Pretty sure the zygarde might be the 'Lucius' 'Gibeon' was referring to maybe

Noticed 'Gibeon' was laying down in a chair, so I think he's got limited mobility or something along those lines, probably related to why he 'awakens' or can only interact for a short amount of time.

Some of the admins have shapes incorporated into their designs, and zygarde kinda has the hexagon shape as a leading role in its design.

I had a really hard time picking the last six favorites for this list because there are just so many pokemon I like! After seeing @haveyouusedthispokemon share a lot of these polls, I wanted to include more of my less popular favs like the Chikorita line and Klinklang, but most of the pokemon I ultimately chose made it in for sentimental reasons.

A bit ago I redid Grillbz and Blu's refs. But since then I've actually redone them AGAIN and added the third member of their trio since I hadn't drawn her. Planning on retiring their dedicated blog and instead just incorporate them into later plot stuff for fugamsemidei instead.

on one hand i'm so on board with them actually leaving things secret until the dlc drops, but on the other hand... legendaries? shiny huntable legendaries? sw/sh + dlc legendaries and enamorus shiny real at the very least?

just. i think i want the theme of plza to be something along the lines of human development clashing with natural wildlife. on the surface it seems like they’re trying to be pokémon friendly but i want that company to be the villains so bad i want zygarde the guardian of the ecosystem to become enraged and interfere. and then we get kinda unsettling with it. i want it to be like the redevelopment is just a shiny new coat of paint over all sorts of existing evils in the city, whether it’s abuse of pokémon or people or both. underground catacombs and back alley gangs and other creepy stuff. we throw in more of the life and death motif and it gets reeeeeal tasty

The Explorers kinda draw a lot from medieval fantasy and royalty. Gibeon is like a king. Hamber is Gibeon's "retainer" and family butler. Amethio is the crown prince. Amethio was even raised in a full-blown mansion, and Hamber practically raised him like a prince. It's a mansion guarded by Sirfetch'd and Escavalier, which are both knight-like Pokémon, alongside Minccino as cleaners and Indeedee as waiters. Amethio's father Cervantis is largely absent from his life but he owns a Cinccino, which is elegant and fancy, further emphasizing Amethio as someone raised like royalty in high society (and it evolves via the Shiny Stone, which embodies royalty and high society as shown in Togekiss, Roserade, and Florges). Amethio's two Pokemon are knight-like, with Ceruledge and Corviknight, highlighting his chivalrous, honorable character shaped by his "royal" upbringing. Coral, Sidian, and Chalce are the knights and warriors of the "king" Gibeon who were "knighted" and trained by the butler and retainer Hamber. Spinel is basically Amethio's brother in all but blood as someone who was personally recruited by Gibeon. He's the petty, vindictive older brother who doesn't have legitimacy to Gibeon's throne like Amethio, and after Gibeon died and entrusted his will to Amethio, Spinel acted on that petty grudge by usurping the throne by force, disobeying Gibeon's wishes and disregarding the fact that he was disinherited (and never had any legitimacy to Gibeon's throne to begin with).

On the other hand, the Rising Volt Tacklers feel rooted in a high fantasy fairy tale in a way. Their adventure in Horizons is rooted in discovering the legend of the ancient hero Lucius. Lucius is like a folk hero. He's not around (even though it turns out he was alive but sealed away in Laqua), but his adventures are recorded and passed down over generations for many to learn about. Diana, Liko's grandmother, isn't directly associated with the RVT but she discovered Lucius's story and was inspired to become an adventurer, and then she passed the story down to her daughter and her son-in-law, and Alex wrote a picture book about it. She passed down the pendant she discovered to Liko and that kick-started her into an adventure she had never dreamed of with the RVT. Alex's picture book was read to Roy by his grandfather and that in turn inspired Roy to become an adventurer and eventually join the RVT. The group's a ragtag motley group of adventurers led by a guy named Friede and a bunch of misfit adults and another kid named Dot. Liko starts out as just an ordinary girl who doesn't expect to be much more than that, and she was raised pretty hands-off, but finds herself entangled in a big mystery and even finds out that she is the descendant of the ancient hero. Her team has a very fairy-tale esque vibe to it so far. She has a magician cat in Meowscarada, her Hattrem culminates in a witch-like Pokemon in Hatterene, and Pagogo is also very much a fairy tale creature. The three of them together also align with the "magical girl" anime vibe a la Sailor Moon and Precure, and that also reinforces it. Roy's ancient Poke Ball opened to reveal a literal dragon in the Black Rayquaza who becomes a major story element. And then they faced another dragon beast when facing Gibeon in the White Zygarde.

