patched up
pairing: remus lupin x reader
summary: you help remus clean up after the full moon, reminding him once again how much he is loved, even if he thinks he is underserving
warnings: cuts, wounds, physical pain
a/n: all i write is hurt/comfort, and I'm not even mad
Remus sat on the old leather couch, a book in his hand that just couldn’t seem to grasp his attention. His free fingers traced small circles on your legs, which you had ungracefully thrown over his own as you lounged together in the living room. It was still early, just coming up for noon, you both were aware of the time. Even if the knowledge was unspoken.
It was the full moon tonight, and despite the routine that you both had become familiar with, the boy couldn’t shake the nerves that coiled and twisted inside of him.
You pretended not to notice what he was doing, glancing at the door every couple of minutes, waiting for the inevitable knock. James and Sirius would arrive any moment now, take him away, far away for yet another transformation. You were used to it by now.
One thing that was always constant was that they had always been there for him, he appreciated that, but he hated leaving you. Especially when you gave him that soft, reassuring smile. Like everything would be fine. Like everything was fine.
“Rem,” you spoke softly, catching those big, brown eyes. His body was tense beneath you.
“I’m alright, dove,” he gave you a weak smile, his fingers stopping their patterns to give your calf a light squeeze. “Just… you know.”
And you did know. Painfully so.
You nodded, understanding him completely. You were about to speak more, but were interrupted by the shrill ring of the doorbell. He stiffened even more at the sound. Hand stilling.
He sighed and closed the book, setting it aside. His gaze moved to the hand on your leg, not wanting to move it, wanting to keep the inevitable away for just a second longer.
“It’s time,” he tells you quietly, like he does every month. His voice carried a sadness that he couldn’t hide completely.
You place your hand on top of his own, your smile gentle but knowing. “I’ll be right here. Waiting for you to get back, okay?”
He stood up, pulling you with him, tall body towering over your own. He let his hand linger on the small of your back as you both headed to the front door. When he opened it, James and Sirius stood waiting outside, both smiling softly as they knew what was to come. The car behind them was still running, headlights cutting through the fog, casting a warm glow behind them.
“Hey, mate,” James begins, smiling up at Remus. “You ready?”
Sirius leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms over his chest, his usual smirk missing from his face. “We’re ready when you are,” he said. His voice light in an attempt to ease your boyfriend’s nerves. “If you need a breather before we go, just say the word.”
Remus shook his head, he would rather just get this over and done with, no more stalling. You could feel the stress in his body increase as the hand on your waist held on a little tighter.
Sirius, sensing the clear tension that settled heavily in the air, finally cracked a smile. “Don’t worry,” he waved his hand in front of him. “You’ll be back here with your girl before you know it.” He said, winking in your direction.
James also turns his attention to you, giving you a mock salute, “He is in safe hands, don’t you fret.”
“And we won’t allow him to get too grumpy when we return him,” Sirius added, side-eyeing the man standing next to you. Remus runs a hand over his face at their teasing.
You rolled your eyes and gave them a half-glare, happy that they were trying to keep things light.
“I trust you both,” you say, tone teasing but nonetheless truthful. “Bring him back in one piece.”
James nods. “You have our word.”
Remus lets out a small, grateful smile before turning his attention back to you. He tucks a strand of hair behind your ear, allowing his hand to linger on your cheek for a moment. “I’ll be back tomorrow evening, darling. I promise,” he tells you, his gaze was intense. The act of leaving you now was painful.
You leaned forward and hugged him tightly, his own long arms wrapping around you immediately. Secure and firm, he never wanted to let go.
“I know you will,” you whispered into his chest, voice muffled by his worn jumper. “I’ll be here.”
Remus reluctantly loosened his embrace, kissing your forehead gently as he allowed himself to linger.
“Thank you, sweetheart,” he murmured as he held your chin. Warm, tired eyes burrowing into your own. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” you say quickly. He already knew that but—god—did it feel good to hear you say it back. He turned towards the car behind him, giving you a small wave before climbing in.
Remus settled into the back seat as the other two slid into the front. He watched you as the car sped away, trying to push down the knots his stomach was tying. Sirius leaned back, tossing him a lighthearted grin from the passenger seat.
“Come on, Moony,” Sirius said, trying to help him relax. “It’s just another moon. We have done this hundreds of times now.”
"Another moon, another miserable night,” Remus grumbled, no longer having the will to fake a smile. You weren’t there anymore.
James glanced back from the driver’s seat, a sympathetic look now in his eyes. “You’ll be alright, mate. Besides, from the way you’re moping, I’d say you’re just lovesick.”
“Definitely lovesick,” Sirius said, nodding his head in agreement.
Remus sighed, staring out the trees flying past the window. “Yeah,” he said softly. “I am. I’m damn lucky to be.”
James and Sirius exchanged a quick, knowing look, but didn’t tease him further. Remus just wanted to get through this—so he could go back to the one person who made everything else worth it.
Remus tried his hardest to be silent when he entered, opening the door gently to lessen the loud creak, his movements were slow and heavy as he stepped inside. It was late—much later than he intended to be—every inch of his tired body screamed in protest at the slightest movement. He winced as a sharp pain shot through his ribcage, having to reach out and steady himself against the wall, closing the door behind him.
It had been bad this time. Really bad. James and Sirius had confirmed it, as if the fresh wounds couldn’t tell him that already. Their concerned faces still clear in his memory.
The cuts on his body were deep—deeper than usual—one stretching across his chest, another on his arm, and a particularly nasty one that covered the side of his face. He had no recollection of how he acquired them, but they offered a fresh reminder of what he was. What he could become.
He trudged up the stairs, each step more painful than the last, eventually making his way to the bathroom. He avoided the mirror, the last thing he wanted to see was his reflection—the scars, the bandages, the tired eyes that always seemed more hollow after the events of a full moon. He quickly redressed the lacerations on his torso, delaying touching the one on his cheek.
He didn’t want to see what it looked like, but he had no choice. He needed to change it. He would just have to do it fast.
Glancing up quickly, he caught a brief glimpse of himself. He felt the air knocked out of his lungs. Immediately he looked away, biting down another wave of familiar self-loathing that flowed through him.
He hated this—hated how he looked, how his body was always going to be a physical reminder of how cursed he was. How much of a monster he was.
With shaky hands, he removed a bandage from its plastic casing, placing it on his face as swiftly as he could. He pulled out a loose set of pyjamas and quickly slipped them on his aching body, just wanting to crawl into bed and pretend the previous night never happened.
He opened the door to your shared bedroom and paused in the doorway, taking in the sight of your sleeping figure. You were lying peacefully on your side of the bed, the soft rise and fall of your chest, the sound of your breathing drew him closer to you.
He paused before he got in, just standing there for a moment, taking you in, a bittersweet smile tugging at his lips for the first time in over twenty-four hours. He loved you. God, he loved you. The one thing in his life he would never get near his tribulation. The one thing that kept him going.
Carefully, he slipped in next to you, taking extra care not to rouse you. The ache in his arms flared up as he pulled back the heavy duvet, but he forced himself to ignore it. After all, what was a little discomfort when he could be close to you?
He shuffled closer, wincing at the pain that shot through his muscles, but it appeared to melt into the background as he felt your warmth permeate his skin.
For a moment, he was content just laying there next to you, watching you sleep. If you were awake you would probably call him a creep. He stifled a chuckle at the image that formed in his mind.
His heart ached—not from the wounds or exhaustion he had sustained, but from the overwhelming combination of emotions he felt for you. He hoped you were sleeping well, lord knows he wouldn’t be. Not with the soreness that was coursing through his drained body, but his own well-being didn’t concern him right now. What mattered was that he was here, with you.
With a soft sigh, he gently pulled your sleeping form closer to him, his arms trembling slightly with the strain. The throbbing in his chest flared up again, but he ignored it. Instead, he buried his face in your hair and let the steady sound of your breathing soothe him. He kissed the top of your head, whispering into the silent room.
“I’m home, love,” he murmured, voice almost inaudible as sleep began to pull him under. “Promised I would be.”
The first thing you felt when you stirred was a familiar warmth, strong arms wrapped around you, and for a brief moment, your heart swelled with relief. He was back. He always came back to you. But every time he managed to crawl back home you couldn’t help but worry if it would be worse than the last time. You shifted slightly, turning in his embrace in order to get a better look at him—that’s when you noticed.
The fresh bandages, hastily applied, peeked out from his long sleeve, another covering the side of his face. You ached for him at the sight of them. You pulled your arms from beneath the duvet, reaching out to touch the dressing. Your fingers hovered just above it, pausing mid-air as you stopped yourself. The last thing you wanted to do was hurt him more. You didn’t know what lay beneath them.
You wriggled out of his hold, taking additional time and care so as to not wake the man sleeping soundly next to you. He needed the rest. You were certain he would be in pain as soon as he rose, and as much as the idea of staying in his arms sounded heavenly, you decided to make yourself useful.
Padding quietly to the kitchen, odd socks on your feet, you grab two cups from the cupboard above your head. You had to go on your tiptoes to reach them. Usually, Remus would insist on getting them for you—he had once seen you clamber up onto the counter and it nearly gave him a heart attack—but he was preoccupied today.
The kettle bubbled softly as you pulled out the jar of tea, along with the packet of biscuits—chocolate, of course, his preferred choice. You prepared it in the way he taught you, letting it brew for a good couple of minutes before removing the teabag, pouring in a healthy glug of milk. You returned to the bedroom, steaming mugs in hand and the packet of biscuits under your arm.
The brunette began to stir at the soft crackle of plastic as you placed the treats on the bedside table, holding your own mug close to your chest as you sat on the floor beside the bed. You watched his eyes as they fluttered open.
“Hey,” you whispered, tilting your head to the side to look at him horizontally. “How are you feeling?”
He winced as he shifted over, his body still unbearably sore. His tired eyes met yours, and despite everything, he managed to give you a faint smile. It was hard not to when you looked at him like that.
“I’ve been better,” he replied, his voice husky with sleep.
You shook your head at his attempts to downplay his clear discomfort, trying to mask the worry in your eyes that was surely present.
“I made you tea,” you gesture to the cup next to you, pale wisps dancing around the top of it. He liked it hot, straight from the kettle. It amazed you how he could handle drinking it so fast. “And your favourite.”
“I’m a lucky man,” he said as he sat up, voice slightly strained as he finished his sentence. He reached out and dipped the biscuit in his mug, making a sound of relief as he popped it into his mouth, allowing the rich flavour to melt over his tongue.
He took a sip of his tea, sleeve rolling up slightly as he leant over, bandage visible. You didn’t want to mention how poorly they had been applied, you didn’t want to remind him. But it had to be done, for his sake.
“Rem,” you began gently, not wanting to upset him. “You need to change those.”
Immediately, he stiffened, his body pausing mid-sip. He loathed this part—being looked after and the vulnerability that came with it.
“Do I?” He muttered, voice lacking the spark it had when he woke up, clearly embarrassed at your statement.
You nodded solemnly, cringing at the discomfort in his eyes. “It might get infected,” you tell him. “You’re tired. Let me help you, please?”
He hesitated for a moment, an internal battle occurring in his head, before giving you one of his kind smiles. “Alright,” he responded, trying to keep the sadness from his voice. “Can I finish my tea first?”
You giggled, worry easing just a little. “Of course,” you say, nodding your head. “We’ll do it after.”
He placed his soon-empty cup on the side next to him, sighing heavily as he nodded to you. “Alright, love,” he said reluctantly. “I’m ready.”
You stand up slowly, reaching out to take his hesitant hand, leading him towards the bathroom. He traced your knuckles with his thumb as you both continued down the hallway. When you opened the door, he immediately hopped up on the counter silently. Ignoring the mirror and instead choosing to look down at his lap.
