Justice League meets the Batfam, but they already knew about them because of Batman ranting about his kids.

In the comics, Batman has implemented that Nightwing should be in charge of the Justice League if something happened to him BEFORE he had adopted Dick (so, when his only legal son was Jason). When Dick is called to help, he learns that people think he's Batman's son because of how Batman speaks about him, and how he is proud of nothing in his life but the man Nightwing has become.

So, let's imagine the batfam thinking they are so secretive and mysterious, and "B, it's time for you to trust your friends and colleagues more", and going to the JL to officially present the Batfam, only for them to cut them and be "You're Batman's kids, everyone knows that. He doesn't shut up about you."

Bruce doesn’t realize he does it, btw. He didn’t clearly stated that they are his kids, that he is their dad, he just starts to talk about them and how proud he is, and how competent they are, and how much he cares about them, when the discussion seems appropriate to do so. But for the rest of the JL, Batman talks about three things: the mission, his kids, and his interests if you are close and it's useful rn (him starting to rant about dinosaurs to Hal when they face dinosaurs is cute). They probably tell new recruits "Batman may seem scary, but he is really just a protective dad. Soon enough, you will hear about his kids".

Imagine the boys getting cursed to bear witness to “some of the most negatively impactful things in their lives” and they’re terrified, thinking it’ll be stuff like the invasion or Shredder or something-

Only to be met with multiple scenarios of their family. Saying offhand, but hurtful things. Doing hurtful things. Lots of scenarios that were inconsequential to everyone but the one most affected.

And they’re all scrambling, desperate to make sure the others don’t look too deep into it haha it doesn’t really bother them- but they all know the truth. Because they’re all in the same position here. It wasn’t on purpose, and they all know it wasn’t on purpose, but it still hurts.

It’s almost a relief, that they’re going through it all together. That they can apologize for mistakes, and accept that they’ve held onto hurt too long when they could have dealt with it sooner.

And that’s how they break the curse, reversing it into something different, as they’re told that before it leaves them for good they’ll bear witness to the most positively impactful things in their lives. And now they think they’ll see some of their best victories, some of their grandest adventures-

The scenes they see then are of the same cloth as their negative ones. Simple scenes, ones that most wouldn’t remember. Times where someone managed to make someone else smile, times where they were just so content to exist by the other’s side, times where they were just happy being there with their brothers, their family.

It’s the little things that go the farthest, because that’s what you experience the most in life. And they’ll mess up again, of course. Things happen, and they’ll never really know how their actions and words will be taken. But through the good and the bad, they’re family.

Besides - turns out, there’s a lot more good.

I found fibrecraft tumblr after searching drop spindles because my dad *didn’t even know what that was.* And despite having been firmly of the opinion that I didn’t intend to learn it, y’all have me getting ever closer to giving in. However, I’m also growing ever more enamored with the idea of weaving - and despite recently deciding to give knitting and crochet another go - I think it looks the most fun of the fiber crafts. My issue is that I have absolutely no space.

But I’m beginning to realize there’s a lot of different looms and types of weaving. So I was wondering if you have any resources or tips for small space methods and storage?

i will admit that while i love knitting, weaving is amazing, and is much better with regards to instant gratification—weaving for an hour gets you a lot more fabric than knitting for an hour.

so let's talk about weaving, because i have great news for you: you can 100% totally weave in a small space if you want to, and you even have options for how you do it. i'm going to go through basically all the small space weaving options that i'm aware of in roughly size order, and if you make it to the bottom of this you'll have a pretty good overview of space-saving weaving methods.

the first question to ask yourself is what you want to weave. maybe you're not sure yet, which is totally fine. if you don't immediately have strong feelings about it, though, maybe consider if band weaving strikes your fancy. this is pretty limited in size, but lets you weave belts, straps (like camera or bag straps), lanyards, etc.

if you think that sounds neat, it's worth looking into tablet weaving, an inkle loom, or a band/tape loom. tablet weaving takes up no space at all—if you can fit a stack of index cards into your life, you can fit tablet weaving. the tablets are small square cards, often made out of heavy cardstock, and even with a project on them, you can probably fit them into an index card holder.

