yall I want TDS3 tickets so badly 😭 but I don't know who to even go with and I'm not going by myself.... but I'm also seriously thinking I'm just gonna go ahead and try to get tickets on friday anyway
#last year i went with my mom and she enjoyed it#but im not entirely sure she wants to go again#and then my best friend doesn't like kpop at all lmao#but I don't know i might be able to get her to go w me but#i dont know how she'll feel about the traveling in chicago by ourselves thing#bc when we last went there together for a concert we were with her ex and he did the driving#so my last option is my brother lol because i asked the other day if he wants to go to chicago#and he did say yes so i told him attendance at the concert is mandatory#kpop is also absolutely not his genre of music#even though he listens to a little bit of a lot of stuff like country and pop and broadway musicals#like dude you'd love the theatrics of kpop and the gaybaiting they do? thats something he might like#and then one of my choices was my moms best friend bc she said after she saw my moms videos of tds2#that she wanted to go see a kpop concert because she loves showmanship so she saw the eras tour and#fell in love so i think she would like kpop. she loved the wrist light things TS did so lightsticks are definitely#something she'd enjoy and the choreography#i really think it's just the language barrier that's preventing my brother and best friend from wanting to go#and the language barrier that keeps my mom and her best friend from probably enjoying the music as much#because my mom loved one direction so a kpop boyband isn't too far off from that#oh also i think my friend will tell me no because i've already turned her down for plans like a week or two before that#because i won't have PTO to use at work because i'll have just gotten back from a vacay that uses i all#and then i'm gonna turn around and take 2 days off for a concert (travel time sucks)

i do think its kinda funny when i see someone in the year of our lord 2024 talk about vocal synth music like its all gone downhill since like 2010 because like dont get me wrong i love a good niconicodouga-ass 2008 ass vocaloid joint BUT also like. the past couple years have had the most fascinatingly creative and expressive uses of vocal synthesizers ive ever heard in my life DJFSKHJDFS dont write it all off just yet!!
#usually i only see that from people who havent actually listened to any vsynth music from the past 15 years so i understand why they got to#that conclusion. and also usually theyre people who didnt listen to much vsynth music in the first place LOL they just dont know#but it is still a little funny. brother there are things beyond your wildest dreams if u just look#like some personal highlights: the stuff by rinri - particularly their use of the meika girlies#dont carry our memories away is LIFECHANGING the whispers. the spoken parts. the BELTS#plus the haunting and unrelenting instrumentation. fantastic song#and naisho no pierced's propose + birthday + gift sort of trilogy of songs. gift especially has been unreal#again the dynamics of soft intimate whispers to belts but also those fuller high notes with edges of growlyness.#plus the songs just generally rock. and those LYRICS. absolutely intense like physically painful and frightening like#yearning and codependency and possession. and the tuning and production just amps it up more#OH and slave.v.v.r has been doing crazy things for even longer but i only started getting into his stuff recently and holy shit#love eater is like. the scariest vocaloid song ive ever heard not because of the lyrics. but because of the tuning#im like. scared. i cant stop listening to it. the heavy synthesized breathy main vocals and whispered harmonies plus the VOCAL FRY#i didnt realized vocaloid5? i think? has a vocal fry option built in i heard? thats crazy#but specifically in love eater the fry and growl is amped up so deep and loud and clear compared to everything else it like#emphasizes the artificiality of the voice while also amping up the expressiveness#its awesome. and on the older slave.v.v.r songs i heard i will hit you 8759632145 times with this piano. also so fucking cool#addicted to that song. 1) its a great jazzy rocky piano tune with this piano flourish at the end of each phrase that sounds fantastic#but also 2) the lyrics are insane. using kanji to write english??????#people are doing wild ass things with vocal synths rn you guys#this isnt even getting into some of the really unique synths themselves too. adachi rei is awesome i love that shes just like#the perfect inbetween of sample based and reconstruction based vocals. shes a sample based synth#but her samples were drawn by hand LOL shes like dectalks granddaughter to me.....#a really good use of adachi rei is iyowa's heat abnormal/heat anomaly/whatever its called ITS AWESOME thats what it is hjrkfdgfd#i think the fact that vocal synths can be so realistic and clean and noiseless out the gate now has made people really stop worrying#about like. realism all together and looking more into expressiveness. omg vocal synth modernist movement