The first aid kit was under the sink, a pack that you always kept fully stocked. You quickly grabbed it before returning to your place in front of him, standing in between his spread legs. Your heart felt heavy at how exhausted he looked. How broken. But you refused to let him see that. He didn’t need to worry about you being worried about him. He had enough to deal with as it is.
“Can I take your jumper off?” You ask him softly, afraid of raising your voice. You needed to take care of him, and from the looks of it, he wanted to be as far away from this situation as possible.
His eyes left his lap and locked with yours. For a second, he looked as though he might say something, but instead, he just nodded. Words seemingly too hard to form right now.
You tried to keep your hands steady as you reached out, gently pulling the fabric over his head, keeping the material as far away from his body as you removed it. You folded up the material and placed it to the side, allowing him to get more comfortable with his bare skin showing before you gave him your attention again. But nothing could have prepared you for what you saw.
Bandages—there were so many of them, scattered haphazardly across his torso and arms. Each one was a significant reminder of what he had been through the previous night. You swallowed hard, putting on a brave face as you knew he was watching your every movement.
“You ready?” You asked, needing verbal confirmation as you knew this was going to hurt. Not just him, but yourself as well.
His lips twitched up into a half-smile, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “Ready as I’ll ever be,” he quipped, trying to take the edge off, but the pain was clear in his low voice.
You peeled off the dressings, not earning a large reaction from the boy sitting in front of you. Most of them had become unstuck as he slept, making your job easier. You reached for the cloth and antiseptic, deciding to start with the easier gashes first. Your touch was diligent and gentle as you cleaned him, dabbing carefully at the blood and dirt that clung to his skin.
He must have been shattered last night to skip this. That fact made you even more determined to fix this. To fix him. You couldn’t offer much, but you would do whatever you thought would help. Every few minutes, you’d glance up, wordlessly checking on him. Waiting for the swift bob of his head as he urges you to keep going.
“Am I hurting you?” You knew the answer already, but you needed to know how much.
“Only a little,” he lied, a faint smirk appearing on his face. “I’ve been though worse, dove.”
You roll your eyes at his ill attempt of humour, but at least he was able to crack a joke. That was a good sign.
“That doesn’t make me feel better,” you murmered as you pressed down on a particularly nasty cut, earning a small hiss from him. You hurried up when you heard the noise, not wanting to be the one behind his torture.
Finally, you turned your attention to the injury on his face, the angry red line that ran from his collarbone all the way up to his cheek. The sight of it yanked at your heartstrings and you knew you failed to mask your reaction, his body stiffened. Eyes darting away from yours as he attempted to look away. You caught his chin before he could withdraw into himself, forcing him to look at you.
Big, doe eyes filled with guilt, shame even, and it devastated you. He cleared his throat with a sharp cough, his voice gravely. “You shouldn’t have to do this,” he muttered, gaze dropping again despite the grip on his chin. “You shouldn’t—have to take care of me like this.”
You removed your hold on him, allowing both of your hands to continue working, dabbing gently as his mouth curled at the stinging sensation. “Remus,” you whispered, your voice filled with compassion. “I want to take care of you. I love taking care of you.”
He shook his head slightly, the conversation paining him more than your actions. “You’re too good to me,” he tells you, his voice monotone as if he was just speaking a fact. “Look at me, darling. I’m—I’m a mess.”
You smiled at the angelic boy in front of you and placed a kiss on his cheekbone, just above the cut. He really couldn’t see what you saw. What his friends saw in him. How he treated you all. He was the most selfless person you had ever met, going above and beyond for each and every person he cared for.
It wasn’t a skill that could be taught. It was innate. It was Remus. Always had been.
“You’re not a mess,” you say firmly. “You are mine. I love you—every scar, every mark, every part of you.”
You saw his throat bob as he swallowed, his eyes slightly glassy as he stared at you. He always struggled to allow people to give him affection, not believing he deserved it. He didn’t know where to put all the love you gave him. He always felt unworthy of it.
But in that moment, just the two of you in the cramped bathroom, illuminated by the small ceiling bulb. It felt right. Your fingers brushing over his scars, some fresher, some older, he thought maybe…just maybe. It would all be alright.
You finish the last dressing, smoothing it over his skin with the same tenderness you treated all the others. “All done,” you tell him, feeling proud of your handiwork.
Remus lets out a relieved chuckle at your pride. “I’d say you’ve missed your calling, love. Should’ve been a nurse.”
“Oh yeah?” You laugh, feeling the tension leave the room. “Maybe I’ll change careers.”
“I take it back,” he says quickly, eyes softening with affection. “I want you all to myself. I’m selfish.”
“Well, you’re in luck. I have the whole of today off,” you say, throwing the used bandages and their wrappers into the bin by the door. “We can do whatever you want.”
He raised an eyebrow, your words tempting him. “Anything?”
“Yep, anything at all,” you nod at him. “Within your...physical capabilities,” you quickly add. There is no way that would be happening in his condition.
“Well you’re no fun,” Remus frowns playfully, mischief still swimming in his eyes. “But I’m sure I can come up with something riveting for the both of us.”
You put your hands on your hips, assuming a determined stance. “I’m ready for whatever you’ve got in mind.”
He hums, pleased with your statement, lowering himself down from the counter and pulling his jumper back on. Grimacing as it brushes his skin. He motions for you to follow him into the living room, watching as he winces as he sits down on the couch, his face briefly tightening in pain. But then, true to form, he opens his wide arms and looks at you expectantly. “Come on then.”
You go to take a step forward but hesitate. You would love nothing more than to drape yourself over him, but the sight of his bandages stops you. “I don’t want to hurt you…”
A look of warmth crossed his face, shaking his head with a tender smile. “It’ll hurt more if you don’t let me hold you, darling. Come on.”
You can’t help but melt at his kind words, you gently ease yourself onto the couch, mindful of his injuries and not putting your full weight on him. His arms encase you instantly, pulling you impossibly closer despite the clear discomfort it caused him.
“You’re stubborn, you know that?” You scold him, your cheek resting on his chest, mindful of the dressing on the opposite side.
“Stubborn? No.” He quips, pressing a kiss to your temple. “Hopelessly in love? Maybe.”
You giggle, feeling his chest rise and fall beneath you in a steady rhythm. “A bit of both, I think.”
It’s his turn now to chuckle, his tired bones relaxing further into the soft cushions. “You might be right.”
You both just lie there in a comfortable silence, the sound of the world beginning to wake up outside only added to the ambience. He was at peace with you In his embrace, glancing down at you as you gazed at him softly. Fingers tracing gentle circles on an unharmed piece of his chest.
“So…” you begin, continuing your motions. “Any grand ideas for today?”
He shakes his head, stopping to meet your eyes, lips curling into a lazy smile. “Honestly? Just this. Just you.” His voice is playful but his words have never been more true. “Don’t need anything else.”
“Smooth,” you say sarcastically, suppressing a smirk of your own.
“I’m serious, love,” he chuckles. “I can’t think of a better way to spend today.”
Your heart soared at his words, you carefully shifted to cup his face. “I don’t plan on going anywhere.”
He pushes himself further into your palm, eyes closing for the briefest of moments, his hand coming up to cover your own. “Have I mentioned that you’re too good for me?” He tries to make it sound like a joke, but the familiar self-doubt can still be heard in his voice.
“Unfortunately, far too much,” you playfully glare. “You stubborn man.”
He reopens his eyes, now filled with an overwhelming amount of affection. It almost takes your breath away.
“Then I’m sure you’ve heard me say how lucky I am as well,” he teases, his expression never faltering.
“I’m the lucky one,” you grin cheekily, brushing back a stray lock of hair from his forehead. “My boyfriend makes an excellent cup of tea.”
“Is that all I’m here for?” He asks in mock offence, pulling you flush against him, despite the twinge of pain it caused. “Keeping me around for my tea-making skills?”
“Exactly,” you nestle your head against him.
At that moment, everything felt right to him. Just the two of you, safe, together. Nothing else mattered to him apart from the girl in his arms. He knows the pain will linger—the scars, the transformations, all of it. But with you—his anchor—it feels just about bearable. And for the first time in a long time. He allows himself to feel hope. The hope of your future together.

heyyyy I’m just so in love with how you write Barty so I wanted to do two request if that’s okay! B6 and D8 (if it is with the series you already making even better!) and I love your writing I so much🤍🤍
hi lovie, thank you for your support<3 i've already written for both of these prompts, so i kinda reworked this, but kept the general vibe of sleepiness and fluff and the dynamic
Words: 2k
Warnings: not proofread, fem!reader, use of y/n, remus pov near the full moon so joint aches and lots of anxiety, breaking curfew, I Need Everyone Near Where I Can Protect Them mindset, some minor suggestive quips, background wolfstar, just fluff really
Note: part of the grumpy!reader universe, set after the reveal to friends in and what about it?, but can be read as a stand alone drabble<3
The nearer the full moon crept, the deeper Remus’ protectiveness seemed to root itself into his heart, spreading out into his bloodstream. A wolfish instinct, if you could call it that, to keep his pack close. If his friends were out of his line of sight or, even worse, out of reach for his smell, anxiety burst through Remus’ body until he was left jittery and dizzy.
That left him in the Gryffindor common room, a good 20 minutes after curfew on a Thursday evening, leg bouncing restlessly as he watched the portrait hole with hollow eyes.
Sirius beside him had a hand on his knee, originally intended to quell its tremor, and once he realised that would not happen, it remained there as a support. The black haired boy seemed largely unbothered by everything, but the tension in his body betrayed him – though Remus was growing suspicious he was worried about something entirely different than he was. Namely, about him.
Across from them, James was draped over a grandfather chair, head repeatedly falling as he nodded off before he jerked himself back awake.
“How much longer are we going to stay here, Moons?” he managed to get out in between yawns, already worn out from quidditch practice earlier.
“Until our friend is safe in bed.” Remus squared his shoulders haughtily, leaving no room for argument. Then, “Where is she?” he muttered to himself, so quietly Sirius only barely caught it and had to fight back his sympathetic coo.
“Y/N is fine, baby,” he whispered, the hand on his knee shaking it slightly. “It’s not the first time she’s staying out late. Hells, we do it all the time, too!”
And Remus knew that. Of course he knew that. Every other time of the month, that knowledge would have allowed him to shake his head fondly at your antics, heading off to bed excited to hear about your adventures tomorrow.
Alas; this was not any other time of the month.
“I should go find her,” Remus thought out loud, groaning as he got up from his seat too quickly and his joints gave various sounds of complaint.
“Moony, there is no need–” Sirius started before cutting himself off, apparently thinking better. “My love, if there is anyone who can navigate Hogwarts after dark, it is that minx. The shadows would be scared off by her glare alone. And she won’t appreciate your interruption of whatever she is off doing now.”
“Or who,” James whispered through his sleepiness, horror seeping into his voice.
Sirius’ groan at the thought mirrored him. “Merlin’s beard, yeah, she’s probably off with Junior.”
“I don’t think I will ever get used to hearing that.” James righted himself slightly in his chair, dragging his hands up and down his face, failing at ridding it of sleep.
Remus, still standing, turned his hands outward in a dejected position. His friends’ derailing seemed to be of little notice to him. “But we don’t know. I need to know.”
“Rem,” Sirius whispered in that unbearably soft voice Remus thought himself the luckiest boy in the world to have directed at him. He got up from his seat, hands settling on Remus’ waist, both for comfort and for steading him, he suspected. “She is alright. She always is. And, whether I quite like it or not, if she is with Junior, she is double-y safe. If nothing else, that maniac is protective.”