inkle looms are larger, and to be honest i've never used one and don't know a ton about them, but they're also used for making woven bands. the looms can also be very aesthetically pleasing, if that's something you're into. they can be very big, but the ashford inklette, for example, is only 36 cm long and maybe 12 cm wide.

tape looms are—in my experience, anyhow—larger than tablet weaving but smaller than inkle looms, and even the larger ones are only about shoebox size. they vary widely, from gorgeous, complicated little looms to a handheld paddle that you use to create a shed, which is what you put your yarn through when you're weaving.

if that doesn't sound like good times, consider a frame loom. these are pretty simple—if you ever wove potholders out of stretchy cloth strips as a kid, you probably used a frame loom to do it on. frame looms are generally inexpensive and readily available, and can be used for small woven objects like potholders, coasters, placemats, etc. they can also be used to make some truly stunning tapestries. while you can buy a huge frame loom, you're still only talking about huge in two directions—it might be as wide as your armspan, but it's still only a couple inches thick.

another option is a pin loom. these don't get mentioned a lot, and i'm not totally sure why. pin looms are shapes with a bunch of pins (metal points, usually) coming out of them. on one hand, you're limited to making things that are the shape of the loom, but on the other hand, if you've been hanging around fibrecraft tumblr, you've seen all the things crocheters get up to with granny squares, right? there's no reason in the world that you can't do all those things with the squares made on a pin loom. or the hexagons! or the triangles! i've been kinda thinking about getting a little hexagon or triangle pin loom and using it to sample my handspun, then turning the shapes into a blanket.

if you hate all of that, that's ok! we have more options.

you could consider a backstrap loom, which is an ancient way of weaving that's still practiced today in many places. backstrap looms are cool because you can weave probably 24 inches wide on them, but even with a project on it, they take almost no room at all. backstrap looms are fairly easy to diy, because they're basically a bunch of dowels, so they can be a good low-cost way to try out weaving. backstrap looms will let you make longer, wider fabric than anything else we've mentioned so far!

another option—stay with me—is a toy loom. there are a number of cheap looms for sale on amazon/ali express/some local places that are actually fully functional looms. recently i've seen a number of people (like sally pointer, though i'm sure i've seen someone using one of the brightly coloured harness looms, as well) who've used them and report that they're functional, if basic, looms. you're fairly constrained in terms of project size, since there's not a lot of space for the finished fabric to wind on, and there's a very limited width, but the looms are quite small and tuck away easily.

ok, but so what if you hate all of those options? don't worry—there are more options! this is the part where things get expensive, though.

as looms go, rigid heddle looms are actually quite reasonably sized. i think the smallest one i've seen is a 40cm (~16") weaving width, which is about 50x60 (20x24") in length/width, and 13cm (5") high. so that's more space than anything else we've talked about, but it's still not a ton of space, you know? a 40cm rigid heddle will let you weave lovely scarves and things of that nature—table runners, placemats, strips of woven fabric to whipstitch together into a blanket, etc.

but maybe that's enough. so let's talk about table looms. some of them are quite large—mine, for example, is about a metre square and sits on a frame that it came with. it is not what you would call space efficient. but many of them, especially modern ones, are very compact, and can even be folded up into something more or less briefcase sized. (weird way to consider it, since the last time i saw a briefcase was probably the 80s, but you know what i mean, i bet.) the cool part here is that you can weave damn near anything you want on a table loom. the less cool part is that for the compact ones that fold up, you're looking at hundreds if not thousands of dollars. the smallest one i'm aware of is the louët erica, which folds down to 42x62x42cm (16.5x24.5x16.5") and gives you 40cm (16") of weaving width. i feel like that's impressively small. you'd have to decide for yourself if that's enough to justify the $500 usd/$800 aud price tag, though.

