I didn't plan it I was taking a break from drawing l/o/t/r characters#initially it was going to be a creepy sun emboding moon's whole thing. Then moon playing pretend and mascarading as sun#then a nod to sun and moon being indeed the same person. something I usually dont draw because I view them as separate#then I accidentally added in moon's hat even though I already had the rays. because I rarely draw sun so it's instinct#and this all started because I had this vivid image of sun's wide eyes in shadows so deep you can make out his ghostly white iris#point is: not even I the artist know if this is eclipse. if this is sun. if this is moon. if this is them mid switch. this is the DCA#traditional art#done with grey brush pen tgat I added water to. a black brush. black fineliner. and several layers of white pencil to wash out that eye#(it was painted black)#plus white watercolour for the iris#yes I had to do it like this. the camera doesn't capture it well but in person all that work made the eye exactly how I envisioned it#what a tag rant for a fanart that took less than an hour before dinner lmao

Red Kaneki lighting practice
#kaneki ken#my art#tokyo ghoul#I tried a different technique with this one I used a watercolour layer under the pencil#I only did it on Kaneki and a bit of the background though#I think I should’ve done it on the whole thing#took a while before I took the photo though bc the water made the paper wavy and I had to weigh it down with other stuff#so this is about a week late i think#working on another Kaneki again today

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I love Kaneki so much!!!!!! I want to do puzzles with him and watch his expression as he tries to figure out what to do with a difficult piece!!!!!! I want to paint still-lifes of the coffees he makes!!!! I want to take him to the nursery to pick out new bulbs to plant in the spring!!!!!!! I want to buy Kaneki a desk!!!!!!!!!!!
#I would paint a still life of a ghoul he’s de-kakuhoued and title it “Kaneki’s Work 5”#but I feel like he wouldn’t want a picture like that up#maybe he’d be embarrassed#what other stuff does he make#he needs to get into making bookmarks I want to see him surrounded by wavy scissors and watercolours and ribbons crafting away#oil painting of a bookmark Kaneki made. god bless him#I would say his poetry if he liked writing his own but I’m not really sure#also idk how you paint a picture of someone’s poem besides visualising it as a scene#that would be a cute idea ngl he can write something and I will draw it for him and it’s like a collaboration#I will personally go to the store and buy silk cardboard and the highest quality calligraphy paper#and select a ribbon in his favourite colour and then use the Chinese bookbinding technique to make him the nicest notebook for his writing#I’ll find some way to print a design onto the silk for the cover probably wood block but idk how silk printing works#I would find out for him#and he can have whatever design he would like for his notebook#we can have a photo shoot of him with his new book#I think Kaneki should meet an eel#kaneki time

Valeyna was originally my new DS2 character but I'm also porting her into an original thing I'm working on cuz it needs more of a cast of characters alongside Vasya besides Faust (again... who invited him THIS time huh /j) and a thirsty fairy (starring as the "weird little guy:tm:) LMAO
she is a soft spoken sorceress who is from a nomadic people with a bad reputation for their namesake - Albedo. She has an interest in the dark/occult and uses hexes, but as a result, she's very open-minded.

The painting is done. It is currently in the process of being flattened, I don’t want to take pictures until it’s flat so it won’t be warped. It’s far too nice an artwork to share photographs of it warped.
#it’s so much better than I’d even hoped#like. first time ever painting a portrait of any sort I was not expecting it to be great#especially since it’s *watercolour*#but I really like how it looks#for the finishing touches I even brought out my little sample sheet of super fancy watercolours#so I put the final touches on the portrait with paints made of semiprecious stones. fitting for the character I think.#there’s some lapis lazuli in there. some bits of shading in his hair were done with black tourmaline.#the shading in his eyes was done—very fittingly—with bloodstone. hell there’s even a little *garnet* in there.#the full list is far longer. there’s a veritable rock collection in that painting.#I think the darling vampire twink would approve.#so many hours of work though… something like 18 hours I think?#my entire body is fucking screaming from all that time kneeling hunched on the floor while I worked#but it was worth it. I love how this has turned out.

post ankle-twisting clarity
#i slipped in the mudddddd the other day LOL i twisted my one ankle and scraped up my other knee#so the past few days ive just been kind of needing to waddle around.....#LUCKILY its healing well and fast <3 but yknow i was like#so stressed out over shit that doesnt matter in school. and like this is an awful unintentional habit i have but i will get like#overly stressed over shit and then i'll start getting SUPER careless with everything. and then i'll injure myself foolishly and Calm Down#happened last year with my foolish midnight woodcarving incident LOL its always november....#BUT yeah luckily this years foolish injury is a quick one at least!!#but yeah like genuinely i was so stressed out about all my fine arts major shit. teachers have been really getting on my case recently#my main professor said that it was a good thing people get so riled up with my work because it means its impactful#tbh i didnt believe her at all i thought she was just trying to placate me but then i listened closely to the things faculty say when#they look at my fucking. cartoon wolf drawing or something and i think. she might be right actually. people keep getting frustrated with me#because i think they see a lot of potential in me but i basically only have to drive to draw cartoon wolves etc HFKJSDHJVKRFEds#which is great for my ego. maybe too good for my ego. that my mark making and colour use etc is so evocative to these industry and#instutition people. but on the other hand i was told like thrice now that my work has no place in a gallery. which is fine although im not#totally sure how true that is. but also afterwards one time i was suggested to go into animation instead which is. um.#so its not out of nowhere i mean i did want to be an animator when i was like 10 but if you know anything about the current state of the#animation industry its like genuinely wild to tell someone who you've only seen 2 dimensional watercolour and acrylic painted#sketchy lined drawings from and who has said they cant do digital art anymore that they should get an animation degree?#brother they would kill me. i would be killed. i had an inkling but it really made me notice so clearly how limited the experiences my#faculty kind of have with certain industries. which is fine. or maybe not. for a professor LOL but yknow. but i was like huh. i guess i can#just kind of chill lol if i just keep doing things maybe something will come of it. i may not get as much help in my artistic development#rn as i would like. but its chill i think i'll figure it out if i just keep doing stuff <3#doesnt really matter that my teachers dont know what to do with me. my kneeeee has a booboo so i am CHILLING out :)