Remus nodded, allowing himself some comfort as he gazed into Sirius’ silver eyes. “Yeah, she is, I know she is.”
A small, knowing smile tugged at Sirius’ lips. “But?”
“But I’m going to go get her.” Remus’ heart clenched a little in humiliation at how deep the wolf’s streak ran in him in these days, but he also would not let any discomfort get in the way of having his whole pack at home in their nests, where they belong. You can continue your adventures tomorrow.
“Yeah, I know you are,” Sirius relented, pulling Remus into a quick, squeezing hug to ground him. “I’ll go get the map and the cloak and we’ll go.”
Before Sirius could finish his sentence, Remus had accio’d both into his hands.
“No, that’s alright, I’ll go myself.” When Sirius looked like he was about to argue, Remus waved his wand a little in his face as if to say down boy. “As Head Boy, I can get away easier with being out past curfew – you on the other hand, would be shackled up in Flich’s basement before you could get a word out.”
“I have been out past curfew without being caught before, Moons,” Sirius guffawed in true Sirius-offence.
“Not when picking up one of your best friends from nighttime adventures with one of your least favourite people.” Despite his anxiety and tire, Remus shot Sirius a wink and a small grin that told him I know you, Pads.
Sirius sat back down on the sofa with a huff, crossing his arms petulantly. “Be quick, or I’ll be the grumbly wolf.”
Remus bent down – biting back a small groan as his hip objected – and pressed a wet smooch to Sirius’ forehead and ruffled his hair. “You already are, love.”
When Remus walked towards the portrait hole, map and cloak in hand, he passed a snoring James with his mouth agape. He had a creeping sensation that by the time he came back, Sirius would have woken the poor boy by poking his finger into his mouth.
Cloak around him for extra measure, Remus silently slid down the halls of Hogwarts, fumbling the map open to find you. Just as suspected, a small Y/N L/N was in the astronomy tower with a certain Bartemius Crouch Junior, foot steps almost on top of each other.
He almost cursed his friend for choosing her romantic get-away spot at the top of such an awful amount of stairs before he remembered the spell you had crafted for him with Madam Pomfrey just a few weeks back. You had dedicated your free time to inventing solutions for Remus’ different aches – “what’s the point of magic if not to make your life easier, Moons?” – and while this one was still a work in progress, it allowed the field of gravity around his legs to be lifted enough to take some of the pressure off his poor joints. It worked way better than the countless amounts of times James and Sirius had tried to wingardium leviosa him to class.
As he neared the door that your names were sheltered behind on the map, Remus’ nose was appeased as your familiar scent once more flooded him. Barty’s too, for that matter, and though that was a less welcoming one, Remus had come to find he didn’t much mind it either.
However, he did not hear voices, which puzzled him. Nor any other sounds that perhaps would have had him turning around.
With a careful hand, Remus opened the creaking door to the very top of the astronomy tower, peaking his tawny curls through the opening and trying to behave as a normal concerned friend and not an anxious, possessive wolf.
“Lupin; to what do we owe the displeasure?”
The voice had all of its usual crass wittiness, but an eight of its usual volume. In the wide windowsill across from Remus, the one that had a view of most of Hogwarts’ grounds, sat Barty propped up with a few pillows and you, sleeping soundly on his chest.
One arm was held protectively around you, his free hand carding gently through your hair. Your face was slightly smushed against his chest, breathing soft and steady.
Remus doubted he had ever seen you look so serene. It almost made him feel bad for interrupting. Almost.
“Good evening to you too, Junior,” he whispered, as he slowly made his way through the room and over to your sleeping form. He swore he could see Barty tighten his grip on you.
“Should a Head Boy be breaking curfew like this? What would good old Albus say?”
“Well, when a member of his house doesn’t come home at night, I believe it is a Head Boy’s duty to come fetch them.” Remus tried to seem unbothered, not wanting Barty to know just how anxious he gets when his friends are apart. “Albus would certainly approve.”
Barty hummed, looking from him and down at you. The soft smile that played over his lips did not escape Remus. “I would argue she is home.” Barty’s voice was teasing, but it felt quite real for Remus.
“Is that where your relationship is at now?” There was no teasing in Remus’ voice, just soft curiosity. Support, even, though he could never tell Sirius that.
Barty’s eyes flickered up from you again, facing becoming a bit more stoney as he realised his own sleepiness was making him a tad more soft than he wanted to be in front of the Gryffindor.
“Whatever. Well, as you can see, she’s safe. So you can sod off again.”
“She should come back to the dormitories, Junior. I’m sure she wasn’t planning on spending the night sleeping in a stony windowsill, that can’t possibly be comfortable at length.”
“Firstly, she is mostly sleeping on top of me right now and I’ll have you know I am super comfortable,” Barty quipped, eyeing Remus. “Secondly,–” a breath “– no, she wasn’t planning on sleeping here, but she did fall asleep. So.”
Remus nodded slowly as he read between the lines, trying to fight his small smile at Barty’s expense – he was sure he would not have appreciated it. “You don’t have the heart to wake her.”
Barty scoffed, but his eyes betrayed him. He was caught. “I don’t have a heart period, Lupin.”
“But?” Remus asked, amusement lining his voice in a way he realised mirrored how Sirius spoke to him earlier. Knowingly, affectionately.
“But look at her, Lupin. I can’t wake her.” While speaking, Barty seemed to gesture towards your sleeping form with the nod of his jaw, refusing to move his hands from where they were drawing circles on your back and playing with your hair.
Remus hummed in agreement, smile officially bursting free of his hold.
“Oh, sodder off,” Barty grumbled as he saw Remus’ expression, but there seemed to be little to no malice in his voice.
“Sorry, sorry,” Remus laughed softly, careful not to wake you with their conversation. “Just… this was not what I expected to happen three years ago when James confessed his feelings for Regulus to me.”
Barty seemed to scowl at the thought of his best friend and his Gryffindor. “They’re disgusting.”
“Yeah,” Remus said fondly. “And so are you two. Ain’t it great?”
Barty grumbled, hand in your hair stilling to hold the back of your head. “I’m still not waking her up for you.”
“No need. If you’re careful with shifting her, you could carry her back to the dorms with me.”
“You want me to carry her all the way to Gryffindor?” Barty asked incredulously, looking at Remus as if he was stupid. “I appreciate you noticing my spectacular biceps, but that’s just not happening.”
Remus’ eyes twinkled. “Actually, I’ve got just the spell to make it easier for you.”
And so, Barty carefully shuffled you in his arms while Remus had his wand aimed at the both of you, helping ease the gravity off your form so that it would both be easier for Barty to carry you and for you to continue sleeping.
When you were bridal style in his arms, you shifted a little, burying your face further into his neck. “Sorry, Treasure,” he whispered, pressing a quick kiss to your hairline.
“Fuck off, Junior, let me sleep,” you whined, growing comfortable and tired once more. Remus had to fight not to laugh loudly.
“It’s not my fault, the cops showed up to end our fun.” Barty looked at Remus conspiratorially, who only rolled his eyes in return, as he led the way back to Gryffindor.
“Stop saying stupid things and let me sleep, baby.” Your voice was already drifting off once more and Barty grinned widely at your slurred words.
“Yes, ma’am.”
It amazed Remus how much this boy loved being insulted by you. Your perfect match, evidently.
As you drifted back to sleep, and the closer your little trio got to the common room where his partner and best friend were waiting, the more Remus’ nerves seemed to settle. Everyone is where they should be.

1.5k
Warnings: kinda toxic!remus like hes just a bit of a prick in this, n this is not a good example of a good relationship. a whole load of sex, daddy kink, choking, smoking and the like. as always minors dni and wrap it before you tap it. Enjoy!
“Remus, you know I hate it when you smoke like that.” Y/N said, looking over to her boyfriend that was chain smoking cigarettes on the balcony of their apartment.
“And I hate it when you nag at me about it, love.” he replied, tapping ash into the ashtray next to him, “yet, you continue to do it.”
“I’m just worried about you. There’s no need to jump down my throat about it.” she scowled, turning around and taking a large sip from her coffee.
“God forbid I want to do something that calms me down when the full moon is soon,” he stubbed his cigarette out harshly, as if to make a point, the glass ashtray rattling against the table with the sheer force of it.
“Oh, grow up, Remus,” Y/N spat, the grip on her mug tightening as she spoke, “You act like you’re still a fucking teenager sometimes.” She walked over to the kitchen and slammed her mug down on the counter. She hated it when he got like this. The days leading up to the full moon made Remus impossible. He was constantly tired and grumpy. He didn’t have a great temper at the best of times but the full moon only heightened it. It also didn’t help that Remus not sleeping meant that Y/N hadn’t been sleeping, resulting in them both being extremely irritable.
She heard his footsteps approaching the kitchen and swiftly made an exit, shutting herself in their bedroom.
“You can’t avoid me all day, darling.” he called out. Even though she couldn’t see him, she just knew that he had that cocky grin on his face. The one that made her feel weak at the knees. The same grin that Remus knew could get him out of anything. They could be arguing and he would flash her that smile and it was as if she couldn’t be mad at him anymore. It infuriated her that he knew exactly how to get her. Y/N sighed, knowing that he was right and opened the door.
Remus was stood on the other side, leaning against the doorframe, cigarette hanging from his mouth.
“See? I knew it wouldn’t take you long to come around,” he grinned.
“It’s like you’re purposefully trying to wind me up today. I fucking hate it when you smoke inside,” she sneered, “and you can wipe that fucking grin off your face as well.”
“Aw, don’t be like that, baby.” he smirked, leaning back against the wall and taking a drag of his cigarette. “You’re getting all upset over nothin-.”
He didn’t even have chance to finish his sentence before Y/N had stormed off. She made it all of five steps before Remus swiftly grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.
“Don’t fucking walk away from me when I’m talking to you.”
“Talking?” she let out a laugh, “You’re such a condescending prick sometimes, you know that?”
“And you’re a whiny, little, brat sometimes.” he barked, his voice significantly louder now.
“Fuck you.”
As fast as lightning Remus had flipped them round so that Y/N’s back was pressed against the wall. Remus had one had above her head, bracing himself on the wall as he towered over her. The grin that was plastered on his face had disappeared. His jaw was clenched and his lips were pressed into a line.
“You need to watch your fucking mouth before I have to do something about it,” he said roughly, his fingers tangling in her hair.
“Oh, really?” she retorted, “what are you gonna do about it?”
Just as quickly as he did before, he flipped them back around and roughly shoved her down on to her knees. Y/N let out a gasp as her knees hit the floor and she looked up at her boyfriend.
“What? Cat got your tongue?” Remus goaded, the infamous smirk back on his face.
“Not at all,” Y/N smirked back at him, reaching up to unzip his jeans. Remus smiled down at her as he leaned against the wall. Y/N took his dick out and eagerly put it in her mouth.
“Atta girl,” Remus grumbled, taking a cigarette out of his pocket and lighting it, “Look so pretty down there with my cock in your mouth.”
He took a drag of his cigarette while she sucked him off, lazily grabbing a handful of her hair to keep her in place. Letting out a groan, he leaned his head back against the wall, cigarette hanging from his lips as her began fucking her mouth.
“That’s it, baby. Can’t whine with my cock in your mouth, can you?” he chuckled darkly, “Jus’ what little brats like you need, isn’t it?”
Y/N looked up at him, tears streaming from her eyes. Remus pulled himself out of her mouth. Her lips were swollen and drool was running down her chin.
“Fuck, you’re so fucking gorgeous,” Remus whined, “Gonna be a good girl and let me fuck that pretty pussy of yours, yeah?”