finally, we've come to folding floor looms. i don't think someone who's never woven before should run out and buy one of these unless money is just literally not at all a concern for you, but they are basically the dream for those of us trapped in crappy rentals, and it seemed weird to leave them out when i'd come this far.

some floor looms are various levels of collapsible. to be clear, this does you absolutely no good at all when you're actively weaving, because you have to unfold them to weave, but it does you a lot of good if you'd like to have a floor loom and still have the ability to, say, walk through the living room when you're not actively using the loom.

most relevant to our discussion about small weaving footprints, some looms fold up entirely. they are incredibly fucking expensive and incredibly fucking cool. the two that i'm most aware of are the leclerc compact and the schacht wolf line, both of which fold up to about half of their unfolded depth. they're still not small—i think that they're both the better part of 75cm (30") wide and tall, so even if they fold down to 40cm (16") deep, they're still 75cm wide and tall. which is Fairly Large, though much better than having something 80cm deep sitting in the middle of the floor.

this was a very, very long post, but hopefully makes it clear that there's a surprisingly wide range of options, and they all have advantages and trade offs. if you're asking my opinion, my suggestion would be to try something—anything—with a backstrap setup and see how you feel about it. maybe you love it and keep at it forever, in which case you're in good company: there are entire cultures that weave exclusively on backstrap looms.

if you like producing cloth but don't love the backstrap setup, or don't like using your body to tension the warp, you have a lot of other options, and you're out maybe ten dollars of dowels.

personally, my next loom is probably going to be a pin loom. unless i win lotto, in which case it's going to be a house that has a weaving studio and like four floor looms in it. but probably a pin loom.

Hi, I was wondering if you could please expand on why you think Mr. Darcy wouldn't say to Elizabeth "you have bewitched me body and soul"? I'd never really considered it before. Thank you! :)

Certainly, thanks for asking! I love talking about these things :)

I think it's firstly important to point out the context in which the word 'bewitched' is used in the novel. It's in chapter ten, when Elizabeth is staying at Netherfield. It occurs just after Darcy & Elizabeth have argued about Bingley's disposition and after Darcy invited her to dance a reel, which yielded the lovely exchange where Elizabeth says:

'I have, therefore, made up my mind to tell you, that I do not want to dance a reel at all—and now despise me if you dare.'

To which Darcy replies:

'Indeed I do not dare.'

The passage containing 'bewitched' immediately follows:

Elizabeth, having rather expected to affront him, was amazed at his gallantry; but there was a mixture of sweetness and archness in her manner which made it difficult for her to affront anybody; and Darcy had never been so bewitched by any woman as he was by her. He really believed, that were it not for the inferiority of her connections, he should be in some danger.

Although the word 'bewitched' itself does not necessarily have any negative connotations, with the benefit of hindsight, and of knowing what we do about how Darcy deals with his infatuation with Elizabeth, I would argue that in his case, his state of being bewitched by her is not a positive thing.

To highlight my point I'm going to use the definition provided by the Cambridge English Dictionary, which is as follows:

to attract or interest someone a lot so that you have the power to influence them:

to put a magic spell on someone or something in order to control him, her, or it

To deal with the first one, Elizabeth obviously influences Mr Darcy into changing his ways, that is pretty much the whole point of the novel! But I think bewitched has a certain connotation of being under a spell, and perhaps behaving involuntarily. I mean, I think we've all done cringeworthy things for people we've had crushes on that we can look back and laugh at, or perhaps shelled out silly money for concert tickets or bought more copies of an album or another thing because we're so 'bewitched' by the artist. I think that's quite common. But I don't believe that it's an accurate portrayal of the way Darcy loves Elizabeth.

Equally, did Darcy change solely due to his love of Elizabeth, or because she pointed out that he had come to embody so many things he loathed in others? I don't think that a man who spent as long sitting with his emotions and mending his ways as Darcy did, with pretty much zero expectation that he would ever see her again could have such behaviour being explained away as being 'bewitched.' She influenced him, yes, but he was compos mentis the entire time. He knew what he was doing, he did it willingly.

