thinking abt how in rex's case, the age-old question of "is it better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all?" would for once have the answer of "yes"

cause if he had been trapped on undar before tlm1, he wouldnt have suffered as much as he did sure, he still would suffer, but he wouldnt have felt abandoned by people he held dear. cause he didnt HAVE anyone to hold dear you cant feel abandoned and forgotten by people you dont have

but as it stands, in canon he went back to being alone like he'd been his entire life before meeting his friends. only difference is, for the first time it actually stung

so paradoxically if emmet had never met the gang, rex never would've happened - nevermind the fact that he wouldn't go out into space at all, if he DID get trapped on undar through some other means (like how rex was in the original storyboards, when he was still a random guy - the alien attack knocked him off the bricksburg table), he wouldn't have broken nearly as much - if at all. and rex specifically would have no reason to exist as a persona, cause he wouldn't have anyone to prove himself to

See i'm going to assume you meant yes to the 'it being better to have never loved at all' part of that saying, cause that's what I'm getting from this. And all in all, I do agree.

I mean at this point it's been shown many times that the main thing that motivated Rex to try and bring about armageddon was because of his hatred towards his old friends and the way they 'betrayed' him, they way they treated him when they first met, and all of the other times after that.

I've mentioned this plenty of times in previous posts, but the betrayal Rex feels during Undar isn't just from being left there alone, it's also the pain of having the people closest to you not trust your ability to take care of yourself (or them).

Emmet is a person so full of love and happiness, he always wants to help the people around him, and this fact is made evident in the few scenes we see of Apocalypseburg where he goes around and tries to spread joy or help them, especially his friends.

And while there were some good times during those few years, it's debatable if those few instances were really worth all of the mistreatment he experienced outside of that, and then the 5 year isolation in Undar.

I still think that even without meeting Lucy, he would still develop that hatred that fuels him in Undar, it's just that this time, he doesn't have anyone there to betray him. Since he doesn't have any relationships this time round, the pain of being left behind wouldn't sting as much because he no longer has any of those people to miss.

But he's still going to want to get out of Undar and get tougher as a way to stick it to everyone who ever ignored him and become so cool that he feels much more 'powerful' than everyone else.

I guess in this timeline, he's focusing on himself more than the rage he's feeling (it's still there alright, just not as destructive as in the og timeline), he's trying to make himself unforgettable to make up for those years of conformity.

(An idea I had for more cute BloodyHarvest and Elara moment. Answer if you want)

Elara has been craving barbecue and the like for a few days so she built a little fire pit and gathered all the wood she'd need. Took her some time to get the wood to good charcoal level and spend an hour finding the right seasoning for the barbecue sauce and several more to let it marinate the meat. She settled on a sweet honey barbecue recipe and several different meats to test it because she wasn't sure which would be the best. She was slow cooking it in the bed of hot charcoal, carefully placed on grill rack and covered with cute in half metal barrel. (Girl finds useable stuff left behind by humans in the forest sometimes. Cleans it and uses it. Can't be wasteful)

It is nearly time for the meats to be done and the smell is heavenly. Probably smell the food at least a mile away from the cabin.

Ok so i got the Furuya x Wayama lhc collab book, and this image immediately stood out to me.

Initially, since Raizou has been (heavily,) (blatantly,) implied to be a transgender girl, my gut went in that direction, since its specifically two schoolgirls that are shown.

And i know that the lhc's whole thing was catching a girl, but these are... not the age they were aiming for (they're elementary school kids, as indicated by their hats and bags), so that interpretation's out the door.

But, another option my mind went to was; "Well, randoseru's are expensive, and lhc takes place around war times. So perhaps it's not about the fact that it's girls wearing them, but about the price. And even though those bags aren't really used by middle schoolers, it could be a longing for something you couldn't have back then."

The artist's comments also seemed to support that theory;

In my head, I thought it would be cool to draw Rin as a gnome, though her skirt definitely isn't dungeon proof, she's a cleric who probably worked civilian before joining the dungeoneering team.

But at the same time, half foot Rin is a really cool idea, the idea that her village wasn't keen at all on magic and she had to push herself through mana sickness and her few resources to learn how to heal with it. She doesn't expect to leave outside her village until she gets taken up by Kakashi and Obito.

Obviously Kakashi is tricky bc like, he's an elf, so if Rin is a half foot and Obito a tall man, they can't all be childhood friends due to the age differences. Hmmmm, so many thoughts

So like, childhood friends Rin and Obito. But also Kakashi, super huge rising star magic genius, is well known enough that Rin really admired him even before they met, especially bc hes rumored to be partially self taught (like her!!!) She had like a celebraty crush on him, which pissed Obito off a bit

Ofc his arrest for using ancient magic and subsequent tossing into the Canaries was p well known, but I'm undecided if it's well known enough that Rin would have heard of it or if it's only well known within certain circles just due to the high profile of those involved

So like. Eventually when they formed a part together, Kakashi only gave his first name (he'd long since stopped giving out his last) and Rin literally went *oh !!! Like Kakashi Hatake? So cool.* and he just kinda went "yeah. Like him. I get that a lot."

aww anon i understand--this type of analysis is not what we're used to here, especially for several days in a row. i've got experience in a different fandom where it was essentially these intense symbolism breakdowns and discussions all day every day, but i know it isn't for everyone. it definitely takes a lot of brain power to even just read them, let alone write them.

i'll be honest that i'm kind of living for the dapc content here on tumblr--everyone is so talented and i am devouring every theory and art piece. its really breathed some new life into our little community and i'm actually gonna be sad once it's over.

i get where you're coming from and it's understandable if you need to take some time, cause the subject matter is dark and gorey and since that's not typically what we come to dnp (or dnp tumblr) for, it can be a lot to process. i really want to show them that there Is an audience for this and we see the vision and adore it, so i don't want to rush them into whatever the next thing is. give this space to breath. let her have her moment yknow? but at the same time, i'm so curious how they're gonna segue. we're in a whole new era, not to mention the fact that it's taken over the merch website! will they drop the curtain? are we gonna get dapc interstitial advertisements? or will the link just be in the description and the rest up to us? who knows! i'm excited. it's really been just a lovely reminder about how fucking cool it is to be a fan of dan and phil in 2024.