“Remus, pleas-”
“S’not my name, baby.”
“Please, daddy.” she whined
He smiled down at her smugly and scooped her up in his arms, carrying her into the bedroom. He threw her roughly on the bed, and she scrambled to remove her clothes, throwing them in a heap on the floor. Remus followed suit, his belt dropping to the floor with a clatter as he threw his jeans down. Y/N was spread out on the bed, looking at him needily as he stood over her. Remus dropped to his knees at the edge of the bed, grabbing her ankles and dragging her down the bed roughly so that her core was level with his face.
“Dripping already, baby?” he mused, “Haven’t even touched you yet. If I knew you’d get this turned on just from sucking my cock, I’d have you do it more often.”
“Can you stop being a cocky little shit and just fuck me already,” Y/N moaned.
Remus looked at her, grin instantly disappearing from his face.
“You just don’t learn, do you?” he snapped, “always have to be such a brat.”
Pulling her underwear to the side, he plunged two fingers inside of her, drawing a sharp gasp from her lips. If there was one thing about Remus, it was that he knew exactly what to do to get his girlfriend going. He knew exactly how to make her tick and he prided himself on the fact that he could bring her to the edge in a matter of minutes. He licked at her clit as he pumped his fingers inside of her, smirking against her as he listened to her moans.
“Please, daddy, I’m close, I’m-”
He withdrew his fingers abruptly, wiping them on her thigh. Y/N let out a loud gasp.
“You fucking dick.” she groaned.
“Watch your fucking mouth. I won’t tell you again.”
“I just need yo-”
He cut her off, quickly removing her panties and shoving them in her mouth. Y/N whined in protest, her eyes widening in shock.
“I won’t tell you again. You better keep those in that pretty mouth until I tell you to take them out, understand?” she nodded in response.
“Good girl.”
Remus positioned himself between her legs, looking down at her as he lined himself up. With one fluid motion he was inside her, letting out a deep groan as he felt her clench around him.
“Feel so fucking good baby. Take my cock so well.”
He wasted no time and began fucking into her roughly. His hips snapping against her at a quickening pace. Y/N’s moaned were like a drug to him and he couldn’t get enough. He thought that she sounded so pretty when she was whimpering underneath him, the panties in her mouth feebly trying to stifle her moans. She reached up to wrap her arms around him, legs trembling as she chased her high. He grabbed her wrists and pinned them above her head with one hand. He smirked as she clenched around him, her moans getting louder and louder.
“You close, baby?” he asked, looking down at the girl laying beneath him. Y/N nodded frantically and moaned through the makeshift gag. He thrust into her roughly a few more times before pulling out of her again. “Didn’t think I’d let you cum that easy, did you?”
He reached down pulling the panties from her mouth and tossing them on the floor. He manoeuvred her roughly so that she was on her knees with her face pressed against the mattress. Once again, he entered her, grabbing handfuls of her arse as he fucked her. He smacked his hand against the flesh sharply, earning a loud moan from Y/N, and leaving a large hand print on her skin. Remus’ thrusts became more sloppy as he reached his own climax, reaching round to pull Y/N up so her back was flush against his chest.
“Want you to look at me when you cum, baby. Gonna come on my cock, yeah?” he said gruffly.
“Y-yes, daddy.” she let out a strained moan, “so close.”
Her eyes all but glazed over as she reached her peak, seeing stars as she clenched around him. Remus wrapped a hand around her throat, holding her in place as he fucked into her. Letting a strangled moan, came inside her, her body going limp against him.
“Fuck.” she gasped.
“You okay?” he asked, collapsing on the bed and pulling her towards him.
“More than okay.” she smiled, her eyes fluttering shut as she snuggled into him.

Can I please request Sirius Black being comforted when he's depressed and being looked after by his wife, the reader, during the events of Order of the Phoenix? Can be dot points, a fic, i don't mind! thanks xoxo
Y/N has always been the mother figure of the group, even before she was dating much less married to Sirius. Always coddling the boys, making sure they drank their water and had all three meals. Also their homework. Oh my DAYS Remus was good with due dates but Sirius and James? Y/N needed some anti aging cream for her stress lines early.
Sirius was always getting into trouble and needing Y/N to bail him out be it detention or Azkaban.
Y/N is used to having to cheer him up, taking care of him but that doesn't mean she doesn't feel the same amount of pain whenever she sees him down. He always gives her those sad puppy wet eyes and she coos at him every single time. Kissing away his tears and pressing her forehead to his, reminding him how she would always be there to be the gentle wind that would push away the clouds to bring back the crystal blue skies.
Never feels like a burden, Y/N always reiterates how much she wants to take care of him. How much she doesn't care that he's been whiny and pouty. Y/N always holds his face firmly before kissing his face all over, making him smile before chuckling. She loves his smile, so charming and full of hope. Something she always looks forward to seeing.
Baking him cookies, his horrid mother never did that for him. He loves the ones you make, he says you put something special in them! (It's just a pinch of salt in the chocolate chip cookies.) Also baking WITH him. He's been trying to make pistachio cookies but he just can't make them green enough. (Need to blend the pistachios to make a paste)
Cooking with him. He loves all the domestic things. Feelings he could never get from his old home. Pasta, steaks, soups? Soups are your favourite to make in the Autumn and winter. Especially pumpkin soup during the Halloween season? (We're all just a little basic sometimes) In the spring, toss some salads together and sear some steaks. Maybe even make a nice roast on Sundays.
Washing his hair for him! Y/N running her fingers though his hair, gently massaging his scalp. Very particular about his shampoo and conditioner. He only trusts Y/N with his hair. Well Y/N and his barber. But Y/N has to be there if he's cutting his hair. Just in case!
Silent cuddles or small chatter. He's so comfortable with Y/N to the point where silence can be just as comforting as words of affirmation.
Allowing him to hold her. He's always afraid she'll be taken away from him. Just like James and Lily. He can't lose Y/N too. it would break him completely. Being away from Y/N was already torture enough. Sure enough, he also wants to be held sometimes, his head in Y/N's chest or tummy. Something soft for him to lay his head on while she plays with his hair? A sure fire way to get him to calm down and lull him into a happy state.
Get him to write letters to Harry! Harry always has some silly story to tell. especially with the DA being established. Loves hearing about his nephew's terrible love life.
Remus will always be down for a cup of tea and a chat, after all.. he did get fired ☠️ (Just not during the full moon, he can get quite grumpy)
Allowing Sirius to shift into his Animagus form, giving his dog form a wash and he can lay in the bed with Y/N. MAKE IT CLEAR HE NEEDS A BATH FIRST. Fleas are unacceptable in bed. Or in the house anywhere really.
Allowing him to be clingy and Y/N being clingy back, they may be codependent but hey, he's rich, she doesn't care, they don't need to work. They can spend all day together or helping The Order. But knowing The Order, he probably gets let off easy if he needs time.
Taking long naps, and I mean LONG. Three of four hours MINIMUM. Waking up at Merlin knows when and watching some TV with each other and falling asleep all over again.
Sorry this took so long?!! I won't lie, I forgot I HAD an inbox since I use Tumblr on my phone. I HOPE THIS WAS OKAY. SORRY FOE THE MASSIVE DELAY ❤️❤️

His sunshine
grumpy!remus lupin x sunshine!reader
word count:1k
summary: Remus lupin was always grumpy especially before the full moon but what if there was a girl that was the human embodiment of sunshine, what if he was in love with her but what if she was the sister of his best friend
****************************************************
As the warm sun began to peek through the Hogwarts windows, Y/N Potter bounced into the Gryffindor common room, humming a tune that Remus Lupin had never heard before. He couldn't help but notice how she radiated positivity and happiness, even at such an early hour.
Remus had always been a bit grumpier than the rest of his friends. The full moon always took its toll on him, and he didn't always have the energy to put on a happy face.
But somehow, Y/N's presence seemed to make all of that disappear. Whenever she was around, Remus found himself drawn to her infectious laughter and her endless optimism. He couldn't quite put his finger on why he liked her so much - after all, after all, she was his best friend's sister - but something about her made him feel happier than any prank he could pull with his friends, any piece of chocolate he could buy and any book on earth.
As Y/n talked with her brother about the upcoming summer vacation, Remus couldn't help but notice how her eyes would brighten while they talked about their plans. But after he heard Sirius snicker he turned his attention back to his book trying to ignore him.
"I see our little moony has a little crush on sunshine," Sirius said into Remus' ear. "I have no idea what you're talking about," Remus said, looking at Sirius. "I don't have a cru-" "Don't lie. We can all tell you have feelings for her. Except for Prongs, you know him, he's weirdly overly protective, but I'm sure if you talk to him, he won't kill you, but if he gets angry, I found this really cool cave outside Hogsmead that's pretty cool; I bet you could live there for a while." Remus scowled at Sirius. "How the hell did you find a cave?"
Before he could respond he was interrupted by lily storming into the common room towards James, looking furious "YOU TWAT!! Lily yelled at James. Remus smiled to himself, glad that the attention was now off of him and his supposed crush on Y/N. He continued to read his book, glancing up every once in a while to see what was happening.
Eventually, the argument died down and everyone went their separate ways. Remus couldn't help but catch Y/N's eye as she walked out of the common room, and he felt a flutter in his chest. Maybe Sirius was right - maybe he did have feelings for her. He decided to take a walk around Hogwarts, trying to clear his head and figure out what he was feeling.
As he walked through the castle, he couldn't shake the image of Y/N's smile from his mind. Maybe it was time for him to finally admit to himself that he had feelings for her. But how could anyone as happy and kind as her like someone like him, a cold grumpy monster. Remus continued to ponder as he wandered around the castle.
He decided to head back to his dorm and collect his thoughts. As he walked back, he couldn't help but think about the conversation he needed to have with Y/N. Maybe he could tell her how he felt, or maybe he should keep it to himself - he wasn't sure. But one thing was for certain: he couldn't get her out of his head.
When he walked into the common he saw Alice Prewett of y/n's roommates- "hey Remus is everything alright, you seem distracted?" she asked with a kind smile on her face. Hearing her voice made him snap out of his daydream "oh hi Alice yeah everything's fine do you happen to know where y/n is?" she looked at him with a knowing smile a nodded and went up to her dorm.
Remus's heart skipped a beat as he waited for Alice to tell him where Y/N was. He couldn't stop thinking about her and how he had been feeling lately. Alice paused for a moment before speaking. "I think she's in the library. She said she had a lot of studying to do."
Remus nodded and thanked Alice before heading out to the library. As he walked through the halls, he couldn't shake the feeling of nervousness that was settling in his stomach. What if Y/N didn't feel the same way? What if he ruined their friendship? All these thoughts were swirling in his head as he approached the library.
When he saw Y/N, his heart skipped a beat. She looked beautiful, as always, with her hair pulled back and her nose buried in a book. Remus took a deep breath and approached her. "Hey, Y/N. Mind if I sit here for a bit?"
Y/N looked up from her book and smiled. "Of course not. What's up?"
Remus fidgeted with his sleeves before speaking. "I've been wanting to tell you something for a while now. But I've been too scared because I didn't know how James would react, but Sirius shockingly helped me see that it doesn't matter. I know we've been friends for a long time, but I've been having these feelings for you lately, and I just wanted to let you know."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise before she looked down at her book, trying to hide the blush on her cheeks. "Remus, I had no idea. I've actually been feeling the same way."
Remus felt a weight lift off his shoulders as he heard Y/N's words. He felt like he was walking on clouds, and he couldn't help but smile. "Really? You feel the same way?"
Y/N looked back at him with a smile. "Yes, really."
