For those of you who've been going insane about McGucket getting Frilliam for Ford because his frills remind him of his sideburns, here's your reminder that he has done it multiple times!

Fiddleford's got one tactic and he is running with it till he gets results.

On a less silly note, I love how this shows the growing distance between the two of them. This is the point in the story where Ford's lack of appreciation for Fidd is beginning to spell disaster for them both (he's already built the memory gun and the fair where he acquired the squash is also where he met the man who would one day lead the Society of the Blind Eye), and here McGucket is reaching out an olive branch that Ford thoughtlessly discards! Bill isn't even directly manipulating him like he did with Frilliam, this is just Ford thinking that the only reason to keep a gift from his best friend is "politeness" and eventually throwing it out anyways. His only thought when it comes to Fiddleford saying that the squash reminded him of Ford is a self conscious jab about his nose. To Ford, it's all about himself!

"Ford treated Fiddleford so bad!!" As if him treating Fidds like shit wasn't directly a product of being constantly gaslighted and abused by Bill.

I'm genuinely getting tired of people flaming Ford, but in a serious tone. Like people are acting like he's a toxic selfish man that used to put Fidd down... and... no he never did???

Ford ADMIRED Fiddleford, he TRUSTED his friend for what he described as "the project of his life" and Ford, being the most prideful man in the world, decided to ask for help because he knew how CAPABLE Fiddleford was.

When Fiddleford arrived Ford let him know how thankful he was that he was there with him, the man even took a bath and made sure to make him feel like he was at home. Ford even remembered his favorite bean brand?

When Fidd got traumatized by the gremoblin, Ford TRIED to help with what he knew. He tried to help him meditate, took days off for him, decided that they could go out and have some good time. Be mindful that this might've been the total OPPOSITE of what Bill wanted, and he still did for his friend sanity. Bill would make Ford work like CRAZY.

Also, for him it wasn't "putting him in danger!!" For him it was sharing adventures with his friend! Just like hi did with *cofcofSTANLEYcofcof*. That's love language all around.

Fiddleford could abandon the project anytime, but he didn't because he liked being there. And Ford is NOT the guilty one for Fidds creatinf the gun :/ it's nor his fault that fidd interpreted "using his creativity" in that way. Ford NEVER approved that gun.

Also, Ford noticed that RUBIK THING, HE APPREACITE HIM SO MUCH HE KNEW HIS HABITS. AND GOT CONCERNED RIGHT AHEAD.

TBOB SPOILERS AHEAD

He got sad when Fiddleford told him he was gonna get back home to spent time with his family, he PLANNED holidays with him. Even if he DIDN'T like holidays.

He took a day off just to make him happy after his atrocious christmas party, he USED RESOURCES that as you know ford is the most practical mam in the world JUST to decorate the portal as a tree and make Fiddleford happy.

And that atuff of "h-he doesn't appreaciated Fiddleford gifts!" IS SO DUMB OMG, he wore the gloves in the snow and was incredibly thankful about them. When BILL that dumbass triangle pretty much LACERATED his hands, he used Fiddleford gloves as a way to hide those scars, and in a sense, probably to comfort himself because he was ALONE.

I think that was the reason of Fiddleford fast forgiveness, not only because he's a sweet heart, but because after fighting with Bill i think he noticed how BIG was the monster torturing his "partner".

And after all of this i'm not trying to excuse Ford treating him poorly and not listening to him in time

BUT FORD IS NOT A PERFECT VICTIM

Even if i believe he wasn't "the" (at least only) reason of Fiddleford becoming crazy, i know it could have been better for him and he could have avoided so much trauma. But can we please stop seeing Ford as a selfish, evil mad scientist and start seing him as a victim... of a terribly abusive relationship that checks in for all types of domestic abuse... please!!! Ford is not a perfect VICTIM Can we blame Bill!!!