As for the second definition, I believe it's pretty undeniable that Elizabeth put a magic spell on Darcy. I mean, he was openly admiring her fine eyes fairly early on in their acquaintance. There was just something about her which attracted him. But he didn't truly know her as a person. He didn't even know her in Hunsford when he proposed. Darcy knew her so little that he thought she would be expecting such an offer, when in reality she disliked him.

It's almost as though, in his state of bewitchment, he dehumanised Elizabeth a little, and just saw her as the object of his desires, rather than as a living, breathing person with her own autonomy. He thought he loved her, but his emotions were not so deep as that. Darcy disliked so many things about her, including her family which she couldn't exactly change. I suppose, at that point, he loved the idea of her; he liked her wit and was attracted to her, but that isn't true love.

I think Darcy actually reflects on his past feelings towards her with this line, which I personally find infinitely more romantic, when he says at the start of chapter 60:

'I cannot fix on the hour, or the spot, or the look, or the words, which laid the foundation. It is too long ago. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun.'

To me, this definitely sounds like he was saying that he was in some way infatuated with her, but it is quite a detailed and lovely speech. And Darcy is always very deliberate with his words, he doesn't say whatever is on his mind unlike some people (looking at you Mrs Bennet/Lydia). It also comes after they've spoken about their respective thoughts and emotions following the letter and Lady Catherine's visit to Longbourn. It's clear they've sorted out their emotions, come to a deeper understanding and harbour a lot of mutual respect for each other.

In short, I have such an issue with him saying she has 'bewitched' him at the end because, while Mr Darcy was bewitched by Elizabeth at the beginning, his attraction to her caused him to almost dehumanise her and not consider her feelings; after her rebuke of him during the first proposal, he went away and voluntarily—no longer under any sort of spell or illusion—realised how wrong he was and genuinely altered his ways, while his feelings for her deepened into respect and true love.

So, while I understand why they used that particular word in the film, since it does occur in the novel, it's important to understand how changing when you use it in the course of the story can alter things quite dramatically, especially for their respective character arcs. And I think that line from Darcy about being unable to fix on the hour etc. is one of the most romantic in the entire novel, the fact that it never gets used in adaptations is a CRIME!

Well this was an essay. I realise I'm being intensely pedantic but, hey, I care about the little details :') and I'm not here to bash 2005. You won't see me do that here. I have my preferences but I can absolutely see why people enjoy it. Personally, I just adore the novel and the characters so much that these seemingly trivial things matter to me.

Ultimately, I think Austen was very deliberate in her choice of words and even just altering the tiniest thing can change the weight of them.

Invader Zim issue #40

This specific issue has a lot of things I don't see anyone touch on, so I'd like to :)

1. Zim and Dibs relationship across multiple universes

Already starting with a big one, I know. But this genuinely made me stop and scream. Zim and Dib are together in every universe they exist in. Enemies or friends, they are together. This also reminds me a bit of the zimvoid issues (which I haven't read yet,,, and frankly is a little nervous to!) I won't say anything about it yet because as I said, I haven't read the zimvoid issues yet and I don't wanna get anything wrong <_<;

This also reminds me of the canon (?) ending to invader zim, where in the end Zim and Dib are together. No matter what, in every universe, they always end up together. Destiny from across the galaxy, in every universe

2. Recap Kid

I just love recap kid in this issue, I always thought they were super silly and they are. I know this is quite the step down from Zim and Dibs eternal fate of bothering each other but whatever. Can we bring up how it's canon they write zadf fanfics? Or at least they have their own imaginary au

Invader Zim is such an intense hyperfixation for them they believe Zim and Dib are at the center of everything, and is genuinely upset at even the idea that they aren't,,, they are just like me you guys

Recap Kid was written to be a personification of the invader zim fandom,,, I think they did quite a good job

3. Time loop

The reveal of this universe ending as a time loop really stuck out to me, again, circling (hehe) back to them being basically together forever it really shows how much they care, even if they don't show it. Again and again, they try to one up each other. Continuing nonstop as if one of them will "win." This part of the comic intentionally has a deeper meaning, proved by Recap Kid not understanding