And with those words, Remus knew that everything was going to be okay. They had both been hiding their true feelings for years, and now they could finally be together. He leaned in and kissed Y/N, feeling like the luckiest guy in the world.

Wolfstar Microfic - Medal
Words: 969
@wolfstarmicrofic
🌙✨🌙✨🌙
It was the second week of seventh year. The second week of figuring out how to keep whatever was going on between them secret. It was proving harder each day. Sirius repeatedly had to stop himself from reaching for Remus’ hand when they got up from the Gryffindor table, and Remus had played off the one time that he almost kissed Sirius’ temple as a complaint that he smelled like wet dog.
It wasn’t sustainable, but they hadn’t even put a label on what was happening. All they knew was that it felt inevitable. The pieces of the last six years had finally slotted together in the way they were destined to do.
Sirius visiting Remus at his parents’ cottage in Cornwall in mid-August was a lovely surprise. Remus had plans to go into Falmouth on the bus, and Sirius was happy to tag along. After they’d picked up Hope’s medicine from the pharmacy, Sirius bought them both an ice cream and a fresh lemonade to share and they headed to the pier. Somewhere between sharing a straw for the lemonade and Remus getting ice cream on his nose and Sirius licking it off, something changed. The air around them felt heavy, the sound of the sea muffled.
It was Remus who snapped first. Sirius had been talking about how he’d read Jane Eyre over the summer and that was it. He crowded him against the pier railing and kissed him. A tentative brush of their lips, growing into something ethereal that made him feel like he was going to pass out and fall into the sea. Once it was clear that Sirius was going nowhere, he relaxed into the kiss and allowed Sirius to flip them, the railing pressing against his back as Sirius’ thigh pushed between his legs.
They hadn’t talked about it much, neither of them wanting it to ruin their friendship, despite both of them confirming that they were very much into it. Waking up with his face pressed against Remus’ neck no longer felt wrong to Sirius. No longer feeling like he could only sneak into his bed, but that he was supposed to be there and more importantly wanted there was overwhelming. They agreed not to tell anyone until they’d decided what they were, but that meant no morning kisses, no slipping his hands under Remus’ t-shirt and no Remus's hand running up Sirius’ thigh under the table. In short, it was a stupid decision, and they both hated it.
They’d agreed to meet in an empty classroom on the third floor, under the guise of map research. Remus had barely made it in the door before Sirius enveloped him in his arms. He spun him and pressed him against the door, pressing a kiss to his neck, then his jaw, before their lips met hungrily. The full moon was only two nights away, and Remus hadn’t been lying when he said that it affected his libido.
As they sat with their backs against the door a while later, the elephant in the room was screaming at them.
“Have you thought any more about… us?” Remus asked quietly.
Sirius looked at him, “Moons, I haven’t been able to think about anything else. I'm going to fail all of my NEWTS if we keep this up.”
“Oh,” Remus smiled, “In a good—”
“Yes, in a good way!” He pressed a quick kiss to Remus’ mouth. “I’m in. I’m all in.”
“So, boyfriend?” Sirius could get used to seeing Remus blushing like this.
“Boyfriend,” He confirmed. “Now, what do we do about telling people?”
Remus shrugged. Sirius could tell that he was already a little moon-grumpy, “I really don’t mind. I think we should tell James, Pete and the girls. Outside of that, I don’t really care.”
“Let’s go and tell them, then.” Sirius got to his feet and held out his hand to pull Remus to his. He pressed Remus’ shoulder against the door and held him there. “Fuck, you’re beautiful.” He kissed him sweetly before pulling away. “If we have any hope of telling them, we need to leave now.” Remus chuckled against his lips before lacing his fingers through Sirius’ and opening the door.
🌙✨🌙✨🌙
James, Pete, Lily, Marlene, Dorcas and Mary were sitting on the sofas and rug in front of the fire when they got back. Lily was the first to clock their joined hand and her wide eyes and small squeal attracted the attention of James. Then it was a domino effect of each of their friends realising what they were seeing.
“Is this why the two of you have been so weird this term?” Pete laughed, “I told you, James!”
“More importantly, when did this happen?” Lily pulled out a piece of parchment from her bag.
Remus looked at her curiously. “Over the summer?”
“I need a date, Remus.” She ran her finger over the parchment, looking up at them.
“Well you can’t have him, he’s mine.” Sirius quipped, to Remus’ amusement. “It was 16th August.” Of course, Sirius knew that off the top of his head.
“Mary wins!” Lily threw the parchment at her. “Could you not have waited another two days?”
“I’m sorry, you bet on us?” Sirius looked at each of them in turn. “How did you know?”
“How did you not?” Drawled Marlene, checking her crimson nails.
Their eyes met and they smiled. How did they not know?
“Honestly, I knew since fourth year when Remus—”
“Alright James, do you want a fucking medal?” Remus snapped. “James Potter, number one secret keeper?”
“Wait! What did Remus do in fourth year?” Sirius asked, fascinated.
“Nope,” Remus started towards the stairs, dragging Sirius along giggling. “Goodnight!”
“Silencio is your friend! Love you!” James called after them as they disappeared.
“Ok, what did Remus do in fourth year?”

"okay boys how do i look?" you posed like a model in your floral dress, giggling.
sirius dropped his book and gave an overdramatic gasp, walking towards you, "absolutely stunning bunny." he picked you, causing you to yelp.
"put me down!" you giggled.
"how can i when you are so beautiful?' he rose you higher.
james looked about you both with a giddy smile as sirius put you down, "and jamesie, how do you think i look?" you inched closer to him, climbing on his bed in your best impression of sexy.
"i think you are the fucking sexiest thing on the planet." he replied, smiling as you kissed him on the lips.
"what about me?" sirius frowned as you giggled, pulling off of james.
you walked to sirius, both your lips meeting once you approach him. he began to grab onto your ass as you pulled away, "you know we can't, you have an important practice tonight and you know that you need all your stamina." you joked, patting on the chest.
sirius sighed, "y/n, we have been over this, i have infinite stamina." he said as you laid on remus's bed.
"who are you fooling padfoot?" james replied, barking laughing.
sirius side-eyed him, grabbing one of his pillows and throwing it at james as james replied but throwing it back which turned into a full blown pillow fight.
you laughed at both of your boyfriends childish antics and began reading a book, still hearing james and sirius's bickering.
it all came to a stop when you heard the door open to see remus standing there.
he was currently in a bad mood like he did some months and it was like walking on eggshells. you quickly put down your book, sitting up immediately.
you walked over to him, pecking him on the lips as he grabbed the back of your head, kissing you roughly.
you blushed in his hold, separating from him.
"how was your day remmy?" you beamed as he sat down on his bed.
he had dark circles under his eyes, and he had this look that made you shiver. he was the most intimidating person you could see and you knew that one wrong sentence would become hell for you.
"could've been better." he grunted.
sirius and james looked at eachother in worry. if he was in a bad mood now, the night will be even more awful for them.
remus was usually only bad after the full moon but this time was different, he was grumpy before.
you gave him a light kiss on the cheek, trying to show how bad you felt for him.
"well i have to study with lily for slughorn! will catch all of you later." you kissed them all individually.
"but-" james protested.
"love you guys!" you said in a rush as you went out the door.
little did they know, you planned to figure out where they were going all those late nights. they would tell you it was late quidditch practice to strengthen their weaknesses but you could tell that clearly wasn't true.
they would come back all battered and bruised and just tell you that they were 'playing too rough.'
they would usually disappear during dinner, not showing up but you were determined to figure it out.
you wondered if they had a secret fight club or gambled. the only realistic options in your head, i mean what else could they have been doing?
when it was dinner, you couldn't find them anywhere.
it was as if they were invisible, you had previously waited for them to leave their room but they never did.
which caused you to wander around the castle, trying to find where they were without getting caught.
the last place you thought would have to be impossible. there was no way they would wander in the forbidden forest.
but then again, they were the most reckless people you knew.
so you were willing to look for them in there, i mean it wasn't harmless if you didn't wander in areas unknown.
you moved quickly, trying not to get caught. you went towards the whomping willow, staying far enough for the tree to not spot you.
after making your way past, you happened to spot the most beautiful view of the moon you had ever seen. suddenly, a stag ran past you, causing you to flinch.
a dog suddenly appeared in front of you, blocking you from something you couldn't spot it.
you could hear the squeaks of a rat and you turned back to see the stag in pain, a cut across its hip.
suddenly, you heard a howl that made you shiver. you turned to look where the dog was looking and saw something creep out of the shadow.
it was a werewolf.
and it was staring right at you, foaming at the mouth.
the dog began barking rapidly and the stag started to get up with a limp.
the stag began sprinting at the wolf as the dog looked at you, barking as if it knew you and was telling you to go.
you began running back to the castle as you heard something chasing you ten times faster. you felt a deep pain your leg as you fell down on the leaves.
there was a deep claw mark on your thigh, causing you to hiss in pain. the werewolf was looking at you, growling as you slowly tried to get back up.
you got back up, inching towards a tree as you kept your eyes on the werewolf.
the werewolf suddenly lunged at you, causing you to bring your arm up. it felt as if your lungs had been crushed by the impact of the tree. you tried to make a sudden fast movement towards a safe place.
this caused the werewolf to bite onto the middle of your arm, you had never felt so much pain.
you began screaming quite loudly as the stag head banged the werewolf causing it to be pushed into a tree.
the dog quickly chased after the both of them, trying to gain control of the werewolf.
you began crying so hard that the tears were blocking your eyes. your arm was a ghastly sight that shocked you so greatly.
you began to regain sight of what was happening, getting up and limping towards the castle as you did once before in the fastest way that you could.
you couldn't make it far before you fell down on the ground. you were on your backside and looked up at the sky to see the beautiful night sky, the moon decorating it so finely.
you could hear lots of commotion near you but you didn't have any more strength to see what was happening.
a tear rained down your cheek as your eyes slowly closed.
and it was all dark for now.

Mrs. Lupin Knows The Best
A/N: He is so fine. Sorry, not sorry. He is my weakness.
Y/n woke up with a smile feeling his gaze on her. After all these years being together their dynamic has not changed. Remus and Y/n were best described as twin flames. They balanced each other well
While Remus was now an expert in controlling her temper and insecurities. She was an expert in handling his Moony side and anxiety. For her Remus was always in the background. Something untouchable, for she thought he is too good for her.
It only took a chance to meet between them to realize that they were made for each other. They literally bumped into each other. Remus (bless his heart) Lupin thought he hurt the poor girl but she was busy looking deep into his dark green eyes not wanting to look away.
Little did she know that he noticed this and was equally flattered and fell for her. She didn't notice the heart eyes Remus gave her whenever she passed by him in the corridor.
Remus took out a few lessons from Sirius on how to charm a girl. But it soon got chaotic when he fell face-first in front of her. While he thought he had embarrassed himself in front of her and Sirius was acting as if he never met the man, Y/n tried her best not to laugh and picked up Remus while irrevocably falling in love with him.
..............................................................................................................................
Neither of them expected this. To be married to one another, vowing to never leave each other until death itself comes for them.
Remus currently bid see you soon to his wife who had to go to help her very pregnant sister urgently. While Remus was being a bit petulant as she had to leave only for a week, she chuckled and kissed him promising she will be back before he knows it.
But she doesn't know he started missing her the moment she went out the door he felt like his heart was shattering a million times.
..............................................................................................................................
Sirius and James planned a night out for Remus of how grumpy he suddenly became. He would snap at them and grumble and growl at them.
They couldn't realize what made him so grumpy all of a sudden. He was fine just a few days ago. That's when it clicked Sirius. His best friend was grumpy because his wife was not by his side.
