) is the name of the person who brought us to the devildom. Imo, the name is stupid and Barbatos should never be allowed to name anything, ever.
- We met biblical Adam and he was in hell. For some reason.
Misc. Notes:
- The brothers are kinder to the MC than season one of the base game. I can't tell if it's because they're still acting like angels or because the MC is masquerading as their demonic attendant.
- Seriously I'm at lesson 9 and no one has threatened to kill me yet.
- Ah, cold and distant Lucifer my beloved. How I've missed you. 😌
- Mammon is a simp in all universes and across all timelines for the MC. I love that for them.
- Leviathan has always been like that™️
- Asmo misses the celestial realm so much he modeled his room after it.
- Belphegor doesn't seem to hate humans as much? I keep expecting him to lesson 16 me at any second.
- MC lied to Diavolo's face, forgetting that one of his cannon powers is that he can detect lies. Guys why are we so stupid. 😔
And that's it! I may come back to update this list once I've finished lesson 10

Charmed, I'm Sure
Chapter 20
Summary: No human has ever avoided Asmodeus's charm. Except for you.
Pairing: Asmodeus x GN Reader/MC
Genre: Drama, angst, a little bit of fluff.
Warnings: The usual mildly suggestive content, mild blood, pact use.
***
Asmo ran to Purgatory Hall, the lights from the street and the moon blurring in his vision. He used magic to open the door when he arrived, not bothering to knock.
Asmo nearly bumped into Simeon in the hallway.
“Oh, hi Asmo, we weren't expecting–”
“I’m borrowing your shower,” Asmo called over his shoulder.
He pushed Luke out of the way, who was humming to himself, towel in hand as he was about to enter the bathroom.
Asmo slammed and locked the door, turning the shower on to its hottest setting.
He stripped off his clothes and transformed back into his demon form. The demons’ blood was splattered across his torso and dotting his bare arms. His hands were still covered in it. He watched it all swirl down the drain through the thick clouds of steam that were already beginning to fill the bathroom.
Asmo didn't come out for almost two hours, scrubbing away at his skin until it was red and long past clean, as if that would get rid of the awful, icky feelings that overcame him. When even Purgatory Hall’s magic water heater couldn't keep up with him, the water running ice cold, he stopped and turned off the shower. Asmo towel dried his hair and slipped into a pale blue robe left on one of the bathroom hooks.
He threw open Solomon’s bedroom door. Solomon looked up from the potion he was brewing at his desk.
“It’s all my fault,” Asmo said.
Solomon stood, setting aside what he was working on. “What’s all your fault?”
Asmo sat on Solomon’s bed. He wrapped his arms around himself, chewing his bottom lip. Solomon waited patiently for him to speak.
“The witches, my fans, they put a curse on the demon who tried to take MC’s soul. ” He said finally. “And MC, they–” Asmo burst into tears.
Solomon’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline. “What’s this about MC?”
“They were almost eaten, Solomon! And it was because of my fans!” Asmo began to shake. “They- th-they were cornered by two lower level d-demons tr-trying to take revenge.”
Solomon reached for his D.D.D., waiting for Asmo to continue before he did anything. “Is MC alright?”
“Well now th-th-they are. Lord D-Diavolo is taking c-c-care of it,” Asmo pulled out his handkerchief, dabbing at his eyes and nose. “It’s all my fault,” he whispered.
Solomon released a breath, coming to sit on the bed next to Asmo. He put his arm around Asmo’s shoulders, giving him a comforting squeeze.
“Asmo, I really don’t think-”
“Their blood would have been on my h-hands. Lucifer would n-never, he’d never forgive m-me, and they would have…” he couldn't bring himself to finish the sentence. Asmo buried his face in his hands and continued to sob.
Solomon let him cry for a little while, allowing Asmo to lean into him for support. At one point Simeon knocked at the door to call them down to dinner, entering when Solomon opened the door with magic, but Asmo didn't notice. When he saw the crying demon in Solomon’s arms, Simeon gave a sympathetic nod and went back to the kitchen to prepare a tray for the two of them. He left it and a pot of tea outside the door.
Solomon cleared his desk of potion ingredients and brought in the dinner tray. He set it on top of the desk.
“This is quite a departure from how you acted when MC first arrived.” He said.
Asmo was now staring blankly at the wall, still sniffing. His eyes were puffy and red. It wasn't clear if he’d even heard Solomon speak.
Solomon poured him a cup of tea, inhaling the scent. “It looks like Simeon prepared some sencha tea, I know that’s one of your favorites. Lots of antioxidants for your skin.”