Another little detail I liked is how Dib has a ton of photos of Zim. Again, showing how much he cares. What type of care you can decide yourself. This also reminds me of how he has photos of Zim in his closet in the show

4. Parental Parallel

This issue explicitly says Zim has "parental issues" with the Almighty Tallest. Saying he craves attention, love and approval. It specifically says the words love and approval. Which reminds me of how Dib is with his dad, Professor Membrane. He also craves the same things Zim wants from the Tallest

That's wild cause this started as Sasha's idea. This started because Sasha went "what if Martyn didn't cut off Ren's head? And also wasn't kinda insane-" And it spiraled from there- Truly the parts I really fixate on are the Flower Ranchers and Desert Duo parts because GOOD LORD SASHA WANTED A LITTLE ANGST FOR DESERT DUO AND HURT ME IN THE PROCESS- I'm gonna put it in a keep reading break because Idk Who's gonna wanna read this besides you But I'll share everything I know/have thought about extensively for this AU and Sasha ( @pup-pee ) can correct me if Anything is wrong cause it's been a hot minute since I read over the doc fully.

So my contributions to this AU have been me writing a little fairy tale for the AU which kinda goes like this;

The Tale of the Lone soldier and the heart giver Once upon a time there was a lone soldier, one who was on the last of his hearts. His luck was not the greatest to say the least. Stabbed, drowned, burned, and shot, needless to say his lives were lost. He traveled far and wide to kingdom to kingdom, town to town, careful as one can be, as not to succumb to the finality of death. In the recent town he stopped at however, he met a girl. The girl had introduced herself as Amia, and they struck up a bond far too quick. The townspeople had opinions of her. Said she gave out love too freely, said she was on her last life due to how many lives she had given to others, anything they could say really. The rumor mills spun round and round, yet they did not deter the soldier from seeking her company at each and every oppurtunity. He was supposed to stay for but a week. A week turned to a month, then to half a year. Every day spending time in her company, and eventually becoming accepted by the town as one of their own. There was no doubt about it, he was smitten for her if he had chosen to stay for this long. They have had long conversations, and he had gotten some truths about her over drinks of wine. That yes she had been unlucky in love, men leaving her when she thought they had fallen for her just as she had done, but she was not on the last of her lives. She was on the second to last, and she would only give her heart to someone who was able to reciprocate it and was able to stay. "My heart has to be in it, and so does their's, if I'm to be reduced to my final life." She said so gently and earnestly, that it made the soldier's heart yearn so loudly. He was shocked she didn't hear how badly it yearned. It's a year when the lone soldier decided to stay in town that a horde of monsters showed up. The once lone soldier helps as best as he can, managing to help slay all the monsters, but in the process gets injured enough to where he is dying. Bleeding out on his last life, but at least the town is safe. Amia is safe. He can accept his death as long as they're safe. "You're not leaving me that easily." A gentle voice he's gotten to know over the past year says, and he swears she sounds like an angel in this moment. He's sure he's done for, that is until he feels warmth. He was expecting his final death to feel cold and unforgiving as it had been in the past, but it's warm and feels like a fresh breath of air in his lungs. He still slips from consciousness and fades from the world. He's surprised when he wakes up in his bed, with Amia sitting besides it, looking at him with teary eyes. "What happened?" The lone soldier asks, and Amia gives a smile. "I gave you my second life." "But that means..." "I am on my last yes, along with you." "Then I suppose we should stick together, to make sure neither of us loses our last life." "I would like that a lot." She smiles as she kisses the man who has decided to not leave her side. They lived their last life out together peacefully in the small town, side by side til the ends of their dying days. Happily ever after.