The Me who bought tickets to see TMBG in february 2023 and the Me who's going to actually go to the show next month are two completely different people
#slash extremely negative#it's funny to actually live this whole sort of cliche of: the time between buying tickets and going to the show can be so absurdly long#with what was supposed to be my 1st 'real' concert no less#'i bought the tickets as a teenager but i'm going to see them in my 20s etc' and stuff like that#and then when it gets rescheduled too... well. a year and 9 months is in fact a pretty long time!!!#and i'm not even talking about rescheduling due to covid because god at least i didn't have to deal with that i guess#(it IS funny though that by the time the 30th anniversary of flood tour ends#flood will be 2 months away from turning 35. so yeah lmao a lot happened in the meantime huh)#anyways day two of going crazy going insane for no reason other than well i guess that's just my life now!!!!! 😃😃😃#me when i say i'll stop documenting my rapidly progressing mental breakdown online and then keep doing it anyway#but idk maybe this will heal me in some way. my only hope rn no joke#and my mom actually seemed to be unsure if i we should book the hotels and stuff because. ig i'm this obviously unwell even over the phone#but BY GOD this is the only thing i can really look forward to right now i really need this to survive#(trying to forget how i was doing in september of last year when they rescheduled the tour#and i couldn't even be sure if i'd ever get to see them in the end lollllll#and at the heights of my tmbg obsession this was my number 1 dream. i mean it still is)#also i think i'm finally entering my tmbg autumn era now with some more frequent listening after not doing so for a while#how could i let myself pretty much forget that i love tmbg??? and that their music is so good and makes me happy???#they're still my fav band of all time just like they were back then. i’ve been trying to think of ways to keep up my spanish since i moved and don’t know as many people to speak it with here; i saw you’re reading out loud in french every day how’s that going? would you recommend it to maintain fluency? :)
it's going well! it's great for maintaining vocab for sure, especially if you read recent stuff (as opposed to novels from the 1800s lol). and it's been helping a ton with my pronunciation; actually speaking the words helps with your own articulation as well as your oral comprehension to a lesser extent. i think it's a pretty good option in the absence of conversational partners, and it's really not necessary to spend a ton of time on it per day, especially if you're already fluent. you could read a chapter a day (or 10 pages, or 5 pages, or whatever) just to keep your hand in. worth a try if you have some spanish-language books available!

i was helping a friend with their english media hw and she didnt know who charli was so i pulled up my fave song. forgot how 'i got it' starts lol

#purrs#for context in 2014 i used to religiously catalogue every song i discovered and eventually got more and more into it and made beautiful#decorative google docs and then compiled the Google docs into spreadsheets. then i got to college and was too busy for spreadsheets so i#just tracked stuff on Google keep like you see here. then my life started going extremely downhill and i listened to less and less music#because of the horrors and in 2022 i just straight up fucking forgot this sticky note existed but i have barely discovered new songs#anyway so it probably will not be much longer than this once i finish updating it once im done dishes. lol!!!! the growth the progress the#self work.. so evident here that i am in a good place and have managed to keep up things that sustain me and help me thrive. music is so#imprtant to me as was poetry as was drawing and now all i do is play video games and watch youtube. awesome#delete later

I only marked the bands that I listen to regularly.
I had such a hard time picking bands/artists for this because I listen to so much music and so many different genres. Also, choosing music based on what I actually listen to most vs choosing music based on how I want to be perceived was more of a challenge than I expected it to be. I probably should have left out the bands that have the same vocalists. Jack Off Jill and Scarling are both fronted by Jessicka Addams and Creeper and Salem are both fronted by Will Gould. But Jessicka has been my fucking hero since I was like, 10, and Will is such an amazing vocalist and lyricist, I just couldn’t choose.
Only person I can think of to tag for this is @rivetgoth (no obligation to do this, obviously!), so if anyone else feels like doing this, you can just say I tagged you!

#sorry spent too long listening to music sung by japanese singer Lia#and one Lia led to an IA and i started thinking too much about like#Lia and Miriam Stockley being like the singers of my childhood (Tori no Uta and Perfect Day respectively)#and how they both were voice providers for a vocaloid at one point#and then about how their vocaloids sound so different from the singers#(miriams being honestly largely because of the limitations of vocaloid 1. i think if they made an updated bank with like a falsetto version)#(because miriam stockleys voice is interesting with those HIGH high notes but also these really rich midtones)#(i think she might be able to get more qualities from her voice provider)#(in IA's case its largely because most people use her higher range LOL you can really hear the resemblence to Lia in her lower ranges)#(although i do like how different she can sound in all the different ranges its neat)#and now im longing. to play with utau again#i havent had a change to use it since i got a new computer (messing with locale changes too much can like)#(mess up my computers OS or bios or something so I wanna be careful lol)#i still gotta see if i can fudge something with a virtual machine but im too lazy to set one up JHFDSJFDs#pray for me....someday i'll do it#you know its funny. ive played with other vsynth programs#(couldnt get deepvocal working)#(synthv is pretty awesome. that voice bank koharu with the automatic intonation stuff is INSANE)#(like when u use her mid and lower range she sounds like straight up a PERSON its nuts)#(and ahem. i have. played with the big boy. the big V. the voc of loid edit her. maybe through means of questionable legality. cough)#but i always wanna go back to utau for some ungodly reason JHFKLDSJFkds#LIKE its clunky and every other program is so much more versatile and smoother to use and everything#but like. utau is so like. solid#like its so tangible in a way i cant describe fjdsklfds#maybe i just like changing voice quality by typing in a bunch of random numbers and letters in the flag section