Right now James and Sirius felt like they were walking on eggshells whenever they talked to Remus. They both excused themselves and left Remus by himself in the booth.
"Ok, what is wrong with him? Why is he so moody? The full moon passed right?"
Sirius sighed "Yeah I feel he is just missing his missus"
James frowned in confusion "But she has only been gone for three days"
Sirius shrugged "I don't know...I am calling her right now. I love him but I can't handle his moody-moony side right now."
Sirius took a breath of relief when Y/n picked up her phone in only two rings. Her sweet voice graced his ears with "Hello Sirius. How are you?"
"Terrible love, your husband misses you dearly, and his moony side is showing up."
"But the full moon has already passed"
James chimed in "Hey Y/n prongs here, please take your husband with you before he snaps and eats any of us. Please I have yet to have a child with Lily."
"Ok let me talk to him" she chuckled
James handed the phone to Remus who begrudgingly took the phone and immediately softened when he heard her voice "Hey bun" he practically purred.
Sirius rolled his eyes as he watched his best friend talking so sweetly to her as if he was not glaring and grumbling at him mere moments ago. He snatched the phone back and put the phone on speaker "Love kindly take him with you he is being insufferable git" m
Remus would have glared at him again if Y/n would not have giggled, causing his insides to melt.
"Rem, hon what is wrong I said I will be back before you know it"
Remus pouted as if she said she would be returning after years "but I miss you"
James tried his best not to laugh out watching the calm and collected Remus become a puddle for his girl...just like James was for Lily.
Y/n finally promised to come and get Remus. Remus was giddy and smiley and Sirius shook his head in disappointment..but internally he was happy for him. Happy that after so many hardships he finally found a person he can call his home.
He hid his happy grin with his hand watching Remus talk to his wife with a smile that reached his eyes. He and James shared a glance happiness dancing in their eyes. This felt nice. He now knew Remus couldn't have found a more perfect person who would stick with him through his better or worse.

Remus groaned as he felt James shoving his shoulder, the pre-full moon period wasn't the best one if his friends decided to annoy him. "What?" he asked irritated. James smirked before nodding his head towards you, you were chatting at the Hufflepuff table with your friends. Remus looked at you and- without even meaning to- his face softened. You were so pretty, even in the morning, whereas he thought about his own appearance and realised he looked like he haven't slept in weeks.
"Y/n?" Peter asked as he threw a roll of bread in his mouth. Remus shooted him a glare and tried his best not to look at you even if he wanted to. He wanted to convince himself of the opposite but he needed you. When he was with you he never had to worry about anything, you were healing his aching soul every day.
Every time he was grumpy and just wanted to lie down on his bed, to stay away from everyone and everything you would make an apparition and a smile would find his lips.
Sirius, very not subtly, turned his head to look at you "You're ever going to ask her out?" he asked Remus.
The latter let out a sigh "I don't know," he said as he took a bite of his toast. He wanted to ask you out on a date. You often had sort of rendezvous but it was as friends and he wanted you to understand how much he cared about you.
"During class?" Peter suggested.
James's face lighted up "Yeah! You're partners in potions!" his mind was digging to find a way of helping his best friend. Remus shrugged his shoulders, he didn't want his friends to get involved. As much as he always told his friends communication was important he was the last one to speak about his emotions. He hated talking about his feelings for you, it made him feel like an idiot, a fool. He knew how much he loved you, how much you were occupating his brain but he felt horrible when he told his friends. His mind was a funny little thing.
:・゚✧*:・゚
Potion class quickly came and Remus found himself next to you as usual. You smiled at him and his stomach twisted in his body. "Hi Remmy," you said. Godric, he hated this nickname. But the way it sounded when it came from your lips, he could only cherish it. It was one of the many exclusivities you had in his heart.
You started to work on the assignment Slughorn gave you but he was more focused on the way you were so meticulous with the ingredients than his own work. He could stare at you for hours and it scared him. Just the way your tongue was poking out the corner of your lips was turning him into a puddle.
When the class came to an end he didn't want to leave, he wanted to stay by your side. Maybe one day he'd be courageous enough to ask you to stay with him.
:・゚✧*:・゚
"Lily!" you called, waving your hand.
The girl turned around and smiled at you "Y/n!" she hugged you and you smile into the embrace.
"I have things to tell you," you said with a grin. Lily's eyes widened comedically before rushing to her dorm, ready to hear whatever gossip you had to tell her. She plopped down on her bed and you followed her. "I think I have a crush on someone," you said followed by a 'heeee' of excitement.
Her mouth fell open "No way! Who?" she almost sounded more excited than you.
"Remus."
"Oh my-" Lily responded. "You would be so cute together!" she grinned and you could only smile at the idea to be with him.
You bit your bottom lip "I'm scared to ask him out..." you couldn't stand the idea of being rejected by him "During potion class all I was focusing on was the way his hands were so pretty as he was writing and-" You fell down on Lily's bed as you smile dreamily.
"Ooh," she said with a teasing tone "His hands, huh?" Embarrassed, you felt your cheeks heating up and hid your face in her pillow. "You should ask him out," Lily said a little more seriously.
"I don't know..."
"You should! I don't think you'll get rejected. If you want my opinion, he loves you too." Your heart missed a beat. Was she telling the truth? Did you have a chance?
You decided that you were going to ask him out. Because if Lily was telling the truth and that he loved you, he didn't ask you out yet and probably wasn't going to. You had to make the first move.
:・゚✧*:・゚
The next day, you found Remus at the Black Lake, he seemed a little angry, grumbling something as he aggressively tapped his quill on the parchment paper. "Remmy?" you said as you sat next to him.
He tore his eyes from his paper and his face subtly light up, he was happy to see you. "Yes, love?" The nickname? You could die on the spot.
You took a deep breath, it wasn't the time to be a coward. "I-I wanted to ask you something..."
"Go ahead," he said with an encouraging smile.
"D-do you want to go on a date with me tomorrow night?" you turned your head away, refusing to look at him. Remus' heart stopped beating for a moment, was all this really happening? He wanted to accept so much but then he remembered, tomorrow was the full moon and he won't be able to come. He hated to tell you no but he could find another day, right?
He cleared his throat "Um... actually- I-I can't... I'm sorry-" But before he could ask you on another date you got up and left, too embarrassed to face the defeat. "No wait- Y/n!" he shouted but it was already too late. "Fuck!" he swore as he throw his paper on the ground. Lycanthropy was truly a curse and it poisoned him every day. With a heavy heart, he walked back to his dorm, refusing to answer the questions Sirius just kept asking.
:・゚✧*:・゚
You told Lily about what happened and decided to spend the night in her dorm, you needed comfort and could mainly find it next to her, she was like a sister to you.
To make you think about something else and wipe your tears she decided to talk to you about the muggle world. As a pureblood, you never had the opportunity to learn about muggles and Lily loved to tell you about her world. You listened carefully and laughed when she told you about their pictures than weren't moving.
During the following days you tried to forget about Remus but you couldn't ignore the fact that you hadn't seen him in a while. It wasn't the first time this happened but this time you felt a little more worried than usual.
"James?" The boy turned around and smiled when he saw you but you noticed that it seemed like he knew what happened and was sorry for you.
"Yes?"
"Where is Remus?" James looked a little uncomfortable. "Can you tell me, please?" you wanted to know, you were scared something happened to him.
James considered telling you or not before finally answering "In the infirmary." You barely waited for him to finish his sentence before running to the said place.
You opened the doors a little too loudly and earned a scolding from Mrs Pomfrey. "Sorry," you whispered. You looked around and found Remus' bed. As you saw him asleep there, covered in bandages, you felt guilty for being mad at him.
You sat on a chair next to him and took his hand between yours. You stroke his skin slowly, you hoped he was okay. You waited hours for him to wake up and started to lose hope, maybe you had to come back tomorrow.
"Y/n?" you heard Remus' weak voice calling for you.
"Remmy!" you straightened up in your seat and- without even thinking- you cupped his wounded cheek with your hand. "What happened?" you asked with a hint of panic in your voice.
Remus stayed quiet, he was hesitating. Maybe his secret had already ruined too many things, maybe it was time to finally let it out. "Please don't hate me," he said and it broke your heart. You could never hate him. "I- I'm a werewolf." He shut his eyes, waiting for your reaction.
"Oh Remus," you cooed, "You thought I would hate you for this?" Remus nodded, a little ashamed, "I would never hate you for this Remus. I will help you, I will heal your wounds- you know I want to be a medical witch" You went on and on about all the things you would do for him and Remus listened carefully with a smile on his lips. There was a moment when you thought you were talking too much but the boy asked you to continue. And so you did.
"Is it why you refused the date?" you asked, remembering two days ago was the full moon.
"Yeah"
"Oh I'm sorry for leaving Remmy," you apologized, resting your forehead against his. He told you not to worry and leaned forward. With his back against the headboard and your hand on his cheek, he kissed you.
You couldn't believe it was happening but you kissed him back anyway. "I love you so much," you whispered before pulling him for a kiss again.
"I love you too. Thank you for healing my aching soul, love."

Not tonight - a wolfstar short fic
Remus couldn’t sleep. He rolled over and curled up with his knees to his chest and the quilt over his head in a vain attempt to shut the world out. It soon turned uncomfortable and hard to breath.
It was only a few days since full moon, but it hadn’t been worse then usual. Nothing especially bad had happened. He could think of no real reason to feel this grumpy and anxious. He knew he shouldn’t bother Sirius. That he was being a needy brat didn’t mean Sirius shouldn’t get to sleep. But he felt so lonely…
Sirius lifted the quilt and wordlessly welcomed him. Remus carefully slid into place, trying not to disturb him too much. Sirius fingers started to trace patterns over Remus back, over his arms, down his chest. He pulled up close and whispered in his ear: "You are so sexy.”
Remus didn't feel sexy at all. This was one of the days he just felt worthless. He had hoped he would feel less awful, less lonely and misplaced, if he crept over to Sirius. But Sirius touch just brought it all to the surface.
"Not tonight. I'm too tired."
"Okay. We'll just sleep tonight." Sirius hands continued to paint circles over his chest. Sirius nose snuffled in his neck and ruffled his hair.
Remus chest tightened. Obviously, he was giving him the wrong impression. What had he expected, coming to Sirius bed at night? He got up.
"No, no, no. Wait!" Sirius grabbed his wrist. ”Where are you going?"
"I told you. I don't want to."
"Remus, that I find you sexy doesn't mean we need to have sex. Don't you want to sleep here?" Sirius let go of him.
"You're not disappointed?"
"No! Why would I be?"
"It's just... You always want to, and I... I say no all the time. It doesn't seem fair."
"Thats nonsense! Well, I mean... I would like to have sex you. But that means nothing if you’re not up for it. I'm so sorry if I've framed it any other way."
This was a useless argument. Sirius didn't get it. And Remus couldn't explain exactly what was wrong either.
He sighed and lay down beside Sirius again. "You sure?"
"Well, I can’t promise I won’t get a hard one with you next to me" he said in an attempt at joke that Remus didn't muster a smile for. "If that makes you uncomfortable, of course we can sleep separately. But if not, I would love if you stayed here and cuddled."
Remus wound his arms around Sirius and buried his face against his chest. "I love you."
Sirius pulled him close and delicately stroked his hair. "And I love you. So very very much."
Sometimes it felt like this. Like he would never deserve what he had. Like everything he did or said were somehow wrong. Like the world would be a better place without him.
He knew, logically, that it was temporary. He knew that he didn’t feel like this yesterday, or the day before that. But right now, it seemed this was the only true interpretation of the world, that every day he had thought he’d been happy had somehow been him gravely misjudging things.
