As the winter begins to melt away and spring comes into view, Blade gets the urge to go outside a lot more often. He doesn’t mind the snow much, but something about seeing his s/o’s pretty face amidst the vibrant spring flowers always seems to brighten his mood. The swordsman loves to go on walks with his beloved, watching as they lean over to pluck a handful of flowers and fiddle with them until they’re fashioned into a little flower crown. He lets a small smile grace his face as his s/o sets the flower crown atop Blade’s head, their giggles never failing to make him smile.

Another thing that Blade loves about the springtime? The way his s/o’s cute face lights up as they watch the flowers bloom and the bees buzz around, pollinating another generation of future flower crowns. It’s like watching a storybook pop up right in front of them - they’re mesmerized.

It reminds Blade of the way his s/o looks at him.

One serene spring night, Blade and his s/o decide to set out for some stargazing. And, as the pair sits, cuddling on a picnic blanket among the blooming flowers and watching the stars roll on, his lovely whispers a few soft words he never tires of hearing…

“I love you.”

Scratch everything. That’s his favorite part of the spring.

The spring gradually gives way to summer, which seems to be one of (if not the) favorite season of Y/N, Blade’s significant other. He absolutely adores their expression when they plead him to go to the beach together - he knows he’ll agree, but he just likes to make them beg.

Blade chases his lovely up and down the beach before tackling them down onto the sand, hearing their soft giggles from under him.

“I’ve been caught!~”

…he’s so smitten, and it’s obvious from the look on his face.

The two build sandcastles together, share lunch on the beach, and of course, swim together. Blade knows that his s/o has a slight fear of the ocean, so they cling to his back or he carries them in his arms as he wades through the water.

“Why are you so scared of the ocean, love?” He asks curiously as he’s holding them bridal-style in his arms.

“…it’s dark, and there’s…things in there…” his s/o gives a shudder, earning a chuckle from him.

“Alright, I’ll keep carrying you, then~”

“Thank you, Bladie! I love you~”

“…l-love you too…”

The sweet scent of maple wafts through the house, the gentle breeze blowing outside. Blade suddenly hears bounding footsteps as his s/o returns from their backyard tree, holding up a crumbled leaf.

“Bladie, look, the leaves are turning! That means fall is coming~” his lovely exclaims, grinning up at him excitedly.

He nods softly, taking the leaf from them and inspecting it. “…fall…I can’t wait to spend it all with you…”

Blade adores the fall - it’s his favorite season of all, no doubt about it. It encompasses his birthday, Halloween, and it’s cozy overall. He loves trick-or-treating with his s/o (you’re never too old for it, and in Blade’s case, 7000+ is definitely not too old~), being given thoughtful presents and loads of cuddles and kisses on his birthday…

Most of all, he loves curling up on the couch with his s/o in his lap, clinging to him as they both sip on warm pumpkin or maple-flavored drinks. He especially likes to warm up his s/o’s tiny cold hands by holding them in his own…

“Bladie? You won’t let go of my hand…~”

“Ah, right, my apologies…” his cheeks are tinged with a light shade of pink as he apologizes.

“Hey, no need to say sorry…” his s/o reassures him gently, before reaching up and pressing a sweet kiss to his forehead.

“…I love you, Bladie.”

The fall gradually rolls into winter, dawning a sort of wonder over the couple. Winter isn’t particularly their favorite, but as the snow falls down outside, the two cuddled up on the couch in a warm blanket, the fireplace crackling gently…Blade simply couldn’t ask for something more perfect.

Somehow, Y/N always gets Blade to agree to playing in the snow, sledding and building snowmen and such. It’s funny trying to watch the couple make snow angels, since Y/N can never make it a few minutes without rolling over to cuddle Blade.

One of the Blade’s favorite parts about the winter is Christmas and the weeks leading up to it. The sparkle in his s/o’s eyes as they tap and poke the presents under the tree, trying to figure out what they are before Christmas Day…it’s adorable to Blade. The two aim for a mix of bought items and homemade items more on the thoughtful side, which ends up working for them.

One particularly snowy and cold night, Y/N is snuggled up in Blade’s arms, laying in their shared bed as the wind howls outside, threatening to disturb their safe haven.

