reasons fallout season 1 reminded me of the umbrella academy:

1. the character dynamics are similar in how they interact with each other, how much they tell each other, and how they generally act like siblings

2. the setting being after an apocalypse (obviously tua is trying to prevent an apocalypse and fallout takes place after one but still)

3. the music, a lot of the artists are the same, a lot of the songs are the same and just generally how they use music in each show

4. the fight scenes as far as editing, directing, choreography and just general vibes

5. if you’ve made it to the end of fallout season one: the guy who put his brain in a robot reminded me of AJ (the fish who drives the human suit)

6. the way they do gore

7. queer characters without a need to make it their whole personality (if you hadn’t noticed the character dane in fallout is nonbinary)

8. the social structure, hierarchy, rules, and attitude of the volts reminds me a lot of the commission

9. probably other things i can’t think of

So like, this line is incredibly impactful and so many people have talked about this but like !!! He’s free !!! And not just for a date! He is an openly bi man in his 30s who’s just now finding out that he likes men too and he’s !! free !! I started watching this show fairly recently bc I’m a huge Supernatural fan and I saw sooo many people drawing similarities between Dean and Buck and it just makes me so happy to watch Buck get to have this. And like, I just know that Dean is living on through this golden retriever coded bisexual fireman. Despite the fact that Dean Winchester deserved to have this moment of freedom too and it never happened in canon, I’m so glad that we get to watch Evan Buckley have the arc that they both deserved

Six major characters who are the focus of the story

All of whom are competing for something from the afterlife

Each character gets their own character-specific solo song

Each song has a slightly different vibe from the others

Absolutely iconic humour

One character wants to do another solo and gets absolutely denied (Wearing Yellow to a Funeral/I Love you Guys)

The first two characters have a hilarious rivalry

One character who does a rap song gets a second song giving background information on their character (Haus of Holbein/Talia)

At least one character has previously been decapitated

There is a character named Jane who sings a solemn song and is commonly associated with the colours black and white

The fifth character is arguably the most tragic

The sixth character comes to a realization about themselves or their friends which ties the entire show together

The sixth character is also somewhat underrated in the fandom despite their value to the story

My favourite character is a chaotic yet endearing girl who believes she's better than everyone else

The ending makes me feel scarily strong emotions

Random musings about an episode where Spectra disguised herself as a student, rather than a counselor to sow misery within the high school! Spreading gossip, being outright malicious, shattering friendships, and all that jazz! Plus, using that fact she looks like a teen against Danny, since unless cornering her, he couldn't fight her without looking like he's attacking a random student.

thinking about mizu from blue eye samurai. thinking. thinking so much. thinking about how mizu operates outside of gender. like we joke about her gender being revenge but straight up? it literally is. like she grew up as a boy and is most comfortable being a man, but behind that is the feeling of betraying himself because he isn't being honest about who he is and he lives in fear of being discovered. and when he lived as a woman, she found joy there as well. she fell in love, and though she wasn't good at it, she liked being a wife and enjoying a simple life. but in that life too, she isn't being honest about who she is. and when she reveals her true self, it's not a woman, she's a demon, a weapon. she's to masculine to be a woman, and too feminine to be a man. ultimately, mizu is most comfortable when they are being a murder machine. that's when they feel they are being the most true to themself. like a sword, they are neither man nor woman, but a blend of both, which makes them stronger.

I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.

Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.

Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.

And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.

All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.