Asmo took the cup in both hands. “I said such awful things to them.” He said quietly.
Solomon sat back down in his desk chair. “You mean before?”
Asmo had been known to be very petty. He was the type of person to start rumors about you behind your back, give you backhanded compliments. But rarely, as angry as he could become, would he antagonize someone to their face. That was something he kept within his family. It wasn't good for his image, not beautiful at all. And beauty was what he prized most of all. At the height of Asmo’s hatred toward you Solomon was sure he wouldn't have stooped to that level. It just wasn't him.
Asmo shook his head. “No, it was right after I…” He trailed off. He could still see it. How you turned away from him and that single tear that rolled down your cheek. He’d hurt you.
His stomach did an annoying little flip-flop. He took a sip of his tea, bouncing his leg. He needed to shake this feeling. “I don’t know why I care so much.”
“You’ve gotten to know them at least a little bit,” said Solomon, “It’s only natural for you to have some empathy for them."
Asmo looked at the bright green liquid rippling in his tea cup. “No, this isn't just empathy. This is something else,” he set the cup down and ran his hands through his hair. “I was so worried when I found them that when it was all over I couldn't help it– I yelled at them…”
He wanted to take it all back, to hold you and let you cry into his shoulder. He could comfort you in any way you needed, no matter how far you wanted to go, he was good at that. Maybe then you would forget the ugly side that had burst out of him.
But everything he’d said was correct. Protective bracelet or not, you shouldn't have been walking around alone, in Asmo’s opinion. He’d been right to admonish you. Maybe he was a little harsh but obviously you weren't listening to his brothers’ kind suggestions. He was justified.
But something still nagged at him. He couldn't get over the way you had looked at him.
“You could always apologize. I’m sure, given the circumstances, they’d understand. Humans can’t hold such long term grudges the way eternal beings can. Their lives aren't long enough for that.” He gave a wry smile. “I mean, usually they aren't.”
Asmo wasn't listening to him. He was thinking about you again, leaving arm-in-arm with his brothers. Not a glance back. He shook his head to clear the vision but it remained. “I’m constantly worried about their opinion of me. Why do I care so much?” He repeated.
Why had he cared? Both now and when you’d fallen ill, it had upset him, shaken him. Why? It’s not like the two of you were even friends. You were supposed to be an inconsequential presence in his life. A housemate, maybe a plaything if he wished. How many tears had he cried for you? And not counting the ones he’d shed when he’d felt his whole identity was coming into question because you wouldn't fall for his charm. This was strange.
Solomon watched him silently.
“I’m the Avatar of Lust and they’re just a human. I’ve had thousands of humans so why do I-” Asmo’s face colored. “There’s something wrong with me.”
“There’s nothing wrong with you,” a small, knowing smile crept up on Solomon’s lips.
It was clear to him what was going on, even if Asmo didn't understand it himself. He sat back.
“There is something wrong with me!” Asmo pulled his knees up to his chest. “Solomon, I can’t stop thinking about them, make me stop thinking about them!”
Solomon quirked an eyebrow, “How would I do that?”
“Use our pact, order me to stop thinking about them.”
If Asmo didn't know you weren't able to use magic, he’d have thought you put a spell on him. Maybe someone else had, a former lover, a jealous demon who coveted his beauty. How else could he explain his thoughts always returning to you? This wasn't like him. Asmo only cared about himself, everyone knew that, Asmo most of all. Occasionally his family could slip in and take a fraction of his love, they’d lived together and fallen together, it was only natural. But you weren't family, you were just… you.
Solomon crossed his arms. “I’m not doing that.”
Tears pricked at Asmo’s eyes again. “Please, Solomon, this isn't me. I need to stop-”
Solomon shook his head. “You need to sort out your own feelings.”
“Solomon,” Asmo whimpered. He tried to use his charm to influence him, his eyes beginning to glow through his tears. It was no use, Solomon’s magical talismans counteracted it.
“It’s late, Asmo. You should go to sleep. We can talk more about this in the morning.”
“But-”
Solomon sighed. He didn't want to use his pact this way, but Asmo wasn't going to figure out the contents of his own heart tonight. “Go to sleep, Asmodeus.” He commanded.
Asmo’s body went rigid as the pact took hold. “I hate you, Solomon,” Asmo sobbed as his limbs moved involuntarily. He fell back against the pillows, falling asleep instantly under the pact’s magic.
Solomon pulled the comforter over him and sat at the end of the bed. He sent out a text to Satan, informing him that Asmo would be spending the night at Purgatory Hall.