And yet their paths intertwined because that "king" and that "folk hero" were tied together by a shared story, and Pagogo was a shared story element that was also all that was left of the other person in Gibeon and Lucius's story, whose presence in their story was lost to time (Rystal). All three of Gibeon, Lucius, and Rystal are gone now, but what they left behind isn't.

With the upcoming Pokemon Presents during Pokemon Day, I thought it would be fun to speculate and share my personal thoughts and theories on what the future holds for Pokemon Horizons. Spoilers under the cut for everything like the trailers up to the latest episodes.

So, like a few others I've seen sharing similar thoughts, I feel like at the end of this arc, something may happen to Friede. Personally, I find that the series has done well with the kids' progression that Friede no longer has to step in to save them. He's been taking more of a supporting role, giving space for the kids to plan and backing them up instead of leading the fight.

In the latest episode, to me this feels like a foreshadow of things going wrong.

He's already advising the kids that, in the event of things going wrong, they would have to act under their own judgement. Friede is showing his trust of their strength here; in case he's indisposed by any means, they can't rely on him. He's the only adult with them in Rakua with the rest of the RVT on the ship. When the chips are down, they have to step up.

Now, what could possibly happen? Personally, I feel like Friede would pull a self sacrificial move. HZ088's episode title is Shockwaves from the White Zygarde, giving me the impression that what happened all those years back is going to repeat itself. We know that Friede would do everything in his power to ensure the kids' safety. That's a core part of his character since the very beginning of the series.

So, in the event of things going horribly wrong at Rakua that repeats the disaster that 'blotted out the sun for three days and three nights', I can see Friede putting the kids' safety above his own. He'd probably stay behind to give the kids a chance to run for safety, having them take Cap with him like he did back in the Galar Mine. Perhaps he'd be encased in that barrier like Lucius had, or some other means that would leave him temporarily indisposed from the series.

In any case, if Horizons decided to go this route, it would be a good reason for the kids to continue to grow stronger. Realistically after Rakua, what's left for their journey? They've achieved a goal that has taken them all over the world. They had an entire arc dedicated to the kids learning Terastalization so they can grow and become stronger. What else could be a catalyst for them to continue pursuing that strength aside from the potential of saving a mentor figure?

(Of course personally, I will CRY if that happens. I CAN'T LOSE MY GUY THE REASON I GET OUT OF BED EVERY MORNING TO GO TO WORK SO I CAN EARN MONEY TO BUY MORE STUFF OF MY GUY).

Within the topic of getting stronger, I think that at the end of this arc, it would be fitting for Floragato to evolve. We know that there's going to be high stake battles spanning multiple episodes. It's almost been a year since Sprigatito evolved, and I would say the circumstances in which an evolution could happen is similar to last time. Sprigatito evolved during a high stakes battle against the black Rayquaza, so I can see it happening again, where Floragato evolves to Meowscarada during a battle against Gibeon to protect Liko.

As for personal thoughts about the future of Horizons, I personally don't see it ending anytime soon. The usual life cycle for a Pokemon anime series is usually three years. There are still plenty of stuff left unanswered (like how did the Ancient Pokeball found its way to Roy's grandpa, how the other Explorers were recruited, etc) as well. I think that the kids deserve to have all their Pokemon evolve to their final evolution, and perhaps give Roy and Dot additional new captures to match Liko currently having three Pokemon on her team.

Also, knowing that we're getting Pokemon Legends: Z-A this year, I wouldn't be surprised if Pokemon Horizons was another form of advertising for that game. Terapagos was advertised way before it was released in Scarlet and Violet's DLC. Gibeon was shown to have a shiny Zygarde roughly a month after they first revealed PLZA. Imagine if it's all to build up hype for the potential of there being a shiny Zygarde in PLZA.