He tried to have faith that the feeling, this time as well as every time before, would eventually subside. The arms around him were not enough to chase it away, but they made it easier to endure the waiting.
Sirius fingers gently swept tears from his cheeks.
"Want to talk?"
He shook his head against Sirius chest.
"Okay, baby. Then sleep."
Maybe Sirius didn't understand. Maybe Remus would never be able to properly explain it to him.
But maybe it didn't matter all that much. Because no matter what, even when Remus had nothing to offer, Sirius was always there for him.

Can I get your take on some er.. interesting discourse I saw today? There was an ask floating around asking if Remus would be an abusive partner. Now I personally think literally anyone is capable of being abusive as humans, but putting that aside for a moment, I don’t necessarily think of Lupin as being anymore likely than the average joe to be abusive in a relationship (atleast not physically, I could possibly see emotionally). This is a very hypothetical question with a lot of factors at play so I also think it’s very hard to answer. I think your pretty fair and balanced and I trust your judgment on the character and their relationship dynamics so I came to you for your thoughts on this one. (Though if it’s too dark you can skip it, id totally get it)
Yes. ABSOLUTELY - if not reigned in. But not intentionally. Remus naturally does things to defend himself, even if the ideas he is defending against are unrealistic and anxiety/paranoia based.
-- Would he hit/hex his partner? He had the shortest argument in the world with Harry and hexed him into a wall. He has 'physically lashing out' in him... but only a short burst before he is crying down the hall. He HATES tension. He would want to run away before he gets that heated. Harry surprised him. I could see him breaking a plate or something, but only the one, and not as a way to intimidate. He is just angry. Fuck this plate.
-- But if his manipulative habits aren't kept in check... ...He manipulates people to like him. He makes himself the sort of man they will think positively of. He holds his tongue on his true thoughts and tells lies so people perceive him how he wants. See: How he treats Harry... especially vs. how Sirius, or even Severus treat Harry. Remus bases his behaviour on how Dumbledore acts... but while Albus is doing his best to play magical 5D chess before a war. Remus is only nursing his own anxieties. If his partner is weak to this: he will abuse that. Constant white lies, sweeping problems under the rug... The more he gets away with the more he does. He will make himself seem better than he is, more responsible and in control, gaslighting his partner to believing lies - telling himself: 'I will become like this. It's ok if I lie now, because my intentions are good... and I don't want to lose their trust early before I'm good enough for them...!' Even if his partner can call him out whenever he starts - and he can trust that they love him even at his worst... ...other people can't love him at his worst.
-- He will try and control what his partner says about him in public. ...beyond a 'don't talk about my toilet accident at the party' request. It starts out more reasonable, 'please don't bring up that little fight we had...' But the more control he feels, the more his anxiety wins: + 'Don't bring up your depression... everyone will think I'm not doing enough!'+ 'Why did you talk about the new shirts I bought...? Yes I know they are nice, but... but what if they think I'm shallow?!?' + 'Look, just don't talk about my work - let ME talk about my work.' Eventually his partner is scared to say anything to anyone, because Remus wants to be in charge of conversations so he can control how he is perceived through his partner... all the way to asking them to act certain ways for certain people. And if they upset him...
-- He is a guilt-trip king. Remus isn't the type to blame everything on his Lycanthropy. On the contrary - he will push himself when he really shouldn't. 'No, no - I should pull my weight and go do the shopping, like I promised.' But he does like to feel accepted and his pains appreciated, like a grumpy old man whinging and fishing for compassion: '...I'll go do the shopping. But oof, my back is really killing me after last Full Moon... and these cuts on my armpits sting when I lift my arms up - see? Look at that - they pull! New scars for sure. I'm still getting dizzy spells... oh, but I'll go, I'll go! I'll walk all the way to the shops and back.' ...perhaps hoping he doesn't have to do the shopping without feeling selfish for asking. But that's not abusive, just somewhere between cute and annoying.
What is abusive... are threats. Threats to himself, to the relationship. eg. His partner says they aren't going to avoid talking about their depression - just because he worries it'll make him 'seem bad'. + 'Oh, so we can talk about all our little problems to anyone now?? Well then I'll go and make sure EVERYONE knows that I am so stressed out, all the time, and your clothes are always on the floor of the bedroom, and-' (not the best example ik - I'm just trying to get across that he will make a big deal of tiny things because he is worried that they will go poorly if he can't control them.)
And of course, ever the classic: "Well if I'm such a bother then I'll go. I'll leave! Goodbye! You won't have to see me again, or deal with my 'problems'..." He feels the relationship is always teetering on the edge, even when it isn't - so there is catharsis for him in having the power to 'end' it. Of course the only way to deal with such behaviour is to give him the agency to do that if he wants... but let him know he is wanted. His partner can't bend the knee and give in to the demands, nor FORCE him to stay... but they can wave goodbye and say the back door will be unlocked whenever he wants to come back. ...I think there is a case to be made that leaving without much contact is abusive in its own right.
-- Basically: I think Remus is highly susceptible to being abused. Once he gets genuine affection he wont be able to quit it even if it turns cruel... ...But he is also very likely to be the abuser. The type of abuser that justifies all their actions as being needed, because they are all born from him trying to manage his anxieties.
He knows they are 'wrong', but the more they work the more necessary they seem. He see's himself as a 'special case' and that dating him will NEED some unconventional methods. It all comes back to his Lycanthropy, but indirectly. His anxiety is caused by him not wanting to be distrusted for his condition - but it has seeped its tendrils into everything.
I think anyone who dates Remus needs to be very emotionally mature and have a thick skin because they can't let him engage with this bullshit... while also helping to shoulder his anxieties. He can't just stop freaking out about how he is perceived on a dime. He will likely ALWAYS be anxious about it, as its born from a real source: People will treat him like shit if they find out he is abnormal.
But he needs to know his partner is on his side. That they can be trusted not to sabotage his image. They like him with all his imperfections and struggles. And threats won't work on them. Trust and communication will.
All of these issues are 'they started as small favors and comforts... and then as they worked, they grew bigger and bigger'. None of them are 'Remus wants to control and hurt.'
I think the essence of what I want to say is that Remus has lots of poor coping strategies and unhealthy behaviors he has had to lean on to survive... and he needs to be shown betters ways, and supported.

congrats again! 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐳𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐫: basic but grumpy/sunshine with remus 👀
this is so genius remus is absolutely grumpy x sunshine i'm gonna have to write more of these
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥
“for the love of merlin, will you stop?” remus covered his ears with his hands. his eyes were shut in exasperation.
it was two days before the full moon, and remus was grumpy. more so than usual, because he’d just gotten roped into a week’s worth of detention for a prank he didn’t pull.
“i’m not even doing anything,” sirius protested. his words were muffled by a mouth full of half-chewed french toast. “i’m eating breakfast. it is the most important meal of the day, after all.”
remus groaned, slumping forward until his forehead was resting on the surface of the table.
“no offense, but you’ve been a bit of an arse all day,” james said, tossing a napkin at sirius and silently miming the action of wiping his mouth. despite james’ bluntness, he still cared about remus.
“i’ve literally been awake for three hours,” remus deadpanned, lifting his head just enough to look at james pointedly. “and i’m regretting getting out of bed at all.”
“who spat in your pumpkin juice?” sirius said, mouth now clean.
“the full moon is in two days,” peter mouthed.
“huh?” sirius leaned closer to peter. his face was contorted in confusion.
peter huffed and pursed his lips. “the full moon is in two days,” he hissed.
james hummed in understanding, nodding vigorously. with the recent (failed) prank and a load of assignments at the forefront of their minds, the marauders had forgotten all about the approaching moon.
sirius raised his eyebrows, impressed by the closeness of the date. sirius looked down at remus, who was still slouching in his seat with bleary eyes, and frowned. “mate, you’ve gotta eat something.”
“i’m not hungry.”
“they have muffins!” peter goaded. “you love muffins.”
“they’re the blueberry ones,” remus sighed with despondency. “i bloody hate blueberries.”
james furrowed his eyebrows thoughtfully. “okay, what about-”
“rem!” your robes trailed behind you as you rushed over to remus’ side. “good morning, love. are you alright?”
remus lifted his head and blinked as he adjusted to the light. instead of glaring like he’d done to james earlier, his face softened. “hey,” he smiled unconsciously. he always smiled when he saw you. “i’m all good. no, i’m great, now that you’re here.” remus tugged lightly at your hand, prompting you to sit next to him. he laid his head on your shoulder when you did.
“that was bad, rem,” you chastised. “sappier than sirius’ maple syrup.”
remus turned his head to peer up at you affectionately. “that was definitely worse.”
you busied yourself as you poured juice and filled your plate with various breakfast foods. “have you eaten?” you asked, glancing over at remus’ scarce plate. “you’re bound to be hungry; especially of late, i mean.” you were hinting toward his heightened metabolism around the full moon.
“i haven’t,” remus confessed. “nothing looks good.”
“what about the muffins? you love muffins.” you stretched your arm across the table, careful not to shift too much and push remus’ head off your shoulder. it didn’t matter, because remus unbound himself from you on his own and reached for the muffins. he handed you one and began peeling the wrapper off his own.
peter’s mouth parted.
“d’you want some fruit? they’ve got fresh blueberries today. it must be a berry day,” you commented, holding your hand over your mouth as you chewed your muffin.
sirius looked vaguely offended. “hey, you just snapped at me for-”
“i’d love some.” remus pecked your forehead. “thanks, love.”
james blinked in a rapid succession of increasingly flabbergasted expressions. “but you hate blueberries! you literally just said that!”
“no, i didn’t,” remus said, raising his eyebrows as if challenging his friends to question him. “i have nothing against blueberries.”
“what? we went berry picking with hagrid last weekend.” you laughed incredulously as you handed remus a bowl of bright blueberries. “he ate, like, three slices of my blueberry pie.”
james crossed his arms, looking remus up and down smugly.
sirius scoffed. “you’re a bloody liar, moony. a big, fat, liar.”
remus shrugged, unphased by his friends’ accusations. “didn’t i tell you to shut up, sirius? i can’t deal with your stupid voice right now. you know my ears get sensitive around this time.”
remus looked down at you, admiring the way the apples of your cheeks rose as you smiled at him with complete adoration. if it weren’t for the equally mushy smile on his face, he would’ve probably been drooling.
“what’cha lookin’ at me like that for?” you grinned—no, beamed—you beamed, flashing remus rows of teeth that he swore gleamed brighter than all the floating candles in the great hall.
“oh, nothing,” remus deflected. “you’ve got some blue on your face… here, let me…”
you knew what this was. remus did this all too often. still, you let yourself indulge in his ploy, melting into his touch as his lips wiped away the remnants of your breakfast. when he began to pull away, you grabbed hold of his gryffindor tie and yanked, pressing your lips to his with finality.
james and sirius looked disgusted. peter, ever the romantic, bit his cheek to keep his smile at bay.
“i think i’m going to be sick,” sirius groaned, clutching his stomach. “james, will you hold my hair back?”
“anything for you, lovie dovie baby darling,” james cooed, twisting his voice into a poor imitation of remus’. “i’ll eat all the blueberries in the world for you, honey sugar pumpkin sweetie.”
remus lobbed a slice of unoasted bread at james’ face.

Category: Remus!lupin x Fem!reader
Word count: 2k ish words
Warnings: self deprecating Remus, mean Remus!! But lots of confessional fluff :)
»»————- ♡ ————-««
It had taken months. Months after months of waiting, pining to finally grow the courage to even stand before Remus's door. Today was supposed to be the day where you confessed to him, poured out your heart and admitted how you had harboured the most all-consuming crush on your friend for the past three years. But like most things, it most definitely did not go to plan.