But I assume you already read that on the doc- I'm actually still really proud of it, because this fairy tale is supposed to be a tale of how the lives system works and how one can give one of their lives to someone they love. I think this love can be romantic, familial, or Platonic just as long as you love the person enough to be willing to give them a life. Also everyone has 5 lives, they used to have ten but the watchers figured that was too many once players started getting more crafty with how they were interacting with hostile mobs. Also Respawn Mechanics are in play so if you die and you're not on your last life you respawn where you last slept.

Also For the Desert Duo stuff (which is ofc what I hyperfixated on, I literally helped Jay figure out Scar's Deaths and how they met goddamn it), There is a bit where in one of the later acts, Scar does get decapitated just a bit- It's part of the reason why I wrote this fairy tale the way I did. BUT YEAH NO SCAR GETS DECAPITATED AND HE'S ON HIS LAST FREAKING LIFE AND GRIAN, BEING FORCED TO TAKE A LIFE FROM HIM AND STILL HAVING PRETTY MUCH ALL HIS LIVES (cause something something third life parallels, Owing Scar his first life cause he accidentally caused Scar to die one time to a creeper IT'S JUST SO-) JUST PRESSES A KISS TO SCAR'S FOREHEAD, HOLDING HIS CHEEK, TO TRANSFER A LIFE TO HIM AND THEN HAS TO CUT HIS GODDAMN HEAD OFF TO MAKE THE RED KING LET THEM TAKE MARTYN AND IT'S SOOOO- @cannimochi actually drew art of it that IDK if they want to share or not so I'll let them decide that but it is one of my favorite Desert Duo drawing of their's to date!! And so after That Grian is kinda in a haze and not sleeping because he feels guilty about decapitating Scar and Martyn is kinda concerned.

Don't worry though!! Scar comes back! Scar comes back to Monopoly mountain, Lilacs and poppies in hand, and apologizes for Putting him through that But Grian doesn't really care right now as he's Clinging to Scar so tightlyand telling him to Never have him do that again and because Scar is a menace he asks if this is about the flowers but Grian just frowns and goes “You know what I mean you big lug!”

It's then that Martyn lets the cat out of the bag that Grian hasn't been sleeping cause Martyn's a little shit and well well well can't have that! Despite his better judgement and how sore his body is from respawning and just general chronic pain of dying, He carries Grian to bed and we get these two things that I wrote:

Luckily for him Grian is light, ‘Hollow bones and all that’ the Avian had explained to him once before. Unluckily for him however, Grian is clinging to him so tightly at the moment that putting him down on the bed might be an issue. “Stay… please.” Grian quietly asks, and if he had any plans on leaving (he didn't), those are out the window now cause Grian said please. Scar can’t turn him down with that magic word.  “I wasn't planning on leaving G. I'm here.” Scar says and it seems to soothe Grian enough to loosen his grip so Scar can actually maneuver him out of his hold and onto the bed. 

Scar doesn't mean to fall asleep. Genuinely, one minute he was laid next to Grian just to make sure the other didn't freak out if he couldn't find him, and the next moment he was being woken up suddenly by a loud noise. If he had to take an educated guess, he would say it was probably TNT. He duly notes that something is over him now that does not feel like a blanket whatsoever, and that Grian is speaking. “What was that?!” He can hear clear as day, because the voice is coming from right next to him.  “Nothing! I just tried to fix one of your traps! Didn't go so well! Go back to bed, Grian!” He hears Martyn yell out, and he can hear confused squawk that Grian lets out at that. “Which one?!” “None of your concern! Go back to sleep!” “‘None of my concern’ he says! Those are my traps!”  “And they'll be there after you sleep G.” Scar says, as his arms tighten around Grian's waist. Does he know when he and Grian started cuddling while they were asleep? No, but it's not a bad thing he thinks. “But Scar-” “No buts Mister- It's sleeping time, and I don’t know about you but I’m tired.” Scar says, and is he laying it on thick? Probably, but it's not an exaggeration. He is tired, after the respawning and the long walk back to the mountain and the pain he has at the moment, he’s allowed to say he wants to go back to bed. Preferably with Grian, because those eye bags under his eyes are pretty concerning in Scar’s opinion. “...Fine.” “Good.”