Like, Pokemon love their cross marketing. I just can't see them ending Horizons and starting a new anime series because they already have a fanbase for Horizons. They released the Obsidian Flames TCG set for Dark Tera Charizard like a week after they revealed Friede's Charizard was Dark Tera but had marketing for that set way before HZ014 aired. They gave out starters with the kids name as the OT in Scarlet/Violet, and had that entire shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid to celebrate them finally capturing Rayquaza in its Ancient Pokeball.

Considering Mega Evolutions are returning in PLZA, I can also see them introducing it in Horizons. It's not the first time different generational gimmicks are present in a single series. If I remember correctly, Ash had used Mega Evolution, Z-Moves and Dynamax in Pokemon Journeys. They already have a perfectly good cash cow mascot to showcase a Mega Evolution with in the form of Friede's Charizard. Like, imagine the Mega Charizard merchandise and toys they can release under Pokemon Horizons's banner.

(On that note, it would be hilarious if PLZA decided to show like, Mega Charizard Z and Friede has that. I personally like to think he'd have Mega Charizard Y but X is objectively cooler looking).

So yeah, those are my thoughts. I'd be happy if even one of the things I mentioned happened but I'd still be excited regardless for this series. Pokemon Horizons has given me joy for the past couple of years, so whether it'll end soon or still continue, I'm just happy I was able to be a part of the ride.

Top 5 things I want from Legends Z-A:

5. Zygarde final fight- it's basically confirmed that Zygarde will play some part in the story, but I would really want a Origin Dialga/Palkia level fight against 100% Zygarde/Mega Zygarde

4. PLA Shiny Sound- god, ScarVio had a lot of flaws, but the lack of a shiny sound was really annoying to deal with. They got it right the first time with Overworld shinies and then regressed

3. New Mega Pokemon- I would love to see new Mega pokemon, especially considering the fact we were ROBBED of Mega Flygon because Game Freak “couldn’t think of a good idea”. Please, it's easy, just make Flygon a high speed jet, duh. Kalos starter Megas would also be nice

2. Emmet/Larry/someone else from the previous games- Is this just because I like seeing past characters in different environments… yes, but TELL ME EMMET IN THE FRENCH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION WOULD NOT BE SICKKKK (If you can’t tell, i like Submas =] js a little). Or Larry, js vibing in some random building after getting sent to the past and js finding another office job.

ASH-GRENINJA BACK- WHY WOULD THEY REMOVE HIS FORM CHANGE, IT WAS SO GOOD AND COOL! THE LEAST THEY COULD DO IS HONOR ASH KETCHUM POST TO BE A MASTER IS BY LETTING ASH GRENINJA COMEBACK. GAME FREAK! BRING BACK ASH GRENINJA AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!

We actually get to know where Amethio stands now, with the RVT or the Explorers

I’m curious to see if he’s gonna be an anti-hero or.. I guess an anti-villain? More in the sense will he not technically be on the Explorers’ side, but still against the RVT, or the opposite, not with the RVT but against the Explorers

I really hope for the latter, or even that he accepts Liko’s offer and joins their journey, but it’s doubtful

More likely he’s gonna try to earn back his grandpa’s trust and get back into the explorers like the sad, manipulated lil guy he is(my poor baby☹️)

Episode 84’s title gives me that impression too, unfortunately. “Where heaven meets earth” sounds like the Zygarde and Rayquaza fight we see in the intro, and most likely represents an Amethio vs. Liko fight

Gods I could go on about the yin and yang representation between Amethio and Liko, the Explorers and RVT, shiny Zygarde and shiny Rayquaza, but that deserves it’s own post, but trust it’s important

Do yall think that the fight will happen in area zero? Because if so that means most likely Amethio will go to area zero too

Will he encounter Sango and Onyx? What will be their reactions? Will Amethio and Liko be on good terms because of their little chat in the cave together? Will the others be shocked to hear ameliko being close enough to be on a first name basis?(because THAT happened)

will he even go down there or are we just gonna get a side episode with him, zirc, and onia? Honestly I wouldn’t mind that either, I just wanna see what my boy’s doing and how he’s holding up☹️