The tell-tale sign should have been how grumpy Remus had been at breakfast. He'd gotten in a habit of buttering your toast for you since he was worried you would forget to eat. However, this morning he did no such thing. He could hardly look at anyone, his eyes firmly glued to the pages of his book.
He always made an effort to start a conversation with at least you, yet today there was nothing. Why did you think seeking him out would warrant a mood change?
Despite all the signs of a negative response to your confession, you still stood with your hand readied in a fist to knock on the door to Remus's chambers. With a couple of whispers of self-motivation, you allowed your knuckles to connect to the hardwood before you. After a tense thirty seconds, you were about to knock again when a gruff enter was called out into the chilled autumn air.
The door opened with a flick of Remus's weak wrist, and the first thing you noticed when your eyes finally strayed to your crush was his current condition. To put it bluntly, he looked awful. His hair was slick with sweat, his eyes sported deep purple bags and his skin was a ghostly beige.
"Christ Remus are you okay?"
Before even one finger could reach him he waved you off rather aggressively, his arm striking out in a motion to signal you don't take another step. You were frozen.
"What do you want?" His voice startled you. It was ever so cold like you were a mere stranger. Not the girl who had been there for Remus through every bump in the road.
"I came to tell you something... but I'm more concerned about your health... Remus are you quite sure you're all right?"
"I'm fine... really y/n can you just tell me whatever is you want to tell me I want... I want to be alone"
Well, you assumed that made sense right? Everyone had off days, everyone had those days where they just want to bury themselves under a thousand blankets and not speak to a soul. And now the more you thought about it, Remus did have his moods more than anyone else you knew. Allowing his shoddy reasons to add up in your brain, you replied with a nod before taking a tentative step towards him. Now it was your turn to sweat. This moment had been playing on your mind for three years.
Today could be the day you ruin one of your highest-valued friendships. Every time that thought slithered to the forefront of your mind; you were reminded of the guy that Remus was. Kind, nurturing and most importantly, understanding. Maybe if he did let you know that those romantic feelings were one-sided you could finally move on and allow your affections to rest elsewhere. At least you knew he would do it kindly... right?
Clearing your throat and finally looking up at the adorable boy before you, all buried in knit jumpers and chocolate wrappers, you abandoned to little prompt you'd written with the help of James. You'd let this one just come from the heart.
"so there's something I've been meaning to tell you for a while I... well I..." with a humourless laugh you shook off your nerves "I really like you Remus... not just as a friend... as more than that... and I have for a while now... I just can't go another day pretending that"-
"Shut up”
What?
At first, you were convinced maybe you were hearing things. Surely he hadn't stopped your love confession with shut up. Not your Remus.
"w-what?"
His eyes were cast down angrily, like even looking at you was a chore he was too disgusted to try.
"I said shut up... I don't want to hear it okay..."
"Remus-"
"Are you deaf? y/n just get out..." Hot tears rolled down your cheeks as the volume at which he was speaking increased "Seriously get out..."
With one final sob from you and that painful yell from Remus, you took this as your queue to concede to his demands. Maybe he wasn't your Remus after all, maybe he never was.
»»————- ♡ ————-««
Remus reckoned that if you did a study on werewolves vs Cornish pixies, pixies would make better companions. He had never felt as awful as he did right now. It had been a week since your conversation, the most one-sided conversation in history. The full moon had come and gone, but the tremendous guilt he held only grew.
Despite his actions towards you, Remus had been in love with you since your first year at Hogwarts. He remembered the clumsy bundle of hair and wide smiles that wouldn't take no for answer when it came to befriending him. He knew then he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you. Keyword wanted.
Dreams had plagued Remus since first year. Dreams where he would transform and it would be too late for you to flee, the disgust evident on your face before he mauls you, just like the monster he truly was deep down.
Remus never told you about his affliction. Not because he didn't trust you, but because he knew how much you cared. He knew you'd want to be there through every bump in the road and that included transformations. He wanted nothing less than for those nightmares to become a reality.
So the exhaustion of his upcoming transformation, his fear of letting you get too close and all over protectiveness he had for you resulted in his reaction to your confession that day. As he said, he’d never felt worse.
That brought us to our current moment. The marauders crowded around Remus as he recounted that interaction for the fifth time that week. The group could sympathise with both sides. Remus had never been good with relationships platonic or romantic. But if there was one thing they were in no doubt about that would be his feelings for you.
"Look Moony you've got to win her back..." Sirius ordered, his arms crossed and his brows furrowed as he thought up some extravagant way he could win back your heart.
"I never had her In the first place pads..."
All of them groaned at his self-loathing. It had become customary for Remus to resign himself from all the nice things he could have. In his mind, his affliction meant he didn't deserve them. They thought that was bullshit.
"Come on Remus don't be dense... y/n has liked you since... well since forever..." Peter chimed in.
"And yeah she might not be yours physically but mentally I think she is... the number of guys I've watched her turn down all because of you..." James stated massaging his temples out of frustration.
A huff left Remus's lips as he shook his head out of pure disbelief. Did you like him that much? Him? I mean you had told him yourself, but he still thought it preposterous.
"don't you want to be with her Remus?"
"Of course, I do!"
The three smirked at their friend's outburst. If the way he spoke about you wasn't enough to confirm his love for you, it was the constant longing stares. For someone who was categorised as a scary werewolf, he sure did resemble a kicked puppy.
"Well bloody tell her..."
"Fine... fine I will..."
Sirius clapped his hands together before throwing an arm around his friend "Right so this is what we're going to do..."
»»————- ♡ ————-««
Sombre would be a good way to describe your mood over the past week. You skipped more classes this week than you had throughout the entirety of your schooling career. A straight up rejection would of been manageable, sure you'd still be devastated but you could move on. But the person who had told you to shut up, glared at you like you were scum was not the boy you knew.
The worst part about all of it was that you still missed him. Those honey eyes and the scent of coco. That dimple beside his mouth when he’d concede to a lopsided smile. And most importantly that voice, the deep gruff that coated his vocal chords in the morning and that higher lilt that he sung out when he got particularly passionate about a certain topic. You adored him, every single part of him. But he hated you.
Knock knock
“Lily piss off I want to be alone…”
Knock knock
You groaned even louder burying your swollen eyes in your pillow “Lily please I told you I’d come out when I was ready…”
Knock knock
“Lily please-“
“S’not Lily…”
Heart stilling. Time seemed to stop for a moment, your head raising, as your red-tinted eyes zoned in on the door, but more importantly the figure that must of been standing behind it. Do you tell him to fuck off? Tell him how angry he had made you? Let him know that you’d never felt so betrayed and hurt. However, before you got the chance to lay any of those words upon your tongue the door swung open and those honey eyes met your own.
Tulips in hand, a scruffy piece of paper and the most desperate face you ever did see stood before you.
“I’m so sorry…”
Remus must of noticed the state you were in. Used tissues coated every surface in reach, empty chocolate bar wrappers and even a half drunken bottle of fire-whiskey. Let’s just say you’d definitely been doing better before.
“You were really mean Remus…”
You let your eyes meet his once more, attempting not to cry again. You failed.
“I know I was… merlin I was such a prick… and yunno what… you have every right to never speak to me again but…” Remus had never been good with words, you could tell his mind was battling with saying the right thing. You nodded silently in attempt to comfort him and it seemed to do the trick. Pulling the scrappy piece of paper to eye level, Remus took a shaky breath and continued.
“I… I have loved you since the first time I met you… when you nearly threw me onto the tracks at the train station by how hard you hugged me… and then I fell in love with you again in second year when you made it your duty to always tie my tie for me since I always forgot…”
Another shaky breath.
“… in third year I noticed how you would only laugh like a complete idiot around me and it made me want to kiss you and be sick at the same time because… because shit you’re everything to me y/n…”
Now you were full blown sobbing, purposely as quietly as possible, you didn’t want to miss a word that slipped past his lips.
“Well then why… why did you tell me to get out…”
“Because I don’t deserve you… there’s a lot about me you don’t know and… I know you won’t care… but I do…” He seemed resigned to rejection. Like there was no conceivable way you two could be together. One thing he didn’t account for however was your stubbornness.
Rising to your feet, you took tentative steps towards him. Your fingers ghosted his cardigan covered biceps as they traveled to his rose dusted cheeks.
“Do I get a say in any of this? Remus I couldn’t think of any singular thing that could make me love you any less…” That doubt crept behind his eyes and you made him look at you before whispering “Not one thing…”
There was a comfortable silence as you basked in one an others presence.
“Okay…” it came out as an almost giddy sigh, but your ears caught it.
“Okay?”
“Okay… please can I kiss you now?”
“You could’ve kissed me six years ago dummy”

Cute fic idea? That came to me while i was trying to distract myself from anxiety so i could sleep.
But Regulus being reincarnated as a little black cat who gets adopted by the Lupin family, because Tonks recognizes something odd about the grumpy little kitten (Its eyes, hes looking at me like he knows me) and Remus isn’t a cat person but he can already tell toddler teddy is in love with the cat and Tonks promises that shell do the vet stuff and litter changes. They call him Bagheera They bought a VHS at Tonks request, Teddy’s just watched the jungle book and hes convinced the kitten is actually a black panther.
He’s the grumpiest cat in the world, terrified of water, won’t go out in the rain for roast beef. And hes small for his age but within a week he has the neighbours dog cowering and the Tom down the street crosses the road when hes out prowling. But hes the best rat catcher and he never scratches or bites (so long as you let him have the best spot right next to the fire place) and it takes a while but soon he curls up on your lap and purrs so loud it sounds like there's a lawnmower in the living room.
Remus wasn’t really convinced. It was Tonks and Teddies cat really. Then the full moon came. And even after all these years, with the wolfsbane and experience, hes still ashamed. He’s no threat but he hides from his wife and son down in the basement. The beast has aged with him, its fur is greying, its skin is gnarled with scars. He curls up on a mattress covered in blankets (Tonks insisted he have at least something nice to lay on, even though he refused any other amenities). Suddenly two big blue eyes open up amidst a see of darkness and Remus is transported back 30 years through the wolfs eyes, scared, angry, when two grey eyes appear. followed by a big black dog that doesn’t understand boundaries, a stag who stamps and paws the ground impatiently, wanting to race him down to the river, and a big brown rat that climbs up his leg and nestles in his fur, scratching just the right places.
The full moons weren’t so lonely after that. With a cat that was just half a step too familiar. They weren’t cuddly by any means. But in the early mornings he would creep out the basement, in just a dressing gown, limping down the corridor to the kitchen. Bagheera would walk with him, at Remus’ pace. They would watch the sun rise, over a cup of tea, or a bowl of water. Remus didn’t want to wake Tonks.
And on nights before and after the moon. When Remus was restless and in pain he would make his excuses to his wife, go outside to smoke even though he swore he was going to quit this time. He would sit outside and Bagheera would follow him, and look up at the stars with his big eyes that looked like they understood more than a cat should know. Remus told him about everything on nights like that. About James and Lily, the marauders and their pranks, about Peter, when he was his best friend. He cried when he talked about Sirius, the brightest star who grew up in an awful place but was still kind and the truest Gryffindor. The cat just watched the stars. He watched Sirius.
#This was meant to be a short fic idea i am sorry#But been vibing the Remus Regulus friendship#but make it afterlife#also I know her names Nymphadora but i doubt she would suddenly be okay with that name after getting married#so she still goes by Tonks#remus x nymphadora#remus x tonks#remus x sirius#remus lupin#regulus black#remus and regulus#marauders#marauders era#the marauders#Sirius black#james potter#marauders fanfiction#marauders fic#lily evans#peter pettigrew