“Don’t worry, love, I’m here…” Blade whispers as he sees his s/o trembling. He pulls up another blanket over the both of them as his lovely buries their face in his chest.

“I love you, Bladie. So much…”

“…l-love you too, sweetheart…~”

mmm thoughts of private executioner!blade, who is high priestess!kafka's bodyguard. well, more like her guard dog, as many fearfully seem to think.

he is aloof and gruff and rough around the edges, his name capturing it perfectly. when in the eyes of the public he either keeps to himself or stands ready by kafka's side, but when out he lurks in the shadows ready and waiting to carry out her death orders.

you, yourself, haven't had very many pleasant encounters with him... if you can even call them that. that being said, you haven't had many pleasant encounters with anyone. notorious for your... less than pleasant disposition, for a lack of better words, you have more people who'd rather see you run through than those you can call a friend.

in a dog-eat-dog world, you had no choice but to protect yourself. that, however, ultimately became your demise.

"oh? so you're the one sent to kill me. can't say i'm all that surprised."

standing before you is the feared executioner. his sword is tucked inside the sheath attached to his hip, that ever-present dark swirl of an aura stifling the air. he doesn't say anything, instead opting to silently stare down at your slumped and worn-out form. you find that his gaze doesn't bother you; rather, it's oddly comforting knowing someone will see you in your last moments.

"i've never asked you for a favour before, so this will be my first and last request for you." in all honesty, you're not sure where this chattiness stems from. considering you're currently in a holding cell under the crime of attempted murder towards kafka (a poisoned wine you were most definitely framed for, though you can't say you were surprised) and are awaiting for your turn to be under the guillotine for your public execution, you probably should be a little desperate towards the private executioner in front of you.

and yet, your mind is nothing if not peaceful.

with a huff, you relay your request, "can you make sure it's quick? painless, preferably, but i'd rather you just get it over and done with."

silence blankets the cold chambers. moisture accumulated along the cobble ceiling drip in a steady rhythm, like a clock ticking away the seconds. it's unnerving, almost, how there is not a single sound other than your impending countdown.

"why?" comes his low mutter, effectively causing a ripple within the stagnant air. you almost think you misheard him, but his following words cease the thought, "why won't you ask me for help?"

had it not been for the abrupt shuffle and clanging against the metal bars, you would have never looked up to see him in your last moments.

his scarred hands gripping the metal until his knuckles turn a ghastly white and blood dripping from his palms is what greets your sight. as your gaze slowly trails up, you almost let loose a laugh of disbelief; who would have thought blade, the infamous guard dog of the high priestess, could make such a desperate expression? one looking as though his whole world crumbled before him, in which he can do nothing but sit and watch.

(you will never know of the anger and desperation which coursed through his veins the moment he heard of your predicament. had it been anyone else, he wouldn't have cared. but you're not anyone else; you're you — unapologetically, wholeheartedly. it didn't take him long to hunt down those behind it, cutting them down without thought and putting an end to their miserable lives. he rushed as soon as he could when kafka gave him the order, no thoughts other than you, you, you, occupying his mind.

you will never know of the anguish which overcame him when he found you in such a state, your once healthy complexion and defiant gaze reduced to nothing but a tiredness which had always sat quietly behind your disposition. he's almost positive the muscle which unwillingly keeps him alive tore at the seams from your request, the acceptance in which you displayed causing his mind to go astray. even as he damn-near begs you to rely on him for help — to run away with him to some place no one knows of you and start anew there — you merely smile, resigned and peaceful.

you will never know of how much blade is willing to put on the line for you, for you never made it to see the complete and utter carnage he wrecked in your name.)

Part Two (Stellaron Hunters)

Like the last one with the Astral Express, I am listing my opinions on aspects of the HSR designs, including things I kinda dislike or at least would change about certain playable designs in HSR to help myself with planning some of my own designs/redesigns for future art!

And I am so excited to get onto three of my favorite designs in this game!! The Stellaron Hunters are my babies and I originally was going to include them in the AE part 1 post, but sadly exceeded some kind of limit on the post while rambling about both of the groups designs, so they get their own post! And y'know what if that gives me more room to talk about them, I am not upset!