All this rant is because there's certain ship... which i kinda like, but i just HATE HATE HATE the interpretation and how much they put Ford as a villian on it omg

more things i've noticed on rewatching tale of two stans with all the recent context

this was not at all notable when the episode first came out, but hey we all know that computer now! love that stan must have kept it all that time, for it to exist in ford's lab in the present day

this one isn't actually new to book of bill, but since this fandom resurgence is the first time i've listened to the episode commentaries - i definitely recommend the grunkle stan commentary on land before swine if you haven't listened to it yet, alex hirsch does the entire commentary as stan, where he talks about how their dad was never the type to play games with them, so he tries to invent the footbot to do it for him (with limited success)

and was cool to see the shoutout to yet another reason why their dad is the source of at least half of these guys' mental issues!

so i knew alex hirsch has said several times that he found it really funny if mcgucket was destined to be the steve jobs of that universe, but ford came along and wrecked the whole thing

So, bear with me as i can't draw humans hjkjhj. i've just had this idea in my head for awhile, and i figured it made more sense with them as people instead of my usual furry designs lol. i figured the gf style would be simple enough to copy, but uh, unsurprisingly it still turned out a little wonky

anywaysss, that post claiming Ford wouldn't care if Mabel got him a polydactyl cat has been bugging me for ages now, so i wanted to doodle my own take instead hjkjhjk.

it's been said before (by myself included), but there is no way he wouldn't immediately love that cat. he has a fascination with anomalies, it's a gift from his beloved niece, and shares a trait with him he was always been self conscious of. he'd be so appreciative! not to mention the fact he wouldn't want to repeat the whole Frilliam thing.

i went with a black cat since they're supposed to be good luck for sailors! it seemed rly fitting! i couldn't for the life of me think of a name, but i went with Sixpurr, as a pun on Sixer. i like to think Stan jokingly calls her that once and Ford is just "wait, that's perfect!' Stan mostly just calls her cat lol.

i imagine Ford walking her around ports on a little leash, and wrapping twine around one of the poles of his bunk bed so she can more easily reach the top bunk where he sleeps. that's his little buddy!!

Was pleasantly surprised at Ax’s sense of humor. The first time they laughed at one of his weird jokes, the sound of their laughter… caught him off guard… and he wanted to hear it more.

He used to call them “Frills” or “Axxy” in a condescending way, but now calls them that affectionately.

Loves to look at Ax’s starry eyes.

He used to find Ax's voice terrifying at first, but soothing later on.

Angst:

He genuinely thought Ax was going to either let him die or revive him just to kill him again. He believes he is unredeemable, and that Ax made a mistake by saving him and letting him live.

Bill doesn't know of Ax’s dark past. Everything involving that time happened before he was even born. As far as he knows, Ax has always been this goody-two-shoes, preachy know-it-all since the beginning.

Prone to self harm when stressed (Ripping out eyelashes, and damaging his eyelids via, scratching, picking, pulling, etc.)

After an especially bad episode, he is uncomfortable by the sight of his own reflection.

Genuinely has no idea how or why The Axolotl fell in love with his headass. He thought at first that Ax was playing a cruel joke on him.

Bill is just extremely cynical. (He is working on it.)

Is upset by the fact that Bill was terrified of them. Ax doesn’t want to be seen as terrifying at all.

When their chest is exposed in the air, they wrap their arms around it by habit. They have a visceral reaction if someone touches their chest or tries to restrain their limbs.

Understands Bill’s pain quite well.

A very long time ago, they cried so hard, their eyes fell out. They regenerated after.

May or may not has erased their own memories a few times before.

Wants to tell Bill of their past, but doesn’t know if they should.

Had a twin and Had someone they loved dearly. Someone they used to call “Their little bunny.” Ax would do anything to hold them again, even if just one last time. A time wish cannot bring them back.

Bill’s humor and his more harmless shenanigans reminds them of “Their Bunny.”

Their name is actually pronounced a-sho-loht, but they’d rather separate themselves from that name.

Extras:

Bill’s petty insults do not upset Ax. They have better shit to worry about lol.

Ax can speak every language. Their native tongue is Nahuatl but written in the theraprism’s cryptogram alphabet. (Idk what that specific cryptogram is called smh.)

Ax wouldn’t speak Bill’s native tongue (the color code) in front of him.

Bill’s and Ax’s encounter after his deletion was… emotionally charged, specially for Bill.

Ax’s voice is similar to Satan’s from Adventures of Mark Twain, but less sinister sounding. A male and a female voice overlapping each other, so gender ✨️

Ax was unaware of a lot of the things that went on the Therapism. Something or someone found a loophole to The Axolotl’s all seeing eyes.

Ax does NOT like their gills being touched at all. Bill learnt that the hard way.

Ax can also read people's minds but avoids to do so. They find it distasteful. (They still detect lies all the time though.)