They're still big wips and mainly just writing practice for myself but they are what I have- I also have what I think should be Desert Duo's first kiss in that AU but that's also just a silly one-shot of me using Jay's AU as a way to get myself to write- BUT YEAH NO APPARENTLY THEY EVENTUALLY GET ENGAGED AND/OR MARRIED WITH CURSE OF BINDING RINGS AND I THINK ABOUT IT WAY TOO MUCH- LIKE RAAAAA!!! There's also Scar and Grian actually talking about what happened but that's in Sasha's DMs so I'm not gonna go searching for those.

I saved Jimmy Solidarity in the AU CAUSE SASHA WAS JUST GONNA MAKE HIM DIE- Now he died via Rock to the head and woke up in Tango's ranch with Amnesia!! And Scott is searching so hard for his husband (even though they never got actually married.) and just they end up in a polycule and Jimmy is trying so hard to Court Tango and Scott's just giggling because he's already gone through this with Jimmy, oh his poor sweet boyfriend is trying so hard- JUST THEY LOVE EACH OTHER OKAY OKAY THEY GET PEACE-

How did you manage to handle not one, but FOUR separate accounts in fl? I recently made the account for my HD little guy but having to do the tutorial again just seems miserable

there's... weirdly several answers to that question, actually??

a HUGE part of it is due to the way FL is structured. the 10-minute action timer is a core part of the game on a fundamental level, and the fact that i can very easily run out of stuff to do on one character and thus have an excuse to quickly and easily swap to another is just... convenient? satisfying? i'm not entirely sure how to explain it. the fact that i can make progress even while i am fundamentally simultaneously Not Making Progress is like pure dopamine for my freak insane awful little brain. there's just something really pleasing about spending all of my actions pursuing The Goal Of The Day™ on one account before casually swapping to another and doing the same without feeling like i'm wasting time or acting to the first account's explicit detriment. the downtime helps! the recharge time helps! the structure really really works!!

i'm technically only actively playing three, maybe two accounts minimum. the only reason the fourth (the one that'll be my future BaL playthrough) currently exists at all is so i can get his earlygame completely out of the way now and not have to waste time running through it all later, when what i actually want to do is play the ambition i've made myself wait a full year to play. and also getting free goodies as seasonal stuff happens,, something something surprise tools to help us later. the only two accounts i'd say i'm really "actively playing" at the moment are caeru and lark- and of the two, lark takes the most priority, since his ambition is the one i'm currently pursuing in earnest. for a couple months now- despite being My Main FL Character- the scoundrel has actually been pretty inactive on a gameplay front outside of the occasional progression in TLC and discordance content. purely by virtue of having Very little left to do outside of Very long-term grinds and vanities. they're in their "now what?" "now you can start playing the game" era. they've graduated to previous protagonist background cameo in a sequel anime series. they're like the yin FLPC equivalent of red at the top of mount silver. they're Literally just vibing rn. i only keep posting about them regardless because i'm insane and i will never ever ever ever ever let that bat go. but yeah, big TLDR, outside of doing the bare minimum to keep making waves/notability up every week, i'm not actually spending that much time on accounts i'm not currently actively interested in playing. and that accounts for way more gaming spoons than you might think.