Ofc, Disclaimer: I am not a professional character designer, I'm not saying any of my ideas for them are objectively better or improvements even, nor am I bashing any of these designs. This is just my opinion and I like most if not all of the playable designs at the moment! I just have a few thoughts regarding them.

The List part 2:

Silver Wolf: I really like her design, I think honestly the Stellaron Hunters (at least for the trio, still forming my thoughts on Sam's) are easily some of the best designed characters in HSR so far. I do think out of those three designs though, Silver Wolf might be the weakest? Not that it's bad ofc, as I just said I think they're some of the best designs, but alongside Kafka and Blade, it feels like there's more that could be done with her design. They went ham on having so many like "Haha look she's a gamer!" details on her outfit that it ends up a bit eye rolling when you keep seeing all the details. The buttons hanging from her belt, the controller garter, the pattern on the fabric hanging from her hip for no reason, the power button logos on her her belt in multiple places and the strap that hold her knife, and that's not even all of them. It's just a bit much. Yes, she's a gamer, we get that. It doesn't need to be sprinkled throughout her design this much, at least not in this way. Because the way they did it, admittedly looks a bit gimmicky since it's only visual details rather than anything more is the best way I can describe it. I would maybe give her a few more items in place of all of these little things. Give her a visible earpiece, or some other kind of hands off communication device. Give her more devices if you're gonna have her adorned with all these straps, make them useful. Though I have two (maybe three?) other bigger ideas that could either work for changing her up physically, either separately or somehow together in a design. I'm stuck between the idea of giving her comfier clothes, both to reflect her more laid back personality and also to fit more so with what she does, or giving her more of a tech wear influence in her design, especially considering PunkLorde is meant to be a cyberpunk themed place. I feel like there's a better way to reflect that influence in her design. Also I dunno about you, but when I think cyberpunk I think of Neons a bit. I’m not saying turn her whole color palette that, but I think in a few of the patterns or in little details adding tiny touches of neon would look cool and help make her pop out a bit. (Sorry this ended up rambling, when I actually draw my thoughts for her, it will come through cleaner and clearer. Overall, I really like her design still even if there's a lot of details I would preferably change.)

Kafka: Kafka is one of my favorite designs, I adore her, I adore the spider, the web, and even the butterfly motifs present in her design. Her color scheme has a sense of allure to it if that makes sense, well balanced throughout her from head to toe. If I were to change something, it would be to make her design more show-y, a little more over the top. As it stands, Himeko has a more ostentatious design than her. Which feels off to me. "Oh but she's going on missions, taking people out, and collecting Stellarons. Her practical design makes sense." Very true, but also these missions aren't merely just missions. They are performances, displays of acting according to Elio's scripts in order to obtain the results he needs for the future. Kafka, of the rest of the Stellaron Hunters we've seen so far, seems to be the one that best fits into the role of Elio's dramatic villain/anti-hero. I mean just compare her presence in the Luofu quest to like Blade also in the Luofu quests, or Sam in the Penacony ones. There is a difference in dramatics and performance. She beckons the audience's (and law enforcement's) eyes towards her, as she strings them along with her schemes and plans. She is made to be the one in the lime light, delivering monologues and putting on the best show for everybody. When we look at the few missions of the Stellaron Hunters we’ve seen so far, Kafka does fit the bill as the star of his show, his leading actor in the role of the antagonist. As such, I think Kafka could benefit from making her outfit a bit more dramatic, leaning into the role she plays even further. Especially when thinking about how playing up that dramatized version of herself would work with the facade she's hinted at putting up. I do adore it the way it is, I just think more could be done with it. Lean a bit harder in, and by nature of making her more over the top, that could lead to the potential for a more interesting silhouette depending on how it's handled. Maybe even some more elements to influence like making it more over the top could be inspired from the Kafka Stigmata in HI3rd

