Anyone else stuck thinking about the fact that Kai probably insisted on going back out to search for the others in spite of the horrors he’s experienced in order for Lloyd to not have to experience them?

That after everything, he was fueled by love for his family and it still fuels him?

That in spite of his powers being difficult to channel and the mask he’s putting on and how he won’t tell his little brother what’s wrong, he still chooses to go back out there and risk everything again?

Risk pain, risk being lost, risk being alone again… just so Lloyd wouldn’t have to experience what he went through? Wouldn’t be traumatized like he is?

Anyone else? Or just me.

Thinking about Southern Gothic! Gambit…

Mutants are something of southern folklore. Remy was told the stories as a boy and learned to hide his differences not long there after.

He’s back home in New Orleans. Gambling, drinking, and running with the Thieves Guild. He’s not a good man, but he’s got morals—albeit loose ones—and there’s plenty worse things than him crawling around the big easy. Even when you ignore those wrong eyed beings left lurking in the humid night air.

He comes out of the bar one night and runs into you, who’s in turn running away from something. His curiosity—along with that flirtatious spirit of his—gets the best of him, and he wastes no time stepping in to protect you from this thing. His daddy was never around, but his mama made sure he was brought up right—to know how to treat a woman and when a man should step in.

He pulls you down an alleyway and covers your mouth with his hand, using the other to ready a card. You barely have time to process what’s happening, but you nonetheless hedge your bets. Maybe it was the confidence he radiated or how he never ceased in reassuring you in that deep, accented voice of his, but you knew in that moment—as his hand departs your mouth and splay protectively across the sticky, exposed skin above your ribs— that you’d follow him anywhere. You’d never question your sudden devotion, even with all you’d see in the season that followed.

You knew full well to grab onto a good thing when you found it, but you hadn’t yet learned what to do when bad things found you.

I’m still not over Part 52.

We know two things:

Arthur loves John

Arthur believes it would have been better if he never opened John’s book.

From a utilitarian standpoint, he’s right. Arthur’s life would certainly have been better and so would everyone else’s. No one else would have survived reading the book, whether that was due to the Manager’s intervention or not. Kayne looked, if anyone else read the book, they would have died.

Maybe after that death another person would have read the book. Or maybe it would have been burned or lost. There are many other ways that universe may have carried on. But surely they’d all be better than this.

By season 4, Arthur had killed “maybe” seven people. By the end of season 5, Arthur and John had given Kayne a way to end all of existence.

One death and the continued suffering of a deity, in exchange for the destruction of everything. It’s a very easy equation to solve but that doesn’t make it hurt any less