i have a virtually lifelong history of playing MMOs, especially and specifically world of warcraft. i was born in the endless grind for useless video game pixel vanities and/or bragging rights. molded by it. you all have merely adapted to doing the same piece of content a pointlessly excessive amount of times for literally no reason besides whimsy and folly. me? i've done my time. i've served my sentence. i've spent weeks doing the original burning crusade netherwing dailies. i've devoted days to running praetorium over and over and over again, back-to-back, nonstop, long before square enix cut it in half and made it NOT take at minimum an hour and a half per run. i've perfected my silverwastes + auric basin goldfarming strategies. i've (almost) crafted dragonwrath tarecgosa's rest. i've killed the sha of anger so many times its dying scream of agony is embedded into the very fabric of my being. ""only"" doing making your name content four times over? that is nothing to me. it means nothing to me. it is so infinitesimal i can do the persuasive seduction quests in my sleep. it's not a matter of handling misery, or having the capacity, or even sighing as i remember the brass embassy raid segment of the watchful questline seriously i don't know why i keep forgetting that exists or what even is my problem with it i just am so consistently mildly inconvenienced by it and its highly specific resource requirements and it is the worst thing ever. maybe i'm just so used to the scoundrel's near-infinite money and troves of disposable items that i've completely forgotten what being poor is like. despite having done that step 3 fucking times now. ahem. anyway. i have transcended the feeble mortal bindings of my resistant-to-grinding flesh and ascended to a higher plane of enlightenment, they may call me insane but they will be the ones left laughing when they see what that "insanity" has wrought, i've usurped them, i've usurped them all-

I read his book when I was a bit younger and I really related to how Tallpaw was feeling... And how I saw it, he and Shrewpaw were the same-

Which is why I CAN'T STANDDDD how much of Shrewclaw's character was wasted! The effect it would've had on the narrative if their parallels were acknowledged... Shrewpaw's mother, Brackenwing, dies in battle. He is young and grieving and angry, so he blamed Tallpaw. Spends every waking second patronizing him and telling him no one would care if he disappeared.

Tallpaw's father dies in a tunneling accident. He is young and grieving and angry, so he blamed Sparrow. He is so blinded by his anger that he leaves everything he's ever known behind to find him and kill him.

I just... There could have been that moment when he finally has Sparrow where he wants him, he could kill him, and he realizes:

"Oh. I'm Sparrow. Shrewclaw blamed me. He hated me, and it hurt me. Now here I am. Blaming, hating and ready to repeat the cycle and hurt someone else. I'm no better than him."

(On this note, I REALLY wish Sparrow had kits... can you imagine Talltail getting ready to kill him and realizing he is about to take away some kit's father... just like his was taken from him...?)

Honestly if he was handled better, Shrewclaw could have had a proper redemption. But I also really like the idea of Talltail going back to Windclan, realizing that Shrewclaw, while not direct childish bullying like before, still dislikes him and is bitter over the past. But this time, it doesn't bother him. He sees himself in Shrewclaw, and can look him in the eyes and see his own anger and bitterness reflected in them. But that's not who he is anymore...

When he sees Shrewclaw's death. Dying in battle trying to avenge something from so long ago... never living in the present with his brother, his mate and soon kits...

Talltail thinks: "That could have been me. That was me. I was going to trap myself in an endless cycle of hate and grief until it killed me."

Is it geologically probable for swallows rest to have basalt cliffs? Not really. Am i gonna headcanon it anyway? Of course.

Because I can picture Adrian and Victor walking along the beach, spending time waiting for lord vane to arrive. When all of a sudden Adrian comes to a dead stop in the middle of a sentence, staring at something ahead of them. Then he gasps, and gets so excited he forgets where he is, who he's with, and the collar around his neck, as he starts excitedly slapping Victor in the arm going, "Look, look, look, look--" at top speed.

Victor, who was primed for some kind of emergency since Adrian stopped talking is looking around frantically like, "What, what happened???"

Only for Adrian to point ahead and whisper-yell, "Basalt cliffs!!" And start booking it across the beach.

And yeah, maybe it painfully reminds Victor a lot of his younger self, and he's just about ready to remind Adrian of his manners as a priest, but then Adrian turns around to see if hes coming and the smile on his face is the most animated hes seen Adrian since he met him. And when he catches up he gets treated to a long winded ramble about crystal structure and volcanic activity and geologic hotspots and the Implications and how they could easily be the most ancient part of the island and erosion wear patterns and hes always wanted to see these in person cause they have them in northern ireland and and-- Its the most he's ever heard Adrian talk in one sitting.

And he supposes that having an appreciation for the wonders of the world that God made is perfectly acceptable for their profession, and lets him talk as long as likes.