Blade: I can’t lie to y’all. I think his design is close to perfection. I think it’s so well done (even though the silhouette could use some work? Depending?), it’s absolutely packed with symbolism. However, aside from just some silhouette adjustments, something I would change is the emphasis of how injured he is. The injuries he feels every single day of his life, that can’t heal because of Jingliu essentially overriding the default state his body is trying to restore. It’s a big thing in his lore, so much so that it’s been mentioned multiple times including in a main companion quest and literally up front show to us face to face. That cg of him with the sword in his chest feels like somebody stuck a sword in mine every time I see it, I swear. But design wise, I feel like this point about him and his history doesn’t shine through as well, and it feels like the gravity of that time isn’t properly portrayed in his design. Like let me emphasize, Bailu’s words might suggest that the default state for some of his injuries is literally open and bleeding so... And you might think “Oh that’s funny, when he’s literally covered in bandages like his arm and chest.” Well, I’ll one up you by clarifying if you look up his jacket as he runs, you’ll see his model has bandages ALL the way down his torso!! But the thing is, this is covered by his jacket. We only see his hand bandaged and a little peek at his chest, but his face? Completely fine. The rest of his body? Perfectly covered not showing anything. If I could change his design just a bit, first off, I’m making his coat more tattered and broken. Yes he gets his coat replaced at times, but that doesn’t mean we need to always see it in pristine condition. He’s a fighter, making his coat have tears in it, leave the edges worn down, more fabric than just his red ribbons to be frayed at the ends. In those tears of his clothes, either show bandages (left up to you whether to be seen as fresh injuries covered waiting to heal or more wrapped remnants of Jingliu’s slashes) or scars on every single bit of skin that manages to peek out from that coat. And for some flavor, add some scars to his face however big or small. There’s no way I can believe Jingliu killed him hundreds of times and didn’t at least once go for a head shot. I bet that woman knows the extent of his healing like the back of her hand, I bet she could answer my question about how exactly Blade’s body would heal if his limbs were severed. If he has some part of himself not covered, it should have evidence that he was harmed there! Never let us forget that part of his lore! NEVER!!

(I promise I’m totally not insane about him, what ever could lead you to that conclusion?)

I want to say, I will eventually update this once we have more Sam lore, perhaps I’ll include Sam with the Penacony characters post to make it easier or I’ll just redo the Stellaron Hunters post and revise and revisit my ideas for these three! As it stands, I want to wait until we have more Sam lore and more things cleared up about them before I jump into talking about the armor design or things I know from leaks until it’s been confirmed or disproven so I can give better my thoughts about the design in relation to the character!! Please stay tuned, I can’t decide if I should go for Overworld Belobog first because I have more clear ideas (including a rant about one specific character) or if it’s best to go to Herta Space Station first in order to just go in order essentially. Who knows ! Well! I hole you enjoyed this, I adore the Stellaron Hunters and any time I am able to talk about them I am very happy :D

to answer… there’s a large selection to choose from but ultimately, dan heng. he has a really intriguing backstory & his current relationships are JUST as interesting! there’s so much to explore with him!

from his obsession of information to his slightly… distant relationship with the mc (don’t think i haven’t noticed how mc refused to say anything during his lunae transformation) to his tender care 4 march & the express thru protecting them to his fascinating relationships w/ the high cloud quintet (& don’t get me started with his CANONICAL engagement w/ yingxing LIKE.) to his current siblingism w/ bailu AND—

idk. theres just so much to say about him. u can go about any angle for him & honestly you’d still have plenty to explore. i’ve loved him since i first started the game. i still love him <3 i think he’ll be my fav always

jing yuan understands that clipped birds needs extra care, so he'll spoil you to a reasonable extent. you'll want for nothing under his wings. he's amassed enough knowledge over your preferences and wealth over the centuries to properly take a good care of you.

sometimes you might view that he treats your escape attempts as if you're a child who doesn't know any better and you're just throwing a tantrum - but deep down he knows you can slip away from him; that's why he needs to hold you tighter. tighter. tighter still. just a breadth away from fainting.

you're the only bird he keeps in a cage, but his goal lies in releasing you and knowing that you will undoubtedly come back to him, just like all the birds in the luofu. he's quite a capable mentor, if he could say so himself. what's one more disciple, right?

he'll teach you how to love him. over and over again. you'll memorize it until it becomes as easy as remembering how to breathe, and as fatal as it would be for you to stop. you'll love him with every inhale and demand his love with every exhale. you'll learn to come back to him unprompted, back to your home, perched by his shoulder after flying around his carefully kept garden, pruned free of all the bad things that could potentially hurt you.

he'll teach you how to love him, until you forget.

for only when you've forgotten it, you'll be ready.
